Marauders era character ships

A look at the most common ships for James, Lily, Snape, Remus, Regulus, Sirius, (Harry,) Peter.

James

Two notable things: 1) Jily dominates from about 2013, when a) it started to be tagged more reliably as a background ship in wolfstar-centric fics and/or b) actually jily-centric fics started moving over from other platforms, and 2) end 2021 catches the beginning of the Jegulus rise.

(Lily shipping is uninteresting, similarly >85% Jily (and ~10% Snily). If there is significant Lily femslash at all it's not apparent until after Dec 2021.)

Snape

Steady decline of Snarry, interesting slow but significant rise of Sevmione over the past ~8-10? years. In terms of total fics, Sevmione overtook Snupin in Feb 2017. Also, Snily overtook Draco/Sev in Feb 2016.

Remus

2006-10 era Snupin popularity [impt caveat that these are probably retroactively posted on AO3 and backdated] is even more obvious here. I love the early years cross-gen Remus shipping (there's some excellent ship manifestos from this era too so that tracks). Skew towards het Remus ships in the mid-2010s is very notable -- as of the last update here in Dec 2021, Snupin had more works than Remadora; it's now (May 2023) the opposite. Wolfstar is really dominating Remus shipping, and I imagine it's only going to be even more dominant post-2021.

Regulus

Regulus/Lucius is such a fun ship & this reminded me that Lucius in general is so underexplored in modern-day Marauders era fandom!

Regulus/Severus has some enduring popularity; that's very interesting!

Vice versa, Jegulus had a relative spike in popularity in mid-2016!

Interesting - there were waves in Regulus/Harry and Regmione in 2019-2020, prior to the rise of modern Jegulus

Also very notable steady rise in Regulus x OC from 2020 onward!

Sirius

Not that much of interest going on in Sirius shipping land. Interesting that rise in Wolfstar shipping was so obvious looking at Remus ships but not so much in Sirius ships. Most interesting thing imo: Sirimione used to be a thing; looks like Sirius/OC has now taken its place.

Harry

it's not very obvious because the colors are so similar, but at some point Rarry (Ron/Harry) and Hinny flip. Hinny has more total fics than Rarry on AO3 from Feb 2013 onwards.

i may or may not have a headcanon of ASC that remus has memories of the the wedding and jily getting together but harry did not go through them yet lol (?)

My Opinions on HP cannon and non-canon ships

Canon

1) Hinny (Harry X Ginny) :- According to me, they are the perfect couples like what we call soulmates. They are polar opposites but still they are similar in so many things. Not being grown up in a family, Harry is awkward and uncomfortable when anything emotional comes and It was only Ginny who can handle him well. Harry never knew family love, With Ginny, He has a really large family which he can call his. They both have had really terrible and intimate experiences with Voldemort so they know what each other might have felt and doesn't go on judging. They balance each other well in a way that it is hard to separate them.

2) Romione (Ron X Hermione) :- The way we can say about their love in one sentence is "Two Imperfect People loving each other in the Perfect way." Their love had had so many hardships and both had undergone really difficult to situations before they found each other. Hermione is bossy and can be annoying at times but It is only Ron who admired her the way she is. He loved her for her flaws when everyone around tried to point them. The same goes with Ron. Being grown up in a family with 5 elder siblings, he was so insecure and It was Hermione and only her who realised this and helped him. Another thing is that They were best friends before turning into lovers and they knew how the other person was so intimately. There was no secrets or anything. They knew each other well. Romione is something which we cannot stop talking about, So I will just end it with They are PERFECT in every ways possible.

3) Jily (James X Lily) :- I personally think that they are a little overrated but that doesn't mean that they are not good together. They are really good and is something what we call "Opposite Attracts". James was the happy-go-lucky cheerful type of guy while Lily was silent and bookish. James loved Lily from the very beginning and never stopped loving her. But his ways, I think, were of a bully. One of the reason James didn't like Snape was because of his closeness with Lily (Although there was other reasons). But one can't deny the way James and Lily Loved each other. It was pure and selfless. Though they are not my OTP but I love them anyways.

4) Remadora (Remus X Tonks) :- I personally, Love this couple a lot but I have noticed that they are often not brought up because of the Wolfstar. Theirs was never the perfect love story but still it was one of the most beautiful ones from the series. I was angry when the films ignored most of their story. The way Tonks loved Remus irrespective of his problems was simply beautiful. I love them so much.

