If you're still taking OC pride rambles, most of my OCs are either queer or undecided (ask about Paw-de-Deux's imaginary polycule, or Aida's "life goals or wife goals" crush on Demeter), but in particular Jabberjam is an eccentric costumer who is both a tom and a queen, thank you very much. They'll gladly enable romance in the tribe, and are very into cuddles, but get hives at the idea of mating themselves. Sex is more fun and performative, at least if you judge by their show which can be described as "if Tugger was a drag persona".

Headcanon about ✨Victoria Grove✨

Its actually this apartment building where Mungo & Rumple, Jennyanydots, and Blizzybard's humans live.

Jennyanydot's owner is the landlord and lives at the bottom floor, which is the only room in the building with a basement.

The two second floor rooms are inhabited by a family of four (Mungo and Rumple's family) and a Widowed Firefighter next door (Blizzybard's human)

Mungo and Rumple's humans have a balcony, which overlooks the front yard. Sometimes they would see Jenny or Blizzy while hanging out there.

Mungo, waving from the balcony: Hey Jenny! Up here!

Rumple: Mind if we borrow a cup of sugar?

Mungo: and some catnip too!!!

Jenny: Sure darlings! What for?

This is random and sort of OOC for this blog but I think Tugger and Bomba are very fertile. I think they have at least three or four kittens in their first litter and one of the little Queens grows a mane as big as her father’s. She is the most beautiful cat of her generation, and she knows it, but eventually she learns that looks don’t matter if you can’t have your Tribe by your side.

Something like that.

I am thinking a lot about my Protector OCs today.

Umbermalt’s silent and steady presence at Mercury’s side, intimidating and seemingly unapproachable, unfathomable, powerful and graceful as the sea but always there for those in need, the tribe’s rock in times of crisis.

Mercury himself very strict and fierce as a forest fire, just as intimidating as his second in command, always the first in the line of fire. But so soft towards Jellylorum, indulgent and adoring. How he love to read her stories and make her laugh.

Ceszarina and Asherix’s love could light up the whole yard, passionate but steady. Ceszarina practicing her martial arts while Asherix practices his own fighting, helping each other out despite their different fighting styles. Asherix cuddling all of the tribe kittens while talking about the big family he wants, Ceszarina smiling indulgently and eyeing him with adoration at how happy he is talking about his dreams.

Pollok’s clever mind always working, always a new idea. Seeing every scrap of junk as something potentially useful. Approaching everything with the same mindset, able to see the potential in anyone and anything.

Them all being close friends who loved to spend time together.

Asherix being targeted by Macavity first, never suspecting and never seeing the betrayal coming.

Ceszarina standing over Asherix’s body beating off an endless swarm of rats and listening to him breathe his last breath, wanting nothing more then to hold him but being unable to.

Umbermalt and Mercury fighting back to back to the end.

Pollok, saving Munkustrap from the attack, his clever mind unable to find a solution to save himself.

Munkustrap standing in that ashes after their deaths and still just a child himself, deciding to step up as the Tribe’s Protector and devote his life to trying to repair everything Macavity broke.

Jellylorum, with no guarantee of his brother’s rebirth and missing the parts of herself nobody else had ever been able to bring to the surface, holding to the standards of discipline Mercury had taught her. Realizing, the dawn after the ball where Grizabella was chosen, she is now older then her brother ever got to be.

Rn when I think about Bluebelle the most is when I’m trying to think of ways to introduce her to the rest of the jellicles or to keep her on the brinks. I’ll probably never actually write anything, but I like to have the story my head concretely.

I’ll prolly do more art of her or Bluebeard in the future but whether or not I’ll post it is anyone’s guess. Bluebeard is a character that I basically stole from 17th-18th century storytellers but I still adore his design so fucking much. Sorry guys I cat-ified your fairy tale villain.

I guess I’ve sort of slid to the funny side of oc headcanons lately because in my head I keep referring to Bluebelle Vicci and Plato as Bluebelle, her girlfriend, and her girlfriend’s boyfriend.

