𝐃𝐘𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋 . 𝐉𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐒 (aka Jill the Ripper)
This is kind of a very specific dynamic call, maybe it's more of a wishlist? I'd love to explore a family dynamic with Jill, specifically with Jill as a mother. I'm happy with her being the adoptive mom or the birth mom of your muse. Jill is a psychiatrist (and secretly a serial killer who kills abusive men/husbands), so if you'd like your muse to have a psychiatrist/serial killer mom, like or comment on this post and I'll message you to plot!
#click on her name to read her bio btw!#i'll reblog this a bit throughout the day!#this is for all my mutuals whether we have dynamics/threads or not!#ooc#dynamic call#jill (i break the high and mighty)

Jill looked around her office, a polite -but puzzled- expression on her face.
“Then what are you doing here, sir?”

Looking over her shoulder Jill caught Juno’s eyes. Their gaze move low and then at the bottle she held. They look tired, but they gave her an encouraging smile as if to say what are you waiting for.. Jill twist the top off with a flick and held it out for Juno.
[Jill lost the bottle of brandy]
They smirk and took it. Without a word Juno brought it up to her lips and drank from it, heavily too. “Fuck.. I needed that.” Juno reach out to give the bottle back to Jill while giving a nod to invite her to take a seat next to her. “Thanks.”
With the bottle in hand Jill walk up to Juno and took a seat near them on the floor. Jill rest her back against the desk Juno was seated on and chuckle. “Assumed we could use a drink.” Jill drink slower than the other woman, but she took a hefty amount. The brandy was strong enough to force a groan out of her. God, that’s strong. Jill rarely drank anything stronger than beer or wine. “Deserved a break too.” Jill lean on Juno’s leg to brush it with her shoulder for a playful nudge.
The silence fell after a laugh as the bottle exchange hands again. A minute pass, maybe a minute or a half. “So..” Juno let the word drag and linger. “What do you do with your free time?” The question made it feel like they were on a blind speed date, trying desperately to learn the most of each other before the time runs out. Well, it would have felt just like a blind date alone if not knowing the situation they were in and how they were wasting time.
Jill raise her arm to signal that she want a sip. “Jogging..” She felt somewhat embarrassed for giving that answer. The police work didn’t leave much free time and her hobby wasn’t that interesting. “Jogging and drinking.” She add. “Ever been to Bar Jack?” Jill took another gulp.
“Wow, you are boring.” Juno chuckle and grin as they look down on Jill. They took the bottle from her and drink up. “Visit there once, not really my kind of place. I prefer Jack’s bar.”
What.. “Right, that’s what I said? Bar Jack.” Jill turn to look up at Juno who was in the middle of taking a gulp. They didn’t stop drinking, but gave Jill a confused side-eye. With a loud groan Juno gave up on trying to down the whole bottle alone. She gave it back to Jill who now sit on the floor facing Juno and leaning back on her arms.
“Yeah? I said I prefer Jack’s bar.” With the bottle out of her hands Juno didn’t really know what to do with them so she simply lean forward and rest them on her thighs. Juno’s gaze was fixed on her eyes, but it start to move lower until Jill spoke up again after she was done drinking.
“What are you talking about? I’m a regular there and I have never seen you before.” Jill finish what she had to say just before it click with her. She took a deep breath and let it out. I made a fool of myself.. That thought was only made stronger by the smirk Juno had. “Oh, I’m sorry.” Jill laugh and felt her cheeks burn. “Right, Jack’s bar... At the edge of the town, not the Bar Jack in uptown.” People often confused the two places with the similar names, but Jill hadn’t done that mistake in years. She was already feeling the effects of the booze. Embarrassed over her mistake Jill seek comfort from the bottle before giving it back to Juno again. “So what do you do when you aren’t drinking?”
Juno kept quiet for a while, now their eyes linger on Jill’s body. “Computer coding mainly.” Her gaze had Jill move her feet in a way that cause her to lift her skirt just slightly. “When I’m not sweating at the construction site that is..” Juno trail off for a bit flexing just subtly enough for it not to feel like showing off, but after realizing she was staring Juno went for what she had propably been thinking for a while now “You know, you are kinda hot for a cop.”
Biting her lip Jill look away and chuckle. “Right..” She took one last gulp from the bottle and gave it back for Juno to finish. Jill shook her head and still avoid their gaze not able to say it while watching the other in the eye. “I’m not a cop anymore.” Jill confess, the guilt sting in her heart for leading Juno on to believe she was still part of the force. “You don’t read the news much, do you?” It had been on the front page when the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members had been suspended and ridiculed in August with the exception of Brad who kept his head down and mouth shut unlike the rest of them after the mansion incident.
“Not really.” The answer was given with a sly grin before Juno brought the bottle up to her lips once more. She sway the bottle in her hand while giving it a quick glance before looking back at Jill. Her grin went wide “Pretty shitty of you to pretend to be a cop if you ain’t one, Jill.” Juno raise her leg and press her boot gently against Jill’s shoulder, but she add strength as she talk. “Did you do it to feel high and mighty, bossing me around like that?”
Jill lean back under the pressure. “No..” She breath out as she was forced lower towards the ground. “I did it because I need your help.” Jill tried to reason for giving a half truth. “I’m sorry, I should have told you the tru-” Her apology end midway as she felt Juno’s boot slide lower. It press hard against her chest and cause Jill to gasp and look up at Juno in shock. They move it low and then brought it back to flick at her nipple with the toe of her boot. It had Jill bite her lip to swallow the moan that tried to get out despite the teasing being done through the cloth of her top. Humiliating.. The overwhelming shame wash over her like a warm wave. It feels good. Jill felt like she deserve to be slapped for lying to Juno. “I’m sorry, Juno.” She tried to apologize. This isn’t enough.
Juno grinned as she continued to tease the other woman with her boot, stealing one last drink from the bottle before setting it aside. "I wouldn't blame you if you did..." The toe of her boot flicked across the covered nipple once more as she leaned back on the desk, sneaking a peek down towards the others skirt. "But if you're really shorry... Maybe we can come to an agreement for your apology."
Jill continued to bite her lip, holding back the loudness of her moan as she was teased through her top. It feels rough... She closed her eyes and attempted to focus on her breathing to calm herself down enough to answer the tease sitting over her. "Let me guess... We have a bit of fun with you bossin' me around?"
The smile on the mechanic’s face grew as she gave a quick upward flick with her boot against the others breast, nodding once as she readjusted her feet and brought them away from the former officer, keeping them spread as they hit the floor again, presenting herself to Jill. "That's a good guess! I promise I'll be far nicer than the other cops if they caught you snooping around here dressed like that." She picked up the bottle and passed it back over to Jill as she shook her head, muttering under her breath as Jill took it from her. "Should have seen it coming though... You're dressed more like a hooker than a cop with that tube top and miniskirt."
