Robert: You know what I just realized? Jane: That some of your thoughts are better left unsaid? Robert: Nice try, anyway-

I’m tired rn so some of this might not be articulated super clearly, but I want to see Robert and Magnus interact. 

Magnus would despise Robert- who does he think he is, coming here and trying to manipulate the people Magnus already has in the palm of his hand? 

Robert is such a wild card, it’s a little hard to predict how he would respond, but I feel he would try to manipulate Magnus right back, until they’re both entangled in a terrible web of worsening manipulation until something explodes, either figuratively or literally.

Been thinking about Robert, and I think one of the many reasons that Robert just doesn’t work is that he’s trying to fill a role in Jane’s life that doesn’t need filling. An enemy/rival bad boy with romantic tension? Gunther’s been there for years. A man with important knowledge? Sir Theodore’s got that mostly covered. A manipulator? While, as far I can remember, Magnus rarely manipulates Jane directly, but he still has a monopoly on the castle and can negatively influence the people around her. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch for him to suddenly start pulling some strings to get *directly* into Jane's head. So yeah, I’m not sure what Robert’s supposed to do when almost any role he could fill has already been filled for years

Part of me wants a Robert POV in Dragonblade, but another part of me knows that it would be literal agony to read and would make me want to throw things

Jane: *minding her business in a cave*

Robert, jumping out of the shadows: HEY LITTLE GIRL, you look so nice-!

Dragonblade AU where there are secret tunnels leading from the mountain to the castle because of The Wilderness Years or whatever, and that’s how Robert gets into the castle instead of manipulating Jane into taking him. 

He knocks her out, or runs away when she gets woozy due to the sword magic, then she has to chase him through the tunnels in a frenzy, only to emerge in the castle and find that he’s already broken in and fought everyone, knocking the guards out as he searches for information about the Scholar King’s book of dragons. By the time she and Jester are about to catch him, he’s already slipping back into the tunnels with a sinister smile as he goes to find the book. Bonus points if he purposefully collapses part of the tunnel behind him to prevent them from catching up too quickly.

Okay but literally what was the point of making Robert 24?? Like, it could be because he needs to remember his father who died when he was 12, but...if the father’s death date was adjusted and Robert was 16-18 like the rest of the cast, then he would remember his father even more vividly? 

Fixing Robert’s age would not have been that hard?

Robert: I thought *I* was your arch nemesis?

Jane: I have a life outside of you, Robert.
