Love Trial = Requested
[Sung Jinwoo x High School Ex-Lover!Reader]
The Requests ― Part 1 (here) ― Part 2
Sung Jinwoo. The Hunter who was praised for his bravery and selflessness, the Hunter who was the embodiment of Cinderella, and the Hunter who was hailed as a hero no matter where he went and how he acted. All because he acted for the good of the people around him, be it former foes or strangers in another country, he protected all. He was humanity’s strongest shield and sword against the dangers of the monsters within the vile Gates.
Yet to you, his shining image was clouded with the shadows that surrounded him. In your memory of him, one stood out more than the rest, more than the good deeds he’s done, more than the joyous memories you made with him.
“I’m sorry. Let’s break up.”
His words pierced your heart and body like no other. The shield you held over your heart was long gone and the walls you built around you long crumbled, all because of the knight in front of you. You can’t say you didn’t expect it, you have and mentally prepared yourself, still… It hurts oh so much.
“I understand. I wish you happiness, Hunter Sung. May your days be nothing of smiles and content.”
And you turned and left to hide your tears. Even knowing that Jinwoo would one day leave you because he was stronger now and would have more and better choices, you craved—clung—to the fantasy that he wouldn’t leave you behind after everything that you’ve done for him. You drank till your body couldn’t handle and your bartender friend called in your reliable friend from back in your college days. You cried in his chest. Why? Why weren’t you a Hunter as well? You could have done more! More for your dearest lover! Maybe then, you wouldn’t be abandoned.
That night was agonizing to live through. It was the worst day of your life. Perhaps, you were in love with the idea of love. You and Jinwoo did fall for the other over some silly comment and gossip from your classmates, then you started seeing the other differently. You two thought they were right and loved each other like actual lovers. How immature of you. Look what that led you?
It took some time, but you recovered with the help of your college friend. He helped more than you could ever thank him for. If he weren’t such a workaholic or that heated up then maybe your heart could have been swayed. Still, you knew for a fact; that you couldn’t—wouldn’t—be in another relationship any time soon.
When the world appeared to be coming to an end, you stared out your apartment window and sighed. Jinwoo must be saying his final farewells to his loved ones; his mother, his younger sister, that brother of a Hunter Jinho, and his new lover Cha Hae-In. It didn’t ache as much now than before when you thought about their official relationship and Jinwoo moving on so quickly while you took your time recovering. Now, you were fine with the time you had for yourself.
Your phone rang and you picked it up without a thought, a voice spoke from the other end. “World’s ending, thought I should check up on you.”
“How nice of you.” You chuckled from your end and retreated back into your apartment and away from the window, “Aren’t you busy with your guild affairs to call me?”
“I can still rest, can’t I? Here I was being nice and now I’m scolded.” You hummed, knowing the man from the other end heard it loud and clear. There was a pause before he continued, “Any regrets? Might as well say it since the world is ending.”
“Why should I tell you?” You meant it as a tease since you two have been close and shared a lot with each other. Way more that people could have confused you two as lovers at some point.
“Think of it as a goal for your next life. I wish we had our silly friendship and that there were no more beasts to fight off so I could work.”
You remained silent for a while. What would you wish for? What was your regret? You glanced over to a corner, you know it was because of the lighting that there was a shadow, but you couldn’t help but be reminded of a certain someone. Your lips moved while your eyes were glued to the shadow, speaking your mind, “I regret having let down my guard for him. I wish… I never met him.”
Whether it was the heavens taking pity on you or cursing you, you can’t tell. The moment you woke up, you were back home and alive. The only difference was that you have shrunk. No. That’s too light of a term. To be more specific, you have turned back to a child. It made no sense whatsoever that it was a dream. A dream too realistic since you could feel the clothes covering your body and the wind against your skin, even smell the familiar cooking of your parents. Not to mention, eat it!
You accepted it as reality when a week passed and nothing changed. You figured that you were reliving your life due to regrets. Or maybe a lot of people had regrets so everyone is reliving their lives right now. Yet you were the only one who seemed to have remembered anything about Hunters and Gates. Well, the moment you realized that, you shut up and said it was all a dream to anyone you asked, a child’s fantasy is wild after all, so none was the wiser.
First things first, though, you had to avoid being in the same high school as Jinwoo. Easy enough as you had another school that was much closer to your apartment now. It was so easy for you to change your future since you were the only one that know what would happen. Cha Hae-In is Jinwoo’s fated lover, so at some point, they’d meet each other and fall in love. No surprise, but you want to be away from that drama.
“Dear! Can you get the door for me?” Your mother’s shout brought you out of your musical trance.
“Yes, mom!” You placed your violin down and hopped onto the couch. Your footsteps pitter-patter through the floor. You reached the door and opened it, knowing the metal fence as the outer door was closed to protect you in case of an attempt at breaking and entering. “Who is it—?!”
The bright red hair and the matching red eyes, you recognize them anywhere. The boy in front of his parents smiled with his head bowed to give his greetings. “Hello! I’m Choi Jong-In, your new neighbour. I’ll be studying at XXXX Middle School if you want,” His closed-eyes smile softened as his eyelids opened again to meet your shocked gaze. “We can walk to school together.”
Words seemed to have been sucked out of your mouth as you stared at the boy. Your parents had come to the door and welcomed the boy inside while you were still in a daze. In the past, you had never met Jong-In this early; you met him when you two were in college and Jinwoo in high school. Perhaps because you avoided meeting Jinwoo, now you met Jong-In. Well, you can’t complain. It was a good change.
“What a coincidence! We go to the same school.” You smiled back and introduced yourself. He repeated your name, and a wave of nostalgia washed over you. And so started your friendship with your former best friend from your past life.
.
.
.
As time passed, days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, months turned to years. There were no such things as Gates or Hunters or even mana. Everything was just perfectly normal, just as you pleased. You momentarily looked up from your phone at the cluster of people before you stared up into the sky. Your eyes widened as you caught sight of what appeared to be a Gate in the sky. Even after a few moments, nothing happened, and no Hunters were awakened. You couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
You passed by an ice cream shop and wondered if you should grab a cup of ice cream while waiting for your friends. Your attention was taken away when your phone buzzed and you looked down once more to see what the notification was about. Ah, your friend’s here.
You walked away from the shop and entered the crowd, entirely missing the boy who rushed out of his seat from the window table and tried to catch you. You heard your name being called out, and you went in that direction, finding the redhead waving his hands in your direction. You chuckled and went over to him. “Hey.”
“Hey to you too, let’s get out of here. It’s so crowded.” Jong-In placed his arm around your shoulders and led you away from the crowd.
When you look back up at the sky, nothing happens, and the crowd starts to disperse. As you and Jong-In chatted up a storm, ignoring the chatter around you two, you also didn’t notice how the boy had stared at you longingly with guilt and envy in his eyes while the shadows around him twisted and swirled, reflecting his conflicting emotions.
.
.
.
“Have you heard? That running star, Sung Jinwoo, is going to this college too!”
“I heard! I also heard he’s still single too!”
“You think I got a chance with him?”
“No way. I heard he’s a heartbreaker! Even Cha Hae-In’s no match for him.”
“Aw… That’s crazy.”
You stood up and moved to another seating area with a deadpan emotion. After finding a good seat, you sat down and returned to whatever you were doing on your phone. Up until now, you had been able to predict what happened since that was the point in time that Jinwoo went to become a Hunter. Basically, since high school, you were on your own. You managed just fine because the moment you weren’t in the same school as Jinwoo, it was the same as you never having to meet each other. Even better as it saved you from heartache and unnecessary emotions.
Still. You were beyond confused as to why Jinwoo wasn’t together with Cha Hae-In when they were so lovey-dovey in your previous life. There’s no way you heard it right. Gossip is just that, gossip. It’s never true, and even if some parts are, the majority of them are twisted to match whatever the listener and speaker want to hear or know.
The students in the lecture hall suddenly squealed as they all whispered about the newest student who came in. You glanced up and huffed with a smirk, watching with a teasing look at Jong-In, who was called by men and ladies alike. He was popular, after all. He came to your seat and gave you that gentlemanly smile, “Come on, you free to go now?”
“Geez, not sure. I feel like sitting a bit longer.” You taunted shamelessly.
You watched as his eye twitched and his smile widened dangerously. “Don’t be such a tease. You know we’ll be late for lunch.”
“Lunch is a whole few hours long; we can afford to be late for a few… say… 30 minutes or so?”
At your words, Jong-In immediately started packing your belongings for you, strapping your bag over his shoulders, then pulling you out of your seat and dragging you out of the hall. People all cooed in your direction, some even whistled.
You let him do so until you two were in a more secluded hallway when you spoke up. “You know I was just teasing. Who told you to be so popular?”
“And here I thought having you around me would ward off people…” Jong-In sighed, finally letting you go of your hand. “Sorry for being rough.”
“It’s no big deal.” You shrugged and took back your bag. “So, the confessions are still sky high?”
“Not sky high, but still a number of them.” Jong-In fixed his glasses, raking his hair with his fingers, “Seriously, I just want to focus on my studies and get started on my work!”
You and Jong-In have been close and the best of friends, in the past and current life. In both lives, he was basically married to work, or study at the moment. Jong-In had no want for romance, and you avoided the whole romance thing, so both of you came to the agreement of being a fake couple to ward off other people. Since you two were close enough to do what couples do without feeling romantically attracted to the other, well, nothing like kissing but hand-holding and hugging was acceptable.
Jong-In looked over to you, who was still very much unaffected and chill about everything. The winds seemed to pick up when his words escaped his lips. “What will you do if Sung Jinwoo finds you when I’m not around?”
Your eyes darted to his before you blinked and looked out the window, “I doubt it. Let’s just say I have a strong feeling that he’s making a mistake if he does come to me.” You smiled at Jong-In while your eyes seemed devoid of light. “I’ll just direct him to the right one.” You blinked and, like a switch, returned to normal. “Why the sudden question?”
A finger of his pointed behind you, “Because he’s coming in this direction and I don’t think it’s a coincidence.”
Note: First part out! This request has been sitting in my inbox for a while, sorry it took so long. As you could tell, I had other stories and stuff to do. But it's out! Thoughts, everyone?

