Jocko began by meditating on the basic fact that nearly everyone enjoys music. It's one of those uncommon things that tends to unite people, regardless of where they come from or what they enjoy. He described how music links us, generating a shared experience, whether through a favorite song, a rhythm, or just a mood. For Jocko, the universality of music makes it so powerful—it doesn't matter what type of music you like, but how it makes you feel and who you share it with.

He discussed how music influences many aspects of our lives, altering our moods and experiences. Music is constantly there, whether you're in the gym working out, on a date, or simply relaxing at home. Jocko emphasized that it's not about the genre or style but about finding the music that fits your needs. That's what makes the music feel both personal and universal.

For Jocko, music is more than background noise; it's a tool that may change your perspective. The appropriate song may motivate, calm, or even help you concentrate. He described how music can be like a partner, meeting you where you are and propelling you forward or anchoring you when needed. Everyone has a playlist for life's milestones, making music unique and significant.

Finally, Jocko discussed music's eternal quality, as if it had always been a part of us. He used the statement, "We were born before the wind," to remind us that music, like the wind, has always been around, affecting our experiences in ways we may not be aware of. Welcome to the roleplaying community! There's always a few ups and downs when you're first getting set up, especially if you've only ever set up the one Tumblr for personal use, but there's always room to learn, and I find that people tend to be generally pretty accommodating if you're as polite as you've been on Anon! As for favourite music genres and song headcanons for Hank, I generally think he's a pretty open minded fellow? There are a good few bands and types of music we know for certain that he enjoys.

Something you'll often see assumed of Hank is that just because he's a man of the arts, well read, and eloquent, is that he's some kind of music snob, that he only listens to opera, that he only enjoys classical, that he looks down on 'lesser' forms of music. And I honestly just don't believe that would be the case?

Like . . . here's the thing. Hank may talk fancy, but he is still, at best, a middle class farm boy from Illinois. If he has an accent, it's probably closest to a Chicago accent, if he hasn't trained his voice to do something entirely different - he does mention his voice has changed during his feline mutation to a baritone, so it's not out of the question. But he is not (or at least, he should not be) a hoity toity snooty asshole.

This is something even writers often get wrong about him - they assume that he's the smart character, ergo he must be the snooty, elitist character, which is something Ben Percy leans into, but it's not even just him, it's Paul Di Filippo in X-Men Unlimited vol. 2 #8, too. It becomes an asshole trait, and it's just. Not. Accurate.

Hank likes all kinds of music. In fact, I struggle to think of a kind he's outright stated he hates, though he's been around for 60 years, I'm sure someone can correct me. He's a curious fellow! He likes to explore! He'll consume any media, he quotes 1940s Superman comics, he watches Robin Hood movies with Wonder Man, why in god's name would he be a snob?

As for headcanon? I have tons! I often think, hmm, this feels like a song Hank would like, or a song that feels like a Hank song, when I listen to music, because. You know. Big blue guy's p much always on the brain.

Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Joe Jackson - self deprecating, but also kind of a banger.

Carry on by fun - fun is an amazing band, and I definitely feel the lyricism and scale of their music would appeal to Hank.

Rain on Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande - I don't know if Hank would listen to this, but it has his vibe.

Cells by They Might Be Giants - I'm sorry, but have you fucking heard a band that more encapsulates Hank's personality?

Dr. Wanna Do by Caro Emerald - my old Abigail RP partner used to use this as her ringtone for Hank. I think Hank likes some jazz.

Cure for Me by Aurora - again, not one I think Hank would listen to, but again, it feels like Hank to me.

Very Good Advice by Robert Smith - Hank totally digs new wave and the Cure, and literary references mixed in with that vibe? Totally.

Moonshine by Caravan Palace - this song leads into Lone Digger by the same band, which I put on Dark Beast's playlist, representing the continuity between them. It has the right energy.

There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards by Ian Dury and the Blockheads - songs Hank would sing in the middle of the fight if it weren't full of swearing and comics were allowed to do that.

I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick - he does.

On Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz - this just has exactly the right energy.

I Will Dare by The Replacements - "How smart are you? / How dumb am I? / Don't count any of my advice. / Oh, meet me any place or anywhere or anytime / Now I don't care, meet me tonight / If you will dare, I might dare."

Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift - another one that doesn't feel quite like something Hank would listen to, but I think we can all relate to this song a little bit (does that make me a basic bitch? Maybe), and some of the lyrics are so awfully Hank. "I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror," like, fuck.

Turning Japanese by The Vapors - Iunno, I just think he'd like it. I often think that if I were gonna make an OG X-Factor movie, this is what would start the movie during a fight scene.

I would also like to give @brw a shoutout for their excellent Hank playlist, which introduced me to, among other things, Touch-Tone Telephone, which feels like Hank's theme song.

Oh, also, The Plastic Age by The Buggles. Hank absolutely loves prog-rock, you know he does. Oh, and showtunes! The man just will not stop singing, in the middle of fights or while being filmed for the nightly news, so he totally vibes with some Broadway. I'd also be lying if I said that Dust and Ashes doesn't feel like a New X-Men Grant Morrison Beast vibe all over. And Hank would love it! A musical based on War and Peace? Sign him the fuck up!

I doubt Sean or James Gunn is on Tumblr, but they should pay attention cause I have a big and long running Awesome Mix Vol. 3 playlist going for a while, and I ain’t fixing to stop anytime soon.  And a Lot of my up coming posts are gonna be Awesome Mix picks. 

