Random Batfam Headcanon's #11:
Jason ends up running into old highschool classmates once he's back in Gotham as Red Hood, and they're happy he's back, but they're upset with him. Not for anything he did before he left, it was the fact that he was the Drama Clubs star actor of their next play (it was the Lightning Thief Musical) and he disappeared and died a week before opening night.

Gotham Knights: The Batman Family
Nightwing: Lost and looking for answers following the death of his parents, young Dick Grayson came under the care of Bruce Wayne. The boy's curiosity and determination led him to find Batman and become the first Robin. Over time, Dick wanted to fight crime differently from Batman. He left Gotham for Blüdhaven to do just that. As Nightwing, his Escrima sticks and impressive style didn't just instill fear in criminals - they inspired hope in the people Nightwing lives to protect. Robin: Inexperienced, with incredible potential, young Tim Drake convinced Alfred Pennyworth and Dick Grayson to bring him into the fold as the new Robin. He'd already uncovered the identities of Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing. He knew he could help them. With training he's become an undetectable master of stealth, with a razor intellect that can crack cases even the Batman can't. The boy wonder is everything Robin was meant to be. At only 16, he's just getting started.
Batgirl: Barbara Gordon was self-trained and only 16 when she started fighting crime as Batgirl. Her ongoing studies in criminology and computer science made her a brilliant detective. When a spinal injury threatened to end her crime-fighting career, Barbara retired as Batgirl and became the information expert Oracle. With therapy and surgery, she eventually recovered. Strengthened by Oracle, as well as Barbara's unbreakable determination to protect Gotham, Batgirl returned. Red Hood: Jason Todd trained to become the second Robin after Batman caught him stealing tires from the Batmobile. Crime fighting gave the reckless boy purpose, and a meaningful outlet for his anger, until Batman failed. Jason was murdered. Two years later, resurrection brought Jason back as a killer called Red Hood. With the Batman Family's help, therapy & rehabilitation, Jason repented his extreme methods. Now Red Hood uses his pistols to put Gotham's criminals behind bars, rather than in the ground.
Bruce Wayne: If you ask the media, Bruce Wayne is a philanthropist, philanderer, or some combination of both. But if you ask me, Bruce is… an uncompromising friend and father. Someone who keeps his distance, protects his secrets, and is a total battle ax of a boss. And always, he's a man with a strong moral compass who would do anything to keep Gotham City safe, no matter the cost to himself. Bruce Wayne is everything Gotham City aspires to be. Also, he's Batman. P.S. And he's a terrible cook, constantly mixes up his black and blue socks, and strongly prefers not to be called "Brucie." [And if Batman wanted a completely serious biography, he should have written it himself.] - D.G. Only you. - B.W. Alfred: Steward of the Wayne family, Alfred Pennyworth is more than a butler - he's a generous mentor, a caring friend, and a reliable ally. Though he operates behind the scenes, Alfred is vital to the safety of Gotham City - and her protectors. Without his combat medical training and level-headed wisdom, Batman and others may not have lived to fight another night. Plus, he's an underappreciated actor. Honestly, he is phenomenal on stage.

365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
September 23rd - Red Hood
A couple of different individuals have operated under the guise of The Red Hood. The most prominent of whom has been the anti-hero/vigilante, Jason Todd. Jason’s early origins have been significantly retconned over the years, but the central tale is that he was a street-smart orphan who grew up on the mean streets of Gotham City.
One night The Batman discovered the youth attempting to steal the tires off of the Batmobile. Batman was impressed by the youngster’s fearlessness and moxie. Dick Grayson had recently left Gotham to focus more exclusively on leading the Teen Titans and Jason ended up being brought in to act as the new Robin, Batman’s partner and sidekick in his battle against crime.
Jason proved an sufficient Robin, although his temper and impulsiveness often led him into trouble. He came to discover that his mother, whom he believed was dead, was still alive and in trouble with an international crime syndicate. Throwing caution aside, Jason went off to try to save his mother without Batman’s aide. The mission went terribly awry, leading to both Jason and his mother being brutally murdered by The Joker.
Jason remained dead for several years until he was mysteriously revived due to Superboy Prime’s attack on the fabric of hypertime. Jason was able to more fulsomely recover when Talia al Ghul submerged him in the restorative waters of a Lazarus Pit. Talia had hopped to use Jason as a weapon to exert influence over Batman, but Jason would ultimately devise an agenda of his own.
Donning the guise of The Red Hood, Jason returned to Gotham and waged a deadly war on the city’s villains. He beat The Joker neatly to death and systematically brought down The Black Mask’s criminal empire. It all culminated with a confrontation with Batman where Jason finally revealed his true identity (much to the shock of his former partner). It initially appeared as though Jason perished in the ensuing showdown, but he later resurfaced to bedevil both Tim Drake (Robin) and Dick Grayson (Nightwing), all as a part of an effort to prove that his more deadly method of crimefighting was the superior approach.
Jason and Batman were ultimately able to put their differences aside and Jason assisted Batman by disguising himself as Wingman so to infiltrate the ranks of the criminal organization known as Leviathan.
Following the Nu52 reboot, Jason has resumed his identity as The Red Hood and created a group of proactive vigilantes known as The Outlaws. Although the ranks of the Outlaws have changed over the years, Jason’s central mission has remained the same as he has continued his efforts to prove that he can be a better crimefighter than Batman by utilizing a more aggressive approach.
Actor Curran Walters has portrayed Jason Todd in the television series Titans. The character first appeared in the pages of Batman #357 (1983).

Hi, thanks for writing so many things I like. What's your favorite part of writing? What's your favorite aspects of any ship of your choosing? What's your favorite aspect of your current favored media (i.e show, movie, music, book, etc). Feel free to use this ask as an excuse to ramble about anything you want to that makes you happy! I hope you have a good upcoming holiday.
Hello,
So, you asked a lot of questions and I'll try to answer them as best as I can.
My favorite part of writing is actually writing. There is no one aspect of it I prefer, I just enjoy the simplicity of sitting down and spreading out my thoughts in a manner that's organized. I always have three or four stories going on like a movie in my head, so it just feels good to have a method to organize what's going on. Whether it's a fanfiction or original fiction (which I haven't written for a long ass time because of lack of stimuli until recently), so it's just nice to spread it out. I think 3 dimensionally, so I like having methods to spread out my thoughts; whether I'm building something, mapping something, or working around, translating what's in my head to something others understand or see or read, it's pleasant. Makes me feel sane, which sounds crazy, but there's a lot in my head so having methods to organize it makes me feel sane. My head is not a web browser with three tabs not working and mystery music playing somewhere. I also really like creating characters, building worlds, building different ways of thinking, different views of the world, looking to see how different experiences shape people in different capacities, that's always fun. Constructing these characters, scenarios, worlds, it's fun, it's also grounding for me.
I like different ships for different reasons. I don't have a one ship type fits all for my ships. I like Jason Todd x Raven because opposites in mannerisms, and on paper it shouldn't work, but there's a point where their personalities are complimentary and their interests overlap just enough that I think it'd work. I like Kolvina because they're cunning, smart, and actually do the enemies to partners to friends to lover trope well. I like Dramione because I think they'd be a powerhouse team up, and their opposites in almost every aspect; however they do share similar qualities which makes me think they'd work out. Mostly, if I look at the ships I like, regardless of trope, or dynamics, or personalities, I like ships which are partnerships. If you're going to be in a relationship you should have a partner, not a yes man/woman, and I like ships that reflect that. I like pairings where they are partners, and they can cover where the other is weak or they can be vulnerable with each other. I don't like pairings that can't do that, or can't work together, if they're always fighting or always at each other's throat, it's just not appealing to me; you're supposed to be a partnership not at war with your partner. Also, if you're partners, regardless of powers and abilities, you should be equals in a relationship; so I really like partnership ships.