・┆✦ Entry : 042 ✦ ┆・
╰┈➤ [ You really wanna do this?] ¡! ❞
Hunting had always been a dangerous job, but in your eyes? it's better than an average 9-5 job. You were never really the type to be locked in a simple place. You loved getting into gates just because they inspire you for your next creative projects— Minus the fact hat you have to help transport heavy mana crystals.
Better than nothing, it pays a lot and you get to spoil yourself with things you could only dream of as a child.
As the day comes into a close, your boss hands you your pay for the day and sends you off.
With the heavy envelope in your hands, you cheer happily and rush home where you can shower and dress properly
Despite the fact you're a weak hunter, you still can't help but dress prettily. You were sweating like a pig earlier, and now that you're clean and fresh you're wearing a frilly dress and a cardigan over your shoulders.
After making sure you're looking okay, it's off to the outside world you go.
Your childhood teddy bear made a comeback and you decided you wanted to buy the new big size for it.
The streets of seoul were so alive and crowded, but thankfully the air was extremely refreshing.
When the store finally came into view, you immediately jumped in excitement and dashed inside to where the shelf of the teddy bear was.
The yellow bear was given bigger sizes, and the one you picked is almost as big as your upper torso.
Are you complaining? No of course not! The reason why you worked so hard today is because you wanted this bear specifically.
After fangirling for a bit, you clear your throat and make your way to the cashier where the lady smiles at you politely and scanned the code.
Before you can even reach for your wallet to pay— A hand behind you shot up and offered the cashier a black card.
"I'll pay for the bear," The familiar, handsome voice says. "Please."
"Jinwoo!" You squeak, turning your head to see Jinwoo's familiar face who just threw you a charming smile.
"I told you that if you wanted something, just text me." Jinwoo says, ignoring the cashier who was clearly trembling and out of her wits as Jinwoo tapped his card on the scanner. "Is that so hard to obey, hm?"
"...How did you even find me" You pout.
"You wont shut up about the doll last night and I just so happen to know there's a plushie store nearby your apartment." Jinwoo ruffles your head, just as he always did ever since you two were little. "Come on, quit being a pouty little thing and walk with me"
Jinwoo takes your heavy plushie in his arm, taking your wrist with the other and guided you out of the store.
"H-hey, where are we even going?" You whine, but ultimately just gave in and followed behind Jinwoo.
The two of you walked for a while and eventually reached a relatively peaceful park.
Jinwoo starts chatting you up, asking about your day and how work went. And in turn, he told you about how boring his day is.
Yeah, must be nice to be a powerful hunter now, huh? Everything is relatively nboring for Jinwoo now because it's just so easy now.
"Stay here, I'll get us something to drink." Jinwoo says, handing the plushie to you.
⋅ ˚ ₊ ‧ ଳ ‧ ₊ ˚ ⋅ ⋆ ౨ৎ ˚ ⟡ ˖ ࣪
Jinwoo went to a nearby cornerstore, slightly humming to himself as he starts picking up a few snacks and drinks.
His mind was stuck on you, he is supposed to be doing something productive for today. But after Jinho heard that he was craving to visit you, the boy's face beamed immediately and pushed Jinwoo out of the ahjin guild— Practically kicking out of the building he owns himself and be off.
What was going on in Jinho's head at the time? He can never really know.
But he is thankful anyway, he had always been quite fond of you. Jinwoo has long since had a crush on you, but never once tried to court you. You two grew up together after all.
You probably think of him as your older brother figure.
While him?
Oh Darling,...
When he's with you, the grey skies would turn blue and brilliant. The air would feel even more fresh and lovely. Everything around you would suddenly be seen through rose-colored lenses.
Just as long as you were there, everything was beautiful.
He wanted to give you the world, he wanted to protect you, only him.
You were Jinwoo's salvation.
So long as you are there for him, he'll always come out as the strongest.
Everything is much bearable as long as he knows he would come back to earth greeted by your lovely smile and affections.
Jinwoo wanted nothing more than to protect your precious smile, make sure that tears won't ever threaten to touch that lovely and pretty smile of yours.
What is it that you want? Just tell him and it shall be yours.
Why would you be denied of your own happiness anyway? As long as he is there, you'll never be unhappy. You wont ever be sad.
He will make sure of that.
"..."
Jinwoo pauses in his tracks towards you, his grey eyes turning lilac immediately as he sees you chatting up another man.
He saw that person before in the eyes of his soldiers whom he placed in you. He was one of your colleagues who is acting a little too close with you sometimes.
That bastard is always hovering around you and was icking Jinwoo as of late.
And to dare even appear now when he is having his alone time with you?
Jinwoo's gaze hardened even more when the bastard tried reaching his hand up towards your face.
"Hey," Jinwoo's voice interrupts, immediately startling both you and the man into stopping what he was doing.
He fakes a polite smile, approaching with confident strides, "Ah, a coworker?"
"Mhm, he was passing by and decdied to greet me!" You cheer happily, failing to notice the ever slightly flicker of lilac in Jinwoo's grey eyes.
"Is that so?" Jinwoo hums, giving you the snacks and drink he bought you before reaching his hand up to offer it to the man. "I'm Jinwoo, her friend."
"J-Jinwoo?" The man paled as he shakily accepted his offerm and winced lightly when he felt Jinwoo's tight grip. "U-uhm..."
It was only a small squeeze, really, not enough to break his finger. No, not just yet.
Jinwoo's grey eyes would flicker into a different color, not that you can see so he isn't too worried. He was directly gazing at the man, his stare direct and straightforward.
It was a silent statement to back off.
A silent exchange between men, really.
That should be enough, right?
Jinwoo lets go of his hand and the bastard excuses himself, saying he needs to help his mom back home.
"You were smiling at him," Jinwoo says once the person was far away, his grey eyes coming back as it gazes upon your shorter stature beside him.
"Should I be grumpy then?"
"Pfft," He rolls his eyes, tapping on your nose lightly. "And what if I wanted you to?"
"Hahah, knock it off!" You lightly smack his hand away, making Jinwoo just shake his head in return.
⋅ ˚ ₊ ‧ ଳ ‧ ₊ ˚ ⋅ ⋆ ౨ৎ ˚ ⟡ ˖ ࣪
Jinwoo thought he already warned the bastard enough, wasn't that handshake enough?
he was just checking in on you really, when his shadows picked up the distant conversation of your coworkers saying that the same man should just start making a move on you.
He hasn't been hiding that foolish lovestruck look on his face after all.
Why waste any more time.
"Hahah..." The bastard sheepishly chuckles, scratching his cheek. "I'll ask her out in a bit"
A pit in Jinwoo's stomach dropped, and it wasn't a pleasant one. He was never the jealous type of person anymore after all. After becoming the shadow monarch and getting whatever he desired back then, he stopped yearning for unnecessary thing in exception for you whom he has been pining for forever.
Unlike his little jealousy back then, right now it's as blazing as the fires of hell. He was mad.
It's an unpleasant thing he is feeling.
That man? Really?
What can he do for you?
Fuck around and all?
He doesn't even look like he is willing to move mountains for you.
And if a monster suddenly appears what then? Will that vastard throw himself head first to guarantee your safety?
Can he ever even spoil you?
Will he stay loyal and never break your heart?
Will he never dare to look at another woman once he's yours?
Will he ever make sure you never cry?
It's making Jinwoo's head spin.
And before the bastard can even get your attention— He disappeared.
"..." Jinwoo's eyes would turn purple again, tapping his finger on his throne's arm as the man appeared before he completely startled.
"Wasn't my warning enough?"
"Hunter Sung?" The man trembles, collpasing on the floor as Jinwoo suddenly rose from his seating and approached. "Wait! I-I can explain!!"
"Explain what?" He snarled, his gaze completely cold and ruthless. "That you just attempted to make a move on my girl behind my back? I already shook your hand, wasn't that enough?"
"Please!" He begs, completely scared and about to piss himslef as Jinwoo wrapped his hand around his neck and lifted him up. "Hunter Sung, please!"
"I could kill you right now," Jinwoo tilts his head a bit, his blank look completely deranged. "Or maybe lock you up here in the land of eternal death, torture you, break your your mind, tear you limb by limb and put you back together,... Do you think I can't do any of this?"
"I-I'll stay away!" He cries out, "I-I have a family, my mom!..."
Jinwoo drops him, wiping his hand with a handkerchief as the bastard gasps for air.
"I-I wont touch her! N-no, I'll resign and find another job!" He begs. "Please, please don—"
"No need." Jinwoo scoffs. "Getting jobs these days is hard. If your mom needs you then keep the job,"
"But!—"
"Do you want me to change my mind?"
"No sir!"
Jinwoo gritted his teeth, if it weren;t for the fact this guy had his mom he would have kept him here. Instead, he just waved his hand and the bastard disappeared right before him.
He pace back and forth on the throne room for a while, taking a breather, trying to calm down. Nibbling on his nail even as he just felt so restless and pissed with no way of calming down.
Calming down?
Jinwoo fishes out his phone, it's 6:30 and you probably have clocked out by now.
He gets out of his domain and waited for you in the usual spot he wait in when you finish your shift.
"Jinwoo!" The sound of your voice echoes in his mind when you called out to him. "How come you're here?"
"I was bored" He lies, simply grinning. "Come."
"But I'm sweaty and icky!" You complain.
"Just for a bit, yeah?" He insists, and you in turn only pout.
"Alright, what is it?" You cross your arms.
"Free tomorrow?" He simply says.
"Well, yeah, I don't have a shift" You say. "how come?"
"I'm asking you out, duh" Jinwoo chuckles.
There was silence at first as you tried processing his words.
"Are you serious?" You blurt out, your face turning completely pink.
"Have I ever lied to you, hm?" He muses, leaning down to meet you at eye level.
"N-No, but... I mean..." You fidget, playing with your fingers. "You're an S-ranker.. And I'm... Well."
"I'm Jinwoo, jagiya" He simply says, making you look up at him.
And in those grey eyes is a tender and loving gaze, in those eyes you see that he is silently asking you to not look at him as the most sought after hunter. Not the most powerful man ever to live, not the man who turned his situation from helpless to this, not the man who was always mocked and now basks in the spotlight of fame and wealth— He was asking you to see him as a man who is courting you.
"Yes, you're..." You smile softly and leaned up with your tippy-toes, kissing his cheek gently. "My Jinwoo."
꒰ 🪼 A/N: When I tell you Ilove my monarch so much you don't understand. Jagiya can mean either= Honey or Baby heheh. I love him so much pls I wanna cri. Let me kiss him silly. And btw I'm no longer making the moodboard things because they're tiring and I don't wanna run out of photos to use! I hope u understand ueueueu!!! The Jinwoo cai requests will be up tomorrow that is a promise ꒱

p.s. i love your recent works! it’s all so cute and fluffy🥺 honestly been needing more fics of him😫
[ Req 3 ] A lesson. ✧. ┊ husband!jinwoo x civilian!wife!reader
A Korean plane landed at the airport. The reporters and hunters all turned their eyes to the plane, waiting for a certain famous Korean hunter to come out.
And when Sung Jinwoo stepped out, the hunters immediately felt his outstanding power. And even the German S-rank hunter had to back down because he felt hundreds of shadow soldiers in his shadow.
And then suddenly everyone noticed the small figure walking next to Jinwoo with his arm around her waist. They all knew that Ahjin had a vice-president named Jinho, but they didn't know who this person was. Looking at the way Jinwoo held her tightly and the way he looked down at her with gentle eyes, everyone could guess their relationship.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Seeing Jinwoo constantly turning his head as if he was searching for something, you turned around and asked.
"Husband? Are you looking for someone?"
"No. It’s just… why do those foreigners keep following me?"
Yoo Jinho laughed heartily.
"Hyung's so famous, you have a lot of fans. I bet they just want an autograph or two from you."
That made sense.
Jinwoo laughed and continued walking, not forgetting to pull you closer to him. He needed to make sure his wife wouldn’t get into any trouble.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
"Oh, there he is!"
"Sung Jinwoo!"
The reporters found him and began to shower him with questions. He didn't answer any, until someone asked.
"Hunter Sung! Who is the woman that beside you?"
He turned to the camera and narrowed his eyes.
"She is my wife. That's all you can be able to know, and stop asking anything about her."
SNAP-! SNAP-!
The camera flashed, over and over again. Woo Jinchul reached out to grab his sunglasses and put them on his face to avoid the flash. Seeing Jinchul fumble, you and Jinho looked at each other and smiled wickedly.
"Huh, what are you doing here??"
"I’m… responsible for Hunter Sung Jinwoo’s safety."
It was an answer that required a lot of courage. Unfortunately, the bustling atmosphere of the airport drowned out his voice. Whether it was intentional or not, Jinho picked his ear with his pinky finger and asked again.
"Excuse me, can you repeat that?"
"Whose safety are you responsible for?"
You and Jinho kept teasing Jinchul, making him blush, so Jinwoo stopped you two and pinched your cheeks, making you pout in displeasure. Then everyone was interrupted by Adams White's appearance. He said he would take you, Jinchul, and Jinho back to the hotel, while Sung Jinwoo would go somewhere else. At first, Jinwoo didn't agree with you and he separated, but you reassured him.
"It's okay, husband. I'll see you at the hotel."
He looked at you for a moment, then kissed you lightly on the lips.
"Be careful."
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
Jinwoo returned to the hotel in a bad mood. Now he just wanted to rush into his friend's arms to find comfort. But all he got from Jinchul was that his wife and Jinho had followed Hwang Dongsoo after hearing him say that Jinwoo was looking for both of them.
Anger filled Jinwoo. He immediately rushed out and ordered his soldiers.
"Immediately, find me the location of your queen and Jinho!"
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
“What are you thinking? Do you have something to say to me?” Jinho’s lips moved, but his voice was too small for Hwang Dongsoo to hear. “What?”
Hwang Dongsoo tilted his head, then brought his ear closer. Yoo Jinho then whispered into Hwang’s ear. “SON OF A B-TCH”
Hearing that, Hwang’s face darkened. Unable to hold back, he reached out and pressed Jinho’s head hard against the floor. Jinho passed out and collapsed. “Fck. Did I kill him?”
“Jinho!”, you shouted, “BASTARD”
“You’re that Sung Jinwoo’s little wife, right? Your face looks pretty, I’ll let you off if you tell me everything.”
You spat in his face. “Keep dreaming,” Hwang got angry, grabbed your hair, and kicked you in the stomach. “B-tch!” You fell to your knees in pain.
Suddenly a High Orc appeared, causing Hwang and his companions to look over. Just as Hwang was about to attack, he heard someone's voice ringing in the wind.
"Shadow Exchange."
The High Orc disappeared and Jinwoo appeared in its place. Seeing your husband, you immediately cheered with joy. When Jinwoo saw the image of you kneeling on the ground with messy hair and arms holding your stomach with Jinho lying motionless with a bloody head, his anger reached its peak. He quickly hugged you and examined you, when he saw the bruises on your body, he immediately wanted to kill someone.
He rushed to attack Hwang, and when Thomas came to stop him, he showed an indifferent attitude. He summoned Igris, Iron, and Kaisel, handed you and Jinho to two soldiers, and rushed into battle with Thomas.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
You woke up from a nap after being treated, you saw your beloved husband sitting beside the bed and holding your hand. Jinwoo saw you awake, he immediately asked.
"How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere?"
You smiled to reassure him. "I'm fine now."
He breathed a sigh of relief and lowered his head. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I shouldn't have left you alone, I should have brought you-"
You interrupted him. "Okay, it's over now, I don't blame you, don't apologize."
"But-"
"Shh, no buts. Instead of apologizing, why don't you go buy me something to eat? I'm hungry."
He smiled and kissed you on the lips. "Okay, I can't let my wife go hungry, right?"
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
"Woa, did you see the news?" "What's news?"
"Sung Jinwoo has defeat Hwang Dongsoo and Thomas Andrew!" "Really!? How did that happen?" "It seemed like they has messed with the wrong person. I heard that Hwang Dongsoo kidnapped Sung Jinwoo's wife and vice master of Ahjin."
"Serves them right, who told them to provoke first. Lesson learned is never touch Sung Jinwoo's people."
Need to reread the manhwa 'cause I don't remember the whole story. 😅

