i will never forgive how they treated han jipyeong in start up!!!!! the writers made him give everything and gave him nothing in return!! NOTHING!! the only thing he had going on for him was his relationship with dalmi's grandma but they ruined that as well!! kim seonho carried for real
#a reason why i can't watch it again#no matter how badly i want to see seonho's brilliant performance again#because it would just hurt#i can't bear the physical pain the injustice brings#startup#han jipyeong#kim seonho

According to the notice, “The concept of the photobook expressing the “Time Difference” between the day and night, shows how a human becomes vulnerable to the sunlight (Day) the moment he turns into a vampire but also how he becomes a complete vampire in a pitch black darkness (Night) with his inner self expressing hunger and thirst for power unlike his all the more attractive and beautiful appearance.”
At the start of the Concept Film, you can see the painting Horse with a saddle by Abraham van Calraet behind Jung Kook. It belongs to this set that was also used in the MV “Ghost” by Dreamnote and in an Instagram post from Kwak Dongyeon.
The exterior scenes were filmed at Byukchoji Gardens (cr. btsmap1)

According to the notice, “”Entirety” uncovers who Kim Namjoon really is and who RM really is. The photobook will show the calm and relaxed side of Kim Namjoon and the powerful, charismatic and wild side of RM on stages. It expresses many other sides of him as both a young man and an artist, along with his deep thoughts between the two, revealing RM’s view of his true self as an artist.”
The pictures were taken at the Daegu Indang Museum during the exhibition about Lee Bae, at the gas station from the Four Aces Movie Ranch, and in Lacy Park (cr. btsmap1).

According to the notice, “This photobook created based on Jimin’s own ideas, unveils different moods Jimin creates from the same costumes, the strength Jimin has discovered in himself, the meaning of light in his confusing consciousness, the moment Jimin’s inner self and persona finally met and his chaotic and finally, an immature journey to finding the true “me”.”
Jimin explained that the theme of the book is persona and that his white outfit aims to show his raw self.
On the “Color ; Freedom” set, you can spot an Apollo Belvedere head. One already appeared during the “Blood, Sweat & tears” performance at M Countdown on the 13th of October 2016 (so Jimin’s birthday).
On the “Black ; Come face to face” set, it’s a Diana of Versailles bust that was broken and reassembled with the kintsugi technique (an unbroken one was seen in the WINGS Short Film #7 AWAKE).
For the “White ; Intactly” part, Jimin and all the mannequins wear masks reminding of the Jackalope, a mythical jackrabbit with antelope horns.
Every time, Jimin has several tattoos on his arms and torso:
“tailor of chaos”
“Artemis”
“Free”
“Filter”: the title of Jimin’s solo song in Map Of The Soul : 7

This book was not released for the group’s birthday (namely June 13) but on the 11th of January 2023 so the 3500th day since BTS debuted.
According to the notice, “this photo-folio is a quintessentially BTS collection that brings together the seven members’ ideas and catalogs their memories together as a group. This photo-folio is a visualization of the past and the present of BTS!”
They filmed the K-retro Sports Day part at the now closed 지평초등학교-일신분교장터 (Jipyeong Elementary School-Ilshin Branch Market, it seems to have been renovated to be turned into a camping site and a filming location).
Here’s a translation of what’s written on the blackboard. The boys added things such as “RM”, “BTS”, “ARMY”, “I love you” and “BTS ♡ ARMY”:
The Self Camera theme slightly reminds of the VCRs for 花樣年華 on Stage: Epilogue while the K-retro Sports Day theme is similar to the concept they had for the 2017 Season’s Greetings. As for the part in the photobooth, a similar scene happens in “RUN” but the hat and scarf they wear is actually a nod to what Jin, j-hope and V wore during the 3rd muster while they performed chipmunk versions of their songs.

According to the notice, “based on Jin’s ideas, the Photo-Folio showing new, unusual sides of him consists of three different concepts of diverse emotions felt at the sea. Jin expressed fear of being an alien as the pirate in darkness, and portrayed a dignified captain proud of his small boat under the rising sun together with a brave fisherman whose life is at the sea.”
The photoshoot took place here, at the port of Geumjin.
Jin wrote the song “Super Tuna” during this shooting.

V’s Instagram post #1, #2
According to the notice, "the Photo-Folio derived from V’s idea portrays a day in the life of a 19th century British gentleman reinterpreted through his taste. A horseback riding lesson to start off the day, a calm afternoon tea in the solar, resting outdoors and a trip to tend to himself. Following the four chapters as if watching a silent film, you will get a glimpse of a glamorously recreated day in the life of a 19th century gentleman.”
A part of the photo shoot happened at 사진정원/Graphygarden (Instagram) and the rest was at the Sono Felice Equestrian Club (website).

