Warning: overbearing???, and a dash of jealousy i know that gets sum of yall
Specifics: jealousy, comedy, romance, drabble, race neutral reader
People: kandomere, chris (oc)
Words: 907
Requested: By @jinx-is-fire Do you still write for Bright? I really want an imagine of Kandomere x reader where he’s always looking after her in the workplace and one day she confronts him about it and ends in fluff? It’s okay if you don’t anymore but I miss Kandomere and no one seems to be writing anything for him anymore :/
Authors Note: yes i still write for bright so u can request since requests r open!!!! i luv kandomere and i wish peeps still wrote for him but i still do dearies! also this is kinda a jealous kandomere fic so if u dont like that then maybe this isnt the fic for u but if u do hey welcome and read to your titties desire!
It started with subtle movements. Since you confronted him about sometimes getting bullied in the workplace he would be there to protect you. Having his large hands on the tiny place of your back. Standing by you almost at all times. Speaking for you. At first it was a blessing but now things were starting to get out of hand. He treated you like you could not save yourself. That you were a child. You were done with the treatment! You know he means all well and good but it aggravated you to no end, you were his girlfriend not his daughter!
As you were pouring yourself coffee in the break room you spotted the half elf half human man that comes by to talk to you everyday. His name was Chris. To you all you wanted was a friendship but you were no dumb woman, you knew what Chris wanted and you would not give it to him. With his handsome smirk he strutted by you.
“Oh hey there y/n, hows your day?” He planted his feet close to yours, his arms leaning against the counter. With a roll of your eyes you put sugar in your coffee, “just fine Chris, thanks.”
“So I was thinking, I have this party commin up in a few days and I was wondering if you would like to join me?”
Mixing your hot drink you pretended to think about the offer, already though making up your mind to say no. “No its okay Chris, I’m good.”
“Oh c’mon y/n, theres gonna be drinks and we’ll have a blast, I promise its gonna be fun.” As Chris was blabbering on and on you could see in the distance Kandomere looking, jealous? You were already annoyed, knowing what Kandomere was going to do.
Kandomere walked to you two and placed his hands on his hips. His icy eyes staring deep into each persons soul. “Hello Chris, hello y/n. What are you guys discussing?”
Already everyone in the workplace knew about your relationship with Kandomere, so you were surprised to see Chris be so upfront knowing that you were with someone.
“Oh we’re just talking about a party I’m having. I was inviting her.” Chris looked at you only, not even giving Kandomere the attention. He acted as if you and him were the only ones in the room. Chris then winked at you and bit his lip. You looked down to the floor awkward at the situation.
“And what does y/n think about your offer?” Kandomere raised a brow in your direction.
Fiddling with your skirt you shrugged, “I don’t know maybe-”
“That would be a no, thanks for asking,” Kandomere again stood up for you with out even acknowledging what you wanted. You were gonna say no but having Kandomere speak for you made your blood boil. He then wrapped his hand on your arm and moved you out of the room. “In my office, now!”
As you sat in a chair in his office you wrapped your arms over your chest. “That was uncalled for, Kandomere.”
Kandomere, silent, sat in his chair by his desk and muttered in spanish as he rubbed his temple. “What the hel* was that about?”
You felt unheard in this situation. With a shocked expression you put your hand out in front of you, “what do you mean?”
“Y/n I don’t know if you realize but you’re with me! We are supposed to be together, boyfriend and girlfriend. But then you talk to Chris or rather you let him talk like that to you, you know he likes you in that other way and you still lead him on.”
Unfortunately he was sorta right but still the way he confronted about it was wrong in your eyes. “Yes fine I’m sorry I was going to say no, but if you would of let me talk on my own-”
Kandomere placed his head back against his chair and with a groan said, “here we go with that again, y/n I understand-”
You stood up and leaned against his window, looking out at the city, “no, no you don’t understand! You treat me like a child sometimes and I hate it! You push me around like a pet and you watch over me all the time. You’re always looking after me and I do appreciate it but sometimes its a little overbearing and its too much.”
“Y/n,” Kandomere cools down and walks to you, placing his hands on your waist and kissing where your neck meets your shoulders. “You know I do it to protect you, I hate seeing you hurt.”
Turning around you meet his eyes and kiss his lips, “I know babe, but still I am a grown up. I need to make mistakes and have confrontation to learn. I am a grown woman and I deserve respect of being treated like how I want to be treated. I thank you for looking out for me and you still can just not to this extent. Please.”
Kandomere nodded and hugged you, kissing atop your head. “You think Chris still wants you at his party?”
You chuckled, “I don’t know, I think you scared him.”
Kandomere backed up and with a smile and looked at your face, “me scary? I don’t think so I think the word is intimidating.”
“You were all those things Kandomere,” you giggled as you placed your head on his chest.

Bright Imagine: Kandomere accidentally meeting your family
After a brutal few weeks of almost nonstop danger in your days and seemingly unending paperwork in your nights, you were thrilled to have a day off. The fact that you could spend it with your older sibling and their family made it even better. Working with the MTF was amazing, but you wouldn’t trade a hefty hazard paycheck for time like this with your family.
These are your favorite kind of days. Perfect weather with sunshine and the lightest hint of a breeze to keep you all cool and comfortable while enjoying the shops lining the pedestrian district of town. You were in one of the trendier human neighborhoods not far from the border of Elftown. It had a hip, artistic reputation, which meant that your nephews were frantically turning their attention from one attraction to the next as quickly as their wondrous, adorable child minds would let them process the scene in front of them. The street was full of other families and couples out enjoying the weather, some holding shopping bags or takeaway containers.
Your sibling and their young family lived in a quiet suburb while you lived further into the city, but you joined forces on weekends like this to expose the kids to some of the more positive parts of living near LA. You carried your oldest nephew’s gym bag slung across your shoulder, allowing him to chase after his little brother, giggling as they revolved around you and their parents like planets hurdling through space. They’d come from tae kwan do practice and hadn’t wanted to change clothes before lunch. Their baby sister cooed in her stroller at clouds passing in and out of her line of sight overhead.
“What a nice day,” your sibling sighed, “So, how is work y/n?”
“Honey, not in front of the kids.” Their partner warned through a forced smile to avoid alarming the children. “No offense y/n.”
“None taken.” you assured them.
Your sibling didn’t work with the MTF like you, but they were an LAPD detective. You knew your in-law worried for you and your sibling, and you didn’t blame them. LA was a big city, and both you and your sibling saw some of the darkest and most dangerous parts of the city and its residents on a daily basis. Besides, your sibling knew enough from the law enforcement rumor mill and the local news to know exactly what your work life was like.
“Fine, fine, are you seeing anyone then?” your sibling quipped.
Their spouse groaned and shot an apologetic look your way before fussing with your niece’s sunhat. Your sibling always was immature, even if they were older than you.
Your nephews whipped around at this question, suddenly very interested in what the adults were saying.
“You know these precious boys are the only gentleman for me!” you said, pretending to be scandalized. Your nephews dropped their serious expressions for wide, toothy grins. You were, in their words, the coolest grown up, and they could be jealous of your attention. Of the few men you had dated long enough to warrant introduction to your family, they hadn’t liked a single one. To be fair though, neither had your sibling.
“Oh y/n, would you mind staying with the kids while we run into this store?” Your in-law suddenly asked, stopping dead in their tracks on the sidewalk. The store window they were focused on looked like a promising place to find a gift for your younger nephew’s upcoming birthday.
“Of course!” you agreed, knowing firsthand what a bad idea it was to take 3 excited children into a store.
You tempted your nephews away from the intriguing shop window - and the temptation to follow their parents inside - with the promise of gelato. You made monthly trips to this part of the city specifically to visit the bookstore next to the gelato shop, but you doubted you could convince the boys to let you go inside and browse the newest arrivals.
The boys ordered exactly what you knew they would - strawberry for the oldest and chocolate for the youngest. You treated yourself to a scoop of espresso and got a sample of orange-flavored gelato for your niece because you knew she always ate oranges first whenever they were put in front of her and assumed she wouldn’t mind orange-flavored gelato.
You had just finished putting your wallet back in your pocket and rearranging your nephew’s bag on your shoulder when you felt both of your nephews grab you. The older one wrapped his small hand in yours, while his brother put his hand in your jeans pocket. It was a gesture you’d taught him half jokingly when he got old and independent enough that he didn’t want to hold anyone’s hand in public. It had been a compromise - he didn’t have to hold your hand but he did have to hold on. Both boys were at that age when they wanted to act and be treated like big kids - and that didn’t include hand holding.