5) Bleur (Bill X Fleur) :- I will say that theirs is the most underrated love story from the whole series. Everyone say the way Tonks loved Remus selflessly but people often forgets that Fleur also did the same. Bill was also attacked by Greyback and had scars on his body but still Fleur didn't stop loving him. Theirs was an unexpected ship because I, personally didn't think that Fleur and Bill would get together. So I think they also deserve the same Remadora appreciation.

6) Snily (Snape X Lily) :- This is not everyone's favourite ship but it's canon and we can't do anything but accept the fact that of Snape never turned towards Dark Arts and didn't call Lily a mudblood, Lily would have definitely reciprocated his feelings at least for some time. I am also not a fan of this couple but I can't turn my back towards Snape's love for Lily. He truly loved her and is one of the best love stories of the book though it didn't end well.

7) Marthur (Molly X Arthur) :- I don't think there's any need to tell anything about them. Of all the couples from the series, theirs is the one with everything we love to see in a love story. They are so good and perfect for each other. And even after so many years into their marriage, Their love didn't grow less instead it grew more and more beautiful. They are those couples who we can call 'CUTE' in all senses.

8) Ravender (Ron X Lavender) :- I don't really like this couple but I can't deny that Lavender truly loved Ron. Theirs was not a healthy relationship. Ron only dated her just to feed his ego when Ginny made fun of him. It was clear that they were not meant to together.

9) Charry (Cho X Harry) :- Cho was Harry's first crush later his love. But she was not the one for Harry. Harry liked Cho only Because of her good looks. She was never the girl Harry would love. Harry was emotionally awkward and Cho only made it high. He didn't know what he should say when Cho cries or shares her traumas. Its like they might have made a good couple if there was no Voldemort drama going on or Harry had a normal life but it was not and Harry did good breaking up with her, I will say.

Non-Canon

1) Harmione (Harry X Hermione) :- As much as I love to see both of them together, I don't think they will make a good couple. They were great as best friends and anything romantic between them would have ruined the beauty of their relationship. The way they were portrayed in the movies were not really them. Movies modified their relationship and degraded Ron's. Hermione is emotionally and girly, opposite to what Harry likes in girls. She is bossy and Harry often argues with her proving her wrong. I won't say they are bad but I think they are just not meant to be.

2) Dramione (Draco X Hermione) :- To be very honest, I have no idea how people ship them and it always amuses me how people say Draco loved her and all. I like Tom Felton and Emma Watson together but they are not Draco and Hermione. Draco never saw Hermione romantically. He bullied her and called her mudblood. He even wished her to die in his second year. There was no way they could end up together. It would have made more sense if you though about Draco and Ginny because he atleast had a crush on her. So I think Dramione is a toxic ship and I never support it.

3) Wolfstar (Remus X Sirius) :- This would have made a good couple if everything was good. I like Remadora more and that is the only reason I don't ship them. I personally think they make a really nice couple.

4) Drarry (Draco X Harry) :- I really have no idea how people made up this ship. They both really can't stand each other and I doubt they won't even make good friends. I don't want to talk more about them. Honestly, I don't like them.

5) Linny (Ginny X Luna) :- I like both of them so much individually but I don't think They make a good couple. It might be because of my obsession with Hinny but anyhow I do not favour this couple.

So, I guess that's it. I know there are more couples but I have chosen only important ones. And There's is SNAMIONE. I don't even want to think about them. It makes me sick. These are my opinions and is not intended to hurt anyone.

Did you ship Hinny before HBP? I just love them and curious how others fall for this beautiful couple. I am asking this to all my favorite Hinny writers. Not only I don’t mind in the slightest, but I’m also absolutely delighted and honored that you included me among your favorite Hinny writers, especially considering how little I’ve actually written about them, despite how much I love this copule and these characters! ^^ I really really appreciate you thinking of me ❤

So, I guess I should start saying that yes, I already was in the (Italian) fandom when HBP was published ^^ Before then, I already liked the idea of Harry getting with Ginny, but more in a “yeah, that would be cool” way than in the “omg when are they going to get together!!!” way I was waiting for Romione. 

