having watched betty finding out the truth five different times fm different versions and skim watching them at different times, it's interesting to see the acting\directing styles.

you can tell when there's appreciation for the original work and when there's apprehension.

'jassi jaissi koi nahin' (india) uses the same dramatic music ysblf used. or it uses some cues but in a different note. 'not born beautiful' (russia) is, to this day, the most faithful adaptation. there's appreciation in accepting the story as is and not making any outrageous changes. 'yo soy bea' (spain) makes a lot of changes but those changes come from the production's knowledge that they're not gonna be as iconic as the original--they know they're not gonna hit the same marks. So a lot of the narrative decisions come down to doing the opposite of what the original did. It's apprehensive in that way, but they commit to those narrative choices and you accept it as an audience member.

the mexican adaptation is rebellious. it's wants to be a comedy. it wants to be dramatic. there is no rhyme or reason to its editing. it wants so badly to one up the original it's based on, not understanding that the original was made with a lot personal touches. the other adaptations mentioned above all have personal touches that ground its audience and you believe everything that's happening.

i could go on forever about overall directing styles of the same thing, but i really want to talk about is The Scene--Betty Finds Out The Truth.

in ysblf, Betty takes her time reading the letter and reacting to it. from a slight happiness bc she sees the gifts and that gradual change as she's reading the letter and you see her entire world fall apart. but it happens slowly. there's an incredulousness to it bc she's been living out a dream and we audience have known the entire time that it was based on a lie. her tears are silent, she's in shock. we suffer with her bc we have to see her process it.

Katya (NBB) and Jassi (JJKN) have similar reactions despite editing styles of these programs being different. both go from ecstatic to slow dread. it takes them time to believe and process what's happening bc its supposed to be a shock to their system.

For Bea (YSB) its completely different bc she doesn't find out fm a letter and is therefore exempt from this, however it should be noted that she goes catatonic and becomes ill at the shock of it all.

Moving on, Lety (lfmb), tho the circumstances of how she finds out are...different (a psychic tells her to find the letter)--her reaction to it is too much, too soon. I'm not saying Angelica Vale is a bad actress bc she's not. But her acting choices plus the direction she received, is less about Lety the character and more selling Vale as a dramatic actress.

It feels like there's a secret motive to it.

Because why does Lety immediately believe the letter? And then starts crying like she's gonna die? There's no emotional build up. Even the staging of it feels unnatural. Lety goes from standing, sobbing to sitting on the floor in front of Fernando's desk to standing up again and going back the chair. All the while violently crying, shaking, yelling. And no one hears this?

It's sad, but we don't see Lety's world collapse the way we see it in other versions. It's like Lety already suspected it and the letter confirms it. She's been ready to cry and scream about it. And this is after the honeymoon filler with Fernando ends. She was happy that morning. The revelation should have confused her.

Not that this didn't pay off, Vale won an award for her work on this. But these creative choices, in hindsight, look like they're serving someone else and not the story you're trying to tell. TBH, a lot of the creative decisions that are made in Lfmb, often feel like Lety The Character, is the one being sacrificed. When it's supposed to be her story.

I know it seems like I'm getting on lfmb's case again, and I am, but it comes from a place of frustration bc every time I analyze something about it, I realize how self serving it is to the people involved in it's production and how the actual story they're adapting gets secondary importance.

There are great scenes in lfmb that hit, but they're overshadowed by everyone and everything else. Lety finding out the truth should have been about Lety, not Angelica Vale's ability to cry on cue.

This is a colourization I did of a Bollywood Actress named Surinder Kaur. She is often mistaken for a Punjabi folk singer of the same name. Even on Wikipedia the movies that the actress stars in are linked to the singer. 2 films Surinder Kaur, the actress starred in are 'Payal Ki Jhankaar' and 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin'.

This is a colourization I did of Chinese actress Xin Fengxia. She was also a Chinese Opera Performer, a writer and painter. Born in 1927 in Suzhou, China. She was married to Wu Zuguang who was outspoken against the government. They remained married despite pressure to divorce due to his anti-communist sentiments. They had 3 children together. Xin Fengxia was injured during the Cultural revolution and became disabled and could no longer preform onstage. She started painting with the guidance of famous painter Qi Baishi who was her godfather. Xin Fengxia died of a stroke in 1998.

TV Couple Maninee De and Mihir Mehra separated after 16 years of marriage

Television couple Maninee De and Mihir Mehra have separated after being together for 16 years. The couple has been living separately from quite some time.

Confirming the news of their separation, Maninee told Times of India, “Yes, it is true that Mihir and I have been living separately for six months. The reasons for our separation are too personal to be divulged. Also, I respect the sacredness and sanctity of our relationship. We gave it our best, but the outcome isn’t in our hands.”

