T is for Tuatara The Tuatara is a sports car designed, developed and manufactured by SSC North America. Jason Castriota was a part of the design collaboration, so it is easy to see where it gets it's good looks - he has an impressive resume and has designed for Gruppo Bertone, Pininfarina, Saab and Ford. After being initally introduced with a 6.9 liter twin-turbo V8, the engine displacement was later reduced to a 5.9 liter in order to allow for a higher redline. SSC claims that the Tuatara produces 1,350hp (1,750hp on E85) with a 300 mph top speed. The successor to the SSC Ultimate Aero, the name Tuatara come from the unique reptile, found only in New Zealand, known for having the fastest molecular evolution of any living animal. Limited to only 100 units - if you ever see one of these, make sure to cherish the moment, because you might not ever see one again! #ssctuatara #36daysoftype #36daysoflettering #typography #instacars #graphicdesign #carguys #carguy #ssc #shelbysupercars #ultimateaero #tuatar #300mph #twinturbo #v8 https://www.instagram.com/p/CkG0mnmPQ3g/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Bertone Mantide
The Bertone Mantide was a Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR1-based supercar that debuted in 2009. While there were plans to build 10 of them at one point, the firm only completed one of them. Stile Bertone's Jason Castriota was primarily responsible for the Mantide's rakish look. The front end features hard creases and retains the ZR1's clear panel in the hood that shows off the supercharged engine. The styling really gets wild towards the rear where big flying buttresses attach the fenders to the B-pillar. At the tail, there's a prominent triangular element that creates a Kammback rear. As a final bit of flash, there are butterfly doors. The mechanical aspects of the Mantide come straight from the ZR1. The car has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and six-speed manual. Carbon-ceramic brakes help when slowing down. Because all of the body panels are carbon fiber, the Bertone weighs around 220 pounds (100 kilograms) less than the Corvette donor car. The diet improves performance by letting the Mantide reach 60 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 218 mph (351 kph).

The SSC Tuatara is a sports car designed, developed and manufactured by American automobile manufacturer SSC North America (formerly Shelby SuperCars Inc.). The car is the successor to the Ultimate Aero and is the result of a design collaboration between Jason Castriota and SSC. Initially powered by a 6.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the capacity of the engine was later reduced to 5.9 liters in order to allow the engine to have a higher redline of 8,800 rpm.[2] SSC had stated that the power output would be rated at 1,350 hp (1,007 kW; 1,369 PS) or 1,750 hp (1,305 kW; 1,774 PS) on E85 fuel, along with a 300+ mph top speed.

We all know Hennessey with their Venom F5 are gunning for the record breaking 300mph mark in the not too distant. However, they have a direct rival that doesn’t come from one of the big name manufacturers, but instead another custom American supercar builder: SSC (formerly Shelby Supercars) has brought a preproduction hypercar called the Tuatara to the playing field. With over 1750hp from an engine not so different to the Texans twin turbo V8, it may be this that breaks the record! Not a bad look either, coming from Jason Castriota, who designed the 599, GranTurismo and mr Glickenhaus’ Ferrari P4/5. @pebblebeachconcours @pebblebeachresorts @ssc_northamerica @shelbyamerican ______________________________________ #carweekforever #montereycarweek #montereycarweek2018 #carweek #carweek2018 #monterey #california #pebblebeachconcours #concoursdelegance #pebblebeachconcours2018 #ssc #sscnorthamerica #shelbysupercars #jasoncastriota #ssctuatara #tuatara #blakejphoto (at Pebble Beach Concours Delegance) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnF5mjdgEMR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8p864816khm

Tuatara achieved its dominant speeds thanks to a host of features working in harmony, including: Peerless Aerodynamics: Designed in partnership with world-renowned designer Jason Castriota of Castriota Design, the Tuatara’s design achieved an all-time production-hypercar best coefficient of drag of 0.279. From 150–330 mph, the car maintained a perfect aerodynamic balance of 37% front and 63% rear, ensuring precision downforce across all four wheels. Unprecedented Drivetrain: SSC’s V8 powerplant was developed and built in collaboration with Tom Nelson of Nelson Racing Engines. The bespoke 5.9L twin-turbo, flat-plane crank engine produces 1,750 horsepower while using E85, and 1,350 horsepower on 91 Octane. That power is transferred to a CIMA 7-Speed computerized manual transmission working in unison with a state-of-the-art Automac AMT system that operates the engagement and selection of movement in the gearbox. Safety: The Tuatara’s robust carbon-fiber monocoque provides vital safety to the driver, and lightweight enough to ensure peak performance. Crash structures across the car generate superior shock-absorbing protection. https://www.instagram.com/p/CGxmVPPnoJY/?igshid=167y2w4xspe3g

Ford Thunderbird E, 202?. Ford has applied to trademark the Thunderbird name. The trademark was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on January 13, 2021 and would be applied to “motor vehicles, namely concept motor vehicles; four-wheeled motor vehicles.” Jason Castriota, Ford’s global brand director for battery electric vehicles, has recently said in an interview that the the company plans to utilise heritage names for future electric vehicles.
