Your eyes were closed, your breathing slow and deep as you concentrated on your said breathing. You fiddled with the fabric of your attire, a black dress that you were wearing for the red carpet premiere of âDune: Part 2.â You had played the lead alongside Zendaya and TimothĂ©e - your boyfriend. Well, secret boyfriend. You both treasured privacy and liked to keep both your private life and life in the limelight separate. This had been something you both wanted, and so far it had been working out pretty well for the both of you.Â
Yes, there had been times when the tabloids would assume and make assumptions about the two of you; digging way too deep into the relationship and scrutinizing the simplest of paparazzi photos. It was stressful, as it was for any celebrity couple, but you both got through it; it helped to communicate and talk things out when one or the other was upset by anything. But you'd deal with all the stress and paparazzi over and over again if it meant that you were with TimothĂ©e. He made everything worth it.Â
Letting out one more breath, you flickered open your eyes and stepped out of the car as the door opened. The roaring and the screaming from the many, many fans seemed to be coming from everywhere as you stood up. They rushed to the rope, arms reaching out, holding things for you to sign or pictures to take. You gave them all your best smile, thanking them and signing as many autographs before you were sent to the carpet.Â
Going to your first interviewer, you gave the young woman a smile before she spoke, "Y/N, it is so lovely to meet you, my name is Jody, and I'd just like to start out by saying that I love your dress." She complimented, making your smile widen.Â
"Thank you! I love your outfit too." You replied, seeing Jodi was wearing a simple black suit. Clasping your hands before you, you held onto your bag tightly, feeling a little bit overwhelmed.Â
"Thank you!" She gushed before getting into the real questions, "Do you mind telling me who made this particular outfit tonight?"
Clearing your throat lightly, you spoke, "Well," You began thoughtfully, looking at your dress. "The dress was made for me by Valentino, and I just have to thank them for doing such an amazing job. I was stunned when I first saw it." You answered, âThe jewelry and bag is Gucci, and my shoes are also Valentino.â Jody seemed impressed, nodding her head slightly before she went into her next question.
"How did you get cast into the movie, if you don't mind me asking?" She asked, and you felt yourself become more at ease.Â
"My manager called me up one day and told me that Denis wanted me to come in for auditions. Cynthia, my manager, never told me what it was for, though I did have a feeling that it mightâve been for the second Dune movie. But it seemed that I did a good job since I was cast." You let out a small laugh, and Jody gave you a smile and a nod, bringing the mic back over to her.
"So, Denis Villeneuve specifically asked you to be in his movie?" She asked, bringing the mic back over to you.
You nodded, shifting your weight slightly, "Yes, he had told me once when we were filming for âDune: Part 2â that he loved my work in the âTransformersâ series and âBarbie.â" Your lips quirked upwards into a grin. It was simply phenomenal working on the movie with Denis and the rest of the cast. And I feel very honored to have had the chance to be a part of this, honestly, groundbreaking movie."
"That's amazing, I love those movies, and I have no doubt you are incredible in this movie as well." Jody spoke, "So, I wanted to bring up a little something." Her words made your stomach twist unsurely, you knew what was coming, "There have been rumors that you and Timothée Chalamet are involved in some way, and I'd just like to ask if that rumor is true?"
You could feel your cheeks grow hot, as your eyes glanced down the carpet, seeing Zendaya and Timothée further down. You couldn't help but let your eyes wander over Timothée, wearing a black baggy top, and silver shiny pants. Zendaya wore an amazing robotic-eeque suit, which was mighty impressive. And Timothée looked absolutely handsome, the lights of the multiple cameras flashing as he smiled with Daya by his side.
You let out an awkward, breathy laugh, turning back to the interviewer, "Well, we're just really good friends. TimothĂ©e has been my biggest supporter through everything, the same goes for Zendaya, and I feel really lucky to have worked alongside them in this movie." You said as professionally as you could as Jody gave you and nodded in thanks before you were asked to go to your first mark. Â
Standing before the flashing cameras and paparazzi yelling out your name, you posed and looked at the many cameras as best as you could. Your eyes burned from the constant flashing but your smile never wavered. You had been doing this for a long time, so you were pretty used to it. You were snapped out of your thoughts though when you felt a familiar hand wrap around your waist. Your faux camera-ready smile quickly turned into a real one when you looked over to see TimothĂ©e, already looking down at you. His green eyes were soft as they took you in, and you felt yourself melt under his gaze as he gave you a soft, loving smile.Â
"Hi, Timmy," You greeted your boyfriend, leaning in more toward him subconsciously, hoping he could hear you over all of the people; you felt his grip on you tighten.
"Hello, mon amour," He muttered, his voice deep. His eyes flickered to the cameras, then back to you, "I've missed you," He then said, and you looked up at him once more, giving him a smirk with a small tilt of your head as your eyes glanced from his eyes, to his hair, and back. You had to suppress the urge to run your fingers through his hair. But, you know that you'd have him all to yourself after the premiere was over.
Timothée was feeling ever-so-much the same, the urge to just lean down and kiss you was strong. His hands itched to pull you close, press against your body, and kiss every inch of skin that you could offer until the world fell away. But Timothée had to hold off on doing anything of the sort. He felt his smile widen, his eyes gazing from your eyes, the soft slope of your nose, and down to the smile on your face. He loved your smile. Your smile was breathtaking. He couldn't believe that he was dating you. You. He was so in love with you. He felt so lucky to get to wake up and see you beside him, to share his moments with you, to just be with you. He had no difficulty imagining spending the rest of his life with you.