Part 1: The Awakening
His eyes opened. His sight was free of cataracts, blurriness, nor glaucoma.
His heartbeat was steady and strong. His brain was sharp and ready.
He raised his hands closer to his face. Deep wrinkles and saggy skin were no longer there. Instead, it was replaced by smooth skin and soft lines. He lied if he said he wasn't impressed.
The constant beeping noise coming from his many machines distracted him. He remembered it being so faint he could barely hear it. Has it always been this loud?
"Prof. Jeon, are you okay?" A man in his 40s rushed to his side.
The man called Prof. Jeon could've sworn he knew the voice of his assistant, but now he wasn't so sure. Has his voice always been this high pitched? And what was up with his assistant's graying unruly hair? Did he get here without brushing his hair?
"I'm fine," Prof. Jeon answered. His voice was strong and clear. No signs of aging.
Prof. Jeon broke into a huge grin before letting out a laugh. He did it. He was now stronger and better. Younger.
Prof. Jeon swung his leg to the side of the bed and sat up. The feeling of rushing blood to his brain was no longer there. And as he stood up, he didn’t need support nor walking canes. His body was perfect.
"Jinho, stop that." Prof. Jeon whacked away his assistant's hands that hovered around his torso, ready to catch him if he fell.
Not too far from where he stood, the shell of his old self laid perfectly still. Wrinkles and saggy skin decorated the body throughout. Grayed thinning hair brushed and gelled to absolute perfection, just like how he liked it. He might be over 80 years old, but fashion lived forever.
Prof. Jeon walked towards his old body. The body that resembled his late father. He shuddered with fear at the uncanny similarities. He was grateful for finally succeeding in defying what was once inevitable.
"Jinho, get rid of the body."
His eyes narrowed at the walking cane beside the body. The same cane that his late son had bought him years ago. And he didn't get the chance to revive him as his project hadn't been finished yet. He gritted his teeth as his mind wandered to his son.
He should've saved him, his research shouldn't have taken too long to finish. It shouldn't have taken 50 years. His son should've still been alive. He had failed. He was a failure before. Now he succeeded. He no longer had to bend to the physical boundaries of his body. He was now beyond biology, beyond weakness. And Y/n, his lovely wife, had to know first.
With eyes still on the cane, he ordered Jinho, "Make a glass box to preserve this cane. I'm going to see Y/n."
"You can't!" Jinho grabbed Prof. Jeon's arm. "We still need to run checks and see if you're okay."
Prof. Jeon frowned and shrugged off Jinho's hand. "I'm fine."
"Remember what happened to the kitten. We can't let that happen again."
Prof. Jeon's mind flashed to his previous test subject, a stray cat he found one day on his way home. The poor cat went deranged and ate everything in vicinity, including Prof. Jeon's calf that still had the scar and the limp.
"Fine," Prof. Jeon finally said. "How long should we wait?"
"We can run the medical checks now. I think we'll need to wait about a week or so, just to make sure."
"No. One day. I'm visiting Y/n tomorrow. She's already waiting for me."
Jinho let out an exasperated sigh. "Five."
"Two."
"Three."
"Fine. Three it is."
Part 2: The Encounter
Y/n was the top student in her class in university. And just like any other top students, everyone knew her, including Jungkook.
Jungkook was second to her in everything. In class, outside of class, in extracurricular activities, Y/n was the best and shadowed him. Despite that, he didn't resent her. Instead, he was fascinated.
He would follow her everywhere. If Y/n joined the volley club, then he was in it. If Y/n was in the theater club, then Jungkook would join. But during all of those many close encounters, not even once had Y/n spoken to him. It was as if he was invisible to Y/n. Until an opportunity struck that left Jungkook no choice.
“So, are you sure you want to run with Y/n?” asked the theater club's current president. He was a typical jock with dyed blonde hair and cocky smile. A smile that Jungkook had initially underestimated. After all, it was weird for a jock to be joining a theater club, but it was weirder when said jock became the club’s president.
“Can’t I?”
“You can. But you never talk to her, don’t you?”
“Yeah. Is that a problem?”
“Well, no. But we still don’t know whether Y/n and you would be a good match to run as president and vice president next.”
Jungkook had to change his strategy. “Then, do you have someone in mind that might be a better candidate to run as her vice?”
“I do.”
“Say the name,” Jungkook asked through his gritted teeth.
“Park Seyeon.”
Jungkook bursted a laugh. “Her? She’s too soft spoken!”
“Y/n and Seyeon have been working together on multiple projects and they smash them. I mean, weren’t you like in one of their projects?”
Jungkook bitterly snorted. “As a tree.”
“See. You don’t have enough experience to be a vice president.” The president leaned forward and whispered, “And I don’t think you have the talent, unlike Y/n.”
As if Jungkook was possessed by a demon, his eyes saw red and he growled, “You make it work or else.”
Needless to say, weeks later Y/n and Jungkook were announced as the next president and vice president for the following year.
Part 3: The Visit
The hospital floor was still wet, a warning sign was put in the middle to ward people off the way, but Professor Jeon didn’t care. He had been a long-time financial donor of the hospital for all he knew.
Y/n's room was located at the top most floor of the hospital. It was secluded yet luxurious complete with its own elevator which kind of reminded him of their own penthouse. Prof. Jeon had smiled in satisfaction when he knew his lovely wife would be put in the best room the hospital had.
Inside the room, it looked much like a hotel. It had everything a person would want. A kitchen; a living room; two bedrooms, one for the patient and the other for the family. There was even a bathtub in one of the two bathrooms. It was as if the patient and their family were on vacation instead of being in a hospital.
Upon seeing crumpled paper on the coffee table in the living room, Prof. Jeon made a mental note to ask the cleaning service to clean the room.
"Y/n? Are you up?" he said after knocking on the master bedroom.
"Yes. Come on in." The familiar weak voice of Y/n's could be heard.
He knew Y/n didn't have much time. She was getting weaker and weaker and he had to act fast. So he opened the door.
The first thing Prof. Jeon noticed was Y/n's wide-eyes when she realized what she saw.
After what felt like eternity, Y/n finally asked, "Jungkook?"
Jeon Jungkook broke into a grin. He knew his wife would recognize him. After all, he looked like the Jungkook Y/n loved the most, mid to late 20s Jungkook.
"It's me. I did it." Jungkook walked to the side of the bed and held her wrinkly hand. He took note that she couldn't grip his hand back. She was running out of time. "I'm sorry I took so long."
"I thought it failed."
"Well, I fixed it. I perfected it. It won't fail again," Jungkook reassured mostly to himself.
A smile broke in Y/n face. The same smile Jungkook fell in love with. "You're always smart like that."
"Because of you." Then he traced with his eyes the oxygen tube that was running from her nostrils to the oxygen tank behind the bed. "How have you felt these past few days? I'm sorry I couldn't come straight after the transfer was done. Jinho didn't let me."
"I'm fine. The nurses are kind. Some are new, though." Knowing Jungkook too well, Y/n continued, "Did you do something about it?"
Thinking it would be better to lie, he shook his head. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Weird," Y/n mumbled to herself.
Jungkook shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe the old ones were fired. But that's not important. What's important is, you can finally go home!"
This was the second time Y/n's eyes widened in surprise.
"Really? How? I'm still far from cured, though."
Then Jungkook broke the news to her. "I want to transfer you, too. Do you trust me?"
The smile on Y/n's face faltered. "I don't want that, babe. I just want to die peacefully."
Unknowingly, Jungkook's grip on Y/n tightened to the point Y/n grimaced.
"Sorry." Jungkook let go of her. His hand gripped the bed railing instead. "But I can't let that happen."
"Why?"
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows. What could Y/n possibly mean by 'why'? Couldn't she see that he was trying to save her? All of this he did for her, including the sacrifice of the cat.
"What do you mean? Don't want to be with me?"
"Of course I do. But we've had more than 50 years together. I'd rather reminisce about our moments together."
"We can do that in our new bodies!"
Y/n sighed. "True. But I still don't think it's fair."
"What?"
"It feels like you're playing God, you know. Your technology is still too early to be used frequently on humans."
"I'm not going to use this frequently. Just twice. Me, and now you."
"Jungkook." Y/n's voice was weaker than usual. Probably from being too tired to argue with him.
"Please." He became desperate. He didn't want to hear Y/n's last time calling his name. "Let me try. Then I'll let you go."
Quiet followed. It was so thick Jungkook didn't dare to cut it. He knew the gears in Y/n's brain were working harder than usual just for him. For them.
"I-" Y/n hesitated.
"Do it for us?" Jungkook pleaded.
"For us."
Part 4: The Interaction
One thing Jungkook noticed right away when he became the vice president was that being the vice president didn't mean he had a free pass to talk to Y/n as much as he liked. Y/n was still herself. Busy studying, socializing, going to the gym, then studying again, socializing again, going to the gym again, before taking care of the club she led. Her time was divided between many activities that Jungkook didn't even get the chance to casually talk to her.
And when she was organizing the club, Jungkook still couldn't catch a break with her. Jungkook always had to arrange the club's next project, take care of the new members, make plans for the next meeting, and so on.
"Jungkook," Y/n stopped him just as he was about to go print the timetable he had made. Jungkook really hoped the next words she said consisted of something along the lines of 'let's talk' or 'let's hang out' or 'are you doing okay?' But what came out was just like anything he had gotten too used to hearing. "Can you help the new members with our new play? The performance is getting closer and I don't think they're anywhere finished. Seyeon already did everything and she thought maybe you can help her."
That was the thing about Y/n that Jungkook just couldn't wrap his head around. Why did it seem like she was adamant of making him work as far as possible from her? He was sure he had already taken a bath and put on his best fit. He had also sprayed his most expensive perfume on. He even put on his damned glasses that he hated so much just because he knew you liked smart guys. But of course Jungkook wasn't raised to give up so easily.
"What if we help her together? I think if the three of us work together, it will be faster," he finally said.
Y/n tapped the pen she was holding to her chin before shrugging and nodding. "Yeah, why not. I'm actually working on a project proposal, but I'm stuck anyway.
Upon hearing Y/n's agreement, Jungkook held in his smile. Now he just needed to find a way to get rid of Seyeon and they could finally work together for the first time ever.
Lucky for him, not even 10 minutes into the three of them working together, Seyeon had to go to a class that she had completely forgotten. Jungkook just couldn't suppress a smile forming on his lips. Maybe lady luck was on his side today.
That same day, Jungkook got to tick off a lot on his wishlist. He got a smile from Y/n, got to hold Y/n's hand, got close enough to smell Y/n's aquatic smell of perfume, and even got a compliment from Y/n just after the practice ended.
"Hey, Jungkook," Y/n called. "Nice glasses you have."
Part 5: The Beginning
"We can't let Mrs. Jeon home just yet. Her condition is still unstable." The doctor snaked his stethoscope around his neck after checking on Y/n. "And, do you happen to know why Prof. Jeon is not coming today?"
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows. "Why? He's resting at home. Am I not enough? I'm her grandson." The lie slipped out of his lips like he had practiced it.
The doctor looked taken aback by Jungkook's defensive stance. "It's fine. But usually, Prof. Jeon himself takes care of this."
"Well, now I'm the one taking care of my mom. Is it wrong?"
The doctor pursed his lips before answering, "Nope. Of course not."
"I thought so. And I still want to bring her home."
"Sir, her condition is unstable. You can't-"
"I can. What do I need to sign?"
"Sir-" the doctor tried to persuade Jungkook again, but what really made him stop was the abrupt grasp on his arm.
Jungkook turned to Y/n who held his arm. It came as a surprise to see her holding something after days of her not being able to. But Jungkook had something else at hand. "Y/n- mom, what's wrong?"
"Let's just talk about it first. Just the two of us," Y/n answered.
"We already did that, didn't we?"
"But the doctor says-"
"The doctor is not a professor, unlike I am- I mean, dad. He doesn't know what he's talking about."
"Don't you maybe want to listen to his explanation?"
"He did enough already."
The grip Y/n's had on Jungkook loosened before she finally let go of his hand. "Okay, then. Let's go home."
'Home' was not actually the home Y/n had imagined it to be. Jungkook knew that, but they had no time to be exploring their actual home.
"Why are we in your lab?" Y/n asked as Jungkook stuck some electrodes on her head. Jungkook already laid her down on the mattress right after they entered the lab.
"We should start uploading your mind to the computer."
"Will it hurt?"
Jungkook shook his head. "This is just to make sure that everything on your mind is uploaded right to the last seconds before your death. It doesn't hurt and that doesn't mean you'll pass away once we initiate the upload. You can live a somewhat normal life."
"That can't wait until I see our penthouse?"
"I'm afraid not."
Y/n pouted in response. The same pout that Jungkook had always thought cute. He couldn't help but to peck her lips.
"It'll be over soon and we'll be together forever," Jungkook reassured. "If you feel tired, you can sleep. I'll always be here."
Jungkook went over to Jinho who was tapping away on one of the screens. "Start now."
"Prof, are you sure this is safe? We don't do two transfers in a month. I'm afraid what happened to the cat will happen again."
Jungkook dismissed him with a wave of his hand. "It's fine. I know what we did wrong with the cat. It won't happen again. Go."
Jinho exhaled before doing what Jungkook had told him to do.
The machine whirred awake in response to Jinho's touch, the same sound that both Jungkook and Jinho had gotten used to. The sound of their hopes and dreams, which was not just theirs but also the entire humanity's.
Jungkook waited out until the machine's loud whirs turned into a low stable hum before walking back to where his wife laid down. He brushed some strands of white hair away from Y/n's forehead. "This doesn't feel so much different from the hospital, right? The main difference is just that the bed is so much nicer here."
Y/n chuckled. "Yes. You're always meticulous when it comes to comfort."
"I know,” Jungkook said proudly. “Now, what do you want to eat?”
Part 6: The Date
Jungkook would still call it a date even if Y/n kept insisting that it was just a favor. It indeed started as a favor, but it quickly snowballed into an adventure slash mission slash objective that they had to do together, just the two of them, just like a date.
It started out funny, as per Jungkook’s standards. One night, he was just in front of the TV as usual, mindlessly hearing the loud obnoxious sound of the TV as his hands scrolled on his phone, looking for some content on social media that could stimulate his brain. But of course nothing was as exciting as a notification from Y/n.
Jungkook? Are you still up?
Jungkook sat up straight from slouching on the couch. I'm up. Why?
Three small dots appeared on the screen. Jungkook waited what seemed like forever until the three dots were replaced by Y/n's text. Can you help me?
With what?
I just realized my book is missing. Did you see where I put my notebook during the club's meeting? I think I left it in the theater club's room, but I'm not sure.
The first long text from Y/n and Jungkook's mind already wandered to a few hours ago when they were still practicing. There was only one way to find out. I'll pick you up in 10, we'll check the room ourselves.
And that was how they ended up in the dark inside their campus.
“Isn't this considered trespassing?” Y/n whispered loud enough for Jungkook to hear her. The moon shone brightly on their faces, magnifying the worry evident on her face.
Jungkook was walking two or three steps in front of her. His steps were sure and definitive from how frequent he already did this. But that was an information he intended to keep until at least they were close enough to be sharing each other's secret.
“Relax. The security doesn’t usually go this far. They only do rounds near the gates. Talk about cowards,” Jungkook said in a mocking tone.
"But we're not supposed to be on campus in the middle of the night. What if we get caught?"
"We won't." He really wanted to tell Y/n about how often he did this, but his faith in delayed gratification was bigger. "We'll just go grab your book and leave. Now come." Jungkook walked towards the theater club's room, the place where the club did their meetings.
"Jungkook, I don't think we should." Y/n's voice was small and unsure.
Having enough of her uncertainty, Jungkook grabbed Y/n's hand, feeling her smooth slender fingers on his hand, before pulling her to come with him.
"Jungkook!" Y/n half-yelled in surprise.
"We need to be quick," was the only thing he said as he opened the door to the theater club's room. "Now, where's your book?"
As Jungkook asked her, Y/n already entered the room and was on her way to a bookshelf opposite of the door. From the doorstep, Jungkook only watched how Y/n long legs carried her, steps swift and glided smoothly. Her hair flowed with each movement, the humidity did nothing to ruin her silky hair. Her hands moved gracefully like every move had been calculated.
She swiftly grabbed the book and said, "Let's go. I don't want to be here any longer."
Despite Y/n kept saying she didn't want to sneak into campus at night, Jungkook could see the twinkle in her eyes as she looked at him. The twinkle of someone who never experienced an adrenaline rush. The twinkle of someone who finally got a taste of adrenaline rush and became drunk on it.
Jungkook smirked. "Let's go. I'll take you to more adventures in the future."
Part 7: The Memory
The room felt colder than usual as if the air conditioning had been working overtime even though Jungkook had already put it on its lowest setting. The weather was indeed cooling down as the season slowly transitioned into winter. Y/n's hands in Jungkook's grasp were equally as cold.
Y/n had complained that she was freezing, saying, "You should turn on the heater, babe."
But Jungkook had refused, "No. The computers are already generating heat, if I turn on the heater, the room will be boiling hot."
It was an exaggeration from Jungkook's part, but it was true that all the whirrings, the clackings, and the hummings of the machines produced enough heat to warm the room. It was only Y/n's fragile and weak body that was screaming cold. And that was how Jungkook initiatively sat beside Y/n and grasped her hands in his.
Out of nowhere, Y/n chuckled. “Not going to lie, this kind of reminds me of the time when you asked me out. Do you still remember?”
Jungkook’s mind wandered to the moment they were huddled exactly like what they did now. With their hands clasped together and them sitting close to each other, trying to absorb the warmth from the other.
That time they were in the middle of nowhere, in a forest God only knew who owned the land, for a reason that still couldn’t be comprehended until now. According to Y/n, it was a yearly activity for team building since they were going to have to work together for at least the following year.
“We were camping!” Y/n said. “And you were grumpy.”
Jungkook shrugged, his hand hovered over the electrode on Y/n’s head. He hoped all the memories they had made together would all be uploaded on the computer with nothing left out. He wouldn’t want to talk to an empty body after all. The uploading must be successful, if not- Well, he had no space for errors. He had to succeed.
“I still think it’s stupid. But I have to admit that I owe Seyeon from that moment onwards,” Jungkook answered.
Y/n laughed. “You still feel that?”
“Of course! She gave me a reason to get close to you and ask you out.”
“I guess that’s true. She somehow had forgotten to bring some warm clothes.”
“And you-” Jungkook booped Y/n’s nose. “-had to be the angel you always were and lend yours to her.”
“What do you expect me to do?! I can’t let her freeze to death.” Y/n then grimaced. “Sorry. I forgot for a moment that she died a couple years ago from hypothermia.”
“Yes, you can’t let her freeze. And I can’t let you freeze.”
“So you hugged me the rest of the night.” Y/n laughed before coughing.
“And asked you out. I thought, we were already that close, why don’t we just be a thing, right?”
“I thought so, too! That’s why I said yes without even thinking.”
Jungkook cackled. “We literally are made for each other.”
“We are.” Y/n leaned her head on Jungkook’s shoulder and closed her eyes in content.
Part 8: The Kiss
To be quite honest, Jungkook didn't care about congratulatory dinners and this one was no exception. But the sparkle in Y/n's eyes when she realized the club had enough funds for a get-together made it hard for Jungkook to resist.
"We should celebrate because next week the club will have a new president and vice president," Y/n said. "And also, we should celebrate this year's success."
The rest of the club cheered, including Seyeon who stood on the left side of Y/n. It was safe to say that Seyeon became some sort of Y/n's confidant for the last year she was president. Jungkook didn't mind though, because at the end of the day, it was him who Y/n ran to.
"What should we do? Should we go camping again?" a boy said. In which Jungkook, who stood on the right side of Y/n, responded by rolling his eyes.
"No more camping," he answered.
"What about we go to the beach?" another suggested.
On the corner of his eyes, Jungkook could see that Y/n was tilting her head to the side, indicating she was mulling over it. "We can. But I was thinking of something not related to nature. Something accessible to all of us."
The room suddenly roared as some suggestions such as 'arcade', 'carnival', 'movies' were thrown into the air. Jungkook couldn't deny that he was interested in the last one.
"The movies," Jungkook whispered to Y/n.
Y/n nodded in acknowledgement. "I think so, too."
"Guys," Y/n spoke out loud. The room fell silent. "What if we go to the movies? I think I heard some of you guys want to go to the movies."
A series of cheers and 'yeah's could be heard.
"When though?" a girl whose name Jungkook didn't know asked.
"What about this weekend? For those who can't come, we'll send hampers. That way, it'll be fair for everyone," Y/n suggested.
Jungkook felt like his head could float anytime as he heard Y/n leading the club. Y/n was such a natural leader and he cherished every moment he could see her in action. No doubt the members also felt the same. Felt the adoration and belonging in the group since Y/n always put the group first before herself. Never left out a member for whatever reason. And Jungkook was the luckiest man to be able to call Y/n his.
"Jungkook." Y/n's familiar voice woke Jungkook from his daydream.
"Yeah?" Jungkook's eyes focused on Y/n's.
"Can you come? Seyeon wants to list those who can and can't come."
"Of course I'll come. Do you need a ride? I can pick you up."
"I'm thinking of going with Seyeon."
Jungkook almost missed the wink and the smirk on Y/n's face, indicating she was just testing his response. He decided to play along.
Jungkook frowned. The corner of his lips were turned downwards. “Why?”
Y/n laughed. “No reason. I just want to hang out with my best friend.”
“You can do that anytime.”
“You know I can’t. We always go out together on weekends.” Amusement was evident on her face.
Then an idea popped into his head. “How about you go there with me, but then you sit through the whole movie with her? Or vice versa?”
“You know you will sit on my other side no matter what. I’ll go there with Seyeon, then on the way home, I’ll go with you.”
“Deal.”
Y/n shook her head in disbelief. “Why are you so adamant on me going with you?”
Jungkook winked. “You’ll see.”
Weekend came faster than Jungkook had anticipated. He wasn’t one to like weekends, because it usually meant Y/n was too busy with her family or friends to go out with him. But this weekend was different, the theater club was hanging out and Jungkook wasn’t excluded. It was safe to say he had high hopes for this weekend. He just needed to find the right timing.
Throughout the entire movie, Jungkook couldn't focus. Y/n today absolutely looked stunning, like she was dressing to impress and Jungkook was her target. If that was indeed her goal, Jungkook had to admit she was successful. So Jungkook did what he had so long refrained from doing.
In a very casual way, or at least he was trying to, Jungkook pretended to stretch his left arm out across Y/n's seat and landed it on her backrest. His slender fingers twirled on Y/n's stray hair.
Seemingly feeling something, or rather someone, had touched her hair, Y/n whacked her hand around her neck which in turn smacked on Jungkook’s hand. Lucky him, the sound of the movie was loud enough to drown the sound of their hands smacking against each other. Jungkook pulled his hand from around Y/n’s shoulder.
“Jungkook!” Y/n hissed. “Stop it.”
“I’m bored. Let’s do something else.”
“No. Stay put.”
“No. Let’s go. I have something cool to show you. I’ll walk out in a bit, and you follow me next.”
“Why should I?”
“Just do it. Tell Seyeon you’re not feeling good or something.”
"What? No!" Y/n pushed lightly on Jungkook's arm. "Just go. I'll make an excuse."
Outside of the theater building, Jungkook leaned on a pillar with his jacket in one hand and his car key in the other. He eyed the couple walking into the building, the boy's arm slung comfortably around the girl's shoulder, quite similar to what Jungkook was trying to do just moments ago.
"Okay. What now?" Y/n's voice made him avert his gaze away from them and towards his own girlfriend.
Jungkook reached for Y/n's hand and linked their hands together. "Let's go inside my car."
"Why?" Y/n raised an eyebrow. "You've been super suspicious today. I don't want to do something we'll regret."
"You won't regret it, I promise." Jungkook began to pull on Y/n's hand which made her reluctantly follow him.
"What is it, then?" Y/n closed the car door once she was seated inside.
Without needing to answer with words, Jungkook leaned in and touched Y/n's lips with his own.
Y/n's lips were much softer than Jungkook had imagined. He thought it would feel more like a cushion, but instead it was closer to a marshmallow. Plump but soft with a hint of strawberry flavor from her lip balm.
At first Y/n was taken aback. Her eyes wide and lips parted, unmoving. Her eyes met with his awkwardly which made him take a hold of her hand and squeezed it gently, signaling her to not be nervous. Telling her wordlessly to enjoy it.
Y/n slowly closed her eyes and relaxed her muscles. Her lips started to move in response to his, dancing unchoreographed moves.
Despite the lack of experience, a sense of longing and wanting washed over Jungkook. He didn't want to stop. He wanted time to stay still. But of course that didn't happen.
Y/n pulled slowly from the kiss, a string of saliva connecting their lips for a slight moment.
With hazy eyes, Y/n said breathlessly, "So that's what you want to show me."
Jungkook nodded. The feel of Y/n's lips still lingered on his. "I've been wanting to do that with you for the longest time." Jungkook touched his lips where Y/n's were just seconds ago, his lips slightly numb from the kiss. "It feels better than what I imagined."
Y/n hummed and leaned back on her seat. Her eyes closed, as if she was trying to preserve the moment and the feeling.
Jungkook couldn't deny that Y/n looked absolutely irresistible. Her half up hair showed a bit of her neck, the collar of her shirt low enough for him to catch a glimpse of her chest. Y/n wore a different perfume that Jungkook liked even more, one that smelled floral instead of the aquatic one that Y/n often wore. He was definitely sure Y/n was trying to impress her.
And as easy as that, he blurted out, "I love you."
For a split moment, he thought Y/n didn't hear him. Maybe she had already fallen asleep, maybe she was too deep in her own thoughts. But then, Y/n opened her mouth. As faint as the sound of the night wind, but clearer than the sky on a sunny day, he could hear her say, "I love you, too."
Part 9: The Desperation
The past few days had been hard on Jungkook, and he could bet all his fortunes that it was significantly harder for Y/n. Y/n’s condition had deteriorated far worse in the last couple of days compared to all the years she spent in and out of the hospital. Her condition fluctuated so rapidly that it was hard for Jungkook to be sure when she was okay and when she was almost literally on her deathbed.
One day, Y/n still could sit up on her bed, of course with the help of Jungkook, and also Jinho sometimes. But the next day, Y/n screamed and trashed on her bed, hand gripped on Jungkook's arm for dear life, it looked like the grim reaper himself was sucking her life out of her.
Some days Y/n could ramble on and on about her hobby of acting, about how she still had a lot to experience in life, about how she hoped she could be cured and go on adventures again with Jungkook. Some days she couldn't even recognize him, claiming that he was too young to be her husband, saying that he could be her grandson with how young he was, then proceeding to cry because she had lost his son too early.
One day Y/n still could joke around with Jungkook and Jinho and the next she was unresponsive, not even when Jungkook pinched her so hard it left a bluish bruise on her arm. And with each passing day, as her condition got more and more unstable, Jungkook grew more and more desperate. It felt like any day could be her last day. So on one of the good days, Jungkook pulled Jinho outside the lab to have a chat.
"I think we need to start the transfer," Jungkook blurted out.
"What? Why? You know what should happen before that, right?"
Jungkook nodded. "I've calculated everything. Today her condition is a bit better, I think I can coerce her into agreeing to this."
Jinho's eyes went wide. "But it'll cost her life!"
"That'll be moved to her new body," Jungkook pointed out.
It felt like a year when it actually was just a few seconds before Jinho said, "I'll go prepare her new body. You can start the euthanasia once she's ready."
Upon hearing Jinho's answer, Jungkook walked back into the lab and went straight to Y/n. Just like during all of her good days, she usually just sat in front of the TV and watched any movie Jungkook deemed good to watch. She probably would want to be able to pick her own movies to watch, but lately her fingers were too stiff to be able to operate the remote control and ended up let Jungkook help her with whatever she needed.
Jungkook took a seat beside Y/n and brushed his hand through her white hair. "Baby, I want to talk about something." He reached for the remote and paused the movie.
"What is it?" Y/n's eyes focused on him.
Jungkook decided to drop the bomb although how she looked at him made his heart quench. "Your health has been getting worse and worse, I think we need to start the mind-transfer."
Y/n nodded. "Just do whatever you need to do. I trust you."
"Really?"
"I trust you. I have to admit I don't understand anything about your technology and I'm kind of scared, but I trust you." Y/n took Jungkook's hand and held it on her lap.
"Y/n."
"Yes?"
Jungkook's vision blurred from his own tears. "I love you so much you have no idea."
"Why are you crying?" Y/n, always sweet as ever, wiped his tears with the pad of her thumb. Her movement wasn't precise, she almost poked him in the eye, but at least she caught some tears. "I love you, too."
"I just can't imagine how much you are in pain right now. I'll do everything I can to make you feel better."
"I know."
"But I'll have to perform euthanasia on you. Only after that I can transfer your soul and mind to your new body."
"It's okay. How long will the process be?"
"I-"
Jinho cut him off. "After the euthanasia, your mind will be transferred right away. The process took less than 12 hours last time."
"It'll feel like you're falling asleep. Zero pain," Jungkook added.
"I'll go get the machine started. The medicine is ready." Jinho walked back to his workstation behind the many computers.
"Let's go back to your bed, shall we?" Jungkook helped Y/n stand up from the couch.
Once Y/n laid down on the bed, Jungkook made sure she was feeling comfortable.
"How are you feeling?" Jungkook grasped her hand in his.
"Nervous."
Jungkook turned his head towards Jinho. "Vitals?"
"All good. Only the heartbeat is slowing down from the last few days, but we'll make it work."
Jungkook looked back at his lover. "You'll be fine. We'll be just like we were during our youth."
A small smile creeped up on her face. "Yeah. Let's meet again in a better condition."
Jungkook pecked Y/n one last time on her old body. "Of course. See you."
"See you."
With that, Jungkook released the medicine straight into her IV bag, waiting for it to slowly enter her bloodstream.
"This should work," Jungkook mumbled to himself as he saw Y/n slowly closing her eyes and falling to her eternal sleep.
Part 10: The Fight
It was a very nice place. It cost Jungkook a lot of his fortune just to book a table for two. The ambient light played with the shimmer on Y/n's dark blue dress, making it sparkle like ripples on a deep lake during a full moon. Jazz music was played by a band on the small stage in the middle of the restaurant. It was perfect.
"How did you know this place anyways?" Y/n's asked, her hands busy with the cutleries to cut her steak.
Jungkook shrugged. He tried to be nonchalant, hiding the fact that he was actively looking for a luxurious restaurant just days ago. "Saw the ads on social media."
"I bet it's very expensive."
His wallet felt bulkier in his pocket. "Yeah, but I'd do anything to make you happy."
Y/n gleefully smiled. "I know. Thanks a lot for this. Work has been stressing me out these days."
"Oh, yeah?"
Y/n nodded, her eyes sparkled under the dim light. "You can't believe it when I say some of our samples got leaked. Luckily the samples aren't dangerous, but we still needed to take precautions." She continued with her rambles of what steps she took to fix the problem, seemingly already having forgotten about the steak in front of her.
Jungkook knew secondhand how hard it was for Y/n to build her own career. Although she was one of the smartest people he knew, it was a well known fact that the bioengineering field was a competitive one. And Y/n wasn't susceptible.
She ended up working for a local branch of a big multimillion company as an intern. The pay wasn't big, it was barely enough for her daily necessities with all luxury left behind. Meanwhile, Jungkook had found himself working as his own father's right hand. Although his father's company wasn't as big, his position made him get paid significantly more than Y/n.
Jungkook had said one day, "Just quit your job. I can provide for you."
But Y/n had been stubborn as she always was. "It's Syntegra. A company where people can only dream of working at. I'm not going anywhere."
Luckily, she had been right with her choice. Her perseverance and determination soon paid off as she climbed up the corporate ladder. Her 1-year internship ended with her finally being hired as a full-time staff member. And after that, her career only soared higher and higher.
Y/n became a supervisor after working full-time for 6 months and became a manager after another 6. Not long after, the position for branch manager opened up as the old one retired. It was wise to pick Y/n to take over the spot. And of course as the branch manager, the highest position in said local branch, she had responsibilities beyond her own experience.
It was an understatement to say that Jungkook was proud of her. After all, Jungkook had seen secondhand Y/n working long hours even before she got accepted as a full-time staff member. He had seen Y/n sacrificing her free time, even her weekends, to continue her studies since branch managers at Syntegra needed to have a master's degree. But it also wasn't hard to deny that Jungkook missed her. He missed the sleepless nights they spent together. He missed going to the movies together. He missed having dinner together. He had hoped that tonight would finally be different. That tonight they could focus on them. But Jungkook could only hope.
"Shoot!" Y/n's profanity woke Jungkook from his daydream. Y/n typed rapidly to her phone which dinged endlessly.
Jungkook noticed the lines on Y/n's forehead. Something wrong must have happened. "What's wrong?"
"I need to get back to the office," Y/n replied without ever looking up from her phone.
"It's Sunday. Tomorrow morning you'll be there."
"Yes. I know. But apparently there's a virus that attacked one of the servers and messed up our systems."
Jungkook cringed. "That sounds bad."
"It is." Y/n finally looked up from her phone. With pleading eyes, she continued, "Can you please drop me off at Syntegra?"
Jungkook felt his heart sink. He couldn't believe his ears. He didn't want to accept that his date had to end so soon. He didn't even get to finish his steak!
Just as he was about to refuse her, another emotion bubbled inside him. It was hot, it made him sweat in the cold air conditioned room. It was dizzying, making him unable to think straight. But above all, it was intense. A force to be reckoned with.
And amidst that bubbling emotion, he said something he would regret. "You have no time for me anymore."
Y/n dropped her shoulders as she stared at Jungkook pleadingly. "Please, I don't have time for this. If you can't drop me there, I can go there myself."
As she was about to stand up from her seat, Jungkook reached out and grabbed her hand, ultimately stopping her from walking off. "I'll go pay, you wait outside." If he wanted to let his ego win, he had to find the perfect timing.
The entire car ride to Syntegra was only filled with deafening silence. Jungkook didn't dare to speak a single word as Y/n emitting an intimidating aura. From the corner of his eyes, he could see Y/n was clutching her purse. Her face tense and jaw clenched. Her eyes stared at the road ahead, but made no comment even when someone was jaywalking in front of the car. And when the car pulled up in front of the main entrance, Y/n only stepped off silently.
Y/n was about to slam the car door shut when Jungkook dared himself to speak. "Baby, I'll wait here, yeah? Take your time."
He could bet all of his fortunes that he saw Y/n pull a tight smile before closing the door.
It was only an hour later that Y/n came back to the car. Her sparkly dress was replaced by a t-shirt and her heels by a flip flop. Jungkook was about to make a comment about that when Y/n beat him to it. "I have spare clothes and sandals for these types of occasions."
Y/n turned her body facing Jungkook. "So you were saying at the restaurant? That I have no time for you anymore?" Her tone stern as if she was talking to her subordinate or a child instead of her boyfriend.
Honestly speaking, Jungkook himself had already forgotten about that. His mind was still fixated on the TikTok video he just watched right before Y/n stepped into the car.
"You should think yourself lucky that you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth. No need to worry about making money or career for yourself," Y/n rambled even when Jungkook just quietly started the car engine and drove out the building.
Jungkook couldn't lie that Y/n's rambles eventually got to him. "Out of all the weekends and the holidays we could've spent together, you instead preferred to be stuck at work. I've prepared countless dates and dinners and vacations, yet all of them fell through. We didn't even get to fully enjoy today's dinner!"
"Oh, yeah? This is exactly what I mean. You never have to worry about bills and rent. Never have to think about saving for the future. You already have everything! The least you can do is let me be."
"I can provide you!" Jungkook realized he just half-yelled to the girl he loved. "I was meaning to take our relationship to the next stage. But of course, your work always gets in the way."
"Arrgh," Y/n yelled. "I don't want to just rely on you! Why don't you get it? Sure it's easy to just let you pay for everything. But does that make me feel any better? No!"
Jungkook snorted. "You and your ego. You should maybe sort that out instead of your money situation."
"And you with your savior complex. You know what? Let's take a break. I don't want this anymore." Y/n clutched her purse. "Drop me off here."
"Are you crazy?" Jungkook didn't slow down the car. "We're in the middle of the road! I'm dropping you home. And then you should think about your decision."
The rest of the car ride felt freezing cold. But true to his words, Jungkook dropped Y/n off at her house. Wordlessly, Y/n stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut without taking a glance both at the car and him. Jungkook watched and waited as Y/n stormed inside her house. And once he was sure she was already safe inside her house, he left. Maybe this was for the best, but honestly speaking, his chest tightened and tears threatened to fall.

