there's something special about soaps. they're a rare brand of chaos and toxicity that don't exist anywhere else on tv. im giffing eastenders from 16 years ago and it'spure madness. ronnie just took thousands of jack in a poker match. she tells him she wants to buy a club. he buys the club out from under literally just to win!! he doesnt know anything about running a club! and THEN he offers to go 60/40 with her!!! this man is insane!!!!!! he's gonna pretend she's the owner??? then obviously he's gonna tell her whole family??? like why don't soap characters just sleep with each other like normal people

. Skins is like a cultural reset. Of its time that's why shameless and skins are my 2 comfort programs and I’ve repeated them on loop now about at least 50 times in the last three years because it’s so damn good they both are so damn good on British culture and how we are the essence of it the skins is called skins after rizzler papers and it must have been made just around the time before it became illegal to smoke in pubs. I know because on Ann was the one who’s closest in age to me, in real life and cook, but I mean generation one obviously when it was made. It must have been 2006 to 2007 and if you watch and listen to are you Michelle from skins by April Pearson, she interviewed some of the cast from each generation , she’s had every what generation she’s interviewed rich, Frankie, maxi, live, grace. How being marginalized into a group because you were in one TV show that everybody remembers you for that character whether it be good or bad.. most of the time it’s good. And EastEnders people get axed a lot some people get axed more than others ohh where they temporarily get axed. Take for instance Jesse Wallace, who plays Kat Slater., has had issues with alcohol over the years but because she’s such a popular character people resonate with cat and her persona her look her style some girl relates to cat on some, Or one of the slightest sisters cousins whatever there’s so many, there’s always like one Kardashian you resonate with. Because these shows are more geared at women right. But men like these two I think when you’re stuck at a certain age as well or you’re autistic, ADHD. Or any sort of like learning disability you can relate to these shows that takes you to a time you felt happy and secure. It’s one of those TV shows where actually uses teenagers as characters rather than people like think briefly would like 25 , he will probably not far from balding as men.g I get in America at the age of consent of a couple years older so they have to use older actors which I do think is better because the character the actress the place Michelle, says how traumatic she found the sexy things at that age and I think it’s tea onto, and the right is we’re only a couple years older than the people in it apart from like the producer I think and I wrapped writers. I’m talking about body shaming back then from those kind of men he ran behind it. Directors can be some of the most icky people I think in the business they’re spending a lot of time with actors and actresses at the state of vulnerability Tacoma naked etcetera, and the actress who plays airfield can never say her name. Was around all day so at 14. It just makes you think how raw and real these emotions.

Came across this on Tumblr a few days ago, it amused me for a couple of hours or more, filling it in, while watching QI.
 Fandom Questions
 1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?
Star Trek: Voyager, I suppose at least for reading. Started writing with Stargate SG-1.
 2. What is your latest fandom?
I dip in and out of lots of fandoms on and off, the most recent ‘pick up’ is Ballam from Eastenders, I don’t watch soaps, but Robron and Ballam both appear a good bit on my tumblr, so I eventually gave in to checking them out via fic and youtube – thank god for youtube, lol! I still don’t watch soaps, but I watch those storylines!
 3. What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in?
Gosh, that’s... actually no that’s really easy. Primeval. For anyone not familiar, it’s a ‘silly little dinosaur show’ produced in the UK. It had 4 short seasons, with a somewhat revolving main cast – although they managed to keep 3 of them through all 4 seasons – but the fandom was/is amazing. I made life long friends through the fandom and even though I don’t write much any more I still read some and still talk with those people.
 4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms?
I would say no. I can’t say every fandom has always been amazing – ship wars anyone! – but mostly fandom has been a very positive experience in my life.
 5. Which fandoms have your written fanfiction for?
How long have you got... in genuinely no particular order (basically as they came to me) Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voy, Ent & Reboot Movies), Marvel, Kingsman, Person of Interest, Due South, Quantum Leap, Firefly, Buffy/Angel verse, Harry Potter, The Sentinel, Torchwood(/Doctor Who), Hawaii Five-0, Shadowhunters, Sherlock, Primeval, Emmerdale (Robron), NCIS, CSI (Vegas, NY & Miami), White Collar, Empire Records, Bull, Diagnosis Murder, MacGyver (the original), 1-800-Missing, CHAOS, Without a Trace, M*A*S*H, Charmed, Queer as Folk (US), Will & Grace, Bring it On, Nash Bridges, Magnificent 7 (TV series), House, Babylon 5 – I think I got them all... a few of those were one time only deals, but a lot of them have more (anywhere from 2-52 (or more still!) ranging from 100 word drabbles, to thousands of words – hey I’ve been writing fic for 21 years... you tend to amass a lot of fandoms...
 6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
Oh geez, here we go, lol! Okay...
 Stargate SG-1: Jack O’Neill/Daniel Jackson
Stargate Atlantis: Rodney McKay/John Sheppard
Star Trek: Elim Garak/Julian Bashir, Chakotay/Tom Paris, Jonathan Archer/Malcolm Reed, James Kirk/Spock – I don’t particularly have an ‘otp’ in TNG, the couple I’ve written were Picard/Data, I’ve also dabbled reading Data/Gordi)
Marvel: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Kingsman: Harry Hart/Eggsy Unwin
Person of Interest: Harold Finch/John Reese
Due South: Benton Fraser/Ray K
Quantum Leap: Sam/Al
Firefly: Malcolm Reynolds/Simon Tam
Buffy/Angel Verse: Buffy/Giles, Angel/Spike, Xander/Spike, Willow/Tara
Harry Potter: Harry/Draco, Harry/Hermione, Harry/Hermione/Draco
The Sentinel: Jim/Blair
Torchwood: Jack/Ianto
Hawaii Five-O: Steve/Danno
Shadowhunters: Magnus/Alec
Sherlock: Sherlock/John, Mycroft/Lestrade
Primeval: Nick Cutter/Stephen Hart, James Lester/Hilary Becker Emmerdale: Robert Sugden/Aaron Dingle
NCIS: Gibbs/DiNozzo CSI: Nick Stokes/David Hodges, Mac/Danny, Horatio/Speed White Collar: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth
Empire Records: Joe/Lucas
Bull: Benny/Jason
Diagnosis Murder: Steve/Jesse
I’ve left a few out where I don’t have particular OTPs
 7. List your NoTPs from each fandom you’ve been in.
Here we go again... lol!