"We saw each other no more than four hours ago, Timmy," You laughed lightly, breaking him from his thoughts of you as you felt your cheeks heat up from his intense gaze.
TimothĂ©e only returned your smirk, âAnd Iâve been missing you the moment we left the hotel," He turned back to face the cameras, looking like a complete natural. You felt your heart skip a beat at his comment, admiring the way he looked as he smiled at the cameras. You were so proud of him. You felt his hand tighten once more on your waist, his thumb brushing against the soft fabric as he waved to the many cameras with his other hand, "I'll see you inside?" He asked, and you gave him a nod.
"As always," You watched as he looked down at you once more before slipping his arm from your waist and taking your hand in his. Raising your hand to his lips, Timothée kept his beautiful green eyes locked on yours as he pressed a lingering kiss to the back of your hand; leaving you breathless. Reluctantly, he let go, your hand dropping back to your side as he headed to his mark. He got his kiss, and you got yours.
Letting out a happy sigh, you knew there were going to be rumors, tabloids, and whatever else talking about what had transpired but you didn't care. You were just content with having TimothĂ©e with you tonight, even for a little while. You could still feel the warmth that his arm had left, and it gave you butterflies in your stomach. You knew when this was all over, youâd be with him again, cuddled in your hotel room, and you couldnât wait.
Finally, you made it inside the theater, finding Timothée and sitting down beside him. He quickly turned his head when he felt you sit down, giving you that stunning smile of his. You returned the gesture happily, your heart swelling at just the sight of him. As the lights dimmed and the many celebrities around hushed, you felt Timothée's hand land on your thigh; your hand swiftly moved over to cover his. You bit your lip lightly as you let the soft pad of your thumb brush over his knuckles, he then interlocked his fingers with yours just as the film began to play. The intro music echoed throughout the theater, and the first scene began to play out.
How did you get so lucky?
Around more than halfway through the movie, your eyes began to droop. Your head fell to the side and landed on Timothée's shoulder. You tried to fight it, you really did, but you were tired and slightly overwhelmed by the paparazzi and flashing cameras. Timothée turned his head slightly, his nose brushing the crown of your head, a small smile on his face as he gently squeezed your hand.
"I'll wake you when it's over," He whispered to you, gently rubbing his thumb against your wrist, and you hummed quietly in response, "Go to sleep, sweetheart."
You slowly nodded, letting your eyes flutter close. How did he get so lucky?
~~~
When you opened your eyes, you frowned deeply, confused. You sat on your bed, phone in hand, on Tumblr. You looked around your hotel room, saw your TV playing some YouTube video, your clock on your bedside table read ten in the morning, and the sun was sitting high in the sky outside. You felt your shoulders drop, a deep breath falling out between your lips. You dropped your phone onto the mattress, rubbing your tired eyelids with the palms of your hands before you looked around your bedroom.Â
You were a bit confused, not remembering how you got into bed in the first place. You shut your eyes as you tried to remember the night before, remembering the premiere, but the memories from that event were blurry. It was hard to tell if you actually went to the premiere or if it was all a dream. Such large and public events were a bit stressful for you, and you often had to sleep the overwhelming sense of anxiety away before you could function properly.Â
But as you opened your eyes, you brought your gaze to the closet door, you spotted the garment bag that hung there; you could see your tan dress inside through the sheer fabric of the bag. Sweeping your gaze back around your room again, you spotted TimothĂ©eâs black premiere shirt draped over the hotel room chair; his black shoes were next to your heels by the closet. You sighed heavily, running your hands through your hair. It wasn't a dream, you had gone to the premiere. You knew that your anxiety sometimes caused you to forget details from these big and stressful events, and the more you sat there, the more you began to remember the events of the night before. Â
Letting out a small sigh of relief, you turned your attention to the other side of your bed, frowning slightly as TimothĂ©e wasn't there. Before you got out of bed to get ready for the day, your eyes spotted a small pink sticky note on TimothĂ©e's bedside table. Reaching over, you pulled the sticky note from the wooden surface, your small frown turning upside-down at the sight of TimothĂ©e's handwriting.Â
'I got a call from my manager, I didn't want to disturb you. Ordering breakfast whenever youâre ready. Forever yours, T.'
Kicking off the hotel covers, you felt your stomach rumble at the mere thought of food. With a smile, you jumped from the bed and slipped out of the room, your eyes immediately spotting TimothĂ©e as he lightly paced around the main area of the hotel suite, phone to his ear as he spoke to his manager. You leaned against the doorway, crossing your leg over the other, your arms crossing as you smiled; watching as TimothĂ©e's eyes darted to where you stood, his expression changing instantly as he gave you a second glance.Â
His face softened as soon as you smiled at him, pausing his pacing, unable to look away from you. Timothée finished whatever he was saying to his manager before hanging up the phone and walking towards you, "Good morning, mon amour," He greeted, stopping in front of you as he tucked your hair behind your ear and cupped your cheek with one of his hands, dipping down slightly to press a loving kiss to your lips, "Sleep well?"
