w the latest jjba parts it's cool seeing Araki make references to the new artist/bands he likes but it's kinda wild seeing ppl act like this is idk new?? like w Jodio and Dragona listening to Dua Lipa or JJL having a stand named after a Lady Gaga song. ppl act like it's wild that Araki likes these ppl but he's always been a fan of mainstream contemporary music he's just been at it for so long that ppl have lost sight of that i think

REO Speedwagon was activity putting out new music when PB was being written. at the time of VA Metallica was one of the biggest bands in the world

Ooooh a JJBA question

Hard to say who is my favorite Joestar because it changes. When I started seriously getting into JJBA it was Joseph, then it was Johnny (he was a bastard but his story hit me hard), right now it's Jolyne (so much I dished out money to get the Stone Ocean Tuk Ang shop embroidered hoodie that's only sold in Japan). I love her resilience, her will, character development, relationships, her willingness to sacrifice herself for her loved ones, and to me she's the Joestar I vibe with the most. Her story is sad and her ending is so bittersweet. She

I've also been reading a lot of Gothic Horror and I've found myself analyzing the hell out of Phantom Blood so I've been having so much love for Jonathan (whom I also started appreciating more after reading the PB manga and he's pretty underrated IMO), and find myself wishing there was a Phantom Blood remake that had the same care to it placed that the latter JJBA parts were given.

Josuke, Giorno, Jotaro, and Gappy are OK too but I haven't felt that strongly for them as I have with Jolyne, Joseph, Johnny, and Jonathan. I also think Jotaro makes a better supporting/mentor character than MC or maybe I'm saying this because I loved both part 4 and Part 6 adult Jotaros more than I did the teenage MC cool Jotaro with a chip on his shoulder.

Also there's going to be a PB musical so there's that to look forward to.

As for villains, it's Dio. He might not be the deepest or most relatable character, but to me he's the most fun and entertaining, and as much as I like heroic characters to be more human, I do love when villains are straight up unhinged fun assholes. That said I am not a Dio apologist and I think he's irredeemable but I love him that way. The only stuff he didn't deserve is the abuse he got when he was a kid, specifically the abuse he got from his shit father (I totally get why he poisoned and murdered him too). But everything that happened to him as a result of him being a dick, he got what was coming to him.

I'm also a sucker for vampires and Dio is fun to draw

(but also frustrating because I can never get his hair right in a satisfying way, I don't know if I'll redo it here).

His relationship with Jonathan is also the most interesting protag and villain relationship in the whole series and I guess because of how personal it is. Yeah it's toxic AF relationship built on hate due to Dio being the worst person. Yet they also had a soft spot for each other because of those seven years that they spent together (and it's more evident in the manga when you piece some scenes together) and I think it's so tragic how it ends. Mostly because Jonathan didn't deserve his fate (and then you see Johnny's fate, it's even more messed up but that requires it's own discussion) and what happens after his death is horrifying.

Other than Dio I liked Pucci and his whole journey in Stone Ocean. How the whole thing that went down with Perla and Weather affected him and the fact that Pucci, in contrast to Dio, is a very righteous person who thinks his path is the correct one and ultimately thinks he's helping everyone in the long run. All because of his own personal trauma. His relationship with Dio is also interesting because of how different they are and I also wish we could've seen it from Dio's POV (because I really think Dio was sincere about their friendship as much as he could be with anyone but Dio is also pretty self-serving and seductive and he needed a friend in order for his Heaven Plan to work so I can't help but think there was some grooming on Dio's part), the power dynamics in the relationship certainly weren't equal that's for sure.

I also think Pucci's Heaven Plan ended up being entirely his own thing rather than what Dio wanted. But that's just me. Pucci wanted people to know their fate so they could make peace with it and that stems from his trauma with Perla. I think Dio more than anything wanted to control fate so it would be in his favor.

Man I really loved Stone Ocean, It might be my favorite part with Steel Ball Run a close second (because I love Johnny, Gyro, Hot Pants, and Diego).

I am also keeping up with Part 9, it's interesting so far.