Solo Leveling AU Ideas
Just random ideas that I haven't really expanded too much on yet
Shadow Monarch!Park Kyung-Hye AU: Park Kyung-Hye awakens as an E-Rank hunter instead of Sung Jinwoo and is the one who ends up in the double dungeon. (It's mostly just her being a mother to everyone around her. Would probably end up adopting a lot of hunters along the way-)
Choibaek Beauty and the Beast AU: Baek Yoonho as the Beast, Choi Jongin as Belle, Cha Haein as Belle's family member, Hwang Dongsoo as Gaston (Jongin being scared? No, Jongin just straight up calls Yoonho ugly to his face-)
Pirate!Thomas Andre x Mermaid!Lennart Niermann AU: Lennart as a mermaid seems cute. Disney princess vibes. That's about it actually.
Chulwoo Princess and the Frog AU: Jinchul as the prince and Jinwoo as the frog (seems in character for them as far as I know-) Can you tell I used to be a Disney fan?
College Roommates AU (platonic pairs):
- Baek Yoonho and Min Byung-gyu (listen, I just want them to be happy, together, and alive-) - Lee Juhee and Cha Haein (they'd have such a cute relationship) - Thomas Andre and Christopher Reed (I'd like more interactions between them) - Sung Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho (You know that meme where one roommate wakes up at 5:30, and the other goes to bed at 5:30? That's them) - Park Heejin and Jung Yerim (also seems cute)
I may have gotten carried away with some of them-
If anyone wants me to expand on any of these/wants to expand on any ideas themselves, feel free to let me know (I like the side characters a lot. Might think of more later)