Jill shrugged and took a final drink before setting the mostly empty bottle down between them. There wasn't much left, but those last few drops of liquor on her tongue were enough. She shifted slightly, her skirt rising more now as she glanced around the room. It was safe here... We have time.
"You know... The hookers that dress like you tend to flash their cunts just by breathing." Juno chuckled as she tried to sneak a peek under the skirt once more. "You do that lately, or just wear it for a quick fuck at Bar Jack?"
Jill rolled her eyes and laughed despite herself. "Maybe I have. Not a cop any more, but it's not like you've got room to talk." She reached up and pinch the obvious nipple poking through Juno’s top. "White tank top, no bra, daisy duke style denim shorts? How did you keep their hands off you when you walked through the door?" Jill thought that the most of the police were good people, but she knew the ones Juno dealt with weren’t one of them.
Now it was Juno's turn to bite her lip as she barely contained a moan. "E-easy.... I leveraged my skills to buy time. Knew the station needed work and told 'em it wasn't coming... Heh... coming..." She laughed as she leaned in closer to Jill, letting her hand cup her breast through her top. "Help wouldn't be coming any time soon, and if they tried anything, I'd fry the places circuits in a heartbeat." She winked as she eased herself down from the desk, practically crawling between Jill's legs as one hand caressed her thigh, easing its way up to her crotch, while the other rested on her shoulder, their faces coming within inches of each other, smelling the booze coming from both of them with each breath.
The already quite dark room seemed to grow eerily quieter as Juno inched closer, mashing her lips against Jill’s in the same moment her fingertips found Jill's crotch, tracing the outline of her sex with some eagerness before sliding the first digit in. "No panties, huh? Bold choice.”
“N-Not by choice..” Jill’s ragged breath came out with a stuttering moan. Seeing Juno’s questioning look she realized that they were wondering if it had been because of the less respectable survivors or the infected. To prevent that trail of thought going forward Jill kiss Juno again, eagerly and passionately. Their erratic breathing fill the silence and their breasts heave against each other with each heavy breath. The finger sink deep, there was no denying how wet Jill had become from all of this. Their nipples brush and tease the others through their clothes as they lost themselves in the kiss.
After a heated moment Juno shove Jill flat against the ground by her shoulder while straddling them. “Fhuck.. You are amazing.” The drunken compliment had the woman underneath look to the side embarrassed, yet the way Jill grind their hips to get more of the finger inside of them spoke louder than the avoidance. Juno couldn’t help but to add another. “I always wanted to fuck a cop, you know?” They confess as they start to move their fingers slowly and lean over Jill, but not to focus on her but instead try to reach for something from their tool box with their free hand. “Something about taking an authority down a peg just gets me off.”
“R-Really?” Jill chuckle before biting her lip to keep her voice down. She was starting to be too eager and to avoid further humiliation Jill tried to resist her urge to submit fully or the very least not to give the full satisfaction of taming her just yet. “Gh.. Guess you aren’t the only one.” She imagine it to be a common fantasy and in a way it was a shared one, though right now Jill fill the role of the one who was taken down.
“Give me your hands.” The request was said as Juno took a grip of Jill’s arm. They had a black Electrical tape which would soon bound Jill by her wrists if she allowed it. The sensible side of her did every argument why this was a bad idea. How she couldn’t trust a stranger she had met only a moment before, how the alcohol cloud her judgement and how defenseless she would be, but Jill didn’t listen to any of it. When Jill offer her hands to be taped Juno grin. “You are such a slut.” As Juno pull her fingers out to have Jill gasp when the tape was wrapped around her wrists to secure them together. “Now be a good girl, alright?” Juno guide Jill to stretch her arms above her head.
This is so wrong... “S-Shit.. Wait a moment.” Jill rarely curse, but seeing how Juno pull out a crescent spanner and press it against her cheek to slowly slide it toward her lips warrant her to do so. Why I humiliate myself so easily? That question linger in her mind as the end of the spanner push past her lips. She suck on it and lick it, staining it with her saliva and then even gag on it as Juno push it just slightly too deep down her throat before pulling it away. Jill was left panting with a trail of drool connecting her open lips with the spanner Juno still held just inches away from her face. “What are you gonna do with that?”
“Cops always have a stick up their ass, Jill.” Juno lean down to kiss Jill’s neck before whispering. “Seem you drop yours so I have to give it back.” It was a perverse way of complimenting Jill. It imply that Juno thought Jill to be friendlier than the other cops, one Juno didn’t detest.
Jill tried to catch Juno’s lips when they were still leaning over her, but they sit back up too fast for her to kiss them again. Stop teasing me.. It frustrate her to no end. Humiliated and without control of anything Jill felt more vulnerable, yet the drunken lust that had took over both women gave her comfort. “Please.. D-Do it slowly.” Her voice broke just slightly upon feeling anxious as Juno press the lubed end of the spanner against her ass. They did it slowly. Slowly enough for Jill to feel every inch of the cold steel sink into her anal. It was impossible to stay still even with Juno on top of her. So hard.. And long. Oh god.
“You okay?” There was a pause. The spanner was half way inside when Juno ask the question. They got a barely audible “Y-Yeah.” as an answer as it was overshadowed by Jill’s panting breaths. Her chest heave up and down along with the erratic rhythm of it. The confirmation and the way Jill seem to enjoy having it up her ass was enough for Juno to continue to press the spanner deeper inside. Juno got to enjoy the sight of the policewoman squirm underneath her. “You are so hot like this.” It was too much for her not to touch herself. As Juno push the spanner deeper she grope her breasts, then struggle to unbutton her shorts and finally finger herself desperately on top of Jill. Only when just the crescent end of the spanner was poking out of Jill did Juno notice how Jill’s feet were already trembling with a stream of her juices staining her thighs. “Holy fuck. You loved it that much, huh?”
Stick up my ass... Cumming... The orgasm had hit Jill so suddenly that she hadn’t even reacted to it by moaning. A silent orgasm ripple through her body as she felt the whole world whirl around her, the druken haze had Juno’s figure become somewhat foggy in her gaze until they lean down to kiss her again. “Shorry..” How could she come so easily? Was it the humiliation that got her off so hard that she came from it alone or had something else change? Those questions linger her mind for a moment, but Jill eagerly push them aside to focus on what mattered to her more. “Let me please you.” Jill whispered and as an invitation left her lips parted.
