Jason snuck out of the next door neighbors apartment, his boot covered in his blood just as a bruised and battered teenage girl walked over to him, terrified.
Girl (hopeful, but worried): Is he... Is he...
Jason (joking to ease the tension): If he's alive after that he's inhuman. Well more then he already was. Good thing he was home alone. Nobody was there at the time.
Jason looked at the bruised teen girl and she smiled softly.
Girl: Thank you.
Jason: What are you talking about? I have no idea who you are. I did find this backpack in there and it doesn't belong to him. Better keep it. It's got some money in there as well.
Jason handed the girl the backpack then walked passed her without discussing anything further. She chuckled with a nod then walked off to safety.

Jason Todd headcanons as I wait for my bus lol
- Jason is very calculated and smart, he makes detailed plans and schedules for almost everything in his life
- If he, somehow, started dating someone, NO ONE would know, literally no one. His family is constantly on his ass about his love life, but there’s just no way that he’s sharing that aspect of his life
- He has super deep eyebags from staying up too late, he also has big doe eyes that are constantly filled with an overwhelming amount melancholy
- I think he struggles with insomnia and has night terrors, it gets so bad to point where he’ll walk out of his apartment in the middle of the night just to get some peace
- He’s that one guy on the train that’s super ominous and scary, but when you accidentally make eye contact he squints his eyes and smiles really hard
- Jason for sure smiles in awkward or uncomfortable circumstances and uses humour to cope with the intensity of the situation
- he doesn’t really use social media, but he does have an instagram account. It has less than 50 followers (family members and close friends only) and it has two posts:
- One shirtless back pic because he’s a slut (drooling btw) and a picture of his messy book shelf
- He eats a lot and he gets super irritable when he doesn’t eat enough or on time
- He uses the bunny ears method to tie his shoelaces, and when he goes back to visit his old neighbourhood, he teaches the kids how to tie their laces that way too
- Jason is a diy queen, he does everything himself and rarely ever spends his money
- He will fuck up a box of fudge covered Oreos and a family size bag of chips in one sitting, he does not give a shit
- He pulls up to grocery stores and bodegas mid patrol as the red hood and gets free snacks because 1) the people are scared or 2) because they love him, he tries to pay but it never works out for him

AU, where Priest!Jason Todd keeps receiving random quests from the alternative universe, who are very, very persistent on getting his advice.
At some point, Jason stops getting surprised by the absolute unexplainable events in his hometown. He died and came back — so, what are some guests from the other realities for him? Absolutely nothing. He already helped that girl once, Traci. She also appeared out of nowhere.
And Jason... well, Father Jason is all about helping people, not asking questions.
That's why, when he sees a strange flash of light outside the church and hears heavy steps, coming closer to the confessional, he makes sure not to be too curious. Curiousity leads people to wrong paths sometimes.
'Jason?' The low, rumbling voice asks.
It reminds him of Thomas Wayne's a little but softer.
Thomas is not necessarily his friend, but they smoke sometimes together since Jason once accidentally found bleeding out Batman at the stairs leading to his church. He is a nice man.
'You shall call me Father Todd,' Jason fixes the guest methodically. 'How can I help you, my child?'
The man lets out a soft, amused laughter, and Jason hears him dragging his heavy body inside the booth before plopping on the cold, wooden seat.
'I am not here to confess,' the man warns. 'But I might need an advice.'
'An ask for help is also a confession in a way; sometimes, a bolder one,' Jason replies. 'I will do my best to guide you, my child. Tell me more about the issue you are facing.'
'I... I have a son,' the man starts slowly. 'I hurt him a lot in the past. And I don't know how to fix this.'
Jason hums, encouraging him to continue. They talk for the rest of the night. The mysterious guest leaves pleased.
In a week after that, another guest drops by. This time, it is a young man who keeps tapping his feet nervously and persistently cracks jokes straight until Jason gently tells him to lay on him all his burdens. This makes him snap and break down crying. Richard — or so he calls himself — never asks for advice, but he confesses in all things he had done; and then for things he didn't. Jason hears him out, reassuring that half of those wasn't even his fault, and they pray together that night through the thin wall dividing them. Richard tells him that it was a while he felt himself this free before leaving. Jason never hears from him again.
A seemingly young boy visits next. He is amused for the most of the time, but Jason still patiently talks him through the casualties of ceremonies like this, deciding not to get mad at a teenager — he was no better at that age. Somewhere in between long pauses and questions, Timothy suddenly starts talking quietly about his parents; about how they were religious, but he never understood their faith. Not really.
He says he misses him, and he wishes he could turn time back to agree on following his mom in the church in these rare days they were not working. They sit together for a while, and Jason allows him to reminisce about his parents. Tim leaves, thanking him for being heard.
Jason accepts a few more strange quests. A kid with the vocabulary of an ancient creature that admits that he is not even Christian — Jason still offers him an ear telling him it doesn’t matter; not when a child of God needs advice — a silent girl that speaks in short sentences and asks how to get rid of regret and guilt following her around for years, and then, a total opposite one: a blabbering and giggling girl that ends up talking with him about her mom. He swears, at some point Duke, the kid from Narrows that he has over with his family on Sundays, visits him too; just, somehow, an older one. Even that doesn't cause Father Todd to ask questions.
...Not until someone enters the confessional with a strange, animal-like cautiousness.
'So, you are the one they visit all the time, huh?' The stranger comments, his voice... his voice surprisingly familiar. 'Father Todd.'
If there is a slight mocking intonation in the low voice, then Jason prefers to ignore it.
'That would be me, yes. How can I help you, my child?'
'Well, well, Father Todd... Riddle me this...'
The more the unknown boy speaks, the more nauseous Jason feels. He knows this story; he remembers finding Catherine dead, he remembers stealing tires — and even though the boy by the other side found a family, while he didn’t, the death and reborn he speaks about, is still something Jason relates to.
For the first time since he started to get strange visitors, Jason indulges himself — he allows curiosity to take over.
The visitor is in the middle of casually, almost intentionally so, retelling how he woke up in the casket, when Jason walks out of his part of booth, and unceremoniously opens the opposite side of it, facing a boy in the red armour. He hugs a big, intimidating helmet, and when their eyes meet, Jason freezes, despite knowing an answer all along.
It is him. Of course, it is him.
'Jesus fucking Christ, ruining the very little privacy this place has, in our Catholic house?' The other Jason mocks him, leaning slightly forward. 'I expected more from us. I am hurt.'
Father Todd just sighs.
Nothing could ever prepare him for needing to... accept a confession from himself. Yet, he is here, staring at the scruffy youth with a wolf-like smile who is so obviously lost behind all these fake bravado that it hurts.
'Behave,' he purses lips in a thin line before closing the door in his face again.
He doesn't need to see to know that a surprised expression touched his sharp features.
Jason makes his way back to his side of confessional, and clears up his throat again.
'I apologise. Please, you shall resume your story.'
The other Jason is silent for a while. He thinks the boy might leave — they had it in themselves, after all; leaving when being met with an unexpected touch of gentleness from others, instead of rage — but then, he doesn't.
His voice lacks all mockery and amusement when he speaks up again, the words lacing in a tale of sorrow and regrets.
And Father Todd... answers, of course. He is not here to ask questions, after all. He is all about helping people.
And who, if not Jason Todd, knows that there is no one but higher forces and themselves, who can help them through their toughest times?

