I know autism acceptance month is over but I still have more characters to appreciate. Remember the movie Rio from 2011? Oh yeah, our man TYLER BLU GUNDERSON is totally autistic. Listen, I remember watching this movie when I was six years old and just seeing myself reflected back in this guy. He felt so distant from his peers and he desperately wanted to go home while he was lost in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. All of his dialogue stuck with me. At the end of the movie, it might seem like he “changed for the better”, but really, you can see in the second movie that he just learned to adapt to a new life that he wanted. He’s still the same bird and his (wife? birds don’t get married… “partner”, I guess 👍) partner loved him for exactly who he was. And even though it was a huge change for him, he was able to make a home in the rainforest and find a balance between his comfort zone and wild jungle out there.

The Amazonian Jewel aviary has this orange coloured Andean Cock-of-the rock which I spotted from afar but my lousy point and shoot camera could not afforded a decent closeup shot. So you have to settle for this Toucan (or maybe not) and Hyacinth Macaw which was actually found in the Crimson Wetlands avairy.

Lost From The Tribe

"All this time, I... I never let myself hope they were alive..."

It's a shame we never had a glimpse of what Jewel's past could've been in Rio 2 with only the mention of the wildfire incident between her and Eduardo that she ended up lost from her own family and tribe. I did my take on it as a headcanon of mine in the aftermath of the incident she was trying to find them again going over the ruined land in the Amazon and trying to find more of her own kind, but to no avail and as a result roamed the Brazilian wilderness before turning up in Rio de Janeiro where eventually the events of the first Rio film happen where she ends up captured by the ornithologists and later meeting Blu.

There was a trend on Spanish speaking twitter a while ago where people made Blu from Rio a new girlfriend because of how Jewel treated him in the second movie, so I figured why not make my own for giggles LMAO Am I late and on a different platform? Oh so very. But I had fun!

Meet Guinevere, a Camelot macaw! (A first generation hybrid between a blue-and-gold macaw and scarlet macaw) I imagine she's probably also semi-domestic. I think she turned out super cute!

I had a lot of fun doing style studies to draw her properly, though I heavily referenced Blu for his drawing to try and get him to look right LMAO I haven't drawn birds much before this, but I'm really happy with how this turned out. >:) Mwehe

Jason would be surprised at first. However, he would be happy to see birds dancing and singing. But if they asked him to dance ? Oh boy. That boy has absolutely no clue how to dance or sing.

Pennywise and Penny:

Those two are great dancers. The best. They tend to outshine anyone else on the dance floor. Plus, they could turn themselves into birds and chill with the other macaws.

The Sinclair Brothers:

I’ll let you guess who is whom. Bo is the greatest dancer hands down. He wanted to attract the ladies when he was younger and knew that dancing would be a good way to make them swoon. But his sort of dancing is…suggestive. 😅

Patrick Bateman:

The gif is self-explanatory. He would join in and do his little murder steps.

He could get curious about how macaws taste though.

Would probably try cooking them for dinner. Plenty of protein in those.

Brahms Heelshire:

That man knows how to dance and isn’t afraid to steal the spotlight. If there is something that stayed from his many private lessons during his childhood is his dance skills.

Plus, macaws singing and dancing and talking ? Brahms would love it. It would make him feel like a Disney princess.

Norman is old-fashioned, but he would enjoy having a little party and dance with the singing birds. He would even join in on the singing. He used to participate in church choirs in his youth.

He would be suspicious at first.

Macaws who sing and dance ? Really ?

But after he realises that they are not a threat, he would learn to appreciate them in his own way. He unfortunately cannot sing or dance since he never learned how, but he would happily look at everyone else having fun and enjoying themselves.