“Ah.. N-Not yet.” Juno’s hand still hold on to the spanner, gently rotating it to have its full length scrape Jill’s anal, while her other hand was busy in her shorts. “I want more and I bet you do too.” Saying that had Juno moan as her fingers dig deeper into her cunt, even through the cloth Jill could hear the squelching sound of Juno’s fingering. “Stay down.. Just like that.” For a long time Juno stay on top of Jill, just pleasuring herself and getting off to the sight of the cop underneath her as she straddle them. Sometimes there was a need to shove Jill back down whenever she tried to push off the floor either to kiss or try to reach for Juno with her taped hands. After a few minutes Juno let go off the spanner leaving it stuck in Jill’s ass in favor of sliding both her hands in her shorts. Juno grind herself against Jill’s waist and lower stomach with growing intensity until she made herself cum. Juno threw her head back to let out a strained string of moans with her shorts stuffed with both of her hands and fingers deep in her pussy.
Jill tremble as she felt the weight of the eggs shift in her stomach. Her mouth twist from unnatural sensation as she bit her lower lip to stiffle a moan while drool leak from the corner her mouth. Juno grind herself against the eggs, too drunk and lost to pleasure to notice them within Jill’s stomach. “Grhk..” Jill groan and came once more, this time moaning in unison with her partner. The silence fell once more. Only their heavy breathing was heard. “You.. You are gorgeous.” Still panting Jill spoke her mind staring up at Juno who slowly regain their composure after the climax.
“Fhuck..” Cursing Juno let her head drop back down. She caught Jill’s eyes and she laughed. “Flattery won’t save you.” It sound like a threat, but it was one that left a smile one Jill’s lips. When Juno got up on her feet she first stumble and fell to her knees beside Jill, but the second attempt gave her enough time to take off her shorts. She lack panties, the same as Jill.
The eggs in Jill’s stomach settle down when Juno’s weight wasn’t pressing nor actively grinding against them. Felt strange a-and good... She had to resort to flattery trying to focus on something else than what grew inside of her. Jill chose to ignore what had cause her to cum for the second time. She willfully move on to whatever pleasures wait her next in the humiliating care of her dominating partner. The drunken lust was just too easy to slip into and Jill let it take her. She surrender to Juno to let go and forget everything. It felt comforting.
“You better serve me well, cop.” Juno went on all fours to whisper into Jill’s ear before turning around to face the other way. Juno back up to sit on Jill’s face, pressing her dripping cunt tightly against her mouth. She could hear and most of all feel Jill mumble something, maybe it was a protest or a praise, but Juno couldn’t make it out as she was too busy enjoying the sensation of Jill’s tongue and lips brushing against her pussy. That mumbling died down in favor of active servitude that had Juno bite her lip hard. She immediately start to grind herself against Jill’s face while letting out a moaning laughter. “Yh- You have the right to remain silent, but I doubt you will.”
Barely able to see anything from underneath Jill slip into a drunken trance. She lap at Juno’s pussy to drink up while trying to hold her breath. The back of Jill’s head got constantly slid across and hit the floor with what little movement the position allowed. “MGHh..?!” Jill’s squealing was loud only to her as it was muffled by Juno pressing hard down on her. The spanner was pulled on and it almost slip out of her ass before its full length was shoved back in. Then the motion repeat again and again with a furious speed. While Jill desperately eat Juno out they fuck their ass with the spanner. It slid in and out, twist and turn, ravaging her ass with erratic movements that had her squirm and her feet kick around aimlessly. The struggle to escape it only had Jill exhaust herself and with her arms taped together there was no chance of a success. All she could do was to lick that pussy.
Giving a tired laugh Juno fully flip Jill’s skirt out of the way and then lean down to lick Jill. Her hand got tired from fucking the cop’s ass with the spanner so she tried to compensate the loss of speed by fingering her and eating Jill out. In 69 the two women moan endlessly. Shuddering from the pleasure given by the other’s tongue, though only the one underneath truly tremble from the ordeal. Juno close her eyes and groan “D-Don’th dare to stop..” She had made Jill cum at least twice by fucking their ass and licking their pussy before the ever more tired efforts of Jill manage to bring Juno to the edge. “C-Cumming..!!” Her grip at the crescent of the spanner tighten until her knuckles became white and Juno was unable to keep pleasing Jill as her mouth was now too occupied releasing erratic breaths and moans that announce her orgasm.
What Juno didn’t do was to stop grinding her cunt against Jill’s face as they ride out their orgasm. Their juices stained Jill’s chin and lips, even drip down her cheeks and coat her nose. Juno’s scent and taste was all Jill could think about. It intoxicated her more than the drink they had shared. The taste of arousal was what soothe Jill to give in to her exhaustion. Her tongue stop licking them, it felt almost sore after doing it for so long. Her eyelids felt heavy. As she start to slip into darkness Jill felt Juno’s weight slid off from top of her to lay on their side beside her being just as exhausted as Jill was. Still Juno’s hand rest on Jill’s stomach, caressing her gently until both women drift into a dreamless sleep.

Maybe a drabble with Jill telling Nicholai: “Looks like there’s someone else I hate more than you. Go figure.”?
I hope I did this some justice nonny! You gave me a good challenge 💙
Despite the horrors she faced, Jill couldn’t get Murphy’s cold slaughter out of her mind. She couldn’t for the life of her understand how someone like Nicholai had the capacity to shoot his comrade point blank with no hesitation.
There was a chance Murphy had been infected, but Jill vowed to not lose her humanity in the war against bioweapons. Jill figured if she could survive the mansion incident, she could survive whatever was going on in Raccoon City. On her terms and as herself. Not an empty shell that used to be a competent cop.
Every time she ran into a zombie, or shot down a bio-organic weapon, she couldn’t help but envision Nicholai’s face taking the place of the undead. There was a seed of hatred growing in the pit of her stomach towards the man. Biases are damned, Jill knew the guy was sleazy. Everything about him screamed he was up to no good. She hoped that Carlos and the rest of his team could see through the bullshit if it was true that Nicholai was part of the squad. Some part of Jill wondered if he had been lying about that.
Jill managed to catch herself a break from an onslaught of zombies. She thought she was in the clear. Allowing herself to breathe for a moment, she soon regretted taking a moment to rest. A large portion of a brick wall came tumbling down. Jill at the last second jumped out of the way, and stepping forth from the debris was the towering b.o.w, Nemesis. The massive creature hissed, the dust settling as it glanced around the area, eventually setting its sights on Jill.
“Stars!” It screamed. The pitch sounding like an animal but there was a distinctive human tone to it that sent chills down Jill’s spine. She swallowed, her gun ready as she braced herself. There was no running from this thing. She was beginning to make peace with that.
Once more, as she loaded her gun quickly while the charging beast came dashing forward, Jill visualized Nicholai. His smug look, the high and mighty attitude, and she glared at the oncoming monster.
“Looks like there’s someone else I hate more than you. Go figure. Now come and get me!” Jill screamed, and they once more clashed in the ongoing fight for survival in Raccoon City.