According to the notice, “based on j-hope’s idea, ‘All New Hope’ was created focusing on an ambiguous interpretation of meeting a new hope and shedding light on the unseen aspects of j-hope.Through the contrast between light and dark, it embodies a fragile, risky existence breaking away from himself and being reborn as an irreplaceably strong existence after meeting a new hope.”

It's actually kinda insane how Start Up did a whole back story for Jipyeong in the beginning and we all thought he was the main male lead only to turn it around and have it be Do San!! They had Jipyeong and Dal Mi be penpals (she didn't know it was him and she thought it was Do San) when they were children but NONE OF THAT MATTERS!!!! It doesn't matter that Do San wasn't completely honest with Dal Mi. It didn't matter that Jipyeong knew Dal Mi first! And the way Do San wasn't even in the first episode until the very end!!! The Koreans are sick!!!

just finished watching StartUp and I have so many opinions.
So firstly I genuinely enjoyed the show at most times, it’s a fun watch with humor and good business advice at times. The cast is completely brilliant with a great range onscreen throughout the show, I watched it for seonho but loved the others as well. The set is soo beautiful, sandbox was made with such great aesthetic details. I felt like the writers themselves seemed confused of where they wanted the story to go.
Personally I knew jipyeong would never end up with dalmi because of multiple reason- He waited too long to ever make a move, his affection towards dalmi - I personally felt it was coming from a place of having her safe and not exactly wanting to have a romantic relation with her tbh even though the writers said that he loved her romantically, he second doubted himself too much - and that’s valid for his character considering his story but like dosan he wasn’t really a go getter when it came to his romantic relation w dalmi as quick he was when it came to help her w other things.
I hated the fact that they didn’t dive into his past, showing WHY is it that he was exactly ‘envious’ of dosan and where it came from other than just him being a poor orphan. Jipyeong had SO MUCH potential to become a phenomenal character (even if he didn’t land the romantic relationship) if they had indulged into his backstory and how he overcame problems other than being a poor boy- the behaviour and personality aspects. Jipyeong is someone who’s very selfless and is quiet about how he cares for people and until the end this went unacknowledged by the other characters - yes they acknowledged that he was smart and his opinions were helpful but it didn’t show that they understood why he did what he did because until the end he was shown as an ‘outsider’ to the found family within the startup, even though he saved their asses countless times.
He could’ve had such a sibling-y relationship with dosan and dalmi and it would’ve been so precious to watch and a better ending honestly other than just ending up just as an business partner. Additionally I completely disliked how the samsan guys were such assholes to him professionally- snatching his phone when he’s literally HELPING THEM not screw up and when it all went bad they blamed him for not going easier on them I WAS SOOO PISSED LIKE NO ACCOUNTABILITY AT ALL??? Like JP wasn’t on the position just like that easily and the show failed to recognise that the position he was in didn’t come to him just because he was smart - that it must’ve taken a lot of work and dedication, just to be mocked by three childish boys who couldn’t take criticism when it was being given to them. I agree that Jp could’ve been less mean and he didn’t have a whole development arc wrt that but man that’s how how the real world works - imagine u just opened a business and have no idea how it works and u cuss out ur mentor who’s giving his everything ing to help u - if something like that happened irl they would’ve been screwed so bad and this is not even coming from a place where I’m being biased towards JP. I liked that dalmi went against him at times when it was necessary, that showed the depth within her character as a CEO and as a person who doesn’t take a no when she can prove to make things happen. That’s amazing. But the dosan and JP fight was so useless cuz nothing came out of it. (They could’ve been besties instead like 😭)
Anyway yes I did enjoy the other aspects so much, definitely one of the watches I’ll remember for a long time and I will come back to it again and again.