The actress said that while many people had thought right at the beginning that this marriage won’t last, their love, care and compassion kept them together for 16 years. However, she says their relationship evolved and took them on different paths with time.

Maninee De and Mihir Mehra separated after 16 years

“Many people had given our marriage just three weeks, but it lasted 16 years. It means that we had a lot of love, care and compassion for each other. However, relationships and people evolve with time. In our case, we evolved at different paces and our paths diverged. I have an aesthetic way of looking at life. Maybe, we had a karmic debt and it lived out its course,” said Maninee.

Lastly, when asked if they are heading for divorce, Maninee said that she does not know about it now. ‘I don’t know and can’t say anything about it at this point. We haven’t spoken about it.’ the actress concluded.

Mihir starred as Dr Rahul in the popular TV serial Sanjivani. The two of them also participated as a couple in Nach Baliye Season 1.

Most of us could relate to the awkwardness Jassi had to deal with. It gave us that unique taste of high school angst that many of us miss dearly. With her chunky glasses, badly cut bangs, dull sense of style and metallic braces, it was no surprise that she was the target of mockery. Especially considering the fact that she worked in the fashion industry. The funny thing is that the actress who played Jassi was a far cry from her on-screen persona. Known for being bubbly, outgoing, over-enthusiastic and a general good luck charm, Mona Singh is the embodiment of the effervescent Punjabi girl. So let’s take a look at her life so far:

The Big Day Arrives

The actress has never been the kind who liked to air out her love life on cameras and has tried her best to stay tight-lipped about her marital plans and love life. When the young starlet was quizzed about her plans for marriage in an interview, she said “I always wanted to get married, but I am not dying to get married! My parents are happy to see me work and be independent. Marriage is not the only thing left to do in life. It is for those girls who are not working and are waiting to get married and whose parents think their daughter is a burden.” So when the actress’s plans to get married were announced, her fans were shocked, to say the least. Considering how hidden the actress has kept her relationship from the limelight, we don’t blame them.

Mona Singh and her fiancé Shyam are getting married on the 27th of December at a private wedding in Mumbai. If sources are to be believed, the guest list has been kept super private and only their close friends and family have been invited. Her wedding will be a tight-knit affair with a bunch of her industry companions, including her best friend Gaurav Gera, Rajesh Khera and Rakshanda Khan, to name a few. The actress recently hosted a fun bachelorette with her close gal pals in Goa. According to a friend, Mona doesn’t want to throw a massive bash or party on her big day and attract any media attention. Only those who are incredibly close to her have been welcomed to their wedding. A pre-wedding party is planned to be hosted on the 26th of December.

Before Mona met Shyam, she was involved with Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal. The couple dated on and off for a couple of years until they finally called it quits in 2014. Many fans believe it had to do with scheduling work conflicts and the fact that an allegedly doctored MMS video of Mona had been leaked to the media. According to reports, Mona herself found it suspicious that the alleged leak happened so close to the release of Vidyut’s movie. A source close to the couple, however, claimed that the split had nothing to do with the MMS scandal but that the relationship had taken a rocky turn a few months ago. According to the source, marriage was not on the cards for either of the two and the split was amicable. The pair continues to be friends.

Before Vidyut and her current fiance, the actress was involved with her Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi co-actor, Karan Oberoi. When quizzed about why the pair broke up, Karan claimed that while he wanted to tie the knot with Mona, she did not want to settle down. According to the actress herself, the pair only dated for 18 months in the six years that they knew each other. Mona and Karan are now neighbors and are on cordial terms but don’t keep in touch much. Recently, Karan was falsely accused of raping a female astrologist, and when he was asked if Mona reached out to him, he claimed he had not bothered reading any of the messages on his phone.

On the work front, Mona Singh had been featured in movies like Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots alongside Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The Kavach actress is planning on rejoining her 3 Idiots co-stars Aamir and Kareena in Advait Chandan’s hugely anticipated film Laal Singh Chadha. The movie is scheduled to be released on Christmas one year from now.

For her wedding, Mona decked up in a red lehenga and a huge mangtika along with kaleere and other bridal jewellery while the groom wore a golden sherwani.

This is Shyam’s second marriage and he also has a 10-year-old child from his previous marraige. Mona and Shyam has been in a relationship since a year.

It’s time to send congratulatory messages to television actress Mona Singh as the actress ties the knot with her South Indian Investment Banker boyfriend Shyam.

The actor kept her wedding ceremony a low-key affair with only close friends and family in attendance. From the TV industry, Gaurav Gera, Rajesh Khera, Ashish Kapoor and Rakshanda Khan made it to the festivities.

For her wedding, Mona decked up in a red lehenga and a huge mangtika along with kaleere and other bridal jewellery while the groom wore a yellow sherwani.