I just kind of thought it was funny i have no idea what im doing 😭😭

I’ve had a couple of funny little comic ideas that I’ve been scribbling out in the past couple of days but they’re giving me so much grief that I honestly don’t know what to do lol. Favorite platonic headcanon?

Jellylorum, Jennyanydots, and Grizabella were THE trio when they were younger. They were best friends, and absolutely inseparable before Grizabella left

Plato and Victoria are Tugger's best friends in the entire world (Misto doesn't count lmao). They've been glued at the hip since they met, and the three of them + Tugger are the most codependent inseparable gorup of cats in the entire junkyard. Plato is basically Tugger's brother, and Victoria is Tugger's little sister

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are very close with Demeter and Bombalurina, mainly due to them having shared experiences with Macavity

Amunet and Skimbleshanks are best friends

Favorite makeup design?

1998 Amunet's makeup design is one of my FAVORITES, i love how it just makes her look so gorgeous and elegant, and is so simple yet impactful

I love the idea of Victoria and Misto being little ballet besties. Him watching her solo from the pipe always reminds me of my own time in ballet watching my friends from the wings <3

14. Surprising unpopular opinion of yours?

IDK how unpopular this is, but I'm not a huge fan of lovey-dovey Tuggoffelees dynamics where they're constantly fawning over each other. In my world, the perfect dynamic for them is not only a bickering married couple, but that one post where people talk about things they do to piss off their SOs on purpose.

17. Have you made any OCs? (More facts!)

The humans at Algernonny's university library have named him Scallywag because of his missing foot and dark eye patch. If you spot him in the library or he sleeps in your favorite chair, it's considered good luck!

Olivetti is not Italian, as his name might suggest, but Dutch. His owner moved them from the Netherlands to England for his work as a newspaper reporter. Despite this, Olivetti has no trouble conversing with the Jellicles, and his accent is nearly imperceptible.

Despite her enthusiasm for dancing, Connie could best be described as having two left feet, something she bonded over with Jellylorum. She and Jelly were also part of the original Gumbie trio alongside Griz.

Headcanon Masterpost

Alright, so this is mostly for myself but I figured I'd post it. I think I made a post somewhat similar to this before, but my headcanons have changed dramatically since I joined the fandom. Here are (most) of my headcanons for Cats the Musical, including age headcanons and relationship headcanons. I don't really do AUs, so everything here is how I view the world of Cats.

Note: I tried to focus on canon characters only here, but some OCs are pretty vital to my headcanons and will be mentioned if they are connected to canon cats. But just know that if I included my OCs, this would be twice as long.

I headcanon almost every canon character as bi with a few being aroace, and everyone in the Jellicle tribe is poly.

Design Headcanons:

I'm boring, and therefore I use London designs for my headcanons. I have several Broadway designs as separate characters. My Alonzo is B&W Alonzo, while Broadway Golden Lonz is an OC named Lorenzo. Plato is London Admetus, while Admetus is Broadway Plato. Jemima, Sillabub and Sylvani are all separate characters as well. Pounce is London Carbucketty, and Carbucketty is based off Broadway Pounce/Swing cat. (Blame 1998 for the naming choice of the characters okay)

Age Headcanons

Ages I divide into 4 groups. In my world, Jellicle have to be the human age equivalent of 17/18 to attend the Ball. Any Jellicles under that age usually stay with trusted cats close to the Junkyard for the night.

Oldies: The oldest members of the tribe. The Jellicle Choice is almost always picked from this group. Cats in this age group are Old Deuteronomy, Gus, Grizabella, Bustopher Jones, Asparagus, Jellylorum, Skimbleshanks & Jennyanydots.

Adults: The cats in this group are usually the ones tasked with protecting the tribe from potential threats, planning the Jellicle Balls themselves, and generally are seen as the ones in charge. Cats in this age group are: Macavity, Munkustrap, Coricopat, Tantomile, Demeter, Alonzo, Bombalurina, Tugger, Cassandra, Mistoffelees, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer.