You hummed softly, nodding your head, "Very much so, yes." You replied, pressing your hand against his hand on your cheek, his skin warm and soft under your fingertips.
He chuckled softly, pulling away from your touch and taking your hand in his, leading you backward into the suite. "Ready for breakfast then?"
"Absolutely," You nodded, your chest warming from the overwhelming happiness and adoration that you were feeling, "I'm starving."
Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2020
Now Iâve got my embarrassingly late âBest of 2019âČ list out of the way, I can finally proceed to the list thatâs probably more exciting - my most anticipated films of 2020!
This list excludes films that have already been screened at festivals (otherwise, stuff like Saint Maud would be here). Itâs also somewhat analogous to groping about for a light switch in the dark - these lists very rarely accurately predict my ultimate favourites for the year, so itâs more of a fun speculative exercise. Hopefully this puts some intriguing-looking films on your radar for the year ahead!Â
1. Dune (dir. Denis Villeneuve)
Plot: The story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.
Why be excited? The reasons to be excited about Dune should be pretty self-evident - itâs directed by one of the greatest filmmakers working today (Villeneuveâs Incendies and Blade Runner 2049 are all-timers for me), and is based on one of the best science-fiction novels ever written. The cast - TimothĂ©e Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling, and more - is absolutely stacked with talent. Thereâs every reason to believe that this will be something special, and I couldnât be more pleased that Villeneuve is the man responsible for filling that Star Wars-shaped hole in the December release schedule.
2. Annette (dir. Leos Carax)
Plot:Â A stand-up comedian (Adam Driver), and his opera singer wife (Marion Cotillard), have a two-year-old daughter with a surprising gift.
Why be excited? You may not have heard of him, but Leos Carax is one of the most exciting directors working - he only makes around one film a decade, but the films he does make tend to be very special. Iâve only seen one film of his - Lovers on the Bridge - but that was filled with such ecstatic romance and wondrous visuals that it made me tremendously excited for Annette. Annette is a top-to-bottom musical with songs by American duo Sparks (if you know them for anything, it will be âThis Town Ainât Big Enough for the Both of Usâ), and said songs will be delivered by Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. It goes without saying that both actors are extremely talented performers with great voices (see Driver in Marriage Story and Cotillard in Nine for evidence), and Iâm looking forward to seeing how they demonstrate their talents here.
3. Last Night in Solo (dir. Edgar Wright)
Plot:Â A young girl (Thomasin McKenzie), passionate in fashion design, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer (Anya Taylor-Joy). But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.
Why be excited? Iâm not the biggest Edgar Wright fan, but I admire him greatly and the premise of Last Night in Soho is like cat-nip to me. Speaking to Empire, Wright explained the story as follows:Â âIâm taking a premise whereby you have a character who, in a sort of abstract way, gets to travel in time. And the reality of the decade is maybe not what she imagines. It has an element of âbe careful what you wish forâ.â Iâm a sucker for a good, old-fashioned high concept, especially when said films play with genre and really challenge the viewer. The two female leads - Thomasin McKenzie (JoJo Rabbit, Leave No Trace) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Emma) - are among the very best young actors working today, and the supporting cast features absolute legends such as Diana Rigg and Terence Stamp. Whether itâs successful or not, this film feels like a genuinely original prospect and Iâm eager to see how it turns out.
4. The Green Knight (dir. David Lowery)
Plot:Â A fantasy re-telling of the medieval tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Why be excited? There has been a sad lack of films based on mythology in recent years - or, to be more accurate, there has been a sad lack of films that attempt to honour what the myths were actually trying to convey. The stunning trailer for Green Knight promises a film that genuinely engages with its source material, and is just as interested in the psychological truths of the tale as the spectacle of its fantastical scenarios. Dev Patel is an extremely talented actor coming off another great movie in The Personal History of David Copperfield, and the supporting cast (Alicia Vikander!) appear to be fully committed to their parts. Iâm excited to see a true myth on the big screen again, and David Lowery (A Ghost Story, The Old Man & The Gun) can be trusted to give an old tale a new sense of vitality.Â
5. The French Dispatch (dir. Wes Anderson)
Plot:Â The staff of a European publication decides to publish a memorial edition highlighting the three best stories from the last decade: an artist sentenced to life imprisonment, student riots, and a kidnapping resolved by a chef.
Why be excited? Itâs a Wes Anderson movie! Of course Iâm excited! In all seriousness, the trailer was all I needed to get hyped about this. Itâs clearly Andersonâs quintessential style, but it also shows flashes of some very bold and striking compositions (yes, Iâm thinking of Chalamet on the back of that motorcycle) that you wouldnât necessarily think of in relation to him. Iâm intrigued by the prospect of there being stories nested within a story, which feels like the perfect choice for the structure of a film about a newspaper. The cast features all of Andersonâs old favourites (Swinton! Murray! McDormand!), as well as some exciting new additions (TimothĂ©e Chalamet, Elisabeth Moss, Christoph Waltz, among others) that feel so well-suited to his style itâs surprising they havenât worked together before. Bring on all those immaculately composed shots and exquisite colour palettes.
6. Tenet (dir. Christopher Nolan)
Plot: Unknown. The project is described as an action epic revolving around international espionage.
