honestly it's kind of fun to think about the Jinsha lou arc through a YSS/QZ shipping perspective

HEAR ME OUT: I was already lowkey shipping them during the Jinsha introduction arc, during which

One of the workers approaches Qian Zhao, and Yu Shisan politely ushers Qian Zhao away.

and then: after they rescue Qian Zhao, while they are waiting for Ruyi and Jin Meiniang to finish talking, Yu Shisan flirts (yes, I said flirt) with Qian Zhao

Yu Shisan: Qian Zhao gege, have a tangerine

In Chinese, 哥哥 (gēgē) can mean two things: Older brother, or used between couples (kind of like the Korean 'oppa 오빠', which can mean older brother, or in relationships)

Note that Yu Shisan usually addresses Qian Zhao with "lao Qian (老钱)", a sort of nickname convention used between men who are close friends, so his use of "Qian Zhao gege" here is most definitely deliberate

And I was so glad that people on Lofter thought the same way too, I've been deep diving there for AJTL fics and have come across a number of 十三昭 (ShisanZhao) fics.

yes! Someone else is suspicious about Jin Meiniang!! I could be totally off-course but I've been suspicious about her ever since she mislead Ruyi on the identity of Jiu. I know she came back with an explanation on that but..... I found it weak tbh. I don't trust her motives and I have concerns that she is framing truths in a way that are beneficial to her and may not be ultimately for our main characters' good.

idk how far I think it goes but... I find her sketchy and I'm taking everything she says with caution. As established early on: don't believe anything that can't be verified in multiple ways.

I think that deep down baby marquis can be trusted to want the best for his former master - he could be misguided in what that is, and right now he isn't even certain Ruyi is that person... but fundamentally he is not (nor ever intends to be) Ren Xin's enemy. I just cannot say we have any evidence to tell us the same about Jin Meiniang. Maybe she's totally loyal and in earnest on every claim.

But she's getting a lot of trust from Ruyi due to 1 action: saving her from the prision. When we see that ultimately Ren Xin's downfall and absence paid off for her - she's in a better position now and is a boss herself (sure benefited from a couple convenient deaths)... I do hope that she's earnest in wanting to help white sparrows etc etc. Just idk... She sounds too good to be true.