Concerned at their unusual behavior, you turned your attention away from the stroller to look at them. They were both staring intently in the same direction, toward the bookstore. You followed their gaze and noticed a familiar figure standing on the sidewalk. They were about the same height as you, wearing a strangely formal suit for a casual weekend stroll, and their hair was a striking and unnatural shade of grey and blue. And their eyes, which triggered you to finally recognize your boss through the pedestrians walking into your line of sight, were a piercing clear blue like the diamonds glittering in the nearby jeweler’s front window.
“Special Agent Kandomere,” you greeted him, exhaling air you hadn’t realized you were holding in, “What brings you here sir?”
His lips creased as he drew closer. It wasn’t a smile, but it was certainly less of a frown than what you usually saw on his face. He was handsome regardless of his expression, but the fact that he never smiled made you anxious sometimes. You couldn’t tell if he liked you, or if he was even satisfied with your work most of the time. That didn’t bother you too much though. Your martial arts background brought a rare skillset to the task force, especially among humans, and your reviews so far were stellar.
The boys’ grips on you tightened as he stepped closer. Were they afraid of him? They’d seen plenty of elves before, so you doubted that was the problem. Kandomere could certainly be intimating even to adults though.
“I’m here for the secondhand bookshop. They have a larger selection of Ovusi than most chain stores.”
You guessed that he lived nearby then. That made sense - this neighborhood bordered the Elven district. And you knew from personal experience how impressive the store’s selection was.
Kandomere crouched down in front of you, bringing himself eye-level to your nephews.
“And what are your names?” He asked. And for the first time since you’d met him - for the first time in the several months you’d worked side by side since joining the MTF - you saw him smile.
The boys looked up at you, as if asking you for permission to talk to this stranger. You nodded encouragingly. Kandomere could be an asshole, but he wasn’t bad. He seemed to be putting in effort to be nice to your nephews.
Cautiously, they told him their names. Kandomere shifted his gaze up make eye contact with you once more, and you felt a little awkward as you took in the site. Your boss, a respected - even feared - MTF Special Agent in Charge was crouching on a crowded sidewalk in a three piece suit that probably cost more than your rent and car payment combined.
“Are you training to be like your mother one day?” He asked your oldest nephew, no doubt observing the gym bag slung around your shoulder and the fact that your oldest nephew was still wearing his tae kwan do uniform.
You felt a blistering flush rise in your cheeks as your mouth suddenly went bone dry. Kandomere wasn’t the first to mistake your nephews for your children. After all, they had the same h/c hair as you and they generally resembled you in the same way that you resembled your sibling. But you’d never been this embarrassed by it before.
“I wish I could take credit, but these are my nephews.” you blurted out.
The fact that Kandomere, instead of the offering the sheepish grin and hasty apology or joke about family resemblances that most people followed up that assumption with, only smiled more intently at you just made the whole situation seem more strange. There was something unfamiliar behind his eyes that you’d never seen before. You were certain you’d never made this much direct eye contact with him in the entire time you’d known him, so maybe that wasn’t so unusual.
But still. It was all very weird and you wished the ground would swallow you whole.
“They certainly take after you in charm, agent l/n.” He told you as he rose to his full height in an easy, fluid motion that oozed grace and dignity. That was more like him, or at least the version of him you were familiar with from work. This friendly, smiling Kandomere who was currently eliciting excited coos from your niece was a complete stranger to you.
You were about to respond with something unintelligible when you noticed your sibling and their spouse approaching. With the practiced stealth of a detective, your sibling waited until the last possible moment to make their presence behind Kandomere known before announcing themselves by loudly greeting you.
“You must be officer (l/n), y/n’s sibling.” Kandomere greeted them, not fazed at all by the tactic. He shook hands with your sibling, and then their spouse.
Dimly, through the roar of your almost palpable embarrassment, you realized that was the first time Kandomere had ever referred to you by your first name.
Your sibling finally noticed the paper gelato cups in their children’s hands and leveled a piercing gaze at you.
“Really? Even the baby? What are you spoiling my children for now?” They weren’t upset. You often joked that spoiling their children was your way of getting back at them for how they picked on you when you were younger.
“As if I need a reason.”
“Well, I hope you’ve at least learned a lesson, since yours has melted,” your sibling noted.
You looked down, having completely forgotten about your espresso gelato until he reminded you. Sure enough, the mound of aromatic, creamy confection had melted into a pale brown pool in your cup.
“Espresso, y/n?” Kandomere asked, before another smile broke across his features, “you don’t stop mainlining caffeine even on your days off.”
“This one’s just as bad. They both get most of their calories from a Styrofoam cup, I swear.” Your in-law joked, gesturing between you and your sibling as she spoke.
“Well in that case, you’ll have to let me make it up you on Monday,” Kandomere said. After quickly exchanging goodbyes with you and your family members, he turned to walk away in the direction of the shopping center’s underground parking garage. Unfortunately, this left you at the mercy of your family’s curiosity.
“Y/n,” your sibling warned, “I think your boss just asked you on a coffee date.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” you said, “He gets coffee at work all the time.”
“Yeah, with his partner.” your sibling said.
“Come on honey, you did ask if y/n was seeing someone.” Your in-law teased.
“He said they were charming,” your oldest nephew interjected excitedly as your sibling hauled him up to sit on their shoulders.
“He was staring at you.” his younger brother added, tugging at your hip pocket in the unmistakable signal that meant he wanted to be picked up and carried too.
“No he was not!” You hissed as a red flush crept into your cheeks again and you stooped to comply with his demand.
“Was too!”
You groaned, once again wishing the ground would swallow you whole and spare you the pain of waking up the next morning and realizing that the whole incident had in fact happened and wasn’t some figment of your imagination.
“Come on boys, let’s go get lunch. And then you can tell us what else Agent Kandomere said.” your sibling said, smirking even as they danced out of reach of the playful punch you lobbed at their arm.

A Lover’s Mark
Warnings: Language
This was a request from a friend.
This is a limón. ;)
“Oh he’s getting so big!” you say as Maretha hands you her almost one year old son and you prop him up against your hip.
“Hi,” you coo and he responds with a few happy noises and a smile.
Maretha smiles, “I know, he grows so fast. He will start slowing down a little bit, but these first few years he’s going to sprout up.”
“How fast do elves grow up?” you ask.
“Well, when he gets to be about five is where he’ll start to slow down and right before he’s a teenager and during is where he’ll take the longest time to grow,” Maretha explains.
“Oh wow. I guess you’ll be dealing with his teen years for a while then,” you say.
“Yes, we will,” Maretha’s husband says with a nod, “God, I remember what I was like as a teenager,” he says with a shake of his head.
“I think you turned out alright,” Maretha says smiling and placing her hand on her husband’s chest.
Her much taller and darker complexioned husband smiles and leans down and kisses her.
You smile and bounce the little elf baby on your hip and he squeals in delight.
Kandomere comes up to you finally, “I’m sorry it took forever to find a drink that was non-alcoholic,” he says holding a glass up.
When he sees his nephew he tries to lean forwards to take him from you and the baby starts to cry and recoil from him. You and Maretha both aw and you hand her back her son as she attempts to soothe him.
Kandomere’s shoulders slump, “I just don’t understand why he doesn’t like me.”
Maretha swats her hand out at Kandomere, “Nonsense! He likes you!...I think he’s just scared of you sometimes…”
Kandomere looks a little forlornly at his baby nephew who’s starting to calm down now that he’s in his mother’s arms.
You wrap an arm around his waist and give him a sympathetic look and he hands you a glass of strawberry lemonade.
“I just don’t see how my own-“ Kandomere stops and looks to you and your eyes widen as you lower your glass to stare at him, “My own nephew could ever be afraid of me?”
Your boyfriend’s arm wraps around you and you quietly sip your drink.
Maretha’s eyes move between the two of you, “To be fair I think it’s just because you smell like…well...”
“What? What do I smell like?” he asks.
“Crime scenes,” she says quietly, “The scent of blood and death probably just upsets him.”
You finish draining your glass, “You do sometimes smell like that.”
Kandomere looks to you and his face falls some more and you rub your hand across his back. You glance around and spot the pavilion where they’re keeping the wedding cake.
“They’ve still got some cake left want me to grab you another slice?” you ask.
Kandomere lifts his head and glances behind him, “Yes, please.”
“Belgian Chocolate?” you ask.
He smiles, “You know me so well,” he says and he presses a kiss to your cheek.
Maretha shakes her head, “I swear you two and sweets.”
You step away from your boyfriend to go find some cake to cheer him up.
*******
Kandomere watches her go, her soft pink dress hugging her just right.
He turns back around to find Maretha glaring at him.
“What?” he asks.
“You know what,” she says.
“She’s my girlfriend am I not allowed to stare?” he questions.
His sister rolls her eyes, “That’s not what I’m talking about at all, I thought you were to supposed to be an investigator? How can you be so clueless?” she demands.