While I shipped Romione a lot since GoF, I hand’t really thought about Harry’s possible new love interest until one of my fellow Romione shippers invited me to join the Hinny forum as well. I have to admit that at the beginning I wasn’t that invested in the idea because to me it seemed “too simple”, narratively speaking, to get them together and have this lovely quartet and a big happy Weasley family (not to mention the fact that Ginny had had a crush on him). But then again, I loved Harry and Ginny relationship during OotP, with those iconic moments like the “Lucky you” and the “If you’ve got enough nerves”, and rereading got me more invested – I was curious to see where it was going, also because I realised that to me Ginny and maybe Luna were the only papabile female “candidates” for Harry, since I considered Hermione definitely out of the game on that matter. 

I still didn’t really *love* them at that point (Romione and Jily were a firm step ahead) but I did read HBP shipping for them.

And then I read HBP... and that’s when I really started to love them! I think the things that made me love them the most were how happy and comfortable Harry was around her, and how good Ginny was at understanding him and supporting him/calling him off when he needed it, and how he needed it.

I’d say that for a while they stayed a (at that point very tiny) step behind Romione and Jily, maybe also because there weren’t many fanfictions about them in the Italian fandom, afaik, but then one day I started daydreaming a post-DH scenario from Harry’s perspective*, and I absolutely fell in love with them, to the point that now they’re my favorite HP couple. I arrived in the english fandom looking for Jily’s stories, I stayed because of the Hinny’s ones ^^

* I’ve actually also written part of it, but 1) I haven’t touched it in... I think a couple of years (even if I still daydream about it); 2) none of it is translated in English; 3) I’ve only ever posted the first 3 chapters of the Italian version (because they’re the day after the battle); 4) I have to completely rewrite big parts of it that no longer fit my headcanons / that I realised don’t work and 5) I wouldn’t post it before it’s completed ^^ There is an epilogue part that tells in snippet about James’s birth, and I have considered posting it on its own, but it’s not going to happen soon anyway... We’ll see ^^

Hmm…I’m quite fond of all hp canon characters - this weekend my little cousin and I discussed hp and came to the agreement that the series is exceptionally good in terms of world-building (I very much believe that it’s one of the main reasons behind the popularity of hp fandom) - so when it comes to canon hp I used to look at it as two interconnected parts “books+characters” - so it is safe to say that to some degree I enjoy all the characters and have no favourites. 

re: couples

Same, though I must say that at this moment (I read hp books in 2003!!) I prefer different AUs and Canon Divergence;

When you grow up, your preferences with regard to different ships begin to change - for instance, I used to adore JIly - I think I read SWM more times than I could count - but now I’m quite neutral to them.

What now - I’ve never been into Hinny but blvnk hinny sketches are soooo good (Without doubts the girl is very talented) that now I’d say that I’m very much for them. Also several times I mentioned that I’m not against dramione at all - their relationship has an interesting dynamic. All in all,  I must admit that things I like now have one similarity - they drift from original books pretty far.

So, as many of our followers are probably aware, we recently did a survey to get a feel of what people thought of our blog. We got a total of 57 results and we are grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Now, we’re here to share the general consensus of what people thought and how we will accommodate these opinions.

We’ll definitely have some changes to the blog, so read on to see what those changes are!

Before we begin, we have a few things to briefly mention.

The results are pretty scattered. We didn’t want to restrict anyone, so most were free response or included “Other”. In hindsight, there were a few questions that could have easily been multiple choice without really restricting anyone. (Side eyes the first question.) Therefore, most of these will just summarize the results we got. Occasionally drop the graph for the multiple choice questions.

Because of the large amount of responses we got, not every answer will be listed here. We highlighted the things that were either most commonly mentioned or had us thinking the most.

Our original quotes often don’t have sources. But if there’s one where a mod forgot to credit a source, please just message us and one of the admins will fix that!

Yeah, we’re working to fix that. I like pretty blogs too.

“Could be updated a little more.”

Strangely enough, we got this a few times but our later poll about how often to post were contradicting this. So, unfortunately, we will not be adjusting this.

We’re sorry you feel that way. We always put it in the tags, just in front of the source. We are more of a mod-based blog rather than a submission-based blog. Anyone is welcome to submit, but about 98% of our posts are created by our mods.

