The Trust has really shot themselves in the foot by removing both their charismatic figures who literally represented the Trust in the public eye, who jointly served as the only emotional connection the average person had to the Trust beyond any personal belief they might have in the system, and replacing them with a man so disturbing, off-putting, and un-charismatic that the fucking board of directors who promoted him recoils in fear and disgust when they see him. Like maybe if Spahr and Pom had been there supporting this change over, or at least Pom, things could’ve been smoothed over a bit better. Keep a little familiarity. But now your company has lost its handsome trustworthy (ha) charismatic face, it’s familiar charming charismatic voice, and replaced it with an unfamiliar tri-dictator of nightmares while saying “don’t worry he’s chill :) trust us bro 👍” while in the middle of a spiraling financial crisis. Ok. Good luck with that buddy.

In light of the knowledge that Jonas Spahr does apparently have an incredibly compartmentalized, probably still nebulous and lonely personal life, I think we should all pitch the most unhinged ways that could possibly shake out.
My pitch is that he's quietly but amicably divorced from Jedidiah Pom.
#midst spoilers#jonas spahr#jedidiah pom#midst messages#in case anyone is filtering for that#inb4 I do not take criticism I only take 'yes and'#or alternative suggestions I do genuinely think we should come up with unhinged options for this#before you ask jonas established a baseline very early on that this could not be a media topic under any circumstances#and this has maintained into the divorce because this is a 'only didn't work out cuz we were too married to work'#coramar-seelie type situation. they still give a fuck about the other person's well-being even if they're divorced

Thinking about how truly insane Jonas Spahr's work schedule as Prime Consector must have been, given all the stuff we know he did as a part of his job. His average work day must have looked something like:
8am: Debriefing at home, assigning Company members their duties for the day 8:30am: Morning meetings 9am: Facilitate an arraignment hearing 11am: Mid-morning meetings 12:30pm: Lunch????? 1pm: Ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Milton Fleit Botanical Gardens 3pm: Afternoon meetings 4pm: SevUnTeen photoshoot 6pm: Evening meetings 7pm: Dinner 7:30pm: Paperwork
It's really no wonder that Jedidiah Pom apparently worked with a dozen Consectors before Spahr, the turnover rate due to burnout ALONE must be intense

Phineas Headcanons
College has not been kind to me, so I've decided to post some of my spare Phineas Thatch headcanons! Writing about the precious Trust boi always makes me feel better. Enjoy!
-Phineas has a nervous tic where he clutches his abacus whenever he's upset or worried, kind of like how rosary beads are used in the Catholic faith. As he got older, he had to mask the trait, as that could be seen as "weakness". He still does it in private, though.
-He keeps a few posters up in his apartment, one being a promotional art of Jonas Spahr on the company-ship zipline, giving a thumb's up to the viewer. In big letters, the poster reads, "Hang in there!" He also keeps a handheld teletheric next to the window, never missing a single broadcast from Jedidiah Pom on the latest Consector Adventure.
-Phineas was totally the kid who carried six chairs at once when his teacher needed help putting things away. Instead of joining the rest of the young Trustees in recess, he would stay after class to help the teacher with their work. After being told one day that he was spending too much time alone, he signed up for every after-school sports club the Unlift program could possibly offer.
-Growing up, Phineas read the sevunteen magazine religiously... and secretly still does.
-The first fold of his arrival on Midst, Phineas brought a compact fold-safe lantern into the Company barracks. He still has nightmares about his time in the Delta, so he cuddles up with the lantern like a night light under the covers.
-He was too young to remember it, but he did see Ginsberg once on the estate grounds talking to the Senior Notary about Ginsberg's employment. After the hostage situation, Phineas would try to follow-up on Ginsberg's family in an attempt to help them make up the debt.

