Idea 1

William is at the diner A LOT yeah? So say bunny’s last class happens to get canceled. It’s the middle of the week, and they still has a couple days before the weekend. But they miss him! So what else is there to do besides pay the “famous” diner a visit.

It was a surprising slow day, and maybe you even meet henry, who calls willy over. Then henry the unintentional matchmaker has to leave to do something idk, and leaves you and Willy alone together because the next shift worker hadn’t arrived yet. So peepaw shows you the back, and his office. And he just looks so good today, and he smells just so intoxicating, and you just need him! he takes his little bunny, places them on his desk, and has his way with them. How could he resist when you ask him so sweetly?

Idea 2

Maybe this is just me, but I could absolutely see bunny working at like a retro 50s inspired diner thing, where all the waitstaff wear skates, and they have those adorable uniforms. Imagine if Willy found this out, either by eating there or you mentioning it, and he sees his bunny wearing that uniform and it looks DELECTABLE on them. And now he NEEDS a taste.

Just him fucking his precious, stunning little rabbit who had no business looking as cute as they did in their uniform

i dont wanna give away too much because your first idea is something somewhat similar to something that happens in part 6 of the peepaw chronicles,, but let me sit down and put my bib in for your other idea

honestly i think seeing his bunny in like ANY type of uniform would get Will going. He normally only ever sees you in your pajamas when you come over or nothing at all so seeing his bunny in something more dolled-up is a pleasant surprise. I can also see a scenario in which he totally finds out about your little job totally by accident

like because he shares the CEO position with Henry in their businesses, they often get ppl that invite them out to lunch to try and butter them up and sell them something or get them to sell part of the franchise. One day during the middle of the week where will doesn't get to see you normally, missing his lil rabbit like always, he and Henry get invited out to some cheap diner at the other end of town themed like the 50s

Will isnt very impressed by this and neither is Henry, but they decide to go anyway because the other ppl might have smth interesting to offer them. The diner was kinda slow anyway, so why not?

but oh my GOD?? imagine Will's surprise when he sits down with the group of men, and none other than his sweet little bunny comes out in such an adorable little outfit to take everyone's order. William has to try and remain professional, and act like he's never met you before, but damn it's hard. It gets really hot in that diner really quickly, and very uncomfortable to sit down. He can see you trying to save-face too, acting like you don't know him and aren't embarrassed to have your job ousted like this. But it only adds to Will's excitement.

Why would you hide something like this from him, bunny? There's nothing to be embarrassed of.

He can only hope you get the hint when he gives you a look before excusing himself to the bathroom.

Sha’re’s funeral litany

So I was curious about a scene in “Forever in a Day,” when Daniel Jackson is speaking a funeral litany over the grave of Sha’re, because it’s an extended depiction of an alien language--which is surprisingly rare in Stargate SG-1, especially in the early seasons, and especially for a language that is not Goa’uld or Ancient. The former is totally invented, and the latter is just randomly-mangled Latin words, but the language of Abydos, where Sha’re is from and where she is being buried, is supposedly closely related to ancient Egyptian.

The litany is below; I have done my very best to transcribe the Abydonian portions using IPA.

I speak for Sha’re, who can no longer speak for herself.

Two things immediately stand out in this scene: one, of course, is the trial of the feather, which is taken from the Book of the Dead. The other is a quote from the Solar Litany, also from the Book of the Dead:

Homage to you, O ye gods of the Dekans in Anu, and to you, O ye Hememet-spirits in Kher Aha, and to thee, O Unti, who art the most glorious of all the gods who are hidden in Anu, O grant thou unto me a path whereover I may pass in peace, for I am just and true; I have not spoken falsehood wittingly, nor have I done aught with deceit.

Budge transliterates the bolded portion thus: nuk āq ȧn t'eṭ-ȧ ḳer em reχ-ȧ ȧn ȧri-ȧ sep sen. I don’t know how that would be transcribed by modern Egyptologists, because Budge uses <ȧ> where modern transcriptions sometimes use <j> and sometimes use <y>; ditto <χ> for Budge vs. modern <ḫ> and <ẖ>. All I can say is, it’s pretty clearly not the basis for any of the Abydonian phrases.