Stargate SG-1: Jack/Sam, I just... no. I’ve read a few where it’s a background or secondary pairing, but it always makes me wince a bit. I’ve read a few with Sam/Daniel as a secondary pairing that didn’t make me react that way and I’ve read Sam with other characters, but Jack/Sam just is a nope for me.
Stargate Atlantis: McKay/Keller – no, just no. that was horrible. She treated him like... awfully, trying to change him to suit her, just... no.
Marvel: Contentious, but Tony/Pepper, also Peter Parker/Tony Stark. Maybe because I saw the movies before I ever looked at the comics, but meh.
Due South: Benton Fraser/Ray V – again, contentious, but honestly I think Ray V was kind of a shit friend to Fraser.
Firefly: Anything with Jayne. No really, I just can not stand the character. I spent most of the series wanting to punch him in the face and sometimes you get characters you love to hate, but I just hated him.
Buffy/Angel Verse: Buffy/Spike, Willow/Kennedy
Harry Potter: Ron/Hermione, Ron/Harry, Harry/Ginny... basically, Ron and Ginny should just be loveless hermits who live by themselves. Ok, no, that isn’t fair... but as much as Ron was Harry’s first friend, he was selfish and bitter and Ginny/Harry just... never sat right with me. Ron literally says she spent ‘all summer talking about’ Harry, when she’d met him for all of three seconds. She didn’t know him. It always felt like she fell more in love with the *idea* of Harry Potter, than Harry Potter himself.
Sherlock: Sherlock/Molly, he’d eat her for breakfast. Serious, she’d never survive him.
Primeval: Oliver Leek and anyway. Arg. Creepy little dude is creepy and evil.
NCIS: Ziva/DiNozzo – ugh, just no.
Again, I’ve left out ones where I don’t have particular NoTPs
 8. How did you get involved in your latest fandom?
Tumblr, god damned bitches posting gifs of pretty boys falling in love, roped me in!
 9. What are the best things about your current fandom?
I dabble in several fandoms at once... but if we go by ‘most recently picked up’ as ‘current’ we’re talking Ballum, which hey, it’s always fun to have an actual canon pairing be my OTP, that’s rare for me, lol.
 10.  Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?
Well (so far) I haven’t written any Ballum. (I say so far, because I’m a realist, lol). I rarely read in fandoms and not end up writing in them at some point. Although I have probably dabbled in a few I’ve not written for, but if I read it with any sort of consistency, I mostly end up writing it. I am weak!
Ship Questions for your Current Fandom
 11. Who is your current OTP?
Okay, so that list above, just basically go with that. While I do drop in and hour of fandoms and some I certainly read in more than others, I do tend to go back to fandoms... If we were talking about what I’m mostly focused on writing atm... Steve/Tony, Mycroft/Lestrade, Harry/Draco and Robron are ones I’m currently working on most.
 12. Who is your current OT3?
I’m not currently writing anything that’s OT3 with any real focus. I have a couple of Neal/Peter/Elizabeth WiPs that I will at some point finish, but they aren’t a big focus just now. I did recently read a fabulous Neal/Peter/Elizabeth fic that’s been on my tbr list for ages.
 13. Any NoTPs?
Just... see above, lol!
 14. Go on, who are your BroTPs?
Harry Hart/Merlin, those two are Bro’s until the end and I will fight you on this. Also, Eggsy/Roxy! OMG they are such a BroTP! And Tony/Pepper/Rhodey – I may no like Tony/Pepper as a pairing, but I love them as best friends and of course, our Rhodes, because again, I will fight you on this, they are awesome and Tony needs his best friends!
 15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?
I’m not sure there is. I suppose I’ve read a few fics for some random pairings over the years, but nothing that’s made me really ship-ship them. I like Clint Barton/Bucky Barnes, after seeing it as a secondary pairing in a Steve/Tony fic, but I’ve seen that pop up a few times since, so maybe it won’t stay obscure for long!
 16. Are their any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike?
Jack/Sam, Tony/Pepper, Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Buffy/Spike – they all seem to be het pairings, oops. But I am mostly a slash fic reader/writer, so I suppose that’s not too surprising.
 17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?
Jack/Daniel from Stargate SG-1. I still love them. I still read them, although it has been a while since I’ve written them on their own (I have got some SG-1/SGA x-overs where they feature)
 18. What ship have you written the most about?
I’m genuinely not sure... without going and counting (and I’m not going any counting!) I’d guess Jack/Daniel, McKay/Sheppard, Jack/Ianto and Steve/Danno.
 19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?
No, not that I can think off. I either like it or not. I do occasionally feel bad for not reading a fic if it’s an author I really like, but I don’t read that fandom or pairing, but nothing specific.
 20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?
Robron and Ballum, lol. I do not do soaps!
  Author Questions
 21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?
Stargate SG-1, Jack/Daniel, a story called The Dare, The Disaster, The Almost Happy Ending, And The Very Happy Ending – it was awful. Don’t go looking, lol!
 22. Is there anything you regret writing?
Don’t we all? No, I wouldn’t specifically say so. There are certainly fics, especially older ones, I wish I could have written better, but nothing I’d go, ugh I should never have done that.
 23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Uh... honestly that’s really hard. I... um... yeah, I don’t know, really. I wrote a nice little flower one in POI that I felt worked rather beautifully. The Language of Flowers. An I wrote an SGA fic for NaNo a few years ago, called A Different Life, but it’s not online, because I didn’t finish it yet and I knew I wasn’t going to finish it any time soon, so I didn’t feel it was fair to leave it up unfinished (there is a reason I don’t read WiP fics and I don’t post them either, because I know how much I hate unfinished WiPs) Edit: After writing this I reminded myself of a POI fic I wrote called Hours of Separation – It’s a Harold/John break up story that I always intended to write a sequel too where I ‘fixed’ them, but I just couldn’t do it. I broke them a little too well. But I really love it actually.
 24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit?
The afore mentioned A Different Life needs to be edited and finished, lol! Also a Primeval fic with the working title Crypt Keeper (don’t ask) that I worked myself into a bit of a corner on and I figure out how to fix it, but I haven’t done it yet, so it’s still needs fixing and finishing, lol!
 25. What’s your most popular fanfic?
I haven’t the foggiest.
 26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?
Sometimes, really easily, a quote, a line from the fic, a song title... other times it’s like pulling teeth, hence working titles on things like ‘crypt keeper’ which is a reference to one scene near the very start and has no actual hint of the plot, lol!
