Q1. What was your reaction when you first heard about the Asia tour?
My first Asia tour in about five and a half years(?) since “LOVE LIVE! SUNSHINE!! Aqours World LoveLive! ASIA TOUR 2019”! This time I'm going as part of the Love Live! Series, so I'm really excited. I'm happy to be able to share our works across the sea, and since the three of us will be going as group representatives of Aqours, I hope to convey the feelings of the other members and the feeling of “Aqours is the best!" I want to make the best memories with everyone.
Q2. What kind of image do you have of the venue of the Taipei performance?
I visited Taipei in 2019 when Aqours toured Asia solo! I still remember going to the night market back then! It was dazzling and everything was so photogenic! I hope I can go to more places than last time (laughs).
Q3. Is there anything you would like to achieve or try in the Taipei performance?
It's been my dream to perform in Taipei again, so I'm really glad to be able to after such a long time! I want to go to the night market again, and I also want to experience the Shifen sky lanterns!! I want to visit Jiufen Old Street too, but I heard it's a bit far from Taipei, so I'd like to go there the next time I come to Taipei!! Also, I want to eat a lot of xiaolongbao!
Q4. What are your feelings toward the Taipei performance as Aqours, and what are you talking about with your fellow members?
I'm thankful the Taipei show will be Aqours' solo concert! First of all, this is my first performance in Taipei in about five and a half years. I hope I'll be able to convey the charm and love of Aqours and Love Live! Sunshine!! to everyone who comes to see us and vice versa. This time, the three of us are representing Aqours, but our feelings are shared by all nine of us. I want to make it a performance of love with everyone.
Q5. Please give a message to everyone who's looking forward to the tour!
This joint Asia tour is a new attempt for the Love Live! Series! There'll be series joint performances as well as solo performances by each group. I hope every performance will bring together everyone's feelings and make you think, “The Love Live! Series is the best!" We have a lot of fun things in store for you, so please look forward to them!! The story we realize together. Let's realize this Asia tour together.

Mobi do you know the exact location in Taipei where they filmed the Loona MV’s 👉👈
Omg I love doing a bit of creepy google maps work! My Melody, lot of it was filmed hear Tamsui Underground / Old Street, though I found the exact place Yeojin was standing for part of it... My Sunday's beautiful night market is in Jiufen Old Street (literally Jiufen night market) Oh, and most of the photoshoot was at Ruifong / Houtong Cat Village, as well as the yeoseul bridge shot in MM.
I don't think they came back to Taipei aside from stock footage right?

Around one year ago, I was here celebrating 元宵节 yuánxiāojié (Lantern Festival), between Taipei and 九份 (Jiufen - the picturesque mountain old town). 🏮✨
Jiufen, with its fairytale-like atmosphere, transports you to the past, with vivid colors and vibrant sounds, always crowded with people and surrounded by the lush green of the mountains and trees, emerging majestically through the mist and rain.
Tumblr media
Taipei, modern yet steeped in history, blends the past and present with its vibrant nightlife, dynamic artistic scene, circus performances, international clubs, and bustling night markets offering everything from traditional dishes to the latest vegan options.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every corner tells a story of a rich history, from ancient temples to lively streets filled with life. 🎇✨
Tumblr media
The Lantern Festival (元宵节, Yuánxiāo Jié) is a Chinese tradition that marks the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations. Among its many customs, people eat tangyuan (汤圆), sticky rice balls filled with sweet fillings, symbolizing family unity and completeness. The festival celebrates the full moon's light, embodying themes of reunion and harmony.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of the typical tangyuan (汤圆), I had this traditional Taiwanese dessert called taro ball with brown sugar ice (招牌芋圓冰 zhāopaiyùyuánbīng). The tradition of eating tangyuan during this festival comes from the dish’s name itself: 汤圆 (tāngyuán) sounds similar to 团圆 (tuányuán), meaning 'reunion' or 'being together,' symbolizing family unity. Additionally, their round shape (圆, literally meaning 'round') represents completeness and perfection, much like the full moon, which during the Lantern Festival symbolizes reunion and harmony. 🏮🎇✨🌕

