Could you give some ornaments to Donita and Daphne please? And have a very very merry Christmas!!

Ohhhh, Daphne and Donita! Yes, absolutely, I’d love to give them ornaments! In response to this post! I’ve actually had some ornaments picked out for Donita, and a few of them I’ve decided to transfer to Daphne, anything for Daphne! Zach, Violet, and I love her so! Below cut due to length!

Daphne

So for Daphne we have 3 ornaments! Two of which are side by side! The first one I’ll focus on is this golden peacock! This is a clip on ornament with faux feathers from Walmart, another after Christmas steal my mom bought! Since Daphne was literally born into the world of fashion, with her mother being a fashion designer specializing in animal fashions, I feel like this is right up her alley. The feathers, the glitter, the gold, are very fashion forward, but not too much.

The next ornament is this beautiful glass bulb that belonged to my great aunt. It’s falling apart, but the unique hallow design, the intricate glitter pattern, and pink, silver, and gold coloration make it so unique. Since yellow is Daphne’s favorite/signature color, and the dark pink is Donita’s I feel like this ornament represents both of them, but it’s also kinda like…Donita is at the center, she’s in Daphne’s heart, and Daphne’s around her, as in Daphne is her “whole world.” If that makes sense 😊. The looping pattern also reminds me of Daphne’s necklace!

Finally for Daphne we have this smaller gold and glitter glass bulb. This ornament was hidden away in a pile of things in my bedroom that I found cleaning up this summer. It belonged to my great aunt as well, and I legitimately had no idea it was there. It was a beautiful and welcome surprise…much like Daphne was into the lives of her loved ones. A surprise that is beautiful, well loved, and cherished 🥹.

Donita

Donita is one of the first characters I started thinking of for the ornaments after Aviva.

For Donita we have to have some fabulous fashion forward ornaments, so the first ornament is this stylish little cat! This was a birthday gift from my parents this year! My family and I lovingly say this reminds us of our cat Jenny who passed last year. This ornament is perfect for Donita because one: it’s so fashionable and cute.

And two: maybe seeing the animals in outfits like this will convince her to not pose beam animals for use in her shows but to instead make clothes for them! She can sell said clothing alongside similar human fashions. So, like mommy and me clothing but for people and their pets!

Like the cat ornament above, this was another 28th birthday gift from my parents. This ornament gives me many of the similar vibes as the previous! Donita would just adore the pink basket and basket accessories, and she’s so obsessed with fashion accessories that the collar and bow on this cat just reflect her fashionista aesthetic perfectly.

Last but not least we have this beautiful clip on butterfly (another Walmart special courtesy of my mom). As soon as Donita would see this ornament she’d have to stop and do a double take to ensure it was not real. Because if it was real you can bet that she’d be taking this beautiful creature to use as a headband, hat, or other fashion accessory.

Can you give me a little more context on what Once Upon A Time is about?

What fairytale character do all the Hatchetfield citizens align with?

How closely does your AU follow either of its inspirations/what has it changed?

Once Upon A Time basically starts off with the Evil Queen cursing all the other fairytale characters to live in the miserable real world where the only happy ending is his own (and kind of rumplestiltskin's). The only person who can save the day is Emma Swan, the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who was sent through separately so she wouldn't be trapped in the curse. She gets roped into it when the son she gave up for adoption, Henry (who was adopted by Regina/The Evil Queen), seeks her out on her 28th birthday.

It goes off the rails even further each season and they have a really good musical episode in season 6 (Wicked Always Wins and Love Doesn't Stand A Chance my beloveds) If you want to know more, I will ramble in DMs until the cows come home if you want :)))

I've mapped out seven seasons worth of characters, so I'm only going to do the main ones:

Emma and Henry are original characters, that are literally just them with a new coat of paint, called Helen and Sammy, respectively.

Snow White is Pete, and Prince(ss) Charming is Steph. The Evil Queen (King) is Solomon Lauter and Rumplestiltskin is Ted.

I have had to adjust the lore because of this change. Initially, Regina had it out for Snow because young Snow couldn't keep a secret from the Queen of Hearts (Regina's mum) and got Regina's true love killed. However, because Evil King Solomon is related to Charming, not Snow, his vendetta against Pete is to provoke Tedplestiltskin (trademark me, myth) because Ted killed his wife instead of Steph ,as was the original deal.

