And so my journey to read the women’s prize for fiction continues. I finished Sight yesterday and I have to be honest and say that hadn’t this book been shortlisted for the prize, I wouldn’t have picked it up. It wasn’t perfect by any means and not my kind of book but I’m glad I read it nonetheless. It has some thought-provoking ideas about motherhood but I also thought it was a bit pretentious sometimes. However, I do believe that Jessie Greengrass is an author to look out for. Has anyone read it? Or planning on doing so? • I also picked one more The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock and see if I’m in the mood for it now. Being an adult isn’t easier than being a child or a teenager. Especially when you finally have to face the core questions of life: do I want to become a mother or father, is our relationship stable enough to do such a thing? Jessie Greengrass’ debut novel “Sight” made it directly to the short list of the 2018 Women’s Prize for Fiction. It is an unusual and unexpected combination of medical history and personal report. There are many interesting thoughts, yet, the novel could not completely convince me.

Happy Sunday! Since I’m not reading much I haven’t been very active lately but I wanted to post a bit of a reading update anyways. I decided to put down The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock for the time being. I’ll try and pick it up in a couple of weeks and see if I can finish it. To help me get back into my reading mood, I’m picking up the #penguinmodernclassics and I have already finished The Haunted Boy which I really enjoyed and now it’s time for The Finger by William S. Burroughs. • My plan for today is finishing Rise of Empire by Michael J.