Seong Taehoon x Reader: A humbling punch to the face
G/N. Soft, lil silly. Masterlists
You had always thought that Taehoon was someone who needed a good punch to the face.
Until you saw him sparring with his dad, and then you wondered if he was kicked too many times in the head growing up and that's why he is how he is.
Hansu denied this though, the one time you asked, chuckled then blamed Taehoon's mother for his disposition. Told you that's where he got his personality and attitude.
"Didn't you get into any trouble when you were younger, Mr. Seong?"
You didn't get an answer. Just a grimace before you were shooed away because Hansu suddenly remembered he had things to do.
You, however, have never been kicked in the face or been in a fight. You're not sure you would fare well, not that you're keen on finding out. And you would like to keep it that way too, despite the amount of times Taehoon threatens you.
"You want to die?"
"I'll kick your ass."
"Do you want me to beat you up?"
Occasionally, you would feel a bit too mouthy and delusional and respond with, "Yeah, what you gonna do?"
The few times you were really pissing him off, he had glared at you, muttering profanities under his breath and skulked off.
Usually though, you would receive a few harsh flicks to your forehead or cheek pulls for your trouble.
You could never defend yourself against Taehoon. There was no chance. You flailed and squirmed to no avail, and once Taehoon was sufficiently entertained with your antics, you might be rewarded with a kiss, accompanied by "dumbass".
In the better moments, the ones you think most fondly back on, he would pin you down, calling you a brat and leave you panting and breathless beneath him.
But his reality check comes not with a punch to the face, but when you're the one that flicks him harshly on the forehead.
An unexpected pain that causes Taehoon to flinch and spill his snacks all over your bedding.
"You need to look after yourself," you tell him, your worry and fears coming out short and angry.
First he was hospitalised due to Seongjun, and now because of Jinho. It's only been days since he's been discharged and you haven't left his side.
Taehoon sees the stress on your face, the bags under your eyes.
"Shut up," he tells you, dragging you close, trapping your body beneath his as he nips at your earlobes for your insolence.
With Taehoon, what you want, you always get. He’d hand you the world on a silver platter with only a minor grumble. And if you want him to be careful, for you, he will at least try.

snooze.
jinwoo sung x fem.reader
{ i can’t lose when i’m with you | how can i snooze and miss the moment? | you just too important | nobody do body like you do... }
you lived for making your boyfriend blush-
even if it seemed like such an impossible feat to accomplish.
your beloved was none other than sung jinwoo himself, the powerful s-rank hunter who became known as the strongest in the world within what seemed like a few short months.
you suppose that you were lucky, managing to capture his heart from before he even became subjected to the system's influence, remaining by his side when he first confessed to you as the weakest hunter in the world.
"i k-know that i'm not that handsome, or strong, or even that brave, really... but... just know that i love you the most. i would do anything to protect you."
you bask in the memory of his confession, admiring how cute he looked as a pink blush dyes his cheeks, making it a much rosier hue. you always loved gazing into his grey eyes while admiring the pure love he held for you within such a gaze-
but that all changes the moment he reawakens, now turned into a force that should not be reckoned with through his abilities of leveling up alone.
gradually, he loses the prior roundness of his face, his features becoming much sharper and more defined. along with this change, he steadily began to get taller- not stopping his growth until he reached the 6'2" mark.
now towering over you instead of just being a mere few inches taller than you, jinwoo basks in the way you became so flustered around him. his voice had gotten deeper, losing the prior meekness he once had. jinwoo now walked and talked with a confidence when interacting with the other hunters-
but deep down, you knew that he was still the same man you fell in love with; the one whom you loved even while he was a mere e-rank.
which was why you made it your life's mission to embarrass him (just to humble him a little bit!)
currently, you were walking towards the building where his guild was located, carrying with you his lunch that you had made for him consisting of all his favorite foods. with the food packed neatly within the containers, you take confident strides towards his office.
jinho greets you upon seeing you, giving you a bow while leading you to where jinwoo was. after thanking him, the vice-president leaves you alone, as you knock against jinwoo's door.
"come in." his stern voice was heard, making you smile in response.
you open the door and greet him eagerly, holding up the lunch you packed for him with a wide grin.
"hello, love. i made some food for you!"
immediately, jinwoo's expression changes from a mask of indifference to pure joy at the sight of you.
you bask in the way jinwoo's grey eyes seemed to light up in response, with him even making an effort to come meet you as he stands from his seat. closing the door behind you, a tiny grin paints your features when you give him his bag of food. he gives you a kiss against your forehead, thanking you for cooking for him as he places the bag on his desk.
with jinwoo distracted, you let out a giggle before running towards him, wrapping your arms around his front while nuzzling your face against his back.
"wha- sarang?! what are y-you doing?"
you continue giggling while breathing in his scent. "it doesn't matter how strong you get, you're still such a dork."
"a d-d-d-dork?!" jinwoo's voice cracks just the tiniest bit, making you burst out into uncontrollable laughter, wrapping your arms even tighter around him.
"yes, you're a d-d-d-dork!" you tell him between bouts of laughter.
jinwoo stiffens in response to your teasing, but still places his hand over yours in an affectionate manner.
"i am not a dork." you could practically hear the pout in his voice, feeling proud that you were able to make him flustered.
despite how much he had changed on the outside-
his heart still remained the same.
"you're such a cute dork..." you continue to tease him, feeling him stiffen again. despite how you had your face still pressed against his back, you could practically picture how red his face had gotten, being certain that the blush had even spread to the tip of his ears.
jinwoo begins to stutter in response, stating incomprehensible words as you grin at him in response.
pressing a kiss against his back, you sigh before telling him, "you're the cutest man in the world... i love you."
that was the final straw for jinwoo. he uses his strength to unwrap your arms around him, making you gasp as you found yourself being lifted up within his powerful embrace.
your face began to heat up in response when jinwoo presses you against the wall of his office, eyes glowing purple as a smirk decorates his features.
"i'm going to show you how i am not cute... that i am a man that can make you fall to your knees for me."
and as you feel him delving his fingers into your hair, kissing you so deeply that you found it harder to breathe-
you figured you should tease him more often if this was the response you would always get ♡
a.n. - whew, double updates as i enjoy the rest of my weekend. after this post, i may take a few days off to catch up on school work, since i have presentations and exams coming up 😭. i'll be back soon, just have patience, and i thank you for all you readers who recently followed me and enjoy my works!

⎙ » yours
pairing : bang jinho x neohuman!reader
synopsis : i just wanna be yours, i wanna be yours
warning : lowercase intended. not proofread. mentions of smoking.
a/n : so happy he got more screen time in this last season
"want some coffee?" you cheekily asked the soldier on your left named Jinho.
"i don't want to associate with a monster like you," he spat, leaving you alone while you smirked, your yearning for him growing.
you were part of sangwon's group that took over the stadium filled with humans. reckless and stubborn, you had no intentions of hurting them. after all, you were just like them months ago.
you stuck around sangwon and his minions for company, and it was horrible.
oh, how the heavens blessed you when you met him, a soldier named bang jinho, probably the most nonchalant person you'd ever met. You wondered if it was because you kept putting your nose in his business, which annoyed him.
but you loved his reactions.
"what the hell are you doing?" he asked, already irritated as you lit up his bulb with what you called a curse. "providing you electricity. It's bad to work in the dark," you winked, smiling.
"i'm about to sleep," he said, turning his back on you.
"oops?"
"it's too hot!" he shouted, his back turning red. "you need to be warm; it's cold season already!" you swatted him.
"are you crazy? it's literally—" you cut him off, pouring hot water on him again while laughing.
"Why are you suddenly sweeping there?" dongjun asked cluelessly. "my baby jinho must work in clean spaces!" you replied, mopping the floor with passion, wearing a mask and surgical gloves.
"you sure that's not your ocd acting up?"
"dongjun said you used to have long hair. why did you cut it?" you asked, chin on his shoulder, peeking at him from behind.
"none of your business," he said, pushing you away while you sulked.
"what the fuck? why is your hand dry? whis is not what I imagined holding your hands would feel like," you complained, grabbing lotion from your pocket and applying it to his hands.
"why do you have—" you cut him off again.
"don't even ask why I have lotion in my pocket. i'm always prepared, babe."
"you know, jinho will run out of patience with you. why do you keep bothering him?" dongjun asked while he puffed cancer sticks with you.
"just wanna be his."

[ 박성훈 ] THE WAY THINGS GO ꒰ P.SH x F!READER
001. queen is back
IN WHICH ✶ — y/n returns to korea after three years of college due to her grandmother being too sick and unable to care for herself. she transfers to hybe university for her senior year, bumping into a bunch of her old school friends. but once she bumps into her best friend of 7 years she’s unrecognizable to him due to the fact they haven’t seen nor talked to each other in 4 years. she can’t remember how to say his name to call out for him, or even remember how many moles he had on his face.
“I’ll call you back, I need to get my halmeoni’s medicine.” Y/n told Chaewon, who was on the other line of the phone. “Kay, be safe.” Chaewon said before ending the call.
Y/n was walking to the pharmacist near her grandmother's house. Y/n currently lived with her grandmother and not at the dorms. Her halmeoni insisted she live with her friends at the dorms but Y/n couldn’t leave her sick halmeoni alone.
The bell of the door rang as Y/n walked in. “Bro, no one told your stupid ass to jump off the balcony stairs onto an air mattress.” Another thing Y/n heard as she walked in. It was a man her age on his phone as he looked at the bandages. “I don’t care if Jay dared you, what are you a child?—actually don’t answer that. You better pay Rei back for that vase, she gifted it to us.”
“Is it a lot of blood?” The man paused, waiting for an answer. “Okay, good because I’m not trying to buy the 50 pack, they charge three dollars more.” He whispers the last part.
Y/n walked past the man to the register in the back of the store. “Hello, I’m here to pick up medicine for Baek Jinho.”
“Perfect, on time! It was just finished! I’ll go get it.” The cashier went into the back to go fetch the bag of meds. Y/n looked around the store, surprised to still see the man looking at bandages.
“Here it is!” The lady handed the bag to Y/n. “I already paid online.” Y/n made sure to tell the lady. “Yes, so you’re free to go.” The lady smiled. “Thank you.” Y/n slightly bowed before turning around.
She accidentally bumps into the man’s chest. “Oh—I’m so sorry.” Y/n picks up the dropped items. “I didn’t see you.” Y/n bows continuously. “No problem.” The man chuckles, “I was standing kind of close anyways. You’re good.” The man flashes his charming smile.
“You’re in my foreign languages, right?” Y/n nodded her head. “I’m Park Sunghoon, Dance Major. What about you?” Y/n couldn’t answer, because one, this was THEE Park Sunghoon she was talking to, the Park Sunghoon she grew up with. Could he not recognize her? Has it really been that long? and second, he was getting spam texts and calls.
“Ugh—I’m so sorry, I need to take this.” Sunghoon groaned as he accepted the call. “What happened now? No, I'm not stopping to get snacks.” His conversation got faint as Y/n started to walk away from his presence.
Seeing Park Sunghoon was not what she expected to be like. She expected him to welcome her back with open arms and “How have you been” questions. Instead he couldn’t even tell it was her.