I like good stories, if a form of media can create and carry through on a good story it has my attention. Lately movies, shows and music have not have a that ability, so it hasn't been fun or enjoyable to me. Which I know sounds bad, but I just don't think people have a lot of steady creativity lately. I mean, my favorite shows aren't really big Hollywood influenced shows (Bosch, Jack Ryan, Jack Reacher, Yellowstone, Terminal List; these shows are great because writers are left alone to write and they create solid stories, with interesting characters, and the actors deliver, in my opinion) or they're older shows that have completed already (Law & Order: CI, Originals, Supernatural, The Punisher); bad writing or story telling can just destroy a show or film with ease and Hollywood has gotten extremely lazy as of late and a lot of what they've been producing is shoddy (Legacies, Riverdale, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order SVU; the writing in the last two is just a byproduct of banking on success, and long time viewers, but a lot of the writing is getting shoddy in my opinion). I read a lot of different books but again, I'm reliant and interested in good stories which has me having a variety of books and stories from different eras, so I don't feel as reliant on staying up on modern events where books are concerned. As to music, I listen to everything; world music, old school, new school, diverse genres; music aligns with what I'm writing or my mood, so it varies.
I hope that answers your questions, and if you have others feel free to ask. I'm not really going to ramble about anything else, so I hope that helps, and this answers your questions.

bird primary (system in progress) + burnt badger secondary (really loud bird model)
Howdy! I’m still trying to figure out my own houses and was wondering if you could provide some insight. I haven’t exactly mastered the system so I don’t know how accurate/inaccurate my claims are, so bear with me.
The “why”/Primary: I am extremely motivated by knowledge. I want to know things, not just out of intrinsic curiosity (though that does play a role), but because knowing why things work helps me protect myself more effectively.
One of the trickiest things about this system is separating motivation from method. Because yeah, they are related, but they're also really different. Like this example: "I protect myself by learning things." That's a how, that's secondary stuff. (Bird secondary of course.)
A recent example is this— a group of my former friends all ditched me because I discussed a heavily stigmatized mental disorder that I show symptoms of. And my first response (other than bawling) was to ask them why. And when I got the answer, I was hurt, but I understood. I don’t say this for you to show me pity, but rather because it illustrates this model in action.
This is a really interesting example. Your friends acted in a way that emotionally hurt you. First you processed your feelings (which you talk about in a dismissive, lighthearted, jokey way) then you asked them for more information... which hurt you, but also made you more secure. This is very Bird primary. You feel feelings, but they're whatever. What actually bothers you is not having the data.
(I suspect you're going to end up being a Double Bird. And Double Birds are unique in that their morality and problem-solving are SO interconnected, that they think I'm crazy for saying that for most people, they are in fact two very different things.)
When I got the why and processed my emotions, I cut off ties and realized that their severe judgy-ness had hindered my life for 2 years. And now that I know the “why”, I won’t bring up said disorder again until I know it’s safe. It might never be, but I still have hope.
You updated your system, and you cut away the parts that aren't serving you anymore. Bird primary.
Morally-speaking, I am very sensitive to the views of others around me.
External primary.
I’m not proud of this. In fact, it’s a detriment.
A lot of Birds feel this way. It's a big part of why they tend to like Lion primaries. Lions are much more able to dismiss things with "sounds like that's a them problem."
I won’t go into details, but my parents are… bad. Not wholly, but they are bad. I’ve tried for years, and still do, to escape their opinions because I know it’ll influence mine.
Parents are sticky. They do that. I've been a happily UnBurnt Lion primary for a while now... but I still sometimes hear that voice in my head that sounds like my mother.
And, much like them, I tend to get over-passionate in what I stand for. Unlike them, I’m willing to change if evidence supports this change. I always, however, carry the burden of my former hatred. I always feel guilt over my old beliefs. Even if I’ve changed, the pain I’ve done can never be reversed. And this guilt eats me alive, this shame of being fundamentally wrong.
Okay. You got really emotional on me really quickly here. This could mean a couple things. Your parents sound like fairly toxic Idealists, either Exploded Lions or Exploded Birds (I'm sort of leaning Lion due to the more emotion-heavy words like "passion" and "hatred.") Birds can feel bad, feel guilt, feel shame when looking back at an older version of themselves that they now consider morally repugnant. (Birds are human.) Idealists struggle with the angst of worrying that they are fundamentally wrong about the world. So you could be a guilty Bird, especially if your emotions feel wrong or unhelpful somehow. But you could also be a very Burnt Lion modeling Bird - because Bird seems safer, and you don't want to be a Lion the way your parents are.
When the friend-event happened, I thought that I was in the wrong, and that I had once again fucked myself over because of my passion and sureness in what I have.
"I thought I was wrong because I was acting like an Exploded Lion primary." Yeah, I'm thinking there's some sort of outside influence here that needs to be unpacked.
It took a lot of convincing and evidence for me to see that they were the assholes (albeit I wasn’t pure either— I was their friend, after all).
I'm definitely leaning Bird for you. A bird surrounded by Lions maybe, who sometimes uses Lion terminology. But Bird.
I am a planner and system-lover at heart. I’m not proud of it, but it’s just part of me.
What's with all this negative language? Being a planner and a system-lover is a wonderful thing to be. There's some Burning here.
The caveat— I have autism, so I’m not sure if it’s due to that or not. Hence the shortness of this section. Take it as you will, regardless of if it’s evidence or not.
I have autism and I'm a Lion Badger. People are different. The only real pattern I've observed is the way nerodivergent people disproportionately build Bird secondaries as coping strategies.
Honesty is maybe not the best policy, it’s still an admirable one. I wish, frankly, that my moral system was more honest. I feel like I have no set morals. That it all comes from elsewhere. Lion primaries have this set, intrinsic morality that I envy. My friend is a lion primary, and while my views have radically changed, hers haven’t inched. She’s always been honest about herself and what she holds true.
I'm doubling down on Bird primary for you. This is the perspective of a Bird looking in on a Lion. Lion morality isn't set or intrinsic - it's built, and it changes, but it builds and changes differently than a Bird's does (more slowly, usually). But there really is a pattern of Birds seeing it as more moral/easier/better.
And I’m still trying to figure out what “truth” means to me. I mean, yes, I’m a dry and blunt asshole, but that’s not really the same as gut morality. Internal honesty is what I want, and external honesty is what I have to some extent.
It sounds that you are going though a lot of very intense shifts in your life right now. You've got a diagnosis that has you questioning your place in the world. You've followed your parent's system all you life, and are now deciding that you don't want that. But now comes deciding what you do want, and that's a lot harder (especially for a Bird, who has to build it from the ground up.) You like the way Lions do things, but Lion primaries do not feel accessible.
I’m very clear with who I like. I can admit their faults, and even get annoyed or angry at them, but not even betrayal can stop me from loving them. I’d compare myself to the Twelfth Doctor from “Doctor Who” and Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders in that regard.
So maybe you are building a system with very Snake values.
Loyalty is one of my weaknesses. I get overly-attached to people, and so if/when they leave me, it shatters my world. But my brand of loyalty is mostly to people, not philosophical ideas.
... but you're not *really* comfortable with Snake either, if you consider it to be a "weakness."
I would consider myself somewhat philosophical (well, as much as a fucking teenager can be)
Teenagers are *extremely* philosophical, stop being so down on yourself.
but I can be somewhat vague in my beliefs.
Because you're still building them, give yourself a *second.*
If I were to rate the likelihood of what primary I think I am, it’s something like this:
Bird: 9/10 probability (maybe burned)
Snake: 7/10 probability
Badger: 6/10 probability (maybe burned)
Lion: 2/10 probability
What is it with Birds and numbered lists?
The “how”: I feel like I change in order to fit in. I mean, to some extent, we all do, but it’s far more drastic for me. With the lion primary friend, I act as a “Jason Todd” to their Batman. I challenge them, egg them on, crack jokes and become violently passionate and act like a nerd, and she simply watches, usually adding her own comments but mostly sitting on the sidelines by choice. We also joke that I’m the Ferris Bueller to their Cameron Frye. But, with another friend, I’m a parent figure. I listen most of the time, and sometimes jump in with creative ideas and we talk for hours about it.
I'm guessing Actor Bird, both because you can specifically list out the qualities that you "act" out. And because you're invoking and basing your performance off specific [fictional] characters. Which is a HUGE Actor Bird thing.
I go with the flow of a given situation as best as I can (with the added caveat of being autistic, because that does affect how well I can read a room). However, that’s where the adaptation ends.