1 Chronicles 11:1-12:18, Acts 28:1-31, Psalms 9:1-12, Proverbs 19:1-3
Today is the 11th day of July welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we bring another of our weeks to a close. We’re also going to be bringing one of our books to a close today, the book of Acts, which means as we conclude today we will achieve another one of our badges, this one for the New Testament history badge, which is the book of Acts. But we can talk about that in a little bit because we have not achieved it yet. So, let's dive in. First from the Old Testament's first Chronicles chapter 11 verse 1 through 12 verse 18. And we are reading from the English Standard Version this week.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for bringing us another week, day by day step-by-step, which is how it is every day, always. No matter what day, week, month, year it is we have established a relationship with Your word and we have established a rhythm and come together in community and we thank You because as we end every week we look back and see Your faithfulness to us. Even if it's been a difficult week, we see that You are guiding us and that You are present. And, so, as we end this week, as it becomes a part of history we look forward to all You will do in the coming week and we are here right here, right now, worshiping You and thanking You for Your mercy and Your kindness and Your patience, we’re worshiping You for who You are, the most-high God. We can't even begin to get our minds around it - the most-high God. We worship You because You are our Father and we love You. And, so, we release this week into our history and invite Your Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth as we move forward. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website and home base and where you find out what’s going on around here.
I mentioned at the beginning so we concluded the book of Acts and so those of us who are using the Daily Audio Bible app and kind of checking off the days, that will lead us to the achievement of the New Testament history, which is the book of Acts. And that…that badge shows up in our…in our app and that shows up in the in the Achievements section. You just push the little Drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner and see achievements and we can kind of see where we are as we move through the different sections of the Bible. And it should also just pop up and show us we’ve accomplished this. So, well done. We continue to be on our way and tomorrow we will get to know this apostle Paul that we've…we’ve gotten to know him by his travels, like his itinerary and some of the history, some of the things that happened, some the places that he went to, some of the things that he had to say, but we’re gonna get in-depth into his letters as we move forward in these weeks ahead of us. So, excited about that for sure.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com. There is a link. It lives on the homepage. Thank you profoundly for your partnership as we continue to move through these summer months. Thank you. There’s a link on the homepage. If you’re using the app you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or, if you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And, as always, if you have a prayer request or encouragement, you can hit the Hotline button in the app, which is the little red button at the top or you can dial 877-942-4253.
And that's it for today. I’m Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow
Community Prayer and Praise:
I just want to say thank you Daily audible Bible you’ve been a real blessing to me for at least eight years. This is only my second time of calling and. I’m Brenda from Michigan. I have a niece that deals with OI for short - osteogenesis imperfecta - where her bones are brittle, and they break. She’s 29 years old now and she’s having a lot of difficulty breathing, severe difficulty. And I am praying and asking the Lord to do a supernatural miracle in her life. We just give you many thanks and thank you for all the faithful’s. I love being a part of this. Thank you, Brian and family very much. Good night.
Good evening DAB family this is Marinotha from Georgia and this message is for All the Grace and He shines. I’m a few weeks behind. I was just listening to June 22nd and you called in and sang a beautiful song and it just lifted my heart and we’ve had it really hard. We’ve…my son on July 4th fell into a fire pit and has 2nd degree burns on his leg. We came home from the hospital today and he’s going to be okay, but we’ve got a long road. So, just thank you for making me smile for the first time in a few days. And please be with our family and be with my son Corban as he heals from these horrific burns. Thank you DAB family for being here for me. Thank you all. Good night.
Hi family this is Biola from Maryland I hope you’re all doing well. Brian and Jill God bless you. Jill, happy birthday again. Family I want to pray for my brother from Sudan, Donald. God bless you. You’re my Nigerian brother as well as my brother in the Lord. I pray that God will comfort you and…and jut wrap His arms around you over the murder of your brother in Nigeria. Family I called in that one time to ask for prayers for our missionaries to Nigeria. They’ve been terribly persecuted by militant Muslims especially in the north and you can see what happened to our brother Donald’s brother…younger brother even though he’s a medical doctor helping them. Missionaries in northern Nigeria have been persecuted. I know of a family that the militants broke into…into their compound and shot the father, the mother, the children. But, you know, I want to give God praise that the bullets that went into them to not go into vital areas. So, the doctors were able to fish out the bullets. And then I know of pastors who were beheadedbeheaded in Nigeria. You know, please pray for missionaries both in Nigeria and around the world. My prayer in the name of Jesus is that the devil would cease and desist. You know, using this people in the name of Jesus that they will come to their knees and they will come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And if they don’t cease-and-desist I pray that the Lord will deal with them in the name of Jesus. Sister I heard your prayer, the sister that has been separated for several years. I pray that the Lord will bring a restoration in your marriage in the name of Jesus. God bless you family. Biola from Maryland.
Good morning this is Running Desperately to Jesus last time I called I know I spoke of having my grandson with me but today I’m asking for prayer. The flesh has caused me to sin against the temple of God. It has even impacted my relationship and faithfulness to God. I have not walked away from God and I made a promise I never would no matter how low of my behavior became. Met a guy, red flags all over, but because I got tired of being lonely, fell into justification of the reason why he treated me. Well yesterday I went by his house shows me how much or how little I think of myself, basically put me out, stood me up didn’t give any type of reason why put me out. I say all of that DABbers to let you know I need prayer. I think very little of myself. I let this person treat me and speak to me any way just so that I could get the moment of affection be it just holding me, saying all the right things. And now I feel like trash. Running Desperately to Jesus. I’m just asking…
Good morning DAB family Abby here from Maryland. Today is July 7th and I am out on my walk and I just want to thank God for all that He’s been doing in each and every of our lives. I want to give God the glory and thank Him for this day for the opportunity to be still in His presence. Thank you, Brian, thank you the entire Hardin family. May God continue to keep you. Brian I was really moved by your exultation this morning on today’s reading of July 7th, especially in the book of Proverbs where someone who’s offended can be like a castle or city gates. It’s hard to please the person or appease the person. And I’m praying that may we extend grace when we have been offended and may we ask for mercy when we have been the one who has offended someone, grace to humble ourselves always under the mighty hands of God. So, you guys have been amazing, you’ve been awesome in my life. I lift each and every one of you into God’s hands. May He keep you. May He watch over you. May He lift His face of continence upon you and give you peace. And as we go into the next half of this year my prayer is that God’s grace covers us, God’s mercy keeps us. May He watch over us. May He be our King of Kings and Lord of lords. You all have a good day. Abby here.
