Don’t think sleep will come easily tonight. Far too anxious about tomorrow’s hospital appointment.?Trying to read my favourite book as a distraction 📖❤️ and yes, I’m wearing my clockwork angel necklace whilst reading The Clockwork Princess 😂! I’m extra like that! Seriously though, it makes me feel just a little bit better having a piece of my favourite characters with me. Jem Carstairs was the very first person like me I found in literature; palliative, but without a set diagnosis or timeline. It’s been an incredible comfort over the years to have Jem there to read about. Some people were mad he lived at the end of the series; I wasn’t. I was hopeful. Because if Jem could have that, maybe I could. Theoretically, I could live a long and normal lifespan. But I’m also very aware that any day could be my last; it just takes one spasm/seizure, one infection, one bad day. But I hope. And I have so much in my life to be hopeful about; including beautiful books that make long and dark nights just a bit more bearable.