Huh. I'm hearing Burnt secondary language here. "I'd like to go with the flow and read the room - but I can't, because I'm autistic." You can definitely *learn* how to read a room. Why do you think I'm so interested in (and good at :) personality systems? This is how I learned to use my Courtier Badger. I used to model Bird secondary like crazy, and I kind of don't bother anymore. I don't need the training wheels.
Planning: like I stated before, I’m a planner. I try to learn the most about a situation before jumping in. Sometimes, however, I stall the inevitable and miss my chance, so I jump in and wind up nearly drowning. And this dichotomy repeats. I overcompensate for a lack of knowledge in a situation by micromanaging, or I wind up sitting bored when I’ve already done everything I need to do. And yes, stress and boredom are equally as destructive for me. I try so hard to plan to avoid both of these outcomes, but it only works half the time. So, I guess I’m a bit of a “planster” overall.
I want to learn about a situation... but sometimes I "stall" or "drown" (Burnt language.) But planning also leads to "micromanaging" and "getting bored" (model language.) I think you've got a really loud Bird secondary model... but there might be something else underneath.
Collecting things is fun. Postcards, candles, lighters, crystals, rocks, 1940s hats, knowledge, stories, music, (original) characters, the list goes on. I’m a collector of whatever I can get my hands on. Hell, by this point, I can’t tell what’s my special interest and what I just enjoy (again, autism).
Oh my goodness gracious 'my special interest' and 'what I enjoy' are not two different categories!
But my systems and collections are my coping.
Figured.
I can’t say, though, that they hold any weight outside of emotional release. There’s nothing practical about knowing how they shot The Outsiders movie, or how crows have a flat tail and ravens have two main sections on theirs. All of this knowledge almost feels useless to me. I mean, sure, I’m great at school, but what else? Nothing, it seems like. And being good at school and nothing else makes a person go crazy when they can’t achieve their academic goals. But that’s a bit besides the point— I’m a collector, but I’m unsure how well this really fits into a secondary beyond a model.
Bird secondary model.
I invest in others more than I care to admit.
Oh man, are you a Badger secondary like me?
I genuinely believe in the goodness in humans, no matter how impossible it becomes. Even those who I don’t see any good in aren’t wholly evil. My perception isn’t law.
^ That's primary stuff. Maybe a more Badger-flavored system is going to work better for you than a Snake-flavored one.
But some people trust me: with their secrets, with homework, with relationship issues, with their religious struggles. And I try to help. I might not be good with it, but I do try to help as best I can.
Kinda sounds like a Badger secondary.
I use my planning and my categorizing skills and my knowledge to benefit others. I show up, I do what I need to do, and I don’t usually expect much to come of it. It’s nice when something does, but it’s not expected. And sometimes, these investments into others' lives and grades and relationships do pay off. I make friends. Those friends stick by me, and I trust them. I continue to invest in others, because I am a lover even though I’m cynical.
I think you're a Badger secondary.
And when that trust is broken, like the example in the beginning, I go to people who won’t abandon me to get a second opinion. When I say that I love someone, I mean it. So it hurts when they leave. It always does.
Oh that's your friends leaving hit you so hard. It's not an abstract morality thing at all, it's practical. You're a Badger secondary, and they were your base of support.
I’ll be frank on this— I’m almost entirely sure that I’m not a lion secondary. I’m fiercely efficient and some people see me as a good leader, but that’s it.
Lion and Badger are the two Inspirational secondaries. They're the one who sort of manage to collect armies or families as a side effect of existing.
Even with the leader example, I prefer interpersonal relations or to be alone. I’m not a big fan of group settings.
That's fair. I am also a Badger who really, really likes my own company. Or small groups of interesting people.
If I were to rate the likelihood of what secondary I am, it’s like this:
Bird: 7/10 probability
Badger: 6/10 probability
Snake: 5/10 probability
Lion: 0/10 probability
Other systems for comparison: I’m aware that MBTI and enneagram are, at worst, pseudo-science, but I still enjoy them regardless. At best, they’re fun self-help tools, and that’s how I try to use them.
MBTI: INTJ (Ni-Te-Fi-Se)
Enneagram: 5w4, tritype 514
Sagittarius sun libra moon cancer rising in astrology
FLEV or LFEV in attitudinal psyche
sx/sp (sexual and self-preservation) in instinctual variants
MBTI, Enneagram, and astrology are all fun in their own ways. (I don't actually know the last two!) And I can talk about them on their own terms. But this system was the best, and the most useful, when I went looking for words to describe myself.
I hope this is enough information, and thank you again if you do happen to do this! If you don’t, that’s totally okay. Have a good day!
Thank you for writing in. That was a journey! Thanks @thesketchykid for the submission.

let fools do good ( chapters 1 - 3 of ? )
written for @jaydick-week
rating: m. pairings: dick grayson/jason todd. prompt: high school/college au. ↪ theatre au. ↪ black jason todd. warnings: shakespeare-typical racism. mentions of past domestic violence/child abuse.
summary. Gotham University’s Theatre Department is one of the finest on the east coast — barring the occasional nutjob who thinks ‘method acting’ is interchangeable with ‘straight-up harassment.’ Jason’s a PhD student, though, so the state of the arts acting-design-writing program doesn’t impress him. He’s here to put his head down and decolonize Shakespeare. But when the already tumultuous production of Titus Andronicus finds itself in need of an Aaron, Professor Bruce Wayne personally asks him to step in. Forced to juggle his thesis, dramaturgical work, feelings for MFA actor Dick Grayson, and stormy home life, Jason may just crack under the pressure.

Have you ever noticed that ( BRUCE WAYNE ) from the ( DC UNIVERSE ) looks a lot like ( DANIEL GILLES )? But ( HE ) also go/goes by ( BATMAN ). Having the ability to/of ( GENIUS-LEVEL INTELLECT, MASTER MARTIAL ARTIST, AND A VAST ARSENAL OF WEAPONRY AND EQUIPMENT ) sure makes them a force to be reckoned with. They’re known to be ( METHODICAL) but also ( SELF-DESTRUCTIVE ) and they’re ( 43 ) years old.
Basics:
character name: Bruce Wayne
age: 43
faceclaim: Daniel Gillies
skill set: Genius-Level Intellect, Master Martial Artist, And A Vast Arsenal Of Weaponry And Equipment
family: Trigon(Father) - Residing in Hell, Arella/Angela Roth(Mother) - Deceased, Monks of Azarath - Deceased, Titans - Found Family
zodiac: Sagittarius
wiki link: DCEU & Comics
Bruce’s Canon surrounds alot of the Comics version with some of the DCEU thrown in for connections sake.
Canon Background:
Bruce Wayne was born to wealthy physician Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha, who were themselves members of the prestigious Wayne and Kane families of Gotham City, respectively. When he was three, Bruce's mother Martha was expecting a second child to be named Thomas Wayne, Jr. However, because of her intent to found a school for the underprivileged in Gotham, she was targeted by the manipulative Court of Owls, who arranged for her to have a car accident. She and Bruce survived, but the accident forced Martha into premature labor, and the baby was lost. While on vacation to forget about these events, the Wayne Family butler, Jarvis Pennyworth was killed by one of the Court of Owls' Talons. A letter he'd written to his son Alfred, warning him away from the beleaguered Wayne family, was never delivered. As such, Alfred - who had been an actor at the Globe Theatre at the time and a military medic before that, traveled to Gotham City to take up his father's place, serving the Wayne's as butler.
As he grew older, his family's reputation made Bruce restless, and he began sneaking out of school to visit Gotham City, where he wouldn't be so easily recognized. On one such outing, when he was ten years old, he was picked up by Officer Jim Gordon and his partner on their patrol. En route back to the station, Bruce witnessed Jim accepting a trenchcoat as a bribe from a tailor — though neither realized it was a bribe at the time — but Bruce would remember it as an indicator of Jim's character.
After his parents picked Bruce up at the police station, the Wayne's went to see The Mark of Zorro at the Monarch Theater. When the Wayne's were walking home after the movie, a mugger named Joe Chill attempted to rob them at gunpoint, and panicked, shooting both Thomas and Martha dead.
Fast Forward to his greatest mistake and regret of his life the Death of Jason Todd. Batman caught orphan Jason Todd trying to steal prescription drugs from Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Believing that Todd had the potential to turn over a new leaf, Wayne offered him the vacant position of Robin and, when he accepted, trained him for months. However, soon after Jason had become active as a vigilante, he was lured into chasing a woman he believed to be his mother to the middle east - a setup by the Joker - and killed before Batman could save him.
