Home for the Holidays (Alexia Putellas x Reader ficlet)
18. "cancelling all other plans so they can spend the entire holidays together."
Hope you don't hate me for being a few weeks late. This one's not the best but covid really took me out. Merry Christmas, dear friends. I hope 2024 is full of magic for you all.
Tumblr media
"Are you excited to go visit your family for Christmas?" Lola asked you at the end of the last training before Christmas. This was your third year in Madrid and every Christmas, you left Spain to visit your family in Denmark. You usually looked forward to the time with them since you didn't get to go home often.
"Yeah!" you lied. "We're going to make cookies like we do every year and I've been on a crafting kick, so I made a bunch of pinterest-y crafts to give them." You hadn't told anyone but you were dreading going home this year. Not because you didn't love your family but because you didn't want to leave Alexia alone. Her mom and sister had gone on a vacation for a week to Japan and due to a volcanic eruption, they had gotten stuck there. So far, there was no news on whether they'd make it back this weekend for Christmas.
Not that anyone knew you and Alexia were dating. That you wanted to throw your traditions to the wind and start building new ones with Alexia.
"When do you leave?"
"In the morning. I have the first flight out at 6am."
"That's too early," Lola said, fake shuddering. "Merry Christmas, Y/N," she said, picking up her bags. "I hope you have a great time."
"Thanks, Lol. Merry Christmas." You smiled warmly at her as she walked away. You finished packing your bag and walked out to the parking lot. On the drive back to your apartment, you  tried calling Alexia. They had finished training  for two weeks yesterday and had a team Christmas party tonight. It surprised you to get her voicemail. Hanging up, you sighed, hoping she was alright. She loved Christmas normally and you knew it was incredibly hard for her to be without her family.
Once you were home, you turned on all the Christmas lights you'd put up. Bright colors and twinkly white lights illuminated your home, bringing a huge smile to your face. The Christmas tree in the corner was filled with the ugliest ornaments you could find. Garlands and tinsel were hung over every window. The older you got, the more time you spent away from home, the more you reveled in tacky Christmas décor.
An hour later, you were curled on the couch with a large bowl of soup, a cheesy Christmas movie on the television, and your puppy sprawled out next to you on the couch. As the couple on the screen slowly fell in love, your mind drifted to the woman you loved. And you started to plan. There was no way you could leave her alone at Christmastime. The thought of her alone dampened all your Christmas spirit.
The next morning, you packed up your bags and the puppy and made your way to the train station. When you should have been touching down in Copenhagen, you were stepping off the train in Barcelona. Although Zazu had only been to Barcelona once, he led you right to her apartment, tugging you along behind, anxious to see Alexia. You had a key to her apartment but this surprise felt worth knocking and waiting for her to open the door, so you kept it tucked away in the side pocket of your backpack.
She answered, a hoodie pulled down over her forehead, hair that had escaped her bun poking out around her face. The initial frown she had at being awoken broke into a smile and then tears.
"Oh, honey." You stepped into her and wrapped your arms tight around her. She burrowed her head into your shoulder, making her hood fall off. Zazu jumped onto both of your legs, barking in excitement.
"I needed you. And here you are," she whispered.
You brushed her hair back and kissed her forehead. "Come on. I'll make you some breakfast."
She hugged you from behind while you made food for both of you. Her arms tightened when you started pulling plates out of the cabinet. All you could do was giggle. Hungover Alexia was always so cuddly. Sad Ale was clingy. This Alexia was a combination of both of them.
“Are you going to let me go so we can sit at the table or do you want to sit on the couch?”
“Couch,” she mumbled.
"Carry this for me," you said, handing her one of the plates. You picked up the empty plate and took her free hand in yours for the short walk to the couch. Zazu had made himself comfortable on one end. His tail wagged excitedly when you walked closer to him. Skirting the coffee table, you put your plate down and then took Alexia's to set down. Sitting, you pulled her down next to you, letting your thigh rest against hers. Picking up her plate, you handed it to her. "Here you go, babe," you said gently.
You ate in silence, enjoying each other's presence after all these weeks apart. After breakfast, you both took a lazy shower. You washed her hair for her and let your hands wander. She told you she was beginning to feel half human by the time you got dressed. She asked to go for a walk with Zazu and you gladly agreed. After sitting on the train all morning, you needed some fresh air and exercise.
As you walked down the street towards Alexia's favorite coffee shop, you looped your arm through hers. Barcelona at Christmastime was a magic and you felt like you were walking in a dream. Zazu tugged excitedly at the leash even though he didn’t know where you were going. Multiple times, Alexia had to tug the leash to bring him back to the correct direction.
You took your coffees to the park, so Zazu could run freely for a bit. You cuddled up next to Alexia on the bench. The wind had picked up and you hadn't worn enough layers. She took her hat off and pulled it down over your ears.
"Thank you." You'd also made the mistake of getting an iced coffee. But when he said their special was an iced cardamom lavender latte, you couldn't resist it. It was also so good that you couldn't stop drinking it, despite how cold you were.
"So, what time do you leave for home?" she asked suddenly.
"I have a flight this evening." You traced small patterns on her arm.
"Today?" she asked sadly. "That's so soon."
"I know. I know. My mom was very annoyed that I pushed it even that long."
"Well, I'm really glad you were able to make this pitstop." She kissed your cheek, letting her lips linger a second longer than she should have in public. "I hated the idea of being alone."
"I hated the idea of you being alone too. Which is why I booked two tickets from here to Copenhagen. If I have to go home, you're coming with me."
"What?" she asked, sitting back in shock.