Loyalty of The Shadow _ Part 2
[Sung Jinwoo x Friend!Reader]
Part 1 — Part 2 (here) — Part 3
You gave Jinwoo the eyes when you heard the words out of his mouth. No way. You jumped off the couch and threw the manhwa in your hands into the air, while the Shadow knight scrambled to catch it, you stomped your way over to the two Hunters. “Sung. Jin. Woo! No way are you going to name your one and only guild as—!! Why are you all soaked?!”
Your anger disappeared the moment your eyes caught sight of Jinwoo’s appearance, before he could even answer your question, you had rushed into a room (that he is not even familiar with) and came back with a fluffy towel. Your hand signaled at your shadow and another knight emerged to raise you up to Jinwoo’s eye level. You dapped the towel over his head and started drying him off.
“You’ll catch a cold at this rate.” You pouted while you continued to dry his hair, feeling the towel slowly absorb the water from Jinwoo.
There was his muffled chuckle and you heard him comment half lightedly, “You know I don’t get sick.”
Your eye twitched and your gentleness turned to playfulness as your speech quickened and you started viciously rubbing the towel against his head and then face. “Well, guess you can handle this too.”
For a few seconds, Jinwoo let you do all that with a smile that was hidden by the towel. Then, his hands raised to your sides and hovered there, “Are you going to stop?”
“Nope!”
“You asked for it.”
“Huh?” Your confusion was a brief nenosecond before your erupted into laughter. “Hahahahha!!! St—!! Hahah!!! Stop!! Hahahha! Can’t breathe! Hahhaahhahhaaa! Stop it!!”
“You reaped what you sow.” You heard Jinwoo’s chuckle.
Jinho watched with a blink expression, soon stating as monotonous as reflect of his mood. “Can you two get a room.”
Jinwoo finally stopped and you were also finally allowed to catch your breath. You leaning against Jinwoo’s chest unconsciously and Jinwoo’s hands on your shoulders to stablize you from falling over. While you were busy catching your breath, you completely missed the way Jinwoo softly smiled at you like a precious being in his heart.
Knock. Knock.
“Who is it?” Jinho looked over to the door and went to answer it.
“This is Hunter Sung Jinwoo’s Guild office, right?”
Your ears perked up at the voice and dashed over, opening the door wider with a beaming smile, immediately greeting her without giving Jinho a chance. “Hunter Cha!”
The S-Rank Hunter blinked in surprise and looked at you bewildered, “You’re here too?”
You hummed, grabbing Hae-In’s hand to pull her into the office. “Yup! It’s been a while since we last saw each other, huh? Did you try that new cafe I recommended?”
“Yes, it was a pleasant experience,” Hae-In smiled back, “I even brought my raid team once, they loved it too. It was a good recommendation for sure.”
“Glad you can have some relaxation from all that Hunter business.” You jabbed a thumb in Jinwoo’s supposed direction and rolled your eyes, “That Jinwoo is a workaholic, or raidaholic if you know what I mean, never misses a chance to just go into a dungeon and raid…”
A rough hand was placed on your shoulder and pulled you back, then your sight was half covered by Jinwoo’s back. You looked up at him, he had his eyes on Hae-In with indifference and a hint of annoyance? Well, you didn’t think of anything else since his tone was the same as always, “Hunter Cha, what are you doing here?”
Hae-In’s fingers rubbed each other, you caught her nervousness, an unusual sight for sure. “Um… Your Guild…” She looked up at Jinwoo in the eyes as she requested. “I’d like to join it.”
“De—”
“Let’s all sit down first and talk!” You interrupted, stepping out from behind Jinwoo. You once more took her hand in yours and led the way. “Right this way please.” You turned to Jinho, “Can you prepare some snacks and drinks, please, Vice-master?”
“Yeah! Sure!” Jinho was quick on the uptake and left the scene.
Jinwoo sighed and eyed his shadow where multiple pairs of eyes stared down, some moving as though shaking their heads. Then he made his way over to where you had seated Hae-In and sat on the couch opposite to hers. Why is it so hard to get a moment between us…?
As much as you hated serious business and Jinwoo knows that, he stilled pulled you down on the couch to sit next to him for his chat with Hae-In. To cure your boredom, your assigned Shadows had helped you retrieve your stuck of manhwa you were read before Jinwoo’s return. And because Jinwoo wanted to be clingy and hold a part of you, you satisfied his wish by plopping your head on his lap while your legs hang off of the arm of the couch burying your face in the pages of your manhwa.
“Then why… would you want to join my ‘Solo Play’ Guild?” Jinwoo asked seriously.
“Y— Your Guild’s name is ‘Solo Play’?!” See? Even Hae-In was shocked like she saw an S-Rank ghost or something.
“Yes, what’s the problem with the name?”
“Everything’s the problem.” You lowered your manhwa to glare at Jinwoo.
He looked down at you. “Me and the Vice-master agreed to it.”
“Hyung-nim, did you just say that we agreed? It was never decided in the first place! What about the names I suggested?!” Jinho shouted from across the room.
“??” Jinwoo looked over in the direction of Jinho, genuinely confused while you and Hae-In followed the conversation with blank stares and faces. “You didn’t say anything so I thought that you agreed.”
As the conversation shifted back to between Jinwoo and Hae-In, you observed the situation silently and faking your attention on your manhwa. Hae-In’s expression and her speech. Your eyes slowly blinked and you continued to read your manhwa once you figured it out. Hunter Cha Hae-In has fallen in love with Jinwoo.
It was obvious why people would fall for someone like Jinwoo. From zero to hero, from E-Rank to S-Rank, from weakest to strongest. Jinwoo’s change was like night and day. You saw many of these transformations in your stories and the like, but it was just that, stories. In a world like this, Jinwoo’s change was odd and miraculous. A fairy tale change.
But you’ve seen and heard of all the hardships he faced. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t done with the snap of his fingers. Sure the results now was what everyone focused on. Though, where were they when he was at his lowest? Fighting for his life and for the betterment, no, survival of his family. None stick to him. None flock to him with pure intent.
Not to say those that flock to him now have pure intent too.
Still though, it wasn’t your place to be so judgmental when you were neither an influential figure nor a Hunter. You were just Jinwoo’s long standing friend.
“I only need one more member for my Guild, I don’t plan to make it big.” Jinwoo spoke firmly, a finger pointed down at you, “And that spot is reserved for this friend of mine. So I must decline your request to join.”
“You need Hunters to be your member in your Guild, not citizens.” Hae-In flinched.
“I had asked the Chairman and it was alright.” Jinwoo looked down at you and gently moved your book by the binder down to reveal your face staring up at him. “I just need your consent to finalize.”
You raised a brow at him, “I personally think Hunter Cha would be a better match as a member though.” You moved the book away from his hold and continued your point, “Just think, the country’s smallest Guild with 2 S-Rank Hunters. Quite the name, no?”
Jinwoo sighed, “Actually, there’s an entrance test for our Guild.”
“H- Huh?! That wasn’t in the recruiting notice…”
“I guess that the Vice-guild master must’ve made a mistake, since it’s a new rule for outsiders.” Jinwoo glanced over to Hae-In.
“What kind of test is it?” Hae-In stared back at Jinwoo, unmoving.
She’s stubborn. Jinwoo eyed at you who was back to reading without a care in the world. And so are you… “You have to win against one of my summons.”
Long story short, you somehow was got roped into joining the fight, not as a fighter but as a spectator or a judge if you will. Since you have a nack for observing people and pinpointing weakness to be improved, Jinwoo would more often than not bring you along for his private dungeon raids and training. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy it.
Because Jinwoo was always flexing his power and strength, not to mention his Shadows were fun to hang around.
Now that you’re here, you wondered if setting Beru as Hae-In’s opponent was a good thing. You bet she still has some trauma from the Jeju Raid. You thought Jinwoo would be lenient and ask for Igris to fight Hae-In. Speaking of…
You looked at the knight standing by you with his cloak wrapped around you to protect you from the aftermath of Beru’s strikes and Hae-In’s defences. To your right was Jinwoo, though his eyes were on the fight, one of his hand was raised to shield your front. Like he was ready to jump in and stop whenever needed.
If Hae-In were to be accepted into the Guild, she’d have a lot of time to spend with Jinwoo and your moments with Jinwoo would be forfeited, since he’d spend a lot more time in the dungeon and raiding. It was sad to think about, even though Jinwoo would lend his Shadows to keep you company, it wasn’t the same as spending time with Jinwoo.
You do recalled the few moments where you joked about asking to be Jinwoo’s significant other. Though, it was fine in fantasy, but the responsibility of staying was scary. As perfect as it was in stories, you can’t imagine yourself being good enough for Jinwoo as a partner, as a friend—yes, but as a partner? Maybe not.
So why did your heart felt like it’s being squeezed to your death when Jinwoo stepped between Beru and Hae-In, protecting her like a knight in shining armour?
You turned to Igris and had him lean down so you could whisper. “I need some time alone, so I’ll leave first.”
Igris’ behaviour made it look like he didn’t want you to leave and wanted to tell his lord and master. You stopped him and had the Shadows placed on you return to Jinwoo.
“Please do me this favour.”
Reluctantly, Igris nodded in forced understanding.
So you left without a word as silently as you could after giving Igris a headpat.
It was the biggest mistake of your life.
Note: Shhh. Part 2's out. Never gonna make it continue. But here it is... Anyways~ There's also Part 3 being drafted. Prepare for angst!!! Let me know what you think of this one~