After the death of Jason Todd, Bruce couldn’t hide his grief and anger, it didn’t take long to get joker behind bars once again, but it wasn’t good enough. How many people had this man destroy simply because he could? The more the minutes ticked by the more unstable Bruce become. It was time to break his own rule, he didn’t waste time getting into Arkham where the Joker sat smiling and laugh while Jason’s body lay cold in the ground. if not for Jim he was sure he would’ve beat the joker’s body into paste within that cell room. Batman finally put a permanent end to The Joker, a Life for a Life and he didn't care if it made the whole world blind.
Sokovia Accords:
Bruce outright refused to sign the Accords stating the last thing the Government needed was access to everyone’s powers and secret identities. He currently only takes up the mantle of Batman when things get dire, otherwise he can be found running Wayne Enterprises many adventures.
Wanted Connections:
Friends: Justice League, Justice League Dark
Allies: Titans, Justice League, Justice League Dark

jaytim Actors/Celebrity AU
Here I go with another plot idea I don’t know if I’ll get around to writing *sigh* I wish my fingers moved as fast as my brain did when it comes to plotting out stories...
Anyhow, so here it is:
Actors AU
Jason Todd is a well-known actor who grew up poor in Crime Alley; when they reopened the theater when he was a teen he got a part-time job there, sweeping floors, working the box office, all the crummy shifts and such; could never afford acting school, but the theater had a community class like once every two weeks or something;
from observing the actors and plays, and just generally hanging around a lot he manages to work his way up/get opportunities to get on stage; he eventually secures a scholarship to go to the UK and study acting classically; over the years he develops his own signature acting style, which is largely based on improvisation; he has his own way of doing things, can be hard to work with, but has some kind of luck that just makes everything he is a part out turn out amazing/talk of the town;
when he’s in his teens he lands a part in a hit drama that suddenly catapults him to fame—although he remains notoriously picky about what parts he plays and is more interested in the art than the fame side of things; he’s a very private person, has on occasion punched paparazzi for following him and his boyfriend/girlfriend of the time around, donates the majority of his money to children’s charities and such, etc.
Tim Drake is the son and adopted son of silver-screen royalty; his parents were both actors who became well-known producer / talk-show hosts; kind of larger than life figures and he always felt overwhelmed around them; as a kid he expressed interest in being an actor when he grew up, but got a condescending “oh, but you’re so smart, you could do anything else” sort of answer and never really brought it up again because clearly his parents didn’t think he could do it (had made self esteem issues, yeah?);
anyway, he grew up neighbors to the Wayne Family, family of a long line of actors, and the latest heir to that name Bruce is also a bit of a scandalous figure because he adopts children like crazy (basically he’s Angelina jolie); so Tim grew up neighbors and friends with Dick, Cass, Steph, Damian and Duke, all of whom are celebrities in their own right (maybe not necessarily actors, but definitely well-known);
and he’s a secret theater fanboy, watches all the classics, knows all the lines to things, pretends to be his favorite actors—especially a certain Jason Todd who he idolized from the first moment he breaks out with that drama role and follows his career obsessively, just basically either wants to be him or be with him.
when Tim’s parents died in a plane crash, Bruce was named guardian of him so Tim goes to live with him; And the Waynes are all super supportive of him; Timmy wants to be an actor? Then by god he’ll be an actor; they’ll find him an agent and help him get shows and everything; they don’t even care if he’s good or not, if he wants to do it, they’re supportive
And at first the only thing he manages to get booked for is Teen heartthrob roles and voice acting; and most people say it’s just because who his parents are, and he never really gets a chance to show his talent, but it’s a foot in the door
Until he lands a role in a major action flick; (I dunno, something like Maze Runner or Hunger Games or something) and it turns out he’s actually a good actor; like an amazing method actor (and also not too hard to look at); thus begins his career—at the same time that Jason Todd is majorly injured (stunt action scene gone wrong, he ends up in rehab for 18 months recovering, people start to think he’s dead or whatever)
By the time Jason comes back to the world of acting, he decides to go back to his roots on stage; maybe something on Broadway; he’s all set up to take on a new role, only to hear that he’s lost out to a certain Tim Drake (whose only dream has been to follow in his idol’s footsteps and do stage acting in a certain show at least once), but hey, the role opposite is free if you want it?
Jason is rather resentful of being replaced by some kid that he only knows is a Disney channel staple because Roy’s daughter Lian watches that stuff religiously; he doesn’t intend to cut him any slack, because in his view, you have to work your way up and earn your privilege on certain stages and he doesn’t think Tim’s managed that.
They meet. Jason’s defensive and a jerk to Tim; Tim is heartbroken that his idol doesn’t like him.
Cue weeks/months of tension and rivalry; Jason grudgingly admitting that Tim actually has some talent; Tim getting to know the side of Jason that the public never get to see; slowly, they start to work together and get closer…which is, of course, when Tim’s adopted family starts putting in appearances and making things hella complicated. And of course there’s the press, who Tim has gotten so used to being followed around by and in his life, but Jason’s having a hard time of it because he’s always done his best to keep private. And the press keep showing them together, always talking “Bromance”, and Jason is way irritated about this…and then he begins to realize he’s more irritated about the fact that it’s just a bromance because he’s started to realize he and Tim have a connection deeper than that
They end up embarking on a relationship (after a lot of false starts, mutual pining, Wayne shenanigans, etc.). And it’s really, really good.
Except Tim’s agents and reps are on his back to keep the relationship under wraps, because a large part of his image as teen heartthrob / Hollywood hunk is based on the fact of him being straight and they’re worried he’ll lose out on opportunities and such if it comes out that he’s in a relationship with a guy; which tim thinks is bullshit, but he’s signed on to a really important role just now and the guy in charge is huge homophobe and has been known to make the lives of people he doesn’t like miserable to the point where they quit…and breaking a contract with him is practically a “You’ll Never Work In This Town Again” sentence. So Tim and Jason agree to keep things under wraps for a while.
Which causes tensions between them for obvious reasons.
Maybe throw in Jason getting a stalker (Joker, anyone?) and there being a major confrontation between him, where Tim comes to his rescue, or something happens to out them and then they both have to figure out what’s going to happen from them.
…
…
…
Anyhow, that’s all I have for now, but I was thinking about that this morning. Don’t even know why I suddenly was thinking of actors or anything.
I don’t actually know much about theater/acting/celebrities except what I see on TV, but this is what’s been in my head :P
Feel free to steal

The Mosley Review: Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege (Season 1)
As a long time fan of the Transformers franchise, I have waited for the day that the story of the war on Cybertron would be told and given a fresh take. It has been attempted many times in television, film and video games. I hated what Michael Bay had done to the franchise and even though they look good, the last great Transformers film was Bumblebee. The television realm has been more consistent in giving a variety of stories that spawned from the war. The original G1 series and Beast Wars are classics, but Transformers Prime has been the best series since. The 2 outstanding video games War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron gave you the chance to be in the war and delivered a more intense and grittier vision. Fast forward to now and there has been a void in the franchise. This new trilogy has finally went deeper into the war and shows a new violent and much darker story that you are wholeheartedly invested in. For the first time, the war between the Autobots and Decepticons has been grounded in a realistic and dramatic tone that is consistently surprising and jaw dropping. Thankfully there are no humans involved, but there is a human element to all our beloved characters. The effort taken to give more thematic depth was absolutely astounding. These are the same Transformers you and I grew up with, but they are way more ravaged by war.
