Imagine #1
Sung Jinwoo/Trial Player!Reader
CW: Implied Yandere (If you squint), mild grotesque imaginary of killing a magic beast
Inspired by @circeyoru ‘s “Future Power Couple”
This is now officially a series! You can check "Trial Player AU" here: [Masterlist🦋✨️]
Tumblr media
You never imagined your life would take such a drastic turn. One moment, you were typing away on your laptop, and the next, you found yourself in a universe where Hunters, dungeons, and magic were the norm.
As a casual fan of the manhwa, you were more than familiar with the storyline and its characters. But this was real, painfully real, and your heart raced in your chest as you tried to make sense of it all.
Isekai'd into the world of Solo Leveling was unexpected, but this?
This was even more bizarre.
___
Isekai stories were meant to be fun. A fresh start in a different world with cool powers and thrilling adventures, right?
[Congratulations!
You have been selected by the System for an exclusive test run.]
The first time you saw that message, you had no idea what it meant. But after receiving a few more cryptic messages and nearly dying in a lower-rank dungeon?
You would be foolish if continue that thought.
You weren’t just dropped into this world—you were the 'Trial Player'. A glitch, a test subject for the system before it latched onto its true player.
It sounded like a game, a brief test before things returned to normal.
Except now you’re stuck.
___
You didn’t want to interfere, to change the storyline you knew too well.
The system gave you powers once you started leveling up.
Since you weren’t a fighter by nature, learning how to defend yourself have been a whole other story. Healing however, had come to you almost too naturally. You were rather fortunate (or is it unfortunate?) in that regard, as you discovered early on that your specialized ability was more… versatile, than it seemed.
Simply put, they were dual-edged.
Healing and harming were two sides of the same coin—just a matter of intent.
You could heal yourself and allies just fine, but with enemies? The same touch that mended could also cause harm.
A giant serpent once learned that the hard way.
___
The cold wind brushed against your face as you stared down at the monstrous serpent writhing in its final throes. You hadn’t meant to do it that way—honestly, it was an accident.
You had only wanted to defend yourself, yet in an act of panic, you had somehow amplified the beast's venom glands, forcing it to produce venom at an uncontrollable rate to the point of overloading its own internal organs.
The monster literally drowned in its own deadly concoction.
As the hissing faded, you watched with wide eyes as the giant serpent collapsed, dead. A familiar notification dinged in the corner of your vision.
[Congratulations!
You have successfully defeated a C-Rank Venom Serpent!]
The cheerful tone that rang in your ears was far too enthusiastic for your liking.
[System will now place Blue Venom-Fanged Kasaka in its place.]
You let out a shaky breath, still in shock.
[You have just proven yourself to be quite entertaining,
Trial Player (Name)_
Shall we continue with more interesting challenges?]
What the hell just happened?
___
From the start, you’d made the decision to stay under the radar.
At first, it was overwhelming.
The system's notifications, the power you gained with each step, and the dangerous world you were thrust into were enough to make anyone completely lost their mind.
But, despite the insanity of your new reality, you had to admit you’d adapted rather well.
From that day forward, the system acted more like a mischievous partner than a mere overseer.
In fact, the system had seemed delighted by your attempts to remain discreet, since it was more than willing to help you falsify your ranking, allowing you to masquerade as a mere C-rank. Not that you cared much about rankings, but blending in was important, especially since you knew what was coming. You didn't want to stand out when the real chaos began.
The system had its reasons, no doubt, but you didn’t question it. As long as it kept your secret and allowed you to survive without drawing too much attention, you were content.
With your knowledge of the Solo Leveling storyline—albeit you still need to fill in some gaps in your memory here and there—you avoided changing the narrative too much. However, when it came to the protagonist, you found it difficult to completely stay away.
As a fan, you already knew what hardships awaited him, and as much as you tried not to interfere, your heart ached terribly seeing him suffer through his early days as an E-rank hunter.
Even knowing he’d become the world’s strongest eventually, you still found yourself lessening his burden.
You weren’t trying to change anything significant—just minor things. Healing him faster when he was injured and unconscious after dangerous raids, anonymously covering some of his mother's medical bills, leaving useful items at his doorstep. All of it was done behind the curtain, leaving no trace.
You kept your distance; each act was a silent tribute to a hero you believed deserved better.
Or maybe, it was because you saw something in him that reminded you of your own struggle—your own loneliness in this strange world.
After all, this wasn’t your story. It was his.
___
You vowed not to meddle in the timeline.
That was to say, you had no intention of getting involved in the main storyline.
So, when the time came for him to finally accept the system’s offer and became the player, the trial period for you ended.
The screens pop-ups ceased.
The missions vanished.
The system had gone silent.
You could finally step back, let him take the reins. You could enjoy the world for yourself, live your life in this reality.
Or so you thought.
___
It was supposed to be a quiet day, just like any other.
You found yourself wandering through a familiar street in Seoul, lost in thought.
You weren’t sure what it was that tipped you off—the weight of someone’s gaze on your back, perhaps—but when you turned around, your breath hitched.
Gaze locked in with sharp, glowing blue.
And a familiar chirp in your mind, as smug as ever.
[Fancy meeting you here,
Trial Player (Name)_ ]
Damnit, you sly—!
"‘Trial Player’, huh?"
You clenched your fists and bit your lip as his voice cut through your inner turmoil.
Stormy hues, and ebony locks that looked too fluffy not to touch.
Taller, and his voice deeper than the last time you heard him.
There was no way you could mistake him for someone else.
There was no way you could forget him.
Sung Jinwoo
The system hummed in amusement behind him, oddly pleased with itself.
A screen flickered in your periphery.
[Dear Trial Player, (Name)_
Be careful not to spill your secret to Player Sung Jinwoo,
else you may find the penalty quite costly.]
Playful, yet the warning echoed in your mind.
You had no idea what the system’s penalty might be, and you weren’t eager to find out.
“I’ve been wondering about the mysterious healer who’s been helping me. I guess I have my answer now.”
Calm, that tone of his was way too calm, and it sent a shiver down your spine.
You felt your stomach drop. How much did he know? How long had he suspected—
“Don’t look so surprised,” Jinwoo continued with a chuckle, a small, dangerous tilt playing on his lips, “The system can be… revealing at times.”
The insufferable chirps like giggles in your ear following his statement made it clear—there was no escape now.
Sung Jinwoo knew, or at least, he knew enough.
“I’ll make it easy for you,” Jinwoo said, stepping closer.
You instinctively took a step back.
"Join my party."
You opened your mouth to respond, but the words caught in your throat instead.
“What?"
“I want you to join me,”
Jinwoo repeated with the same exact tone, as if that one sentence was enough for your mind to grasp at—whatever situation this had spiral to be.
Your brain scrambled for an answer. You couldn’t. You shouldn’t. “I prefer staying out of the spotlight,” you muttered, trying to avoid his gaze.
Jinwoo leaned in slightly, his expression unreadable. “Unfortunately for you, I don’t think I’m going to let that happen.”
The system pinged again.
[Player Sung Jinwoo has extended a party invitation.]
“I didn’t agree to—”
The screen popped up again.
[Trial Player cannot refuse this invitation.]
You blinked at the screen, then at him.
Jinwoo kept his eyes on you—glowing in that beautiful, beautiful blue—practically daring you to refuse.
You felt trapped.
___
And that was how you found yourself reluctantly dragged into Sung Jinwoo’s (formerly solo) party.
You were supposed to be a background character at most, but now you were standing beside the future strongest hunter, going on raids, facing dungeon bosses, and… spending far too much time with him outside of said raids.
You don’t know why, but outside of dungeons were even worse. Jinwoo seemed to find excuses to be around you, despite your best efforts to avoid him. Whether it was casual visits to the same cafés you frequented or crossing paths in the market, he always seemed to be there at every turn. It was unsettling how often his gaze lingered on you, as if he was trying to unravel the very essence that made you, you.
Persistent, relentless, and far too observant for your liking. Jinwoo followed you, making sure you never slipped away, sticking close like your own personal shadow.
You might have laughed at the irony, if you were not the center of his attention.
Sung Jinwoo refused to leave you alone.