Hey Daily Audio Bible family this is Melody from Canada and this is probably the most personal prayer request I have. It’s July 7th and after hearing Brian talk about offense and this __ I just realized that I’m offended by God. I…because of things I’ve gone through - being raped, by a little brother dying - just other…other really hard things it’s hard for me to trust God. It’s hard for me not to be offended by Him. And the whole theology of end day judgment, I believe in it, I believe in accountability. But because I’ve been rejected and traumatized, the idea of God, the lover of my soul rejecting anyone and subjecting them to eternal torment is just…it’s so…it just makes me so angry and I don’t understand how…anyway I know this…there’s like all different views but I…I want to know the truth and I want to be able to be at peace with God and love Him and trust Him and know that I’m chosen by Him and just be at peace with how He runs the universe. And, so, I’m hoping to talk about that with Him on my long walk today. So, if you could pray for me as always feels like this tug-of-war of not being able to completely trust. And just this…I guess the original lie of God is holding onto power…somehow, He’s actually not good. So, yeah, I really want breakthrough on that, and I pray for all of us today on our long walk. I pray that we’ll all be able to do it and really meet with God, really engage with Him and hear from Him for the rest of our year. Love you guys.

The Groove Guide - Reviews 2008
The Prodigy - Experience Expanded/More Music For The Jilted Generation With the advent of British big beat/hard dance merchant's The Prodigy's fifth studio album, released by their new record label Take Me to the Hospital, it was inevitable that XL Recordings and Maverick undertook the same treatment EMI gave Radiohead and Capitol gave The Vines in releasing previous albums to capitalize off their success. However, rather than a traditional "Best Of" compilation which, well, has already been done, the shrewd move was to re-master two albums which helped both shape the big beat scene and redefine techno and rave with added b-side and live track bonuses. Experience and Music For The Jilted Generation both became important albums for the dance music scene; where Experience expanded upon early rave culture and fused jungle and techno with tracks such as "Out Of Space" and "Everybody Into The Place", both remixed and contained on the "Expanded" section of this re-release, it's ...Jilted Generation which provided a crossover between the underground to their critically and commercially acclaimed Fat Of The Land; the edgier, almost industrialized sounds emanating from "Break & Enter", "Their Law" and the Nirvana-sampling "Voodoo People" bridging ravers and rockers into the Big Beat sound that sculpted the likes of The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method and Fatboy Slim and gave birth to what we now know as 'electronica.' B-Sides from their single releases, live tracks from their most recent stints at Pukkelpop and remixes from Dust Brothers, the real reward is the re-mastering of the songs and highlighting that despite today's standards highlighting fluro, glamour and fashionista sensibilities, it never needs to be that way.
Los Campesinos - Hold On Now, Youngster
If you're not really a fan of twee, this may change your mind. Welsh sextuplet Los Campesinos have been making an impression within the 'indie' scene, but rather that come across sophisticated and potentially haughty, the group have a power-pop element which comes across as fun. Catchy, with the ability to muster a smile upon the face of anyone (case point - "You! Me! Dancing!), Hold On Now, Youngster... is nigh on flawless and is once again more proof Wales, who have provided a number of influential acts in the past two decades, are doing something right nurturing their countries music scene.
Akaname - Filthlicker
The internet seems to heavily favour bands of Akaname's variety for good reason - while mainstream outlets omit such "radio unfriendly" one might be inclined to state as being on "Filthlicker", the internet and it's at times quite staunch view on bands place emphasis on talent rather than aesthetics. What we have with Filthlicker is a band who are mixing one part The Dillinger Escape Plan with five parts The Black Dahlia Murder to a great accord. New Zealand's music scene has just been hit with another metal(core) slug to its chest – one that'll be fired on April 11th at Oblivion in Auckland.
Goodnight Nurse - Keep Me On Your Side Goodnight Nurse seem to have turned a trick used by Blink 182; from that bubblegum-esque pop they once honed during their "Always and Never" era, there seems to be a more serious straight-ahead approach to the band. Almost breaking away from the quasi boy-meets-girl, girl-breaks-boys heart formula their new album makes them sound a little less New Found Glory and, strangely, a lot more like Homegrown and their 'darker' punk rock. An apt analogy would be to compare their work used in a Judd Apatow movie rather than a high school comedy akin to American Pie. "Drift Away" perhaps the standout track on the album, with "Lay With Me" there for older fans as not to alienate them. Definitely a goodnight rather than a goodbye from the boys.
Otep - The Ascension
Otep were one of the bands that during the golden age of nu-metal at the start of the 00's passed through with both relative success and, more importantly, a deal of anonymity - though they had their fans and were very much "Kittie for the thinking man", they escaped the scathing retrospective views because, sadly, people couldn't have cared less. Their latest effort retains those nu-metal sensibilities while the vocals pulling away from relentless screaming, and where the oft compared Jack Off Jill or, for some reason, Arch Enemy, found their transitional period turbulent, Otep manages such a thing near graceful. It helps, also, they pull off a Nirvana cover with justice.
Satyricon - The Age of Nero Satyricon is an interesting little quandary - though superficially resembling all the aesthetics of a black metal act, they've caused quite the controversy after the release of Now, Diabolical was cited as being "radio-friendly" amongst hardened fans of the genre. Funny how Norway's equivalent of a Grammy can do that to you... However, The Age of Nero retains the hallmarks you would commonly expect from a band of their kind; the high pitched death growl, the bleak outlook within Satyr's lyrics. Unlike other black metal acts, there is a groove involved within their sound, rather than blunt force trauma - 'The Wolfpack' melodically could seat well at home with Dirt era Alice In Chains while 'Last Man Standing' could be a Down b-side, all the funnier Phil Anselmo is rumoured to be working with the band. The black metal fan in me is reluctant to give it a high rating because it's not essentially an album of that kind. But the general metal fan in me concedes it's a brilliant piece of work and, as taboo as it could be amongst the community, is actually very accessible and at the end of the day, isn't that more important to a movement?
Emigrate - Emigrate
Touted as being "industrial metal" and including remixes from Mr. Digital Hardcore himself Alec Empire, the side project of Rammstein's Richard Z. Kruspe sounds like a delectable and, dare I say it, heavy affair. Instead, Emigrate treats us to generic, radio-friendly tracks which you would hardly expect given Krupse's CV. In fact, it seems offensive to even believe this would come from such a person – almost as if the creativity from the German group has finally diminished (let's be honest though, Rosensot wasn't exactly their edgiest, was it). Bland, devoid of anything challenging, it would seem that the aesthetics were more important than the music and by far this is little more than a vanity project for Krupse.
The CHASE - Paranoia
When it rains, it pours. 2008 definitely seems to be the year in which New Zealand's hardcore scene emerges out of the woodwork finally to the acclaim it deserves - none more so than The CHASE, who channel the spirit of good post-hardcore that emanated out of the US underground scene circa. 2002-2004. In fact, with songs such as "The Seconds" and "Boomers", you could have easily mistaken them for a band on early Drive-Thru or Victory Records. Short (the album runs little over half an hour) but both melodic and aggressive, The CHASE are like a double happy; though they make not look it, they can induce a large amount of unexpected splendour. How's NZ DIY hardcore scene going to lay siege once more throughout 2008? With bands The Chase leading the charge. Corporate punk rock stops here.