The series features outstanding voice over performances all around, but I'm going to focus on all the major standouts. There have been many iterations of the character Bumblebee and most of them have been consistent. This time around, we get a new origin story for him and Joe Zieja breathes new life into the character. I loved that he has no allegiance and he learns to make decisions that would shape his future. Edward Bosco voices Ultra Magnus and he truly gives an great performance and he shows the heart of the character in more ways than one. His interactions with Optimus Prime and other characters, bring forward the heavier themes of war crimes and diplomacy. I loved Rafael Goldstein as Ratchet. He is the medical bot that we all know and he brings home the heart of the character as he cares for all Cybertronians. Linsay Rousseau was fantastic as Elita-1. Her chemistry with Optimus Prime was great and her constant questioning of his decisions, made you think instead of act. Every decision had a cost and she was the reminder of that. Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen originally voiced Optimus Prime for decades and he gave life to the heroic leader we all know and love. His voice is the blueprint and what we hear when we look at the action figures. It is a massive undertaking to live up to that standard and Jake Foushee has done it. Jake sounds like Peter, but makes the character his own and it was everything I hoped for. Optimus has the same leadership strength, but now you actually feel his pain, grief and the weight of every decision he makes in order to protect the Autobots and Cybertron. He takes massive risks and each one doesn't always lead to success without loss and you feel every bit of it. I loved every second of Jake Foushee performance as Optimus and I can't wait see more
The Decepticons have always been the villains from the beginning and now we see a new reason why and a new side of their philosophy. Frank Todaro was perfectly ambitious and conniving as Starscream. He's the classic version of the character even though he puts his own stamp on him. Shockwave has always been the mad scientist of the Decepticons and Todd Haberkorn takes him to a new level of creepy. We get to the chance to see how evil he is and how dark this series can get through one of Shockwave's unethical and vile experiments. Brook Chalmers was great as Impactor and his arc explores a common story thread, but it was interesting to see it play out in this story. I truly loved Keith Silverstein's performance as Jetfire. There is consistent questioning of morality in the series and I liked that Jetfire is in the middle of it. Even as a proud Decepticon, he struggles with whats right or wrong for Cybertron. A character that has no problems with morality and will not stop at taking out anyone that doesn't follow his command is Megatron. Frank Welker voiced the original and made him the perfect antagonist for Optimus Prime. Jason Marnocha takes the lead as the iconic villain and gives new depth with an outstanding performance. This portrayal of Megatron was more, dare I say, charismatic in the beginning. He has his beliefs on what is good for Cybertron and he would give his life for the sake of saving the Decepticon race, but his methods are cruel. His conversation with a certain Autobot was a standout moment as they share a past and the same objective to end the war, but you see Megatron's shift into a tyrant during that fantastic scene. This is by far the darkest, intimidating and cruel version of the character I've ever seen. I love to see where he goes next and how the conflict between him and Optimus evolves.
Visually this series is gorgeous and has that classic G1 flare and design. The sound is excellent, but I felt there could've been more umpf behind some of the blasters. The sound of them transforming from vehicle to bot and vice versa, is always a pleasing sound to the ears. The score by Alexander Bornstein was excellent and had a Tron like feel to it while delivering his own epic and emotional themes. I'm always open to a fresh take on the Transformers franchise and this was a welcomed darker and more grounded take. The story was fantastic, engaging, dark and I felt every death and the weight of every decision that is made by the hero and villain. If you're a fan of Transformers, classic G1 or new to the franchise, this is a must watch. It has the love for the original series in every frame, but a breath of fresh air the franchise has needed for a long time. The Netflix Original Series is now streaming and I can't recommend it enough.

Summary: Jason Todd is a rock star... and an asshole. Dick Grayson has to do a movie with him. Luckily, there's this cute guy he's started texting recently.
Jason Todd was a rock star.
Yeah, exactly. Now, Dick had worked with some… less than talented people on set before. He’d made his debut in dance movies, for God’s sake, of course not everyone had been ready to play Hamlet.
But a total newbie? Never been on stage or on a movie set before? Dick really wished the producers had consulted him about that before making the decision. They hadn’t even done a chemistry test.
Okay, sure, it was a blockbuster movie about an interracial gay couple. Funding wouldn’t come easy. If the names ‘Richard Grayson’ and ‘Jason Todd’ had to be attached to make the money happen, they would be. And Dick knew Tim Drake, the executive producer, well enough to trust him with this. Tim wouldn’t have cast Jason if he thought it’d be a total shit show.
The thing was - the script was beautiful. The writers had really poured their hearts into it, and it showed. Dick had almost forgotten to read it from an actor’s perspective, he’d been so engrossed. By the end, blinking away tears, he had texted his agent that he would do it before going on a run to shake some of the heaviness away.
It wasn’t like there was a sad ending, exactly. Dick wouldn’t have taken anything with a ‘bury your gays’ feel to it. It was just… it made him feel a lot, this script.
He wanted to do it justice. Hopefully, Jason Todd wouldn’t be the one to drag them all down.
Dick sighed and looked at the script in front of him again. Specifically, at the part marked: ‘Vano: [singing]…’
The other worry he had was quite the opposite from his first. At least Jason Todd didn’t have to worry about singing. Dick had heard his songs as much as anyone could without actively seeking them out, which was to say all the time and everywhere. Jason had been around for years at this point; it didn’t seem likely that his popularity would be abating any time soon.
(When he wasn’t busy critiquing Jason’s casting, Dick could freely admit that his songs were pretty great. They always gave him that on-the-road-looking-for-freedom feeling that he loved. He might be following Jason on Spotify, even, but shush.)
Dick, however… well. He’d been taking singing lessons ever since he’d moved into closer consideration for this role. His vocal coach attested him with enough skills for the songs he’d seen so far. He’d gotten the accent of his character down to pat, too, even when singing and screaming. Still, compared to Jason Todd…
And they would be singing duets.
Giving up on his concentration for the evening, Dick decided to just go for a run. He was already pretty sure he wouldn’t sleep tonight, but exhaustion might help.
It didn’t really. Dick slept like shit and then had to deal with the worst traffic he’d ever seen (and he’d lived in New York for years). He barely made it in time. Tim was already waiting for him outside the lot. That was a sure sign he was getting ready to herd Dick exactly where he needed to be as quickly as possible.
Tim greeted him with a friendly wave. “Hi, Dick, welcome on set! Kate is over at the sound studio, but she’ll be here any minute to start the read-through.”
“Thanks, Tim. Good to see you.” Dick refrained from hugging him only because he knew the younger man preferred it that way on set. “Sorry, I wanted to be here early. I seriously underestimated LA traffic.”
“Yes, I expected that. Just plan in enough time from now on, okay?”
“Of course, Tim.”
Tim sighed. “We’ll see, I guess.”
They entered the building together. Tim guided him towards a smaller meeting room. Jason Todd was already there, sitting in the small circle of chairs. There would be a full cast reading tomorrow; today it was pretty much only Kate, Jason and Dick with the producers.
Dick’s first thought was that he hadn’t expected Jason to look so… soft. He was used to the torn jeans and t-shirt look he rocked in his videos. The knitted sweater he was wearing didn’t exactly fit that image.
The smirk on his face, however, did.
Dick mentally steeled himself. Here we go. He held out his hand. “Hi, Jason. Nice to finally meet you.”
“Hi, Dick.” Jason’s handshake was firm without being too crushing. “Sorry we couldn’t meet up before. I’m pretty literally just coming back from a World Tour.”
Oh, great. Bragging.
“No worries. It’s good to get this started now.” He looked pointedly at the script in Jason’s hand. If Jason had just been on a world tour… “Did you get any time to prepare?”
“I’ll know my lines if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“It’s kind of about more than that.” Okay, that came out catty. “Like, the music, for example.”
Jason seemed to perk up at that. “Oh, yeah, that’s done. I did send the tapes of some suggestions to Kate. But we’ll workshop together, see what you think first.”
Dick would’ve preferred it if Jason had just presented him with finished sheet music and a tape he could imitate, honestly. He had no idea if he had any musical input to offer. And how did you workshop music, anyway? He’d done that with scenes before (though Kate wasn’t the type to welcome a lot of input from her actors beforehand), even settings, but music?
“Sure. Yeah. Let’s do that.” He tried to smile. “I’m looking forward to hearing what you came up with.”
It was probably a good thing Kate entered the room at that moment, introducing herself again and bidding them to start the read-through.
Dick usually lost himself in a performance pretty easily. Even in a read-through, it only meant that he focused even more on letting every emotion shine through his voice.
Vano was pretty unlike Dick himself. Sensitive, shy, in desperate need of approval (okay, that one Dick could relate to) and unsure. Dick found it interesting how his character was juxtaposed with his actions. Vano was so, so afraid; yet he let himself be swept up in a whirlwind romance and even ended up the one pursuing Jason’s character when everything seemed to fall apart. His courage, in the end, was as quiet as it was present. Dick was determined to do him right.
