Today's Vibes: just noodling around with old drafts
Human Alice moving in with her father and old bitch of a grandmother in Forks, into a moldy old house.
Her grandmother just sits around being a cow, and her father divides his time between running the hardware store in town and making critical repairs to the house - it's falling apart.
Weird shit is happening - she's seeing a boy in the mirror, waking up to terrible nightmares, sleep walking and generally getting disoriented and confused. She's always so cold. The food is always rotting. Then one of the girls from school is found half-dead in the woods behind the house, and Alice has no memory of how she got out there to help the girl. She definitely heard someone laughing.
Alice has a bit of a breakdown and vents to the person she sits next to in English - Edward Cullen. She's going insane, why are there wolves so close to the house? Why does she keep seeing the same boy? She's so clumsy at the moment, she keeps cutting herself. Who the hell attacked the girl in the woods? It doesn't matter how many sweaters she wears, she's always icy cold
Edward's really nice to her and suggests she goes to the nurse. By the end of the week, Alice's father is peeling back wallpaper to find black mold in the hallway outside Alice's bedroom, and she has to sleep on the couch whilst it's treated; apparently it's been a real problem in Forks since fall. Alice wakes up to someone standing over her and the sound of breaking glass; but she convinces herself she was dreaming.
The next night she dreams of the boy in the mirror telling her its time to come and find him, and Alice asks if he'll save her from whatever is going on? The boy says that it might be the other way around.
It takes Alice a few days to identify the places her dreams are showing her, and she ends up at the Cullens house - none of whom are happy to see her there, and try to get her to leave.
And then the one thing that none of the Cullens expected happens - Jasper appears. After joining them ten years ago, Jasper never really leaves the house. Wanted by the Volturi and by the Southern Warlords, completely depressed and traumatized, Jasper ventures out once a month to hunt with the family, convinced total control over his thirst involves partially starving himself.
(And yes, in this verse, the Cullen house is remote enough that the family can stay much longer in an area, but they can only move about publicly for 4-5 years.)
Jasper just stares at Alice for a while before retreating again and Alice realises that the reason she's been so insanely cold since she arrived is because it's part of her vision. All her horrors are part of her visions. The Cullens have questions but Alice just leaves, confused and worried.
And when Alice looks in the mirror that night, she doesn't see Jasper. She sees herself with red eyes.