I have also genderbent a couple of other characters, like Pinocchio is going to be Alice, when she shows up, and Wilbur Cross and Howard Goodman are Maleficent, and Maleficent's kid respectively.

I have simplified the chaos of the Swan-Mills-Nolan-Gold-Cassidy-Jones family tree as best I can by splitting some of the characters' functions in the story up. Like Pete, as Ted's brother, takes on part of the role of Baelfire, Rumple's son, as well as Snow White, and narratively the Darlings in Peter Pan, while I have another original character (the son of Jenny and Andy Kilgore, who will be Captain Hook), to take Bae/Neal's role as Henry's father, and later on, part of Captain Hook.

I am also killing off Solomon early, instead of my Neal OC, and giving Regina's redemption arc to Becky Barnes, who's acting as the Wicked Witch Of The West, because I said so.

And it's just changes that ripple off of these, mainly.

familiarity: ah, and here it begins, the album where my love for Coldplay began. I used to “steal” the CDs for this album and A Rush of Blood To The Head from my dad’s car and listen to them on our 5-CD boombox in the basement. I listened to “We Never Change” with all the wistful melancholy that a prepubescent child can possess.

favorite(s): Since I love Coldplay and they are My Boys™, I feel entitled to wax at length about my feelings on each album. because I have opinions. That being said, there are only two Coldplay albums that I consider to be true “No Skips” albums and Parachutes is very close...but not one of them. I would still highly recommend it to be listened to from start to finish. There’s no true “duds” on this album, just a couple songs that take some warming up to. While Yellow is, of course, a classic, I would pick a live version of it over the album recording any day. my personal favorite picks from this album are...Don’t Panic (one of their best and my favorite from this album), Shiver, Trouble, We Never Change, Everything’s Not Lost

May 21st: A Rush of Blood to the Head, Coldplay

familiarity: remember when I said that I only have two Coldplay albums that I consider to be perfect? This is number #1 out of the 2.

favorite(s): There’s not a single song on this album that I would ever dare to skip. This album should be enjoyed front-to-back often and with reverence. Not only are these songs all amazing on the album recording, but this album is best known for having the most songs that are staples to Coldplay live performances to the point that I was disappointed when songs like In My Place and God Put a Smile upon Your Face were not included on the setlist for their current tour. That’s the problem with having a 20+ year discography. You can play a 2-hour long show and still not be able to fit in all your best hits. In particular, those two aforementioned songs MUST be enjoyed alongside their live versions. God Put a Smile upon Your Face, especially. I love this album so much that I even struggle to pick a favorite. I long dream of them embracing this sound again but, at the same time, you could never replicate this album..Just...You Gotta Listen To This Album. That is my platform. That is my truth.

standout moment: I think I’m gonna hand my honorable mention to the bridge of Politik. life-changing bridge. Also, See You Soon, a song from this era that was never officially released but has a live recording is one of my absolute underrated Coldplay songs. Highly recommend.

May 22nd: X&Y, Coldplay

familiarity: notoriously the most hated Coldplay album by Coldplayers. if someone names this album as their favorite, it’s one of the most surefire ways to out yourself as not really listening to Coldplay. that being said, this album holds a lot of sentimental value to me and, as such, I think quite a few songs that I love like Low and The Hardest Part would be scoffed at by more reasonable fans.

favorite(s): My favorite from this album is Swallowed in the Sea. It’s attached to be a very specific and personal childhood memory for me, and I am very protective of it. I think we all have a song like that. Which is to say, seeing it crop up on Fjorester playlists all throughout CR2? Drove me mad. How dare you reduce it to a simple love song when it means so much more than that!! Other notable mentions from this album are X&Y (listen, and listen close, the lyric is “YOU become my best friend” not “SHE become my best friend”. Coldplay uses gender neutral pronouns more often than not which is why they are beloved among the queer community, you fools!!) and A Message.

standout moment: When the bridge hits in A Message and Chris’ adds on, with absolute devastation and heartbreak, “And I love you, please come home” to the chorus lyrics. yeah. We should talk about it more.