You weren't sure how he'd managed to pull you into his orbit, but he had, and now you were stuck in the very story you were trying to avoid.
A soft laugh; a rare sound that made your heart skip a beat.
“You’re not getting rid of me that easily, My Healer.”
___
"Oh, what have I gotten myself into..." you muttered under your breath, feeling the weight of the situation crash down on you.
The system chimed in, always and without fail, far too gleeful for your liking.
[What indeed, Trial Player?
What indeed.]
You really, really, want to kick this damned system to space.

yandere!sung.jinwoo x fem.reader
me: (imagine) a hot man offers you a drink at this korean bbq place, and you don’t want to look uncool and take a shot, only to realize it’s just lemon lime soda
you end up getting starry eyed for this devastatingly handsome man, enjoying the rest of what you thought would be a solo dinner with this charming man-
but little do you know, he’s been lovesick for you and stalking you for quite some time now -
lmao convince me not to do this bestie
@nyashykyunnie: convince me to convince you not to
warnings: stalking; obsessive thoughts and behavior.
work had been a stressful event for you, causing your once steady walking pace to slow down to a complete crawl. exhaustion was felt reaching down into your very bones, and it felt as though your body was being dragged down by weights itself.
lately, work had gotten so exhausting, with your boss forcing you to pick up extra shifts while you struggled to stay afloat. yet despite it all, you were able to survive and make it towards your day off.
currently, you were basking in the freedom that came with a friday night after a long shift work. the fact that it was also your weekend off added an extra layer of sweetness to it all-
and you were going to celebrate this joyous occasion with some much needed korean barbecue. walking across the streets of the city, you head towards your favorite restaurant with a bounce in your step. the exhaustion was quickly replaced with excitement and joy at eating all of your favorite cuts of meat and sides.
entering the establishment, you eagerly tell the host that you’d like a single table, grinning widely when he takes you to a table settled in the middle of the restaurant. looking through the menu, you had to swallow the excess moisture that floods your mouth from all the delicious scents that fills at the air.
after what felt like hours of waiting, your waitress greets you and asks what you’d like to have. when you tell her your order, she smiles and writes everything down, promising to bring out your food shortly so you could start grilling it. so caught up in your eagerness to destress and enjoy a delicious meal, you didn’t notice how a tall man kept his eyes on you.
you were about to unlock your phone and scroll through the various apps when the sight of a large glass bottle being slammed against your table makes you jump in your seat.
trailing your eyes upwards, you were taken aback upon seeing a handsome man with deep, grey eyes staring down at you. locks of wavy, ebony hair was seen falling across his forehead as he pours the liquid into the shot glass.
“a pretty girl like you shouldn’t have to dine all alone, so how about i keep you company?” he flashes you a kind smile, offering the shot glass filled with a clear liquid to you. by now, your heart was pounding in your chest, becoming flustered while beneath this devastating man’s amused gaze.
despite how you didn’t enjoy drinking, something about this perfect stranger’s alluring charm made you want to appear poised and cool enough to handle your alcohol. with a determined nod, you take the shot glass from his hand and down the whole thing with one gulp-
the burn was immediate, and you nearly choked until the familiar flavor of lemon-lime fills at your tastebuds. your eyes widen with realization, meeting kind grey eyes once more as he sits across from you. “no need to panic, i’m not big on drinking either, so let’s enjoy some of this crisp soda instead.”
“y-yes. that would be nice.” you admit to him with a bit of a dreamy expression on your face. now that you were completely relaxed, you were able to see just how gorgeous he was-
and you were dumbfounded at how he came to you.
he feels your gaze and smiles at you, “my name is sung jinwoo.”
you nod and eagerly tell him your name, knowing your heart was steadily melting for him. when your food finally arrived, jinwoo was the one who helped with grilling your favorite cuts of meat, all while serving it to you with a bowl of rice and all of your favorite sides.
throughout dinner, you basked in jinwoo’s presence, enjoying the night with him as you told him all about your interests and the things that brought you joy-
but little did you know, jinwoo had already known all of these things about you.
his meeting with you had not been a serendipitous one, oh no.
when jinwoo first caught sight of you, it was when he saw you walking out of your apartment and ran some errands. where you had gone, he had long forgotten by now, but all he knew was that the moment he saw your face-
all he wanted to do was protect you; to shield you from the world while taking you in his embrace.
it was crazy that he could feel so strongly about another human being at first sight. it’s just… something about you pulled him to you-
like it wasn’t gravity that was keeping him grounded to the earth, but you.
and jinwoo never wanted this feeling to disappear.
he takes advantage of his powers as the shadow monarch, placing only the best of his soldiers within your shadow while watching your every move. and when merely watching you through a haze of darkness wasn’t enough, then he’d resort to physically following your every move.
jinwoo was proud to say that he has stalked you for close to a year now, memorizing your schedule and the places that you frequented. of course he knew that you weren’t big on drinking alcohol-
or how you cried during your favorite dramas-
and the way you fell asleep while clinging to your favorite plushies.
he documents all of these nuances pertaining to you, keeping several journals on him, documenting your likes and dislikes with his own musings, all while praying for the day he can meet you naturally-
a day like today.
he had stood outside your workplace, hiding his face beneath the hood of his hoodie while watching your movements through his soldiers’ eyes. anger coursed through him each time your coworker and supervisor piled on the work for you, further exhausting you.
when you finally stepped out of the building, jinwoo could see the relief in your eyes all while allowing his gaze to soften for you. wishing to make his first meeting with you as picture perfect as possible, he shadow exchanges himself toward your favorite restaurant before getting a table.
now it was just a waiting game-
and you were perfectly ensnared within his trap.
jinwoo notices the way your eyes kept sneaking glances at him, with you eating your meal without truly tasting anything. he could hear the slight hitch of your breathing and was delighted to hear the way the blood seemed to rush through your veins as your heart raced for him-
you were finally his.
wishing to further cement your growing affections for him, jinwoo pays for your meal before offering to drive you home, not once daring to leave your side the moment you step out of the restaurant together with him.
as jinwoo drove you home, he felt saddened at the fact that he would need to leave you so soon, not wishing to make you uncomfortable while pushing the boundaries you may not be ready to break-
however, he was certain that the disappearance of your boss and coworkers would spark some concern within you, and that you’ll run into his arms soon enough-
it was only a matter of time.

“Aye baby, what are you doing here?” A man asked you as you sat at the bar.
“Waiting for someone.” You answered firmly. “And you’re definitely not him.”
“Don’t be like that, babe,” he replied, sitting on the wooden barstool next to you. He scooted closer and looked at you curiously, gaging to see how far he could push you.
“You shouldn’t-” you started, scooting away.
“Pretty girls like you don’t last long in places like this.” He whispered, putting a hand on your thigh. “Let me pay for your drink and-”
Tumblr media
“And what?” Zoro asked, resting his hand on the hilt of his swords.
The man looked up and frowned. “Why if it isn’t the famous Roronoa Zoro. Are you here for this vixen?” He asked. “Sorry but she’s going home with me.”
“No she’s not.” Zoro easily grabbed the man by his collar. The customers at the bar left the fray alone, not wanting to be Zoro’s next prey. “Leave her alone and get the hell out.”
Shaking from fear, he nodded his head and dashed out of the bar, not looking back. Zoro sighed and sat next to you.
“Sorry I’m late, I got lost.”
Tumblr media
“-and that is no way to treat a lady.” Sanji exclaimed, his tone firm and unforgiving. “Despicable behavior.”
“Jealous?” The man asked, putting his hand over yours. You instantly pulled away, frowning from his sudden form of affection.
“Can you not!”’ you started.
Sanji’s face was red with fury. “She’s not interested.”
“Oh she definitely will be after I-”
Sanji lit a cigarette and pushed the man’s chest with his foot. When he was on the floor he scrambled backwards, hoping the space between them would be enough for the cook to leave him alone.
“Talk to her again and I’ll kick your face next time.” The blond threatened, looming over him. He puffed a sliver of smoke from his mouth and motioned for the brute to leave. The man nodded and scurried away. “Ah, yn-swan!” He turned to you, his voice sweet and caring, “let’s leave! I’ll make you something on the ship!”