Young Adults: A separate group for only three cats really. This group usually does the pas de deux every year with a few exceptions. Cats in this group are: Plato, Admetus, and Victoria.

Kitten: The youngest group, but are still hold enough to attend the Ball for the first time. Cats in this group are: Tumble, Pounce, Carbucketty, Jemima, Sillabub, Sylvani, Electra, Etcetera and George.

Relationship Headcanons

Familial:

Old Deuteronomy is the father of Macavity, Munkustrap, Tugger and George. Munkustrap's mother is Grizabella, but she left the tribe when he was very young. Tugger's mother is a Queen named Tali. However, Tali was very sick after Tugger was born and had to leave the tribe for a bit, so Tugger was also raised by Jenny and Jelly.

Gus is the father of Jellylorum and Asparagus.

Skimbleshanks is the father of Rumpleteazer.

Jemima and Sillabub are the biological daughters of Demeter and Macavity, but are raised by Demeter, Alonzo and Munkustrap.

Bombalurina was orphaned at the Junkyard as a kitten and was raised by Grizabella before she left. Sylvani is the biological daughter of Bombalurina and Macavity.

Coricopat and Tantomile are twins, and just like Old Deut have lived many past lives.

Misto and Victoria are half-siblings. Bustopher Jones is Misto's uncle.

Romantic

Jenny, Jelly, Skimble and Bustopher Jones are in a polycule together.

Old Deut was former mates with Grizabella, and current mates with Tali.

Macavity was former mates with Demeter and Bombalurina.

Tugger, Bombalurina and Misto are in a polycule. Tugger is also mates with Rumpleteazer and Artemis.

Munkustrap, Demeter and Alonzo are in a polycule.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are mates. Rumpleteazer is also mates with Tugger and Victoria.

Plato and Victoria are mates. Victoria is also mates with Rumpleteazer.

Admetus and Sylvani are mates.

Etectera and George are mates.

Sillabub and Carbucketty are mates.

Other Headcanons:

Macavity was ousted from the tribe years before the show's Ball. Demeter left the Junkyard with Macavity, but left to protect the kittens she had with Macavity. Alonzo is a former Macavity hench cat who also left Macavity with Demeter. Macavity took many of the tribe's toms with him when he left, all who became hench cats. The only cat who left and returned back is Lorenzo.

Bombalurina left the tribe shortly after Demeter returns after being deceived and seduced by Macavity.

I interpret the "Jellicle Cats meet once a year" line to simply include those cats who don't live in the Junkyard year round, but most of the Jellicles do live in the Junkyard full time. This includes the cats wearing collars and are mentioned to have owners. I just prefer to consume Cats with all the tribe living together all year round outside of the Jellicle Ball.

Old Deut, Macavity, Tanto, Cori, Misto and Jemima all have magic powers of some sort. Old Deut, Cori, Tanto and Jemima's magic is more inwards and intuitive, while Macaivty and Misto's magic is more physical and showy.

Several of the cats are Protectors, and these cats go on daily patrols to ensure the tribe is safe from any outside threats. Munkustrap is the leader, with Alonzo and Bombalurina being second and third in charge respectfully.

Jenny and Jelly are both trained in medicine and assist any cats who are injured, as well as helping cats who are expecting kittens.

Lexi ! (my Jellicle OC) It's even her specialty, and has magic powers attached to her singing ! One of my favorite voice headcanon for her would be this song from Carole and Tuesday🎵 (please watch this anime. Like, really.)

Also Siv ! (Original rp OC) She likes to sing with friends (who are both excellent at this) at the pub where she lives, the kind of shanties and songs you'd hear in a traditionnal irish pub. I imagine she'd have a very high, clear voice like this🎵

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

Honestly lots of them xD But one that come to mind is my maormer character Vendaris (ESO). When I decided I wanted an OC from this race I first pictured a swashbuckling badass lady ship captain or something like that, with opal scales and long white dreads and... ...and I ended with a hobo drunk mage.

Gus's family tree! this is based on my Headcanoned's.