Guard Dog

Jason Todd x reader
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Shit, did she see him?
He tried so hard to stay hidden. He just wants to keep her safe.
From the moment he first met her, all Jason wanted was for her to be safe. And if he doesn't follow her himself, what better method to guarantee her safety? At least while he was around, he could monitor her and knew she was safe. And he isn't fooling anyone, he is always following her.
She probably didn't even remember the day she changed his life, but Jason remembered it as if it had been yesterday.
He went into the little corner market near his apartment building after one to many nights of hunting down criminals with his brother Dick who of course was being a dick and getting on his nerves. To say his mood was bad was an understatement. But that changed as soon  he saw her. When she smiled at him from behind the counter his world stopped spinning for a moment only to resolve again, but the focal point of his cosmos had changed courses from the sun to her. From the moment she looked up at him, smiled and greeted him with the sweetest voice he had ever heard, his world resolved around her. He made a promise to himself then that he wouldn't let the horrors of the outside world tarnish her. He would not let anything happen to her. She was a delicate flower- or so he thought- and he wouldn't let the world's cruelty take her softness away.
Tonight is nothing different. He follows her like always, none of her friends offering to walk her home even though it is late at night. He scoffs at that. Jason sure as hell needs to have a little chat with one of her guy friends. After all they were walking in the same direction but the guy couldn't wait the half hour she stayed longer to finish her drink. The good thing is that he is here to look out for her, like he always is.The perfect guard dog and she doesn't even know she has him.Does Jason wish for her to be aware?  Hell yeah, he wants to get to know her but not through him following her around, but for her to tell him everything there is just because she can and chooses to share her story with him. He also really wants her to know Jason and who he is at his core, not just the vigilante.
Therefore it was only natural for him to get close, but maybe he got too close because she saw him and he wasn't ready for him to confront her yet or rather the other way around?
In any case, he needed to leave quickly and so he did. But he has the bad feeling that she saw who he is. Or accurately who his alter ego is.
Hopefully she doesn't get herself in any danger now  just so she can get answers to the thousand of questions she sure as hell has. He knows her well enough now to be able to make that assessment.
Shit he really needed to either be more careful or come clean. But how the hell was he supposed to do that ?

Would I be allowed to request Wally west and Jason Todd Dating reader who is always tired/very sleep deprived
Like always stays up, always has messy hair/bed head, usually in her PJ'S, drinks coffee to try to wake herself up ect
Jason Todd/Wally West x Tired!Reader Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

- Credit to the images owners - Please be specific about characters wanted and read the request rules -
Masterlist Navigation
Jason
• Jason’s usually up late at night, so if you’re awake in the late hours of the night or early morning when others usually aren’t he wouldn’t mind staying up with you. He knows it’s a bad habit for himself, so once he notices how often you’re up late then he might bring it up to you once he notices any trouble it’s causing you.
• Of course he wants you to sleep more, but with this he’s a bit of a hypocrite. He can’t expect you to sleep more when he isn’t doing it either. But most of the time this doesn’t matter to him, he has quite a lot of double standards when it comes to others looking after themselves.
• Jason can nah a lot when he wants to be, although it may come across as him being snap or controlling when he’s telling you what to do. He’s going to be a bit more demanding when he tells you to go to bed or to greet a better routine after not doing it yourself for a long time.
• There may be times that he literally drags you to bed when he sees how tired you’ve been over the span of a few days or noticing that it’s starting to impact your behaviour. If it starts to impact any plans you may have together it will make him even more frustrated. If you don’t sort it out yourself, expect him to take a direct approach to it.
• He might even start setting a bed time for you, physically dragging you off to bed to force you to get into a routine. Even if you don’t sleep it’s still better to herself into the habit of certain behaviour. If this doesn’t work he’ll make sure you’re up extremely early in the morning so you’re exhausted by the end of the day and eventually crash when normal people would go to sleep.
Wally
• Wally likes his cozy nights in, but once he notices that you’re sheets in that state of tiredness and lying around due to how exhausted you are then he will be a bit pushy about you getting more sleep. He’s got a lot of energy, so he needs someone who can at least keep up with him mentally which won’t work if you can’t even concentrate properly.
• Wally doesn't mind if you stay up all night, even if you aren't really doing much together. And since he's up all night doing his 'vigilante stuff' and just because he's out during the day too doesn't mean he isn't up at ridiculous hours of the night, it's nice to know that someone would still be awake to keep him company by the time he's done.
• He always nags, but no matter how much he does it he's still never that serious about it. He tries his best to keep everything lighthearted, but will encourage you to do things without outwardly showing you how worried he is about your continuous habit.
• He’ll try his best to intervene, but his methods don’t always work, especially when it comes to low energy levels. He’s hoping he can tire you out completely by the end of the day to the point of shutting down so that you can actually go to bed at a decent time.
• Wally needs someone who can keep up with him a lot of the time, and your constant tiredness isn’t really making the relationship between you both work as well as it could. But he’ll try his best to adapt as much as he can whilst also pushing you towards a healthier way of living and a better sleep schedule, whether that be from something like insomnia or your body being too accustomed to a constant supply of caffeine.