Tumblr media
Before he could finish his sentence, you saw Luffy’s long rubber fist punch the man off the stool and crash into a few more tables and chairs, making customers around him scatter.
“Hey!” Luffy exclaimed happily, running up to sit next to you. “Sorry I had to knock that guy out. There were no open chairs near you except his!”
You laughed, knowing that Luffy clearly didn’t know the situation you were in before he arrived.
“It’s a good thing you knocked him out,” you replied, seeing the man passed out on the floor. “He wasn’t good company anyway.”
Tumblr media
A dark, shadowy hand slowly rose from the floor where he sat at, the dark aura not phasing your unwelcomed guest because he was focused on you. You easily noticed the purple hues, for you were used to them. Jin-Woo toyed with people, especially when he was bored.
“…so what do you say?” The man asked, not feeling the eerie presence around him.
“Not interested.” You answered calmly, taking a sip from your drink. “I’m still waiting for someone.”
“Yes, she is.” Jin-Woo said in a dark tone as his full body emerged from the shadows behind the man.
“Now who the hell are you?” He spat as he turned around.
“Someone who you don’t deserve to speak to.” The man didn’t even have to say anything else before he stormed out of the bar.
“Damn you didn’t have to scare him like that.” You smirked as the necromancer sat next to you.
Jin-Woo closed his eyes. “He was a waste of my time and yours. Now. What did you want to talk about.”

Hi, I'm Circe! Welcome to my list of random writings written from random bursts of thoughts and ideas!
Tumblr media
WARNING!
Due to the rise in AI usage and there has been some people using AI to write stories, I am strongly against people using my work and feeding it to AI bots. If anyone sees my work being used in such a way and kindly let me know or if I find out, I will not hesitate to delete my entire account altogether along with my works.
Myself and I'm sure other writers (including the talented artists) put a lot into their work. For our work to be used in such a way is an insult. If you're doing it because you don't want to wait or whatever other reasons. Reflect on your actions.
I'm putting this here as an obvious warning to all and I will not torlerate such actions. To my own work and other wonderful content creators.

About Requests
Characters I'll write for:
[CLOSED] HAZBIN HOTEL: Alastor (mainly); Lucifer, Vox (under consideration and depend on idea)
SOLO LEVELING: Sung Jinwoo (mainly); others (depending on request)
Reader Settings: I tend to set the reader as gender-neutral, otherwise, I am most comfortable with female-based reader inserts. Without any particular reason for the gender, it will be set as neutral
I do NOT write for SMUT and NSFW requests, as formerly stated. No ifs, or buts, or depending. If I see it in my inbox, I'll shut down the request function.
<Note>
You can check my works to see what kind of requests were sent and done to avoid repeated ideas or see the range of my genre.
For already sent requests that have yet to be written or replied to. BE PATIENT. Just because you sent a request does not mean I will 100% write it. Or that it just takes more time to write.
I have full right to decide NOT to write for that specific request at the end of the day. Like you are here to enjoy reading fanfics, I am here to enjoy writing them and receiving new ideas and comments on my work. Thank you.

╰┈➤ ❝ [ Let Me Pluck Out The Stars For You, Sunshine ] ¡! ❞
You don't know how you did it, but somehow the infamous Sung Jinwoo who is reveled in your grade level for his exceptional looks— Is your boyfriend. You were about to go home since the last bell of the school day rang in the distance. As you get up, you feel someone's chin rest on top of your hair. "Wanna walk home together, again?" Jinwoo asks with his calm and deep voice, his tone holding a sweet edge to it. "Hm?"
The pressure on top of your head had successfully snapped you out of your daze. Jinwoo removes himself from being nestled on your hair and looks down on your lovely face with the sweetest smiles on his face.
You shy away from his gaze, nodding your head slowly.
“Hm,” Jinwoo nods his head, leaning in to kiss the top of your head before stretching his large hand out to you— Offering it.
As soon as your palm touches his, Jinwoo lightly intertwines your fingers together as he leads you down the stairs.
He knew for a fact that you’re probably upset and not in the mood to talk about it. He wasn’t the type of boyfriend who would probe at his lover to get them to talk.
No.
Jinwoo was the type of person who is silent when he is upset, he’d rather be on his bed and dead asleep— Away from the world. He was often in his room whenever he wasn’t in the mood.
And today in particular, his beloved must be going through those emotions seeing how dejected and sluggish they are moving.
He shakes his head, gently tugging you to the alleyway and placing a finger on your lips to keep you from asking.
“It’s alright,” Jinwoo says. “How about we go on a makeshift date? It’s not a school day tomorrow so let’s spend the night away”
You didn’t protest, and in an instant, Jinwoo wrapped his arms around your waist, holding your waist as close as possible while the darkness beneath your feet hummed and whirled— As if it was rising. You then feel yourself getting lifted off of the ground and you panic.
“Sarang, it’s okay” Jinwoo chuckles, kissing your cheek as the shadows rose beneath the both of you and formed into a dragon made of misty shadows. “It’s all mine, so don’t be afraid”
As you both rose above the city lights, your eyes would then sweep towards the brilliant lights of the cityscape as Jinwoo flies both of you above it on the dragon’s back.
While your eyes are busily distracted on the cityscape, Jinwoo leans towards your ear— Kissing the shell sweetly to get your attention.
“How come you’re already this distracted, hm? I haven’t even started yet?” Jinwoo gently says as he commands his shadow to traverse over the expansive ocean glistening beneath the bright moonlight.
Fast as everything was, Jinwoo was unconsciously doing it because he felt like he would run out of time. After all, he wasn’t able to spend time with you like this before he had resetted time after defeating all the monarchs. He wanted to do so many things at once.
He spent years in the abyssal world murdering the monarchs all over again and levelling up. The stress of it all put him into a trance-like state where he feels just so lost in a complete daze of battle and bathing in blood as he leaves a river of bodies at his wake.
But either way, it isn’t about him tonight.
It’s about you.
The you who needs him at this moment. He doesn’t know what has frustrated you to this point. It could be the piling homeworks, the anxiety of your grades, the stress over preparing for the upcoming exams. Projects had been piling left and right with each subject becoming harder and harder.
Everything had just been stressful for you and he knew that you craved isolation more than anything else and you needed something to just take your mind off of anywhere.
And thank god it was working as he had taken you to an isolated island not yet soiled by human hands.
He loves the way your dreamy eyes would twinkle as you both traversed in the vast woods of the weird place. It was all just greenery and lovely fireflies fluttering about, illuminating the little path you were both exploring. Of course, Jinwoo summons a little flame on his hand so that you could see the plants you are stepping on.
Jinwoo loves that expression more than anything. Your pretty little face beaming with joy as it observes all the wonderful things this lone island had to bring. Tall, ancient old trees that had a comforting scent to them. The gentle rustles of the leaves as if it were singing melodies for you, the sounds of distant owls hooting were making you jump from spook and wonder, everything in here was just making you squeal like a child opening a christmas gift.
And behind you was your boyfriend, a gentle smile on his lips as he lovingly watched you prance around the fallen leaves and branches.
“Feeling better?” Jinwo asks sweetly, his arm finding itself instinctively wrapped around your waist.
You nod your head, and he rewards you again with another kiss.
You really can’t tell how many times he had kissed your forehead for the whole day at this point, he just kept giving you pecks left and right. As if he was making sure every pore on your face isn’t untouched by him. He would bring up your hand to his lips, kissing every knuckle on it,  silently making promises.
“Baby…” He purrs softly, nuzzling the side of your head with his nose, inhaling in your scent. “If there’s anything that bothers you, tell me, tell me and I’ll bring you somewhere far away to take your mind off of it. You just need to ask me, and I will do it. Don’t hide yourself from me”
Please,...
Don’t be like him, don’t be like him who needed to bottle up everything in his heart because he had a duty as a monarch. You shouldn’t be hiding away the pain you have inside your chest, you shouldn’t be in any sort of pain.