Gus's Mate was a queen named Lily(oc). They had two kids Jellylorum and Asparagus Jr . Jellylorum and Jennyanydots had Tumblbrutus and Etcetera. In the future Etcetera and Electra will have two kittens Marybeth(oc) and Lightning Electra. Marybeth is based on Jo Bingham cover of Victoria in Cats 1998. Jennyanydots' parents are Ginger (oc)and Satgeti(oc). Asparagus' mate is Aumnet(she's the tabby suit Exotica) her mother is a jellicle name Cheryl(oc). Asparagus and Aumnet had four kids Cheryl, George, Socrates and Plato. Lily's sister ,Silkesben(oc) had Griddlebone with Augustus(oc). She had Patches and Olivia with Growltiger. She later had Noilly Prat with Bustopher Jones but left him to join Macavity.

Of course!

-Tiresias has never actually attended an entire Ball in the entire time he's lived around the area - not through any lack of desire on his own part (though he isn't the biggest fan of crowds), but because if the temperature should drop overnight, he's basically rendered incapacitated (maybe that's a little dramatic, but he gets *cold* and he refuses to sacrifice his dignity and bring one of those silly little knits with him. The cats already think he's weird enough). So usually he'll duck out a good while before the Jellicle Choice is made (though he does have an acquaintance in one of the neighbouring cats who makes a point of telling him who it was the next morning across the fire escape).

-He has very little in terms of where he came from or who his family was (or even his mother's name), since he was taken from her quite small to be sold off, and then moved along with his pet when he changed jobs. But while he doesn't quite ever feel any deep connection to where he is, where they are now is about the closest thing he would consider as being home (though he has memories of where he and Nicholas lived before*). He divides his time about 60/40 between the Junkyard and his pet's flat.

-He's largely on the ace spectrum, but he is very much a romantic, and has had a few secret crushes here and there, but they've never gone anywhere. In spite of his general flippancy and put upon confidence, he does have some unresolved and buried issues with his self-esteem. Anytime he thinks of things going any further emotionally, he gets spooked and manages to talk himself out of it.

-He's very fond of birds - for watching, not for eating, believe it or not. He'll give a few of them a warning lunge now and again, but he's far more interested in identifying what kind of bird they are and adding them to his ornithology journal (he's got a bingo going - though he'd really like to see some *really* big birds...or a flamingo, that'd be great). There were a few times another cat had presented him with a bird (kitten and grown alike), and he examined it closely and declared what it is and its worth to him (whether he'd seen one or not), maybe even praise their contribution to scientific curiosity, but never ate one of them. He's not a vegetarian or quite on the level of preservation that Jenny is, but something about eating birds makes him queasy.

-He has a lot of little scarves that he ties around his ears for "decoration" (See: As he puts it, "To put an end to an endless forehead"), but the blue one is his favourite - it's made out of one of Nicholas' old shirts.

-His music taste is incredibly eclectic - if you were to ask what genre he likes, he would likely say "Yes" and not much else. He doesn't listen exclusively to any one thing, or dabble too long in any genre - if he likes how it sounds, he likes it.

*Since the first hairless Sphynx cats as a breed officially draw back to Toronto/Minnesota in the 60s/70s, that's where he comes from. We can either fudge the timeline of canon and real life events slightly, or just say he was a rather interesting mutation and not bred with the purpose of being a hairless cat.

Bustopher jones adopted his sisters children (Alonzo Victoria and Mistoffelees) when the twins were 3-4 month old, after an accident that left themselves orphaned.

When they were nearing 6 months (Alonzo nearing a 14 months at this point) Mistoffelees gets taken by Macavity, so to protect the other two he sends them to the junkyard for protection.

While taken by mac this is were misto meets Demeter, Bomba and Mungojerrie and the 4 get really close while misto is forced to learn about his magic the hard way. ALSO Grizabella is there which causes alot of tension but she does try her hardest to make life there comfortable for them since she knows she already failed the tribe.

They are rescued/ escape 3 months later along with baby Jemima!