List of Jason Todd/Red Hood's weapons/gadgets/touys
Note: This is mostly from comics written by Winick, as I refuse to acknowledge most of n52. Feel free to add more, though!
Note2: This post was originally formatted in a different way, as I foolishly forgot about the image limit.
Blades
Tumblr media
1— His iconic dagger!
Can cut through stone, and most of Batman's gear. It's been heavily debated what kind of knife it is; wether a kris, a parrying dagger, or a third secret thing.
2— The blades he gives Mia to defend herself!
I'm not sure what kind of blade they are, they vaguely look like wakizashis? Their size varies from panel to panel so idk😔
3— The katana for the 'duel' with Oliver!
4— And to link with the next section, the exploding katana!
Yes, it's a katana that explodes. Jason baits Oliver into holding it.
Explosives
Tumblr media
— First of all, he blows up many many things and it's not specified what exactly he uses. So the unspecified explosives that only appear as a cool fireball panel get a bullet point.
5— The jumble of explosives in the Final Confrontation™️, we can see some dynamite, C4...
6— Bomb in a crate
7— Small bomb. Not lethal!
8— Bigger bomb. Yes lethal.
9— Continuing with this absolute icon: the bomb under the Batmobile (should I capitalize that?)
10— Small Rocket, used against Brick
11— Grenade?
12— Small, cylinder-shaped explosives. Detonated upon impact?
13— Small explosive that attaches to flat surfaces, used against Mr Freeze
14— Grenade.
15— Molotov Cocktail
16— Enough C4 to destroy a whole building, modded so it explodes if its temperature reaches one point, countering Batman's method of freezing bombs.
17— My absolute favorite, the exploding helmet!
Even if it's listed under 'explosives', it's also an important piece of technology in the Red Hood's arsenal.
Firearms
Tumblr media
18, 19— The guns in the wall from Annual #25, there's surely more.
20— Machine guns hidden in crates!
21— Machine guns hidden in cars!
22— Rocket launcher, used against Black Mask
23— Even more hidden machine guns! This time in an electricity pole.
24— Machine gun (also hidden, but surprisingly not attached to anything)
25— Handgun👍
26— AK-47, you know the panel from where it's from
27— Submachine guns, I think 🙂
28— When out of ammo he uses his guns as blunt weapons, which I wanted to note
Tasers
Tumblr media
29— The nazi-killing taser
30— The reason for the creation of this post! The grapple line taser! Attach it to a grapple line and it will shock whoever is connected to it. Noticed it in a reread of utrh and needed people to see it
31— Bonus: the bat-symbol taser. Iconic enough to be here.
Tech & Surveillance
Tumblr media
32— Monitor and microphone?
33, 34— cameras :)
35— thing to see the feed of the cameras
36, 37— phones :)
38— his little tech den in #650
39, 40— computers :)
41— whatever this thing is
42— The surveillance device that looks like he taped a canon camera to his face
43— Wiretaps!
44— Bugs!
He also has his evil lair in B&R2009 bugged.
Miscellaneous
Tumblr media
45— Does his crowbar count
46— smoke bomb!!
47— Injectable adrenaline. He just has that in his utility belt.
48— His batmobile-evade suit.
49— Is saying his belt buckle mean
50— Unspecified poison! Goodbye Egon
51— This thing that attaches to its target and launches them off
Not pictured:
The fancy wound dressing he gives onyx to patch up the shoulder wound he inflicted (I forgot to screenshot 💔)
Also, he has this whole hq-ish thing in Annual #25
Tumblr media
(Edit: That rectangle in the gun wall kinda looks like an anti-drone gun now that I think abt it)
Tumblr media
It has a murder board, which I think is cute.