 27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?
Oh the titles. Summaries you can just copy a few lines from the fic if you are desperate, if you had to post ‘untitled mcshep fic #67’ people would get cranky, lol, hell I’d get cranky!
 28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?
Oh... I... huh. I mean who wouldn’t love fanart for their stories? Any of them honestly! But if I had to choose just one... I guess something in my Animal Instinct verse, which is Primeval (although I always intended to write other fandoms in the verse) where some people transform into animals, based on their ‘spirit animal’ and some art of the characters with their spirit animal form would be awesome.
 29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not?
Sometimes, look if you’ve read this far, you know I write in a lot of fandoms, lol. In some fandoms it’s easier than others to find beta readers. Also, sometimes if it’s just something short, I won’t bother. But I do try for my longer fics.
 30. What inspires you to write?
That old adage, if you want to read it, sometimes you just have to write it? Spite? Boredom? Honestly sometimes I just have ideas I have to get out of my brain and it’s write or go mad(der)
 31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?
That it inspired them to write something.
 32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?
Sometimes, sometimes I find it distracting when writing because I end up singing along and forgetting what I’m writing, lol! I do sometimes get inspiration from songs, I guess mostly from the lyrics, but no particular band or genre – although I listen to a lot of country music!
 33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics?
Little from column a, little from column b... littler still from column c...
 34. What’s the word count on your longest fic?
Around 60k, I think.
 35. Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about?
I have. Primeval had/has a week drabble challenge, mostly when I’ve written drabbles it’s been for a challenge, with a specific prompt.
 36. What’s your favourite genre to write?
Uh... I mean, my fandoms really span the genres, but I guess sci-fi or crime are probably my favourites.
 37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why?
Third mostly, I have occasionally written in first person, if it felt like the fic needed it.
 38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?
Little from column a, little from column b... it depends on the fandom and the story. Sometimes you just need more characters, mostly they are minor roles, I don’t tend to write much established character/oc fic
 39. What is your greatest strength as a writer?
Ability to convince myself people will want to read it, lol! No actually to be honest, I love to know people read and like my stuff, but I gave up a long time ago on trying to ‘please’ people with what I write. I write what I want to read.
 40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Focus. The problem with 21 years of fandom history, is well... 21 years of fandom history. A lot of fandoms, a lot of pairings and as I say, I never really ‘leave’ a fandom, I just drop in and out and sometimes that means I’ll write on something consistently for weeks or months and then end up getting distracted by another fandom again and not touch it for weeks or months again. Hence, I don’t post WiP fics, because I know I’m easily distracted and don’t want anyone to suffer my lack of focus but me.
  Fanfiction Questions
 41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
I don’t read WiP fics, so yeah... but 5 I’ve recently read in different fandoms that I’ve really enjoyed
Turns Out, I Have a Rose Garden by betheflame (Steve Rogers/Tony Stark)
Lucky by china_shop (Neal Caffery/Peter Burke/Elizabeth Burke)
Colors by Quesarasara (Sherlock/John)
Betrayal by Blackghost7 (Gibbs/DiNozzo)
Matchmaker (Part 1 of the Marmalade Series) by HastaLux, Mottlemoth (Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade)
 42. List and link to 5 fanfiction authors who are amazing:
See now this is hard, because... ahh so many...
FredBassett – Primeval author, her Stephen/Ryan series is epic and brilliant and endless
https://archiveofourown.org/users/fredbassett/pseuds/fredbassett
Keira Marcos – I know other people will have said her, I don’t care. I love all her stuff, across all the fandoms she writes in
http://keiramarcos.com/
theapplepielifestyle – her Steve/Tony is amazing. Hands down some of the best I’ve ever read. I will fight you on this.
https://archiveofourown.org/users/theappleppielifestyle/pseuds/theappleppielifestyle
JillyJames – her Tony DiNozzo is a real life grown up... exactly as he should be considered given he’s a goddamn federal agent!
https://jillyjames.com/
missbecky – I’ve read pretty much all her Steve/Tony and Harry/Eggsy and it’s awesome.
https://archiveofourown.org/users/missbecky
Honestly, I could have listed so many more, but, I’m being good!
 43. Is there anyone in your fandom who really inspires you?
Everyone. The thing is, fandom at it’s best is like crack, the more you get, the more you want. The writing, the gifs, the art... it feeds you and makes you want to make more of it, because more of it needs to exist and if that means you need to do it yourself, so be it!
 44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?
ALL OF THEM!
 45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?
Oh hell no, not even, I can not. It took me an hour to narrow down 5 authors, I can not narrow down one fanfic!
 46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
I mean, it depends on what they like... probably the Hour of Separation I mentioned above, if they like the fandom/pairing, or my Animal Instinct stuff.
 47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why?
Archive of our Own. I haven’t touched ff.net in *years* since they started getting super restrictive about what you could post. I do occasionally post stuff to tumblr, but mostly I now post to AO3. I did have my own site and I’ve yet to upload a lot of stuff to AO3 – one of these... months... that will be a project – but it’s amazing. Seriously, having been in fandom 20+ years, going from having to search all over a million different places and now it’s all in one place, where we’re honestly, spoiled and protected. The kids now have no idea how crazy impossible that once seemed.
 48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not?
Yes, but not as often as I should. I love AO3s kudos button, so I can sort of say ‘hey I enjoyed this’ without having to comment, because I sort of hate leaving comments just going ‘hey I enjoyed this’ because I always feel like I should say more, like, oh I enjoyed this specific thing, which yes is an unnecessary hang-up, but there ya go.
 49. Do you care if people comment/reblog your writing? Why/why not?
Of course it’s nice to get comments, kudos, reblogs etc. I’m not as attached to them now as I was when I was younger, because I learned along the way that it was more important that I like what I’m writing than that other people do, but it’s still nice to know that something I’ve created is enjoyed.
 50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?
I went looking for Star Trek Voyager stuff online, pics etc, waaaaaaay back when! And I came across fanfiction entirely by accident... and I read some – het stuff mostly, then I started watching Stargate SG-1, went looking for fanfiction for that, but was not on board with Jack/Sam, found Jack/Daniel went ‘huh really? That’s weird’ read it... and yeah... 21 years later... lol!