There are tearful reunions at the junkyard (other small hc but dem and bomba are mungo and teazers older sisters and they are all Jenny and Skimbles kids!) (Also plato is Macavitys son but his mother left him to the jellicles after he was born so mac couldnt be involved)

They have the first Jellicle ball after they're back around 10 months later (the shows ball with Macavity stealing old doot)

Now a few ocs!

Bellona Jones and Merlinite are the monochromatic siblings parents!! Bellona is Bustophers late sister and was once a jellicle protector, and like her brother she is not the most skilled dancer. She is also a tuxedo cat!

Merlinite is a smaller than average pure white cat. He is a magical cat and an excellent dancer (he was thrilled when he was first able to teach Alonzo (and then the twins) to dance when they were kittens!!) Although he was not born as a jellicle, he was adopted in by old deuteronomy and Grizabella partly in hope he could teach their eldest son how to control the more volatile parts of his magic, when it didnt work he and his mate Bellona chose to live away from the junkyard as a means to protect there soon to be born kitten!

Last oc for now bc this is getting really long sorry T^T is Hiraeth!! Hiraeth is the first kitten of Victoria and Platos, hes a mix of white and gray, and a result of their mating dance at the last jellicle ball!! Just like his uncle Tugger he is a flirt and a singer, while also having his uncles Alonzo and Mistos sass!! He is also blind but that does not stop him from trying to take over from Tuggers place in the junkyard as being the one for the ladies lol

I love this, the way Misto meets Demeter,Bomba and Jerrie is such an interesting idea!

And jdjsks Plato being Mac's son is a headcanon I also share and hold dear to my heart.

As for Hiraeth, I believe should take over as a treat. 🤌 Lonzo and Misto's sass and being flirty like Tugger make him sound like such a fun character

I am 100% certain that El's favorite cat is Jemima. Think about it, Macavity is so similar to Brenner, then Demeter would absolutely remind El of her own mother, and then there's little Jemima, with powers she doesn't understand???? but if El was to make a Jellicle OC at some point (and listen i am NOT trying to continually project onto them BUT) she absolutely would make an OC similar to Hestia because it just fits.

continuing off of that, Will and El probably do a Coricopat and Tantomile cosplay at some point, and Will absolutely made their costumes.

probably after the 1998 movie came out, Steve, Eddie, and Robin dressed up as Mistoffelees, Tugger, and Bombalurina one Halloween, and Corroded Coffin absolutely has done a metal cover of Tugger and Misto's songs at some point.

Max being a StEx fan!!!! is so important!!

and okay i fully did not realize this yesterday, but Starlight Express premiered on Broadway almost an exact year after the events of season four, so going along with the "we survived the apocalypse!!!!!" party, Steve absolutely heard about a musical with people skating, and he and Max went to see it together, and she absolutely adored it.

Her favorite character is Dinah, and Steve's is Rusty and Electra, and during one Halloween, the two of them dress up as Rusty and Dinah, and it's the most fun night.

Lucas loves it just as much as Max does, and Robin probably falls in love with Electra's design. Eddie sees Greaseball and immediately stares at Steve like "babe... it's you... as a train..." and Steve whacks him on the arm.

2. Favorite song cat?

I have to go with Mistoffelees! His song is so catchy, his dance is even better, and his outfit is amazing. I love him all around. Runner up would definitely be Rumpleteazer, though.

7. Favorite sibling headcanon?

Honestly my headcanons are incredibly flexible, so it really depends on what I’m consuming, but I like the deut bros (with or without macavity), mungoteazer siblings and mistoria siblings!

8. Favorite makeup design?

I would have to say Mexico’s Bomba, Jenny (at least I’m pretty sure that’s Jenny), and Griddlebone! Something about the super thick eyeliner is satisfying to me.

I also really like Zurich and both modern and traditional broadway designs.

17. Have you made any OC’s?

I’ve definitely thought about it, but I’m not the most creative and I have so much fun with the already existing characters + countless swing cats, so I’ve never officially made one.

20. Have you seen Cats live? Where?

Unfortunately, I got into cats just a little too late to make it to any productions in my area. But if they tour again and perform near me, I definitely plan to go!