Lucky it's not Worse (part 4)
First part | Masterpost | previous part|
Betad by mossycobblestonewrites! Thank you
------
Batman has had a very hard... time, he wasn't honestly sure exactly how long it had been since Jason died. Since he'd lost his mind to the point the neighbor's child took it upon himself to play adult and keep Batman from falling apart. Of course, Tim had turned out to be a good kid in need of a home, and Bruce was glad to have him now, but that didn't touch his hurt and shame for his behaviour. And then Red Hood showed up.
The new rogue had an absolutely meteoric rise in power in Crime Alley, taking over the drug trade and forming a very organized gang before Bruce even had time to really register the threat. His rise had been bloody and thorough as he brought nearly all of organized crime in Gotham under his heel, with the help of his loyal second in command, Hyena.
Batman had thought that this headache couldn't get any worse, and then he found out who was under the Red Hood. Jason Todd, his son, back from the dead and so deeply changed, so angry about his death, and his life. Bruce... hadn't reacted well, honestly, he understood why Jason wanted to be avenged and they had wanted to avenge him. In the heat of the moment Dick had nearly killed the Joker, and so had Bruce really, if Clark hadn't held him back...
But in the heat of the moment, Bruce hadn't chosen his son. He had hurt Jason, again, to save the Joker, and it hadn't even worked. It had only been a few months later when Hyena had killed the Joker and brought Jason his head. Bruce had watched Jason declare his love for Hyena, before turning on Batman and Robin again. He wanted to help Jason, he really did, but he was afraid it was far too late.
The only thing that was giving him even an ounce of hope was that Red Hood had agreed to meet them tonight. Well, meet him. Bruce had refused to bring Tim and put him in that sort of danger, though he was sure that the third Robin had followed him anyway and was around here somewhere. Batman stood on a roof, waiting for Red Hood to come join him.
There was the sound of an impact beside Bruce and he turned towards it, expecting to see Red Hood and... displeased, to say the least, to see it wasn't him. Hyena stood on the other side of the roof, green eyes practically glowing over the muzzle he wore to hide the lower half of his face.
Bruce didn't know how to feel about Hyena. He knew that in his day-to-day life, the man was known as Fox, but Bruce couldn't find any mention of the name before he showed up in Gotham and started working for Red Hood. He knew Fox was a fake name too, but he couldn't find any hint of the man before he went by it. It was driving Batman crazy especially since Fox was so close to Jason. Was he to blame for the violent methods Jason was using now? A part of Bruce desperately wanted to believe this wasn't really his son's fault, at least not entirely.
"Hyena," Bruce greeted warily. "Where's Red hood, he agreed-"
"He agreed to hear you out," Hyena interrupted, sitting down on the raised edge of the building and crossing one leg over the other. "But something came up, I'm his eyes and ears when he isn't there, and I'm wearing a wire so he can listen in now or later. Whenever he's ready to."
"I don't want to talk to You," Batman growled and Hyena shrugged, posture relaxed and confident. He clearly wasn't intimidated at all by Batman, it was... disconcerting.
"Well then, that's just too bad, because he's not ready to see you until I give the go-ahead that you're not going to hurt him again." Hyena raised his chin defiantly, staring Batman down accusatory. "Since I was the one who stitched his throat back up after you slit it open," He said in an accusing snarl. Bruce suppressed his flinch.
"I'm not going to hurt him," Bruce said softly.
"Oh? You're not?" Hyena asked, cocking his head to the side, "Just going to arrest him and send him to Arkham then? Because he can't possibly know what he's doing? Anyone who doesn't follow your exact morals must be criminally insane!"
"Killing people Is a crime," Bruce said, puffing himself up indignantly and refusing to wilt when met with Hyena's manic laughter.
"It's the only way to stop Some People," he said, pushing himself up again, sauntering a little closer to Bruce. "If you really want us to stop, you know how~, you nearly 'stopped' Red Hood once already."
"I'm not going to hurt him, or you," Bruce said firmly and he could have sworn Hyena looked disappointed.
"Well that's just too bad," he sighed, slumping back a little, "What, exactly did you want then?"
"I wanted to apologize," Bruce said, though it felt like pulling teeth to say as much to Hyena. "And to try and agree to a... truce. From what I've heard things have been better in Crime Alley. If we can come to an agreement-"
"The only agreement we want is for you to agree to stay the hell out of Our territory," Hyena snarled, his eyes flashing an unnatural green, "And out of our business. Red Hood is done with you, you couldn't give him what he needed anyway. You leave us alone, and we'll leave you alone, that's the truce."
"You can't expect us to just allow the crimes you are committing! The drugs, and the murder-"
"They were happening anyway. You could never get a handle on organized crime," Hyena said with a dismissive wave. "If you want any sort of relationship with your son you're going to have to accept what he's Chosen to do with his life. He's making his home a better place, and I for one, support him and Whatever he believes needs to be done."
"Even if it's-"
"Whatever needs to be done," Hyena repeated, staring him down. "There is No limit to what I would do for him."
Bruce found himself at a loss for words. Hyena could be lying, but he looked so sincere and serious. He was probably still enabling Jason's behaviour, but the hope Bruce had that Hyena was the one leading and manipulating Jason was dying a slow death. Another thing was still bothering him though. It was the way Hyena snarled, and the way his eyes glowed. When he laughed it echoed a little too, like there was a modulator but he was pretty sure it wasn't. Something was Off with Hyena.
"So, do you agree to our terms?" Hyena asked after the silence had trailed on for too long.
"I want to see Red Hood," Bruce said instead and Hyena cocked his head to the side again, looking him over.
"I'll see if he'd be willing to meet you," he sighed reluctantly.
"Alone."
"No." The denial was abrupt and immediate. Bruce did Not like it.
"That's not up to you!" Bruce growled in his most threatening 'Batman voice'.
"He is my boyfriend, My Beloved, My World! I will Not let you hurt him again!" Hyena insisted, and there was that echo again as emotion made his voice lose some of its humanity. His eyes were glowing green again as well, this time it was obvious.
Bruce stared back at him consideringly and hummed, nodding slowly. "Alright, I still want to see him," He repeated. “Even if you insist on being there.”
Hyena stared at him, then nodded slowly. "I'll talk to Hood, maybe.” He agreed, though he sounded far from convinced. “Is there anything else?" He asked, clearly exasperated.
"Hm," Bruce sounded a negative, shaking his head slightly.
"Alright, then I've got things to do," Hyena said with an insincere and mocking salute before loping over to the side of the building and vaulting over the edge, returning to Crime Alley.
Bruce only had to wait a couple minutes before he heard a grapple and Robin landed next to him. He sighed softly at Tim, who was entirely unapologetic for coming along without permission.
"So that was weird, huh?" He said with a defiant little grin.
"Hm. I think we need to call Constantine."
-----------
Constantine hated it when the Bats called him. They did it very rarely, and when they did, it meant something had gone horribly wrong. Usually, they should have called him in ages ago, but were either insisting they could handle it themselves or didn't think the problem was supernatural. So when he got a call saying he needed to come to Gotham A.S.A.P, John felt like a bowling ball had been dropped into his gut, and dropped everything to go. As much as he wanted to avoid it, avoidance would just make things worse.
He portalled to the bat cave and immediately felt that something was off, though he didn’t know what it was at first. His supernatural senses were tingling, though not in a way that indicated an imminent threat or anything. He couldn’t be sure of course, but he trusted his gut.
Batman turned towards him nodding at him in greeting, and beckoned for him to come closer to the giant computer they had in this weird cave. “There is a new masked player in Gotham,” Batman started, and Constantine nodded.
“Red Hood? I’ve heard about him.” He didn’t understand why Batman twitched slightly at the mention.
“Yes, but it’s not him I’m talking about. It’s his partner, known as Hyena. We know almost nothing about him, but we do know he has some sort of meta or magic abilities. We believe he has the potential to be even more of a threat than he first appears, and that he might be the true head of operations for Red Hood’s gang,” Bruce said opening the file on Hyena, showing a young man with black and white hair, a muzzle, and a brown, beige, and red costume that looked to be inspired by Harley Quinn and Catwoman.
There was something wrong with the man, the way his eyes reflected the light in the still Batman had paused on. Then he hit play and the video showed Hyena looking directly at the camera, his eyes flashed fully green for just a moment before the recording turned to static. That was what the human eye would see at least, Constantine could see the burst of power that had broken the electronics, it was definitely magic. “It didn’t just take out the camera. The street lights and just about every appliance on the block shorted out as well,” Batman explained.
“Huh, do you have anything of his?” Constantine asked. Batman scowled, shaking his head. That was weird, Bats were usually really good at getting samples from people. Hyena must be really careful with his DNA.
“Alright, I’ll try Scrying then,” Constantine sighed, digging in his pockets for the things he’d need to set up the spell. “Alright, this should show us a bit more about him,” Constantine said as Batman came closer to watch him activate the spell.
But it did not work as it was intended to, in fact, something happened that Constantine had never seen before. The spell blew up. And not just a little, the blast of green energy knocked Constantine back flat on his ass, leaving him gaping at the place the spell circle had been, now a scorched patch on the floor still crackling with vivid green energy.
“What does that mean?” Batman growled, snapping Constantine out of his daze.
He leapt up to his feet with an indignant yelp, “What that means, is that Hyena is something you should not be messing with! With that sort of power coming through just a Scrying spell if that thing is keeping to Crime Alley and only killing a few people you’re damn lucky!” He insisted furiously, only to receive a disbelieving hum from Batman.
“You haven’t seen him. The spell could have failed for a different reason,” He stated, as if he knew anything at all about magic!
“Ohh, no! I have done this spell hundreds of times! If it failed, it just wouldn’t have shown anything. It worked, and the amount of power that came through shorted the spell!” Constantine reiterated with growing frustration, pointing accusingly at Batman, “Leave it alone!”
“Hyena is causing problems in my city, I will not leave it alone. What can you tell me about him? What is he?” Batman asked stubbornly.
“Absolutely fuck all! The spell has never reacted like that, and I don’t know the energy signature. Besides Powerful, I know nothing about them!”
“Hm. He and Hood agreed to meet me tonight. You will be coming with me,” Batman decided. It wasn’t a question, but Constantine made an X motion with his hands anyway.
“Nooo, no no no! Absolutely not! I’m not going anywhere near this!” Constantine denied immediately, but the stubborn set of Batman’s jaw said that he was not getting out of this, not without serious consequences.
“Hm,” Batman sounded, staring Constantine down, who tried to withstand, truly he did! But, well, the devil he knew was better than the devil he didn’t.
“Fine!” Constantine threw his hands up in the air furiously. “I’ll go, but if we die it’s your fault!”