Why be excited? I hate to sound repetitive, but ... itâs a Christopher Nolan movie. That alone is enough to be hyped about this. Details of the plot are vague for now, but the teaser suggests the sort of intelligent, high-concept film-making weâve come to expect from Nolan. John David Washington - who impressed in BlacKkKlansman - is a great choice for the lead, and I also love that Tenet will feature Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki (among my favourite actors) in prominent roles. Thereâs not much else to say given how little we know about this, but suffice to say Iâll be there on day one!
7. Wonder Woman 1984 (dir. Patty Jenkins)
Plot:Â Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah (Kristen Wiig).
Why be excited? The original Wonder Woman was an absolute delight, and I couldnât be more pleased that Patty Jenkins is back to continue Dianaâs story. The decision to pick up with Diana in the 1980s is most intriguing (and paves the way for all kinds of exciting choices when it comes to the music and the fashions), especially since it looks like the film is actually going to explore the implications of being an immortal being in a mortal world.Â
8. Raya and the Last Dragon (dir. Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins)
Plot:Â A lone warrior from the fantasy kingdom of Kumandra teams up with a crew of misfits in her quest to find the Last Dragon and bring light and unity back to their world.
Why be excited? The animation scene in 2020 looks kind of ... blah at the moment, with the notable exception of Raya and the Last Dragon. The setting was described by the filmâs producer as "a reimagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization that venerated the mythical dragons for their power and their wisdomâ, and that alone is enough to fire up my imagination. Off the back of Moana and the Frozen films (which I all unabashedly love), I trust Disney Animation to instil this with plenty of colour and verve.
9. Iâm Thinking of Ending Things (dir. Charlie Kaufman)
Plot:Â An unexpected detour turns a coupleâs road trip into a terrifying journey through their fragile psyches.
Why be excited? Directed by Charlie Kaufman (writer of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Iâm Thinking of Ending Things is based on a prize-winning novel. However, despite the pedigree the main reason Iâm looking forward to this is Jessie Buckley. Buckley gave a star-making performance in Beast a few years ago, and has since proven herself an actor of immense talent and skill (see Wild Rose for proof of what a powerhouse she is). Iâm excited to see her career continue to go from strength to strength, and Iâm Thinking of Ending Things seems poised to be a great showcase for her.
10. The Last Duel (dir. Ridley Scott)
Plot:Â King Charles VI declares that Knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) settle his dispute with his squire (Adam Driver) by challenging him to a duel.
Why be excited? Ridley Scott is a bit of a mixed bag for me, and has never come close to reaching the heights of Alien and Blade Runner with his recent work. Nonetheless, against my better judgement I canât help but be excited by the prospect of a medieval epic with Scott at the helm. The acting talent attached to The Last Duel is top-notch, and Iâm particularly fond of Jodie Comer (of Killing Eve fame) and Adam Driver (do you really need me to say more?). Thereâs a very real danger of the highly sensitive plot (the âdisputeâ at the heart of the story concerns an accusation of rape, the truth of which is to be determined with a duel) being mishandled by Scott, but the involvement of screenwriter Nicole Holofcener gives me some hope. This could turn out to be a misfire, but my hope is that it will, at the very least, be interesting.
Bad Mood Rising
Sam Winchester x Female!Reader
Warnings: cheesy title, canon typical violence/mention of gore, language, a hint of mild angst?, smut (vaginal sex).
Words: 2,269
Note:Â Again, feedback is appreciated. Iâm still getting the hang of writing reader inserts. Thanks!
Blue lights flickered in your rearview mirror. Shit, that the hell did you do now? You werenât speeding, and your car was registered. Not registered to you, but that didnât really matter. It wasnât stolen.
You pulled over to the curb and shut the car off as you waited for the officer to babble some bullshit story about your tail light or something.
âY/N?â you heard the instant you rolled your window down. Your gaze snapped to the tall, thin figure beside you. Sheriff uniform, check. Familiar face, check.
âSam? What theâHow the hell did you find me?â you snapped. There was no way he could have known where you were. You were three states over from home and had absolutely no ties to the part of Nebraska you were rolling through.
Sam pursed his lips, then tapped on the door. âIâm glad I found you before they did. There was a pack of werewolves on your tail since Iowa.â His voice was barely a whisper over the passing traffic. âI think they know about you.â
Your eyes widened. Shit. No, they couldnât know. Youâve been so careful to keep your little, well, condition under wraps as you hunted the very beasts that made you who you were. You shook your head.
âHow? Itâs not like Iâm out at night or anythingââ
âAnd thatâs just it,â Sam interrupted. âYouâre not acting like a normal werewolf.â
âIâm not a normalwerewolf, Sam,â you mouthed. Sam let out a long sigh, then opened your door for you.
âWe need to get you somewhere safe. They werenât far behind when I started tailing you. Theyâve backed off a little since then, but we may only have minutes before they catch up.â He stretched out his long arm and motioned for you to get up.
âMy stuff is in the trunk.â You turned and lifted yourself from the driverâs seat. âGive me a minute,â you snapped. Sam took a step back, and you offered a silent apology. It wasnât him who was putting you on edge.
You had hidden yourself for the last seven years, since the night a werewolf had bitten you in the shoulder and left you to bleed in an alley. Sure, a bite meant you were turned, and there was only a small window of time you had to get a cure. But, you were alone, and no one was there to keep you from turning.