We can assure you our mods put a lot of thought into what characters to use, but you are welcome to message us with your own suggestion! (But please note that we are a Marauders blog; we got a few comments about how we don’t post enough Hinny or Romione, but that’s not what our blog is about.)

(We got this a few times. ”Like the type of blog and incorrect-marauders was the first one Harry potter themed I found,” also, “Its really funny and pretty much the only blog that just does this kind of post and i LOVE it.” But alternatively... “There are a lot of textpost blogs like it, but it is one of the only ones that I have found that consistently keeps characters in character in the posts and appeals to my sense of humor.”)

How often should we post?

We got a lot of variety here. Some say once a day (which is how often we currently post) was ideal. Others put stuff like...

“I wouldnt mind my entire blog just being filled with your posts.”

While Once A Day is the most voted for, the rest of the options put together, which we’ll name Two or More Times a Day, do win overall. Since we have one new post followed by a reblog, we’ll compromise by posting two times a day, but with one new post a day (the second being a reblog).

In UTC, what times do you prefer us posting?

As expected, not many people cared. But two people felt very strongly and voted for 12am, 1am, and 6pm UTC. So, we’ll consider that.

What characters, relationships, universes, etc. would you like to see more represented in our posts?

We got a lot of responses here, primarily being more Wolfstar, Jily, and BFFs James and Sirius. We also got a lot saying we should post about Hinny, Romione, next gen, FBAWTFT, etc. in which I remind you that this is a Marauders blog.

We also got the hilarious response that said we should maybe post about the “merauders”. Well, we can certainly promise you that.

We also got a lot of people saying more McGonagall. That’s something we can definitely do.

Would you like to see more original quotes from us?

For the longest time, the option 50/50 was at exactly 50%. Kind of disappointed that is no longer, but the 25% option is at 25%, so that’s something. Anyway, we’ll aim for 50/50.

What else would you like to see us post?

This was one of the results that will make the biggest change to the blog. People seem to really love these ideas. So expect...

Marauder Mondays! Every Monday we’ll have Marauder Monday, where we’ll answer asks, reblog posts, and have a party! Probably when we’ll post the “extra” posts, like our GIFs, graphics, aesthetics, videos, etc.

How would you feel if we did sponsored posts?

Combined, it seems like ~75% of those who took the survey are good with sponsored posts.

These results honestly surprised us. We’ve gotten a lot of offers of sponsorships in the past but have always denied them because we didn’t know how our followers would feel. We probably won’t do this in the near future, but it’s an option.

What kind of projects would you like to see us host?

We got so many people suggesting merch. Shirts, stickers, pins, other merch... So we’ll keep that in mind! We’d love some Marauders shirts ourselves.

⋆ here, my top 1 = Together (it felt so good to mix different people from all ages, ethnies, genders, and personalities. Huff x Slyth relationships are amazing, I consider them as having a very strong bonding chance. tbh, I was really emotional when I wrote it. the feelings varied according to the situation, i tried to put some fear, angst, fluff, brotherhood love, friendship, loyalty, courage, etc. i actually avoided romantic feelings, because when ppl think about a relationship, the first thing that comes to mind is romatic love. i wanted it to be different. the ending also, one of the only ones i’m proud of. i had a lot fun looking for names that reflect the personality of my ocs, and i tried to pick them from different cultures. i have so much more to say about this text actually XD)

⋆ mmm… my fav story I’ve ever written probably is a Spanish one (if anyone wants to read it: https://alicecreativitycorner.wordpress.com/2017/12/04/querida-julieta/#more-189), about Xmas love and a travelling letter. I’m going to annoy y’all with the plot: 

cold winter morning in the toy factory of the North Pole

elves are finishing the gifts and all

close up on a special department of the industry, where two elves (Elf Lazy and Elf Clumsy, you guess the thing here) work on Xmas letters, sent to the ppl that didn’t ask for toys. 