Jinwoo had resetted time for everyone’s sake, yes, but mostly it was because of you. He wanted to make up the lost time he had with you ever since he became a player. He felt awfully guilty for not having taken you out on dates. Sure, he did a few times when he was an S-ranked but most of the time he is drowned in work and you are left in your devices. The person who had supported him throughout all of his suffering.
He is doing this all to ask for forgiveness, each kiss is a silent sorry for the many seconds he had spent away from you.
So please,
Don’t let your heart be burdened with worries.
Don’t ever let your pretty face be crinkled with anxiety.
Let him do the heavy-lifting. Let him have the burden. Let him receive all the woe that is meant to befall on your pretty, pretty little face.
Like the stars above your heads, twinkling from millions of lightyears away, his love for you— Will always and continue to be endless as they are blanketing the dark night sky.

hello!! i was wondering if i could request a platonic Jinwoo x m! reader fic (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
y/n info: he'd very introverted and antisocial, making Jinwoo his only friend. he doesn't show much emotion, but not in a menacing way.. more like.. a doll? if that makes sense. he also lives in a very empty n ominous mansion-ish building. he doesn't talk much at all, but loves listening to Jinwoo talk. the first time he saw the shadows he was kinda spooked, but sees them as friends :3
so basically.. antisocial goth y/n :3
he may or may not have watched period dramas with Beru when Jinwoo wasn't there

Whenever Jinwoo finds himself remembering his childhood, the first thing that comes to mind is a huge mansion that was close to his house.
The reason for this was perhaps because she was completely different from anything he had ever seen.
Its color was as dark as a starless night, causing its figure to be rooted in the back of his mind like vines.
At the entrance, it had a large black gate with sharp spikes at the top; a vast and beautiful garden with long bushes of red roses, and in the center, there was a fountain – being the statue of an angel holding a vase. As said before, the mansion was completely black, along with its windows – which seemed to have a wine-like tone.
Jinwoo remembers that when his mother took him to school, they always passed in front of the mansion's big gate. Thus, causing Jinwoo's eyes to be immediately drawn towards her, and most of the time, he would see a figure in one of the windows on the 2nd floor, but the moment he blinked, It disappeared.
A few years later he discovered that people lived in that mansion.
The (l/n) family.
On a specific day, Mr. and Mrs. (l/n) had a big party, inviting everyone from the neighborhood. Jinwoo parents didn't want to seem rude, so they accepted the invitation.
Jinwoo will never admit it, but back then, he was afraid of the couple. Since the (l/n) only wore black clothes, and had this cold and indifferent aura.
But the moment the couple saw his family standing at the door of the mansion, they greeted them with a big smile on their faces – shined so much that could be compared to the sun itself – and a cheerful and kind personality.
Jinwoo remembers that Mr. (l/n) couldn't stop shaking his father's hand in an excited way.
Jinwoo's mother has him sitting on a soft red couch, while she goes to get him some appetizers to eat.
Seeing his mother disappear among the other guests, Jinwoo turns around, only to find himself face to face with a child sitting on the couch facing his.
Jinwoo is startled, giving a noticeable jump. He puts his hand on his heart, feeling it beating quickly, but Jinwoo swears it was about to come out of his mouth. This definitely took 5 years off his life.
After a while, Jinwoo calms down a little. 'Who is this boy? He wasn't here before...' he breaks out in a cold sweat, looking at the mysterious boy suspiciously.
Meanwhile, the boy was just there, looking at Jinwoo with those big, dilated eyes – like a wild animal staring at its prey, motionless as a statue.
Jinwoo wonders if this boy is a living person or just a weird, extremely detailed doll, as he doesn't even appear to be breathing and his face doesn't seem to express any specific emotion.
Unconsciously, the two began to have a competition of who blinks first. Jinwoo was afraid that if he blinked or looked away for a second, the boy would disappear or appear next to him on the couch.
Jinwoo was startled when his mother appeared holding a plate with some appetizers – placing it on the small table between the two boys.
Then, his mother started talking to the mysterious boy.
She turned around with a smile, "Jinwoo this is (m/n), son of Mrs. and Mr. (l/n), say hello to him."
After that day, the (l/n) family always called Jinwoo's family to have dinner together or just spend the weekend at the mansion playing golf – yes, they had a golf area in the back of the mansion.
This ended up resulting in the two families becoming great friends, along with Jinwoo and (m/n).
As time passed, Jinwoo realized that it wasn't that (m/n) didn't have emotions or feelings, he just didn't know how to express himself, ending up looking like a lifeless doll.
Like the day they met.
Jinwoo was surprised when (m/n) said that on the day of the party, he was very excited to talk to Jinwoo, but didn't know how to start.
So (m/n) just stood there...
staring at him.
Years later, when they were both adults, (m/n)'s parents moved to another city and left the mansion in (m/n)'s hands.
(m/n) didn't awaken as a hunter, so he started making dolls of all kinds. And he even made a lot of money selling them.
He had difficulty talking to other people, so the only friend he had in all these years was Sung Jin-Woo. And even when Jinwoo had his 2nd awakening, (m/n) thought it was really cool and remained his longtime friend.
But one thing was certain, Jinwoo always left Beru in (m/n)'s shadow.
The problem was...
(m/n) didn't know that.
(m/n) was almost finishing one of the dolls from an order.
The last thing he needed to do was choose which of the two dresses looked best on the doll.
'The blue or the red?' (m/n) asked himself mentally.
"blue " replied a voice from beyond.
(m/n) jumped, causing him to hit his knee on the table. As he cringed in pain, he could hear, deep in his mind, a desperate voice repeatedly apologizing and saying something like:
"My majesty will kill me!! ".
After that day, Jinwoo introduced Beru to (m/n).
(M/n) found it strange and uncomfortable at first. For the simple fact that when he was working, someone was there with him, watching what he was doing in complete silence.
So this was how Jinwoo felt when they were both kids and he just sat there and watched him play?
He was never much of a talker, but he loved listening to Jinwoo talk to him.
But after a while, the two started talking to each other, and every now and then, (m/n) asks the shadow in the shape of an ant, which of the dresses would look prettier on the doll.
Just like the day they met.
They definitely watched period dramas together at Jinwoo's house. And when Jinwoo arrived from a portal, (m/n) was asleep on Beru's shoulder.

Something’s Wrong
Antares!Jin-Woo x Reader
Tumblr media
Something was wrong with your boyfriend.
Or at least that was conclusion you chalked up to after his rather weird behavior.
Usually Jin-Woo was so precise about being at his jobs slightly earlier than scheduled but this morning you had been called (as his emergency contact) to let you know he had been nearly late for his work and asked if he had any troubles at home. Since you two didn’t live together yet, you had gotten worried and went to check on him, only being told to ‘Step aside, before the puny humans kill themselves’.
Therefore, you had decided to wait outside the dungeon patiently for him and the rest of the hunters. When they had come back, the hunters were noticeably shaken while “Jin-Woo” was covered in debris with a fanged grin on his face. To anyone else this would have been a major red flag but to you only had you cooing over him and trying to open his mouth to see if all his teeth were sharper than knives.
The other hunters looked upon you two with horror, while “Jin-Woo” merely slacked back and grumbled at your attempts and didn’t do much more than that.
This did seem to make a bit of pattern the rest of the day with you being affectionate with him and him ‘begrudgingly’ accepting it. Although you did notice a bit of reciprocation when the day was ending. It was even more so when you had to leave for the day.
You said your goodbyes and gave him a tight squeeze. You expected him to just grumble and wave you but when you felt a palm briefly touch your back, you were startled.
Surprised, you looked up to ask if he was feeling back to normal only to be stopped by a pointed glare.
However it did soften and soon his hand swiftly retreated.
“I suppose you are not as you humans say “all that bad”.

Chapter 20 [Draft]
Sung Jinwoo/Trial Player!Reader
CW:
Inspired by @circeyoru ‘s “Future Power Couple”
[Masterlist🦋✨️]
Tumblr media
Jinwoo expected a simple meeting.
The kind of meeting he had grown used to—just you, him, your butterflies, and his shadows. He wasn’t sure what he wanted out of today’s talk, but he knew it would be significant. So, imagine his surprise when, upon entering your shop, he was greeted not by you, but by a stunningly elegant woman clad in a mix of black and white, bowing deeply.