There was only one small hitch, you didnât exactly turn. Once you ended up at the steps of the Winchesterâs bunker, you realized that you may not ever completely transform. Instead, you were only mildly affected by the phases of the moon, leading the boys and you to come to one conclusion.
You were somehow immune to the bite.
Now, you did have some changes, but never anything enough to make you dangerous. Your sense of smell heightened during the full moon, and your overall hunger. Oh, and you sex drive was through the fucking roof. Other than that, you were just stronger than the average human most of the time. You werenât a wolf, or some sort of freak hybrid. You were just⊠you.
Sam led you around your small hatchback to the trunk, where you gathered your small arsenal of weapons and a few lore books, then headed for the sheriff car Sam was sporting. He grabbed one of the bags off your shoulder and shuffled you over to the car, then ushered you into the back seat. He probably wanted to keep some sort of appearance for the onlookers that were no doubt eyeing the two of you.
Your ass hit the stiff back seat a little harder than you thought it would, forcing an ooffrom your lungs. Then, Sam slammed the car in gear and floored the two of you down the road.
**
Sam pulled up to a motel about an hour from where you had left your car. It was a dive, per the Winchester usual, but it didnât look like the scene of any recent murder. So, that was promising.
Sam quietly helped you schlep all of your belongings into the surprisingly large motel room. There were two beds, doubles, and an adjacent bathroom. To the right of the door, there was a small, apparently ancient sitting area with a love seat and table for two.
âSorry to just pluck you out of whatever you were doing, but Dean and I have been trailing these guys for a while now. We spotted you at that truck stop in Cedar Rapids. Thatâs when we realized that they werenât running from us, they were chasing you.â Sam peeled off his jacket and chucked it onto the loveseat, exposing the toned muscles of his shoulders under his thin thermal. You turned away immediately, furiously trying to chase off the memories of those very muscles under your fingertips.
âSo, you think they know about my immunity?â you deadpanned. Sam simply nodded before taking a seat at the small table.
âIâm sure they do. What else would they want with you?â
âThanks,â you huffed. Sam smirked, shaking his head.
âThatâs not what I mean. Itâs just that werewolves donât usually hunt hunters. Sure, theyâll fight back, but they arenât instigators. Not like vampires.â You nodded in agreement. It all made since.
âWhat, are they going to make some sort of cure with me?â You plopped down onto the loveseat. You ignored your pounding heart as you focused on the conversation. âOr make some sort of super werewolf army?â Sam shrugged.
âWho knows? But, they must see you as some sort of either threat or benefit. They were definitely interested in you.â He turned towards the window, inspecting the small slit of moonlight that beamed though the top of the curtains. âItâs a full moon.â
âYeah, Iâm aware.â You leaned back and your mind began to race. âSo, these fuckers are hunting me instead of hunting their next meal? How would their biology let them do that?â It didnât make sense. You could feel the full moon, and you didnât need to hunt. How could the pack resist the urge to hunt without losing their minds?
Sam let out a breath. âIâm sure they arenât following us now. They canât resist a meal. So, weâre at an advantage.â He smiled. âWeâre safe for the night.â
Like that was any sort of relief. These guys would be almost back to themselves by morning, and they were probably within an hourâs drive from you. So, why the hell were you stopping there?
âSo, we arenât going to try to get more of a distance between us and them?â you muttered, trying not to look at Sam. Your breathing had quickened a little, signaling that the moon was starting to take its full affect. Your blood coursed through your veins, making you suddenly overheated.
Sam shook his head, studying you. He noticed your discomfort. âNo. Dean wants us to hang close in case something goes down.â You shot up from your seat.
âDeanâs going in there alone? No!â
âNo, Y/N. He has Cas with him, and our friend Jody. They can handle it. He said that I would be the best person to watch you through tonight.â And thatâs where Dean was wrong. You and Sam had a history, there was no denying that. But, you had steered clear of the man for the last two years, leaving him out of sight and out of mind. Well, almost out of mind.
Now, he was very much in sight, and the primal thread that raced through you now was making sure he was the only thing clouding your mind.
âFine. Thatâs fine. I justâI need to change. Sleeping though the cycle is usually the best move for me.â It was an outright lie. You could never sleep though the full moon, but you needed an excuse to get out of that room.
So, you grabbed your bag and excused yourself to the bathroom. A nice shower would be a good way to get Sam out of your mind. And it would help soothe the ache that pulsed under your skin.
You turned the knob on the hot water and waited for the steam to rise. Then, you entered the blue and orange tiled shower, allowing the heat to devour you.
You could hear Sam shuffling on the other side of the door. Small grunts and sighs filled your supersonic hearing. Shit, were you ever going to get an escape from him? Why couldnât Dean or Cas have been the ones to pick you up. No, it was Sam Winchester, the sweet and spicy man who made every single one of your nerve flare by the mere mention of his name.
You heard the movement of clothing, sending your imagination into overdrive. You were sure he was changing right now, removing that thermal and exposing those sand dune shoulders. Your mind focused on the memory of his long arms encompassing you, sliding you down creamy sheets and under this thundering form.
The thud of the opening door jarred you from your daydream. âSam?â you called out from your steamy fog. You were met by the sound of footsteps, nearly forcing your heart from your chest. âSam?â
âY/N,â Sam answered with a growl.
