This beautifully embroidered gown was first spotted on an extra in the 1969 film Anne of the Thousand Days. It’s possible that it originated with this film, but it is also plausible that the costume came from an earlier production.
The Carry On films are well known to have reused many costumes from earlier productions, and so it is no surprise that this piece was seen again in 1971 by Joan Sims as Queen Marie in Carry on Henry.
It’s possible that the costume was used further after 1971, as auction photos of the piece show an added ribbon around the neckline, as well as a different skirt.
In 2007, this dress was auctioned off by Bonhams in the auction entitled The Angels Star Collection of Film & TV Costumes, where the piece was described as follows:
A Tudor style Dress and matching cape, both being of heavily embroidered patterned fabric, dress with boned bustier, edged with applied gold braid, sleeves revealing heavily embroidered lining and laced back, labeled “Angels & Bermans The Costumiers to the Entertainment Industry.”
The piece ultimately sold for $1050.

The Doctor is summoned before the High Council of Time Lords to stand trial for the charges of harmful interference to the course of events during his space-time excursions, which have threatened the sanctity of the universe. Indignant at these accusations, the Doctor pleads his case to the Inquisitor with the hope that she will see him as a source of hope and goodwill for existence. However, his prosecuting attorney, a sinister Time Lord known simply as the Valeyard, begins a crusade against the Doctor's life with the motive of painting him out to be a villainous renegade. I'm not fond of stories that switch from different places, I'll be paying attention to one story and then boom, different story.
Sarah Jane was mentioned which I like.
It was also nice to see Joan Sims! I'm a big fan of her!
Overall the story wasn't bad, it wasn't one of my favourites though. But I enjoyed it enough.
(Please don't take these too seriously, I am not a real life reviewer, just someone who likes the show)

(Carry On) Don't Lose Your Head (1967) was the 13th movie in the franchise, and the first to be produced and distributed through the Rank Organisation rather than Anglo-Amalgamated. There were initial concerns in Rank that applying the 'Carry On' prefix might lead to legal complications with the previous distributors, so the movie was initially released as Don't Lose Your Head.
The setting is the French Revolution, and the efforts of Sir Rodney Ffing (the Black Fingernail) played by Sid James, in rescuing French aristocrats from the guillotine, with the help of Jim Dale and defying the head of the French Secret Police (Citizen Camembert - the Big Cheese) played by Kenneth Williams.
Joan Sims has one of the great Carry On lines, which was edited out in some releases.
She is discussing her aristocratic family, "My brother, the Count..."
(It was all in the delivery)