May 23rd: Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, Coldplay

familiarity: and here we have it -- the second perfect Coldplay album. I may be biased because this is the era where I saw them in concert for the first time and when I actually felt like I was a part of the Coldplayer community, but I think every song from this era -- Prospekt’s March and all the B-sides -- are worthy of praise as well. though I could take or leave most of the “remixes”. After X&Y, this album was a huge comeback for Coldplay. X&Y almost tore them apart, and every inch of this album is built on togetherness and love between four best friends who chose each other and the music they loved to make. Like A Rush of Blood to the Head, it has such a unique and distinct sound to it that, as much as I’d love to see it, I know that it’s not replicable.

favorite(s): My favorite from this album is 42, but my underrated favorite is Yes. Do the people know? Do they know that Yes is one of Coldplay’s sexiest and most sensual songs? Do they know? Also, the best version of Viva la Vida can be found on their live album, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, only now available on Spotify as of this year.

standout lyric: My standout lyric is actually gonna go to “Gravity, release me and don't ever hold me down / Now my feet won't touch the ground” from Life in Technicolor ii from the Proskept’s March EP. I can’t explain it; it’s just always meant a lot to me.

May 24th Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay

familiarity: Coldplay’s official entrance into the pop genre, and -- Damn, they did it with style. It was also the introduction the Xylo bands at concerts -- now a Coldplay staple. This is another album that has a lot of sentimental value to me. The first single, “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”, came out the day of my high school graduation and it was also the day that we had to put down our childhood cat, Annie. The full album was released on the day that we had to put down our childhood dog, Ellie. It was an album that was there for me during a year where it felt like I was having to say goodbye to my whole childhood. This album also saw a huge boom in the Coldplay fandom on tumblr. It’s since died down, but those were fun days.

favorite(s): My favorite song from this album is Charlie Brown. You know when you’re at a concert and suddenly everything seems to slow as you look around at the thousands of people who are there with you? Confetti rains down around you. Every nerve in your body is buzzing. You are elated and bright-eyed. and every single person is experiencing the same moment as you. all of you, together. and you are just hit with a wave of total adoration and affection for every single one of them? Yeah, Chris Martin captured that feeling with the last 35 seconds of Charlie Brown in 2011, and I have never emotionally recovered. Honorable mentions go to Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Hurts like Heaven, and Up With The Birds. Major Minus is also majorly underrated.

standout moment: when the instrumental shifts in Up With The Birds, and Chris sings “Might have to go, where they don't know my name / Float all over the world just to see her again”....yeah...i cry every time....

May 25th Ghost Stories, Coldplay

familiarity: ah, the divorce era. I honestly don’t have a lot to say about Ghost Stories. I see it as the yin to Mylo Xyloto’s yang. It was an intimate era -- quiet and subtle -- compared to the big, loud explosions of color that were the trademarks of MX. and, I think a lot of Coldplayers view it in the same way. It’s not an album for discussion and Opinions. it’s just an album for listening and nodding understandably.

favorite(s): My favorite song from this album is Oceans. When I went to see Coldplay live in 2016, our show got rained out, but they went out with a bang by playing A Sky Full of Stars. The energy in the stadium that night was and remains unmatched. To this day, 3 minutes and 3 seconds of ASFoS hits and I tear up....I just...love Coldplay so much...

standout lyric: “You’ve got to find yourself alone in this world” are the lyrics for the one and only tattoo that I am dead-set on getting one day

May 26th A Head Full of Dreams, Coldplay

familiarity: another notoriously hated album by Coldplay fans. which is a fact that I’m glad I found out much later because this album carried me through the worst years of my life. Coldplay really said “When you’re in pain, when you think you’ve had enough / Don’t ever give up” and I sobbed on the interstate, driving 70 mph, because I knew they were right.

favorite(s): Up&Up has my heart. It’s what hope sounds like to me. A Head Full of Dreams deserves to be used in some kind of cyperpunk/sci-fi media -- 1:50 and onwards? Perfect sci-fi ambience. I am in space. We are the universe and the universe is us. Birds is beloved amongst Coldplay fans, and for good reason. I also have a soft spot for Adventure of a Lifetime. It should also be noted that Everglow is only valid when it’s played live; the album recording is meh.

