Elucien, Jassa, get on it stat. We didn't hear about this couch for nothing.

Lucien reached out and ran his fingers through the ends of Tamlin’s damp, silky strands. He wanted to say something, to express how he felt. He opened his mouth to say: I love you, but he hesitated. It had only been two days, and they had only made love once—well, twice, if he counted the shower—and he didn’t want to scare Tamlin off yet. Or ever. So, instead, he murmured it in Scythian. I love you. I think I always have. Stay with me.

For Day 4 of Tamlin Week: Happily Ever After. An edit for the AMAZING fic A Second Chance by @goforth-ladymidnight! I love both Tamlin/Lucien AND Jurian/Vassa in that fic, and had to make something to celebrate Tamlin and Lucien finally getting together! The fic isn't done yet BUT I have been assured that they will get their happily ever after!

This will be my first Elucien Week @elucienweekofficial and I wanted to make a little preview post to share the one-shots I have planned for next week. If anyone wants to be added to a tag list for these fics, just let me know either by replying to the post or messaging me!

Day 1: Fated

Lucien: Sometimes I wish I could forget the things I’ve heard here.

Jurian: The ring did catch my eye, didn’t it?

Lucien: …

This is a burner account that I created so I am not affiliated with any ship. As such, it is possible that the results may not be representative if not a lot of people see this poll. In anticipation of that, I am opening this poll for one week so that hopefully more people can see it.

I wanted to include all the prominent ships and I apologize that for the second option (Elriel/Vassien), I really could not think of any other ships that characters Gwyn and Jurian are involved in, besides their predominant ships of Gwynriel and Jassa respectively, to make both sides equal in number. I am aware that Jassa has another ship name (Vassian), but I thought it was too similar to Vassien and might confuse people reading this, which was why I picked Jassa over Vassian. The order of which side of the ship war would be placed as the first and second option was decided by a coin toss, which is also the order of the ship tags' appearance in this post. Within each option, the order of ships was determined alphabetically.

This poll is conducted out of curiosity. I am aware that it cannot possibly encapsulate everybody's opinions in the fandom as not everyone uses Tumblr.

There is something about Vassa that Elain does not like. We see it at times in ACOWAR and ACOSAF.

In ACOWAR: She studied her lap when Lucien talked about going to find her, eyed him warily when he insisted on going, and finally, her face became a calm void as she absentmindedly traced the embroidery. She tried to stop him the next day.

I think this was the most action Elain has taken before he left, and I think it's significant in understanding what she saw that makes her apprehensive, a feeling that continues even in ACOSAF.

In ACOSAF: When Lucien visited to drop off the presents, Elain stayed for the conversation until Lucien started talking about Jurian and Vassa. Lucien frowned at her, then winced at Feyre and commented it wasn't solstice talk. That's when Elain stood up to leave the room.

This also makes me hesitant about a Vassien end-game because none of her reactions are ones of relief that Lucien has interest in someone else. She was relieved when Lucien said he was not staying, then left when he brought Jassa up and stayed out when Lucien talked about moving in with Jassa.

In ACOSF, Lucien seems to have a change of perception about being with Jassa from ACOSAF. The annoyance and honesty from when Nesta asked him how they were, as opposed to the excitement from the year before. I'm not sure if they followed him to the Spring Court or if he drops by during the week. SJM wasn't exactly clear with his living situation.

Lucien has always shown to help out as much as he can, but it doesn't always pan out. He couldn't find a way to break Rhys's bargain with Feyre. He couldn't find a way to repair or strengthen the wall. He may have the best motivation to free Vassa, but it doesn't make sense to wait for how many years to see if his spell-cleaving can break her curse. He specifically brought her to Feyre, and it was Vassa who made the request (demand lol) to Feyre.

Lucien also has the habit of following Elain's lead. It would be a sweet moment that when it comes down to it, Lucien will always pick Elain, will always put her above anything, so if Elain speaks up against his being involved, he will follow.

Of course, this could be another situation like Feyre misunderstanding Mor's role in the beginning of ACOMAF or being jealous over Cresseida, so we might end up seeing a jealous Elain. The bond does make them territorial, and we've seen Lucien display those traits towards Azriel, so maybe Elain is experiencing the same towards Vassa.

