I took 3 melatonin last night and fell asleep reading McDanno and watching Magic Mike XXL and so as I was falling o was thinking about a recent gay romcom…it’s either called Bros or Bromance I think????

But anyway, Danny befriends a young hot gay guy who looks like the poster child of what Abrocombi and finch(I was never thin enough or rich enough to shop there so idk how to spell it) would look like but he’s a total sweet heart! And his gaydar is very spot on! Plus after a single day he knows this is a friendship that’s worth it. He helps Danny return to being true to himself. He’s known he’s not straight for a long time but after he married Rachel a lot of the less understanding people in his life thought he “finally chose a side” or “god it out of his system” and that took a toll for the whole time he was married. Dating after that was hard bc the divorce left him angry and bitter and he wanted to focus on being the dad Grace deserved.

And also the man he wanted he wasn’t sure he could get. Steve was everything he could hope for but nothing ever happened…No matter how much he made it obvious. And any time he wanted to be bold himself something happened. And he wasn’t immune to being human and wanting to fix Grace’s family for her sake but that’s really why he even looked at Rachel that kind of way when her marriage to Stan seem to weaken…

It’s an accumulated to having to be content with the strong family he’s built on the island bc of Steve…that’d have to be good enough.

That’s the story he tells the group of hot young gay guys as he’s dragged out to a gay club on one of his free nights. He also protects the group from both a creeper in the club and a homophobe in the streets.

In thanks they buy him drinks and listen to him go on and on and on about Steve.

Of course they begin to plot. But after Danny’s tired they all go back to his place and they put in Top Gun and make points of how gay the navy is (I’ve yet to watch either top gun movie but I’ve been lead believe it is v gay)

But anyway, in romcom fashion (and I’m not one for romcoms…The situations to make it work carry a lot of embarrassment and it gives me second hand embarrassment and I just can’t, but fic is different) Steve arrives at Danny’s…unannounced, with a key, to find Danny sleeping nestled between a lot of hot, young, ripped guys who are in different states of dress and are all very comfortable.

That’s all I got for now. I’ve been chasing inspiration all month and it’s been trying…so I’m glad of any ideas.

don’t think I’ve mentioned anything about it before? But I’ve been watching hawaii five 0 at the most glacial pace ever - it’s been what? Two months? And I’m - okay i just checked. I’ve got a few minutes of episode 8 of season 1 to watch. That’s fucking ridiculous, I’m a binge watcher! But honestly i do not care one bit for the cop stuff (which is why it’s not going faster. I’ve even skipped scenes which i usually never do but i DO. NOT. CARE) But oh, mcdanno is really everything tumblr promises, even that soon, like if i didn’t know how it ends already (and a few other things) i would expect one of them (steve, definitely steve) to drop to one knee any time and the 9 subsequent seasons to be about (and only about) their married life because dammmmn they got it bad

So I was wondering if anyone has written a Mcdanno fanfic using this movie?

Imagine Jared Cole (from Into the Blue, played by the late Paul Walker) visits Danny (Bryce in the movie) and Steve may/may not get a little bit jealous from the way they're constantly on each others' personal space*, or the fact that Danny will jump into the water and swim with him with barely a word of protest**, or that Grace happily jumps into his arms screaming 'Uncle Jared!'. I just think it's be nice if Danny had another friend outside of work you know?

And if it gets Steve to make a move - if they're not in a relationship already - then much better 👀

*These are just 3 scenes, there's a lot more. I forgot to include the one where Jared gets Bryce away from a fight, Bryce tries to argue, immediately gives up and apologizes when he sees Jared angry with him, and they hug. It's cute! Also there were apparently more scenes with Paul and Scott in the water and according to an interview with Jessica Alba, but were cut:

"Scott and Paul rubbed more skin together than you and Paul did. Alba: I'm with you. There was actually this one sequence that got cut from the movie and I hope it makes it to the DVD. It was so homoerotic. Scott and Paul did this swim underwater on top of each other. There was this really pretty music so I had to tease them about that for a while."