He’s still confused.
“I know you heard part of our conversation walking over here. Have you not talked to her about having kids?” she asks.
Kandomere opens his mouth slightly, “Well, it hasn’t exactly come up.”
“Hasn’t come up? She has asked me so many questions about my pregnancy and about my son, she clearly wants her own. AND she clearly wants YOURS,” she says gesturing to him.
“Well I-“ he begins and turns to stare across the grass at her as she smiles wide while she’s in conversation with one of the older human women at the reception.
There’s an ache in his heart as he remembers the first and only pregnancy scare they had earlier on in their relationship.
He turns back to his sister who has her eyebrows raised at him, “Are you going to have children or not?”
“I would wish to marry her first! You know how people in this city are, if the baby came first they would assume I only married her for that, and not because I love her,” he says.
Maretha shifts her baby on her hip and outstretches a hand to him and he takes it, “Mi Hermano, you need to talk to her about it. That first conversation is going to be hard, but from then on it’ll get easier and I know you’ll both be so happy when you DO finally have your own little ones.”
Kandomere nods, “You’re right. I just have to find the right moment.”
“Mamá already gave her one of her recipes so clearly she thinks it’s going to last,” Maretha says letting go of his hand.
“She told you about that?” Kandomere questions.
Maretha nods, “And you know how Mamá is about her recipes.”
His brother-in-law stops playing with his son and glances up, “Hey heads up,” he warns and pats Kandomere on the shoulder.
Kandomere turns to see his girlfriend trying to make her way back to him but there are a couple of human men blocking her path. His brows furrow and he starts to get angry as he notices how uncomfortable she looks.
But his blood really starts to boil when he realizes that they’re trying to flirt with her. He starts to stalk his way towards her with the intent on protecting her and that’s when he spies a younger, elven man than him scent her from across the grass and move towards her…
*******
The two men in front of you are trying to flirt with and you couldn’t give less of a shit. Your hands are full with two plates of cake or you’d shove them aside.
“Alright that’s great, but move out of my way,” you growl.
There’s a hand at your back and look up in relief that quickly turns to disgust as you recoil from the strange elf, when you realize he’s not your boyfriend Kandomere.
“You heard her, now leave,” the elf says.
“How about you join them?” you ask.
“If I leave then how am I to protect you?” he asks.
“I don’t need protecting,” you state frowning at him.
“But are you not a damsel in distress?” he asks.
You shake your head at him, “I’m just gonna go take this cake to my Boyfriend.”
“Oh? Where is he? I don’t see him,” he says as he holds a hand over his eyes and pretends to look around.
“Right here,” Kandomere growls.
He turns to look behind him and jumps when he sees him, despite the fact that Kandomere is several inches shorter than him. The human men also find the piercing gaze of your boyfriend to be intimidating and you can’t help but smile at him.
“That’s him. Can you see him now?” you demand.
The elf tries to size up your boyfriend and Kandomere doesn’t back down, but before a fight can break out you close the distance to your boyfriend and kiss his cheek.
“My Love,” you whisper, “Let’s go,” and then you bite his ear and Kandomere has to stifle a groan with considerable effort.
But the other elf is disgusted by your action and backs off.
Kandomere follows you with his hand firmly at your back, swiftly towards his family and he does glance back over his shoulder a couple of times.
When you reach his family again you hand him his cake and he takes it and stares off at the men now dispersing.
“It’s fine, just calm down,” you whisper.
He doesn’t really calm down he just starts eating his cake quietly with a scowl on his face and you try not to laugh as he angrily eats the cake.
Kandomere remains in a relatively grumpy mood for the rest of the reception, but you manage to get him to dance with you for a while.
And you even catch the bouquet, much to your surprise.
When you finally get home Kandomere sulks off to your bedroom and you follow him.
“Kandomere? Kandomere!” you call after him.
You watch him pace back and forth in front of your bed.
“Kandomere, talk to me, what’s wrong?” you ask.
He stops and looks at you and his face softens, “Have I not paid enough attention to you lately?”
“What?” you ask confused.
“I feel like I haven’t and I’m sorry,” Kandomere says.
“Kandomere, you’ve just been busy. We’ve both been busy,” you say.
He glances to the side and there’s a crease between his brows.
“What’s going on? You’ve been acting weird ever since those guys were bothering me earlier,” you say.
He frowns, “Should I not be upset that my girlfriend was being pestered by strange men?”
You knit your brows together and study him for a moment.
This isn’t the first time he’s defended you against guys who refuse to take the hint and he’s usually not perturbed for this long. He did seem particularly upset by the other elf trying to square off against…
You gasp, “You’re jealous of that elf guy that hit on me!”
His eyes widen, “I AM NOT!”
“YOU ARE!” you counter.
He lets out an exasperated sigh, “Why would I be jealous of him? Because he’s younger than me?”
“I didn’t say anything about him being younger,” you state.
He blinks and you know you’ve caught him.
“Yes, well…maybe I am jealous,” Kandomere admits.
You shake your head gently, “I don’t see why,” you say softly.
Kandomere leans back a bit and shifts on his feet.
“I love you, Kandomere,” you say, “And no one could ever take your place in my heart, you know that right?”
He blinks rapidly and steps towards you and cupping your face in his hands, “I love you too and I’m….not used to someone loving me back in the way that you do. Perhaps I’m…just afraid that I might lose you. That someone younger might serve you better than I.”
You snort, “I don’t want someone younger and I definitely don’t want anyone else to begin with. I want you.”
You also want to have his children, but you refrain from saying that.
The truth is Kandomere is the only elf you could ever see yourself with and now you know he’s the only man for you.
You would gladly spend the rest of your life with him and raise a family.
A hand moves to your chin and pulls you towards him and you kiss him.
When your lips part he stares into your eyes lovingly the hand still on your cheek lightly stroking your skin.
“It…has been a few days since we’ve been intimate, yes?” he asks.
“Yes, like I said we’ve both been busy,” you say.
His gaze shifts to the bed beside you both.
You stare at the bed and then stare up at your elf.
“We’re not busy right now,” he says.
“Do you want to be?” you ask.
He smiles, “I do.”
“Pick me up?” you ask.
He reaches down and easily hoists you up and you wrap your legs around him and kiss him. He walks to his side of the bed and sets you down on the mattress and then quickly throws off his jacket and vest. You reach for his tie and pull it loose and then pull him in for another kiss with the tie. You continue to kiss him as you undo his dress shirt buttons and his hand reaches behind you and starts to unzip your dress slowly.
You slip off your shoes and kick them away.
Your hands move to his face next and you hear him undo his belt.
Kandomere’s mouth parts from yours to move to your neck and you bury your fingers in his hair. He bites your neck gingerly and then pulls back and kneels down. His hands trail up and down your legs appreciating what skin he can feel through the cut out patterns of your tights, and then his lips trail over you.
“Don’t,” you warn.
His lips curl up in a smile and his eyes shift up to you.
You don’t want him to bite and tear through another pair of your tights.
The elf obeys and instead he massages up your legs, kneading you slowly.
You tilt your head back and close your eyes.
He reaches your thighs and spends some extra time massaging you there.
“Lie down,” he whispers.
You open your eyes to stare at him and smile as you lay back on the mattress. His hands slide under your dress and you feel his fingers slip under the band for your tights and your underwear and he slowly pulls them off you as you assist him by lifting your hips up.
Once your bare skin is exposed to him you feel his lips trail across you, pressing gentle kisses as he goes. He gets to your thigh and bites and sucks on your skin, and you let out a few small gasps. And then he moves under your dress.
You let out a breathy moan as his tongue slides across your folds and up to your clit and then he proceeds to suck. He’s precise in his movements knowing exactly how to tease you. His tongue moves back down towards your entrance and then pushes into you. He gently maneuvers around inside you for a moment and then withdraws.
He appears out from under your dress and stares at you.
“Why’d you stop?” you whine.
“Darling, I think I know why you’re so irresistible right now,” he says.
You shake your head in confusion.
He smiles, “You’re ovulating. Which means you’re fertile…and ripe,” he rasps the last part.
“Are you saying I’m not usually irresistible?” you demand.
“Not at all, Hermosa, I’m saying I need a condom if I’m going to fuck you,” Kandomere says and reaches into one of the nightstand drawers.
Him being pleased that you’re fertile really starts to arouse you more. You almost wish he’d fuck you without the condom, but now’s maybe not the best time.
You still need to have an actual conversation with him about babies.
He pulls out a condom and sets it on top of the nightstand and closes the drawer and stands up. He removes his shoes and socks and then his pants and underwear. You sit up for him and he pulls your dress over your head and then leans down and kisses you, while undoing your bra. He then places his hand on the back of your head and lowers you onto the mattress. He kisses your chest tenderly and you bury your fingers in his hair.