obviously, a letter gets lost in the sea of similar envelops before the elves can precise the right address (there’s only the name of the city and street) 

it gets sent

the letter is for a girl named Juliet

turns out the envelope reaches the right Street on Xmas Eve

the mailman does not know to whom he needs to deliver it

he opens it to check for any details that may help him (for the sake of this childish story, this is not a malevolent violation of privacy, the mailman is in good faith)

the beginning of the letter adresses Juliet (obviously) and it tells her about her dad, and the wish she has to spend more time with him

the mailman has a daughter named Juliet, and though he knows this is not for her (not their street) he feels guilty to be working on Xmas Eve

too occupied calling his daughter to take care of the letter (which, as it is from Santa Claus’ Factory, is enchanted to just catch your attention in the point that regards you the most), the mailman lets it fly away

it gets read by an old woman, parents from a busy family, an egocentric business man, an old and closed man, a lesbian girl

they all solve a problem in their life thanks to a specific paragraph of the letter

the letter reaches Juliet, and it’s about a boy she really likes, and it gives her the courage to talk to him

Juliet gets out in the street, it’s snowing, and she is happy to see all her neighbors enjoying and spending time tgt (something that had never happened) 

final part: Juliet looked down at the letter she still held in her hands and smiled: these few lines on the spoiled, smeared, greasy, wet paper that smelled of cinnamon inspired her a very peculiar feeling. She did not know why, but her heart told her that it was the cause of so much agitation in this usually empty street. After all, it was Christmas and, although she did not believe much in it, it was the time of magic and miracles.

rereading this made me cry bc there are so many things I would change, but I wanna keep it as innocent as I first wrote it

Anon, after writing this, I actually want to thank you so much. Thinking about my favorite writing stuff made me feel incredibly good, and motivated. It also somehow boosted my confidence (I tried to make it as “I think high of myself” as possible, because I have serious self-love problems, and this is what my doctor advised, so plz tell me if I’ve been too narsissic, i’m still new at this stuff XD)

my all-time ultimate fave character: Laurel Lance

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: I hated Quentin at first, and I lot of stuff he did/does I still don’t like but I’ve grown to appreciate his complexity and his dynamics with Laurel and Oliver. Of course now that Laurel’s dead he has like nothing to do so it’s just stupid.

a character I used to like but now don’t: Felicity was cute s1...she got on my nerves pretty quickly after that, though. I hate what Diggle has become. Like just look at him s1 compared to now and it’s just sad. I miss when Diggle was his own character.

a character I’m indifferent about: Can I just say any of the new recruits? Like, I just don’t care about any of them. At all. I didn’t start the show for them, I started for GA and BC, why is this so hard for the showrunners to grasp? I’m also pretty indifferent towards Sara, no lie. She’s just kind of there and then not and then there again. She drifts into the story and out and doesn’t really seem to have all that lasting of an impact. I mean she can literally be plucked from the timeline because she’s apparently of little enough importance history won’t miss her. And it totally undermined the whole “journey” aspect of characters when we met her and she was just insta-badass straight out of her new s2 packaging, now with 100% more blonde, some reshooting required. Maybe if they’d bothered to show her training--but that would have required them to actually show a wlw relationship and not just the angsty post-breakup stage so that wasn’t gonna happen. Like I don’t necessarily hate her but I don’t like her much either. She’s just kind of meh to me.

a character who deserved better: DINAH. LAUREL. LANCE.

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: O/F, Oliver/Sara, and lowkey Nyssa/Sara - Nyssa was always so much more invested than Sara from her first appearance to her last. Like you got her going on and on about her “beloved” and then Sara’s flirting it up and kissing people throughout time and space, the heck am I supposed to do with that? Also I haven’t liked Thea/Roy ever since Roy ditched her after sleeping together and left no forwarding address. Dick move, dude.

a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Lauriver, dear god, the beauty and the tragedy will haunt me forever

a cute, low-key ship: I liked Oliver and McKenna, I won’t lie. Moira and Walter were tragic but precious. Also if Tommy had lived I could’ve seen him and Helena having an interesting thing don’t judge me.

an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: Non-canon but I’m gonna go Lauryssa. Also Constantine/Oliver.

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: O/F, when will these writers learn that ship destroyed both those characters

my favourite storyline/moment: I’m in that rare minority that loved s1 so much more than s2. S2′s where it started going wrong, the fridging women left and right, Slade’s shitty motivation for being bad--he’s a mercenary, for fuck’s sake, it does not need to be about a woman he loved and lost, it’s not complicated--retconning the flashbacks left and right, but s1 was so good. Also loved Laurel becoming BC though I never got why the writers needed to start her off at square one when they showed she could fight the previous two seasons.

a storyline that never should have been written: Basically the entire s4 plot. Magic and nukes are not GA’s thing. Also killing BC on a GA show is such bs. Real GA would have rather seen himself killed first.

my first thoughts on the show: Ok, this is interesting! The fight scenes are good, I want to see how these characters become more like their comic book counterparts.

my thoughts now: Well that sucked.

my all-time ultimate fave character: Oh man, how can you do this to me? TOO MANY, OKAY? I HAVE TOO MANY.