“Greetings, Sire,” she said, her voice calm yet warm. “It’s been a while. I hope Sir Jinwoo and his family have been well.”
Jinwoo blinked. That voice—so familiar. And that crimson hair, a vivid shade identical to that of one of your butterflies. He froze, a realization hitting him like a bolt of lightning.
“R-Red?” His voice faltered, disbelief clear in his tone.
The woman straightened, her fiery red eyes gleaming with unmistakable delight. “It truly is a pleasure to introduce myself to you properly now, Sire.”
She smiled brighter, and Jinwoo noted how similar it was to the glow your crimson butterfly displayed whenever it radiated happiness. She looked radiant, regal even, yet there was a gentle familiarity in her demeanor. Before he could say anything else, Igris’s shadowy form flickered out from his side, curiosity practically pouring off the knight’s ethereal figure.
“Oh, hello to you too, Sir Igris!” Red beamed, inclining her head toward him.
Igris stood motionless, the faintest tilt of his helm suggesting his own shock. Jinwoo didn’t know what was more surreal—the fact that one of your butterflies was now a person or the fact that she was now speaking to Igris like an old friend.
Then, he spotted you emerging from a doorway at the back of the shop, carrying a small box. Relief surged through him—finally, someone who could explain. He turned, and before he could stop himself, he fixed you with a very pointed, very intense stare.
You sweatdropped as you took in the scene: Jinwoo’s laser-focused expression, Red’s beaming aura, and Igris standing frozen while wearing what appeared to be a flower crown, likely crafted by Red.
“Stop glaring at me, Jinwoo,” you said, exasperated yet amused. “I’ll explain, seriously.”
---
The four of you eventually settled at a table in your shop’s small sitting area. Red served the drinks—tea for you, coffee for Jinwoo—before bowing again and stepping back to stand near Igris. Jinwoo’s eyes flicked between her and Igris, noting how her movements seemed to mimic those of her butterfly form—graceful, purposeful, almost weightless.
“So,” Jinwoo began, breaking the silence, “you can level up again now?”
You nodded. “Yes.”
“And your butterflies?” His gaze briefly darted to Red, who had taken a seat next to Igris and was now carefully braiding strands of crimson into the ethereal knight’s shadowy figure. Jinwoo had to fight the urge to rub his temples.
“The adult stage unlocked after I completed my ascension quest,” you explained, your tone calm and professional. “Once my children max out their pupa stage, they can ascend to a more corporeal form and gain autonomy. Red here was one of the first to make the leap.”
Jinwoo flinched slightly at the mention of the ascension quest and, by extension, the demon castle. The memory of you nearly collapsing in that fight still lingered in the back of his mind. But something else about your words caught his attention.
“What’s your level now?” he asked, feeling a mix of curiosity and dread.
You hesitated for a moment, your fingers brushing against the edge of your teacup. “I’m at level 150—”
Jinwoo exhaled, his pride slightly bruised but still intact. The gap was significant, but manageable. He’d just have to push harder—
“—last time.”
His mind screeched to a halt. “What?”
You fidgeted ever so slightly, a rare break in your normally composed demeanor. “Well, the system gave me cumulative EXP from all my previous quests. So, right now, I’m at level 200.”
Smack!
The sound of Jinwoo’s face meeting the table echoed through the room. You froze, startled. “Jinwoo?”
He didn’t answer, his arms now folded over his head as if to shield himself from the reality of your words. Even Igris seemed to flinch at the noise, the flower crown slipping slightly askew as Red stared on in muted curiosity.
With a sigh, you got up and walked over to Jinwoo’s slumped form. Gently, you ran your fingers through his hair, the soothing gesture a habit you’d picked up over the months. “Hey, it’s okay,” you murmured softly. “I’ve had years under the system and five years leveling up in an S-rank dungeon. Considering how fast you’re progressing, you’re doing amazing.”
Your hand stilled when Jinwoo’s fingers wrapped around it, his grip firm but not overwhelming. Slowly, he raised his head, his face still half-hidden in the crook of his arm. His ears were red, his cheeks flushed, and his eyes—half-lidded and glassy—refused to meet yours.
Oh my, you thought, struggling not to squeal internally. Is he… embarrassed?
Before you could tease him further, a familiar presence flickered at the edge of your mind. Your butterfly, Trick, spoke urgently: Mother! Miss Hae-In is—!
Simultaneously, Jinwoo’s gaze snapped to the distance, his expression turning serious. “You’re not coming?” he asked, though his tone held no judgment, only curiosity.
“No,” you replied softly. For a moment, you wanted to say more, to explain why, but you stopped yourself. Instead, you smiled at him, a look of quiet confidence and certainty.
“Then wait for me,” Jinwoo said, his hand tightening around yours before he leaned down to place a light kiss on your knuckles. His dark eyes never left yours, his gaze filled with an intensity that left your heart skipping a beat.
“Of course,” you replied, your voice steady despite the storm of emotions swirling within you.
He vanished into the shadows moments later, Igris trailing after him—but not before offering Red a small wave, which she returned with a subtle, wistful smile.
---
As silence returned to the room, you exhaled slowly, a strange determination settling in your chest. Red stepped up beside you, her expression now calm but expectant.
“Now then,” you said, setting your teacup down with a resolute clink. “Shall we see what these new powers can do?”
---
Jinwoo stood over the body of the Ant King, its grotesque form crumbling into ash under the weight of his shadows. But his focus wasn't on his victory. Instead, his eyes darted to the figure lying prone on the sandy ground. Cha Hae-In's body lay lifeless, save for the faint, flickering aura of a silver butterfly perched delicately on her cheek. It pulsed softly, a quiet rhythm that echoed her waning heartbeat.
The butterfly, one of yours. Jinwoo clenched his fists, frustration bubbling inside him.
"Why didn't she heal her completely?" Jinwoo muttered under his breath. You could’ve saved Cha Hae-In without breaking a sweat, yet you didn’t. His mind raced for answers. Was it the system? Had it restrained you again, as it so often did? Or… was there another reason?
His thoughts were cut short by the labored breathing of Hunter Cha. Jinwoo's jaw tightened. If you weren’t going to intervene fully, then it was up to him to finish what you'd started. You trusted him, didn’t you? He’d never failed you before—and he wasn’t about to start now.
The silver butterfly pulsed brighter, a soft hum that seemed to whisper, Hurry.
---
When Min Byung-Gyu opened his eyes, he was certain he should not have been able to. The last thing he remembered was the Ant King’s claws ripping through his body, the searing pain of his life slipping away. Yet here he stood, whole and unblemished, surrounded by a surreal, ethereal landscape.
The ground beneath him was soft, a mosaic of red spider lilies swaying gently in a nonexistent breeze. Their vibrant petals bled into a shallow pool of water, so pristine it mirrored the heavens above. Stars twinkled against the deep navy expanse of the sky, a sight unmarred by clouds or smoke.
And in the center of this dreamlike domain stood a figure cloaked in flowing white, her silhouette blurred at the edges as if dissolving into the glimmering butterflies that surrounded her. Her face was partially veiled, her lips and the tip of her nose visible beneath the translucent fabric.
"You really are a warm person," came her voice—soft, serene, and achingly familiar.
Byung-Gyu turned toward her, his eyes widening. That aura... that presence. It was healing, nurturing, and yet... unearthly. His heart told him he was in the presence of something divine, but his instincts as a healer told him this figure was no god. She was something more. Something human.
The woman smiled faintly, though there was a certain weight in her tone. "Would you like to return alive?"
Her words took him by surprise. Byung-Gyu took a step back, glancing down at his hands. His last memory was of his death—there was no mistaking it.
"I... What do you mean?" he asked hesitantly.
"I can give you a second chance to live," the woman replied. Her voice was unwavering, yet there was a detachment to it, as if she were merely relaying a message. "I think you deserve it. However, it’s not up to me to decide."
Byung-Gyu’s brows furrowed. He could feel the warmth emanating from her, yet there was something distant about her gaze.
"You have a strong sense of duty," she continued, her tone softening slightly. "But know this: if you accept my offer, you are to never step foot on the battlefield again. Even if your friends are in danger. Even if the world itself is ending. The moment you fight again, you will die."