**Maybe Jared is the one who makes Danny love water again after Billy? But he kinda tied it to Jared alone, so when he tells Steve that he knows how to swim but just for survival, it's just because he doesn't feel like digging up all of that for someone he just met.

But! If anyone knows a mcdanno fic like this, please let me know!!

To be honest, I don't recommend this movie for anything other than how all over each other Paul and Scott were; the treatment of the women was... 'meh' to put it nicely, very early 2000's, though they do redeem themselves with the damsel in distress saving herself at the end I guess.

I’m over here absolutely ecstatic about how well done this 3 part premiere is. The disaster, the heart, the humor it’s all there. It’s like a fresh start.

Thoughts have been percolating as I showered after the end of the episode because I don’t necessarily think Tommy is gonna be Buck’s next relationship. Hear me out.

First off, the look Buck and Tommy shared didn’t scream more than a thanks to me. At least on Buck’s end. Tommy did appear in the middle of them for a brief moment suggesting a possible foreshadowing moment.

However, Eddie heads off first. This signals to me that Eddie is much more ahead of Buck in terms of loving himself and living for himself. And calls back to Ryan’s interviews stating he’s happier and more free. And no I don’t think Marisol will tie into this at all.

Then we get the brief look of thanks and pat between Buck and Tommy. It’s brief and it’s signals that maybe Tommy is more into Buck.

Then Buck leaves and follows Eddie. Because ultimately that’s his future he’s striving for.

Tommy and Buck may have a minor flirtation. But not a relationship because Buck just got out of one. Buck is the one now that has to start living for himself and loving himself. Tommy can set that in motion.

I have no doubt that Tommy will set something in motion for Buddie. Either by flirting with Buck, making him flustered because he doesn’t know how to handle a man flirting with him that isn’t Eddie. Or Tommy trying to recruit one of them and it spurs a conversation of them not wanting to leave the 118.

I don’t see anything coming out of this Tommy bit other than being used as a plot device. Oliver said Buck has to get off the hamster wheel and live. He has to learn to love himself before anything starts with Eddie.

Also guys we have gotten one or two glimpses of Tommy in BtS and stills. Everything else is Buck and Eddie. The promos, the stills. Buddie is more in sync on screen than ever. And they haven’t had a scene apart yet. (Chris and Buck with Eddie listening at the door still counts).

And yes, I would love see my jealous, petty Eddie again. Because that is one of my favorite versions of Eddie.

Also I would love a verbal I love you between Buck and Eddie. Even a platonic I love you (ie the McDanno I love you). Just something to cement what these two have goes deeper than friendship (and deeper than brothers. Come on guys).

Man, I love Eddie!!

Okay, so... does anyone else feel like Tani and Junior's relationship (which is clearly coded to be a romantic relationship), is eerily similar to McDanno?

Now they're trapped in a collapsed tunnel (buried under a building, anyone?)

The only diff between the two couples is that one is het and so 'allowed' by tptb.

But if you look at how they act with each other- both relationships are the same.

Okay, Danny is in his white tshirt again, and now jealous of Eddie.

H50 9x23 Junior is about to do something stupid and Tani is like “dude? dont do that”, and Danny is like “that’s what Steve does every day, now you know how i feel”. only thing is, earlier in the episode everyone [yes Danny too] is clearly implying that Tani and Junior are in love and are going to the wedding as a romantic couple. so hes basically comparing this soon-to-be romantic couple to their partnership.

And then Danny is LITERALLY telling Tani to “have fun” with Junior while “she’s still young” cause now he’s “old” and it’s too late for him. implying he’s too old to start dating Steve, that it would be too much change. then later in the episode, Lou claims steve is “old” too. reminding us of the conversation Tani and Danny exchanged earlier. (we’re not gonna talk about how similar their name is)

PLUS earlier in the episode, Steve told Mary that “he doesn’t fight for love” the way he should. and then at the end, steve and danny just bicker cause they’re so clearly in love.

Also, during the wedding, someone mistakes Tani and Junior for a couple, and then Tani acts jealous when the girl wants to flirt with him. again, very mcdanno coded.

Anyway. those might not be the exact dialogues since im watching it in french but whatever. gay rights.