One of the biggest criticisms of Jason Todd I see is his actions in Green Arrow volume 3 (I know I'm talking about it despite the fact we're all sick of hearing about it, bear with me), specifically when he kidnaps Mia Dearden.
Everyone is very quick to point out that Jason is not the good guy in this comic, and they're right. He's very clearly a villain and an asshole. But it drives me NUTS when people say he tried to kill Mia because no? He literally did not? That's the fucking point????
He kidnaps Mia, brings her to her high-school, shoots at her a bunch, and gives her a lecture on her non-lethal methods. Then he blows up her school with her still trapped inside (more on this later).
A bit earlier in the same issue, Batman is talking to Green Arrow about how Jason is making a point. He thinks Jason is making a point to him (Bruce), and that may be true, but Jason is also clearly making a point to Mia.
Mia tells Jason he doesn't know her, which he then disproves by rattling off all the facts on her life he was able to dig up. He's showing her that even as Speedy, she's still vulnerable, and she always will be unless she gets more lethal. (This is not true, but Jason thinks it is)
Then, he blows up the school with Mia "trapped" inside. The quotation are there because in the next page and a half when Mia shows up, she straight up says Jason may have let her escape. It's an obvious parallel to Jason's death, but this one has a happier ending. He didn't want her to learn the "lesson" he learned the hard way (by dying), so he let her go.
TLDR: Jason didn't want to kill Mia, he wanted to prove to her that this sidekick-for-a-billionare thing is a losing game.