Her words struck him like a thunderclap. Byung-Gyu’s lips parted as if to protest, but no sound came out. He stared at her, his mind swirling with questions, doubts, and fears. This woman—this being—spoke with an authority that was impossible to challenge. And yet, there was no malice in her decree.
“Would you accept?” She extended a hand toward him, her palm steady and unshaking.
Byung-Gyu hesitated, his gaze flickering between her hand and her veiled face. "If I accept…" His voice wavered, but he steadied himself. "Would you protect them in my stead?"
The woman stilled, her expression unreadable. Then, she gave a single nod. "I will stand by humanity’s side."
Byung-Gyu frowned. It wasn’t the answer he wanted. He wanted to hear her say she would fight for them, defend them tooth and nail, as he had. But deep down, he knew better. This figure wasn’t a soldier. She wasn’t a protector in the way he was.
Still, there was something in her aura—something profoundly human. It reminded him of a mother’s love: steadfast, unwavering, and all-encompassing.
"...I'll try my best," she added quietly, her voice softer now, tinged with an emotion he couldn’t place. "Even if you don’t accept."
And just like that, his doubts began to crumble. He didn’t know why, but he trusted her. Maybe it was her warmth, or perhaps it was the quiet resolve in her voice. Whatever the reason, Byung-Gyu felt a strange peace settle over him.
"Then…" He exhaled deeply, his shoulders relaxing. "I choose—"
A soft flutter interrupted him, and he turned his head. A single butterfly had landed on one of the spider lilies, its delicate wings glowing faintly in the starlight. It flitted up toward him, brushing past his cheek like a whisper before disappearing into the wind.
And in that moment, Byung-Gyu made his decision.
---
It was a miracle. There was no other way for Jinwoo to describe it.
The raid had concluded, and the air was heavy with the lingering tension of their battle against the Ant King. Cha Hae-In was stabilized but unconscious, cradled in Ma Dong-Wook’s arms, her condition precariously maintained by the shadow Min Byung-Gyu had become. Jinwoo, adhering to Baek Yoonho's heartfelt plea, had released the shadow of the fallen healer. For Jinwoo, it was an act of respect, honoring the wishes of the man who had given so much for humanity.
They were preparing to leave the cavern when a panicked shout rang out.
“S-Something is happening to Min Byung-Gyu's body!”
Jinwoo’s head snapped toward the source of the commotion. In the dim light of the cave, the sight unfolding before him was unmistakable: Byung-Gyu’s decapitated body was now enveloped in a radiant, otherworldly glow. The light was blinding, drowning out the cavern in pure white brilliance. Gasps echoed through the group as everyone shielded their eyes.
What the—” Jinwoo muttered, his instincts immediately going on high alert.
When the brilliance faded, Jinwoo and the others were left staring in stunned silence.
Min Byung-Gyu's body lay intact. Whole.
Not only had his previously severed head returned to its rightful place, but the wounds from the Ant King were gone. His chest rose and fell with steady breaths, his face peaceful as though waking from a restful sleep.
And then he stirred.
The collective shock in the cavern was almost tangible. No one moved or spoke, rooted to their spots as Min Byung-Gyu’s eyelids fluttered open.
He blinked slowly, his gaze sweeping the room until it landed on Baek Yoonho, who stood frozen, eyes wide and trembling. Byung-Gyu’s expression softened as a faint smile spread across his lips.
“Hyung?”
The single word shattered the silence. Baek Yoonho staggered forward, his mouth opening and closing as if searching for words that wouldn’t come.
“Byung-Gyu…” he finally choked out, his voice breaking.
It was a sight none of them could comprehend.
The others stared, their gazes flitting between Jinwoo and the revived healer. Choi Jong-In, Lim Tae-Gyu, Ma Dong-Wook, and even the A-rank reporter clutching his unpowered camera couldn’t hide their bewilderment. All eyes eventually settled on Jinwoo, silently demanding an explanation.
Jinwoo shook his head, signaling that he had nothing to do with it.
But inwardly, he knew. His sharp gaze caught the faint imprint of a butterfly at the base of Byung-Gyu’s neck, its golden shimmer unmistakable. It was your mark.
You had done this.
---
Later, when the others had left the cave to regroup and ensure Cha Hae-In received medical attention, Jinwoo lingered. He stood in the dim cavern, arms crossed, his shadowy aura faintly pulsing as he waited.
“You sure know how to make an entrance,” Jinwoo teased when the soft glow of silver butterflies appeared behind him, swirling gracefully before forming your familiar figure.
Your pout was immediate, and Jinwoo bit back a grin at how predictable you were. “You don’t need me, anyway,” you retorted with a sigh, brushing imaginary dust off your attire. “You have things under control.”
Jinwoo crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow. “Did I?” he asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice. “Because it sure felt like someone went out of their way to ensure things went a little smoother.”
Your expression faltered for a moment, and you glanced away. “I only stepped in when it was absolutely necessary,” you admitted. “Min Byung-Gyu deserved a second chance. And Hae-In...” You trailed off, your tone softening. “She’s a good person.” Jinwoo didn’t press further, sensing there was more you weren’t saying. Instead, you shifted the topic.
“Jinwoo, help me test something,” you said abruptly, interrupting his thoughts.
He tilted his head, intrigued.
“I’ve been wondering why I keep accumulating experience even when the system doesn’t assign me quests anymore. You hog all the EXP and rewards,” you accused, narrowing your eyes at him.
The jab hit its mark, but Jinwoo’s pride wouldn’t let it show. Instead, he smirked. “Maybe you just can’t keep up,” he said, his tone deliberately teasing.
Your unimpressed stare nearly made him laugh.
“And what do I get for helping you?” he asked, leaning slightly closer, curious about how far you’d go to win him over this time.
“What do you want?”
The question, spoken with such quiet sincerity, caught him off guard.
Your gaze was steady, unwavering, as if you had already anticipated his response. Jinwoo blinked, momentarily at a loss. Was it wrong that your willingness to offer him anything stung a little? Did you think so little of his intentions?
“…Dinner,” he muttered, almost too softly to be heard.
You frowned. “Pardon?”
He straightened, rubbing the back of his neck—a nervous tick you had come to recognize. “Join me for dinner,” he said more firmly, avoiding your eyes.
Your lips twitched into a faint smile. “You do realize that sounds like a date, right?”
The effect was immediate. Jinwoo stiffened, his composure cracking as he quickly tried to explain himself. You could practically see the gears in his head turning as he stumbled over his thoughts.
You let him flounder for a moment before cutting him off with a soft laugh. “I’m joking. Sure, why not?”
Relief flashed across his face, though it was quickly masked by a neutral expression. He wasn’t sure what he’d expected, but your easy acceptance left him feeling oddly... dissatisfied.
---
As you suspected, your theory proved correct. You gained experience not through direct combat but by supporting others. Assisting Jinwoo, boosting his shadows, and stabilizing Cha Hae-In had all contributed to your growing level.
Yet, Jinwoo’s mood throughout the ordeal was noticeably subdued. Despite his usual stoic demeanor, there was a shadow of dejection in his eyes that even his loyal shadows couldn’t explain.
When you asked them for at least some short of indication to what was going on, they only shrugged apologetically, as if to say, “Our sincerest apologies. We have no idea what’s troubling Our Liege as well.”
You rubbed your temples in frustration, your butterflies fluttering around you in a show of concern.
What has gotten into him now?