( rami malek / 43 / he/him ) wait, is that SAMUEL "SAMI" AVERY at the DAILY DAWN again? i heard through a grapevine, that the hunter lays in favor of AVERY and has been in town for THREE YEARS. He currently works as OWNER/EDITOR-IN-CHIEF. Some say he can be OBSESSIVE and STUBBORN, but i thought he was actually WISE and RELIABLE.
Tumblr media
B A S I C S
name: samuel "sami" avery species: hunter (human) age: forty three hometown: westray, washington occupation: owner/editor-in-chief of the daily dawn relationship: single sexuality: heterosexual pronouns: he/him
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Sami considers himself an eccentric combination of intellectual and practical qualities. While he values freedom and autonomy, he also craves stability and security. His appreciation for aesthetics drew him to his current job, as he believes it allows him to use his intellect and creativity. He often struggles with intimacy because of his tendency to be detached, despite yearning for a long-term partner.
B I O G R A P H Y
Sami was born to Daniel Avery, a traveling hunter that he never had a good relationship with, and Imani El-Amari, an Egyptian museum director from Cairo. He is the oldest of two, with his younger sister May currently studying how to be a chef in Paris, France. Both of them grew up knowing about their father's true lineage but neither of whom were excited to follow his footsteps.
That was, until Sami lost the love of his life, Ann Cai, to a dark witch. Since that day, he vowed to find her killer and get revenge, not knowing it was a light witch that caused Ann's death and Ann had sacrificed herself to save the same witch's life. Ann had always been kind and compassionate. Sometimes, too much for her own good. Whereas Sami had never been the same, always fixated and obsessed with his plans and the general concept of order.
When he arrived in Westray, he tried to avoid his late father's family, only approaching them whenever he wanted to learn something his old man never taught him. It didn't take him long to take over the Daily Dawn, considering his last name and his actual work experience, having been a journalist himself prior to his arrival in town.
These days, Sami sticks to his duties, biding his time until he can find his lover's killer. He believes Westray to be his best resource in his quest for revenge.
T R I V I A
Sami has rhotacism. He pronounces the letter "r" as the letter "w" when it's in the first syllable but he doesn't have a problem when it's the last syllable (eg, river as "wiver").
Sami studied journalism at the University of Phoenix in Arizona. He had met Ann Cai in Jiufen, Taiwan, when he traveled there for his first assignment writing for an online magazine. She perished in Phoenix, after leaving her home to be with him. They had been together for three years.
Sami's favorite food is shawarma, though he also fancies sushi (with sake), tacos (with tequila), and beef stroganoff (with vodka).
Sami has a pet "dog" named Lily.
Sami can drive but prefers not to.
Sami has a green thumb, with gardening as one of his favorite hobbies.
Sami has allergic rhinitis.
W A N T E D
HIS MOTHER – While his father has already perished, his mother is still out there, having returned to Cairo, where she now works as a museum director once again. She has always been supportive of Sami but does not like the idea of him wasting his time on Ann's killer. “ Let go, my son. Let her, and you, rest. ”
HIS SISTER – May Avery El-Amari is currently using their mother's last name due to her dislike of their father's lineage. She is currently in Paris, France, learning to be a chef from one of its renowned masters. Like her mother, she is supportive of her big brother, too, but also wants to see Ann's killer get justice, having considered her as her sister. In time, she will get the urge to take to the streets and practice her hunter skills. Maybe she'll even visit Westray one of these days. “ Bro, I sent you something. Did you get it yet? ”
HIS ANCHORS – Anyone who can keep him connected to the real world, outside of his vengeful mindset. Sami sometimes forgets he needs friends, maybe even more than friends, to root him in place. “ When was the last time you ate? ”
HIS WRITERS – As the editor-in-chief of the Daily Dawn, Sami works with a lot of writers. Is he a good boss? Are you closer than officemates? Does he eat your yogurt that has a label with your name on it? He probably does. Now, go get him his coffee. “ Wait, what deadline? ”

I really enjoyed tasting street food like taro rice balls, soy milk, marinated eggs, braised pork rice matcha cake, browsing the souvenir shops, sitting in the coffee shops watching people coming and going. Taiwan has so much more interesting places to explore that I have never visited. I really enjoyed this trip.

A FARAWAY CITY Hello, Taipei
I would like to believe that life is only worth it if you collect memories that you would carry with you as you leave this world someday. A future nostalgia as you age, and a supercut that will play during your very last breath. Sometimes I think about dying with a smile knowing that I have done it all — but that is still a constant goal right now. And I am really convinced that this memory is one I would remember for always.
I have spent four amazing days in Taiwan with Wence, the boy who’s been pulling my heartstrings for almost a decade now. And oh heavens, it was my first time to travel out of the country and I wouldn’t do it any other way. It was a beautiful core memory to carry with me although at times I still feel like it was only just a dream. It was also an awakening, that life is bigger than you could ever imagine and I am just a dot in this incredible planet.
The Supercut: Hotel overnight. Airport stories. Red-eye flight. Taiwan touchdown. Subway train rides. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Bopiliao Historical Block. 7 Eleven snacks. Ximending walks. Red House x DVD stalls. Met Jai Hang. Blue hour mornings. Coaster Bus rides. York as our tour guide. Met our kabayan, Athena. Yehliu Geopark. Shuinandong Smelter x Golden Blue Sea. Golden Waterfalls. The mystic Jiufen Old Street. Shifen Station. Sundown bus ride and realizing I was happy. Shillin Market. Photobooth moments with Wence. Bought charms and crystals. Warm hotel nights with Wence. U-Bike moments. Din Tai Fung x Taipei 101. Fell in love with Da’an District’s Jinhua and Qingtian Streets. Train to Tamsui. Biking x Sunset Watching at Tamsui. Spa night. Biking x midnight snacks at the hotel. Fong Da Coffee. Longshan Temple. Spent the afternoon biking around CKS Park. Luggage shenanigans. Streetside Noodles for dinner. Train ride back to airport. Another red-eye flight, but every little thing was so worth it.
For someone like me who thought his heart was hardened by life’s mishaps and shits, these moments remind me that there are still a lot of things to look forward to, a lot of experiences to warm your core, and that cliché statement is nothing but true: Happiness really starts from within. I have come to realize that I never want to lose that sense of wonder, to discover more and understand life better.
At this moment, I still think about how life isn’t really perfect after all, that I still might duel with sadness in the future. But let me just capture this feeling for a little while. It may be simple for others but let me just dive into this memory a little longer. For one day I’ll get older and I’ll reminisce those days when I felt genuinely happy.