So he concentrated on developing his voice further. He wanted it to be recognisably different from Jason’s character, but also harmonious.
Still, he couldn’t help but judge Jason’s performance.
He wasn’t bad. Honestly, this wasn’t a great script for a read-through - a lot of stuff went unsaid between the two main characters. So a little wooden-ness was expected. Dick was a bit annoyed at the way he stumbled over lines sometimes as if he was reading them for the first time, though. Unprepared partners were the worst.
Afterwards, Kate didn’t look happy. Her first critique was voluminous, including more background notes on their characters and a very detailed rundown of what had sucked about their dialogue. Ah, well. Dick didn’t mind. She wasn’t known to be a coddler.
She complimented Dick on his excellent accent, though. He thought Jason (who spoke in his own accent, or at least the one he always used in interviews and stuff) looked a bit sour at that, which pissed Dick off. He’d worked hard for this, okay. He was actually a trained and studied actor, despite what some people might think.
It also made him wary of the months ahead. Jealousy on set wasn’t cool, even if it was purely professional.
“Tomorrow we’ll go through the script scene by scene and talk through your suggestions. Is there anything fundamental you’d like to say now?” Kate asked.
Dick shook his head. This was honestly one of the best scripts he’d ever read, and he trusted her direction fully. Jason seemed to hesitate, but then he followed suit.
Dick spent some time after talking with some of the crew members that were setting up the sets. He knew some of them from previous movie sets - Tim liked to reward good work with more, better-paid work - and was glad to chit-chat about their careers and families.
Still, Jason seemed to take his time, too. They arrived at the parking lot at about the same time.
“Can I give you a ride?” Dick offered when he noted that Jason was looking a bit lost.
“I’m actually here on my bike,” Jason said, pointing at a frankly gorgeous machine, black, sleek and utterly pretentious.
Dick mentally snorted. Of course he was. Rock star and all that
His own family sized van didn’t match up to that, but honestly, who cared.
“Okay. See you tomorrow, then.”
Jason didn’t even say goodbye, just waved. Dick was tired of him already.
When he entered the house he’d rented for the year, Dick headed straight for his studio and dropped down onto the mat. He needed a proper stretching after today and couldn’t quite face this house yet.
Mostly he was happy with it. It was spacious, including his own dance studio and a pool, and not too far away from the Wayne Brothers lot, but he was able to keep it up without no personnel beyond a cleaner and the occasional garden hand.
Days like these, it was a bit… lonely.
He would have been better off staying with his friend Donna Troy. She’d offered, after all. Dick had thought he would need some quiet to focus on this part, not to mention a room where he could practice his singing parts without annoying the shit out of everyone.
It was just that he wasn’t made for the quiet. His head got too loud when he wasn’t exercising. Usually, he filled that space by concentrating on his current role; he wasn’t precisely method but slipping into someone else’s headspace had always come easy to him. Today, though, that was exactly what he wanted to get away from.
He briefly toyed with the idea of going out and picking someone up. Getting laid worked better than pretty much anything else for him.
Except that wasn’t exactly what he wanted, either.
Look. It wasn’t as if Dick had problems meeting people. The opposite, really. Dick knew he had a good body, okay, and he was charming enough.
He wanted something else, though. He wanted to get to know someone without them already knowing (or thinking they knew) everything about him. He wanted to be sure someone actually liked him for himself. He wanted someone to call in the evenings when he came home from set. Someone to come home to.
Dick sighed and re-arranged his limbs into a backstretch.
People wished for this kind of things all the time. He was just being silly. His mother would’ve straight up laughed at him if he went to her complaining about the drawbacks of fame, a profession he loved and obscene amounts of money.
Dropping his hips open and leaning into that delicious burn, he took out his phone and texted Donna: Going out and getting laid, yes or no? Any bar tips?
The answer was immediate.
Donna: Honey just use tinder like the rest of us
…Why not.
Donna: That was a joke.
Donna: But go ahead I guess.
Thinking about it, Dick finished his routine and headed upstairs to change into some comfy sweats, then back down to the kitchen. A bowl of cereal wasn’t exactly a glamorous meal for a movie star - but neither were Dick’s cooking skills.
Grabbing a beer, he plopped down on his couch and gave in. At least the tinder app was free on the app store. Going through the set-up motions, he hit the next snag, though.
What do I use as a profile picture??? I can’t show my face on this, can I?
Donna: Use your abs
Donna: no wait
Donna: Your butt
Donna: Or maybe that’s too recognisable. Abs it is.
Dick chuckled.
…Thanks I think.
For a second he considered just cutting something out of a promo pic or one of his dozens of semi-nude photoshoots, but who the fuck knew how well Google would be able to match these up. Dick wasn’t going to risk the headline ‘Actor famous for starring in romances is looking for hook-up on tinder’ (though of course TMZ would be far pithier than that) just for his vanity.
Though he did find some shots that hadn’t ever been released and cropped his face out of one of these. That would do. As for his username… he went with the hero of the first movie he’d ever starred in and combined that with his year of birth once the system informed him the name was taken.
After a brief hesitation, he set his sexual preferences to ‘all genders’.
Finally, everything was set up. Dick settled down to check out some hot singles in his area.
Sadly, the selection wasn’t that great. Especially with the dudes. Dick was sure that about half of them were either a decade older or younger than they pretended to be. The women were clearly better at taking selfies, too.
It was possibly the wrong time to be picky. Dick wasn’t usually - a good smile was pretty much all it took on a good day. But hey, he had just spent the day in the company of the hottest rock star the 21st century had produced so far. Every mortal would have difficulty competing with that.
(Not with Jason’s personality though. Easily bottom 20% material there. Urgh. Dick was trying to forget about that.)
After that thought, he swiped right a few times. So far, no one had matched with him, but that was fine. He had just signed up, after all.
Then, finally, came a pic that stood out.
Funnily enough, this profile pic was as profile-less as Dick’s. All it showed was a bare back. It was mirror shot, probably, but with none of the glariness of the other pictures. The guy’s skin was almost as tanned as Dick’s, but what caught his eyes was the sheer endless mass of muscles it stretched across.
Dick swiped right.
A message appeared on the screen. ‘You matched with Rock_n_Rumble, 29’.
He switched apps and texted Donna again: There’s a cute guy! We matched! But I can’t just go meet up with him, can I? Wally would kill me
Donna: you genuinely just thought of that???
Yes^^’
Donna: Stop trying to make manga emojis happen again, Dick
Donna: Just… talk to him, flirt a bit; maybe it’ll be ok
Donna: This is LA after all
Donna: Or he’ll just send you a dick pic
Donna: I do not want to know if either of these possibilities occurs.
I will describe everything that happens in explicit, excruciating detail.
Dick switched back to tinder and pressed ‘OK’. A chatroom opened. He stared at the entry field for a long second, pondering how to start the conversation. He’d never felt the need for chat up lines before. Honesty and friendliness had always worked best for him. Hopefully, that would translate over into the Internet.
Nightwing86: Hi
Rock_n_Rumble: Hi.
This was where Dick would usually make a comment about the venue they were at or the way the other person looked, but… how did you compliment someone’s bare back without sounding like a total creep?
As he watched the seconds tick by without either of them writing anything, he realised that oh. Rock_n_Rumble wasn’t exactly in a better situation. Oh well, there was nothing for it then.
Nightwing86: With a body like that - what on Earth are you doing on this site?
Rock_n_Rumble: Shouldn’t I ask you the same thing?
Rock_n_Rumble: Musician, ex-addict, grew up in New York - and also shit at flirting, in case you didn’t notice. Should I continue with that list?
Nightwing86: Eh, you’re doing fine.
He was. Dick kinda dug the self-deprecating sarcasm. And at least he had something to work with now.
Nightwing86: Musician?
Rock_n_Rumble: I’m a guitarist
Nightwing86: Oh, you’re in a band?
Rock_n_Rumble: Kind of
Rock_n_Rumble: Nothing fixed, but I go on tour a lot. Weird staying in one place for work right now
He must be recording an album then. Considering that good guitarists in LA were like sand at a beach, Dick mentally re-evaluated the fame level of his conversation partner.