I’d never seen such spell work. I’d sent my power over her, Helion too, hunting for any possible threads to unbind it. I found none. It was as if the curse was woven into her very blood.

I believe this may be some sort of oath Vassa was forced to undertake because we have seen two blood oaths in other series: the cadre in ToG and the blood oath Tharion took when he swore himself to the Viper Queen. We've seen SJM take similar ideas and change their purpose in different worlds. In ToG, shadows are seen as powers of the "bad guys" but are different in CC and ACOTAR.

And maybe the answer to break her curse is through Koshei's death or from one of the maidens he has captured.

Or perhaps it may be found in another world.

Beyond the Plains of Scythia

I was so honored and lucky to win this commission for @jassaweek! it was such a privilege to get to work with xo.hkka to create this masterpiece. She is such a kind and wonderful person and an incredible artist.

Jurian and Vassa have defeated Koschei, broken the curse, and now have the whole world ahead of them.

For my own fics, I took a lot of inspiration from the golden age of Mongolia, which you can see here in Vassa's outfit and the vast plains of Scythia. Thank you to Hikka and @jassaweek!

Vassa felt the last vestiges of sunlight hit her face, relishing in the warmth and the stillness of her body. Never again would she take for granted the golden hour of sunset. With the horses far behind her, she looked out into the sea of grass. Hills rolled softly as sea waves and the fire in the sky stretched on forever. That fire reflected upon her hair, but it no longer burned her alive, no longer shredded her body. The trek from the lake and the surrounding forests took too long. Vassa felt suffocated by the trees as they crossed through mountains and gorges, past the fallen wall. But she held her head high as she led her army back across the border and into Scythia. 

Her mother had told her of the ancestors defeating the Fae armies as a child. How they raised the capital from a slave pit. Vassa’s ancestors rode wild horses to freedom on these hills, and Vassa swore she could hear the horde of nomads in the wind as she rode. She was free again, free from her curse, and the chains of the death god. She spoke her own language again, her Scythian tunic felt like armor against her chest, and Vassa felt like she could breathe again. 

Calloused fingers threaded through hers, tugging her close with the wind. 

“When you told me you called it seagrass, you really meant it,” Jurian said, “What was the word again? In Scythian.”

“Tanaap,” Vassa replied, “It’s the word for steppe, not sea.” She smiled as she watched the light dance along the angles of his face. He stood as tall as a king, but he refused that title. They had been arguing about it for days, and Jurian had convinced her army that he would only be her consort. No doubt he’d convince the entire capital and court within days of their arrival. 

He had not left her side the entire journey. He held her through her night terrors, helped her breathe when she felt like the forest would suffocate her, and he cried with her as they crossed the border. Jurian gasped the first time he saw the steppe, and Vassa could not bring herself to think of the walls he had suffered behind for so long.

“I can see why the humans settled here.” he murmured, his face softening, “Possibility without the fear of eternity. No wall could ever stand here.” 

“And no wall ever will,” Vassa promised, pulling him close. 

Jurian was quiet for a moment as the sun slunk behind the hills, and the sky began to bleed purple. Behind them, the stirrings of camp and the whinny of horses broke the silence. 

“If-” Jurian began, taking a deep breath, “Will your people accept me? After everything I’ve done?” He turned toward her then, his brown eyes filled with worry. 

“You mean, after saving me and leading my army to free me? After killing a death god and stopping Beron Vanserra and the queens?” Vassa cupped his face gently, “They will, they have. After everything you’ve done, you can come home and rest. With me.” She pulled him down, capturing his lips with a sigh. Vassa kissed her General as the sun set, feeling only his lips and his arms wrapped around her. She felt her heart flutter against her chest, but she could not feel her bones breaking with transformation, could not feel the lashing of flames on her back. Vassa only felt the future, now stretched before them like the sea of grass they stood on. 

“Take me home, my queen.”

There is apparently 'Jassa Week' but Elriels are the crazy ones shipping Elriel (who are platonic brother and sister/friends).