7月19號 Day 8: The Journey to JiuFen
So the day started at 9:30am when we got on the bus to take a trip to Jiufen. My breakfast consisted of some pineapple and a singular sausage link. After breakfast, we all went on the bus. The bus is so fun and nice to take everywhere. On the bus we had a special guest. Yeh Laoshi's nephew joined us for today's adventure. At first when Jack asked what his name was, he acted like he had been with us the whole time and tried to make Jack feel bad for forgetting his name. After what seemed like forever(about 5 minutes), he finally tells us Jack and I his name(Josh) and who he is. He was a very cool guy and wanted to go to UF in the future. On a similar topic, I ran into Yeh Laoshi and her sister twice now and funny enough, the church that I went to last week was the same church Yeh Laoshi's sister(Josh's mom) goes to.
Anywho, after an hour long car ride, we finally make it to Jiufen. Our first stop was at the Gold Museum in Jin Gua Shi(金瓜石)。The history of this place begins in the late 19th century. Under the control of the Japanese government, this gold mine was the most prominent mine in all of Asia. Fun fact, the specific ore they were mining had about 1000-10000 times as much gold as a normal rock. But, our phones today have as much gold in them as 33 pounds of that ore. The mountainside held a lot of gold within them and built into the mountainside was one of the largest refineries at that time, measuring 13 floors high. Over 4,000 prisoners of war during World War II were forced to work as miners in this mine. The mine was finally shut down in 1987. The museum houses one great treasure that is worth over 17.5 million dollars. Can you guess what it is? It's a GIANT block of GOLD! The gold block being a little more than a foot wide weighs about 485 pounds!
After we left the gold museum, we went to jiu fen old street. This street is a narrow road where many different kinds of stores gather. There are small food stalls that sell many traditional foods, souvenir shops, and tea houses. The tea houses are the main attraction and from one of the tea houses there is a beautiful view. But, this is not where i found myself. After eating with Andy, Jack, Faith, and Fanny, I went out to the Keelung mountain trail nearby. Only being about a 900m climb, I was able to reach the 588 meter tall peak in less than half an hour. From the top I was able to see Taipei 101 and all of jiufen. It was beautiful. I had to hurry back in order to meet the rest of the group on time.
Finally, not planned on the schedule, we took an hour drive through the mountains to Jing Tong which seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. There, we released the laterns into the sky. The custom is to write your wish on the side of the lantern. I wrote to learn Chinese and Spanish. I also wrote one of the most complicated chinese characters that has over 50 strokes. It is a type of noodle. Biang Biang。
Tumblr media
After releasing the lanterns which was so fun, we took another 1 hour bus ride back home. Overall today was a great day.
Until next time, 再見!

July 19 - Jiufen Mountain Village
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I woke up today right at the time they said to meet in the lobby because I forgot to set an alarm. I quickly got ready, and we made it to our first destination, an old traditional Japanese-style house. We had to take off our shoes and use the slippers they provided. Then we walked over to the Gold Museum. I touched the massive 500 lb. gold block that they had displayed. After the Gold Museum, the bus took us to Jiufen, which is a small village in the mountains overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. They also had a long street market, so I ate lunch there. I tried a century egg for the first time at lunch. Then I walked to the end of the street market because there are a bunch of tea houses there. The tea houses were cool. After we left Jiufen, we went to an old train station and bought lanterns. We got to draw and write on the lanterns with the traditional Chinese calligraphy brush and ink. Then we let them go into the sky. On the walk back to the bus, I got a delicious scallion pancake that was made right in front of me. Later on, I went to the food court below Taipei 101 and tried an oyster omelet for dinner.
Academic Reflection:
In the Japanese-style house, I was surprised when Peter said that he grew up in a house like that in Taiwan. He educated me on how common and recent those houses were. It wasn’t just some old house that I was walking around in. I was learning about the experience of many Taiwanese people in recent history with regard to their dwellings. The Gold Museum was also surprising to me. I had no idea that Taiwan sort of had its own gold rush just like the US. Peter told us that they stopped mining for gold there as much now because the mines get deeper and more dangerous and expensive to mine.
Then when we got to Jiufen, Peter and Yeh Laoshi explained that Jiufen means nine portions because the original settlement consisted of nine families with their own portions of land. Once we got to the market, they set us free for a couple hours, so Peter had to give me directions on where the tea houses are. Peter also gave me instructions on the lanterns that I decorated. He explained that you’re supposed to write a wish on the lantern.
