for @cagcd
The two shared glances the whole banquet, and the tournament beforehand. The two regular people, though one both more and less than the other. Johnny Cage was an action star with an exhilarating life, but he lived very much in the realms of reality until now. Imogen Idris lived a sedentary life, reclusive, doing remote work in a West London flat, but she had impossible visions, ones she first attributed to madness but now...
They were normal, modern people, seconded only to Kenshi Takahashi, who was much too serious for what she had invited Johnny Cage for in her Outworld quarters with some tea she had requested from their generous hosts: Debrief. The act of two people who had much to discuss about a social gathering getting together afterwards and making their observations.
They had not known each other long, but they shared that modernity, and she knew that in every timeline, he was Johnny Cage, and he always does the right thing.
"You have to send me those photos, first off. Has the shock of all this worn off for you yet?" She poured glasses for them and handed one to Johnny. "How are you finding our new acquaintances? Because I do have... Some notes."

The full interview!!
Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin react to their hit Broadway musical "Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club" earning nine Tony nominations, and share how they found out the big news! Tune in today for more fun with Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin.
Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, now playing at the August Wilson Theatre.
In Cabaret, Redmayne plays 'The Emcee', a role played by Joel Grey in the 1966 and 1987 Broadway productions. He performs alongside Gayle Rankin as Sally Bowles, replacing Jessie Buckley from the West End production.
Rankin recalls finding out about her first Tony nomination for her performance: "One of my dear friends who is a playwright was the first person to text me. He was like 'Let's go!!!' And then [Eddie Redmayne and I] phoned each other and it [was] very special."
Redmayne said he was doing his daily warm-up exercises to "check that my voice was still alive...And I came out of the shower and found some text messages. It was pretty overwhelming because it's been such a passion project for us and it's meant the world that so many elements of the show have been recognized..."
In addition to Redmayne and Rankin, the production stars two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth as ‘Fraulein Schneider,’ Tony Award nominee Ato Blankson-Wood as ‘Clifford Bradshaw,’ Obie Award winner and Drama Desk Award nominee Steven Skybell as ‘Herr Schultz,’ Henry Gottfried as ‘Ernst Ludwig,’ and three-time Helen Hayes Award winner Natascia Diaz as ‘Fritzie/Kost.’
Cabaret, one of the most revered and successful musicals of all time, has music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood. The show features the songs “Willkommen,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Mein Herr,” “Maybe This Time,” “Money,” and the iconic title number.
Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club on Broadway is directed by Olivier Award winner Rebecca Frecknall with club, scenic, and costume design by Evening Standard Award winner, Tony Award nominee, and Olivier Award nominee Tom Scutt, and choreography by Olivier Award nominee Julia Cheng. The show was recently nominated for 9 Tony Awards.

This is the first I've heard of this project but I'm interested. Despite how iconic the Bride is, there's never actually been a remake of this movie before. Could be good, could be bad.