Franz Ferdinand - Tonight Doth my ears deceive me, or have Franz Ferdinand taken a page out of KISS' playbook and decided to craft a disco song or two? Though where the old aged outlaws alienated the KISS Army with their experiment, Franz Ferdinand has not - there's always been that dance party element within their previous releases and Tonight is no exception. It, however, seems like the band have been caught in a zeitgeist of electro-new-wave eighties - songs like 'Turn It On' and 'Send Him Way' almost seem homages to Synth godparents The Human League, Alex Kapranos and company even seem determined to summon the spirit of Saturday Night Fever with 'Live Alone'. Though it might seem like committing commercial suicide, the thing is Franz Ferdinand have always been eccentric, and their idiosyncrasies are their strengths. Tonight is a record you might be ashamed to admit you'd like, but you will like it... embrace your fear.
Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted
There's been a wait in the metal community for the mighty return of influential metal act Sepultura. While that prophecy may not come to pass, Cavalera Conspiracy reunites brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera after too long of an absence. What you'd expect is something loud, noisy and aggressive, and truth be told, that's one extent of the album. The other is the groove that made Sepultura so popular, with well crafted if deceptively simple riffs that command the ability for even a casual rock fan to nod their head. Another bullet fired from the metal scene in 2008 – Inflikted is part Nailbomb at times and at others Arise-era Sepultura, but a huge return for the brothers Cavalera.
The Naked and Famous - No Light Was it rushed? That's the sceptical question posed as The Naked And Famous release the follow up to This Machine in what does feel like a very short space of time. Though many who may not have listened to the group cite that they are simply another electro band flooding Auckland's musical landscape, they couldn't be more wrong. Dirty basslines, distorted guitars, the tracks play out more industrial than electro - leadoff single "Birds" almost a nod to With Teeth era Nine Inch Nails and the sultriness of early Garbage. Second record syndrome? Powers and company taunt it... and leads us into eager anticipation for their debut long-player
Soulfly - Conquer
Max Cavalera has had quite a busy 2008 - earlier this year we saw the long-awaited reunion with his brother Igor conjuring a zeitgeist of prime Sepultura days with his side project Cavalera Conspiracy and now the sixth instalment of Soulfly, the group he formed shortly after leaving the thrash/groove metal outfit he made his name with. With that in mind, was it ever going to be an easy feat juggling his main band with a project many of us metal fans have waited years to see? The answer isn't an easy one and leaves many sitting on the fence.
Conquer rather than becoming a continuation of the heavier hitting sounds the group gave us with their previous release, Dark Ages, with it's throwback to albums reminiscent of Arise, combines those elements with the groove metal which brought them to such acclaim with their sophomore album Primitive. Though it's an eclectic prospect on paper, sadly in practice it comes across a little disjointed and does beg the question if now Igor is in the song-writing midsts that Soulfly becomes now a second thought to the newer Cavalera project.

8/6/2021 DAB Chronological Transcription
Zephaniah 1-3
It's the sixth day of August. I'm Jill. Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. We're walking through the Bible together every day in chronological order until we make it through together in a year. It's so great to be here with you on this journey. We are centering ourselves together in the word over the next twenty, twenty five minutes or so, just taking a deep breath, being calm and still and quiet and allowing God's word to speak through us, to us, in us, wash over us, and hopefully we will not be the same as when we began. And we're doing that together. Today we start another brand new book. We're in the Book of Zephaniah and we're reading chapters one, two and three today. And we're reading in God's Word translation. Zephaniah, chapter one.
Commentary:
So that begins and ends the book of Zephaniah today. Zephaniah being again one of the minor prophets, and we can trace his ancestry all the way back to as a Hekekiah, one of the righteous kings. He, too, was a reformer. And this book, I think in some degree you could say is some contrasts where we have a very dark picture of the judgment of God. And then we might hear the hope of hope in a brighter story, the future of Israel and the glory of that picture that it paints. And maybe we could even say that, that the contradiction of the dark and the light in the words of the Book of Zephaniah could be a greater picture of the people of Judah's division of their loyalty to who and what they worshiped. And of course, we can we can hear these prophecies. We can hear the darkness- we can just really get caught up in it. One thing I think I would just want to leave us with today is chapter three verse 17. The Lord, your God is with you, he is mighty to save, he will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love and he will rejoice over you with singing. Now, it's it's easy to to go in and cherry pick a verse and hand-pick it for us. And, you know, I'm a singer. I grew up singing. That was my livelihood for a lot of years. So I especially love this verse that paints a picture of God singing over us. And again, we know that this passage was written for a specific time for a specific people, however, we can look for the hope in these verses. We can look for the hope that we can cling to. We can sit in the darkness for a minute, but we can also- we can lift our heads and look to the light. We can look the hope that brings us out of the darkness and into his marvelous light. I, for one, love, love, love to imagine my God singing over me. If you attend a worship service where praise and worship is a part of your Sunday worship experience, you know, you know what it does to your heart to sing praise to God. Worship aligns our heart to the heart of God. Sometimes as we sing and as we praise and even if you can't sing, if your heart is just connected, you can feel the heaviness lift if you give in to what's happening in the moment. But when you think about God himself singing over you, his beloved, his cherished, his sons and his daughters changes your perspective. It shifts something inside of you to think the most high God would sing over us. If you get quiet enough, if you quiet yourself outside in nature, you can soon hear all the sounds that are going on. But if you ever just tune into nature, you hear the songs that the birds sing and when you stop and sit with it, it's pretty amazing. The song that they will sing. How much greater for humanity to raise their voice in praise to worship the one true God. How it shifts our perspective to think that the one true God might sing over his created, beloved sons and daughters.