Solo Leveling // Legends Never Die
Title: Chapter 10 - Grind Series: Solo Leveling ( I Alone Level Up ) Pairing: Sung Jin-woo/Original Female Character Rating: Mature Chapters: 10/? Word Count: ~6304 A/N: It only took… three years… haha… did you miss me? ;; It's been so long that I wonder if people will like this chapter… hope you like it! ><;
Again, I will tag the appropriate tags at the beginning of each chapter to avoid general spoilers.
*agasshi (아가씨) - miss *halmeoni - granny/grandmother *eomma - a casual reference to mother/mom
I tried adding some introspection, but I think that's hard to do in that situation.
Summary: Jinwoo is faced with an ultimatum, and Yoona stumbles her way into an "easy" way of grinding through the system.
— x —
AO3
Lizards.
It's a slang term that refers to the people who betray other party members, saving their own skin and leaving them behind. It's not the same as the situation with Jinwoo or Yoona in the Double Dungeon since they had volunteered to be left behind so as not to drag down the party in their escape. These people, however, save themselves for their own personal gain.
Jinwoo recollects a conversation he had with another Hunter named Oh. He clarifies that because being a Hunter is dangerous, it's expected that risk and injuries come with the job. However, the problem with the job is that their current electrical technology loses its functions once it enters the Gate. Or rather, it's more like there is no technology that's able to connect to the other side of the gate. Thus, people cannot watch what's happening inside the Gate from the outside. (It's been said that humans and hunters have yet to develop the necessary tech to withstand the transport through the portal due to the high mana density.)
This makes it very difficult to prove a crime has been committed inside the dungeon. Without the security of technology to monitor inside the dungeons, there is no way to stop a hunter from committing any sort of crime. So the weaker someone is, the more expendable they become. However, if someone is strong, people seek that strength and will cling to them.
But, if a hunter says that they're useless or even get in the way, then, like a lizard leaving its tail behind, a person can end up being cut in more than one way.
And it's this specific warning that repeats itself in Jinwoo's mind as Jinho panics, watching their exit disappear. Even if they tried to stop them from trapping them within the boss room, the attack force was ready to strike them down if anything changed.
Paying attention to details wasn't needed, hm? Jinwoo suddenly understands what Hwang Dongsuk means.
Dropping the bags onto the ground, he muses that this giant spider monster, the boss, is nothing like his traumatizing experience in the Double Dungeon. In fact, there's a feeling that perhaps this is fate that he gets this opportunity to test his current abilities on a C-Rank dungeon boss.
"That's mine," he says, his dagger summoned to his hand as he prepares for combat.
And for the first time, he smiles with confidence.
— x —
The destruction where the Gate opened is disastrous.
There's shouting in the distance, but what remains of the park is gone and, instead, is littered with debris and wounds on the earth from the blasts in the ensuing battle. What people could be saved are pulled off the field and the only people left are some Hunters trying to fend off the boss.
Yoona runs as fast as she is able to get closer. But from a distance, she could only watch who she could assume to be the healer dropping to the ground from mana exhaustion. The only person left standing appears to be a tank, holding his shield up. In front of him is a plant-like creature, tall and massive, that stands easily four stories tall, wood and vines making up its form between its bark. It stands in front of the blue portal, wavering and threatening to allow more creatures to escape the dungeon. Its build is very similar to that of a stocky golem, a four-legged creature with a tree trunk for its face. Glowing green eyes gleam from between its bark as its front arm lifts and quickly drops it.
But the back of the head of the tank bracing for impact is familiar, someone she didn't expect to see so soon on the frontlines.
"Adrien!"
His head doesn't turn, bringing up his shield to block an incoming attack from the large plant-like golem.
Yoona doesn't want to assume, but it looks like she has caught them between waves. This also means that they don't have much time for Adrien to catch her up on what's happened thus far. This creature looks like they're the last one of the group that's managed to escape the dungeon's gate.
The healer passed out, exhausted, with her health low to the point that it's in danger. Yoona sees both of their health bars above their heads, like a video game, and the corners of her mouth twitch. Honestly, how much is the System making her see this as a video game instead of a life-or-death situation?
Clearly, someone has a terrible sense of humor.
She doesn't even think when she utters a healing spell with the wave of her hand, the sparkling glow that comes from her fingers shimmering over Adrien, who's about to take another blow to his shield. He manages to brace it in time as he is enveloped in the healing glow of her healing magic. He sinks into the earth under its forceful weight, cracking and breaking the earth around him, a grunt before he changes it into a yell to shove the creature off his shield.
Yoona slides into place beside the healer, looking over the healer's condition. She's weak, dripping in cold sweat, and exhausted from mana exhaustion, on top of the low health. She waves a hand over her face and utters a heal to watch most of their injuries disappear and finally breathe without the distress.
The creature shudders, stumbling back from how Adrien threw it off-balance.
He spares her a glance back with a small grin. "Much thanks for the assist."
"Of course," she responds with a grin, happy to see her friend again. But this isn't the time to play catch-up.
The creature slams its large hoof-like feet down on Adrien's shield again and he gets shoved deeper into the earth.
"Need help?"
"A little," he grunts and shoves the creature with more strength again once Yoona has finished healing him to full.
Huh, finished healing him. Is there something he should be aware of? Above all else, healed him to full? This is Yoona that came to his aid, right? But, she has… white hair?
The idle thoughts disappear when the golem drops its foot back down on the shield in a rushing force that Adrien gets pummeled, disappearing into the earth under his buckler like a hammer hammering a nail into the ground.
Setting the healer away from the battle, Yoona pulls her staff out from her inventory in a shimmer of electrical golden light and it swirls around her in anticipation of what's to come. With a grin, Yoona twirls the staff in her hand. No longer does she feel intimidated by such a daunting and seemingly overwhelming creature from the Gate, but Yoona is excited to test out just how powerful this new staff of hers is.
————— x —————
(!) 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 [POISON] is ineffective against TREE GOLEM!
————— x —————
A pity, Yoona thinks. But it confirms that it's a golem rather than a living creature. She had a feeling that the area-of-effect poison would be ineffective against it. Idly, if she was a fire mage, she could probably do some really intense damage. Well, if this were a video game that's based off of elemental properties like a certain little pocket monster series.
Still, she casts a buff spell on herself, which buffs all of her physical and defensive stats temporarily, and takes off running.
The golem notices her and turns in her direction.
It's too slow to respond when Yoona runs until she's just in front of it, and then jumps straight up. With more strength than she realizes she has when she becomes level with its face, Yoona takes this opportunity to stab the golem in its eyes with her spear.
With a roar, it pulls its head away from the offending weapon.
With the strength she now has, thanks to her recent level gain, she pulls back and her staff-turned-spear cleaves clean the head of the golem off of its trunk body. And in nanoseconds, Yoona watches as its vines move swiftly to grab for its head.
In the same momentum, Yoona doesn't give it a chance to recover, and she twirls in mid-air, grabs an ax from her inventory, and drops its blade down into the center of the trunk where its head once was. With how much force she applies to the ax, she continues the motion with several strikes from her left to her right and back again before the ax breaks from fighting against the golem's trunk.
As it shatters, it disappears into the air in a fit of blue light and sparkles when she releases it.
With its trunk cleanly cut open from her ax, it exposes its center, the core. Different from the monster's magic cores that drop from a monster's defeat, this one is what controls this creature. From somewhere else, its monster magical core will appear.
Dropping down onto the staggering headless body, Yoona lifts her spear and points the sharp blade at the core. Without pause, she brings it down and breaks the jewel-like blue orb, breaking it into near halves.
With a broken groan of wood grinding, it stumbles and drops to its knees, shaking the earth.
————— x —————
(!) 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 You have leveled up!
————— x —————
She blinks at the notification. Really? How easy is it really to level up like this? Still, she's not going to complain if it means she's leveling up. However, she wishes with every level up, she has something more than that to allot more points into her stats.
Maybe she's going about this wrong. Idly, she makes a mental note to look over the interface again later.
Canceling the effect of her buff spell, Yoona jumps down to the ground where Adrien is busy digging himself out of the hole. He blinks when he realizes the golem is down. His head swivels, blinking repeatedly when his gaze lands on Yoona.
She twirls the staff and replaces it back inside her inventory in a flash of light, making her way over to him. Her gaze subtly narrows when the hairs on the back of her neck lift and she tries to resist the urge to look around, aware that she's being watched. Yoona needs to feign ignorance or else, it's possible that those watching would figure out she's been Reawakened.
"Need a hand?" she asks again. It's amusing considering he's about halfway out of the hole and is still waist-deep inside it.
"Yeah," he says, holding his hand up from the hole. She braces his wrist and pulls him out with surprising ease.
Yoona lets him go as Adrien blinks, looking her over and dusting himself off while she looks at her hand and flexes her fingers. How curious; normally, Adrien is considerably heavier than he looks because he's muscular. Plus, equipped with the gear, he's a size that someone of her frame would have trouble moving.
"Yoona?"
The incredulous tone comes when comprehension dawns on him.
She turns her head to face him, giving him a small smile.
"No, wait," he says, shaking his head in disbelief and lifting a hand to her and the other to his head, "you can't be her—last I checked, she had black hair and her healing spells literally couldn't heal me to half health, let alone to full." He drops his hand and crosses his arms across his chest with a scrutinizing stare.
"Who are you?"
"Haha." Yoona averts her gaze and nervously forces a laugh, wondering how she's going to explain to Adrien that she experienced a Reawakening and is capable of getting stronger? Hell, she wonders if he would even believe her. Much less believe her about her ability to see now an interface that she calls her own personal video game. Even if the consequences of said video game mean the end of people's lives.
Adrien arches a brow.
"A-ny-way, we should head inside the gate and kill the boss before any more of those creatures respawn," Yoona says, holding her hand to her eyes to peer at their surroundings when there seem to be no more creatures around that have otherwise escaped. However, in doing so, she can't seem to see who it is that's watching her, but she can sense that there are two B-Rank Hunters nearby. They weren't there earlier when she took down the golem, but definitely after.
Maybe if she really tried, she could probably throw a dagger in the direction just to scare the living daylights out of them.
He squints and then stares at her for a moment longer before hefting a heavy sigh. "Alright, I'll let it slide this time but—!"
"—… But what?" She looks hesitantly in his direction. Honestly, lying has never been her forte.
"You owe me some kind of explanation other than what I can only assume is… whatever I think it is."
This time, Yoona's wariness drops and she's left surprised. Taken aback by his vague wording, her brows quickly furrow when her thoughts start running. Assumptions like he's on the radio with the UK Hunters Association or perhaps, the people that she senses that are nearby might have something to do with it.
There's a sharp look in his eye that warns her to leave it at that and radios that all is clear and that he's heading into the Gate.
He gestures with his head for them to head inside and with one final cursory glance around, Yoona follows.
Inside the Gate, a forest with high temple walls greets her with tall trees and high underbrush. They stand in a clearing in the middle of a forest where its canopy shrouds the floor of the forest in shifting shadows. The temple walls make it feel like a maze and the canopy of the trees is the ceiling.
"Damn," Adrien swears.
Yoona has seen her fair share of Gates and sometimes there are new ones to explore. This one is a meld of the typical forest dungeons often found through a Red Gate—a dungeon that locks its Hunters inside until all of the hunters have died or it's cleared—and a typical dungeon. Generally, each one specifically has limitations, much like typical dungeons where there is a direct or a maze-like path to be explored upon entry.
"What? This dungeon isn't to your liking?" Yoona asks, somewhat amused.
"It's fine," he shrugs weakly. "But, I just realized, how are we going to clear the dungeon and beat the dungeon boss by ourselves? We're not exactly high-ranking Hunters."
Yoona feels it's probably safe now to tell him about her recent changes.
"But!" Adrien takes a few steps forward, casting a glance in Yoona's direction with an arched brow. "Something tells me that something happened to you after we left that hell of a place." He steps close to her, relieved and with bright eyes.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, he gives her a watery smile. "You made it and—" he squeezes her shoulder, "—I'm really glad you did."
Yoona smiles, nodding, and placing a hand on his to give him a reassuring squeeze. "Yeah," she says, feeling a strange lump forming in her throat. "A lot happened."
Adrien quirks a crooked smile, pulling Yoona in for a tight hug. Yoona forces the lump down her throat, appreciative of his genuine care for her welfare. It's been far and few between since people often wanted something from her or found her more of an inconvenience. But Adrien has always been a friend first and foremost, even after they found out their ranks as Hunters.
So when he pulls away, he clears his throat and straightens, giving her another look over.
"Hm."
He glances around the dungeon. Scratching his head, he crosses his arms across his chest and arches a brow. He returns his attention back to Yoona.
"So," he begins, giving her an expectant look.
Nervously, Yoona laughs and averts her gaze.
"You took down that golem with no problem—you wanna share something with the class? Or namely, I don't know, me? Cause I feel like I need to know something before we die trying to clear this dungeon." And then he arches a brow. "And weren't you… hm, I dunno, shorter?"
He makes a gesture hovering over her head and to where she comes up to his shoulder.
Lifting her gaze up to the taller, Yoona clears her throat and places a hand on her hip. She tries not to think about how her height correlates to Adrien. (But, she was definitely up to his chest before, no, wait, smaller? And now, she comes to his shoulder?) "Well, remember the double dungeon?"
The sound of the forest rustles in the back and the humidity is palpable that Yoona wipes at her brow. Even Adrien adjusts the armor he wears as he readies his equipment, sensing the change in the atmosphere. Again, Yoona pulls out her staff with a shimmer of light.
He twirls his sword in his hand before raising his buckler, moving ahead of her as they start venturing into the dungeon. "Is this a rhetorical question?"
Ah, right, stupid question but she honestly blames nerves. She isn't sure how he'd take the news, but she feels like she owes him that much, having been one of the few people who experienced the double dungeon. Adrien is one of the few people that's stuck with her since she started working as a Hunter.
"Wait." He turns his head to give her another look over and looks dumbfounded. "Did you get a Reawakening?"
"Focus, Adrien!"
He shakes his head. "Talk and cover for me—surely, you can do that, can't you?"
Yoona makes a face but moves after him, positioned behind him for any attacks that would come from the front. She supposes old habits die hard and follows as she sighs, finding she isn't nervous about the dungeon, but rather how he'd react to her news. After all, she hasn't even told Jinwoo about it yet. Maybe it's just easier to tell Adrien since he was there—at least, he was there before she "died."
"There's not much to tell you except I might've Reawakened."
She resists the urge to grimace and slap herself on the forehead.
"'Might've? Might've? ' So you're telling me that your white hair has nothing to do with your highly probable Reawakening?"
Ah, she really can't fool him, can she? Foolishly, Yoona thought she could back out of telling him the truth, but she's come this far. The guilt that Adrien knows before Jinwoo manifests itself in her chest, clawing at her, but at the very least, she owes Adrien. He was there and it's not fair of her to keep this from him when it's all too obvious that he can see the changes.
She scratches her head and sighs. "Alright, so I—sort of, yeah—had a Reawakening, but when I got tested by the Monitoring Division, there was no change in my evaluation."
This is the truth, despite Adrien sparing her an scrutinizing look, opting in lieu of investigating around the corner of the dungeon. Somehow, she has a feeling he doesn't believe her. This is proven true when they clear a couple of floors of the dungeon, most of it emptied when the Gate opened earlier and let them roam outside in their world, and all Adrien does is sigh in the most exaggerated manner.
Dramatic, really.
"I'm serious!" Yoona decides to emphasize. "I was evaluated to still be an E-Rank when they came to the same conclusion you did. They were there when I woke up."
Adrien, again, remains skeptical, but decides after a moment more that he seems to believe her.
Their investigation through the dungeon is anti-climatic, finding that most of the monsters have already left the gate, leaving only the boss deep inside the dungeon. However, there's an odd tingle down her spine at the feeling when she approaches it. Nerves? Anxiety? No, it's probably something like excitement? Oh, yes, that's it.
It's been awhile since she got to test out the limits of her newfound abilities that she's excited about fighting this dungeon boss.
The boss, in the end, is at a higher level than the previous bosses she's fought before.
No, she's wrong.
There's more than one boss at the end, and she's positively giddy.
"But, something did happen while I was down there, and I don't know if you'll believe me," Yoona starts, wondering if this is okay. Telling Adrien before she's telling Jinwoo feels somehow wrong and her grip tightens on her staff before she relaxes again.
But Jinwoo wasn't there.
Would he understand?
"You won't know until you try and tell me, right?" Adrien shrugs. He relaxes now that they've cleared the dungeon. It seems the Gate has already released every creature from the dungeon out into the world. He sheathes his blade and continues to navigate the maze. "And at this point, I can almost believe anything can happen. If we can stumble upon a rare double dungeon that has S-Gate monsters inside it, then anything is possible."
"You think there's more than that out there?" Yoona blinks, incredulous. "And do you think our luck is really that bad?"
"Why not? These Gates only started showing up ten years ago and we still don't know everything about them or why they started showing up. Plus," Adrien pauses briefly to give her another glance, "anything's possible now. I really hope that we're really not that—" he grimaces, "—'lucky' to encounter another one of those dungeons."
Yoona presses her lips into a thin line, furrowing her brows. It's like a conspiracy theory, one that seems common on the internet. She can only imagine why they would come to this conclusion.
Especially when their theory holds true: at the end of this dungeon are two large creatures that she could guess as two boss monsters.
She senses it before she sees it in the next room over. They enter a cavernous room with large trees encompassing the sides and their long branches filling the ceiling and covering the sky. Large tiles and building pieces of an ancient civilization are littered into pieces on the sides, giving the impression the ceiling caved in and its debris is left in the middle of the room.
Movement in the corner catches their attention that Adrien barely lifts his shield in time to brace for impact.
"Adrien!"
It's an explosion of energy and debris that shoves Adrien from where he once stood, his feet sliding along the ground as he explodes into the wall of the temple. Smoke covers him that Yoona can't see whether or not—
Another movement on her other side that she barely lifts her staff in time to brace for impact and she's sent flying into the other wall in her own explosion of debris.
She coughs out, surprised, and barely moves in time when another movement in the smoke catches her off guard that she drops, crouches, and then lunges with her staff.
It barely nicks whatever is attacking her, taking advantage of the brief smoke to hide itself from her view.
But it's strong, sturdy, and she knows she hit it.
It takes a moment more that she dodges the next impact, jumping forward to duck into a roll that takes her a few steps closer back to the center of the boss room.
"Adrien! You doing okay?!"
"Oh, never better! Ugh," he groans as he manages to pull himself from being pummeled by whatever it is that is attacking them.
What on earth is this boss?
No, Yoona sensed two earlier—
The smoke finally clears as she hears the growling, low and deep, that she makes the connection that it's what she had speculated—two bosses.
Well, she speculated one mini-boss and the actual boss but watching as the two jaguar-like creatures circle them told her otherwise. One is slightly smaller than the other with both sporting inky black coats and four large black wings along their back. While they don't have paws, they have talons, moving with surprising dexterity and quiet that Yoona swears they probably also had some kind of paw pad.
And they're both triple her height.
They circle her now as Adrien comes to the center of the arena. Yoona couldn't help the small smile she makes, an excitement she didn't know she could have in the face of danger manifesting in the face of a new challenge. Her grip on her staff tightens and then relaxes again, ready to move in the next moment she's ready.
Now, it'll be a little odd working with Adrien since she's Reawakened, but it can't be helped.
"Adrien, we're going to work together to take them down, right?"
"I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here that can help, so yeah!"
Even though she's not looking at him as they have their backs to one another, she can practically hear his eyes roll at her rhetorical question.
But she doesn't get to explain her plan when both of the jaguar-like creatures lunge and it takes all of what strength she has to take the weight of its force against the staff. It's heavy and she barely manages to brace for it. But feline creatures move just as fast as she's able to manage and the second paw comes that she barely manages to angle the staff just enough to block the paw.
However, she isn't quite right and its claws manage to just cut through her clothes that it draws blood.
Yoona winces and thinks of the buff skill that shrouds herself in a brief aura of red.

It's a little soon but she wants to take care of this quickly and before her [Fatigue] becomes a problem.