Okay, but what are Jedidiah Pom and Backpack doing for all of season two? They were on Midst, and Jedidiah caused that whole mess with his commentating. What have they been up to back in the Light?
Like, I don't necessarily know they're doing anything plot relevant, but I wanna know what the media is doing right now. It's been mentioned several times that the media is pointedly saying little about Midst and what little is said is minimizing of the situation. I wanna know what's keeping them busy while everyone else is having the weirdest day ever. Is Jedidiah like, look, I'm super talented and amazing and great, but there's only so many ways I can spin a Valor freeze for dozens of days? Who is Backpack collecting statements from lately?
And, frankly, who DID tell Backpack that Phineas was breaking even way back in season one? Who sent her to get that statement? Is there a reason Pom made a point to introduce Phineas to Meshkala? DID Pom end up publishing the argument between Jonas and Phineas in the tabloids?
Also, ngl, ever since the Hieronymous reveal, I'm squinting at every single character moving around the edge of this narrative whose motivations and goals we don't have a clear picture of.
Also, I just miss them.

Hi op, your lists were super articulate and after reading them I can definitely see how Kozma being in charge of the breach makes a lot of sense! However, i’ve still been wondering if she was in charge of the moonfall or if someone else has been responsible the whole time.
This got me reflecting on Imelda and what we know about her so far…
I have a crazy theory (more like the miasma of a theory) about Imelda’s potential involvement in the moonfall. I don’t really know how much this actually makes sense but, Imelda may have been in on the moonfall plan the whole time.
What we know about Imelda:
- She is a zealot who deeply believes in trust ideology.
- She recognizes that the valour system allows people to do good deeds solely to accrue valour as opposed to doing the right thing. She sees this as a problem and wishes it were not the case (2.13).
- She is down to inflict harm if she believes it will lead to a beneficial outcome in the long term (e.g., torturing weepe).
- She is a very very calculating individual ( eg., “I budgeted for this” / the narrators often mentions that there is a complex calculator behind her eyes).
Given all these points, I think that Imelda might be willing to risk the immediate problem of the economic crisis (via the distruction of Midst) in order to facilitate a new era of trust policy and governance that she perceives to be more aligned with the ‘doing good for the sake of good’ purist ideology in the longer run.
So the goal would be to reform Trust governance/policy to be more aligned with purist trust ideology.
The original governance structure of the Trust (3 heads of state + upper trust) might make it hard to rapidly introduce policy change because decision making power is scattered across several individuals. Now, this could be avoided if decision making power were to be consolidated… if the government structure were to be changed to something that looks more like… I don’t know… a dictatorship. Although I’m not sure whether weepe was intended to be the dictator all along or not.
Normally, if the trust pulled this dictator move, the public would probably loose their shit. Unless, of course, the trust was facing a lot of uncertainty and this dictator move was marketed as the cure to said uncertainty. This is pretty much what happens in 3.03 with the bonus that the emotional fallout from this move is quickly and cunningly smoothed over with Jedidiah Pom’s retirement announcement.
That being said I don’t think Imelda was the architect of this plan. The architect, I suspect, is senior Milton Fleit. I am assuming that he shares the same purist perspectives as Imelda. He outranks Imelda and would probably have been the one to assign her to midst.
I know this theory is pretty out there and probably has holes, but I feel like there might be something there.
Truly cannot decide if Kozma is bluffing and if she's bluffing if she's doing so on both elements (Breach AND blowing up the moon), or just one.
(as always do not say anything about episodes not yet publicly released, not even a "oh you're in for a TIME" or whatever)

