The convicts have been penalized with Rs 10,000 each. The Vyapam scam involved fraud in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board that was unearthed in 2013.

The Centre, in its counter affidavit filed on a challenge to the constitutional validity of the new IT Rules, has submitted that although the right to freedom of speech and expression, including the freedom of press, is critical for a vibrant democracy like India, citizens “cannot be treated as passive consumers.” While submitting that there have been “past incidents of disinformation on digital media leading to disturbance of public order”, the Centre has asserted that digital media “allows sensational content being re-circulated in a different context leading to misinterpretation by the audience”, making it susceptible to being used as fake news.

The Taliban are in talks with Qatar and Turkey about the management of Kabul airport and should secure the airport as soon as possible so that people who want to leave Afghanistan can do so using commercial flights, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Tuesday.

“The Security Council resolution about securing the airport must be implemented. There are talks under way with the Qataris and Turks about management of the airport. We must demand that access to the airport is safe,” Le Drian said on France 2 television.

Le Drian also said that France must continue to put pressure on the Taliban but is not negotiating with them.

JAC Class 12th Result 2020: Jharkhand board to declare arts, science, commerce results at 1 pm; check scores via SMS

JAC Class 12th Result 2020: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is set to declare the results of Class 12 board examination for arts, science and commerce streams today (Friday, 17 July)  at 1 pm, reports said.

Once declared, students can check their scores on jac.jharkhand.gov.in, jacresults.com and jharresults.nic.in.

"We will announce the results of Class 12 board exams on Friday. The results will be out at 1 pm," JAC chairman Arvind Prasad Singh told Hindustan Times.

According to News18, the result will be announced at the Jharkhand board's head office in Ranchi by state education minister Jagarnath Mahto in the presence of Singh.

Steps to check JAC Class 12th result via SMS

As has been seen in the past, the official website may become slow or unresponsive due to heavy traffic. Students, however, shouldn't panic as they receive their scores on their phones via a text message.

According to examresults.net, to get your JAC Intermediate result via SMS, students are required to send a message in the following format to 56263:

RESULT<space>JAC12<space>ROLL CODE + ROLL NO

How to check JAC Class 12th Result 2020:

According to media reports, at least 2.3 lakh students had appeared for the board exams under JAC this year at 1,410 centres.

The Class 12 exams were held from 8 March to 27 March.

The results were expected to be announced by the first week of May, however, there was a delay due to a sudden outbreak of coronavirus across the country.

JAC had earlier fixed 20 March for evaluation of examination papers. However, the spread of COVID-19 virus and nationwide lockdown from 25 March proved to be a deterrent for JAC. The board deferred evaluation till 1 April, but it had to further delay the process as lockdown was extended in wake of rising cases of the infection.

Earlier, Singh was quoted as saying by the Indian Express that the evaluation process of Class 12 answer sheets was completed in the first week of July, and that the board will declare the Class 12 results by July end.

However, reports confirmed on Thursday that the Class 12 result will be announced on 17 July.

Last year, in the JAC Class 12 Science stream, 57 percent students cleared the exam, whereas, in the Commerce stream, the pass percentage was 70.44 percent. A total of 93,781 students in Science registered for the exam of which 92,405 had appeared.

About Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC): 

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) was formed in 2003 to conduct board examinations for schools that earlier came under Bihar Board in unified Bihar-Jharkhand. In the past 16 years, the council has failed to cross a pass percentage of 70 percent in Science. In commerce, the pass percentage has varied from 65-75 percent.

The class 10 board results of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has brought bad news for state’s premiere school, Simultala Awasiya Vidyalay (SAV), which held sway in the top 10 in the last five years.

This year, it has no student in the top 5, while there are just three students among the 41 students in the top 10 – a steep fall for the institution set up in 2010 to fill the void of Netarhat Vidyalay that went to Jharkhand after Bihar’s bifurcation.

In its debut class 10 board exams in 2015, 19 students of the Simultala Awasiya Vidyalay (SAV) had secured more than 96% – a record since the inception of the Bihar board in 1952 – while 70 students got 90% to 96%. Since then, it hardly left any space for other schools in the top 10, until its near wipeout this year.

A dream project of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, its students had captured the top 108 positions in 2016, while the turn of other schools came only after that. In 2019, its 16 students were in the top 10, which had a total of 18 students. This year, the SAV students ranked 7th, 8th and 10th.

The institution had struggled due to a host of issues and also had to skip two sessions 2013-14 & 2014-15. In 2017, it conducted test for class 7 and 8, along with entrance level class 6, after chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed his displeasure over the its functioning.

Later a six-member committee was formed at the directive of the then chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh. The committee submitted its report, but nothing changed. So far, four committees have been formed for improving the school functioning. The report also highlighted migration of students from SAV after Class 10.

SAV principal Rajiv Ranjan said the results were shocking and very difficult to digest. “We were never expecting such results in class 10 board. Nothing has changed in the school, but the results have taken a sudden dip this year,” he added.

Ranjan said there would be thorough review of performance and the students would certainly like to apply for scrutiny, as nobody was ready to believe it. “The shock is big and it will take time to absorb. We know the students. In Class 12, there could be variation as many students study outside at different places, but in class 10, it is difficult,” he added.

Even after a decade of its establishment, the school still does not have its own campus, though the government has a big budget for this school. It also has to manage with ad hoc teachers.