part two of my magic batman magical au, here's part one:
Ok so we last left off with Bruce grieving Jason Todd, swearing he'll never take in another apprentice and isolating himself from his clan, substantially weakening Gotham's defences against malicious mages while Barbara desperately tries to get a hold of the city. Dick is currently in between getting his life together in the sister city Bludhaven after helping his friends during multiple travels around the world when suddenly Haley's Circus comes into town.
That's where Tim Drake decides to do something. The only heir to a new money family, Tim's parents weren't mages, his dad had a basic understanding of time magic while his mom was relatively good with ilusory magic but they never pursuit it over the passion of their life, archeology. Tim, however, always loved magic, loved the way mages would make miracles out of the ordinary and loved the way it tested the impossible. Tim loved the Clan of The Bats. He always did, ever since he was a child and first saw the beauty of Haley's Circus, when he saw The Flying Graysons for the first time.
A Lonely Place of Dying goes about the same way, the same with Rite Of Passage, except when Bruce screamed that the water was poisonous, Jack managed to reverse time around him for a few seconds in a powerful fit of desperation to save Janet's life, not caring about actually reversing time for himself though. So, both of Tim's parents end up in coma, Tim, now accepted as Bruce's newest apprentices, moves into the manor and formally starts training.
Unfortunately, Tim doesn't have the early training of Dick, nor the raw talent of Jason, so he struggles finding an affinity. Bruce decides to send him on a three week trip to Paris to train with his old teachers, The Rahul Lama, hopefully to get a new perspective and find what he's comfortable with. He does spend two weeks trying his best but ultimately failing before he gets pulled into a full blown conspiracy.
Lady Shiva decides to train him while they're at it, and for some reason, something just clicks. Her methods and way of seeing magic just works really well with Tim. When their manhunt against Edmund Dorrance is done, Shiva finally gets a lead on something she's been searching for a while, and Tim tags along with her mission while she teaches the path of ilusory magic, of perceiving into someone's mind and changing it to your will. It just turns out that the something was actually someone...
Flash forward, we have exact the point in which the story starts, with Tim arriving into Gotham Harbor, two months late with a girl, apparently Lady Shiva's daughter who currently doesn't have a name. Bruce almost has a heart attack, both extremely relieved that Tim is safe but also it's been two months who is this-
Cassandra – as Barbara would go on to name her – was a mage prodigy, being trained since the moment she was born to be a perfect weapon by her father. She had a very good understanding of all attributes of magic, with amazing spatial awareness and downright telepathic intuitive perception, at the cost of no understanding of language. Shiva mentioned something about a League of Shadows, but Tim isn't really sure what it is exactly, just that they wanted Cass to join them, but after killing someone for the first time and accidentally stealing their soul, she started to run away from them, mostly living in the streets before a friend of Shiva's found her in Hong Kong. Her and Tim are mostly attached at the hip to each other, inseparable.
Bruce and Barbara decided it would be safer and less stressful for Cass if she lived in the Clocktower instead of having to live in the manor. Time mostly passes without many events after that, with most of their focus being to make sure Cass adjusts well to Gotham and find ways to communicate with her. That is, until Tim stalked one of Bruce's missions despite being benched and met – promptly being hit in the face by a brick – Stephanie Brown.
She was a self taught prodigy of time magic, daughter of a lesser death mage, she was hellbent on spoiling all of her father's plans. Bruce didn't really like her motivation to practice magic, and did his best to try to get her to give up.
Tim and Steph quickly became close to each other, and as weeks passed it became clear that she wasn't going to leave the streets of Gotham no matter what. Bruce was peer pressured by everyone in his life to also accept Steph as an apprentice and actually train her before she got really hurt.
And so, The House of The Bat got three new mage students from very different backgrounds. (I like to think the vibes of the story sometimes are very much like Witch's Hat Atelier) Considering that Barbara has a litteral wizard's tower, she's usually the one who's trying to make sure each one of them goes though their mage's journey safely. She's helping them get a understanding of magic and of their affinity, her classes are very challenging, but not impossible.
Tim leans into Ilusory magic – I think him and Bruce should get pretty similar magic, but while Bruce leans into deceiving, Tim likes to perceive and understand other's mind – Steph gets better and better in Time magic, and to complement the two, Cass starts to study Physical magic.
Just thinking of three mage apprentices running away from rogues, getting into trouble and taking down magical mobsters during the night and having to study grueling hours of torture with Barbara. Thinking of Dick abducting them to a impromptu practical class (Babs is going to murder him). Thinking of Bruce having to deal with three children and messing up so much.
Thinking of Stephanie's death and how hard it would affect Tim and Cass. Thinking of Tim finding a mysterious book in his birthday presents, one that's written in some parts in a cypher that uses a combination of mandarin and arabic he spends months trying to solve. It is a necromancy guide, gifted out of indulging the question of what the little bats would do with it. After all, you only need a basic ritual and a death mage with a soul under their name.
A soul for a soul, an equal exchange.