standout lyric: Gotta give it up to “When you’re in pain, when you think you’ve had enough / Don’t ever give up”

May 27th Everyday Life, Coldplay

familiarity: After the more pop-rooted sounds of the previous three albums, this album was a return to their more alternative sound -- with a lemon wedge of pop. In a lot of ways, this album listens to me like the culmination of all their previous eras. There’s elements of Parachutes, elements of A Rush of Blood to the Head, elements of It’s also the first album where Chris Martin let himself say ‘fuck’; we were all very happy for them.

favorite(s): My favorite song is Champion of the World. Honorable mention to Arabesque. The sax solo goes on just a little too long, but it’s otherwise perfect. I love any Coldplay song where they go a bit harder, dig a bit deeper with their sound, and Arabesque is definitely one of those songs. You also can’t go wrong with Sunrise, Trouble in Town, Orphans, Èkó, Everyday Life, and Old Friends.

May 28th Music of the Spheres, Coldplay

familiarity: It’s the day of the concert, and we have reached the most recent Coldplay album! This album is very hit-and-miss for me. Songs like Colortura and People of the Pride are easily two of the best amongst their entire discography, but they’re stuck on an album that feels very sparse and mid-tier. Out of all the albums that they’ve released before now, this one has felt the most incomplete and poorly executed. Coldplay always puts on a great show, but this album was truly saved by the graces of its best songs. 

favorite(s): The moment Coldplay dropped that minute-or-so long trailer video for Music of the Spheres and I heard that snippet of People of the Pride, I was in love. The moment I heard People of the Pride on the album, I knew I needed to hear it live. The moment I heard it live, I lost my goddamn mind. People of the Pride is easily one of the best Coldplay songs, and it makes saying this album isn’t that great so hard lol. If Coldplay would just release an album that’s full of songs like God Put a Smile upon Your Face and People of the Pride, they would be unstoppable, and I believe this whole-heartedly in my heart and soul. Colortura is also a masterpiece. It’s over 10 minutes long, and it should be. When the music box instrumental starts at 5:34, I ascend to a higher plane of being. I was so disappointed that they took it off the setlist of the tour, but also I would have been sobbing in that stadium if they’d kept it. Honorable mention to Infinity Sign for immortalizing the “Olé Olé Coldplay” chant, which is the best Coldplay chant, and to Humankind. Biutyful won me over eventually, mostly because it comes right after People of the Pride and I listened to People of the Pride so much, but it’s mostly saved by Chris’ solo vocals at 2:12.

standout lyric: “We’re only human / But we’re capable of kindness / So they call us Humankind”. Also, the last 30 seconds of My Universe are the best part. I love when it just sounds like they’ve having fun.

The Courtship and Marriage of Jamie and Claire ( A One Shot based on Serial Killer)

A/N @ladymeraud and I wanted to explore more of the orginal Jamie and Claire's courtship. This oneshot was the result. Enjoy.

In the year of our Lord 1739, Jamie Fraser found the other piece of his soul. It is in the form of a lass he first sees just from the back. Her long curly hair is the first thing he sees. She is crying in the arms of his Aunt Leticia. He doesn’t know then she would change his life.

“Jamie lad, before you head back to the stables, I need to talk with you about something.” His Uncle Column, Laird of Clan Mackenzie and the head of Castle Leoch says. Jamie is spending time here learning to be a Laird of his own land. He hurries over to him.

“Aye uncle.”

“We need to discuss your responsibilities as Laird, the responsibility you owe your clan members.” Jamie studies him, wondering where he is going. “The lass that left with your aunt is my new ward.”

“New ward. What happened?”

“A sad tale. Your Uncle Dougal and I hired her parents to be a tutor and midwife for our estates. Her father was working as a tutor for your cousin as his wife worked as a healer at the castle up to a month ago. They were felled by smallpox. By God's Grace the lass was spared. So she is now here as healer for Castle Leoch and under my protection.”

“Poor lass.”

“Aye. You see Jamie, you must protect those under your charge.”

“Aye uncle.” They eat lunch and discuss more clan business. The new healer doesn’t return that day.