His hand moves to stroke your clit in a very teasing manner.
His mouth sucks on your breast and then he bites as he rubs you faster. His hand kneads at your other breast and you press your legs to his side. He’s merciless in his touches and your legs start to shake as you moan repeatedly, and then he stops…
“NO!” you whine, “KANDOMERE! I WANT TO CUM!”
“I’ll make you cum not to worry,” he promises.
He picks up your legs and swings them around to face the foot of the bed. He allows you a moment to get comfortable as you scooch back to rest your head on the pillow. Then he dons the condom and climbs on to the bed and positions himself above you and places a sweet kiss to your lips. You wrap your arms around him and spread your legs and he nestles himself comfortably between them. He slowly sinks himself into you and starts off slow, pressing another kiss to your lips.
Your hands move across him and massage what you can reach, adoring every inch of him.
He then moves to your neck kissing you softly.
You lick up his ear and he shudders and lets out a small moan.
You kiss and lick his ear and he moves a little more steadily into you.
You feel him do a few swirling motions with his dick and you pause from your task to let him hear you as you gasp and whine in his ear. He bites down really hard and you cry out and he follows it up with a hard thrust.
You moan softly.
“Did you like that?” he rasps.
“Yes…” you respond.
You feel him smile against your neck and he really picks up the pace, and now you’re really whining and moaning. He lets go of your neck and stares at you as your facial expressions change with each thrust. You dig your nails into his back and drag your hands down him and he groans and throws his head back. He grips your hips and you rock back and forth as he fucks you relentlessly. His face is getting flushed and he leans back down over you and buries his face against your neck.
“Cum, so I can cum,” you plead.
He kisses your neck and you feel your legs start to shake again.
You whine loudly and dig your nails into his back again as you feel your body spasm and the elf clamps down on your neck and groans against your skin as he too finishes. It’s a long drawn out orgasm for the both of you and it takes a while for him to let go and when he does you feel a stinging pain in your neck. You both breathe heavily and your eyes are closed as you try to regain your senses.
“Oh God, I taste blood,” Kandomere says and then gasps, “Mi Amor, I’m sorry, I bit you too hard.”
Your eyes snap open and you stare up at him, his mouth is open, but you don’t see any blood. You reach your hand up to touch your neck and pull it back and stare at the tiniest drops of blood that could have come out of your neck.
You sigh, “Kandomere, it’s fine.”
“Are you sure?” he asks uncertain.
“Yes, it just stings a little. I probably only need a bandaid,” you say.
No sooner than the words leave your mouth he gently pulls out of you and climbs off the bed. You watch as he disappears into the bathroom and shake your head and lie back down, enjoying the euphoria washing over you.
He returns and crawls onto the bed beside you and leans over you and takes a cotton ball, that you can smell is soaked in antiseptic, and cleans the bite. And then he puts one of those colorful bandaids that you insist on buying on to your neck.
You smile when you see it’s covered in little gryphons.
“How’s that?” he asks tentatively.
“It’s perfect, thank you, Nurse Kandomere,” you say.
He rolls his eyes, “Can I not be concerned over you for one minute?”
“It’s fine you didn’t hurt me it’s just a love bite,” you assure him.
“A love bite that drew blood,” he reminds you.
You reach up and cup his face, “Think of it this way no one’s going to think for a second I’m not yours when they see this.”
He smiles a little bit, “I only mark what is mine.”
“As do I,” you say, “Now kiss me.”
He leans down and his soft lips meet yours.

In Transit - Chapter 6
Previous Chapters: ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE
Or: The whole enchilada on AO3
Summary: When Officers Jakoby and Ward are hand-picked by the Magic Task Force to transport a dangerous convicted murderer, they must stay a few steps ahead as various enemies, forces of magic, and mistakes from the past complicate their path.
Notes: This was one of my favorite chapters to write, so I hope people like it. If there is anyone following along with this story, I’d love to hear if there are any questions, etc. (the flashbacks: are they confusing? etc.) Next chapter shall contain smut so get ready...
As Nick drove down the highway, Leigh kept trying to loosen her bracelet without anyone noticing. Agent Kandomere just stared out the window. He was trying to think through the call he’d have to make to his agency once they arrived at the safe house. This really wasn’t going as planned.
After a while, he stole a glance at the orc in the driver’s seat, who seemed to be frowning and gripping the wheel a bit too tightly as he drove.
“Something on your mind, Officer?”
Nick nearly jumped. The elf hadn’t spoken since they’d gotten in the car twenty minutes ago.
“Yes, actually. A lot is on my mind.”
“Is any of it relevant to me or this mission?”
“Agent Kandomere,” Nick started, lowering his voice so that Leigh couldn’t hear, “I don’t believe that this prisoner is guilty.”
“Ah.”
“She doesn’t deserve to be…” He seemed to have a hard time finishing his sentence. “executed for what happened back in L.A. It was an accident.”
“That’s really not your call, Officer. A jury of her peers felt otherwise.”
“I realize that. But if she’s in MTF custody now, can’t you-”
“I can’t. Whatever you are trying to ask me, I can’t. Listen, are you sure you aren’t a bit biased here, because of your history?”
Nick slowly turned to face the elf. He felt color rise in his cheeks. “You… knew about that?”
“Of course. We did our homework. We’ve been following her for years. I picked you two for this mission because of your discretion and professionalism with the wand incident, and because of that same professionalism, I thought you’d be able to set certain things aside. If this was the wrong call, well, it’s a little late now. Was this a mistake?” The agent’s tone made it clear that there was no more room for discussion. Nick missed Daryl: at least when his partner was in a mood, he was funny.
“No.” Nick told him through gritted teeth.
“But… you’re right,” Kandomere continued, speaking as quietly as he could. “She is innocent. That obnoxious elf she studied with - Chad - was recruited by the Inferni to turn Leigh to their cause. I don’t know exactly what happened, but he’s the one who killed all of those people on the bus. He made it look like it was her, like she was unable to control her power. He wanted to isolate her, inflame public fear of magic, and get her to lose confidence in her own abilities. That way, she’d have nowhere to turn but him and the Inferni” He shrugged. “For the most part, it worked.”
Nick was speechless. Not only was she truly innocent, she’d been framed, and the MTF apparently knew about everything.
“So… if you knew, why didn’t you testify, help during her trial?”
“Because eventually, she’s going to lead us straight to the Inferni. Right now, they are going to keep coming after her until we get her to a secure facility, but after that, we have options. Sentences can be commuted. But again, that’s down the road.” He glanced at her through the rear view mirror. “She’s very powerful. Even more than most Brights. They’re going to keep coming for her. By the way,” the agent concluded, unfolding a newspaper to read, “she was never even tempted by anything the Inferni - or Chad - promised. The only thing that worked on her was manipulating the people around her.”
Nick grimaced. It was hard to tell if the agent had meant that as a dig, but Nick felt it as one. He drove on in silence.
--
[TWO YEARS EARLIER]
Leigh adjusted her grip on the wand. It still vibrated in a way that she doubted she could fully control. Chad stood behind her, brandishing his own wand.
“That’s it, you’re so close. Just-” He breathed in and out loudly, “Just remember to breathe when you say the spell words.”
She tried as he said, but she had no confidence in her magic. The first time she’d lifted a chair at school it had flown through the roof, causing significant enough damage that class was held outside for a few weeks.. After that, she couldn’t get the chair to levitate more than an inch. Her powers seemed to be all or nothing.
She tried to put that all out of her head and stay in the moment. Slowly, the chair lifted off the floor and rose… and kept rising… until it hit the ceiling.
“It didn’t fly through the roof, oh my gods. It’s working,” she whispered with her eyes fixed on the chair.
“Breathe, Leigh. Keep your focus on the spell.”
As she did, she heard Nick’s keys in the front door. He came in, saw the chair on the ceiling, and froze. He knew her magic had been a bit unpredictable, and he didn’t want to distract her.
It was too late.
“Hi, baby! Look, I- oh crap!” When she started talking to him, the chair had begun to rotate slowly. It was now picking up speed, moving faster and faster. She used the spell words again, but she couldn’t stop it.
“Okay, I’ve got you,” said Chad, rushing up behind Leigh and wrapping his hands around hers. Slowly the chair slowed its rotation and sank back to the floor. From behind Leigh, Chad made eye contact with Nick and winked. “Us Brights have to stick together, don’t we?”
Nick glowered at him from the doorway.
“Thank you, Chad,” she told him. “Ugh, we worked hard today- I’m wiped out! I’m gonna grab some water. You guys want any?” The guys shook their heads no and Leigh went to the kitchen.
“I thought you were going to wrap up early today,” said Nick in a chilly tone.
