we'll start with 1800s betty. potentially it could have a little arc where jughead helps archie do some sleuthing to find out what happened to veronica after archie died, and they could find out (via cheryl because yk family history) that veronica opened her own business and lived for years and years with her close best friend, cheryl's great great great whatever aunt betty, in a one bedroom flat and adopted two cats. i could give cheryl a line about "of course that means they were lesbians" and then jughead would have to explain to archie that his dead ex gf was bisexual + i could write a cute 1800s beronica romance prequel if i was so posessed

or

betty was jugheads childhood best friend, they're very close and there could be like minor crush territory. she could be cheryl's cousin and although the bughead would not be endgame i do like them quite a lot so there would probably be some of that. i just like betty tons and i wanna write her and cheryl and their dynamic because it's hilarious to plusssss it would be fun if she had more presence in the story. downside is that i'm unsure how i'd end up resolving her arc and doing her justice with so much else going on

7. if you could pick, what ships would you make endgame?

as a jarchie longcon truther and a professional gay man I feel like it has to be jarchie. but id also enjoy having fangs/toni, veronica/reggie, kevin/clay, and betty/murdering someone finally be endgame.

10. which episode is your favorite?

oh. oh dear god. it's either the hills have eyes or citizen lodge, but i might be leaning a little closer to citizen lodge due to the immense depth it provides hiram's character with. I also have a lot of thoughts on a russian doll style timeloop au surrounding veronica and the plot of citizen lodge, as well as a lot of thoughts on reggie and his parallels to hiram.

14. which amv is your favorite?

since I've already said both the brand new city and runs in the family amvs Id have to go with the archie lighthouse amv. I can't listen to that song without thinking of archie anymore and the amv is such a good distillation of his character throughout the show.

🖇️: okay so this idea is actually inspired by a discussion topic from a philosophy class i took so it's a little weird and angsty BUT it's a sci-fi/dystopian au where people use teleportation devices like the ones in star trek and person a, who's used the teleportation device in the past, dies for unrelated reasons (maybe a hovercraft crash or a plague or something idk yet) and their significant other, person b, who's half-mad with grief, breaks into the records of the company who makes the teleportation devices and gets the data for the exact molecular make-up of person a and makes it materialize on one of the transport pads, "bringing them back to life". *however*this is a past version of person a since it's been a minute since they used teleportation (i haven't decided how long yet, at least a few months i think) and so they think they're going to, like, visit their mom or whatever but then they teleport into a scene where their bf's getting dragged away by security and it's x months/years later. cue the realization that a version of themselves actually died, blah blah blah, the question of do they have a soul comes up bc i'm me, etc etc, some other loved ones not accepting them as the "real" person a,,, it wouldn't really be a "they came back wrong" story but there would be elements of that bc regardless of how long it's been btwn the use of the teleportation device and their death, there will be memories that person b has that person a does not, and there's the classic identity crisis aspect and yeah. classic cheerful megs fic sdkljflkdsjklfjsdlkjf

so the latest episode of my favorite podcast (also the only one i listen to regularly but that's not relevant) they revealed that my favorite npc (grant wilson, son of a pc in s1 and dad of pc in s2) was transported to the titanic just b4 it hit the iceberg along with his fiance (it was either the night b4 their wedding or the day of) and that's where he found, rescued from death, and then adopted his son (lincoln, one of the player characters) and like. listen. this is The Podcast Of Wild Ass Rides(tm), after all it was only a couple arcs ago that the cast of family guy fought the fbi over who could attack the cast only for a giant flying dog to rescue the cast, brutally murdering family guy and the fbi in the process b4 flying the cast up to heaven's gates (longggg story lol), not to mention all the main characters getting married to survive the vacuum of space, HOWEVER. all of those buckwild things all had mostly reasonable explanations if you've listened to the whole show (the fbi trying to break into hell, goofs realm being a quasi-family guy reality with cursed standup, trying to rescue a half demon from the iss, that sort of thing) and the titanic is the first thing that seems to come completely out of left field. does this mean there's some great significance about the titanic that we just don't know yet??? is it supposed to tip us off to the fact that grant's husband knows more than it's seemed??? was it just to riff on the movie titanic??? who knows!!! anthony (the dm) what are you planning!!!

The anon literally said they were scared of Chonis, meaning they knew good and well that their message was dismissive to Choni and their endgame (but we’re more than used to you guys doing that, so no need to be scared of the lesbians). I don’t understand why people can’t see that not everyone views the 50s the same and everyone is going to see it differently based on their biases. Every single viewers (except maybe those weird Jarchie ones on this site that talk about “the narrative” and Vugheads) wish the characters went back to the present, including Chonis, nobody begrudges anyone for wishing that. Again, it’s your definitive dismissal of their 50s story as an AU and essentially meaningless to their overall story, as if that was canon and not just your view.

In MY view, the characters souls and bodies were sent to the 50s. Cheryl and Toni’s souls, which we saw in their raw form and attached to each other in 6x22, the same episode we were told they were soulmates and that their fate transcends time, just before they’re sent back in time. Where Roberto said they would have their emotional memories, and characters who had feelings for each other, would still feel those feelings and Toni was only interested in Cheryl. While some characters were drastically different, with personality altering backstories, or had new/fake memories of each other, Cheryl and Toni were extremely similar (a different brother really didn’t change much for Cheryl) and had no prior interaction to question how said fake or new memories shaped their story. Their dynamic and issues were the same as they were in the original timeline to prove it. And that’s not even mentioning the memories causing others to spin the block with exes but not them.

So yes, sorry, Chonis (or at least I), will never be told that their 50s story has no connection or correlation to their original story. That doesn’t mean I didn’t wish we went back to the present too, but I didn’t need it to feel closure for the original characters because I feel the 50s versions as an evolution and variant of those characters.

(And my point about the broken engagement was simply that the story ended at an engagement, not a wedding or a happily ever after, that was left unfinished due to the comet, the same way Choni’s reunion story was left unfinished due to the comet. But just like you guys focus on the engagement instead of what you didn’t see come to fruition, so do we.)

I apologize if my original ask came across as I was agreeing with anon about feeling like I was offending Chonis but that was not my intention. I in no way dismiss any aspect of their story nor am personally scared of Choni’s.

I understand what you’re saying and have repetitively said in my asks that Choni’s story makes the most sense in the 50s because of their previous soulmate/soul story. With that in mind, I understand many Choni’s love their Season 7 arc and find no criticism in that.

I still personally believe the last season *feels* like an alternative timeline when you take adult characters and rewrite them as teenagers with a new backstory. And never have them reconcile with their memories or return to the past. I understand the show portrays it differently but I will always have a hard time seeing Riverdale as linear for that reason.

But saying that doesn’t make their Season 7 story any less significant or beautiful or satisfying. And I truly believe that would’ve been their ending no matter the timeline or decade.

I still think I would’ve rather preferred to see that ending in the present and don’t think dismisses the good of their ending in the 50s. But that’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it as you are yours (about Choni and Barchie, etc).
