I don’t like how instead of using Jinx's perspective, and flashbacks to deepen Vi's character and tell us more about her we got some stock generick slop

.. i mean we still got more Vi but... we don’t get to know a lot about her. "well she liked to fight... LIKE A LOT." Fine, FINEE, I would respect that if we AT THE VERY least would be given an explanation on to WHY she likes to fight. You telling me that a 13-year-old just suddenly decided "hm I guess I wanna learn to fight now" from scratch? Just like that? And this fucking sucks. but the worst thing is... this shit makes Vi's character feel so empty. Of course people can have hobbies, can have like favorite hobbies, can have passions that have modified a lot of their personality, but we need a reason to believe it. We don’t know why fighting is Vi's passion, no one told us nothing except "well she LOVES fighting."

flashbacks are especially fucking funny for me because they thought, "OMG, viewers are gonna freaking cry their eyes out at this part or something," and we were all like, "Uh, bro, what the heck?" I mean, they're not telling us anything—not just about Vi, but about anyone involved either.

"Vander was a good dad."

We know that.

"Vander, his daughters, and his wife were a happy family."

We know that.

"Vi's and Powder's mother was a good mother."

Like, OK, but I expected something more. I'm sorry.

Just updated my fic to chapter 15 over on AO3!

Was a real pain this chap. But at least I know what is going to happen next chap. That should be up tomorrow once I actually write it.

After writing a little over 1k words tonight, the new prologue is about 200 words away from the 10k mark. With more still to go. I know word count is by no means the indicator of a good story, but I feel so much happier with this prologue than I do with the original.

There is so much more context and world-building in general that I think was lacking in the original. And there is still much more that can be improved upon in my writing, but I think the people of Etrea feel so much more present and alive. There's still quite a bit to go with several scenes to finish, and even more writing after that. i'm still really excited to show you guys the new finished prologue regardless