“We were but, well, things were going well. We lost track of time. You know Leigh when she gets excited about something.”
“Yes,” Nick said, stepping closer to the elf without breaking eye contact. “I do know Leigh.”
“What’s wrong?” Chad said, feigning confusion. ‘You’re not jealous, are you? I thought your relationship was rock solid.” He finished with a smirk.
“Our relationship,” Nick growled, “is none of your business. And I think it’s time for you to leave. Magic practice is over. Why don’t you gather your things and get out of here?”
“Nick!” yelled Leigh from the doorway. “Chad, I’m sorry, he didn’t mean-”
“Nah, it’s fine Leigh. I was leaving anyway. See you in class tomorrow.” He grabbed a ratty backpack and headed out the door. Once he was out of earshot, she whipped around and glared at Nick.
“Leigh-”
“I don’t want to hear it, Nick! He came here to help me, on his own time. You’re always awful to him.”
“Leigh, he’s not who you think he is. He’s lying to you. He has some whole plan that includes getting you injured. I told you what he said at your party last month.”
“You did, Nick, and it didn’t make any sense. You must have heard wrong. If he wants to hurt me, why would he go out of his way to help me with my magic?”
“Please just listen-”
“You know what? I’m done listening. It’s always the same shit. I’m going out for a while. Don’t wait up.” The door slammed and Nick just stared, feeling helpless.
She would never believe him. That hurt. Worse, there were people around her who meant her harm… and he didn’t know how to protect her.
--
[present day]
Per Agent Kandomere’s directions, Nick pulled down a narrow gravel road that had forked off from a pitted asphalt one. He was about to ask if the elf was sure they were heading in the right direction, when around a corner, a large rustic farmhouse came into view. It would have been almost a postcard if it hadn’t been enclosed by an eight-foot barbed wire fence and an imposing mechanical gate.
“Cozy,” remarked Leigh to herself, forgetting that both elves and orcs had much stronger hearing than humans. Nick snickered a little.
“It doesn’t have to be cozy,” replied Kandomere. “It has to be secure. And it is.”
“Remind me about this place if I ever need somewhere to churn some really top secret butter,” Leigh said.
This safehouse, the elf explained, was created as a magic “dead zone,” and was used in various ways by the MTF: for trainings, as a remote office, a venue for high-level meetings. It was one of the most secure facilities owned by the MTF. Kandomere was glad it had been available.
“From here, we’ve only got a six-hour drive tomorrow to the MTF prison facility.”
Leigh fell silent. While they were driving, it felt so far in the future, but now her reality was catching up to her. She felt a heavy weight settle in her gut.
---
The house was tucked away from view faced some hills dotted with scraggly desert trees. After they’d settled in, Nick walked out to the house’s front porch and sat on a wide cushioned bench. After the past two days, his head was spinning and he welcomed the quiet. He wondered what Leigh was feeling. He wondered how he would keep his promise to her. He wondered if he’d made a mistake in their relationship, and how things might be different today if he’d done things another way back then.
Back then. He found himself going back to those memories over and over… He wondered if she was starting to feel the same things he was.
“Hey, tomatoes.” He was so lost in thought that he hadn’t even heard Leigh join him on the porch. The night was a little chilly and she stood wrapped in a fluffy blanket. He startled a little at her voice. “Can I join you?” He nodded and patted the bench next to him.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
“I’m tired. Scared. Kinda sad. I’m kind of enjoying being able to stretch my arms, though.” Secure inside the fence’s perimeter, Agent Kandomere had given clearance for her to remove her handcuffs. “And I’m really glad you’re here.” Nick wasn’t sure what to say to that. He stretched one arm along the back of the bench.
“Come here, Leigh,” he said softly. She scooted a little closer to him and leaned into his chest. He let his arm drop down from the back of the bench, pulling her into an embrace. The sturdy shape of him was instantly familiar. How many times had they sat this way when they were together? She closed her eyes and breathed him in. For the briefest moment, everything felt just like it had then.
“Nick- I want to tell you how sorry I am. I mean, about… us. Before. You tried to warn me about Chad so many times, and I just… I never heard you. But you were right. About everything.”
“I wanted to say the same thing. I’m sorry, Leigh. I clearly went about things the wrong way back then. I was trying to help but I just pushed you away. I’m so sorry.”
Leigh took the blanket she was wearing and draped it over both of them before relaxing back into him. She drew her legs up beside her and draped her arm across his waist.
“I really loved you, Nick. I loved you so much.”
He didn’t know what to do in that moment but be there for her, but for whatever it was worth, he was ready to do that. He felt her body relax and her muscles go slack against him.
Just as he was certain she was asleep, he craned his neck down to kiss the top of her head, whispering:
“I never stopped.”
---
“Gods dammit!” Chad yelled. He’d lost the signal again. Sarah rolled her eyes. This guy was an idiot and yet somehow her fate was tied to his.
“Pull over. You’re not going to crash this car with me in it.” she told him.
“They went down a small road - here - and then nothing. I think something’s blocking her signal again.”
“You’re sure it’s this road?” She pointed on the map.
“I’m sure.”
“Well, that’s no problem. It’s a dead end- see? We know this isn’t their final destination. We’ll just go down the road until the last place you saw the signal… and wait.”

Part 5 - Lady In Red
“Well that was a colossal waste of time...”
Pulling her boots off, Topaz dropped them and groaned as her feet flattened against the plush carpet. They had spent all night in interrogation and they still weren’t even a sliver closer to finding out where the wand was and who, besides them, was all after it. If she had to take a guess Inferni were involved, but it really could be any coven, as several were represented in the Elven district here. Whatever the case, the Shield of Light didn’t seem to be involved. At least the two in custody didn’t brandish the tattoo.
“Not entirely,” Kandomere spoke as he closed the door behind them.
“We just spent like 7 hours in that shit hole trying to get those schmucks to talk, and they didn’t flinch.”
“Exactly,” he said, and smirked in that creepy way that told her he knew something she didn’t. “They didn’t flinch.”
This caused Topaz to pause, the socks she had just pulled off her feet still in hand and her toes spreading a little as they sank into the carpet. It almost derailed her train of thought. Shifting on her feet a little, she gave a curious head tilt. They didn’t flinch,” she repeated his words, trying to catch his train of thought, and closed her eyes a moment when she realized the connection she hadn’t made before. “No flinching, because someone trained them, and I know that look. You just had an idea.”
“I do have a few ideas, but they require some preparation.”
Pursing her lips, Topaz debated whether or not she wanted to ask him what those ideas were and what kind of preparation it required, but from past experiences she had learned that Kandomere always gave her just the information he was willing to share, and asking for more only got her frustrated. “Okay. Will this preparation take long?”
“Long enough for you to rest, yes.”
Topaz let out a little sound of excitement, turning to head to her bedroom.
“Topaz...”
Pressing her lips together, she resisted the urge to give him a smart retort and turned around with an annoyed what?’ look.
He had taken off his jacket and draped it over the back of a chair. His gaze went from her down to the discarded boots on the ground and back.
For real?
Balling her hands into fists, she wanted to tell him very much that if the boots bothered him, he could move them, but this was just the first day, and she had a feeling she would have to share a living space with him for the majority of the week. It was probably best not to get into a fight over something as stupid as her boots right off the bat. Swallowing her pride, she snatched up the boots and made sure he saw her flinging them into her room.
Her butt bumped the door closed, her eyes on her phone to look through her messages. Her finger hovered over Genny’s number when her phone started buzzing and her name appeared on the screen. Swiping her finger over the screen she answered the call. “You must have some crazy ESP, girl. I was literally just about to call you.”
“Oh really? I just wanted to check up on you.”
“Uh huh, sure. You want to know things, elfie things.” Topaz chuckled when Genny tried her best to deny it. She knew better though. For some reason, the more Kandomere ignored her, the bigger her crush became on the elf. “Before you hit me with the twenty questions though, I need a favor.”
“Anything, chica. Whatcha need?”
“If I wire you some money, would you mind going by my landlord later and pay my rent? She’s getting antsy and I don’t wanna come home to all my stuff out in the street.”
“Yeah, of course. Just text me when you’ve wired the money.”
“Thank you, you’re a lifesaver.” Cradling the phone between her ear and her shoulder, she wiggled her pants down her hips, Using one of her feet, she threw the garment up in the air so she could catch it without bending over. “I really need to find something cheaper, so if you hear anything, let me know, please.”
“You know, if you’re having trouble making rent, I have an extra bedroom. Splitting rent would make it easier on both of us.”
It was a tempting offer, one she was seriously considering, but she didn’t want to jump right in. She had bad experiences with roommates in the past. “Not sure you’d be able to put up with my messy ass.”