Ooooh I love it when my favourite franchise does something that makes me feel like a giddy kid jumping in front of the TV again. I love this feeling. Magic in my chest.

Congrats on the whole team that made this musical happen. I can't wait to see it properly!

Esther Pacifyer - Phantom Blood OC

I did say something about Phantom Blood OCs last night, right? Well, ahaha-

Let me say some things. I was struggling to pull out a story because PB have such a “tight space” in terms of location? (I mean, there’s still Tibet but mostly just in the U K-) It was quite hard to find some examples of part 1 OC because there was so much little. Lastly, I tried not to give her too much frills, ribbons bows and accessories and no laces because... I am not drawing laces in a JJBA OC- I know she’s supposed to somewhat looks like a doll but I don’t want to abuse that power with a JJBA OC, especially with PB (I have an OC with a stand relating to dolls and she don’t even wear Lolita)

So... Where do we start?

I was struggling with the name but I landed on Esther because everyone around me and myself agreed on that name. Her surname, Pacifyer, is a musical reference to Melanie Martinez’s song, “Pacify Her” (I have about 2 things referencing Melanie’s songs and albums already, and if you read Pacify Her very quickly, you will hear Pacifyer, trust me on t h i s-)

Remember Erina’s doll that her father bought for her at the beginning of the series? Yeah. This girl (now woman-) is the daughter of the doll maker! Because of that she gets to know Erina. So, the domino effect of this is Erina introducing her to Jonathan, and Jonathan introduce her to Dio.

When she was young, she likes to play indoor most of the time that her father made for her, like a doll tea party and whatever... girls do with dolls-

After she met Erina, she would be playing outside more often, but that kind of died down after Erina met Jonathan, although she still got to know Jonathan and Dio.

Since she hasn’t been out with Erina as much as she used to, she started to play with her dolls again and helping her family with the business. At the age of around 13-14, her father made her another doll(in the picture, she’s sitting on Esther’s shoulder), it was her favourite doll. Esther named the doll “Marjorie”. She has been creating some dolls of her own, she keep some of them, some of them were sold on her own will.

As in her personality and attitudes, she is a curious person, so she would be exploring around her house just to see if she would find anything. Although she looks like a quiet person, she actually speaks very well and is polite and friendly. Although, getting her annoyed is not hard, but she would try to cover it up with politeness of hers.

In a way, she looks like a doll. Some people even call her Dolly, which she has no problem with, but she don't understand why that is her nickname... Despite her liking to dress like a doll from time to time-

D'oh, I can't believe I forgot to add any REO Speedwagon on the playlist! It's such a given that it kinda slipped my mind. To think I'd never heard "After Tonight" before! I also really like "Here With Me" for them.

It’s way more normal than what one’d think tbh. Like… most of REO’s music has these strong Speedwagon/Jonawagon vibes that it’s p much a given indeed, lol.

The first time I listened to After Tonight after watching jjba, it got me like

And yessss!!! Here With Me really has that vibe, too!

Some more songs just came to my mind which means this is gonna get long, and I can’t believe I forgot to mention this next one since it really fits them (and it even sort-of-inspired a short fic I wrote for them a while back)

Safe Home by Anthrax (I always go with the acoustic version for them, but the original works too).

There are some more, but they usually fall on the “gay ass pining” side, since some are from The Smiths/Morrissey

-My Love Life (the first part, from Robert’s pov, to the next song...) -I Can Have Both (which is specific about Jonathan finding out he’s in love with both Erina and Robert and coming to terms with being bi/polyam? :’D)

The outtake of the song, more precisely, mainly because of specific lines like: “To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die”, “To die by your side, well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine” and ”There is a light in your eyes that never goes out” (works great too with something more modern-ish!AU)

-Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want. This one is sad but it’s got a certain sense of hope that just hHHHH. -Well I Wonder. Another pining song. It somehow turns a tad less sad imo if you think of either Jona and/or Robert still working up the courage to take the next big step?

-Wedding Bell Blues -Back On The Chain Gang (this one fits the ship but after Jona is gone ;-; and since it uses plural in some lines, it could also fit the jonawagon+jonaeri polycule)
