Okay re my last post. I just have to post one of these links on its own:

I cannot fucking explain how much seeing that this exists means to me. Like, I'm showing my age here, early child of the internet age and all, but. I've never seen this level of accessible language talking about disability online outside of a self-advocacy organization. This is so huge to me. This is something that a school counselor who doesn't even specialize in mental health could give to people. This has information on physical disabilities and invisible disabilities. This page layout and language is fucking accessible to a lot of kids and teens with disabilities.

I just. I know this probably doesn't seem like much if you're abled or from a liberal area or much younger than me. But like...I remember Before Facebook. I remember when Google was a finicky beast that required meticulous use of keywords to get anything worthwhile. I remember when trying to look up more obscure topics online got you the same three sentences from Wikipedia on thirty different sites. I remember when the DSM said it was impossible for someone to have autism and ADHD at the same time. I remember growing up in a military suburb, where the only way you could be disabled or have PTSD was from combat, and saying otherwise was disrespectful.

I remember, so fucking distinctly, every time I saw someone who acted like me (Raven from Teen Titans, who was prickly and sad and quiet but still got to be a hero. Artemis Fowl, who was clever and physically weak and and eccentric and allowed to change. Magnet, the vocaloid song, first listened to in secret at 2 am. N Harmonia, who empathized with the "wrong" parties and gained a unique view of the world from it. Magnus Bane, who got to be queer and talented and strange and loud and proud of all of it. Jem Carstairs, who was physically and psychologically dependent on a drug, who was disabled and bound to die young, whose found family never doubted for a moment that he was worthy of all the love they had. Steven Universe, who was fat and childish and emotional and was always allowed to have mixed feelings about his family without loving them any less. Even recently. Even now. John Constantine, who wants to do good and be good, who's paranoid and lost in his own head, who's pushed down by the world around him, who's forced to choose between his morals and his life, who's always been allowed to choose his life. The Hollow Knight, who burned up everything they had to meet a standard they knew was impossible, because they had to, because it was their responsibility, because no one else could, because they wanted love. Zagreus, who chases a dream that's almost certainly impossible, because he has a point to prove, because he has all these emotions with nowhere else to go, because he needs to do something, because he has to know for sure. And the list goes on. And on. And on.)

Basically, I'm incredibly fucking glad that the people who are coming after me have these resources, but I still think I have the right to be overemotional about them existing in the first place...because, until recently, they didn't.

I really don’t know? I love fairytales so much. I like beauty and the beast a lot and I also vividly remember the kids book I used to have for rapunzel which I’ve always really liked too

Quotes are like, my thing. I can quote basically anything I’ve ever read, I don’t know how I do it. I can’t do it for school or anything (Well I could for English class but that was it. I couldn’t apply it to textbooks or anything. Side note - also why I can still recite random things I haven’t gone near in years) anyways over the first lockdown I put some quotes up on my wall! Featuring ‘mon voeu’ from SW. There’s also a quote that’s incomplete - I stencilled them all in pencil first to do the layout before filling them in but somehow I forgot to paint half of one quote. I could fill it in but I honestly thought it was so funny, I just left it the way it is. It’s supposed to say ‘the winds that awakened the stars are running through my veins’ but it actually just said ‘the winds that awakened the stars are running’ which is just hilarious to me

(They’re not the best pictures but here!) I have a few other quotes around the place that aren’t included in these but I’m pretty sure this is enough for now😂

i really hate making a post like this tacked onto my commissions, but things are getting pretty rough right now. on top of job hunting, struggling when it comes to just buying food and other basic necessities, im being pressured into finding a new place to live. im 24, unemployed, on medication for mental illness, and have a 7yo cat. i have no idea where i could go! hoping to save up some money to at least find somewhere to stay.