“You don’t have to say yes right away. Just think about it, come by when you get back, get a feel of the place and we’ll talk about it.”
It was a reasonable offer. “Alright. Hang on.” Shrugging her blouse off, she put the phone down long enough to toss her blouse on the chair in the corner and slip on the t-shirt she had brought to sleep in, not wanting to risk Kandomere walking in on her naked again. “Back. Okay, ask away. Just know I am silently judging you.”
“FYI, it’s not very silent when you tell me about it. So what’s it like?”
“It’s Vegas. Loud, in your face, and very superficial.”
“I don’t mean the city, I figured that much.”
“Lush carpet, too much white, amazing bed...” Topaz moaned, sinking back into the pillows and pulling the sheets up to her waist. “The view is pretty decent too. The only downside is I have to share it with Captain Grumpypants.”
“Ugh. You are so lucky. I am so jealous right now.”
“Genny, I love you, but you’re hopeless. Need I remind you he’s my boss?”
“That just makes it hotter. He’s your boss, you’re the subordinate...”
“Okay, I am gonna hang up on you. I need sleep, not nightmares. I’ll text you.” Ending the call, she tossed her phone on the bed beside her. Sinking down further into the pillows, she let out a content sigh. She could definitely get used to these assignments if she got so sleep in beds like these.
Kandomere proved once more that subtlety and tact were not his strong points, when he all but barged into her room and stated it was time to get up. It felt like she had passed out minutes before, but the clock disputed that feeling. Rubbing the sleep from her face, she dragged her unwilling body out of bed, and with toiletries under her arm, she all but sprinted across the living area to the bathroom for a quick shower.
She heard a knock on the door while she was drying off, followed by Kandomere speaking to someone. Slipping on the impossibly soft bathrobe, she tied it up and peeked out of the bathroom before she emerged. Kandomere was carrying a black clothing bag on a hanger, disappearing into his bedroom with it. What on earth was he up to?
Looking in on him, she watched him unzip the bag and reveal an expensive looking suit. Didn’t he bring enough of his own? Things just kept getting more and more curious.
“You should get dressed.”
His voice cut through her thoughts and her gaze shot up to meet his. “For what? Where are we going?”
“Elven district. Those tattoos those guys were sporting weren’t random, or some gang affiliation. There is a club where Elves go to meet humans.”
“I thought humans were servants?”
Kandomere laughed.
It clicked. She had heard about Elves keeping humans as pets before. It was some sort of fetish she didn’t understand, but to each their own. “Oh. I see.”
“We leave in thirty minutes.”
The tone of his voice urging her into action. “Right. Wait, I didn’t bring anything other than work clothes.”
Her comment got a smirk from him. “Check your room.”
Now she was convinced he was up to something. Curiosity got the better of her, so instead of asking him, she went into her bedroom to find a similar bag hanging from her closet door. Unzipping it she revealed a sea of red, her fingertips gliding over the fabric told her it was silk, not satin. This was an expensive dress.
Slipping her robe off, she struggled with the slippery fabric, getting her head through the opening only to realize she had the dress twisted. Muttering some curses under her breath, she finally got her arms through the straps correctly, smoothing out the top which fit eerily perfect over her curves. Having the dress somewhat figured out, she stepped in front of the mirror to look at her reflection.
“This can’t be right...”
The red strappy dress had a plunging neckline, the bodice form hugging, but what didn’t make it look right to her was the full length flowing skirt, with a split running way up the front on either side, so that when she stood there, not only her legs, but her panties peeked out as well. This definitely couldn’t be right.
“Are you sure this is the right dress?” she called out.
Kandomere appeared behind her, wearing black pressed pants, and a white button up shirt, which still had the top few buttons undone, a silk tie hanging loose around his neck. He wasn’t wearing shoes either, which took her a little aback. For a moment she just stared at him in the reflection of the mirror, committing the view to memory because she wouldn’t likely see him like this again.
Looking her up and down, he looked dead serious when he nodded. “Yes.”
Topaz snorted, looking over her reflection, tugging on the dress here or there. “This thing makes me look like you bought me for the night.” The gears in her mind started to work overtime, making the connections she really didn’t want to make, and her eyes went wide. “You want me to play a hooker?!”
“Escort,” he answered as casually as possible, buttoning the cuffs on his shirt like what he was telling her was the most normal thing. His eyes and the little smirk betrayed his amusement.
Her eyes were shooting daggers when she snapped her head to look at him directly, clenched fists ready to wipe the look off his face. He disappeared from view before she could act on the impulse. Growling in frustration, she snatched up one of her boots and threw it at the empty doorway.
How was this happening? Her first assignment, and she was going to be playing the working girl. This was beyond humiliating. She could barge into the other room and demand that they used some other strategy, but she knew he had a point. Her usual attire screamed law enforcement, and Elves in their own district weren’t going to even acknowledge her existence, let alone answer her questions.
So what’s bigger, Taz, your sense of duty or your pride?
Closing her eyes, she counted to ten until the urge to punch Kandomere in the face subsided. “Swallow your pride and do your job. You’ve gone undercover before. It’s just acting.” Talking to her reflection helped, and nodding, she finished up getting ready. She was almost finished when she spotted the one glaring flaw to her look. She definitely needed to wear something else.
Hoping against hope, she dug through her suitcase to find anything besides her regulars, but she found nothing. There wasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell she was going out there without underwear, undercover or not. Something told her to look behind the zipper that was lining the inside of her suitcase, and what she found made her both sigh in relief and want to strangle Genny at the same time.
When they had packed up her go bag together, Genny found a way to sneak some of her lingerie in as well. Picking up the black lacy thong, she quickly switched her panties for it, checking her reflection to make sure they didn’t peek out. Satisfied, she flipped the suitcase closed, and pushed it back in the closet.
“Ready?”
Kandomere was leaning in the doorway, now fully dressed, including a black vest and jacket, but one thing was missing. His gorget. It made sense though, it was a very recognizable item, and his reputation might precede him if he wore it. Like her work clothes, it would make the Elves suspicious and defensive.
A pair of strappy heels were dangling from two fingers and he held them out after taking in the view and nodding approvingly. She snatched them from his hand and sat down on the foot of the bed to put them on. Kandomere disappeared from sight once again. “Lord, give me the strength not to kill him.”
Put your game face on.
Standing up straight, she took a moment to get used to the heels, which were surprisingly comfortable despite being inches higher than her usual footwear. The heels did something to her, making her sashay a little, which was one of the reasons she didn’t normally wear them, but it helped put her in character now.
Her eyes narrowed, glaring at him when he offered his arm. Slipping her hand under to curl her fingers around, she let him lead them to the elevator. She could feel his gaze on her as she stared ahead at the elevator doors when they closed.
“I hate you.”