Prayer:
Father, we thank you today for the hope that we can find when we look. We thank you for the break of dawn in the darkness. We thank you for the light God that shines through the bleak and the black and the dark. And we thank you that you are our hope. You are the light that shines. And your word says that we can light up the darkness. We have the ability. And God, I don't know. I don't know if you truly sing over us, but I love the thought. I love the idea that you, almighty God, sing a song over your beloved children. I thank you God that it wouldn't be beneath you to do that for us, as a mother would sing a lullaby with her child as she rocks them to sleep. I think of you singing that back to us. Thank you. You are a good and loving father, thank you for how you love us. Thank you for how you father us. And today I thank you that you remain our hope. We pray this in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Community Prayer Line:
Matthew 7:7-8, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks receives the one who seeks finds and to the one who knocks the door will be open. Hey DABers, this is Nick from Florida just calling to ask to lift up my neighbor again. Her name is Beth. I called in before a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to keep the prayer open for her, for all the DABers that weren't able to hear for the first call. Please pray for her and her family. She has stage four cancer. Originally, I thought it was breast cancer that spread to her head, but it was actually breast cancer that spread to her liver. So she's having a whole bunch of fluid buildup in her stomach right now. I just pray for healing that the great physician can do it through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So please pray for her. Also wanted to call in to encourage Rienzo from Florida, D from Florida and Diane Olive-Brown from Newberg, Indiana. Among all the other DABers. But those three stood out to me. And I just want to let all of you know that I'm praying for you and that I hope God blesses you. And you can be the light of the world to spread the great news of the kingdom of Jesus Christ, as our Lord and Savior. Thanks, guys. You all have a blessed week, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Good morning, family. This is Robin from Hawaii. I wanted to give you an update on my friend Pam. She became stable enough to be able to leave the mainland and come back to Hawaii after her heart surgery. She was home for two days and then was admitted to the hospital for respiratory complications. And I think it was yesterday or the day before, Jill, you you prayed for people that are hopeless. And that so reminds me of Pam. I just feel like she is afraid. She's obviously sick and she has lost her hope. So I'm asking you to join me in praying for her to regain her hope in God for this life and the next, and that God will heal her physically and she'll be able to go home and that she'll feel his peace and presence with her as she's laying there in the hospital bed. Oh, all you dear people that call in with so many prayer requests for children, for jobs, for health, for depression. I'm praying for you all. I'm so thankful for this international community that supports and loves one another. And thank you, Jill and the Hardin family, just truly amazing and blesses me every day. Aloha...God is love. Witch-themed romance reads, some past, some future, with a couple of books from other genres.
Bewitched, an anthology by Lisa Higdon, Susan Krinard, Amy Elizabeth Saunders, and Maggie Shayne, whose novella Everything She Does Is Magick has a Sleeping Beauty-esque trio of aunts furtively wielding their magic to ensure the unwitting hero’s virginity stays intact until such a time as he and their protegee will fall for each other. Whether you’ll enjoy it probably depends on your feelings about the premise and if the enemies to lovers interaction between the heroine and hero strikes you as hilarious or immature.
Eternity by Maggie Shayne “Three hundred years ago, Raven St. James was accused of witchcraft...Only one man tried to free her from the hangman's noose--Duncan, the town minister, who died trying to save her. Three hundred years later, the accused witch still lives and longs for her love...At last, after centuries of loneliness, Raven has found her precious Duncan. But as he awakens to the passion of his past life, so too does the evil that tore them apart. Now Raven and Duncan must prove their love for all eternity.” (TBR)
The Witch and the Warrior by Karyn Monk, a medieval set in Scotland. “Suspected of witchcraft, Gwendolyn MacSween has been condemned to being burned at the stake at the hands of her own clan. Yet rescue comes from a most unlikely source. Mad Alex MacDunn, laird of the mighty rival clan MacDunn, is a man whose past is scarred with tragedy and loss. His last hope lies in capturing the witch of the MacSweens--and using her magic to heal his dying son. He expects to find an old hag....Instead he finds a young woman of unearthly beauty. There's only one problem: Gwendolyn has no power to bewitch or to heal. Now she must pretend to be a sorceress--or herself perish.” (TBR; have enjoyed a couple of non-medieval historicals by this author.)
A Witch’s Handbook of Kisses and Curses by Molly Harper. “Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Complication One: the artifacts [she needs to unearth] are lost somewhere in what is now Jane Jameson's book shop. Complication Two: her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, who keeps turning up half naked at the strangest times, a distraction Nola doesn't need.” (Currently reading.)
Met By Moonlight by Rosemary Edghill. “When modern day witch Diana Crossways plunges back to 1647 England, she learns that a mysterious man she saw in Salem, Massachusetts is a notorious witch hunter. He holds the power of life and death over Diana--but she also inflames his desire.” (I gave this one a B a few years back.)
Magical Memories by Donna Fletcher. Contemporary set in Scotland. “As one of the world’s most powerful witches, Tempest possesses the ability to do anything - except men her own broken heart. Many years ago, her lover was corrupted by his own magic power, and she was forced to imprison him in a mystical limbo. Unable to forgive herself, Tempest has never allowed another man to get close to her... until now. While navigating her car through a fierce blizzard, Tempest accidentally hits Michael Deeds, injuring his leg. [At her home, where she has taken him to heal, the two begin to fall for each other.] But is Michael the new love she’s been searching for - or someone from her past she dared not believe she’d ever see again?” (TBR)
Bewitching by Jill Barnett. Regency. “Alec, Duke of Belmore, did as he pleased - and he wanted to marry the beautiful, bubbly girl who had positively bewitched him: Joyous MacQuarrie, who had appeared from nowhere and turned stately Belmore Park upside down with merriment and mischief. It hardly mattered that her Scottish bloodline was shrouded in mystery. But Alec's heated desire turned ice-cold when he discovered that this winsome lady was, in fact, a witch --- whose powers of white magic were not always perfectly under control ...Too late, Joy knew she was desperately in love and that nothing could stop the course of their destiny --- the scandal threatening to destroy her and the passion that held them both spellbound in a forbidden, irresistible match.” (This charmed an A from me and became an instant favourite a long time ago.)
Thornyhold by Mary Stewart. From a different period than her wonderful vintage romantic suspense, this book has a much subtler, quieter flavour, being sweet and gentle instead of tense and gothicky. The romance is secondary. “To Cilly, the house, deep in the wild wood, was an enchantment, left to her by the cousin whose occasional, magical visits had brightened her childhood. And as she explored, she discovered more about the woman who had come to seem like a fairy godmother to her: her herbalist’s skills, her still room, her abilities to foresee and heal. She discovered also that the local people believed that Cilly had inherited not just the house but the magical spell-weaving powers that lived on in the house and garden. Slowly, she came to realise that they were right.” (This one needs a reappraisal from me as my original, long ago C+ was based on disapponted expectations.)
50 Ways To Hex Your Lover by Linda Wisdom. @ameliafeministpeabody‘s recent mention inspired me to add this humorous contemporary paranormal, first in a series, to my TBR! The heroine is “a witch who can’t stay out of trouble” and the hero “a vampire cop on the trail of a serial killer.”
Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho. Romantic historical fantasy. The author apparently has mentioned Georgette Heyer and Susannah Clarke (Jonathan Stange and Mr. Norrell) as her major influences. “At his wit’s end, Zacharias Wythe, freed slave, eminently proficient magician, and Sorcerer Royal of the Unnatural Philosophers—one of the most respected organizations throughout all of Britain—ventures to the border of Fairyland to discover why England’s magical stocks are drying up.But when his adventure brings him in contact with a most unusual comrade, a woman with immense power and an unfathomable gift, he sets on a path which will alter the nature of sorcery in all of Britain—and the world at large...” (Reading next)
The Witches of New York by Ami McKay. Gilded Age fantasy fiction. “Two hundred years after the trials in Salem, Adelaide Thom has left her life in the sideshow to open a tea shop with another young woman who feels it's finally safe enough to describe herself as a witch: a former medical student and "gardien de sorts" (keeper of spells), Eleanor St. Clair. Together they cater to Manhattan's high society ladies, specializing in cures, palmistry and potions--and in guarding the secrets of their clients. All is well until one bright September afternoon, when an enchanting young woman named Beatrice Dunn arrives at their door seeking employment. Beatrice soon becomes indispensable as Eleanor's apprentice, but her new life with the witches is marred by strange occurrences. She sees things no one else can see. She hears voices no one else can hear. Objects appear out of thin air, as if gifts from the dead. Has she been touched by magic or is she simply losing her mind? Eleanor wants to tread lightly and respect the magic manifest in the girl, but Adelaide sees a business opportunity. Working with Dr. Quinn Brody, a talented alienist, she submits Beatrice to a series of tests to see if she truly can talk to spirits. Amidst the witches' tug-of-war over what's best for her, Beatrice disappears, leaving them to wonder whether it was by choice or by force. As Adelaide and Eleanor begin the desperate search for Beatrice, they're confronted by accusations and spectres from their own pasts. In a time when women were corseted, confined and committed for merely speaking their minds, were any of them safe?” (TBR, thanks to @seashells-and-bookshelves)
Dance Upon The Air by Nora Roberts. One of the consistently best loved romances by this genre legend. “When Nell Channing arrives on charming Three Sisters Island, she believes that she’s finally found refuge from her abusive husband - and from the terrifying life she fled so desperately eight months ago. But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café - and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd. But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him - for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she’s created so carefully could shatter completely. Just as Nell starts to wonder if she’ll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers under a terrible curse - one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692. And now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women—and with the nightmares of the past haunting her every step—she must find the power to save her home, her love…and herself.” (TBR)
The Witches of All Saints by Jill Tattersall. Vintage gothic Regency. “It is February, 1811, in the countryside outside Brighton, England. In every house are people who have been terrified by the most brutal murder ever to occur in the area. Not only has this murder of well-known young woman shocked and repulsed them; it has also raised their deepest suspicions and fears for the safety of their own lives. For the murder had been the handiwork of more than one person, in fact of a group. A group of witches.Tansy Tremayne, coming to live with her aunt's family on their estate, arrived at the dreadful moment of the murder itself - indeed, witnessed a part of the ritual. Witnessed and was witnessed - by one of the participants. He was wrapped in witch's robe, the thin, diabolical music of the flute playing around him. He was someone Tansy would recognize...“ (Tattersall wrote several of the better gothics in the sixties and seventies. B- from me.)

@kingofthewebxxx . Jim gets a mom ✨
When Jill heard the front door opening, she stood up from her desk and left her study. She knew that sound very well now, of course. The keys clinking in the lock were always the sign that her son was back from school. A quick glance out the window and she saw the school bus driving away. Soon enough she was in the hallway, smiling at Jim.
“Hello darling, how was your day?’’
Motherhood suited Jill. She had always wanted to be a mom, but she’d never wanted to bother with a husband. And so, when one of her patients died in childbirth, she simply took the matter into her own hands. How could she let the father, a horrible, abusive man, keep the baby? Now, Jim was her son, and it was all for the best. He was a brilliant boy.

She offered her son a gentle smile. "I could homeschool you," she explained, "but there are things even I cannot teach you. Social skills are just as important as knowledge, dear. Being around other kids is good for you." Jill was, of course, aware of her son's... particularities. He needed to navigate the real world, to learn to tame the things that lay hidden.
"My day was good, thank you. I saw a few patients, nothing noteworthy really." She had found a next victim, but she obviously kept that detail to herself. "Are you hungry? I can make you a snack."
The school had been another difficult and dreadful day, in all honesty, he had left at certain points of the school day and returned later, he was usually back in place before anyone thought of saying anything and besides, he had made short work of the latest bully who now spent their time sulking in the corner, he had waved away their attempt of ‘making it up to him’, Jim would make them sweat just a little bit but he would make use of a potential new ‘friend’ if it suited him. Knowing that his mother would be waiting for him he had learned from an early age that simple excuses and saying nothing at all would not avoid the questions he never liked being asked. With this in mind, as he closed the door behind him, a simple shrug gave the context needed before he replied “The usual, I still don't think I need to go to school, I wish you could teach me, they are all idiots. How was your day?” His mother was one of the few people he didn't think was an idiot, quite the contrary. He knew how intelligent she was and took much of what she said into account, her opinion was the only one that had ever mattered, the only one who had ever tried to understand. Jim didn't care about his biological father and did not ask too much about him, the best mother he could wish for was with him. He removed his shoes at the door before heading into the living room.

@thorrncrowned sent: "where do we go from here ?" (emmanuel @ jill) from: ↪ 𝑴𝑶𝑹𝑩𝑰𝑫 ᶜᵘʳᶤᵒˢᶤᵗʸ .
It wasn’t unusual for a therapist to see another therapist. It fact, it was the norm. Jill, herself, was seeing a therapist. And Emmanuel was seeing her. She leaned in deeper into her chair, offering him a polite smile, perhaps less cold than the one she usually gave her other clients.
“Where would you like to go, Emmanuel? Are you feeling stuck?”

An invitation encased in a velvet envelope, left on the doorstep for the receiver to find
(For Mama)
Jill leaned toward the envelope, plucking it from the floor. She recognized her son's flair before even opening it, and thus was not particularly surprised when she saw the note. It was not signed, but she had no doubt as to who had sent it to her.
Walking back inside the house, she sat down to call Jim. When the ring resonated a few times, eventually leading to his voicemail, she left a message.
"Hi sweetheart, I got your mail. That's a lovely invitation. I'm sorry I couldn't make it, but I hope you'll let me know how it went." A little pause, as she pondered over the fact that he was now an adult, and might be irritated if she worried too much about him.
"I do hope you were careful," she couldn't help but add before hanging up.

𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐔
Jill grows up in the high society of London, but it doesn’t mean her childhood is in any way pleasant. Behind the elegant varnish of the bourgeoisie, Jill and her mother are tormented by a violent father and husband. One night, as she attempts to protect her mother, Jill loses control and throws her father down the stairs, killing him on the spot. She learns a valuable lesson that day. As the murder is quickly covered up as an accident, she learns that she can get away with murder. And while London is terrified by the violence of Jack the ripper, Jill decides that two can play that game. But it’s not defenseless women she attacks, no, it’s violent men. All the while perfectly mimicking the Ripper’s technique. She managed to get a medical degree despite the indignation of men, and was eventually allowed to practice medicine. She has a small practice in London.