And with that one word, you were done for.
You peeled the show curtain back, revealing a very naked, and very aroused Sam staring back at you. You sucked in a breath as you released any last bit of restraint left in your body.
âSam,â you groaned as he approached you and practically leapt into the shower with you. Your arms stretched, latching onto the towering man as if for dear life. Your ears pounded and your body buzzed as his hands pulled and tugged at any bit of flesh he could grasp.
Your lips met the moment Sam pinned you against the cool tile. His tongue quickly dominated your mouth as he nipped and sucked on your lips. One of his hands found itâs place on your ass, squeezing your cheek while he rolled his hips against you.
Samâs cock skimmed over your lower stomach, forcing a moan to leave your bound lips. His other hand smoothed down your chest, fingers latching onto one of your nipples, coaxing out a moan.
âSam,â you huffed. Your head rolled back onto the tile as you let the gorgeous man over you completely take over. His hand slowly lifted from your breast, migrating done to your aching pussy. Your breathing hitched the moment his calloused finger skirted over your clit. You rocked your hips while he nipped against your neck to your shoulder.
Sam slipped his finger further, just barely entering your soaked hole. He groaned at the feeling of your slick encasing his digit.
âOh, Y/N, I missed this,â he purred into your ear. Then, he scraped his teeth over your earlobe.
âJust shut up and fuck me, Sam,â you commanded. He let out a low chuckle, then he lifted his hand and gripped your right leg. You lifted it up, allowing him to support you against the tile. He lined himself up with your entrance, then paused.
His golden gaze scanned over your face, studying you. You could hear his heart roaring through his chest. There was a glimmer of the gentle part of Sam, the part most people saw, gazing down at you. But, the moment you rolled your hips against him, he lost it.
Sam lifted you ever so slightly, then lowered you down onto his cock. Your nails dug into his smooth shoulders as he stretched you, filling you more than you remembered.
The moment he bottomed out inside you, he began his slow rhythm, pinning you against the wall. He held you impossibly close, moving his lips from your own, to your neck, then back again. Your breathing turned into pants as your body soared on the high of the full moon.
Samâs hand traveled down to your clit and his finger pressed just right over the throbbing nub. You didnât know how close you were to your climax until your orgasm was already pulsing though every nerve.
âSam!â you shrieked while the pounding waves of your arousal washed over your dripping skin. You wiggled as each pulse hit you, but Sam kept you pinned beneath him, quickening his pace. He rocked against you and grit his teeth. He was close; you could sense it.
Just as your climax eased, Sam curled his fingers around your hips and spilled deep inside you. He bucked and moaned as he chased his high, before finally slumping against your body.
The two of you huffed as you struggled to catch your breath. The water was barely lukewarm by now, but it felt good against your searing skin. Even though your bones ached, you never wanted that feeling to go away.
A minute later, Samâs large hand cupped your cheek. His lips skimmed over yours. Then, he pulled away.
âY/N,â he repeated. His face changed. The primal need behind his eyes was gone, and replaced by a caring, soft light that made your pounding heart flutter. You just pressed your lips against his and savored the taste of him.
You didnât know if you would be gone before the morning, leaving him behind like last time. Or, if you would give in and let Sam Winchester enter your life for good. All you knew was that you wanted him to be there right now, and that wasnât the full moon talking.
Season 8, Mission 13: On The Rocks
Here we stand
~
SAM YAO: Janine, I'm really not sure you should be pushing yourself like this.
JANINE DE LUCA: Saying it a 38th time will not discourage me any more than the previous 37, Mr. Yao.
SAM YAO: Look, a few days ago you could barely stand, and now you're running around like nothing's wrong. The potion Five got from the scientists on Dearg might have slowed down the nanites, but you're still... [sigh] I mean, you're not well, Janine. I can tell by looking at you.
JANINE DE LUCA: Mr. Yao, since Jones destroyed the armory, zombies have been encroaching on this island in ones and twos. We now have run out of what little ammunition survived Jones' attack. The patrols at the caves can no longer fend off the zombies approaching from the sea.
Reports from last night suggest that the previously dormant zombies on Niomh Island are on the move. Fewer zombies are visible on the island. Several have been observed walking into the sea. All indication is that there is a large horde headed toward Mor Island underwater.
We have no effective weapons, no cure, and no support coming. As the most experienced tactical mind on this island, it would be grossly irresponsible for me to spend this time reclining!
SAM YAO: Well... yeah. Okay. I mean, I can't argue the point. But still!
JANINE DE LUCA: Five, plans are underway for a defense against the coming horde, but time is short. I will brief you on our strategy as we make the final preparations. Our first stop is with Dr. Cohen in the center of town. Let's go.
~
[crowd chatters]
JANINE DE LUCA: Keep going through the town square, Five. As you can see, the streets are abuzz with people evacuating their houses. Dr. Cohen ought to be near the clock tower, coordinating the effort.
MORAG BROWN: You're ordering these people to leave their homes!
PAULA COHEN: We discussed this at the town hall, Morag. We can't defend a town of this size.
MORAG BROWN: Some families have had these homes for generations. It's our right to die where we've lived!
JANINE DE LUCA: Dr. Cohen. Miss Brown, nobody has to die here. We are putting a plan in place.