Forensics Part 2
So this is part 2, some warnings there’s violence here and in the next part. Thank you so much for being kind about this, it means a lot. SO yeah here we go
PART 2
She dreaded going to work that night, knowing who she would have to deal with when she got in. As the opened up the lab she set her protein shake down on the desk and waited. While she waited she decided to review some of the samples from the building wreckage to see if there any traces of magic. To most eyes it was hard to spot but she had an interesting sense of sight, at least according to her optomotrist. Narrowing her eyes as she looked into microscope she searched for the estranged particle. If it was true that there was an elf in the burning building then they had to have gotten out somehow. Not that she believed Kandomere but it couldn’t hurt to check. She was checking a piece of a wall when she saw it, a glittering particle that could have easily been overlooked as fairy dust but fair dust has more colour to it. Thie particle was purely silver which meant one thing. A wand. A knock at the door caught her attention “Come in” she called As she walked in he prattled on about what was needed to care for his suit but she cut him off “You may have been right” she said “What?” asked Kandomere “But you neglected one detail, the bright had a wand” He stood there gobsmacked. A bright was one thing but a wand? “How could you know this?” he demanded “Wands leave a silver particle of magic when used, it’s hard to spot but it’s there, most people would call it a trace” He was barely listening now, this case just got far more urgent. Discarding his suit on a nearby chair he grabbed Sera’s arm “Come with me” he said as he began to pull her along She didn’t put up a fight as he pulled her down the hall but she did ask “Where are we going?” “To prove that I’m not crazy” She chuckled as matched his pace. They rounded to corner and barged through into the chief’s office “Chief I need to talk to you” said Kandomere The chief looked up from his paperwork in shock at the sudden intrusion “What?” “I said I need to talk to you” Kandomere reiterated as he brought Sera forward The chief seemed quite confused by Kandomere’s sudden outburst, even more so by the involvment of the forensic scientist. “What’s this about agent?” he demanded “Tell him” Kandomere’s voice was edges with excitement. Sera took a deep breath “There was traces of wand magic found in part of a wall sample that was brought to me” she admitted “I didn’t see it before because I wasn’t looking for it but in light of my recent discovery, I am inclined to believe that agent Kandomere may have been right about there being a bright on seen” The chief stood from his chair, placing his hands on his desk as he leaned toward the two “Do you know what this means Sera?” “That I overlooked an easy to miss detail and made 1 mistake in 50 years?” Sera quirked an eyebrow 50!? How old was this human? The chief stood upright “It means you could have costed us big time, a wand is serious business, that’s the type of mistake that gets someone like you fired” Sera looked down for a moment before asking “Am I fired?” Kandomere had never seen her so humbled, he surpressed the smirk that threatened to show itself “Not if you can help solve this case” said the chief both Sera and Kandomere snapped their heads in his direction “What?” they said in unison “You heard me, as penance for your arrogance, you will got back to the site with agent Kandomere and see if there’s more evidence to be found” “Sir…” started Kandomere “It’s not up for debate agent, now if neither of you mind, I do have work to do and so do you, I suggest you get on it fast” As they left the chief’s office Kandomere wondered why the chief was punishing them both, he hadn’t done anything wrong. They stormed down the hall like tantruming children, and would not stop til they got to the door when Sera finally spoke “One car or seperate?” “I’m not riding with you” “FIne by me” They huffed and continued to storm in seperae directions
He’d gotten there first and was looking around the scene for anything that could help with investigation when he heard another car pull up. Turning to scold Sera for being late he found himself silenced as he looked over her car. Stepping out of a vintage 1964 Aston Martin DB5 she tossed her dark hair over her shoulder and walked toward him “That’s your car?” he asked stunned “Beautiful isn’t she?” smirked Sera “That’s vintage!” he exclaimed “Jealous?” He looked at her with raised eyebrows and she laughed “Can we just get to work?” he sighed Sera shrugged and began to look around, squinting in certain places. Kandomere furrowed his brows “Don’t you need equipment?” he asked “Now that I know what I’m looking for, my eyes can pick up it’s trace” she replied curtly her gold piercings shimmered in the pale light as she spoke. He watched her curiously as she walked around the area before ducking under the yellow tape that was across the door way and slipping inside the buildings remains. After a moment he followed her in and found her staring at a wall near the back of the main room, she was about to reach out and touch it when he spoke up “You can’t touch anything here” he said calmly She paused before speaking “They’re everywhere” Looking closely she could see silver particles all around the room. There had definitely been a wand here. He watched her look around the room in wonder. Clearly she’d never been close to a wand before. He found himself wondering how she saw everything if she could pick up the littlest specks of magic without a magnifying glass. He was about to ask her when a horrific noise from outside had them both facing the door in shock. A gun shot. Looking at each other briefly Kandomere signaled Sera to stay put and ducked out of the building. Sera thought for a second and decided to follow him. When she got outside Kandomere was facing away from her with his gun pulled. Curiously she looked around him and found that he was facing a human who was standing over an orc who was clutching his bleeding shoulder. Sera’s breath caught in her throat, blood

In Transit - Chapter 5
Bright fanfiction / Nick Jakoby x OFC
Previous Chapters: ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR
Or: The whole enchilada on AO3
Summary: When Officers Jakoby and Ward are hand-picked by the Magic Task Force to transport a dangerous convicted murderer, they must stay a few steps ahead as various enemies, forces of magic, and mistakes from the past complicate their path.
Nick slowed down and pulled over the car. There were five people waiting at the roadblock: the Sheriff, two police officers, and two of the men who’d recognized Leigh back at the motel. They must have used a shortcut of some kind to pass Nick, Daryl, and Leigh. The men from the motel did not appear to be police officers, but there was no telling what they had already told the sheriff.
In the passenger seat, Ward sighed heavily.
”What’s your plan here, Jakoby?”
”Ward, they’re still police officers. I think we just explain ourselves and continue on our way.”
”Guys-“ Leigh piped up from the back seat.
”Not all of them. You think Mr. Blue Pickup Truck is interested in the law, Nick? He was ready to fire at us back at that motel.”
”Guys-"
“I think the Sheriff would be reasonable,” Nick responded. They didn’t seem to hear Leigh.
“And if he isn’t?” asked Ward.
“If he isn’t, I have an idea.” Nick leaned over to whisper to Ward, out of Leigh’s earshot. She saw him open the glove compartment and hand the MTF cellphone to Daryl.
Leigh gave up on trying to get their attention and started working on her bracelet, working on the crack until she could pry it open and get them all out of this mess.
At that moment the sound of a megaphone rang out.
”This is the Sheriff of Lincoln County. I’m ordering you to exit the vehicle, slowly, drop your weapons and place your hands on your heads.” The two officers looked at each other before opening their doors, Daryl giving Nick a slight nod. Before he left the car, Nick turned around to Leigh.
“We’re going to stall as long as we can. Just stay low, out of sight.”
--
[TWO YEARS EARLIER]
Nick and Leigh exchanged a few sloppy, wine-fueled kisses on his front porch. It was Leigh’s birthday and they’d just enjoyed a leisurely dinner date at their favorite restaurant. She was looking forward to some additional “celebrations” once they were inside. Reluctantly, Nick separated his lips from hers.
“Leigh, sweetheart, let’s wait until we get inside.”
She draped herself on him as he managed to get his keys in the lock. She started nibbling his ear, causing him to drop the keys twice before he was able to successfully open the door.
”Mmm, now you can give me my other present... You know,” She said, talking a little more loudly than usual due to the wine as she stumbled inside. “In the bedroom?”
“Leigh-.”
“I mean you. I mean unwrapping you. And then-”
”Shhh…” he said, stifling some laughter.
”Why shhh? I know you like it when I’m loud.” She pulled up his shirt, running her hands over his skin - she loved the way his muscular chest felt - and started trying to pull his shirt over his head. He giggled and tried to gently hold her hands still.
”Listen, honey,” he whispered, “Trust me- wait a second.”
”What are you-“ Nick cut her off by flipping on the living room light to reveal about fifteen of her friends jumping out from behind furniture.
”SURPRISE!” They all yelled in unison. A few giggled.
Leigh’s eyes went wide and her hands flew back to her own pockets as she tried to remember exactly how much her friends had just heard. Behind her, Nick smiled shyly. Her friend Jeanette crossed the space to hug her first.
“Leigh, happy birthday! I was so afraid you already knew about the party, but I think now we can safely say that was not the case!” The party burst into laughter at that and any awkwardness in the room evaporated. Nick hung back a bit as Leigh greeted her guests one at a time. He said hello to the ones he already knew and was pleasantly surprised, as he always was with Leigh’s classmates, to sense their ease around him.. There were vanishingly few places where an orc and a human could express affection, but a room full of Brights was one of them. Magic users, in Nick’s experience, tended to hold more nuanced views of the different races than most humans - certainly, more than the humans in his Police Academy class. Leigh’s classmates always spoke to him with the same respect they’d give anyone: elf, orc, or human.
A few hours into the party, Nick went out to the backyard to get a little air. In a corner of the yard he saw... Chad. Nick still didn’t trust him, but he thought this might be a good time for a fresh start. He hated fighting with Leigh, and they’d had so many tense conversations about Chad. Maybe Nick could be the bigger person here. If Leigh got along with him, there must be something good about him. Maybe. In any case, Nick was ready to forget the past and start over. He started to walk towards him when he overheard snippets of a phone conversation and froze in place.
“Yeah. They’re still together, for now. It’s been almost three months, but I’m working on it... I’m actually at his house right now if you can believe it…. I don’t know, she doesn’t even notice my flirting, but he sure does… Of course they don’t suspect anything, she’s so naive, and he’s stupid even for an orc… Yes…Maybe… Look, I mean, she might get hurt that way but it could work…. Yes, I know we need her alive but, actually, an injury might actually be helpful.” Nick heard him laugh as he said this. What the fuck was this asshole planning? “I’m working on it, okay? I’m sure. Yes… okay, fine, I’ll see you later, Sarah.”
Well, there went that. Nick considered what he’d heard as he quietly made his way back to the house. Chad wanted Nick and Leigh to break up - no surprise there - but now he was planning something that might injure her? He saw Leigh through the window, laughing, and hung his head. How could he get her away from him when she saw him every day at her school? Would she believe what he’d just heard?
He thought of Chad laughing as he talked about injuring Leigh. Nick had to keep trying. Even if Leigh was angry. Even if she thought he was just jealous. Even if they got in a huge fight over it.
He wouldn’t - he couldn’t - let her be hurt, even if it meant things would be uneasy between the two of them.