 51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Ship Wars. No seriously, just don’t. Like, who the actual fuck cares. I like my ship, you like your ship. I don’t care if it’s canon or not. I don’t care if it’s popular or not. I don’t read my NoTPs, but I’d never dream of telling someone else not too. Yes I think they are terrible, bad, no good pairings, but that’s *my* opinion. Don’t try to change my mind and I won’t try to change yours. I avoid them like the actual plague. If someone starts that shit around me, I will shut it right down. You are a dick. Go to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect £200.

I’m A Celeb!
Hello everyone! I know I’m late to the party once again, but due to being in work till late last night I’ve only managed to get round to watching I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, instead of being in Australia this year, the campmates have ventured to Abergele in the North of Wales in a castle named, Gwrych Castle. I’m sure you’ve all been made aware by now that not one, but two EastEnders stars have signed up to be part of the show.
Ex-EastEnders stars Shane Ritchie (Alfie Moon) and Jessica Plummer (Chantelle Atkins) have signed up to take part in this years I’m A Celeb!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what a kick start to the show it was! Half of the campmates found them selves having to abseil down a rocky cliff to collect their bags, but only if they were to answer questions correctly about the group, would they be able to unlatch the bags from the cliff. The other half of the team had to help them out while they watched on from the rocks below. They successfully completed their task and were then taken to their final destination of the castle, where they’ll be staying in camp.
Shortly after making themselves comfortable in the camp, Ant & Dec approached the group and informed them that that very night they would all be facing a bush tucker trial, named The Gates To Hell, together as a group. The trail involved the campmates being locked in individual chambers whilst they passed gold stars to each other from one end of the chamber to the other, whilst also being covered in all sorts of insects including crickets, maggots and cockroaches. They successfully managed to get 7 out of 10 stars.
The following day, Ant & Dec once again joined the group and announced that the votes for the following bush tucker trial were in and revealed that Shane Ritchie would be taking part along with camp mate Jordan North.
My first reaction to the show has been pure excitement, this year has a brilliant line up of camp mates and I have to be honest, I’m looking forward to seeing how Shane and Jessica get on. I’m sure the majority of you will know that last years winner was Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning)!
Tumblr media
How amazing would it be if a fellow EastEnders cast member was to win it again this year! Are you routing for Shane or Jessica? Or both of them?! Do you think they’ll end up doing many trials?! Are you excited for this series as much as I am! Please feel free to leave a comment or message me! I’d love to hear your thoughts! Team Shane or Team Jess?! Either way, let’s hope one of them will come out the champion of I’m A Celeb 2020! xXx

Shipping Spring 2020
Yet again, I’ve been a bit lax in answering these tags, but honestly I do have an excuse: I’m a nurse. So thanks @gatergirl for the tag.
SIX SHIPS YOU’RE INTO RIGHT NOW  1. Ballum (Eastenders) 2. Spuffy (Buffy) 3. Sterek (Teen Wolf) 4. Literati (Gilmore Girls) 5. Sherlolly (Sherlock) 6. Jackie/Robbie (Taggart)
THREE SHIPS YOU LIKED, BUT DON’T ANYMORE 7. Rory/Dean (Gilmore Girls) 8. Nick/Greg (CSI) 9. Spirk (Star Trek)
THREE SHIPS YOU NEVER LIKED 10. Rory/Logan (Gilmore Girls) 11. Wincest (Supernatural) 12. Eggsy/Tilde (Kingsman)
TWO SHIPS YOU’RE CURIOUS ABOUT, BUT DON’T ACTUALLY SHIP 13. Drarry (Harry Potter) 14. Hartwin (Kingsman)
QUESTIONS
1. Why do you dislike 11 so much? They’re brothers, they shouldn’t be shipped.
2. Who is someone you know that ships 14? @gatergirl
3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple 3? Just for them to be canon. Jeff baited us with Stiles’ sexuality from the start, especially when it came to Derek, so we deserve Sterek.
4. Which is your favourite moment for 1? Callum signing ‘I love you’ in response to Ben’s “I love you”
5. How long have you been following 5? For this one I know the exact date: January 1st 2014 when we had the kiss during Anderson’s theory of how Sherlock faked his death.
6. What’s the story with 8? What made you stop liking them/caring? The series ended, they were never canon, and so the fandom kinda died.
7. You have the power to make one ship non-existent, choose from 10 or 12. Goodbye Rory/Logan. He was never the right fit for Rory. And that way we wouldn’t have to worry about his (possibly) being the baby daddy from the series finale cliffhanger.
8. Which ship do you prefer; 2 or 4? I’d have to go with 2. Spuffy was my original ship. I first discovered fanficiton around 2008 when I was searching the internet for pictures of them, and they were my first foray into writing.
9. What interests you about 14? I like Colin Firth. I like Taron Egerton. I like their individual portrayals of gay men, so, maybe I’ll like them together...
10.  Why did you stop liking 7? Rory is better off with Jess, but other than that, Dean cheated on his wife with Rory and took Rory’s virginity at the same time. That ship just didn’t work out at all.
11. Did your waning interest in 9 kill your interest in the fandom? I’d say so. I have all three of the new films, but I’ve still to watch Star Trek: Beyond. However, there is also the fact that I don’t want to admit the fact that Anton Yelchin won’t be in any more films after Beyond, so, my waning interest cannot be completely at fault.
12. What’s a song that reminds you of 5? Let Her Go by Passenger. Sherlock only really came to realise his feelings for Molly after he found out she was engaged to Tom and then when he thought Eurus was going to blow Molly up did he realise he loved her.
13. If you could have any of these couples double date, who would it be? Maybe Spuffy and Sterek. That way they can trade notes on their own supernatural goings on and how California seems to have it all: the Hellmouth and the Nemeton.
14. Have 2 kissed yet? Oh, yeah, they certainly brought the house down once...
15. Did 4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn’t ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely? Nope, but they deserve their happy ending. The series ended with the iconic line “Mom, I’m pregnant...” but we were given a number of possible baby daddies [see Q. 7] If Rory and Jess were to get their happy ending, Jess would be the only possible dad.
16. What would make you start shipping 13? I’m almost there. I just need to make the final jump into the fanfiction because they weren’t canon in the books/films. I’ve seen some really good fanart and incorrect quotes.
17. If only one could happen, what would you prefer, 1 or 2? Ballum, after the upbringing these boys had, they deserve the love and happiness being with each other brings.
18. You have the power to decide the fate of 10. What happens to them? Logan would be married off to some socialite trophy wife that his dad approves of, and Rory would be with Jess [see Q 15].