Cabaret (2021 London Cast Recording) Review
This began as a text to my mom, but it became something I’m honestly kind of proud of. I have no one else to send it to, so Tumblr it is.
I am completely blown away by the new Cabaret recording. Jessie Buckley is amazing as Sally. Her voice is incredibly smooth and jazzy, but carries her emotion so profoundly. It’s a vessel for pain, pleasure, fear, and extravagance. She can really sing, which is rare for most Sallys (they usually rely on screaming the whole time). In my opinion, her standout performances are “Mein Herr,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and “Maybe This Time.” The only song her voice is slightly underwhelming on is, ironically enough, “Cabaret.” That’s the only recorded performance from the show they’ve released though, and from what I’ve seen from it, this is her chance to act rather than sing. It’s more unhinged, but equally as chilling.  Redmayne brings his Les Mis vibrato to the Emcee, which is rare for the character, and it’s just stunning. As iconic as Liza and Joel Grey are, the London cast certainly rivals them. Tomorrow Belongs to Me sounds like a church choir instead of a creepy Small World Doll (the reprise is like a soldier’s march), and Money is like a chilling mystery-movie score instead of a quick gag to separate acts. Buckley and Redmayne are inarguably the standouts, but not to a fault of the rest of the cast. No one leaves Cabaret and says “I guess Liza Minnelli was okay, but wow that Fraulein Schneider really blew me away!” It’s okay to have standout performances. I really like that, I’m assuming, they recorded it live. The laughing sounds really organic and without it a lot of Redmayne’s comedic timing would fall flat. The score and vocal performances become grittier and more like the “typical” Cabaret as it progresses, symbolizing Berlin’s fall to Nazism. It brings a lot of nuance and artistry to the show that is usually sidelined for the sake of it being Cabaret. The third to last song, “I Don’t Care Much,” sounds like it’s out of Phantom or such. It’s always been in the show, but this is the first time I’ve taken note of it while listening. That really speaks to Redmayne’s portrayal of the Emcee. The last number is chilling. It wraps up the absurdity of the show and weighs it down with the gravity of the reality of 1930’s Berlin. Redmayne ends the show singing alone with a single accordion, then with a gradual build-up of percussion that finally resembles the brutal sounds of war.

Get ready for a fresh take on a classic tale! Acclaimed actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is stepping behind the camera to direct "The Bride!", a reimagining of the iconic Bride of Frankenstein story. This highly anticipated film boasts a stellar cast, including Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, and promises a thrilling twist on the familiar themes of love, loss, and the search for belonging. A Lonely Monster Seeks a Companion "The Bride!" whisks us away to 1930s Chicago, a bustling metropolis teeming with life and secrets. Here, we meet a solitary Frankenstein's monster, yearning for connection. Driven by this profound loneliness, he seeks the help of a mysterious figure: Dr. Euphronius. This enigmatic doctor, shrouded in his own darkness, becomes entangled in the monster's quest. Together, they embark on a daring experiment, aiming to breathe life into a murdered young woman. The Bride Awakens: A Force Beyond Imagination Their efforts culminate in the creation of the Bride, played by the talented Jessie Buckley. However, this is no ordinary reanimation. The Bride is unlike anything either Frankenstein or Dr. Euphronius could have anticipated. With her own desires and a spark of rebellion in her eyes, she becomes a force to be reckoned with. [caption id="attachment_2238" align="aligncenter" width="768"] 'The Bride!'Warner Bros.[/caption] A Love Story Ignited, a City in Turmoil As the story unfolds, a forbidden romance blossoms between the Bride and the monster, a tender connection forged in the face of their shared ostracization. But their love story is far from a fairytale. News of their existence reaches the police, setting off a chain reaction that throws the city into turmoil. A Catalyst for Change The Bride's arrival sparks more than just fear and chaos. She becomes a symbol for the marginalized and the ostracized. Her very existence ignites a radical social movement, forcing the city to confront its prejudices and grapple with the meaning of humanity itself. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Maggie Gyllenhaal (@mgyllenhaal) A Stellar Cast Brings the Story to Life Beyond the captivating central performances of Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, "The Bride!" boasts a powerhouse supporting cast. The ever-versatile Penelope Cruz, known for her captivating screen presence, joins the film alongside the accomplished Peter Sarsgaard and the legendary Annette Bening. This ensemble cast promises to deliver unforgettable performances that will add depth and intrigue to the narrative. A Modern Reimagining of a Classic "The Bride!" isn't just a monster movie; it's a thought-provoking exploration of identity, love, and the human condition. With Gyllenhaal's vision at the helm, this reimagining promises to breathe new life into the classic tale, offering a fresh perspective on themes that resonate deeply even today. The wait for "The Bride!" may be a while yet – the film is slated for release in October 2025. But with these first glimpses and the promise of a stellar cast and crew, anticipation is sure to rise. This monstrous romance is poised to be a captivating addition to the Frankenstein mythos, leaving audiences questioning everything they thought they knew about this iconic story.
