Ask about games1: Do you try to stay away from walkthroughs? For games I play? Yes. Over the years I've realised it is more fun to discover things yourself and then talk about THOSE experiences. And I often lack the patience to look for a very specific part I am stuck at because they're often times not highlighted with a timestamp or they're behind a thousand cutscenes, town interactions and mindless commentary.

If someone recommends me a walkthrough series (never), then I might just give it a go. I'm waist deep in unfinished games, simply watching a game might be the easier way out, no?

2: Company you're always loyal to?I want to say Capcom, because they have yet to mess up Monster Hunter and I don't really have faith / interest in their other franchises as much as with Monster Hunter.

5: A popular series/game you just can't get into no matter how much you try? If there is a game I feel that is not for me, I drop them before I've invested too many hours into them. J-RPGs unfortunately fall into this pit too often as they usually don't have interesting characters early on or combat is boring / takes too long.

Fighting games are different, as they change slowly over time, but I did drop Street Fighter 5 near the end of season 1 and Smash Bros. altogether a couple months ago.

Or I simply don't buy them at all (e.g. Pokémon, Undertale, Overwatch).

17: What game do you never tell people you play? Guilty Gear Xrd series / Accent Core Plus R. Often times I don't learn anything vital or interesting from a training mode session in those games, which is exactly the thing to bring up with friends who play them...

23: Biggest disappointment you've had in gaming? Pre-ordering Drakengard 3 told me to not pre-order games "out of curiosity". I paid so much money for it and within the first hour I knew I would not like the game in the end. I could never bring myself to get the true ending. The soundtrack was the best thing about it and that's sad, because that is what made me pre-order in the first place.

Funny enough I later on pre-ordered Fatal Frame 5 for Wii U because that was the only way you could get it on a disk and as a horror game it was super bad and the only good thing about it was the protagonist I played as. But unlike Drakengard 3 (which was digital only in EU), I could trade this one in and get some sort of redemption for the misstep.

Don't pre-order video games unless it's for a series you love and / or availability is limited.

Video game class??

Yeah, my university offers a “Video Game Design and Management” specialization which I recently picked up.

Right now, I’m taking a class called “Video Game Quality Assurance” which is essentially just playing games and writing bug reports. I’m learning a lot about the industry!