In partnership with UFC Mixes, South Korean actor Kim Seonho’s colorful and flavorful fan meet is drawing closer and we are counting down the days to his much-awaited return, the Seonhohada way!
With his natural charm and scene-stealing performances, anyone who comes across any series he stars in is sure to fall head over heels for the Hallyu star; here are Seonho’s top 5 most <Color+Full> roles that won the hearts of many and should check out before we see him again IRL:
Han Jipyeong | Start-Up (2020)
Seonho’s lovable character in this hit slice-of-life rom-com drama sealed the deal for him in the industry as he gave the viewers major second lead syndrome as Han Jipyeong, a smart businessman who has a hard surface, but a soft heart. Because of his heartwarming scenes with his ‘halmeoni’ (grandmother), he earned the nickname ‘Good Boy’ and led him to win his first ever Baeksang Award for Most Popular Actor – Television.
Oh Jingyu | Strongest Deliveryman (2017)
Seonho’s role in this slice-of-life romance series which tells the story of a deliveryman who aspires to be a CEO of his own delivery application company, showcased a strong character development throughout the series. Through this drama, he was able to exhibit his versatility as he transformed from being a “bad guy” to a “good boy”.
Gong Suchang | Two Cops (2017-2018)
In this mystery-action-comedy-packed drama, Seonho challenges himself as he portrays the character of Gong Suchang, a con artist whose soul takes over the body of a detective played by renowned actor Jo Jungsuk. The plot itself is already a peek into the lead actors’ undeniable comedic chemistry that ultimately gave Kim Seonho two MBC Awards for his outstanding performance.
Jung Jaeyoon | 100 Days My Prince (2018)
Taking a turn from his previous dramas, Seonho takes over the character of second-lead Jung Jaeyoon, the wise hidden advisor of the Crown Prince in the chart-topping romantic historical drama, ‘100 Days My Prince’. With his chemistry with his co-actors, especially with his unrequited love with the main lead, ‘Jung Jaeyoon’ became a beloved character which led the viewers to check out more of Kim Seonho’s projects.
Hong Dusik | Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021)
His most well-known role to date following his character in ‘Start-Up’ is through the jack-of-all-trades ‘Chief Hong’ from ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’, one of Korea’s highest-rated series which follows the story of an accomplished dentist from Seoul who goes to a seaside village and meets their all-around Chief, ‘Hong Dusik’. Because of his character’s personality and with his heartbreaking past, viewers were quick to fall more in love with Seonho, who topped the Korean drama actor brand reputation rankings, which further catapulted him into stardom.
Seonho’s road to fame began as he took a step on the theatre stage, until he landed a role on the small-screen and eventually took over the big screen. From one role to another, he was able to showcase his passion to portray diverse roles in different genres which proved his versatility as an actor.
Now renowned as everyone’s favorite “Good Boy” with a charming smile and his down-to-earth personality behind the scenes, this led him to become one of the most sought-out actors and now, even as an endorser, that Filipino K-fans cheer for.

hello vic! don't worry about writing too much I'm also the kind to write 3 pages for an answer lol it was super interesting to read your thoughts! I also really enjoyed my lovely boxer and castaway diva despite not knowing anything about anyone involved aside from park eun bin (and the more time pass the more I count myself lucky to have never watched start up lol my dash was so messy when it was airing)
my two questions today are: do you remember the first kdrama you've watched and what you thought about it ? and what is the drama you've rewatched the most?
have a good night!
your secret santa 🌲
hello stranger!! sorry this took a little while to answer work has been kicking my ass this week and in the free time i have had over the past few days i've been reading lmao. you don't know how lucky you are having not watched start up it was the worst time of my life 0/10. it was hard out here being a jipyeong stan.
okay so i am 99.9% sure that my first drama was city hunter. i randomly found it on youtube one day while it was airing (yes i have been into dramas since 2011 no i don't at all feel like the crypt keeper) and fell in love with it. i don't remember anything about it now and i know i wouldn't watch it again bc i don't like lee minho but it opened the doorway. special shout out to dream high which was my second drama and is the one that got me into kpop. wooyoung has so many things to answer for.
and tbh i don't really rewatch dramas??? it's not for lack of trying lmao but while i can happily rewatch movies and western tv shows there's something about dramas that just... i can't?? for some reason??? seem to rewatch. it's weird. having said that one spring night is the one i regularly go back and watch clips of. like if i'm giffing something from it i'll watch my favourite bits from that episode lmao

sabrinaaaa castaway diva has the same writer as start-up so i’m expecting severe second lead syndrome !! no matter how much they try to throw us off it’s pretty obvious bo-geol is ki-ho and i just don’t think i could handle woo-hak getting his heart broken.
START-UP WRITER?! omfg i did not know this😭 tbh i don’t see a romantic connection between mokha and woohak. to me, woohak is just someone who is desperate to regain his memories before he was 15, and because the people close to him (aka his family) don’t want to help him, he sees mokha as this key to his past. i don’t think he’s going to be heartbroken 😭 he loves his brother too much.
also personally it takes a lot for me to experience sls, and i think i had a huge case of it during start-up bc jipyeong was just a really well written and well acted. hakyeon is a good actor but he’s no kim seonho🥲

I'm not saying ji pyeong is at the same level as Conrad but he's pissing me off at how he treats Dosan calling him a failure and never going to succeed why isn't the FL defending him? We all know he's saying that because he's jealous of Dosan like with Conrad how does this guy have stans are we watching the same show?
Yes, they def did a better job to make us sympathise with Jipyeong than Jenny did with Conrad lol. Like he's not as bad tbh, we do feel sorry for his circumstances (like being an orphan etc) but he still does some things esp later on that I just can't defend him for and why I'm mad at him. He sometimes does few things to help the team but imo StartUp is a lot about the toxic work environment (throwback to Dalmi's dad in his office) and how it can be improved and so Ji Pyeong is like one of the examples of things wrong with the work environment.
