A/N: This one was so much fun to write. I wanted to make it more from Jean's perspective so I hope I did his character justice. Thank you for the request!

Jean always swore he was only looking out for himself. Declared loudly to anyone that would listen that he didn't need anyone else, that they'd only slow him down.

Jean knew now why they called it Falling. The sensation having the world around him suddenly jerked away from him, his being displaced by a greater force beyond even his preternatural comprehension very much so like the comedic human past-time prank of pulling the chair out from under someone about to sit. It was like he'd been punched in the gut, head jerked forward and legs swiped away. But...rather then just tripping, there was no...no stop. Nothing to catch him, even painfully - he had..nothing. There was nothing. Jen supposes, even now, that he was thankful they had the good graces to allow his mind to keep it's Other senses - else wise the trip through the nothing would have surely turned him mad. Marco too. Oh God, Marco...was the angel alright? Jean didn't know - couldn't think beyond the all-oppressing weight of non-existence. It was said that at times, the Fallen didn't even make it through the barriers between Earth and Other. Jean could feel it, even now, slipping away, demon body, demon mind, thoughts and feelings and perceptions no other being possessed to travel between the planes as he and his ilk did. Stripped bare as a child. Falling. As though surfacing from the blackest lake, Jean starts to...feel again. Reality seeping in like veins of ivy and growing in spots of color and noise. Jean thinks, for a moment - or a lifetime, with this non-place is hard to tell how time is passing, if it's passing, if it exists yet at all - he might be alright. It's confusing, like his head is being turned inside out one molecule at a time, and he thinks there might be the first inklings of pain, searing at his nerves like an army of white-hot needles pulling at it all and making him again... Then he is shattered. If there was such a creature as the demon Jean, then there certainly is none now. If God made the world, left the land that was separated from the sea and given to the first Fallen to rule as the Barren Wastes, then he could unmake the world just as easily. This is God unmaking Jean Kirschtien. There is no proper way to describe it - pain without threshold, madness without clarity to combat it. When Jean becomes...well, Jean again, he will never be able to describe it to anyone. It cannot be comprehended with the mind he will posses, small, human, and unimaginable weak compared to what he was before. It...it doesn't last long, even in that immeasurable place. He is forever grateful to whatever forces on either side of the universe that grant him reprieve from it. He is aware of being...blanketed. Like Marco's wings caressing his skin, but without the harsh edge of burn the featherblades leave. It's soft...and warm, and all encompassing. Jean's never known this, and in his sudden recalling that he is indeed himself, is Jean, just is, he seeks it out, as much as he can. Away from that place. He is...aware of breath. Of hurt, deep in his chest as something pries it's way in, and then slithering out, but he feels fine - better then fine. He is aware of a steady beat, tapping against his ribs; Jean startles at the thought. A - a heartbeat, stuttering to life inside, small and checking itself each pulse, but soon as with the lungs, finding it's confidence. The dark blanket suddenly rushes forward and seals itself tight -tight- about him, holding, threading, binding. Jean shudders as he feels the last of the Other....gone. Whatever he was before will never be again, and before he is allowed to seep out of himself, whatever powers that be is enclosing him within something new. Well...not new. The darkness lightens, fades, colors like  water droplet on an artist's pallet introduced to pigment for the first time. It's almost too much to comprehend, even after all Jean has just withstood, but he - he takes a breath

...and opens his eyes. The clear evening sky shines too brilliantly down upon him, the edge of everything looking in on this tiny patch of earth where Jean lays bare and prostrate to it's eyes - and is nothing more then a simple, human sunset by the next skip of his simple, human heart.

levi keeps his eye on a blonde man with large glasses across the bar who is constantly looking at you. you’re busy talking with your friends, not noticing him. levi waits for the man to move closer to you before he abruptly leaves his table. before the stranger has a chance to approach you with a hand low on your waist, levi bends the blonde’s wrist behind his back at an awkward angle. the man groans and curses at levi, asking what his problem is. the commotion catches your attention. you see the hard glare in levi’s eyes and you immediately know the man must’ve been up to something.

“i suggest you don’t touch my woman before you lose an arm”, he threatens coldly. the man whimpers at the position he’s in, apologizing to levi. before security comes over levi lets go of his grip, reaching for you instead. 

“let’s go”, he calmly tells you. you lace your fingers with his and quickly leave the bar, not bothering to say goodnight to your friends. on the way the drive home you thank levi by giving him kisses anywhere you can reach. you’re a bit tipsy, which is making you more affectionate than usual, but levi allows it. he tells you to sit back in your seat and wait until you get home to love on him, but you ignore him, wanting him as soon as possible.

after a few minutes of begging for levi to pull over he finally does. you’re quick to show him how grateful you are to him.

“she’s not interested”, you hear. you sigh in relief as you hear jean’s voice fill your ears. 

“here you go, baby”, he says to you softly, kissing your cheek and handing you your drink. you take it and smile appreciatively at him. the boy that was failing to talk to you scoffs, asking jean who he thinks he is.