TYLER "BLU" GUNDERSON from RIO

JUSTIFICATION:

"I cannot explain this in a way that makes sense but Rio is like a trans metaphor to me. Among other things, the plot of rio is essentially about self discovery. Over the course of the film Blu is very anxious and unsure and I think that if she was able to transition she would become more confident in herself. Adding onto this there’s a subplot to Rio that Blu and Jewel (her love interest) are the only two of their species left and the humans are trying to get them to mate. Despite the fact that Blu and Jewel have nothing in common this pressure for Blu to disregard her own feelings and wellbeing for the sake of having children with Jewel is prevalent. In the second movie they do have children and after realizing that Jewel’s flock may still be alive, they all go on a trip to try and find the other macaws and do so successfully. This is frustrating and upsetting for Blu because she still doesn’t truly know how to be herself, not only in the terms of her gender and role in her family, but as a bird as well and she lashes out at her family. I just think if Blu came out and transitioned and got a divorce but maintained a healthy platonic co parenting relationship with Jewel she could truly discover herself." - @endlessdemento

Wait what happened in Rio 2?

Blu and Jewel and their kids go to the Amazon to look for some more Spix macaws with the promise that they'll come home afterwards, find Jewel's lost family, Jewel's father is shitty to Blu and Jewel's shitty to Blu and everyone's shitty to Blu, he does his best to deal with it for Jewel's sake but he finally decides enough is enough and calmly explains how miserable his and how this isn't home to him. Jewel snaps at him and calls him selfish. Stuff happens, blah blah blah and they end up staying in the jungle permanently but Jewel decides they can do summers in Rio, shitty movie is shitty.

Like, Blu literally has the phrase "happy wife, happy life" repeated to him and he tries to live by it and is made out to be the bad guy for not sacrificing even more for Jewel.

Hey everyone, today I bring you my kwamis that I do eventually want to bring into a story when I get the chance. And before anybody asks me the transformation phrases for them all is "Transform Me! / Detransform Me." cause I didn't want to wait any longer and couldn't be bothered lol. There are a total of 17 and here they all are and for those who have been with me might recognize some of these goobers.

How It Works: When activated, the user can copy the abilities of any target they touch. Once the user successfully copies a power, they store it in their hand mirror, which only experienced holders can access. With enough experience, the user can access all the powers that the Macaw has ever encountered.

|02. Unicorn Miraculous| Concept: Imagination Jewel: Hair Tie Kwami: Imaa Tool: Scepter Power: Desire

How It Works: When activated, the user creates a spark that, once it comes into contact with a target, brings their current desire into reality. Once the spark hits its target, the person enters a trance, consumed entirely by their desire. When they fully succumb to this desire, the user gains control over them, transforming them to align with that desire. To defeat the target, you must find the object where the spark landed and destroy both the object and the spark. However, destroying the spark also eliminates that target's desire although that desire can still come back to them in the future.

How It Works: When activated, the user can locate anything they want in a radius. Once the user states what they want to locate, their magnifying glass flashes the desired target and produces a scent trail leading to it. The trail lasts until the timer runs out; however, powerful magic can disrupt it by masking the scent.

How It Works: When activated, the user receives hints that help solve their problem. Once activated, their notebook will contain a list of things the user needs to gather. Every time they get an item from their list, the user obtains a piece of information on how to solve their situation. Once the user obtains all the items, they automatically know how to use them and how to solve their problem.

|05. Octopus Miraculous| Concept: Impersonation Jewel: Ear Cuff Kwami: Doppel Tool: Mask Power: Disguise

How It Works: When activated, the user has the ability to shapeshift into any person they want. Once the user puts on their mask, they can look and sound like their target, as long as they know the target's appearance and voice. The user can change their disguise as many times as they want until their timer runs out.

|06. Narwhal Miraculous| Concept: Projection Jewel: Lip Ring Kwami: Tuusk Tool: Rope Dart Power: Telepathy

How It Works: When activated, the user throws their tool at the target, and upon contact, they enter the target's mind. Once inside, the target's mind resembles an endless ocean surface, which may produce waves or storms depending on the target's state of mind. The user has no control over the target's mind and is merely a visitor; however, the target has full control and can either expel you or pull you into their subconscious, so be cautious with your approach.

|07. Cuckoo Miraculous| Concept: Substitution Jewel: Anklet Kwami: Kwikk Tool: Doll Power: Swap

How It Works: When activated, the user can switch the locations of people and/or objects. To use this ability, the user first touches a person or object, then touches their doll or a different person or object, and finally says Swap. This causes the locations of the touched person or object to swap with the doll or another person/object. The user can also choose to swap places with another person or object themselves, if desired.

|08. Dragonfly Miraculous| Concept: Consideration Jewel: Hair Clip Kwami: Zipp Tool: Chakram Power: Pace

How It Works: When activated, the user decelerates the pace of time surrounding them. To the user, everything around them seems slow, while to everyone else, the user appears extremely fast. If the user touches another person before activating their power, that person won’t slow down either.