19. Which of these ships do you love the most? They all have their own appeals, but at the moment, Ballum is the most active, so probably Ballum

OMG I actually used to watch Eldorado too 😂 Probably shouldn't admit this but I've had an inexplicable fondness for Jesse Birdsall ever since! Marcuuus! We used to watch ED when I was growing up and had no choice but I only came to like it about ten years ago. I just didn't really like any of the characters back then, whereas up until the last year or so I like almost all of them these days. Do let us know if Eldorado stands the test of time. It was unfairly maligned back in the day!
Yay two of us! Wasn’t Jesse Birdsall also in BUGS? I really like him. I remember a fondness for Dieter because younger me did like blondes.
TBH same about the characters, I’m finding fondness for more of them now than I did back then.
I only lasted about 5 minutes on youtube lol. It was expected to be another Eastenders I think rather than being allowed to stand on it’s own and when it didn’t live up to it it stood no chance.

Reviews // Prog 2034 (correction, of course we’re on) Prog2033 (sorry Mek-Quake do ‘Big Jobs!’ hurr, hurr!) ~  Judge Dredd Megazine 384
On your Thrill-merchant’s book stands this week...
Super-stoked to see mercurial magician. Brendan McCarthy return to Judge Dredd on this week’s two-parter, Hoverods. The artist was responsible for influencing the lawman’s look for a new generation of artists, following on from predecessors and contemporaries like Mick McMahon and Carlos Ezquerra, despite having his own distinctive visual style...or styles - he’s not referred to as the Great Reverso for nothing!
Check out his amazing work in films and television for evidence of his breathtaking skill, most recently, awesome concept art on Mad Max: Fury Road.
As usual his panels are riotous swathes of glorious technicolour, reminding us that comic book art can be action-packed fun, but still dealing with mature themes without being dour, grim-faced so-called superheroes - which I guess is why he keeps returning, albeit sporadically, to the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic!
Watch out for a crackling crescendo of colour cover art from McCarthy, next Prog!
This week’s creepy cover however, comes from the talented, Paul Davidson, featuring zombie scares from DEFOE.
Elsewhere, Colin MacNeil’s monochromatic shading in DEFOE brings an even more sinister edge to Pat Mills & Leigh Gallagher’s Middle Ages zombie thriller.
Also, BRINK & SCARLET TRACES, from the equally talented creative teams of Dan Abnett & INJ Culbard and Ian Edginton & D’Israeli, keep us coming back for more every week, with their thought-provoking, gripping yarns of off-world intrigue..
Splundid vur Thrigg, you lucky Earthlets!
JUDGE DREDD // HOVERODS Mega-City One, 2139 AD. Home to over 72 million citizens, this urban hell is situated along the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America. Tensions rest on a constant knife-edge, and only the zero-tolerance Judges — empowered to dispense instant justice — can stop total anarchy. Toughest of them all is JUDGE DREDD — he is the Law!  T.C. Eglington (w) / Brendan McCarthy (a). Judge Dredd created by John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra
BRINK // SKELETON LIFE The late 21st century, and through environmental catastrophe and industrial overload Earth has been reduced to a uninhabitable wasteland. Mankind finally evacuated the planet in 2072 and millions were housed in a number of deep-space Habitats. Bridget Kurtis, investigator with the Habitat Security Division, was involved in a sect-crime case that saw her partner murdered. Now, she’s a consultant on a new Habitat build… Brink created by Dan Abnett & INJ Culbard
DEFOE // DIEHARDS 1671. It is five years since London was devastated by the Great Fire, the inferno caused by a comet passing over the capital, and from the ashes rose the undead, hungry for the flesh of the living. Protecting the populace is former Leveller Titus DEFOE, who led an elite squad of zombie hunters. Having defeated the evil magician Faust, who was controlling the stenches, he tried to retire — but the reeks have returned once more… Pat Mills (w) / Colin MacNeil (a). Defoe created by Pat Mills & Leigh Gallagher
SCARLET TRACES // COLD WAR 1968. It is several decades since Mars waged war on Earth, and the major nations have access to Martian-derived technology. Britain, however, is still recovering from Martian bombardment in the 1940s, when much of the south of England was destroyed. This was followed by the arrival in the 1950s of two million Venusians, seeking refuge from Martian occupation. Now, the Martians are planning to wipe out the solar system… Scarlet Traces created by Ian Edginton & D’Israeli
CURSED: THE FALL OF DEADWORLD // PART SIX The planet that eventually became known as DEADWORLD was once a regular civilisation existing in a dimension parallel to our own. But the end of days is coming: riots, storms, food shortages. Creatures known as the Dark Judges are spreading their contagion, exterminating all life. Judge Fairfax and his ward Jess are being held by the resistance, but the militia stronghold has been infiltrated by the Dark Judges… Cursed: The Fall of Deadworld created by Kek-W & Dave Kendall
Not enough Thrills for you? Well, have a little lie down first, then go and get the latest Judge Dredd Megazine #384 and get yer fill o’ Thrills in the always exciting world of Judge Dredd...
Powerful psychic shenanigans on the cover featuring, of course, Psi-Judge Cassandra Anderson, from series artist Paul Marshall.
Also included in this month’s mighty Megazine are creative contributions from toop UK talents, including, Alan Grant (Batman), Dredd regular scribe, Tom ‘T.C.’ Eglington, Si Spencer (Harke & Burr, Hellblazer-Eastenders!) & Dan Abnett (Sinister Dexter, Kingdom, etc..), and unbelievable art from the likes of Karl Richardson ( Judge Dredd, Grey Area, Outlier) Paul Marshall (Judge Dredd, Firekind, Ulysses Sweet), Henry Flint (Judge Dredd, Zombo, Shakara) & Phil Winslade (Goddess, Lawless, Daredevil) - Zarjaz!