The Playlist : of Jason Todd
Tumblr media
Compilation of Songs that just embody Jason Todd – what it feels to be him and what it means to love him. ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿
THE LONELIEST by Måneskin
“You’ll be the saddest part of me, a part of me that will never be mine. It’s obvious.
Tonight is gonna be the loneliest.
You’re still the oxygen I breathe, I see your face when I close my eyes. It’s torturous.
Tonight is gonna be the loneliest”
The pain felt by Jason’s lover when he is killed - still longing for him despite his death, an unwillingness to move on from the ghost of him.  OR The pain felt as Jason endures an inescapable desire that can never be fulfilled at the loss of his lover. Either by death or separation.  Longing for his lover – haunted by their absence.
Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World
“And if you were with me tonight
I'd sing to you just one more time
A song for a heart so big
God wouldn't let it live”
Grieving, Jason’s lover processes his death. Saddened by his absence, longing to be with him again just for one moment more. But having to move on to live in honour of all that made him so great.
Roots by Imagine Dragons
“Had to lose my way to know which road to take
Trouble found me, all I look forward
Washed away by a wave
I'm going back to my roots
Another day, another door, Another high, another low”
Jason has resurrected and has now taken to the streets as the vigilante under the Red Hood. Unable to leave that life behind – He deals with the crime of Gotham with a brutality and efficiency unlike Batman and the Robin he once was. He becomes his own person. Unpredictable and chaotic as he finds his footing again.
If I Killed Someone for You by Alec Benjamin
“You have to understand that
The one I killed is me
Changing what I was
For what you wanted me to be
I followed your direction, Did everything you asked
I hope that makes you happy
'Cause there's just no turning back”
A deep dive into Jason’s torn emotions, from his desire for acceptance as a child to becoming Robin wanting approval from Bruce. The inner turmoil he holds from his death to his resurrection, to the methods he takes when cleaning the streets of Gotham - a point of no return even if he wanted to. As the boy he once was, has died.
Broken Machine by Nothing but Thieves
“Take a little spark, From a battery,
Electricity
And put me back together, Back together, yeah
Take a human heart, Add some vanity, Authenticity
And put them all together
Do whatever
To your broken machine”
After coming back from the dead, Jason struggles with a sense of identity. He has a deep longing to return to the person he once was – whether through means of acceptance or love. He personally does not know how as he seeks for another to cure his emotional numbness.  He feels incomplete after his resurrection.
Abstract (Psychopomp) by Hozier
“I will not be great, but I’m grateful to get through
The feeling came late, I’m still glad I met you
The memory hurts, but does me no harm, your hand in my pocket to keep us both warm”
Jason struggles with feelings of not living up to who he could be – his past actions weighing upon him like a blanket of guilt that never leaves. He appreciates the love he is given despite this. Grateful for their acceptance of him. The haunting events of his death and resurrection a painful emotional scar that stays with him  – in times of struggle his lover is there to anchor him in the present moment, a comfort in the chaos of his mind. Guiding him to a place of rest. Psychopomp : The spiritual guide of a living person’s soul
***
“Sometimes there’s thought, like you choose what you’re doing
But it comes to naught when I look back through it
I remember the view, street lights in the dark blue
The moment I knew I’d no choice but to love you”
Some things in life are inevitable – as Jason falls deeper. No matter what actions he may take to shield himself or protect his lover by not indulging in their love.  He realises he can’t deny his love. Embracing his lover’s acceptance and care.
NFWMB by Hozier
“If I was born as a blackthorn tree
I'd wanna be felled by you
Held by you
Fuel the pyre of your enemies”
Jason’s pure devotion and willingness to sacrifice for the sake of his lover’s protection. His desire to serve them completely & wholly. He will be his lover’s protector, submitting to their needs as he craves to be cared for by them. Loyal to his lover.
Impossible by Nothing but Thieves
“I’ll take the smooth with the rough. Feels so fucked up to be in love.
Another day, another night
Stuck in my own head but you pull me out
You pull me out
I could drown myself in someone like you
I could dive so deep I never come out
I thought it was impossible
But you make it possible.”
There’s an acceptance of everything good and bad that comes from loving Jason. For Jason the act of loving another is messy and overwhelming - but his lover always provides him relief from his inner turmoil. They love each other entirely and truly.  Something he never thought possible, or worthy of having.
Gotta be Somebody by Nickelback
“Tonight, out on the street, out in the moonlight
And dammit, this feels too right
It's just like déjà vu
Me, standing here with you
So I'll be holding my breath, could this be the end?
Is it that moment when I find the one that I'll spend forever with?”
He never thought it possible. Never thought himself capable or deserving of love. But his lover is real, they’re there for him. He will never be alone again.
I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE by Måneskin
“I wanna make your heartbeat run like rollercoasters
I wanna be a good boy, I wanna be a gangster
'Cause you could be the beauty and I could be the monster
I love you since this morning, not just for aesthetic”
Their love is a never ending passion for one another. A relationship of highs and lows. Loving Jason while tender and gentle – it is also intense and unconventional. A love so deep, so true and meaningful it’ll never fade.
Monster by Imagine Dragons
“If I told you what I was, would you turn your back on me?
And if I seem dangerous
Would you be scared?
I get the feeling just because, Everything I touch isn't dark enough
That this problem lies in me”
Fearing rejection from his lover – these feelings of self-doubt rears its ugly head and makes Jason feel unworthy. Fearing that he is inherently flawed as he continues to feel out of place. A consistent struggle he must work his way through, with self acceptance and time.
Kindly Calm Me Down by Megan Trainor
“When my world gets loud, could you make it quiet down?
When my head, it pounds, could you turn down all the sound?
If I lay in pain, by my side would you stay?
If I need you now, would you kindly calm me down?
His lover is Jason’s safe space. When his world is chaotic and his intrusive thoughts cloud his mind – his lover is his peace and stability. He is given the space to be vulnerable with them, to let down his guard and be comforted.
‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿

Rules
Chapter 1
Summary: When Jason hears tell of child trafficking, he is there ready to let heads roll. He's already dropped a number in a bag to make a point, now he's just building the reputation until he's ready to tell the Bat he's back.
Until he discovers who the child being trafficked is.
Jason has to remind himself of Red Hood's rules.
Rating Mature

Excerpt:
Jason sat carefully in the rafters, watching the ordeal below, wishing for once that people could pick a place besides some random sketchy warehouse to do their dirty business. He’d heard whispers that there may be something here he didn’t approve of. Not a lot of hint on what, no one could really say. Which was annoying.
But this territory was his.
He’d thought the bag of heads had told everyone that when he arrived.
It wasn’t like it had been that long, really. He hadn’t even gotten his plans going properly yet. He was still consolidating power. Building the ranks of his new gang. The things that came with being a crime lord, really. Besides being trigger happy, but again, bag of heads. That should show people that he could plan methodically when he wanted to. It had made the green that liked to dance in his vision happy too, so it was a win all around.
So the plans were moving along like they should. He was gathering his intelligence, his power. Turning Crime Alley into something slightly safer. No drugs for kids. No trading in humans. The basics, really.

Jason Todd x Hero!Reader: Not good enough (Part 2)
Warning: mentions of killing and jealousy
You two decide to still try dating even if your methods are different. Things are good right now you two help each other deal with crimes while cuddling up with a book off-duty. However, this honeymoon phase would come to an end when you met some of the people Jason works with mainly his exes. First was Rose Wilson whom you met on one mission to find the Joker. She was still flirty with Jason even though they had broken up and he was with you.
Plus, being trained by Slade and having the ability to see into the future makes her more valuable as a teammate with the ability to kill too. You also found out he once kissed Barbara Gordon too those she rejected him it still stings since she is a member of Jason's adopted family. He had hook-ups with Starfire, Talia al-Ghoul, and a flight attendant named Isabel. All of them are put to shame when compared to the Amazon known as Artemis, a Red-headed bombshell of a woman whose strength matches her beauty. Anyone would be jealous of whoever dating her so this didn’t make you feel better since many still feel Artemis is Jason's true love.
You try to forget all of this since you are Jason's partner now. You can’t help but wonder why he wanted you at all. Most of these girls had a theme of either redheads or killers themselves. You are what people call a goody two-shoe. Not someone who kills villains or breaks rules.
You just don’t think killing should be the only answer to handle a criminal. Jason sometimes jokes you sound like Batman which doesn’t help since he usually gets into heated fights with his adopted father. This feeling of insecurity and jealousy has started to affect your life to the point you can’t do your daily reading session with Jason or even want to cuddle with him. “Ok, what's wrong?” He asked, dang of course he could tell something wrong as someone raised by Batman. “It's nothing” you replied but he didn’t believe you.

