Chicago—as a Tourist A couple of shots of the Chicago River, the first showing the Wells Street Bridge, the Merchandise Mart (left), the Reid Murdoch Building (with clock), along with one of the two towers of Marina City and the St. Regis Chicago (by Jeanne Gang) in the distance. I'm mystified by all the L trains, and I believe the one pictured could be any one of several that make a trip around the loop—which is to the right in this image.

The second image has much the same but with the addition of the Linnea (architectural tours), and the La Salle Street Bridge.

The third image shows us the John Hancock Building, now known as 875 North Michigan Avenue (sure, whatever you say): a 100-story building finished in 1968. I was standing at the lake front at about Walton Place for that view.

Had some spring sunshine this afternoon and half an hour before class, so, fortified by a sandwich and a Dr. Pepper that I had picked up at the nearby Amazon Go (@amazon ) store, I decided to take a seat on a bench outside the Gleacher Center and draw up as much of the Vista Tower (@vistatowerchicago ) as I could, in the time I had. /// I’ve enjoyed watching this building going up, and I look forward to seeing it completed in 2020. /// From Wikipedia: “Construction started in August 2016 with expected completion in 2020. Upon completion, it will become the city's third-tallest building at 1,198 feet (365 meters). Designed by a team led by architect Jeanne Gang, Vista will supplant the nearby Aqua skyscraper (also designed by a team led by Jeanne Gang) as the tallest structure in the world designed by a woman. This will make Chicago home to the two tallest structures designed by a woman. Vista Tower is a joint project of Magellan Development Group and Wanda Group.