yandere!sung jinwoo x fem.reader
anonymous asked: Hello! I've always admired your writing, and finally thought of an ask for you! What about yandere jinwoo with an oblivious reader? Its kinda funny how the reader has so much influence over him, and dont realize it, after all, how could they think he's dangerous when he's all soft for them, and only them... Oblivious to all the danger he causes to others
warnings: incredibly dark themes; harassment and petty bullying.
you felt butterflies erupting all across your abdomen, feeling your gaze darting all across the new sights and scenery of your high school. feeling a bit uncomfortable, you pull at the collar of your blouse and adjusted your tie at least a hundred times leading up to this very moment.
tightening your grip on your bag, you hardened your resolve and nodded, stepping into the school with as much confidence that you could manage. avoiding the crowd of students, you kept to yourself and take the flight of stairs up to the second floor. you trail your eyes across the labeled classroom before entering the one labeled 2-a.
you pass by a boy wearing a single glove, reading his textbook while flipping the pages with a bored expression. he sits near the back row, and you take the opposing corner, trying to remain as small as possible while getting out your pencils and notebooks for the day.
the sight of you settled off to the side makes the boy stop reading, and you caught a glimpse of how he was staring at you from your periphery, but wasn’t brave enough to meet his gaze. instead, you distract yourself by writing reassuring mantras in your notebook.
it’s going to be fine.
today is the first day of class for everyone.
surely no one is going to notice how you’re the newbie.
as the minutes ticked by, you became increasingly aware of the students that walked in, laughing while talking about their breaks. just as the bell rings, signifying the start of the day, your homeroom teacher just had to notice you as he forced you to introduce yourself to the whole class.
throughout it all, you were a stuttering mess, forcing out the syllables that made up your name all while feeling like your knees would give away at any minute now. the heat was felt burning against your cheeks, traveling down the length of your neck by the end of it all. when the teacher lets out a grunt of approval, you sat back down as quickly as you could.
a rich chuckle was heard coming from your left, and you took a quick peek over to see the same, perfect boy who had been studying softly laughing at you. his attention was on his open textbook, but you could tell that he was still looking at you from his periphery, those grey eyes drawing you in-
you clear your throat and look away from him, feeling the warmth now spreading to the rest of your body. the hours kept ticking by until finally, it was lunchtime. you grab your lunchbox from the confines of your bag, but found that you didn’t have much of an appetite.
as you debated on what to do for lunch, a loud whistle makes you gasp, looking over to see a group of rowdy looking boys making their way towards you. you visibly stiffen, willing them to go away, but your prayers were all for naught when the entered the classroom, already sauntering their way closer to you.
“man, when i heard there was a new girl here, i didn’t expect her to be so cute.”
you cling to your lunchbox, ready to bolt when needed. your anxiety was shot through the roof now, watching as the boys came closer to you when they suddenly stopped dead in their tracks. it appeared that they had a difficult time moving, like there was an invisible wall that kept them from coming closer to you. noticing their strange behavior, you visibly relax, watching their stiff movements as they walked out of the classroom and fell into a pile in the middle of the busy hallways.
laughter was heard erupting all across the hallways, and you breathed out a sigh of relief. the same soft chuckle was heard, and you look upwards to see your classmate standing before you. he had perfect, ebony locks of hair with grey eyes that shone with a startling clarity. “hey, are you alright?”
“oh, i’m fine! thank you for asking…”
the boy shakes his head. “there’s no need to be so stiff around me. just think of me as your new friend.”
your mind was spinning now, practically on cloud 9 at the thought of having this cute boy as your new best friend. you smile up at him, watching as he sheepishly brushes back his hair before reaching out a hand for you to take. “the name’s sung jinwoo, and would you like to have lunch together with me?”
you nod and stand from your seat with your lunchbox in hand. “of course!”
jinwoo gives you a kind smile, stepping out of the classroom with you. you see the same rowdy boys glaring daggers at jinwoo, yet he doesn’t relent, standing protectively in front of you. the boys end up scoffing before walking away. as jinwoo leads you in the opposite direction, you remain blissfully unaware of how shadows seemed to dart away from jinwoo while aiming toward the group of boys who dared to make you uncomfortable.
{ … }
the trio of girls had purposely intercepted your walk to school, pulling at your hair before tossing you aside, making you land against the hard pavement of the sidewalk. you had the air knocked out of your lungs when you suddenly felt the contents of your packed lunch land over your head.
tears were felt filling at your eyes, and you watch as a girl leans down closer to you, her blond curls framing at her face while icy blue eyes glare down at you, “who the hell do you think you are, getting so close to my jinwoo like that?”
her lackeys stand beside her, all sneering at you while exchanging looks of disdain towards you. ah, it seems as though your seemingly perfect life was coming to an end, with jinwoo’s own fanclub coming after you now. you had barely been basking in your school life and newfound freedom with jinwoo for a month when the drama suddenly started.
it started about a week ago, when you found safety pins on your seat and your notebooks ripped to shreds. you did your best to ignore it while hiding your troubles from jinwoo, yet it only seemed to strengthen the bully’s hatred for you.
and now, it had come to a boiling point, as the three girls continued to mock and sneer at you, teasing you, making fun of all your imperfections while stating how you were a mere “charity case” for jinwoo.
by the end of their torment, you were a sobbing mess, all alone as the girls quickly left you behind with their harsh laughters echoing in your ear. the stickiness felt from having your lunch dumped all over you made you feel worse than you ever felt, and you knew that you couldn’t go to school like this.
while you were wallowing in your misery, you remain completely unaware of the way your shadow lengthened, reveal jinwoo as he steps out of it. he says nothing, simply falling down to his knees before taking you in his arms. “i was worried about you not being in class today.”
hearing his voice makes you cry out to him, facing him as you hugged him closer to you. jinwoo didn’t mind how messy your uniform was, simply holding you closer to his chest. he lets out soft coos of your name, allowing you to let out all of your tears and frustrations. while keeping your head kept protectively against his chest, his eyes began to glow a startling purple hue, already commanding his soldiers to get rid of three, new targets.
{ … }
after your encounter with the bullies, the next day, you felt a strange sense of dread consuming you. you truly wanted nothing more than to skip-
or transfer-
yet jinwoo stops you from even considering moving away from him. and after much convincing from his end, (“don’t worry, i’ll be by your side the whole time if those girls come back!”) you relent and head to school with him.
upon entering your classroom, you felt a strange sense of relief filling you. you saw no signs of those nameless, petty girls, and you visibly relaxed. upon entering the classroom with jinwoo, he seemed to flash you a knowing grin, as if silently telling you i told you so.
needless to say, with those girls seemingly gone, (maybe even transferred to a different school?), you were able to resume the peaceful school days with jinwoo by your side.
and of course, he shared his lunch with you because he “always made extra” and knew of your healthy appetite.
of course he walked home with you every single day after your club activities, simply because “it was dangerous for girls to walk home at night” and he was your “best friend who wished to keep you safe.”
you saw no red flags-
becoming so blinded by his own brilliance that it made you blissfully unaware of the neverending darkness settled in the depths of his heart and soul.
{ … }
it was amazing how you couldn’t see just how obsessed sung jinwoo was with you.
ever since that first day, where you had entered his classroom and introduce yourself, becoming a mess of stutters in the process-
you had completely captured jinwoo’s heart.
throughout that first day, he kept sneaking glances at you, thinking of way to properly approach you before wrapping his tendrils of darkness around your heart, further trapping you within his web.
with beru and igris talking his ear off, knowing of their king’s desire to capture your heart as well, they were obnoxiously supportive, thinking of ways to help with winning you over. and just as he was ready to approach you-
those damn men had to ruin it all.
jinwoo could see the fear and discomfort in your eyes-
the way you stiffened in response and how you looked like you wanted nothing more than for the earth to swallow you whole.
but he stops them from coming any closer to you, using his abilities as the shadow monarch to freeze them, controlling their jerky movements until they were tossed out of the classroom.
later that night, after beru had dealt with them, jinwoo reappears and gazes down at their lifeless bodies.
arise.
he commands their shadows to awaken, tying their souls to him for all eternity as they now obeyed his every desire and whim. even when the teachers questioned their absences, jinwoo made sure to dispose of their corpses. he had thought about erasing everyone’s memories pertaining to them-
but he was achingly aware of how it would alter your memories as well, which made him hesitate when it came to executing it. for now, as long as you remained blissfully unaware, then he would allow yours (and everyone else’s memories) to remain intact.
after all, what did he have to worry about? to the whole world, he was the ideal student, making 100’s on all of his assignments while doing his best to win the heart of the girl he adores. no one has any reason to suspect him of any foul play.
and he was going to use this seemingly perfect image of him to his advantage.