Nightwing86: I get that; I travel for work a lot too
Rock_n_Rumble: What do you do?
Dick considered lying, but honestly, what was the point? And anyway, they were in LA. There were thousands of people calling themselves actors here.
Nightwing86: I’m an actor.
Rock_n_Rumble: oh cool. Film or theatre?
Nightwing86: Mostly film these days. Was up on stage in NY for a bit, kinda miss it.
Rock_n_Rumble: Oh really? When? Might’ve seen you, I went to Broadway a lot once I could afford it.
Nightwing86: its been a while, 2004-2006
That information wouldn’t give him away. Again, tons of people tried to make it on Broadway. Still, maybe he should address the fact that he wasn’t ready to talk about who he was.
Rock_n_Rumble: So I notice neither of us is forthcoming about names and identifying information.
Rock_n_Rumble: Proposal: We stay anonymous for now, see how we get along, decide if we want to actually meet up later.
Nightwing86: oh thank god
Nightwing86: yeah, that would be great. I don’t like lying, but coming out to a stranger isn’t…
Rock_n_Rumble: same. Like, I’m technically out, but with the industry being what it is, the gossip isn’t fun.
Nightwing86: How does being ‘technically out’ work? All I ever get is ‘if you so much as breathe into the direction of someone who isn’t a cis woman we’ll kill you’
Rock_n_Rumble: It’s called ‘being a shit liar’.
Rock_n_Rumble: Also contrary enough that management knows that my reaction to being told that would probably result in me sucking a dick on stage.
Dick laughed.
Nightwing86: Now that is a mental image to take to bed with.
Rock_n_Rumble: I like that we’ve been chatting for ten minutes and I’ve already got a kink noted down.
Nightwing86: You remember you’re talking to an actor, right? Pretty sure we’re 85% exhibitionists.
Rock_n_Rumble: …okay, that’s a fair point.
Rock_n_Rumble: Still noting it down, though.
Nightwing86: Please tell me you’re not literally doing that.
Rock_n_Rumble: Maybe.
Rock_n_Rumble: Look, you want to exchange numbers? I’m not going to stay on this platform, I think.
Nightwing86: Aww, am I enough for you?
Nightwing86: 344-394-2222. Do me a favour and don’t pass that on.
Rock_n_Rumble: Promise. I’ll text you, just one sec.
Barely a few seconds later, a WhatsApp message popped up: Hi it’s Rock_n_Rumble. Thought this might work out better than text if you’re travelling a lot, too.
After some consideration, Dick saved the contact as ‘R_n_R’. The consideration was mostly about adding a butt or shoulder emoji to it, but he decided to be classy instead.
Out of curiosity, he checked out the WhatsApp profile of the other guy. Sadly, the pic was of a bright red guitar. His own was of the bird plushie that had accompanied him through his childhood and ever since, though, so he probably shouldn’t complain.
Hi again. Good thinking.
R_n_R: Oh good, it’s you and not someone completely unsuspecting.
R_n_R: So what are you up to? Apart from tindering, obviously.
Trying to decide if I want to watch something. Any Netflix recs?
Dick later mentally congratulated himself, because that question started a conversation that lasted for at least half an hour. Their taste didn’t seem too different, though Dick kinda had to snort when R_n_R recommended some of his own movies to him. In the end, they settled on ‘Luther’, because Idris Elba and murder. How exactly ‘recommend me a movie’ had turned into ‘let’s watch this series at the same time and shoot the shit over text’, Dick wasn’t sure, but it was pretty fun.
So fun, actually, that it took a text from Donna to remind him how much time had passed.
Donna: So how was it? Don’t leave me hanging, bird-boy.
I’m getting rid of tinder. All I got were three dick pics and two girls accusing me of catfishing them using Dick Grayson’s photos. Another girl explained to me that headless pics usually mean someone is married or in a relationship and doesn’t want their significant other to see. She called me an asshole for that, that’s why she even swiped right. Then she blocked me.
And if Dick was honest… he kinda liked the thought of trying this with Rock_n_Rumble, and Rock_n_Rumble only. The first person he’d talked to on there. The only one he connected to, even if only on a superficial level so far.
(Yes, he had screenshotted and saved that picture. Whatever.)
Donna: One gender clearly came out ahead in this.
And the cute guy is still chatting with me. We’re keeping it anon for now though. It’s been an hour and no sex talk, so I guess he’s legit.
Donna: facepalm Dick, do you ever consider your life might’ve turned into a romantic comedy?
We’re just talking.
Donna: Right. Well, I’ll leave you to do that. Good night, Dick. Have fun.

Random Batfam Headcanon's #13:
(Continuation of #11)
Jason, after meeting his old Highschool Drama Club again, decides to join during his free time as they've started an Acting Troupe. And of course, the next play they're putting on?
It's fucking West Side Story.
And they've cast Jason as Bernardo.
_______________________________________________
Friend #1: "Ok, so we're Casting you as Bernardo. He's Puerto Rican and he's leading a Gang of Roughed up fellow Puerto Rican Kids Called the Shark against the Jets, a Gang of Whites in this predominantly Italian neighborhood."
Friend #2: "yeah, and your character begins taunting the protagonist before being attacked by and end up killing the leader of The Jets before being killed by the plays main protagonist in a knee jerk reaction."
Friend #1: "So, you may be a bit rusty, but think you can do it?"
Jason, Who's part Puerto Rican on his dad's side, is currently leading the Red Hood Gang (who are all Bowery kids who some have a Puerto Rican Background), and who last week Taunted Batman with a gun to the Jokers Head before being attacked by the Joker and got a Batarang to the shoulder in a knee jerk reaction from Batman:
Jason: "...I think I can pull that off."

I don't really feel Titans Jason Todd. The script and characterization is on point as is his dynamic with Dick (bruddderrrrsss be still mine heart!) but, no shade to the actor who is quite good, he still doesn't feel like my bratty little murder baby.
I love and adore all my batchildren but I would die for Jaybird, I really would. A little downhearted that the only live-action Jason Todd doesn't tug at my maternal heartstrings.
EDIT: Okay characterization not on point. In the comics, little Jay was the goodest little soldier for the first couple of years as Robin until he became jaded with Bruce's more lawful methods. Even then he was never randomly violent and undisciplined enough to think the Robin suit would let him get away with anything. Definitely not beating up a random bunch of cops. He would do that many years and much more trauma later as Red Hood. But he was a good fucking Robin damn it.
I hate how they keep retconning his character into a senselessly violent uncontrolled little punk. They're never done shitting on my baby. Fuck you DC.
#momma loves her precious murder baby#i love the relationship between dick and jay here tho#i don't think the comics ever gave us this goodness except for the only time jay visited the titans as robin#i miss my children#dcu#jason todd#dick grayson#titans

To be honest, one character I want to see in s4 of Young Justice...outside of Jason Todd, Star Fire, Raven, Jon Kent, Lain Haper (when she’s a teenager, that is) and Maps, is Damian Wayne. While he seems to be a “love him or hate him” sorta character, I still want to see him on the series because...
1. During s1 when Clark was shocked and confused about how to take the whole “Lex Luther took your DNA and made a clone of you with it, who is your son now” ordeal, Bruce was the first one to talk some sense into him, saying that Conner is his son and he should be there for him. Knowing in his heart his friend is right, Clark tries to be there for Conner and treat him more like a son over the course of the season.
With Young Justice changing things about the comics, it’s safe to assume that if Damian becomes a character in the future seasons, he’d likely be a test tube baby made by The Light, using Talia and Bruce’s DNA. After all, if they pulled it with Red Arrow and Super Boy, why not pull it again? It would be interesting to see if Bruce can live up to his own advice or not when he’s put in Clark’s place.
(As a side note, Damian possibly being a clone in the series if he is added could also explain his anger management issues since that seems to be a problem with all of the clones on the show.)
2. It could shed some well needed light on the Bat Family, giving Bruce, Tim and Dick more development. We could finally get the Red Hood storyline and/or a Bat Family team up episode.