It’s not Ancient Egyptian, but it’s actually a pretty good approximation of the sounds of ancient Egyptian, at least in its Egyptological pronunciation. Accounting for Michael Shanks’/Daniel Jackson’s North American accent, where [r] is rendered [ɹ], and the closest approximations of [e] are going to be [eɪ] or [ɛ], depending on if the syllable is open or closed, I might transcribe the underlying theoretical Abydonian as

3. What is your favorite line of narration?

ajdkl;jasf;ld obviously this answer (and my answer to number 4) is me picking one of many many favorites because i love all of it?? but really it's this:

She takes a deep breath, letting the river breeze wash over her, lift the curls that have escaped their pins and set them gently back down again. It feels like a caress, like Luke is there, helping her find the words.

4. What is your favorite line of dialogue?

it is too hard to choose bethany it is too hard!!! i went back to this exchange from chapter 3, because it's such a lovely story that ray tells, how love blooms in the most unexpected ways ;;_;;

“I didn’t say anything, of course. She was the daughter of a duke, and I was a portrait artist. It could never be. So I pushed the feelings aside and finished the portrait. And when I unveiled it—that was the first time I ever saw her completely still. I still remember, she fell silent and I thought she hated it. But then—” Ray pauses, and Reggie sees that the Marquess has tears brimming in his eyes. “Then she reached out a hand and touched the curve of her own face that I painted. Her voice went very quiet, and she said—and I will never forget this—she said ‘I have never seen myself like this. Is this how you see me, Mr. Molina?’ And there was this note of hope in her voice, like she wanted the answer to be yes so badly.” “What did you say to her?” Reggie says, completely spellbound. “Do you know, I don’t even remember, because that is when she kissed me.” “She kissed you?!” Reggie exclaims, now on the edge of the velvet armchair seat, and Ray is smiling fully now.

“She did indeed. It turns out the whole time I was looking at her, I never realized: she was looking back.”

i also love the exchange between jane & julie in chapter 10; i remember reading it aloud a few times in what i heard as jane's accent and julie's, just so i got the rhythm and cadence i wanted

9. Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

hmmm at one point early early in the process reggie's mom was involved, like gossiping about how eligible julie was, but it didn't really fit. and then i killed her off, sorry first lady peters, because reggie not wanting to carry on the legacy of his parents became more important.

more complexly: jay (@where-you-go) and i were chatting about flso once (as we do) and she was like: what if julie didn't have reggie to save her from that match? what if the boys weren't gentry, but the musicians they are in their souls? like traveling bards/musicians who were hired to play at a party or whatever at the duke of covington's sprawling estate. and they meet the duchess covington, who is a ghost of a woman, sad, trapped, psychologically broken down. and they win her over, they make her smile for the first time in months, and over the course of a few days she realizes: she can't stay. she has to run, and she wants to be with them. and willie is also there, with his own psychological damage from being caleb's ward, and at first he and julie are suspicious of each other, in that household where no one can trust anyone, but then of course alex happens, and willie is a good person so he helps and runs away with them too.

11: What do you like best about this fic?

oh gosh. you know...i think that it's about Adulthood, in a way? like it's post-canon, it's canon compliant (technically lol) but: what happens to these characters we love when adulthood complicates things? like sometimes you find love in the midst of grief and you don't even notice. sometimes you fuck up big time. sometimes you feel like you're still 22 and stupid but you have crow's feet and gray hair poking through and fucking bills to pay and gosh, wouldn't it just be so nice if you could see dr. turner on the regular, except she's a pediatric psychologist julie, you're thirty years old.

yeah, i think that i like that it's very specifically about discovering thirty and beyond, and about second loves.

12: What do you like least about this fic?

i...genuinely don't know! i love this fic a lot, it means a lot to me. i think maybe that i subjected alex and willie to the crossing over, hahahahaha. but reggie had to be Totally Alone, you know? it doesn't work if it's just luke.

i think maaaaybe if i were reworking it (which i'm not, i love it the way it is) i might stretch the timeline out a bit? like have alex cross a bit later time-wise? stretch things out a bit? but i think it works either way
