I was and remain blissfully unaware of whatever discourse is 'destroying' the camp here and there community.

I have seen quite a number of posts regarding folks unhappiness with hate being thrown around but I haven't seen any real hate.

I hope I don't.

But, I feel like something is being missed.

I love camp here and there. It is so cryptid and erratic, but more than that, it is tragic. Everyone is in their own agony. And I love that. How dysfunctional sydedudiah is. How insane and fervorous Elijah is. Rowan and the sky. Jeddie and his mom. The flashbacks. They are so torn apart. They have no idea what they are doing. Just like me. And you.

I love this tragedy, but camp here and there is not an endorsement of these things. Nor do I love these aspects in reality.

No matter how alive they feel (the mark of an incredible author, good job Blue), they are not real. Imperfections, flaws, pain and tragedy are important and create incredible stories, but the people here who say they love these things, mean they love them in stories. Not in reality.

I am obsessed with Jeddidiah. But I recognize that in real life he wouldn't be my favorite guy. He's so very flawed.

We can celebrate these aspects without endorsing them.

That is humanity. That is storytelling.

But there is a degree of seaperation.

I mean, we're talking about a resurrected dude in a sentient forest ruled by penguin overlords in apocalyptic Ohio.

Chill.