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Dudley is so much more interesting after book 7. I like the idea that he finally started to realize that his parents and their abuse towards Harry was shit. I know JKR decided to not give Dudley a magic child in the epilogue, but I wish she had. It would have been so nice to see Dudley break the cycle of abuse in the Dursley family once and for all by loving and supporting his kid no matter what.

a character I used to like but now don’t: I don’t know if I dislike him necessarily but I definitely don’t like him the way I used to as a kid - okay, yeah, it’s Dumbledore. I mean he is soooo complex, and that’s a good thing. But a lot of the stuff he did? Not cool.

a character I’m indifferent about: Basically a lot of the OCs that masquerade in fics as barely-mentioned students. It’s fine if you wanna use them, but it’s weird to me when people start purporting their characterizations of them as fact if that makes sense? To that end, I’m also mostly indifferent about all the next gen kids with the exception of Teddy (there’s just a lot there to his character that would be so interesting to unpack - why was Cursed Child not about Teddy Lupin with a better plot gdi).

a character who deserved better: So many characters tbh. Ginny Weasley deserved better from both JKR and all y’all. JKR promised an awesome moment having to do with her being the seventh child of a seventh child (Arthur) and then never delivered. Fandom is shitty to her because she gets in the way of their ships (like especially H/HR and H/D shippers seem to love to demonize a teenage girl in their fics, just saying) and because they seem to think Hermione is enough female rep which is such bs. Ron also deserves soooooo much better from fandom. So, so much better. Hagrid deserved to have one of Harry’s kids named after him. Sirius Black just deserved a better life. Snape deserved not to be abused as a child. Harry deserved like basically everything better. The Weasleys deserved not to be poor - do you see where I’m coming from here???

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: A lot of the non-canon ones (H/HR - she’s like a SISTER to him, he LITERALLY SAYS; H/D - It’s implied in that bathroom fight scene Draco was about to use the CRUCIATUS CURSE like WTF also he’s just kinda shitty to Harry and his friends almost the entire series just saying). Obviously if you wanna write AUs where things are completely different, that’s up to you, but they’re just not for me.

a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Jily, Hinny, Romione

a cute, low-key ship: Deanmus is the gay/bi rep we deserved, not unhealthy and possibly one-sided Dumbledore/Grindelwald. I feel like in book 5 at least Luna might’ve had a thing for Ron which is kind of adorable. Although I also like Ginny/Luna. Also I lowkey think Harry might’ve had a crush on both Cho and Cedric at the same time. Teenage years suck.

an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: I mean Romione seems to be unpopular with a lot of fandom but I love it so sucks to suck

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: I’m pretty much ok on all the canon ships. I mean I wish JKR hadn’t tried to push this whole “Snape loved Lily” thing. More like “Snape was obsessed with Lily and never got over her”.

my favourite storyline/moment: ahhhhh I don’t know, maybe Ron coming back to save Harry and destroy the Horcrux.his insecurities? Such a great moment for his character, and his and Harry’s friendship. I also just love how Harry’s whole outlook on life completely brightened up in HBP during the time he was dating Ginny. It was so lovely to see him happy for once. And I love all of book three, it is my favorite. Also the Moody-is-really-Barty Jr. twist remains one of the greatest of All Time and the movies ruined it but I digress.

a storyline that never should have been written: Like I’m not saying it shouldn’t have been written, I just don’t like how Snape’s backstory has given rise to this idea that he did Nothing Wrong, Ever and it was Lily’s fault for ending the friendship that he turned to the Dark Side. Like fuck off, he was already there and it was not her job to be his “savior” when he sure as hell didn’t want saved. Also all the movies. Damn you, Kloves.

my first thoughts on the show books: This is such a great story and world! I love the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next! (or something along those lines - I was young, okay?)

my thoughts now: While there’s certainly plenty of issues (lack of rep for many marginalized groups, for example) it still holds up as a really strong series. Must resist temptation to begin yet another reread.