Jamie has a gift for horses and works in the stables when not training under his uncle to be a laird. That even, as he brushes down the horses, he recalls his time at his Uncle Dougal's house. His late wife, he automatically says a pray for the rest of her soul, had gifted him with two daughters and a son. He had spent time with his cousins between his 13th and 15th year. He then went to his cousin Jarrod's in Paris to university. When he returned, after a visit to his parents and sister, at Lallybroch, he came to Castle Leoch to finish Laird training under the guidance of Himself, Column Mackenzie.

He sighs as he recalls the lasses that had chased after him at his return. Bonny lasses but not the One. Not the lass he sees his future with. The last, Leery Mackenzie, had been so aggressive that he ended up telling his uncle and her father to call her off. This had resulted in her being whipped in the Great Hall, and then sent off to a nunnery, where, her father,” hopes she will return to God and stop chasing after the lads.” Jamie had felt bad for her for a moment but, he had tried to handle her himself.

Two days later, he is walking in the garden when he spots her hair. Mistress Anderson’s. It flows free, as a maidens, behind her and around her face. She pushes it out of her face and he sees her eyes for the first time. They are the color of whisky and stop his breath. He almost falls to the ground. She doesn’t see him as she turns back towards the castle. He goes back to his own quarters at the stables soon after. He dreams of her eyes.

A Gathering is held at the end of the month. Himself, the Mackenzie, invites all the surrounding clans to it. It is here, Jamie, in full Highland regal clothes, is formally introduced to Mistress Anderson.

“Claire, may I present my nephew, James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. Jamie, my ward Claire Jane Anderson.” Column says.

“Your servant mistress.” He takes her hand and bows low before her.

“Nice to meet you.” With the hand Jamie doesn't hold, she clings to Leticia.

“Go on lass. The lad is a sweetheart. He won't harm you.”

“He is a gentleman and future laird. The son of my own sister. It is alright.” Column agrees with his wife.

She is coaxed on to the dance floor. She looks up into the bluest eyes she has ever seen and finds a peace in them.

“I am not such a good dancer.” She confesses.

“Nor am I. No head for the music.” She smiles and he is done. Just that easy, he is hers. They sway together through two songs. He then leads her over to get a drink.

“Thank you Mr. Fraser. I was thirsty.”

“Jamie. You can call me Jamie. May I call you Claire, Mistress?”

“You may Jamie.”

They dance, drink, and talk the rest of that night. He escorts her back to her quarters and asked to kiss her hand. She allows it.

They find time to talk and walk together each day after that. One day, she tells him about the death of her parents.

“I knew right away. The pox can't be confused with naught else. My mam caught it first. We keep ourselves in the coft. I nursed then as long as I could, even as I battled the fever myself. She passed first. The way my da wailed.” She shivered in the sunny garden and he places his hand over hers. She links them and continues. “He went soon after. I think he was anxious to catch up to her. After, I just waited to die. I knew I would. A week later, a Rupert Mackenzie, found me. Found us. He took me to the church. The nuns placed me in a cell and nursed me back to health. I don’t recall must of that but I was told that's what happened. My parents and the coft was burned.”

“I am so sorry Claire. Do you know I saw you here before we were introduced?” He knows a change in subject is needed.

“Did you?”

“Aye. I saw your glorious hair blowing everywhere. You pushed it impatiently back. That is when I first saw your golden eyes.”

“I saw you too. Not that day. No, years ago at Dougal’s. I was just a bairn of 11 or so.”

“Aye. I was there before going to University. Wait, I recall you. You would hide behind your mam's skirts.”

“I was painfully shy.”

Over the next month, they grow closer. With his Godfather Murtagh as chaperone, they spend every spare moment together. Jamie knows she is it, the One his da said he would find. He decides to ask his uncle for permission to court her.

“Uncle Column, you know that Claire and I have spent quite a bit of time together lately. I wish your permission to court her. I want to marry her.”

“Do you? I am pleased. I had hoped for such when I introduced you. Let's bring Claire in.”

She is sent for. When she is seated, Column urges his nephew to ask the lass.

“Claire Jane Anderson, I love you. I seek Himself’s permission to court you and marry you.”

“Claire, do you feel the same?”

“I do.”