3. If the showrunners write him right, he could be a compelling character. I could see him being a strange mixture of s0 Yami and DM Yami from YuGiOh. Someone who has a conscience and has a good heart, but his methods of carrying out his actions are messed up due to his upbringing. He can also be haughty and arrogant with a regalness about himself, seeing himself as an assassin prince and the future rulers of the world. But on the flip side, deep down, he is a caring and loving boy. He is just thinks that love is earned. But as time goes on and he spends more time with the team, he leans more towards the DM Yami side where his true self shines through more often and calms down on the killing, but he can still be rather prideful, hot-headed and hides his emotions. His messed up side can creep up once in awhile as well.
4. He would be a good way to add positive Chinese and Arab representation on the show. They could get an Arab or Chinese actor to play him like they did with Ras’ characters for the series.
5. Damian could have some great interactions with Garth and Conner. Him and Garth both care a lot about animals and are both vegetarians, so they could bond over that. Him and Conner both could possibly connect about their similar situations with him being the only one to get through to him at the start. Him and Miss Martian could have some interesting interactions too, considering she is like Garth’s older sister and could possible date Super Boy during s3 onwards.
6. If Jon Kent becomes a thing, we could see him and Damian interact like in the Supersons comics. Though, if that does happen, I can see it being a trio with Conner being forced by Superman to look after the boys on missions at first. (I can see Conner being miffed and making comments about being put on “babysitting duty”)
7. His background could make for a great story. There are plenty of great plotlines from the comics they could take from. From Damian wanting to his whole family to be together again to figuring out that Ras was using him all along and being heartbroken about it afterwards to the Young Justice team being hunted down by the League of Assassins and more.

[Review] Shudder’s DOWNRANGE is Morbid, Mean, and Mostly Great
Some movies are just going to be gross. You look at the director or the source material the film is based on and you just know that it is going to make you cover your mouth and squirm. Sometimes, even with that beforehand knowledge in our pocket, we encounter a film that still finds a way to shock us into submission. Ryuhei Kitamura, director of The Midnight Meat Train, brings us exactly that type of film with his newest outing, Downrange.
The film starts off with a bang (see what I did there?). It opens on a SUV full of college-age folks as a tire blows and the vehicle skids to the side of the road. If you have seen a trailer or heard anything about this film, you know exactly what is coming next. The group, which consists of couple Sara (Alexa Yeames) and Todd (Rod Hernandez), military brat Keren (Stephanie Pearson), hunky-hunk from Hunkville Jeff (Jason Tobias), soft-spoken nice-guy Eric (Anthony Kirlew) and a young lady just trying to get home to her sister’s sweet-16 party Jodi (Kelly Connaire).
We know all of these things because they tell us within the first 10 minutes of the movie. Usually, exposition like this is annoying and lazy, but Kitamura gets around it by making this a carpool-situation where these people are all strangers going into this little road trip. It’s understandable, then, that they would introduce themselves to one another, and to the audience.
As you can probably guess, they have no cell signal and it is blazing hot outside. They spread out in the shade and try to pass the time by chit-chatting one another about their plans. Hunk Jeff takes over the changing of the spare tire when he sees what it was that caused the blowout in the first place. There laying on the ground next to the deflated tire is a bullet, and that’s when things really start to get interesting.
“The film is filled […] with some of the best gore and body destruction I have seen since Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead re-make.”
The group in terrorized by a sniper in the trees, making them cower behind engine blocks and fallen tree stumps, picking them off one-by-one as they peek their head out to see what is going on. This is where Downrange really shines. The film is filled from this point until the end with some of the best gore and body destruction I have seen since Fede Álvarez‘s Evil Dead re-make. We see bullets tear through skulls, eyes, hands, arms, legs, shoulders, chests and throats. Literally no part of your body is safe from this killer’s aim. As the young people scream and bleed and die, we see this killer drink from his water bottle and methodically eat jerky. This is fun to him, and he can wait forever for them to try to make a run for it.
The highlight of the entire film comes when another car finally drives toward the wrecked SUV, bringing with it hope for rescue from the remaining carpoolers. The sniper takes a shot at the driver, causing the car to swerve and flip, resulting in one of the most gruesome, kinetic, and blood-splutteringly cool car crashes that I have seen in a long time. It reminded me a lot of the crash in Death Proof, only turned up to eleven when you realize that there 1) is a child in the car and 2) there are bodies already baking in the street where the car is about to land.
The gore and splatter are amazing in Downrange and they definitely deserve a watch when it is released exclusively on Shudder April 26th, but that note is really the only one that this film can hit. It suffers from a cast that is earnest, but obviously inexperienced. In The Midnight Meat Train, Kitamura was able to compliment the gore with performances from Bradley Cooper, Leslie Bibb and Vinnie Jones that brought extra urgency and emotion into their roles through sheer talent. Downrange does not benefit from this level of acting. They all do well, and they are obviously trying to bring more to their role than “be afraid then bleed”, but it doesn’t land.
Rod Hernandez’s Todd is the bright spot in this group of actors, with a poignant scene in the middle of the road after all hope for survival had been drained from his body. It was the only moment of tenderness that the film managed to successfully display, so it was definitely memorable. The ending of the film, however, seemed rudderless and out-of-place. It was an effective twist that you need to see, but it left me feeling a little let down after the previous 90 minutes of mayhem.
“Downrange is shocking and brutal in its depiction of senseless gun violence”
No creator of horror content goes into a project with no plan in place. They don’t just “wing it” until they see something that might scares some folks. They have spent months, sometimes years nailing down exactly what is going to scare the audience in their work. They use current events, folklore, myths and cultural anxieties to create a web of tension that we, as the participants, must find a way out of. Sometimes, however, current events will cause the cultural anxieties to shift since the beginning of the project. This creates a horror film that will terrify you for a reason the director and writers didn’t expect.
Downrange, I believe, is both the beneficiary and the victim of this phenomenon. I feel like the goal of Kitamura and his co-writer Joey O’Bryan with this film was to scare us because this type of shooting rampage could happen in real life. Instead, the movie scares us because it does happen in real life. This psychopathic killer, in the span of the film’s 90 minute runtime, manages to terrorize and kill twelve people. On October 1st, 2017, a 64 year-old piece of shit from Nevada opened fire on a country music concert, killing 58 and wounding 851 more in the span of 10 minutes. We’ve seen this movie before. It plays every time we gather with a crowd, whether it be for a basketball game, a concert, or for church. It plays when we leave the bar at night and when we head to work in the morning. Downrange is shocking and brutal in its depiction of senseless gun violence, but, unfortunately for those of us living in the United States, we get the same feelings just by turning on the news.
Be sure to check out this bloody, brutal treat of a film as it premiers exclusively on Shudder this Thursday, April 26th. Although there are some points in the film that are just not quite great, Downrange is definitely worth a watch this weekend.
2.5/4 eberts

Aioda, can I ask you a seasonal question please?? What costumes do you think Jason and Dick would wear to a Halloween party? Hope you're having a great day!
You are an absolute darling for this ask, I didn’t tell you when we were chatting but ahdkjasd what lovely thoughts this brings. Ok, whilst it is very tempting to go down the usual route- Jason dresses up as Wonder woman and Dick dresses up as Superman (and sends pics to clark because ofc he would)...
I love the idea of Jason being like, nah, can’t be stuffed for an outfit, so wears his old battered black leather jacket, and carries a bottle of Jack and announces himself as Jessica Jones. When Dick questions that you’re just wearing a leather jacket...Jason shrugs and swigs a drink because that is also what Jessica Jones would do in this situation and ha Dick I’m in character. Dick decides not to let him out of the house like that, and digs out Jason’s old wonder woman costume, which god damn is that getting tighter or...?? Dick regrets asking Jason to change almost as soon as Jason steps out.
Dick, the natural actor, went all out Jon Snow costume, and plans to spend the entire evening with a gruff voice. Whenever he pulls the voice, it makes Jason laugh because Dick you idiot that is your Batman voice. To which Dick constantly replies in the same gruff voice, you know nothing Jason Todd. Its the wrong person to say the line but Jason is too busy laughing to correct him because Dick subscribes to the school of method acting.
(After all that fuss, they don’t end up going to the party. Too many pennywise clowns around and Jason’s breathing gets funny, so Dick pretends he left something at the apartment, then woops I just remembered Scary Movie 2 is playing, then jeez jay you don’t look comfortable in the outfit, then right as things start to get interesting, Red Hood and Nightwing are needed across town. Damn it all.)