JUDGE DREDD // GECKO Mega-City One, 2139 AD. This vast urban hell on the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America is home to over 72 million citizens. Crime is rampant, and stemming the chaos are the Judges, empowered to dispense instant justice. Toughest of them all is Judge Dredd – he is the Law! There is little crime in HAVN, and those lucky enough to live within it walls want for nothing. Native Alfar Abby, who has been living there under a guise, has now been caught... Si Spencer (w). Henry Flint (a). Eva de la Cruz (c). HAVN created by Si Spencer & Jake Lynch
ANDERSON, PSI-DIVISION // DRAGON BLOOD Mega-City One, 2139 AD. Psi-Div is a section that specialises in Judges with accentuated psychic talents – from precognition to exorcism, it is at the forefront in the war against supernatural crime. Cassandra Anderson is Justice Department’s top telepath, and is now escaping from a hidden fortress in the Cursed Earth, where she’s been held prisoner... Alan Grant (w). Paul Marshall (a). Dylan Teague (c). Psi-Judge Cassandra Anderson created by John Wagner & Brian Bolland
LAWLESS // LONG-RANGE WAR Colonial Marshal Metta Lawson was appointed to the frontier township of Badrock on the planet 43 Rega, intent on stamping her authority on the colony. But in doing so, Lawson made many enemies, including Munce, Inc., the mega-corporation that funds Badrock, which has attempted to have her killed. Now, Munce is planning to dispose of Badrock once and for all... Lawless created by Dan Abnett & Phil Winslade

sometimes i forget how crazy old school jack/ronnie was. in the first few eps alone:
ronnie threatened to slash his tires for splashing her with water then threw water over him
faked being attacked to get money and jack was like ‘we’re the same!!’
betting thousands of pounds in a poker game instead of having sex like normal people

hey :) can i ask who your ultimate favorite soap characters are?
oooh that’s a really good question that has…so many answers. so many. i think i’m gonna break this down by soap? that might be achievable.
eastenders: look i can yell about ben and callum until the cows come home, but at the end of the day i have a deep love for bex and have for a while now. mostly because i can really relate to her in a lot of ways and she deserves the world.
emmerdale: i would kill a man for liv. straight up. i actually really wish they did more with her relationship with her mum, because the way it’s described liv is basically in the role of a young carer and that’s something that really doesn’t get enough exposure or attention. also, i really miss finn. like, a lot.
coronation street: ADAM. i thought i didn’t really have a favourite but no, it’s adam. honestly he’s just super entertaining, especially when rosie’s around, and i love his dynamic with his family something crazy. also he’s nice to look at.
holby: dom all the way. also jac. and fletch. i have a lot of Thoughts about current SLs and none of them are positive, ngl, but those three are def my faves.
casualty: jez and mickey are the characters that got me into casualty and i still love and miss them so much - but also i wouldn’t want them to come back because i think they got the perfect ending as it was. beyond them i don’t really watch casualty enough to get super invested in anyone, but i do love archie just bc like. genesis.
waterloo road: does wr count? its got soap levels of drama so i’m counting it (also i’ve almost finished it). because chlo grainger is an actual angel and tom clarkson is possibly the greatest character of all time, there i said it. tbf i have a lot of faves from wr (rachel, jess, justin, dynasty, kacey, finn, sam, sonya, janeece, kevin, rhiannon, maxine, bolton) but tom and chlo are head and shoulders above the rest.

Where are the Love Island winners now? All the couples from 2015, 2016 and 2017 - from engagements to LOTS of splits
http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=25091 Where are the Love Island winners now? All the couples from 2015, 2016 and 2017 - from engagements to LOTS of splits - http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=25091 Love Island fans have been glued to their screens since the ITV2 show launched in 2015. And, now, a fresh batch of super-hot singletons are in the infamous reality show villa. With the help of Caroline Flack and narrator Iain Stirling, they're competing to find Mr or Mrs Right under the glare of the spotlight. This year, Danny Dyer's daughter, Dani, is in the cast, along with a doctor, a solicitor, a government advisor and a lot of muscles. But what happened to the previous contestants? And does the dating show really work? Here, Mirror Celebs examines how many of the Love Island couples actually stayed together after the show - and where our favourite pairs are now... SERIES 3 - 2017 Winners: Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies (Image: ITV) These two were so adorable they sailed to victory, last summer. Unfortunately, despite scooping the £50,000 cash prize, they went their separate ways in Decemeber. “With sadness, we’ve decided to separate. Our schedules made it difficult. We’ll remain good friends,” a statement said. Fortunately, Kem has his 'bromance' with Chris Hughes to fill any void. They've already enjoyed a one spin-off show and will now front another, also for ITV. Runners-Up: Camilla Thurlow & Jamie Jewitt (Image: Rex Features) They notoriously got intimate in the villa - despite the presence of 69 high-definition cameras filming their every move. Yet, defying the odds, Camilla and Jamie survived the show intact. These days, the couple are still together and spend much of their time using their fame to promote charitable causes, such as World Cancer Day. Who'd have thought it? Third place: Chris Hughes & Olivia Attwood (Image: Comedy Central) This pair need little introduction. Despite having obvious chemistry, they constantly argued during their time in the Love Island villa - and then some in the real world. Although they gave their romance a go on their on TV series, Chris and Olivia: Crackin’ On, it wasn't meant to be. In fact, their messy break-up was broadcast to millions. Since then, Chris reportedly briefly moved on with ex-Corrie actress Georgia May-Foote, while Olivia is said to have reunited with ex-boyfriend, Bradley Dack. Fourth place: Marcel Somerville and Gabby Allen (Image: REX/Shutterstock) Once part of boy-band Blazin' Squad, Marcel was - rather ironically - considered the nice guy of the competition. His connection with Gabby delighted viewers who wanted them to win, but they finished in fourth place. A nine-month relationship followed, but this came crashing down when he cheated on her during a lads' holiday in Spain. He then accused her of cheating on him with Dan Osbourne - husband of former EastEnders star Jac Jossa. Recently, he confessed that she won't answer his calls - which is probably for the best... Jessica Shears & Dom Lever (Image: ITV) They were the first couple to be booted from the villa, but that hasn't stopped Jess and Dom from embarking on a relationship together. To prove it, the pair stripped down to their swimwear to get ‘married’ by Richard Arnold on Good Morning Britain. Thankfully, it wasn't legally binding, but the pair are planning their own nuptials. Watch this space... Series 2 - 2016 Winners: Cara de la Hoyde and Nathan Massey (Image: ITV) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Cara and Nathan were love's young dream when they hooked-up on series two of Love Island. They were arguably the strongest couple in the villa (had a few wobbles - nothing major) and were destined to walk away with the £50,000 cash prize, which they did. Cara even emerged from the show telling fans: "We will not let you down. We're going to get married and we're going to have babies." Well, the latter was correct but sadly the marriage prediction