MORAG BROWN: And if you had any confidence in this plan, you wouldn't be sending all the children off the island in rowboats!
JANINE DE LUCA: Miss Brown, we are decamping as many as we can to secure buildings in the archipelago. There simply aren't enough boats to get everyone out in time. Everyone else must relocate to the laird's residence. It's the largest and most secure building on the isle.
MORAG BROWN: Don't you think I bloody know that? Do you not see I'm just bloody terrified? Bloody outsiders. Judgment Day comes and you expect the blitz bloody spirit from everyone in sight. And you, William Donny! I see you trying to load a stereo into that wheelbarrow.
SAM YAO: She's got a point, Janine. These people are scared. They think they're going to die.
JANINE DE LUCA: That's why it's important they see us here, readying to defend them.
PAULA COHEN: Here. Jody got the local carpenters to break down all the furniture we could find to make arrows. There's about a hundred in the bags. You shouldn't be on your feet, Janine. I trust Sam's been going on about it?
SAM YAO: I really have.
JANINE DE LUCA: I trust you are wiser than he, Dr. Cohen.
PAULA COHEN: It's your choice, Janine. I know how frustrating it is to fight your own body.
JANINE DE LUCA: As with any battle, Doctor, it begins with squaring one's mindset. Come on, Five. These arrows are needed on the beach, and we must deliver them. Run!
~
[zombie moans, bow string stretches, arrow thuds into zombie skull]
JODY MARSH: Good shot, Dr. Hines! Right in the forehead of that zombie.
JANINE DE LUCA: Miss Marsh, how goes the archery?
JODY MARSH: We've got zombies shambling onto the beach in small groups. This dune is pretty good for taking them out. It overlooks the surf. And of the six islanders who've volunteered to learn archery, turns out four are pretty good.
SAM YAO: Can you see the birds, Janine? I don't have any cams on Faoileig Sands.
[seagulls caw]
JANINE DE LUCA: We see them. See that huge vortex of gulls on the horizon, Five? Those birds mark the zombie approach. There's a large horde underwater and bits of their flesh are drifting to the surface, attracting scavengers. Miss Marsh, we bring you arrows from town. The evacuation is underway. How long can your archers hold this beach?
JODY MARSH: We're okay dealing with small numbers, but when the bulk of that horde arrives...
JANINE DE LUCA: Understood. Your job is to buy the evacuation as much time as you can, then fall back. That is phase one of the plan. Watch out for that large man carrying a log, Runner Five!
SAM YAO: And who is he, exactly?
JODY MARSH: That's Albert. Hebrides caber tossing champion three years running. He's going to chuck logs at the zoms when we fall back, buy us extra time to get away.
JANINE DE LUCA: Local ingenuity at its finest. Come along, Five. Our next stop is the laird, and he won't want us to be late. Run.
~
[crowd chatters]
JANINE DE LUCA: There's the laird's manor, Five. Rather reminds me of a boarding school I once infiltrated. And that's the laird, addressing the crowd at his door.
LAIRD REID: Everybody into the house! There's plenty of room to spare. We've got blankets and board games. Please don't touch anything that looks more than a hundred years old! Colonel De Luca, as directed, the townspeople are flocking into my humble home. [metal clatters] Oi, that was a 16th century suit of armor! Try to be careful!
JANINE DE LUCA: It looks like you have things under control.
LAIRD REID: I have the [?] you requested. The accordion and pipes from my family's musical collection. Jones has brought a terrible darkness to this island, Colonel. I cannot thank you enough for working to destroy â [glass shatters] Excuse me. I must keep the crowd under control.
SAM YAO: Uh, just got an update from Jody, Janine. She says the gulls are over halfway to shore.
JANINE DE LUCA: Then we must hurry. I expect you're curious about the musical instruments, Five. They are phase two. Chief Macallan is awaiting them near the wind farm. Run.
~
[music from various instruments including bagpipes]
JANINE DE LUCA: There's Chief Macallan, Five, by that stream just east of the wind farm.
SAM YAO: Yeah, I've got cams up in the area. Looks like the chief has all his deputies with him, and â the church choir? All playing instruments! Fiddles, drums, horns. Like a really weird folk band.
JANINE DE LUCA: This is phase two, Five. Chief Macallan and those locals are an improvised noisemaker. [shouts]
DUNCAN MACALLAN: Colonel De Luca, are you all right?
JANINE DE LUCA: Just a sprain, Chief Macallan. I assume Dr. Cohen delivered my briefing to you?
DUNCAN MACALLAN: Paula stopped by the station first thing this morning. As I understand it, we're just to stand here and make lots of noise.
JANINE DE LUCA: The zombies must be pulled well away from the laird's manor. You will create noise to draw them to this location. It's vital you do not let them get too close to you or your people. The instant you hear moans in the distance, you must drop your instruments and withdraw.
DUNCAN MACALLAN: Aye, to the caves half a mile from here, you said. You're sure we can hide there from the zoms?
JANINE DE LUCA: This spot was chosen for its proximity to a good hiding place, and the zombies will be preoccupied by our final distraction.
DUNCAN MACALLAN: Colonel, safeguarding this island should be my job. Jones, and now this...
JANINE DE LUCA: We rise to the occasion, Chief. I have no doubt you will. Five, next is our final stop. the cliffs to the south. With me. Run!
