TV: Bobby Cañero-Reed

Elena Cañero-Reed (Gina Rodriguez, también productora) es, con toda seguridad, la primera presidenta latina en la historia de los Estados Unidos. Está a punto de dar su discurso a la Nación cuando recibe, de parte de su madre, el diario que escribió cuando tenía doce años y estaba comenzando a afrontar la pubertad, además de preguntarse cuál sería su destino en la vida.

De niña (aquí es interpretada por Tess Romero), vive con Gabi, su madre recientemente viuda (Selenys Leyva), el compañero de trabajo y luego novio de ésta (Michael Weaver) y Roberto, alias “Bobby” (Charlie Bushnell), su hermano mayor. 

Bobby (de él hablaremos en este post) inicia un noviazgo con Monyca (Avantika Vandanapu) y su relación, aunque algo fría, parece andar sobre rieles. Hasta que, al quedar encerrado en la escuela con su amigo y compañero en las prácticas de tenis, Liam (Brandon Severs), empieza a darse cuenta de ciertos sentimientos hacia él que desconocía o había ignorado.

“Diary of a Future President”, la serie de Disney+ (por lo menos la primera temporada) no define mucho del personaje, pero deja la puerta abierta hacia la continuidad de su historia. Por cierto, tampoco carece de personajes LGTBQ: por allí encontramos a un compañero de Gabi y a un estilista casados y a Camila (Jessica Marie Garcia), la mejor amiga de Gabi, que vive con otra mujer (y aún no ha “salido del armario” con su familia) y es la primera en intuir en Bobby a un gay de closet.