----
[PRESENT DAY]
The bracelet that the MTF used to stifle Leigh’s magical powers was actually designed - by a Bright - to make life easier for other Brights. The inventor’s hope was that Brights could use these bracelets to stay safe and undetected while leading lives as normal as possible. She would be horrified to learn that the MTF now used them as a form of prisoner restraint.
The inventor, a mechanical engineer, had built it with two primary functions. First, its exterior projected a field that neutralized the physical and astrophysical traces left behind by magic use. This would block anyone from detecting the wearer’s magical activity. Second, its interior was built to shrink and conceal a wand. The external structure of the device was a sturdy military-grade polymer, reinforced by magic. The interior had a hollow cavity that used a permanent spell to reduce a wand to one eighth of its usual size. A single button popped the clasp, allowing the bracelet to open and the wand inside to emerge at its full size.
The design and magical elements were so intertwined that the device could not be replicated by anyone but the inventor. Because the MTF kept tabs on all known Brights in the country, they had become aware of this device from its development and they hired her to create a dozen of these for the agency’s official use… with some slight modifications. She wondered why they’d created them without the button that allowed a Bright wearer to remove and replace the wand at will, but she was paid well enough that this didn’t bother her for long. However, the addition of a tracking device was not part of her original schematics and went against every reason she’d created it.
She flatly refused to add one.
The MTF added them anyway, tacking them onto each completed bracelet with tiny screws that were able to puncture magical fields. The holes drilled for the screws had weakened the device enough that when Leigh fell, the tiniest crack had started to form. It was this crack that had rendered the concealment function unstable. It was periodically shooting out surges of energy and beams of blue light. These traces of magic had left a trail that both Agent Kandomere and Chad had now picked up.
To the agent, these surges were worrying. Although the tracking device had begun to malfunction, the spikes in magical energy could be picked up by anyone who was looking. There must have been damage of some kind to the bracelet. Hopefully she hadn’t been injured, but he knew something had happened. He frowned at the irregular beeping on his MTF map software. The transport SUV wasn’t far off and they seemed to be stopped in the middle of nowhere. More confusing. He heard a ringtone and looked down to see an incoming call from the phone in the transport vehicle. He answered it and heard voices: people shouting. The officers had placed the phone on speaker and appeared to be in the middle of a confrontation. He asked his driver Argyle to pick up the pace.
To Chad on the other hand, this was the first useful information he’d received in two days. He could identify the signature traces of Leigh’s magic anywhere. He tried to act calm as he saw a spark light up his paper map, and turned the car around slowly so that Sarah wouldn’t ask too many questions about the abrupt turn. He hadn’t been as fortunate in tracking her and was still more than 100 miles away. Sarah gave him a sidelong glance and only snickered as he re-routed, making his way back to intercept Leigh.
---
“Where’s your prisoner?” The sheriff asked, looking at Ward.
“Sir,” Ward started. “We’re LAPD officers on official assignment for the Magic Task Force, and we really need to be on our way. The man behind you is interfering with police business and I highly recommend you not pay any attention to anything he might be saying.”
“That’s not what my friend Danny here tells me. He’s saying that y’all have abducted Leigh Caldwell and are impersonating police officers. Can I see some credentials? Slowly.”
The officers slowly reached for their wallets and showed the sheriff their badges. This seemed to relax him… somewhat.
“As my partner said-” Nick began.
“Did I ask you?” The sheriff shot back. Nick seethed but remained quiet.
“Sir, this orc is an officer of the LAPD and you will speak to him with respect.”
Even with everything going on, Nick puffed up a little at his partner standing up for him. He didn’t have time to appreciate it. Mr. Blue Truck - Danny, apparently - fired a bullet into the dirt near the officers’ feet. Nick didn’t react to the gunshot but Ward jumped. “Quick dicking around. Hand over the prisoner.” Snarled Danny.
The sheriff whipped around to yell at him. “Back the fuck off, Danny. We’ve got this. I don’t need your help.” Maybe these two weren’t so close. He turned back to Nick and Daryl. “But we will need to take custody of your prisoner until we’re able to confirm your story with the feds.”
“We’re not going to do that,” growled Nick.
“Hand her over or we’re taking you all into custody,” said the sheriff.
“Do it and you’re making the biggest mistake of your life,” Daryl warned, “and judging by that haircut your mistakes are a pretty long list.”
“You want to get smart, son? Fine, hand her over or I can’t be responsible for your safety if you try to leave with her.” He nodded his head towards Danny, who raised a rifle to aim at Nick.
--
Back in the car, Leigh was laying as low as possible, hiding out of view as Nick had asked. She couldn’t really hear what the officers were saying, but the sound of a bullet was unmistakable. She wanted to help but couldn’t think of what to do that wouldn’t just make things worse. A few moments’ silence followed, then another gunshot. A scream. The rumble of another car’s engine arriving and shutting off. Silence for several seconds. She strained her ears for any sign of a voice. If Nick had gotten hurt trying to protect her…
After a few moments, she heard BANG BANG BANG - a frantic knock on the car door. She tried to press herself further into the seat. Leigh winced as someone slid the SUV’s rear door open, then relaxed as she saw that it was Nick. Thank Jirak.
“Leigh, Daryl’s been shot - but he’s okay - and the elf agent from the MTF is here.” He helped her out of the car. She saw Kandomere speaking with the sheriff. The men in the pickup truck were being cuffed and led into the police vehicles.
The sheriff had believed the men in the truck easily enough to threaten Nick and Daryl, but now seemed to be cooperating fully with Agent Kandomere, who appeared to be in charge now. Leigh didn’t really know what had happened but she was relieved that no one was pointing any guns at anyone, for the moment.
On the ground lay Daryl, panting and bleeding from a wound in his shoulder. Nick kneeled down next to him and Leigh followed suit. Agent Kandomere approached the three of them.
“Hey,” said Ward to the small group that had gathered. Even one syllable appeared to be a struggle.
“Officer Ward. Try not to talk too much. My driver is going to take you to a hospital, and I’m going to take your place with Officer Jakoby and the prisoner. Excuse me,” he said, walking away to take a call.
“That guy… just a real… teddy bear.”
“How do you feel?” asked Leigh.
“Like shit, actually... Thanks for asking.”
“Hey partner- you know there are easier ways to get out of having to hear my Orcish music, right?” Daryl smirked. “Take care of yourself. Text to let me know when you get home. Soon as I get back to L.A. I’m going to bring you some vitamins, and I’ll tell Sherri and Sophia to make sure you take them.”
“Nick, man… just be careful... And you?” he looked at Leigh. “Try not to… get him killed, okay?”
“I’ll try,” Leigh said in a soft tone. She felt so guilty she could hardly speak.
Nick helped Leigh to her feet - she was still in handcuffs - and they walked back towards the vehicle.
“So what happened?”
“We called the MTF agent.. I had this phone clipped to my belt, and we put it on speakerphone so the agent could hear what was going on. Daryl and I were going to just stall as long as we could. Luckily, the agent was already following us, and he was just a few miles away. Anyway, that guy from the hotel this morning? He saw the phone, maybe heard it, and fired at me. Daryl pushed me down.” He shook his head. “He took a bullet for me. I can’t believe he did that.”
“Yeah, that’s… Damn, Nick.” She was grateful to Daryl but this was surreal. “I’m glad he’s going to be okay. But all of this - for me? Why do they care?”
“One of the people that, um, that were in that bus - was his niece. He just wanted…” Nick trailed off and shook his head. Leigh could finish that sentence in her head: Revenge. He just wanted revenge.
“You should have just handed me over. All of you are at risk as long as you’re with me. I’ve got a death sentence anyway.”
“I made you a promise, Leigh. I’m not handing you over to be executed.”
“Nick, for Jirak’s sake- You can’t just not do your job. I know you. But even if you wanted to, it’s a little trickier now that we’ve got that weirdo MTF agent travelling with us.”
“I’m going to figure something out. This - sending innocent people to be, well - this isn’t why I became a cop.”
Leigh didn’t want to argue anymore. She leaned back against the car. Nick looked at her tenderly again. “Hey, Leigh, I meant to tell you earlier: happy birthday.”
She laughed drily. “Shit, I nearly forgot. Don’t tell me this is all leading up to another surprise party.”
Whether from exhaustion or adrenaline or just surprise, Nick let out a hearty laugh.
The elf called over to them and, carefully, they helped Daryl into the car driven by Argyle. Nick, Leigh, and Kandomere headed for the MTF vehicle. They hoped for an uneventful night at the safe house.

Jealous kandomere is a good kandomere 😍
I would very much like to see a kandomere smut fic. Not too sure about any particulars but definitely steamy, maybe him acting on something he didn’t know he could feel; jealousy. Certainly would add to the already intoxicating feel he gives.
Indelibly- Kandomere x You Smut
Here it is! Sorry it took so long!