was not. Cara moved into a flat with Nathan in his native Essex, which saw them pop-up in TOWIE. They also spoke frequently in interviews about their inevitable engagement. (Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock) Then, in April, they announced a shock split. And a bigger shock followed just three weeks later: Cara was pregnant. She told OK magazine they hadn't been trying for a baby and had broken up around two weeks after finding out she was expecting. Fast forward to 6.30am on December 13 2017 and their son, Freddie-George, was born. They've both said they won't get back together for the sake of the child , but this also proved a dud prediction. The couple have since reunited and hinted on Instagram that more children may be on the horizon. Then in July 2018, while the latest series of Love Island was on telly again, they announced their engagement. Read More Nathan whisked Cara off to the villa where they'd met in Mallorca, blindfolded her and popped the question. Runners-up: Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen (Image: ITV2) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now These two had an interesting start on the show: they only got together after Alex had already slept with another contestant, Zara Holland. But they certainly made up for lost time, being crowned the show’s biggest rompers after having sex more than 30 times. They officially became boyfriend and girlfriend in the series finale, which Alex took to the next level by popping the question over New Year’s Eve, which they spent in New York. They now live together in Essex (with a French bulldog). (Image: ITV) The wedding will take place this summer and fellow Love Island star Cara de la Hoyde has already been snapped-up as a bridesmaid. Olivia recently told MailOnline: "We’ve got a lot sorted but the guest list is the hardest. "The ceremony is really small and we want to keep it family orientated. In the evening it’ll be party time!" Third place: Scott Thomas and Kady McDermot (Image: WENN) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now They starred in one of the most romantic Love Island scenes of all time - when Scott asked Kady to go official while kneeling poolside surrounded by candles and towels arranged to spell out the words, ‘Be my GF?’. Following the show, their romance went from strength to strength. They lived together in Manchester and spent time in Australia supporting Scott’s brother, ex-Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, while he was appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Unfortunately, they split just 18 months after leaving the villa. Fourth place: Katie Salmon and Adam Maxted (Image: ITV2) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Katie coupled-up with Northern Irish wrestler Adam, but it failed to launch. Once the show finished, they both confirmed via Twitter that they were 100 per cent single - and threw in a couple of cryptic metaphors. Adam said: “It's like when you're eating a kebab after a night out & the first few bites taste good but then u realise that it really isn't nice at all!” Katie retaliated: “It's like getting socks at Christmas. Practical but no fun.” Katie later confirmed a romance with model Dani Whittaker, while Adam is in a relationship with dance instructor Carly Taylor. Fifth place: Emma-Jane Woodham and Terry Walsh Er, and Malin Andersson (Image: WENN) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now This was one of the more fascinating Love Island storylines: Malin and Terry hooked up at the start of the show and seemed utterly inseparable. When she was booted off in a shock elimination, he vowed to go with her but she insisted he stayed behind to finish the experience. So imagine her shock when newbie Emma-Jane turned up at the villa and Terry was immediately smitten, leaving a stunned Malin alone at home watching their romance develop - which included a VERY racy sex scene Malin then rocked up at the villa to confront Terry in a rather awkward scenes, and Tel later admitted he was sorry for hurting Malin, but he didn't regret his actions. "I’m not going to stay with someone for the wrong reasons," he said. "I want to be with Emma and life goes on." (Image: FameFlynet) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now But, alas, it was not meant to be, and Terry and Emma later split. Terry announced the break up on Twitter, saying: "For people asking me or who it concerns me n Em have broken up. We’re still friends. One chapter closes another must open." Malin, meanwhile, who later spent £7,000 on surgery to look good on social media, was later linked to fellow Love Island star Tom Powell, who admitted to Daily Star in March: "It's somewhere in between being friends and a relationship." Tom Powell and Sophie Gradon (He was eliminated week five, she walked) (Image: ITV) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Their romance was tested when Tom's ex, Emma-Jane Woodham, turned-up out of the blue, but Tom and Sophie genuinely adored each other. That was clear when he was eliminated in week five, which saw devastated Sophie alone in the villa - until Katie Salmon arrived, that was, and they became the first-ever same sex Love Island couple. Days after coupling up with Katie, however, Sophie cooled things off as she just wanted to be with Tom. She then quit the villa, saying she didn't want to lose him - unaware a furious Tom had been tweeting about how angry he was. Sophie and Katie became the show's first same sex couple (Image: ITV2) (Image: WENN) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Afterwards, Sophie and Tom met up - on camera - and managed to patch things up, but had a rollercoaster romance until splitting months later. And it wasn't the most amicable of splits, with mud slinging on Twitter and allegations of cheating. Most recently, Tom has been linked to fellow Love Island star Malin Andersson, while Sophie found love with new man Ashley Ienco. They later broke up and she began dating Aaron Armstrong. Sadly Sophie died at the age of 32 on June 20, police confirmed. It's not thought to be suspicious. Rykard Jenkins and Rachel Fenton (She was eliminated week three, he walked) (Image: ©ITV) Their romance was one of the sweetest and most enduring in Love Island history; after meeting at the villa and forging a connection, the couple were torn apart by a twist that saw Rachel eliminated and Rykard told to remain on the island. But the thought of saying goodbye to Rachel when he'd just found her was just too much to take, so he dramatically quit there and then, leaving the villa alongside his beloved. One year on they’re still super happy together and, unlike other Love Island couples, have shunned the limelight to live a relatively normal life. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Series 1 - 2015 Winners: Jess Hayes and Max Morley Jessica and Max were crowned the first-ever winners of Love Island, sharing the £50k prize. However, the writing was on the wall when Jessica told Mirror Celebs less than 24 hours later: “We have a laugh together but we are not madly in love or anything like that.” So it was no surprise that two months later, the couple - who lived in different parts of the country - had split up, with Jess admitting: “Some things are just not meant to be.” Max added: “We gave it our best shot.” (Image: WENN) However, Jess seemed a little less amicable towards Max in a Facebook Live with Daily Star the following year, when she said: "You think you fancy someone but with Max, looking back at it now, it makes me cringe." "I would never, ever go near him again," she added. After the show, Jess found herself making headlines when she exposed her boobs at the Cheltenham Festival while attending with pal Katie Salmon - who would also go on to appear in Love Island . Max, meanwhile, went on to date Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby and fellow Love Island star Zara Holland. He also appeared in Ex on the Beach. Read More Love Island 2018 Runners-up: Hannah Elizabeth and Jon Clark (Image: ITV) Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now These two gave us our first - and only - on-screen engagement in series one, when Jon dropped to one knee and popped the question. Sadly for them, his grand gesture didn’t lead to them to victory (and that cash prize would have helped with wedding planning, given Hannah said she wanted the “biggest wedding ever” with a huge gown covered in Swarovski crystals.) In the end, there wasn’t to be a wedding: the couple called things off. (Image: Splash) Jon told OK magazine there was no animosity, they’d just been rowing and things hadn’t worked out. Hannah agreed, saying the engagement hadn’t been for show - they’d genuinely both loved each other and wanted to marry. Since Love Island , Jon's joined the cast of TOWIE alongside Chris Clark. Meanwhile, Hannah has found love with a new man, George Andretti, whom she's described as her "soulmate." Third place: Lauren Richardson and Joshua Ritchie (Image: WENN) These two paired-up as friends during their time on Love Island, two years ago. Sadly, romance didn't blossom for them, either. Lauren’s retreated from the spotlight over the last year, but Josh has been making his fair share of headlines. Joshua - who claims to have slept with more than 400 women - appeared in Ex On The Beach and had a brief fling with Stephanie Davis, following her split from Jeremy McConnell. Fourth place: Cally Jane Beech and Luis Morrison Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now These two actually dated before Love Island - but being at the villa gave them a chance to reconnect and remember just why they’d fallen for each other in the first place. The fact Cally was based in Hull and Luis lived in London had been a factor in why their relationship hadn’t worked previously, but after being thrust together on the show, the timing was just right. And they produced the first-ever Love Island baby! Cally gave birth to daughter Vienna Morrison-Beech after a 32-hour labour, saying: “The most amazing day and feeling ever. When 2 became 3.” WHAT ABOUT THE PRESENTERS? Caroline Flack and Andrew Brady Caroline Flack and Andrew Brady She hasn't always been an authority on romance - with a trail of broken relationships behind her (including Harry Styles, no less). But it appears that she's finally found Mr Right in the form of another reality TV star: The Apprentice's Andrew Brady. The couple got engaged earlier this year and he recently moved into her London apartment. There were rumours of infidelity (on his part), but these have been dismissed and the couple have recently returned from a loved-up holiday in Greece. Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore Laura Whitmore and Love Island star Iain Stirling Off-screen, Iain Stirling is far more successful than many of Love Island's contestants. He's been dating TV presenter Laura Whitmore for more than a year - and happily admits he's "punching above his weight" with the blonde beauty. Iain, who became well known for his sarcastic Scottish drawl as the voiceover of reality show Love Island, said he takes no offence at suggestions his girlfriend is better looking than he is. In an interview for the Chris Ramsey show, he said: “I don’t mind it, because it just means I’ve done better haven’t I? “I’ve got someone who’s like me, but much, much better. And Laura’s got someone who’s like her, but much worse. “I think I’ve done quite well out of it, but I’m dead happy because she’s lovely and stuff.” Source link

Cultured Dramaturgy: Bind Theatre @ Edfringe 2017
 Cult-ure
written by member of the 'Young Court' and Bread and Roses playwright circle, Jack Stacey.
‘DO NOT ABANDON LIFE AND GIVE UP HOPE. EMBRACE IT AND RESTORE YOU FAITH IN PEOPLE, CULTURE AND HUMANITY. THE CENTRE FOR A NEW WORLD. IT ALL BEGINS HERE’
Circled in their new support group, six young people all brought together by one thing – a journey from friendship to revenge. Cult-ure explores the effects of bullying and the true meaning of safety and support.
Their need to belong to something greater than themselves only brings them weakness and isolation. They feel support and in turn answer to their new higher power, a young man with drastic views.
Aug 14th-Aug 19th, 11:10am (V) £8.00 (£6.00)
Aug 21st-Aug 26th, 11:10am (V) £8.00 (£6.00)
What was the inspiration for this performance?
I first got the idea for ‘Cult-ure’ when I was watching a documentary about Scientology. I found it fascinating that people could be so brainwashed. I decided to look into why people allow themselves to be manipulated.
Is performance still a good space for the public discussion of ideas?
Absolutely! In my opinion, theatre can challenge your preconceptions in ways reading a paper or article can’t. Theatre lets you delve into a world that you might never see and makes it real. As soon as you see a person, a real human being on stage, it becomes personal. It enables people to sympathise, and empathy is necessary when discussing issues of real importance.
How did you become interested in making performance?
We all train at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and we thought it would be a great time to experiment with the type of work we aspire to create when we graduate. It’s such a competitive industry, and if you want to get your idea’s/views out there, the easiest way (not that it’s easy) is to produce it yourself!
Is there any particular approach to the making of the show?
We’ve been devising/improvising our show since September and just generally playing with what kind of play we wanted to produce. After getting a rough idea, up and coming playwright, Jack Michael Stacey, took over and wrote the script. We’d love to work with Jack again, he’s incredibly talented!
Does the show fit with your usual productions?
We’re a new company so we haven’t exactly got ‘a usual’. As Artistic Director, I’d say the sort of work that excites me is work that has something to say. I don’t want a play to just be entertaining, I want it to challenge you and make you think. ‘Cult-ure’ definitely fits that criteria.
What do you hope that the audience will experience?
It’s difficult because ‘Cult-ure’ isn’t a play with a singular political message, or one that highlights a specific social problem. It’s more of a play designed to make the audience feel at a loss as to what’s actually going on; the play should always be one step ahead of the audience. It’s meant to feel disconcerting and strange, with the reality of certain characters relationships being the only thing we can cling onto and call ‘our own’.
And even those, we find, aren’t exactly as they seem. We go on the journey with Jesse, we’re not observers of it. It’s a play designed to shock, confuse and ultimately hold a mirror up to our own lives and the inevitability of our fate. Highlighting the things that do actually matter, in amongst the tonnes and tonnes of pure rubbish.
What strategies did you consider towards shaping this audience experience?
The writing does most of it for us. I suppose the pace the play moves at helps a lot because you don’t have time to reflect; the idea is to feel as overwhelmed as ‘Jesse’ does.
Written by Jack Stacey in association with Bind Theatre, 'Cult-ure' is a new play that examines the human need to be part of something bigger than yourself, asking whether you are ever truly in control of your own fate.
Directed by and starring 'Eastenders' actor Charlie Jones, 'Cult-ure' is an exciting and innovative new play that pushes boundaries, asks questions and demands answers.
How much would you give to get a new chance at life? What would you do just to start again? The cost is simple - "You can never go back. Not that I think You'd want to.”
