Gojo sighed, long and loud, as he leaned back on the bench with his legs stretched out in front of him. “This is boooorring…..”

Gojo hated these co-academy events. ‘Goodwill Event’ his eye. There was no goodwill between any of them. Kyoto sucked, and was just a bunch of puffed shirts, and he couldn’t understand why they came all this way just to get their asses kicked.

Still, it was a nice break outside of classes.

“They’re gonna start soon.” Geto told him. Handing his best friend a melon soda, as sugar usually helped calm him down. “Would it kill you to be patient?”

“It might.” Gojo quipped back before sipping his soda. “You’re not a doctor.”

“No. I’m not. Speaking of, where’s Ieiri and [Y/N]?”

“They went to the bathroom I think?” Gojo replied. “Or something girl related like that.”

The Tokyo team this year was just the 4 of them. Which honestly meant it was just going to be the 2 of them. Gojo loved Ieiri and [Y/N] but their combat skills were no where near what his and Geto’s were. They were better at ‘behind the scenes’ stuff. Healing, cloaking, super sneaky stuff that was really of use to him because he always just smashed in since he was the strongest.

Still, he wasn’t worried about them against the curses they caught for the game. Nor anyone on the Kyoto team for that matter.

“Oh. There they are.” Geto commented dully as he saw girls faces come up over the hill. They had iced drinks. So they must have left and come back before the start of the ceremonies.

Just as they crested the stairs, however, a male blocked their path and started talking to them. Gojo didn’t recognize him. But based on his dumb, old-timey outfit he was wearing he figured he had to be from the Kyoto team.

The conversation goes on for a little while longer, before the man pushes into [Y/N]’s shoulders with two fingers. “Oy!” Gojo snapped. Jumping to his feet. Who the hell did they think they were touching [Y/N] like that?? They did it again and Gojo took a step forward before Geto caught him. “Let me go! You think I’m gonna let some goon touch [Y/N] like that!”

“If you kill him now, we’ll get disqualified.” Geto told him. Face pressed against his ear as he held him in a near choke hold.

“Like I care about that!”

The boys struggle for a moment longer. Gojo trying to break free and Geto desperately trying to hold him back from doing something stupid (like always), until they both stopped as the man suddenly fell to his knees with a groan of pain and the girls walked over to them. “What are you guys doing?”

“Trying to save Satoru from getting expelled.”

“What did that guy say to you?!” The boys reply over top of one another.

“I don’t know. Show of dominance I guess? I wasn’t really paying attention until he poked me. Which was just rude. I told him not to do it again and he did, then asked ‘what are you gonna do about it, so I kicked him in the balls.” [Y/N] took a sip of her drink before she added. “You really shouldn’t ‘assert dominance’ with your legs open like that.”

The boys flinch in sympathetic pain, then look over to the guy still on the ground, before they both laugh. “Well, I guess the Kyoto team is gonna be a man down, eh?”

“Let’s get going before we miss the opening ceremonies. Or he rallies and starts to pick a fight.”

“Trust me. No one is gonna ‘rally’ after a full kick from [Y/N].” Gojo replied. Before he linked hands with her and the 4 of them ran away.

Maybe it wasn’t going to be such a boring day after all.

Hey! I see you have many asks so I don't wanna add more to the list so this one is quick :)

I just want to say thank you genuinely from bottom of my heart for the gojo meta posts. Especially the one about his students and how he's not the best and perfect teacher for them. I see a lot of discourse that paints him as 'poor little mew mew' and all I want to say to that discourse is: yes and!!!! Yes he is poor little mew mew but let's not close our eyes on his flaws!!!

God I can't wait for this manga to be over already.

Gojo is a sad pathetic wet cat that pretends to be dry. He’s also a little bit racist, slightly misogynistic, has questionable morals, and is extremely annoying. I love him dearly.

Him trying his best and being cringefail is the appeal to me. Though I mostly blame the higher ups and his Clan for why he is the way he is at this point. (That Gojo Booklet did numbers on me.) 3 hours of sleep daily, constantly high on Reverse Cursed Energy and sugar. Raised as a weapon by an emotionally distant family that kept him walled off from the outside world, completely tanking his chances of proper socialization. He was set up for failure.

It’s just really unfortunate that the students (and Ijichi) got caught in the crossfires of Gojo’s unique and twisted psychological problems. And that kind of seems to be the point? How systemic issues ruin people’s lives.

I don’t want the manga to end though. There are too many plot things that should be expanded on. I’m hoping for a spin off for Heian Era lore, one-shots to fill in gaps, or more light novels. It’s hard not to want more when there are oodles of unexplored character interactions that are downright criminal.

im only at like episode nine or ten of jjk, gojo just revealed his eyes and WOW. i screamed and giggled and kicked my feet and scratched at myself and gnawed at my bedposts i was so excited. volcano head is doomed and so is my sanity.

i have a lot of issues with jjk in the recent years, but i do think the culling games colonies were enjoyable and fun, and that the character development and exploration tends to get overlooked. watching shibuya animated really made me realize that, even though i love that arc, it’s more about the chaos of that single day—the characters put in bombastic fights, power reveals, the villains’ plans set in motion, introductions of major plot lines and characters. kenjaku sealing gojo, yuuji’s entire fight with mahito, and toji’s second death were great emotional moments, but i like that chapters after the arc and in the culling games colonies make more time with self-reflection.

maki’s complicated relationship with her parents and sister, and her moment of enlightenment. panda’s familial bonds and having to say goodbye. yuuta discussing with uro and ryu on what’s meaningful in their lives, love, and the increasing pressure of being strong. yuuji’s overwhelming guilt and hatred of himself reflected in higuruma’s own past and thoughts, with him trying to spare yuuji from that blame. megumi trying to save tsumiki and yuuji, but inadvertently making everything worse, spiraling into killing others, and drowning in despair, when he’s the one who has to be saved. uraume’s funny relationship towards sukuna and kenjaku. kenjaku’s motivations unraveling with their desire to find something beyond their limits in a chaos they cannot control, and killing their friendships.

There’s more than that, but it was when I finally started to really love some of these characters, even ones we’ve known from the start of the series

to everyone who is complaining about the rapid ending of jjk and the decisions being made on how it's finishing i would like to say:

A. in order for these decisions to be different and also not feel cheesy as shit, there would have had to have been vastly different story decisions made wayyyy earlier in the manga. i'm talking culling games or before. a lot of the things that people want to see happen have no backing in the prior story. we all just spent an entire arc (rightfully imo) criticizing like... "oh of course sukuna has the perfect, previously unmentioned, incredibly niche skill to counteract this specific ct," but now you want more impossible things to happen that have not been foreshadowed or set up in-universe and you super pinky promise that this one won't make you upset? get real

B. one of the reasons the manga is being wrapped up so quickly is bc the fanbase is full of disrespectful vengeful assholes who sent gege death threats bc of his decisions to kill "their husbands." i wouldn't want to keep putting effort and energy into a story if that was the fan response either. gege is better than me bc my ass would have just stopped writing

C. one of the other reasons the manga is being wrapped up so quickly is bc of gege's health issues

D. all of the decisions make perfect sense for a plot-driven story. the plot that was laid out is coming to an end. and this has been, as gege has stated, a plot-focused story. he hasn't focused on character, so things that are happening now are not going to focus on character

now do i think that the story would have been better if it was character-driven yes. do i think it's good and smart and healthy for fans to criticize their favorite media yes. have fans been criticizing and complaining about their favorite media since the dawn of time obviously. but i also firmly believe that every criticism should come from a place of understanding and realization and not just "this is what i thought would/should happen and now im fucking pissed bc it didn't"
