Polabian mostly follows the usual Slavic convention for naming days of the week (Saturday is *sobota, “the Sabbath”; Sunday is *nedě̀ľa, “[day of] no work”, and Monday is *ponedě̀ľa, “[day] after Sunday”; the rest are numbered starting with *vŭtorŭkŭ, “the second [day]”, i.e. Tuesday), with two very interesting exceptions:
Thursday is perĕndan — “Perun's day”. Wiktionary claims this to be a calque of Low German Dunnersdag, “Thunder's day” (also the etymology of English Thursday, obv). epic
Friday is skǫpĕ, apparently from Proto-Slavic *skǫpŭ — “expensive; valuable” (whence Serbo-Croatian skup, “expensive”). Wiktionary doesn't offer any explanation for the word's etymology, though I wonder whether it could also represent some kind of calque; specifically of Low German Freedag or the like, “Frigg-day”. or is this too much of a stretch..?

Hey, to all folkskxkxkx recommending his work, please be aware that Norman Finkelstein is a highly controversial scholar, who argues that antisemitism does not affect Jews in the west and especially in the US and that Jewish people invented the cultural image of the Holocaust in order to pretend to be victims so that we can exploit and parasitize gentile industries and resources. 👍 Which is pretty much straight out of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Not going to suggest there's nothing of interest or value in his work, just to say to please be mindful of how you approach it. Here's some quotes from his book, The Holocaust Industry, with some emphasis added.
For organized American Jewry, this contrived hysteria over a new anti-Semitism served multiple purposes. It boosted Israel's stock as the refuge of last resort if and when American Jews needed one. Moreover, the fund-raising appeals of Jewish organizations purportedly combating anti-Semitism fell on more receptive ears.
And:
Beyond this, however, the Holocaust framework apprehended anti-Semitism as a strictly irrational Gentile loathing of Jews. It precluded the possibility that animus toward Jews might be grounded in a real conflict of interests (more on this later). Invoking The Holocaust was therefore a ploy to delegitimize all criticism of Jews: such criticism could only spring from pathological hatred.
Referring to fear of antisemitism as "contrived hysteria," arguing that fears of antisemitism were cynically contrived to appropriate money, that antisemitism has "real" basis, etc... So, yeah. Be mindful that these are his philosophical underpinnings and be careful about what you extract from his work.

there are a lot of goyim esp from other Marginalised backgrounds that are taking the wrong lessons away from the fact that it turns out that a group of primarily socialist/communist people from an extremely oppressed cultural group with deep ties to an area are in fact more than capable of founding a regional settler colonial ethnostate in that area, a state that was capable of the mass dislocation and then intergenerational imprisonment of hundreds of thousands and then millions of people, and that while many non Jews feel morally pure and free of this ideology, the reality of the situation should terrify everyone

As said in the notes, this is a list of names! The names are read top-to-bottom, surname givenname.
To me, it looks like everyone is related in some way, since 1) they all have the same surname 逍 [Xiao, in Mandarin]* and 2) some of the names are repeated, in an "x son of y" fashion. In the first row on the left, we have 逍一魁 [not sure about that third character] [ben?] 逍尚信, which is immediately followed by 逍明 [ben?] 逍一魁.
It also appears that the family is using generational naming -- that's when everyone in the same generation has the same first character for their given name. So, anyone with 尚 as the first part of their name should be the same generation, eg all the people in the second row on the right.
*Xiao isn't one of the listed surnames in the article, so there's a chance I read the character wrong. It's possibly 赵 [Zhao] but that seems even less right.

^ some background on Sheinbaum, her Judaism, and its political ramifications
^ similar, more recent article in Spanish (also TIL that Spanish NYT isn't paywalled?!)
From what I gather, it seems she was raised in a culturally-but-not-religiously Jewish home, and she has been explicit about not being religiously observant or having a religious affiliation.
(which is still not a reason to ~invalidate~ her Jewishness. I just want us to be accurate in how we talk about her, and to take into account how she represents herself)
Mexico has elected Claudia Sheinbaum as president. She’s an environmental scientist, a feminist and she’s Jewish.
She’s also anti-Zionist, which has led to a bunch of idiots on twitter saying she isn’t really Jewish. The evidence? She thanked Jesus in her acceptance speech.
