please help my fucking country. the leading party is called "Law and Justice" which is a fucking joke considering what they are doing. two women already died because the doctors were waiting for the fetus to die despite the fact that continuing the pregnancy was directly threatening their life. trans people have to sue their parents to get their information changed in the documents. the head of the constitutional tribunal has the equivalent to a bachelors degree despite there being hundreds of more competent people who could be in her position, but she was chosen because she is a pawn. that is one of the highest positions in the country, responsible for upholding the FUCKING CONSTITUTION. the entire govt is corrupt, kissing ass of Polish bishops and laundering money into their own pockets.

Warsaw yesterday, 30th Ocober 2020

About 100 thousand protesters gathered on the streets of Warsaw. What on earth possesed them to do this in the middle of the second wave of covid, you may ask. 

Well, Poland is in great turmoil.

Ever since October the 22nd, when Poland’s constitutional tribunal declared that abortions in instances where a foetus is diagnosed with a serious and irreversible birth defect were unconstitutional, protests have been held every day. Poland already has one of the strictest abortion laws in Europe, and the cruel declaration rules out more than 95% percent of all the legal abortions in Poland. It sparked the fury of Polish women, which quickly turned into most Poles’ anger with the ruling party and their incredibly poor management of the country. Tens, on some days even hundreds, of thousands of Poles take to the streets every day and shout at the top of thier lungs, “jebać PiS!”, (”Fuck PiS”, PiS is the ruling “Law and Justice” party), as well as, “wypierdalać!” (”get the fuck out” but the word is very vulgar), and many other slogans. The anger of the nation is immense but PiS refuses to give in. 

“Jebać PiS” is something of a hit, actually. Protesters even turned it into a song. “Jebać PiS”, jokingly censored into 8 asterisks,”***** ***”, has become a whole movement in the Polish society, named “The Movement of 8 Asterisks”. (I love it, the 8 asterisks are my fb profile picute, together with a red bolt of lightning, which is the symbol of Polish Women’s Strike).

I’m a young Polish woman who’s been protesting as well, and I’ve never felt so angry, helpless and uncertain about my future all at once. This is my home, all my loved ones live here, yet, seeing what PiS has done to this country, I’m more and more decided to emigrate. It hurts.
