Can we talk a bit about using what you have on hand to make something unexpected and wonderful? This little kitchen magic all started with my last jar of spiced poached pears, (swipe to see the progress) which I puréed to use for baking quick-breads and to also accompany our breakfast oatmeal and yogurt. Then, the light syrup (450 ml) from the jar was reduced to a syrup, which was then used to sweeten my batch of granola so I could save my dwindling supply of maple syrup.