once jinwoo saw you again, he pretends to bump into you, successfully gifting you his freshly made soldiers by having them morph into your shadow as you remained clueless to his abilities.
after all, seeing your smile and how much happier you were with them out of your life was like receiving a piece of heaven for jinwoo. he lived for your laughters and could feel his devotion for you growing by mere seconds.
that was his first act of love and devotion toward you.
and the second act?
i believe we know when that was, too.
red hot anger was felt coursing through jinwoo’s veins when he found you broken and tossed aside, with the contents of your lunch thrown over you. though it pained him a great deal to watch your suffering through the eyes of his shadows, he had to confirm the identity of your pursuers before taking action.
as you sought comfort within his embrace, jinwoo commanded at least a hundred of his soldiers to stalk those who dared to bully you, not even feeling an ounce of regret when not even their corpses were found due to how they had all been ripped to shreds.
jinwoo didn’t bother extracting shadows from his latest victims, knowing that you would be so much happier without any traces of them close to you.
so, as he lay in bed with you sleeping so soundly within his arms, he silently vows his loyalty to you alone. his heart already burning with an inferno of emotions when it came to you and how you made him feel so alive-
and he never wanted this feeling to end.
he would never tell you the truth of his darkness either, or the things he had done to keep you safe and happy, oh no-
for why would he when you could forever remain his precious girl, living in a perfect sandbox that he had made specifically for you, all while swearing to protect it with his life?

Chapter 1 - My Family has alot of members!
Sung Sohee (Age 6) First Year Elementary School
Tumblr media
Hello my name is Sung Sohee! I’m the youngest kid in my family! I’am currently 6  years old and my big brother is 7 years old! I live in a happy happy family! Tho sometimes i think they are a bit crazy, on how my brother draws big purple ants and giant purple knights with these other tall purple guys around me and my family. The other day I even caught him drawing himself and me surrounded by tall scary looking purple guys! kinda freaky huh ? Even my brother kept asking me and telling me how I can't see what he sees .... Sometimes I feel like my brother can see ghosts, I can always feel a lot of people around us everywhere we go but, it’s just I can't see them… am i a freak too??…anyways! I’m way better at socializing than him…haha take that suhoo blee! People seem to always be scared of him, dunno why tho… anyways, people often confuse me and my brother as twins, but does having a one year age gap come off as twins??? Adult world sure is weird! Anyways….Miss Unnie has assigned my class an assignment to write about my family! So I have to interview them one by one!
“Jinwoo, Suhoo, come here for a second would you boys? Sohee has an interview she needs to do with us all.” Cha Hae In the mother asked as the boys came down from the stairs sitting together in the sofa with Sohee sitting facing all three of her family members holding a pencil and a paper. The mother, sensing her daughter’s eager gaze, nods motioning her to start the interview.
“Hmm soo I’ll go with Dad first!” the girl faces her dad with stars in her eyes, seemingly excited “Alright Sohee, go ahead what do you want to ask?” The father answers with a loving gaze towards his one and only daughter. “Okay! Dad , what do you do for work?? and how does it feel to work with your friends??” “Hmm i work as a detective Sohee, and it feels great to have people to rely on when you work, teamwork is important after all..” The Father answers with certainty.
The girl wrote her discovery in the paper as she nodded, satisfied “Okay!! Hmm and for big brother Suho! How does it feel to be a big brother to this great little sister??” “Huh great?? you are not that great at all Sohee! And to answer your question, it feels nice to have a sister to play with!” The boy said as he grins and pinched the girl’s cheek. “Ouch ouch! Big brother Suhoo please stahp!” as she turns to her mother next, “As for mama, How does it feel like to be surrounded by a family together??”
“A family? It is what keeps us strong, to be with each other along the way and protect each other.” The mother replies with a sweet smile as she leans to kiss her daughter’s head. The girl nods again as she hums in satisfaction before standing up and saying “I think that's all!” “That's not all!” Suho interrupts as he points towards the empty space behind the couch of the living room, "you forgot mister knight, mister ant, and the others!”
The girl tilts her head in response, “Huh mister ant, mister knight, and the others? you mean the ones from your drawing?” Meanwhile Cha Hae-In turned towards her husband Jinwoo looking for an explanation, as he smiled knowingly. Suho nodded as he said, “Come on, give them questions too!” Sohee in response, “Um okay!” as she nods enthusiastically.
As time passed by with Sohee asking questions to mister ant and mister knight, while Suho and Jinwoo answering Sohee’s question in favor of answering mister ant and mister knight’s questions… The clock strikes 8 indicating bedtime for the little girl as she writes her answers with a yawn and drowsy eyes.
Cha Hae-In, looking at her daughter’s tired form, smiled as she stood up before signaling to her husband to take Sohee to bed while she prepared her room for sleep. "Jinwoo mind preparing her for bed? I'll tidy up her bedroom.." The husband replied as he kissed his wife in the cheeks, "Mhm of course honey.."
Suho sensing her sister’s sleepy eyes took a seat beside her and let the girl’s head lean on his form, sitting in silence with only soft breathes of the girl audible. Jinwoo, seeing this, smiled as he carried her daughter gently, rocking her to sleep well. The girl, noticing that she is in her dad’s arms, hugs her father’s neck in comfort of sleep as she states in a sleepy manner…”Hey Dad…”
Jinwoo replied, “Hmm? what is it Soohe?” …. “Even if i can’t see mister ant,  mister knight, and the other misters…Can i still take them as family?....I’m not imagining things, I can sense them with me Dad, It’s just I can't see them…even if it freaks me out…having them beside me is comforting…” The girl answered slowly as she drifted off to soft snores not realizing the shocked face of her father’s and the pure joy of her brother’s.
“Look Mister knight, Mister ant, and everyone!! Sohee finally sees you guys as family!!” The boy turns towards the used to be empty corner of the living room now filled with a giant ant and a giant knight standing behind them. Jinwoo laughs as he comments on this, turning to face two of his shadow soldiers, “Beru, Igris, everyone.. looks like my daughter had taken a keen liking towards you all..”
"My liege! kekekekeke how sweet the young princess! hik kekekeke” the ant cried on an emotional basis as he felt touched by the girl in his father’s arms. “It would be an honor, my king…” the knight bowed as he felt a sense of loyalty towards the child.
Jinwoo smiled in response, his eyes dims a hue of purple, as he turns towards his son stroking his daughter’s hair gently “Even if she can’t see any of you soldiers, she would always believe you are all there for her……so now it is our job to protect her, right Suho?” “Yes Dad! Anything for Sohee!” The son replied with determination in his eyes. As the soldiers of the shadow monarch silently pledge their loyalty to protect their young princess no matter the cost. That night, the sung’s household is filled with warmth like always.
Sohee woke up in the next morning with a big smile on her face, excited about the assignment she is going to share infront of her class.
“Good Morning everyone! Today I’m going to share about my family! They are my father, mother, brother, mister ant, mister knight, and much more!” The class cheered with comments of curiosity and amazement as the presentation finished. “I never knew ants can be a part of a family!” “Hey so fairytales do come true!!” “Can I meet your family Sohee??” The teacher just shook her head in disbelief as she thought to herself, ‘ah kids have such wild imaginations..’
Meanwhile her father and his shadow soldiers watch her from a distance, cheering as Sohee finishes her presentation. “Kekekeke way to go young princess, crush those useless humans with the grandest presentation!” The ant laughs maniacally as the knight stands beside him silently cheering for the girl.

Haneul: Your smile? It makes my day.
Jinwoo: Your happiness? I live for that.
Jong-In: A room? Get one.
Yoonho: Hotel? Trivago.
Haneul: at least I’m not single
Jong-In: well at least I know how to behave in public
Haneul: oh, yeah? Since when telling your partner that his smile is beautiful and it makes my day it’s going beyond PDA, ah?
Meanwhile Baek Yoonho and Jinwoo are witnessing one of the most amazing battles in forever.
Yoonho: i didn’t know she could do that.. *points at Haneul wrestling Jong-In like professional wrestler from the WWE*
Jinwoo: i didn’t know that either..
Meanwhile the shadows are cheering for their queen and helping here and there without anyone else noticing.
