I always wanted foxes to be added to Minecraft, but then we got them and they were ugly as hell, so I’ve finally taken matters into my own hands. I think it’s quite the improvement.

Here’s some other concepts for variants of the regular fox that would need a different model instead of just a new texture. I know that the fennec fox is the only true fox here and the rest aren’t actually foxes, but they have the flavor* of true foxes, so I added them for extra zest. Besides, if the vanilla badlands wolf can be a striped hyena, the old growth fox can be a tanuki.

*That certain je ne sais quoi, if you will.

Drew this to practice translating human expressions into animal characters. He came out looking more aggressive than I intended but I like it, you know you fucked up big time when the shy sweet guy bares his teeth at you 😱

Fun Fact: the words Tanuki and Mujina can both be used to refer to either tanukis or japanese badgers. like one region might call the japanese raccoon dog Tanuki whereas another region might call it Mujina, and vice versa for japanese badges

Something that’s always bothered me about most animes is that they always portray the tanuki as a raccoon, bear or badger-adjacent animal when the real animal is actually a kind of wild dog that’s closely related to foxes and looks like a Pomeranian wearing a homemade wolverine costume.