How It Works: When activated, the user has the ability to modify the properties, appearance, or function of anything they touch. This could range from changing the shape, color, or material of objects to altering their own physical traits or those of others.

|10. Raccoon Miraculous| Concept: Acquisition Jewel: Earring Kwami: Slyy Tool: Cane Power: Pilfer

How It Works: When activated, the user can steal objects from their target within a certain radius. To do this, the user simply thinks of the desired object, extends their hand or cane towards the target, and says 'Pilfer' to successfully steal it. Although you cannot take magical objects like the miraculous, you can still steal their associated tools.

How It Works: When activated, the user can enhance others' powers with their love. To transfer this boost, the user must hug their target. They can hug up to five people at once, but boosting more targets drains the user faster.

|12. Eel Miraculous| Concept: Vitality Jewel: Chain Ring Bracelet Kwami: Moraii Tool: Rod Power: Invigorate

How It Works: When activated, the user can energize multiple targets in their radius. The user slams their tool down, instantly filling everyone around them with energy. This energy has many uses, such as revitalizing a person with fatigue to recharging the timer on a young holder's miraculous.

|13. Spider Miraculous| Concept: Imprisonment Jewel: Thimble Kwami: Spool Tool: Bobbin Power: Bind

How It Works: When activated, the user can create cocoons to trap their targets. The user creates them using the threads from their bobbin. However, the target can easily destroy their cocoon, depending on their power level.

|14. Silverfish Miraculous| Concept: Intrusion Jewel: Choker Kwami: Pappel Tool: Pen Power: Phase

How It Works: When activated, the user clicks their pen and becomes intangible and can pass through solid objects. They can move through walls, floors, and other solid matter with relative ease. The user can switch this power on or off up until their timer runs out. However, they can not interact with any person or object in their "phase" state and must return back to being corporeal in order to touch anything.

|15. Swan Miraculous| Concept: Reflection Jewel: Compact Mirror Kwami: Odette Tool: Ribbon Wand Power: Image

How It Works: When activated, the user can use reflective surfaces as portals to travel around. This can range from water, glass or anything that can reflect an image. It's rumored that you can visit other dimensions using this power.

How It Works: When activated, the user plays their pungi and puts their targets under a hypnotic trance to do the user's bidding. The trance can only be broken either from the user's timer running out or when the user stops playing the pungi.

How It Works: When activated, the user can make a target speak nothing but the truth. After a target is selected, the user slams down their gavel and that person's lips turn pure white. They can only tell the truth for the duration of the user's timer.

Here’s a little info about Scarlet and Jewel

Stella Star in the Space Riders AU

Scarlet is a female red fox with fire powers. She hails from Pyroma (Kickins Planet and no she doesn't know Kickin). She's the wild card of the pair and the muscle of the club. If someone is messing with one of the workers and making them uncomfortable she won't hesitate to drag them out kicking and screaming (and yes she has gotten into fights trying to remove people but she's very slippy).

(Scarlet's hair is meant to look like fire.)

Jewel is a Spix's Macaw who is powerless. She was born and raised on Planet Muse. She the more soft spoke of the two and is the one who tries to keep Scarlet out of trouble. While she doesn't have any powers that doesn't mean she isn't harmless, she knows how to fight. Fun Fact: She's the one who taught Stella how to hide small items in her tail. Jewel will hide gems or shards of glass (she dulls the sides so they don't cut her) in her tail. This is because when the club lights hit her tail she can create a beautiful display of colors. 

(Jewel's hands are meant to be wings but they didn't have that option. Also Jewel's braid is meant to be feathers, she doesn't have hair)

Also, Scarlet and Jewel are married to each other. Also, I got the idea for these two when I was listening to Hot Wings from Rio.