~
JANINE DE LUCA: These cliffs are rather dramatic, aren't they, Five? [laughs]
SAM YAO: Jody just checked in, Janine. More and more zoms are coming ashore.
JANINE DE LUCA: Understood, Mr. Yao. Look to your left, Five. See Shona and that group of islanders? More volunteer defenders. They're equipped with pitchforks in case of combat, but combat is not the plan. [zombies moans] Look to your right. There is a zombie secured to a boulder with rope, caught by Tom wandering a beach this morning. It is safe. Tom is standing vigil with a claymore.
SAM YAO: That is one very Highlander sword. Only sharp weapon in the laird's collection, apparently.
TOM DE LUCA; We're all ready for the demonstration. I could perform the demo instead, Janine, if you need it.
JANINE DE LUCA: What I need, Tom, is to feel like myself. I'm an asset, never a burden.
TOM DE LUCA: Janie, you're saving this whole island! You'll always be asset condition 1. All right, I'm going to cut all but one of the rope lines restraining the zombie, then stand back. It won't take long for the zom to break free of the final rope.
JANINE DE LUCA: Five, you take position over there. I will stay here. Shona's already seen a McShell maneuver in action. Now you and I will demonstrate it to the rest. When the zombie is free, you run right, and I go left. The zombie will be caught in the middle and will march over the cliff. Don't worry about me, Five. I know I can do this!
TOM DE LUCA: Ropes cut. The zombie's breaking free. That didn't take long. It's going straight for you!
JANINE DE LUCA: Five, run!
~
[zombie growls]
JANINE DE LUCA: Good job, Five. That zombie went straight over the cliff.
SHONA: So there you go, folks. That's what a McShell maneuver looks like. The zombie just gets caught in the middle.
TOM DE LUCA: Zombies get rather confused when prey is equidistant. They just keep going in a straight line.
JANINE DE LUCA: Hence plan three of our defense strategy. Once Chief Macallan lures the zombies to a designated point, Five and I will close in on them from either side. We will herd them over this cliff to smash on the rocks below.
SAM YAO: It's tricky to keep a McShell stable for long, Janine. What if something goes wrong?
JANINE DE LUCA: That is what Shona and her volunteers are for. Now that they've seen how it's done, if Five and I fail, Tom can lead them in making a second attempt.
SHONA: The rocks down there should be enough to splat the zoms when they go over, but just in case, some of us climbed down this morning and coiled barbed wire nets over the rocks. Any zoms that don't get pulped will get tangled up in it. The tides'll tear them apart.
JANINE DE LUCA: A very sensible additional defense.
SHONA: Least we can do when you're doing so much for us.
SAM YAO: Got another update from the beach, Janine. The horde's almost there.
JANINE DE LUCA: And our plan is in place. Miss Marsh delays the zombies, Chief Macallan lures them, and Five and I throw them off a cliff. I won't lie, the chances of every element working as intended are slim. We must perform at our best. I have seen enough communities fall to the zombie apocalypse. I do not intend to see another! On this island, here and now, this is where we make a stand!
Reclaim the Void
Healing country through community and weaving. This is what I've just returned from after 9 days in the desert. An ambitious project, Reclaim the Void: weaving country whole was "born from Ngalia elders in Leonora... expressing their pain and grief at âthose gaping mining holes left all over our countryâ. The idea was conceived to symbolically âsealâ one of the holes with an artwork expressing the story of country." To read more about the project, head to https://www.reclaimthevoid.com.au/
Originally meant to only be out at Leonora, due to heavy rain closing the roads we started the retreat for 3 days at Lake Ballard, so I came back. I didn't mind though, as I felt like that land was still calling to me (I really didn't want to leave it in the first place).
Back in the red dust, I learnt a bit more about the significance of the place and that the rock in the centre of the salt lake actually is the seventh sister laid to rest, and the First Nations people of the area request it's not climbed. So, I made sure to have my little moment to apologise to Her for my ignorance when I climbed her the other day. I hope she accepted it.
We all trickled out there and found a spot tucked away in the dunes, however it took no time at all to feel like it was just a gathering of old friends. It's amazing how a project can call to such like-minded people. We had Jodie and Rochelle, Alex, the M&Ms (Maureen and Moira), Kal Karen and Karen, Michelle, Lyn, Erin, Ang, Jane, Gale, Julie, Nikki, Tanya, Deb our hosts Rachael, Fi and Viv and of course our cook Boonji (I really hope I got everyone!) Our Indigenous leader was Zabah and his trusty dog Smokey, who didn't meet up with us until we were on his Country in Leonora.
Mitzy turned quickly into 'Mitzy's Cafe', becoming a resting spot for flat whites, cuppas and respite from some wind and rain that got us into night two. We even fit the entire retreat under her awning at one point! She was also a charging station and was useful to help un-bog the kitchen truck with my trax. It felt good to provide :)
Our days consisted of rising at about 7am, moseying in camp and around the fire enjoying coffee and tea, eagerly awaiting Boonji's delicious porridge or polenta or scrambled eggs. Then, after enough gas bagging, we'd get to the important stuff which was weaving! Often it was interspersed with lovely nature walks, painting or naps.
Sadly, we did have to say goodbye to our beautiful first camp in Lake Ballard to travel to Leonora. I'll make another post about that!