[EFFECT: "𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐙𝐄": The opponent will be paralyzed at a certain rate.]
[EFFECT: "𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍": Whenever a spell is cast, foes within 25 ft. of the caster will lose 1% of their health per second.]
————— x —————
She pushes back, sending the creature back that it's surprised, unable to find ground at the accelerated speed that comes from [Burn Booster.] The tip of the spear slices through one of its front legs that it cries when it's sent flying into the wall. And in one fluid motion, Yoona turns on her heel with the ease of a dancer to skewer the other that's digging its claws into Adrien's shield, right into its chest.
It reels back with a screech, realizing that this one is the mini-boss when she pulls her spear free to find that there's a red jewel adorning its neck.
"Cover me!"
Adrien tries to read what Yoona commands when she ducks, the other one coming forward from behind her once more with another lunge. He grunts from exertion at the weighted momentum when his shield barely manages to connect with the attacking Alpha. And while he's distracted, Yoona turns to spear the boss creature right into its breast. But it misses the mark of its heart and she braces herself.
Just like its partner did, it rears back with another screech and she pulls her spear back.

[EFFECT: 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐙𝐄 has been activated.] [EFFECT: 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 has been activated.]
[The foe's resistance was too high. The effect(s) was canceled.]
[Fatigue: 39]

Damnit!
Yoona watches as Adrien falters, thinking victory is at hand when the other jaguar creature manifests and pounces. He barely manages to raise his shield in time as he's sent to the ground, barely able to withstand fang and claw as he's pummeled. His health bar rapidly falls when Yoona utters another [Heal].
————— x —————
[EFFECT: 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 has been activated.]
[The foes' resistance was too high. The effect(s) was canceled.]
————— x —————
This immediately draws both of the jaguar creatures attention to her.
Damnit!
Sparing a glance back at Adrien, she finds him knocked out, but alive and breathing with his health in the clear. With his shield resting on his chest, at least, he's mostly protected for the moment that she diverts her attention back to the prowling jaguars.
How did Adrien get knocked out when she healed him to full? What's more, wasn't he just fine moments ago?
Yoona backs away from the two approaching prowling predators as both of their wings shimmer. The hairs on the back of her neck tell her that they're only going to get faster. There's no way that their only attacks as boss creatures are fangs and lunging claws.
She twirls the staff in her hands, making sure they both can see it, but she's vastly outnumbered.
Just as she guessed, their wings shimmer and they both seem to take turns lunging as they begin to bounce off the walls. They become faster and faster and she's not able to block each of their attacks. Each one becomes heavier and heavier that she has a hard time keeping up until she's getting hurt. She can hear her health plummeting.
————— x —————
[EFFECT: 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐙𝐄 has been activated.]
[The foes' resistance was too high. The effect(s) was canceled.]
[Fatigue: 58]
————— x —————
Yoona isn't built to directly take hit after hit like this. And she's getting incredibly tired taking such heavy blows that she can tell if she tried taking any more of a beating, she won't make it. Why are they so fast and somehow, hitting her so goddamn hard ?!
And then, she sees it: her opportunity to break through.
————— x —————
[SKILL: 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐃 has been activated.]
[Your SPEED has increased by 30%.]
————— x —————
They both jump at the same time and she jumps up higher the moment they cross over one another. With one flick of her wrist, she swings the spear clear across the backs of their neck to the bone of where their spine connects their skulls. Instead, she meets resistance as she slices through the fanciful accessories adorning their necks.
But, it's deep enough to cause serious damage that their cries are enough to make her wince. She lands with another flick of the staff-turned-spear and braces herself, not wanting to give the jaguars any room to breathe. Yoona lunges, going after the jaguar on the right as it falters.
"Heal!"
————— x —————
[EFFECT: 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐙𝐄 has been activated.]
[𝐃𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐒𝐒(𝐄𝐒) are paralyzed.]
[EFFECT: 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 has been activated.]
[The opponent will lose 1% health per second.]
————— x —————
Rejuvenation floods her, relieving her of the built up fatigue as she begins to flick through her weapons repertoire to slice through the first winged jaguar. She summons forth an ax and slices through the tendons of their legs; summons a sword to finish the job as she cleanly beheads it; and, summons a claymore to double tap as she downward slices through its heart.
Taking that same claymore, she swings with a force the other winged jaguar isn't prepared for. It isn't able to move as it takes the blade straight through its heart. She sheathes the blade back into her inventory and summons the sword once more to behead the jaguar.
She drops to a knee, dropping the sword down to the ground as she hears pings going off once more.
Finally taking a breath, Yoona returns to standing as she swings her braid back and wipes her brow. She picks up the sword and returns it back into her inventory to draw out a dagger. Yoona is going to earn some money for all of her efforts, otherwise; there's no point in being a hunter. And plus, no one else is here, right?
Well, except Adrien and she pauses before going to the corpses of the creatures.
She makes her way over to Adrien, kneeling beside him to check both his pulse and his breathing. Thankfully, her initial glance at both the health bar and mana bar seem fine and he's not in any danger. But she does feel a small bump at the back of his head that matches the small little icon next to his health bar. Ah, did he fall in a bad way that either conveniently or inconveniently knocked him out?
Yoona isn't sure whether or not she's lucky or not that he didn't see how she took out the dungeon's boss. With a sigh, she decides to leave him be for the moment so she can go ahead and extract the mana crystals. The faster she does this, the sooner they can leave.
Using the knife with the precision and training Yoona gained from med school, she cuts out the crystals and stows them in her inventory. As she does so, all she can think about is how this will finally pay for her schooling and finally, start to get herself out of the negatives. Maybe if there's any extra, she can send some to Jinwoo…
At the thought, she hopes he's doing okay, lifting her gaze up at the sky as though her thoughts would reach him.
— x —
"Of course you'd betray me; I'm weak."
Jinwoo expects this, but color him surprised when Jinho decides to take his side. It didn't take very long for the words he knew were coming from Dongsuk. Is this really how these people are going to do this?
"Have you… ever killed someone before?" Their eyes gleam menacingly as they stalk toward Jinwoo and Jinho.
Jinwoo doesn't even get the chance to properly think of a reaction when the System seems to do it for him as it pings.
————— x —————
[An urgent quest has arrived.]
————— x —————
He flinches, at first, thinking the System is simply acting up, but then he gets blasted into the wall behind him.
That's not what really hurts, but rather the reminder of the anger and disappointment he felt back in the Double Dungeon. The Quest Info screen fizzles, like it's losing signal in comparison to where his mind has gone. Disappointment claws at him, irritated that he forgot. Anger burns inside of him until he feels like yelling at the world.
How?
Somehow, he remembers what Yoona told him before.
" To stay angry? I think you can stay as angry as long as you want ."
" Look, anger is okay, grief is okay, spite is okay ."
How? How? How? How?
HOW?
HOW?
The simple question buries him, enraging him that he's this foolish, this weak STILL to think that he had any kind of trust in another person. He wants to scream, wants to yell, seething in the frustration and helplessness he once had. After all, at the end of all of this, he's at fault.
How could he have…
Forgotten what kind of place this is?
That this place is governed by the strongest, by the "Survival of the Fittest" principle?
His hand grasps hold of the stones next to him, slowly pulling himself out of the rubble as a cool fury washes over him. Jinwoo hasn't been thinking clearly until just now, but he's clear now. After all, time and time again, in all of these dungeons, he's overcome death that he could almost consider it a friend. And yet, he's recovered each time. Going back in despite the possible dangers, he's mistaken that these places were safe.
He was wrong.
The System is telling him, forcing him to commit murder.
They're a THREAT.
Steel steadies his hands when he found that the answer was easy, almost surprised at himself at just how easily he accepted what he's about to do. It's asking him to either kill them or die. Why would it give such an ultimatum if it didn't have something else in store for him? Or perhaps, the system would become complicated if he were to die because he refused to take a life.
This is neither a coincidence nor an act of goodwill and it's obvious now: the System needs him. And what it needs is for him to become strong, to steel himself against all possible foes that he may face in the future. It needs him to be strong.
Jinwoo lifts himself out of the rubble despite the blood covering part of his vision. A cursory glance at his health tells him that they took out just a little under half damage of his total health. That's plenty for what he's going to do now.
Ultimately, the System isn't trying to make him stronger, but rather, he can tell that it simply wants a more powerful version of himself.
Ah, now that he knows what it wants… if the System is going to use him, then he's going to use the System.
He stands and begins walking over toward the murderers.
"Since you guys are playing around with people's lives, I'm assuming that you're also prepared to face the consequences." Jinwoo cracks his knuckles at his sides, energy sparking across his frame in his silent fury. The System is forcing him to quickly accept the fact that these people aren't worth his time, worth the effort of keeping them alive.
"What is this idiot going on about?" asks the one Hunter with a buzzcut.
"Since you call yourselves hunters, I'm asking if you're prepared to become the hunted."
"Dongsuk, I'll take care of him," says a brown haired hunter that has his hair pulled into a ponytail. He approaches Jinwoo with a confident swagger that he even has the nerve of putting his arm around Jinwoo's shoulders.
"Look, man, it seems like you still don't fully understand the situation at hand."
In Jinwoo's right hand, electrical blue lightning flickers as he resummons his dagger.
For one single moment, he thinks of Yoona. Jinwoo thinks of Yoona, a healer, who tries her best to save lives . Yoona, who's becoming a doctor.
And Jinwoo takes his first life with a single flick of his hand.

Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise From The Shadows- Episode 1 Review - Red Gate
Before I start the review, I normally don’t do the“season X, Episode X” sort of thing because I like to start from where it left off. However, given that this season has a ‘Season 2’ in its title and a subtitle, so I’m going to have to use that format for this season. This is technically episode 13.
The first episode of season 2 probably starts off the day after the events of Episode 12. Jinwoo gets a haircut and goes to Jinah’s school for the parent-teacher conference. Since their mother is bedridden, Jinwoo is technically her legal guardian. Her teacher praises Jinah for being a diligent student all around and her grades are good enough to get into the medical school of her choice. However, the teacher is also concerned about her friend Han Song-yi who hasn’t been attending school as she has become an E-rank Hunter. He takes Song-yi on a mission as he’s trying to convince her to not live her life as a Hunter, so we’ll see how that goes.
The rest of the episode is the mission. However, the group gets a surprise encounter with a Red Gate—a special type of gate where dangerous creatures lurk and Hunters can only leave if they defeat the boss. The leader of the group, Kim Chul only takes a few of his guys and separates from Jinwoo, thinking the weaker members will be a liability. Sir, you are not the main character of this story.
Anyways, it was nice seeing the siblings get some screen time together. They only have each other, after all. I like how Jinwoo’s hair was messy when he woke up. It gives off the vibes that even if he looks and acts perfect, there’s still some cute quirks. Though, his new hair does look nice on him. I think Jinah still thinks of Jinwoo as the frumpy man from the beginning, so that’s why she had a hard time getting adjusting to the new and stylish brother.
The mission itself seems like a step up in difficulty from Jinwoo’s other missions up until now. The enemies are a lot more tougher. Ice elves are stealthy and ice bears look menacing. It’s definitely hard for Jinwoo to not show off his skills but in return, the others have to keep a secret. It was nice to see Jinwoo isolating himself from the group and then summoning his shadow army to get rid of the remaining bears. It’s nice to see that they’re mainly used to take down multiple enemies so that it’d be easier to leave the Red Gate faster. Though, for all the skills Kim Chul talked about regarding himself, he ran away from the Ice Elf army which makes sense because they’re tough—to be honest, running away is a solid strategy, but will it get him killed? I guess I have to find out next episode.
Then, there’s the appearance of Hwang Dongsoo. If you don’t remember, he’s the younger brother of Hwang Dongsuk, the man who tried killing Jinwoo and Jinho back around Episode 6. While he’s out to avenge his brother, the Red Gate hinders his progress. I wonder how he’ll be dealt with. Will he get his own arc?
The animation feels like an upgrade from the previous season. The way the characters move feel more fluid, especially during the shadow army scene. I also love the music and feels like it got an upgrade. The opening and ending songs are nice to listen to! You can’t go wrong with a combination of Lisa and TK from Ling Tosite Shigure for the opening and ending.
The characters remain the same from the previous season, so there aren’t that much of new additions. Han Song-yi is voiced by Miyu Tomita, who’s known for voicing characters like Riko from Made in Abyss and Momo’s friend Muko from Dandadan. Kim Chul is voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi who you might have heard in the Fall season as the U-20 goalkeeper in Blue Lock. Park Heejin was actually shown briefly in the first season, but this is her major debut. She’s voiced by Ruriko Aoki. Aoki has a lot of roles in video games, which includes Tressa from Octopath Traveler and Marla from Bravely Default II. That’s about it for new voice actor information from me.
I think this is a good start of the continuation as a brief recap has been given out to keep viewers updated and it’s a good segue to the possibilities of Jinwoo’s quest to become the strongest. How will he get out? Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

Note
you write characters pretty accurately so i was wondering what you think their reaction would be to reading the fanfics people write about them? also love your work💜💜
lol... thanks anon. I mean technically this is a request and I have been deleting them but-
Lookism/HTF react to their fanfics...
Disgusted
Doesn't want to think about it. Doesn't want to go anywhere near it. Leave them alone.
Johan Seong: C'mon, be serious. This edgelord will hate how people depict him. If it's accurate then he will get defensive, if it's not then he will get offended. Fluff, angst, soft, smut, doesn't matter. Does enjoy when Eden and/or Miro makes an appearance though.
Blushing
No interest in reading about it, makes them embarrassed and flustered to know that the fandom thinks about them that way.
+ Daniel Park, Jay Hong, Vasco Tabasco, Jace Park, Lineman, Brad Lee, Jerry Kwon, Han Wangguk
Flattered
Skims over fanfics. In awe, reluctantly impressed.
Jake Kim: Wow they think he's that handsome huh? That much of a green flag? Nice! A little disturbed but chuckles at Jake/Samuel shipping. What will these crazy fans think of next.
Ji Yeonwoo: Would blush but used to the thirst from his Study Newtuber days.
Ryuhei Kuroda: Damnit. Look at all the possibilities if only his dong works properly.
+ Zack Lee, Sinu Han, Eli Jang, Warren Chae, Jibeom Kwak, Jason Yoon, Kim Munseong
Doesn't give a shit
^ what more is there to say.
Samuel Seo: doesn't give a shit until he decides to compare how popular he is next to Jake Kim. And then... wtf! Prepare for another mental breakdown. Jake/Samuel shipping? He hates it. (Hates it less when he's the top though.)
Gun Park: Gives zero fucks. Barely reacts when they mention him as a dom. Well, of course. Have you seen him? Cracks the tiniest smirk when he realises the fandom likes to write Goo as the whiniest mf-ing sub ever.
+ James Lee, Hudson Ahn, Jihan Kwak, Xiaolong, Baek Hangyeol, Seong Taehoon, Lee Jinho, Seo Haesu
Expected, surprised there isn't more.
They have fans, they have ego, they have a reputation. Of course they would expect fanfics of them.
+ Vin Jin, DG, Baek Seongjun
Writes their own
Goo Kim: Excuse me?? Why are there so many Gun simps and so few Goo simps? He doesn't even care how he is depicted.
This degenerate will write whatever to push his numbers up. X reader, canon shipping, him breaking the verse. Anything.
Sinu Han: writes the Jake/Samuel fics