she’s a fashion killer.
nic’s muses and their style.
jedidiah : his style says i rolled out of bed thirty minutes late, fuck. like it’s really just so much of him throwing things on. so he doesn’t really have a closet full of clothes, and the clothes he does have are from the thrift store. so he likes simple graphic tees and jeans. but he can definitely wear a button down and some slacks nicely ( wrinkled or otherwise ). he does have a preference for hoodies though, it’s something he actually cares about. like boys usually have a show obsession, but he’s like ‘i need one in every color’ hoodie guy. down time, he’s in some sweats or gym shorts. this goes for around the full moon too because clothes don’t get saved.
mahu : if she could walk around naked she would have all the time. but since she can’t, she does the next best thing, she does the flowing low cut dresses, the spaghetti straps, sandals ad open toed as much as possible. for her it’s either enough for it to basically fall off her shoulders to the floor, or it’s skin tight to the point you have to assume it’s definitely painted on. if it’s the later, it’s most likely work out clothes, legging, yoga pants, sports bras. she isn’t one for being constricted by clothes, she answers her door in her underwear for crying out loud. but she does have a lot of clothes to the point where she has to knock down a wall to make more room. but her prized possessions are her sunglasses and her lingerie.
bailey : her style is ‘you’re so cute!’ in a nut shell. no one has ever seen bailey wear pants, and she never will. shorts are the closest thing to them and she’s still on the fence about them. her style doesn’t match her lifestyle, she can not afford the way she wants to dress, so she is constantly breaking the bank trying to reach her true aesthetic. it’s tennis skirts and crop tops, it’s short floral dresses, it’s bralettes with cute designs. and if someone taught her to shop better, she can definitely do these sort of things. she has a love for pastels and anything pink. she owns a sailor moon backpack, and sometimes her socks have pom poms one them. it’s just who she is.
will owens : he dresses pretty sharp for someone who forgets to sleep sometimes. like it’s slacks, belt, button down, bow tie. shoes and hat are optional. and he clothes are all tailored to him because will owens, the man who lives in the forest, actually has a tailor. his mother always told him that it was important to be presentable to people, to show them you care about yourself and he holds that to the highest degree. on certain days, usually in the spring, he’ll notice that some of his shorts are too small or his shoes don’t fit quite right, but he knows it’s just the forest growing and him adjusting to it.
adam : so he wears pants, but he doesn’t wear underwear. there is no reason except for he doesn’t. all his pants are sort of a cotton, linen material, because jeans aggravate him a lot. but other than that, that’s all adam wears mostly. other than maybe a white t shirt, but that’s if someone comes around. he doesn’t really have a style and his clothes are something he made. like, he has a sort of shame to nakedness, but still inwardly enjoys the feeling of being naked.
amber : i call her style classic. it’s wedges and stripes.it’s long skirts and pants. she loves her a really cute turtle neck. basically, she likes to cover up a lot. and it’s such a contrast to her being naked when she’s in the water. she hates bathing suits and will not wear one. but when she’s out and about, she keeps herself covered to her own discretion. she likes colors like orange, yellow, and cream. they’re all vibrant but still soft in their own way.

I don't watch midst, but consider: the song popular from wicked the musical, but instead of popular it's bocular. Is this anything
this is ABSOLUTELY something. I fully believe this would be a jingle in a commercial that every kid in the highest light loves and every parent fucking hates
#jedidiah pom cannot convince marketing to cut it because it really does so well as an earworm and it has run for YEARS#jonas spahr has barely restrained himself from flipping his lid at someone while this is stuck in his head on multiple occasions#midst podcast#BOCS!

For Midst, lmao:
💙: Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think?
💜: Which character is way hotter than everyone else seems to think?
💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?
💙: Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think?
There is literally one answer here and it's Weepe. I don't even think this is an unpopular opinion but I literally cannot think of anybody else. Like, Phineas is also not hot because he's just so purely wet cat, he is a baby, he might as well be 12 to me, but I don't really get the sense that anyone is thirsting over Phineas Thatch. He's got the wet eyes and attachment issues of a greyhound and it does feel like everyone seems to agree on that.
: Which character is way hotter than everyone else seems to think?
Gretel was already hot but knowing she's part of the Breach? SKYROCKETED her hotness. I fully believe that in universe she suffers for so often standing next to the Sexiest Man of the Year five years running, but also, no one knows about the sedition, and that is so sexy of her.
💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?
I don't know where Ellie and Ettie's mother is, but I think one of them should bring Emmet home to her. Since his parental situation is a little, uh, off at the moment.
Okay but in all seriousness, this is my formal announcement that I WILL be writing a secret-celebrity-romance-to-whirlwind-marriage-to-rapid-genial-divorce fic for Jonas Spahr and Jedidiah Pom after this show wraps and no one can stop me. Because it would be messy as fuck. It would be so fun. Is anyone listening to me. Do you see my vision.
#by god this man WILL be divorced even if I have to do it myself#love that we both make these jokes but in entirely different directions lmao#midst podcast#unpopular opinion meme#okay I'm going back to my editing doc but I'll be back to answer more later