I love, Starlord’s love for ballads.  It’s such a good choice, for the softly narcissistic, goofy masculine, jocko reject that he is.  And I can see him listening him listening to this on his zune, looking out in the vastness and wondering what his green love is up to.

those of you who have followed me for a long time might remember that i made a veritable shitton of yotsuba playlists between 2014 and 2018. well, it's been a few years and i decided a while ago that it's high time i do some intensive updating. i'm happy to announce that said intensive updating is now finished!

to summarize, i recently:

consolidated the four general yotsuba group playlists into one single playlist,

cut out songs that aren't accurate to my current understanding of the characters and/or run hugely afoul of my current music tastes,

added a some new songs,

reordered songs to improve flow,

and made new covers and titles.

these playlists were originally posted on 8tracks, which, while technically still around as far as i know, is basically unusable. rip. the playlists are now hosted on spotify and youtube, as they have been for a while.

i've made a rule for myself that each playlist has to have a minimum of eight songs on it, though, partially out of nostalgia for the old 8tracks requirements and also because, well, yotsuba. i also feel like eight is a good rule of thumb for showing i actually have enough songs to make a substantial playlist. because of this minimum, a few playlists that i struggled to find songs for might have some holdovers from the old iterations that are a bit further outside my current tastes, or that might be slight stretches. that's ok though because i do what i want.

i should add that not every playlist has been updated. in addition to the general yotsuba playlist, i've updated the eight playlists for the yotsubas' individual characters and most of the ship playlists. a few of the ship playlists didn't make the cut because i a) don't have nearly enough songs for them to reach the minimum, and b) don't care about those ships as much as i used to. those playlists are still up, i just haven't updated them and instead added [old] to their spotify titles.

in total, there are 17 updated yotsuba playlists - one for the entire group, eight for the characters, and eight for various ships. they're all up and presentable, and i've scheduled tumblr posts with the playlist cover, links, and briefly annotated tacklist for each specific playlist. the first post will be for the general yotsuba playlist and will go up on april 10, the 20th (!!!) anniversary of the six remaining yotsubas' deaths. after that, i've scheduled one post per week, going through the character playlists in order of their original creation and then the ship playlists in the order of their original creation. these posts should last through the end of july. of course, you're free to go ahead and give them a listen if you want. just check out the jocko's playlists tag to find my spotify/youtube, or shoot me a dm if you're looking for one in particular.

Jocko emphasized that it's not about the genre or style but about finding the music that fits your needs. That's what makes the music feel both personal and universal.

For Jocko, music is more than background noise; it's a tool that may change your perspective. The appropriate song may motivate, calm, or even help you concentrate. He described how music can be like a partner, meeting you where you are and propelling you forward or anchoring you when needed. Everyone has a playlist for life's milestones, making music unique and significant.

Finally, Jocko discussed music's eternal quality, as if it had always been a part of us. He used the statement, "We were born before the wind," to remind us that music, like the wind, has always been around, affecting our experiences in ways we may not be aware of. For him, music is more than simply something we listen to; it is something we live with, connecting us to the moments that make life special.

My Manifesto Of Me Myself and I

As a student in this 2020 online class I have noticed that some of my blogs have unifying values with each other. From My Playlist which included the song "Victory lap" by Nipsey Husle and the I"mage Of the head of medusa" and last but not least The Art work of the "Iwo Jima monument" here in cape coral. All three of these posts symbolize a part of me in various ways. My Playlist blog symbolizes how our emotions or should I say my emotions act day to day in life. I can either be hype by the song Victory lap or be in a different mood with the song "Numb" By Linkin Park. As for the head of medusa blog , for one I love Greek mythology so this is why I picked that article because it is so intriguing and the way they described the art was phenomenal . I have come to think these two blogs have some unifying values because they are both things I love and how my style is which is mixed yet simple at the same time. Another example of these blogs I posted would be The Mothers Day poem I related to. It shows how much I really appreciate my mother and what she has done for me while I was growing up. All three of these posts correlate with each other in one meaning an truly showing everyone who I am and what kind of person I have become through out the years of life. But what really brings me to realization about all three these posts is that every single one is a different as they can be but yet still some how some way correspond with each other . So this brings me to my final post I will be writing about which is "My Photo collection from Georgia / North Carolina". It shows all the places I visited and how colorful both of these places really were. In each picture I was able to capture so much landscape and the sun. It was very cold as you can somewhat see the ice on the leaf I took a picture of. Overall I believe all of these posts are connected with each other in their own way. Again they all lead back to one thing and that is it represents me , my style , and the way I am as a person. "My Manifesto Of Me Myself And I" will hopefully have an impact after it has been read. Before I go I wish to talk about one more of my posts , and that post is the video "Jocko Homo" By Deko. This very bizarre music video has so many bright colors and has so many weird characters. When the video starts off there is a man in a whole body suite running across what seems to be a junk yard full of old rusted vehicles and goes running upstairs and delivers a message to a general of some sort. This corresponds with all the other blogs because it has its own story and back round. Also it shows just how weird I can be as a person too but like I have said before all of these blogs have their own purpose and story to tell while they all seem to make sense with each other. All and all these blog posts represent who I am as a person and shows what I have done with my time while being in this class and how it reflects my work as well. These blogs also show what this class has taught about all the different types of arts and poems and how music and theater all have an effect on the real world. Even if its from the Iwo Jima monument showing how grateful we are to being a great nation or A piece of abstract art that represents more than just jagged edges and lines going through each other with all different types of colors and such. Everything has a story of its own even if it is the smallest thing in the world.