The Assassination of President Luthor by the Radical Lonnie Machin by NiteWrighter "Hi. I’m Lonnie. So I guess I should start out by saying, I don’t believe violence is a sustainable tool. It’s not. It’s a reflection of our ugliest, most base instincts. But it is the current language of the state, so I apologize for bringing my voice to the conversation."
President Luthor has been brutally killed by a magical weapon, and Anarky has claimed responsibility. The Justice League is struggling with the ensuing fallout, instability, suspicion, and speculation, while a power vacuum opens up in the world of the Rogues. The Half-Life of Sixty Seconds by sunnymusings "The problem with thinking like a detective is not actually that thinking like one is too strict or structured. There’s organization on a document, but Tim’s mind is not a bullet journal. It’s not a legal form, it’s not a spreadsheet, it’s not a ledger.
It’s messy and human and creative. Loose, unstructured, instinctual. Detectives aren’t good at solving cases because they work like machines; it’s much the opposite. It’s that creative mess which aids in seeing between the structure of presented facts, reading the code, and then cracking it. It’s like tracing a spider web back to its center. There’s an observable track leading exactly where one needs to go— a veritable method to the madness— but it’s still art, all the same, even to the broom that ruins it.
So, when Tim is presented with a countdown, it’s not just a mechanical, factual understanding of time that pushes hard against the inside of his ribs; it’s a too-clear visual of a digital clock-face, neutral and unyielding, counting down from sixty in his neocortex. Artistic and messy and emotional.
There is only one place to go once one is caught in the web."

Nothing to Nobody by Jae_Cillian The kid—Jason—stared at Slade with wide, alert eyes. Big and round like a doe—startled in its grazing, frozen in the sights of a predator. He leaned forward, one hand still gripping the pistol but the other anchoring his weight against the floor as if to stand and chase after Slade. But with Slade’s eye on him, Jason didn’t dare move an inch. All tense lines and silent shudders of breath that Slade could see quake along the kid’s ribs, Jason reminded Slade of a stray dog. Snarling and snapping its canines when he got too close, but whimpering and whining when he walked away.
Slade wondered how long it’d take to tame the kid; and, thereupon, realized he might enjoy the challenge of it.

garrus's position as what is essentially a police officer puts him in the line of fire of various tired copaganda tropes. worthy of note is the "cowboy cop" trope, which can be summarized as a renegade police officer who breaks the rules in favor of vengeance, justice, or righteousness. the "cowboy cop" is usually framed as being in the right; this trope largely belongs to antiheroes. "cowboy cop" is considered by tvtropes to apply to both garrus vakarian and renegade shepard. garrus, though noted as being more "polite and soft-spoken" than those the trope generally applies to, is a character who defies authority and values his own sense of justice above the law. he voices his preference for killing criminals rather than letting them slip away. his personal quest in me2 is heavily related to this - he seeks to hunt down and kill a man who he perceives (whether or not he is correct is not relevant; all that's relevant is that garrus believes wholeheartedly in this conviction and this method of justice) was responsible for horrific human rights abuses. as a paragon or renegade shepard, you can either aid garrus in this or stay his hand and insist that you seek another more measured form of justice.
garrus has, by this point in the narrative, essentially become a vigilante. he is a dog with a bone when it comes to his view of justice, and he is not capable of letting an investigation go because beureaucracy - or hierarchy - dictates he must. this is why he quits c-sec, so that he can chase justice along shepard's side. after shepard and him are separated, garrus, rather than resuming a c-sec career, decides to go clean up crime on omega. he is granted the nickname archangel. these exploits nearly get him killed - it is only shepard's intervention (which occurs just in the nick of time) which save him from near-certain death. even with shepard's help, he does not leave omega unscathed - he has, by the end of his recruitment mission, taken a rocket to the face, and for the rest of the game series, carries those scars.
garrus's story would not be terribly out of place in gotham, though its politics differ from batman's. the "cowboy cop" trope doesn't technically apply to bruce wayne. bruce wayne's vigilantism, gothic or not, is shown to be directly in community with police. batman serves the empire in which he lurks. batman may take issue with some corruption in that system, but he naively believes in good cops. batman is elevated by one thing only - his refusal to kill. that said, he is happy to hand victims of his justice to institutions that will kill.
garrus vakarian has oft been called the batman of his universe, but should instead be likened to jason todd, aka red hood. red hood is fuelled by anger at a system that failed him, and seeks to work outside of that system. however, even in working outside of that system, jason carries the system's view of justice with him when he dispenses his own violent form of vigilante justice. red hood fights the same people that batman fights - the only difference, really, is that jason fights with bullets rather than batarangs.
garrus's motivations are alleged to be a desire to stand against and work independently of corruption. and to be clear, taking a stance against corrupt police is good. violence against corruption is good. violence against police is good. however, based on garrus's aims and actions, it seems clear that garrus is not against policing, nor is he necessarily against corruption in all its forms. garrus is instead against being controlled. garrus would like to step outside of the system, but unwittingly brings the system with him when he makes that move. quoting from tvtropes:
Paragon Shepard's influence can inspire [garrus] to rejoin C-Sec with a new appreciation for playing by the rules, in addition to reapplying for Spectre candidacy (which happens either route you take). Renegade Shepard's influence, conversely, will encourage his tendencies to the extent that he envies Shepard's lack of problems with red tape.
garrus's frustration may be with c-sec and corruption within c-sec in part, but garrus is distinguished from corrupt officers only through his disdain for anything he perceives as leashing him. it's made clear by his respect for renegade shepard and the ability of a pro-police paragon shepard to sway him back c-sec's way that garrus is more than fine with the police. his disdain for them is in no way radical. it should also be noted that garrus leaves c-sec to serve the alliance military, who are enforcing laws in their own right. garrus simply moves to doing the same things he's always done in proverbial international waters.
characters like garrus and bruce wayne (and, for that matter, jason todd) act with authority based on their own convictions. because they operate within stories and are intended as sympathetic characters, their convictions go largely unquestioned by the narrative. batman is right because he's batman. red hood is right because he's red hood, except when batman is right instead. shepard is right because they're shepard. garrus is right because he's garrus, except when shepard is right instead. the question mass effect really poses in garrus's arm of the story is as follows: should garrus dispense violence for the system within the system, or should he dispense violence for the system while pretending he exists outside of it?