“Very good. I grant it. You two will stay supervised while together and she may not marry until she is 18. I will announce the happy news at the Hall tonight. You two join me at the head table.”

“I am pleased to announce the official courtship of my nephew the future Laird of clan Fraser, James Fraser to Claire Jane Anderson. May their future be filled with love, laughter, and a large brood of bairns. Salute.”

A cheer goes up. Most inhabitants are happy for the new couple. A few lasses grumble. Leery wasn't the only one who wished to be Mrs. Fraser.

When Jamie walks Claire back to her room that night, with Murtagh, he asks for permission to kiss her. She gives it. Murtagh turns away, with a smile, given them privacy.

The kiss is gentle but confirms everything Jamie knew. She was the one created for him. He looks into her whisky eyes after and sees their future children. By the look on her face, she sees the same.

“Good night. I love you Claire.”

“I love you Jamie. Good night.”

He writes his mam that night telling her of his courtship and all about his future bride. He receives a letter a week later that expresses his families happiness and a promise to be there, if possible.

They spend time talking, really getting to know each other. He tells her about Lallybroch. She tells him of her parents and all they had taught her. They steal kisses as often as possible.

The yearning they both feel grows more everyday. But, with an ever present chaperone and his own upbringing, they stayed to only kisses. Her honor is all important to him.

A month away from Claire's 18th birthday, Jamie turns 19. Claire gifts him with a new shirt and gloves with the Fraser crest on them. Earlier, when she turned 17 he had presented her with a scarf, he had knitted with the same.

When she turns 18 he presents her with his mam's pearls to wear at their wedding.

“They are very precious to me Claire. As our you.” He said as he placed them around her neck. She cries and hugs him.

The wedding is set for Nov. 28th. His uncles gift them with a croft on the estate for a bit of newlywed privacy. He receives a package from his sister Jenny. It contains a new kilt for himself and a new shawl for Claire, as well as an apology. They won’t be able to make it as they are snowed in. Be is disappointed but knows the gifts show they are happy for them. A blessing for the wedding.

Claire’s dress is designed by the best seamstress at the castle. Layers of white and grey material that is intercepted with flowers and thistles, it is breathtaking. When Claire sees herself in it, she doesn’t recognize herself. A woman stands before the looking glass.

Jamie is outfitted in full Highlander regalia. From the new kilt, new shirt, sword, boots, tartan, secured by his family brooch, je suis pre, indeed.

He is surprised by one of the guests in the Great Hall. His grandsire, Simon Fraser, the auld fox, himself greets his grandson.

“I am honored to see you wed and represent your family.” He tells him. He hugs the old man before joining the priest.

Claire is earthreal as she walks down towards him on Column's arm. She lights up the Great Hall more then the candles ever could. He fills compete when her hand is placed in his.

The ceremony itself seems to last no time as the glance into each others eyes and repeat the vows. The priest turns away for the blood vow. Then they kiss and the world disappears.

They make their way back to the coft after many toasts and a few dances. They are both anxious to be alone and nervous.

“I won't jump you. We will take our time.” Jamie vows after carrying her over the threshold.

“I know my husband.” They do take it slow, shedding just the top layer of clothes. They talk and kiss as the candles burn down. Both are virgins.

Jamie, raised on a farm, knows the mechanics of the act and had been instructed on how to please his new bride. Claire, raised by a midwife, knows a bit too. But that is all head knowledge.

Their kisses get more frantic and they are soon down to shift and shirt. He then lays her on the bed. The kiss and touch until they are both to needy to wait anymore. His hand drifts between her leg. He finds her very wet.

“Claire, is it alright. I need..”

“Me too. Please Jamie.” With a quick prayer, he slowly eases into her. His eyes stay locked on hers. He has to make sure she is okay.

“Aye?”

“Aye.” He rocks a bit farther in. Each time gets him closer. Reaching her barrier, he seeks her permission. She nods. The pain is sharp but quick. It is followed by growing pleasure. She holds him tight as they find release together.

They fall asleep wrapped in each other and at peace with the world.

Three weeks later she brings lunch out to him to the stables. On top of the basket is a wee pair of socks. He looks up at her and she nods.

“We are to have a baby.” He yells out and pulls her into his arms.

The end.
