We are attuned: to the planet, to the cosmos,  to the things that whisper within. So I knew your name on the wind before I could imagine your eyes. And you - a strange breath, a shuddering fall into my arms. You say it is a blessing, I hear my heart beat in your chest. We have lost everything but our voices some long summer months where night would not come and there could be no rest, we have lost each other. I was bodiless, and heard your voice on the wind guiding me  to the home we’d lost.

We make arrangements,  and allowances. For the ones who come and go for family and friends and walls that are not ‘you’ and ‘I’ (us, that are not us shuddering across the endless toils of our burning lives, fingers entwined) who are no less precious  for being external, strange in the way that we, my soul’s mate, my heart, were never strange  to one another.

Us is a different rhythm than the crushing rise and fall of once-in-a-lifetime: us is eternal, always recoverable. You can stray and I can doubt and forget even our names and yet we will return. Like spring and the full moon’s face and bright after lightless. There is no trespass that destroys us: You hear your heart beat in my chest, the wind whispers of forgiveness. I think of you when dawn crests over the places we walked and lay together. Time cannot efface your presence, nor the Earth’s embrace mark your death, for two hearts beat within my chest. I shall keep it for you, safe and vital, until I, too, hear the call or you return once more to bring night’s gentleness to my door. You will not come unheralded. I shall hear your rising on the wind.

im having mushy gay poly thoughts centering around overhaul jean/ororo

they’ve been dating for...a little bit (i still need to work out this chronology so bear with me, but it’s been at least a year) when ororo goes to visit japan. probably with logan but again, these years are still a little fuzzy for me

while in japan (you already know where this is going) ororo meets this woman and kind of falls head-over-heels

and she’s not entirely opposed to the idea of having a relationship with yukio while also dating jean but it’s still a little weird and she just kind of avoids the issue until one night yukio tries to kiss her and ororo’s like “um”

she calls jean to hash it out and they talk about it for hours - ororo’s feelings, what they change or don’t change, jean’s feelings, potential consequences. and eventually they reach a point where they’re both comfortable with the idea, and at that point there’s no reason for ororo not to go kiss yukio

and the next time ororo and yukio meet up they talk about it and they do kiss and it’s a beautiful fairytale on the rooftops of tokyo except ororo is going back to the US soon and yukio is staying in japan

(spoilers: they totally visit each other in the future)

things don’t change too much for jean and ororo after that; after a little awkward period they probably actually get more comfortable talking to each other about other crushes they have, and there might be some kissing/sex with other people that goes on but nothing super serious

and when wanda maximoff comes into their lives a year or so later and they realize that they both really like her and that she might like them back it feels so right

So I’m (re)reading Uncanny X-Men 147. 

Ororo has lost control; she’s being consumed by her power after it built to a fever pitch while she was turned into organic chrome, utterly paralysed. (Claustrophobic, remember?) 

What brings her back is Colossus talking about Jean.

And then - 

I just.

I’ll be over there.