"Come with me," you said, taking her hand in yours. "I want to show you my life in Copenhagen. I want to wake up with you on Christmas morning."
"You're adorable." Throwing her arms around, she pulled you close. "Merry Christmas, Y/N."
"Merry Christmas, Ale." Before putting your arms around her, you let your fingers dance over the little velvet box in your pocket. Christmas in Copenhagen wasn't the only surprise waiting for Alexia this year.

— love in the paddock.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
˒ ⌕ amidst the excitement and chaos of traveling the world to support your boyfriend's racing career, you find solace in his affectionate gestures and supportive presence, despite his pre-race anxieties and the whirlwind of grand prix events.
— warnings: female reader, use of his real name
— words count: 1.3k

The weekend always brimmed with intense emotions and excitement. There was something profoundly exhilarating about knowing that, each week, life offered the opportunity to explore new horizons. It still felt a bit surreal to be able to travel to so many countries each year, all to watch your boyfriend compete in yet another racing circuit. Australia, Japan, Abu Dhabi, Brazil — the list seemed endless, each destination offering new landscapes and cultures to discover. The ability to choose from such diverse locales felt almost magical. Each trip was a unique adventure, a dream come true. As a child, you had fantasized about these distant places, and now, you were living that fantasy.
Yet, despite the constant change of scenery and the perpetual sense of wonder, there was an element of strangeness that never quite disappeared. With every new destination and each new weekend, you marveled at the reality that this was, in fact, your everyday life. The chance to visit countries that once seemed so distant and unattainable still held the power to surprise you. And although you weren’t entirely accustomed to this new reality, you continued to delight in the world's wonders, all while cheering wholeheartedly for your boyfriend’s success on the racetrack.
The paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix was extraordinarily busy — more so than usual. Barcelona, a city already known for its vibrant hustle, seemed even more chaotic on race day. However, there was a glimmer of hope that the journey to the Red Bull Racing garage might be quieter than anticipated.
Amidst the frenzy — the constant noise of mechanics working at a frenzied pace and the fans erupting in cheers with each driver’s appearance —, an unexpected sense of calm descended when you spotted Alexis talking with the engineers. His presence at the center of the action seemed to create an oasis of tranquility amid the chaos. The focus of the engineers and his interactions with them conveyed a sense of control and professionalism that helped dissipate the paddock’s agitation.
Charming was perhaps the most fitting description of him. Every time you saw him in his racing suit, adorned in vibrant shades of indigo, red, and yellow, you couldn’t help but be captivated. These colors had become his signature, alongside the Mexican flag emblazoned on the lower part of his abdomen. He held the white balaclava with casual grace, his dark hair tousled as if resisting control. The number 66, emblazoned on his broad back, held a special significance — a number he had embraced with affection, symbolizing his bond with racing since that first major event where he first used it.
He truly stood out as the golden boy of Red Bull Racing.
“You’ve arrived!” Alexis’ voice rang out with contagious enthusiasm as he spotted you, cutting off any conversation he was having. In that instant, the world seemed to vanish; nothing else mattered but your presence. “Did you have trouble finding the garage? I could have come to get you, querida.”
The softness in his voice when addressing you was a stark contrast to the moments of frustration you had witnessed before. Through the radio, you had heard the irritation and expletives he’d utter when things didn’t go as planned. Yet, when speaking to you, he transformed entirely. His voice became warm and affectionate, as if he set aside the harshness of the daily grind and revealed a gentler, more caring side.
“You look so beautiful. I promise we’ll go to that Italian restaurant I really like after the race,” he said, his smile radiating love as he gently touched the VIP lanyard hanging from his neck. The lanyard, a simple piece, displayed a photo of you with your full name and the words “Alexis’ guest” printed in elegant letters. “You’ll wait for me here, won’t you?”
“Of course I will, silly,” you replied with a smile that conveyed all your certainty. It might have been the simplest question of the day, but you knew how much it meant to him. It was a small tradition between you — a gesture of support and love that made a big difference, no matter how simple. “I wouldn’t miss watching you race for the world.”
You glanced around, taking in the bustling crowd, the people moving with excitement, and the corridors preparing for the practice session. It was an important event for him, and you were there, ready to support him every step of the way.
“Great, great,” he said, repeating the phrase with almost palpable nervousness. When anxious, he fixated on certain expressions, repeating them incessantly — a detail you found endearing rather than annoying. “That’s great, that’s great.”
You watched as he tried to compose himself. “Are you nervous?” you asked gently, running your fingers through his hair. The touch was meant to offer comfort and reassurance. He responded with a click of his tongue, a subtle sound reflecting his discomfort more than effective communication.
He tilted his head towards your hand, seeking the affection you offered as if it were the only thing capable of soothing his momentary anxiety. Your presence seemed to be a refuge amidst his restless thoughts.
“It’s my first time racing on this circuit. I’m afraid I might not qualify and end up not winning and —”
His monologue was almost a constant in such situations. Even before getting into the race car, he was consumed with the worry of potentially failing. It was as if anxiety had already taken over before the race had even begun.
You knew these bouts of insecurity were common for him, but you always tried to calm him. “Alex, darling, today is still Friday,” you interrupted softly, steering him away from the whirlwind of negative thoughts. He fell silent, visibly relieved to have someone to offer support and guidance. His brown eyes, usually sparkling with determination, were now fixed on yours, revealing a vulnerability he rarely showed.
“You’ll only be racing for real on Sunday,” you continued, offering a reassuring smile. “Today is just practice. And it’s okay if you don’t win this race.”
He nodded slowly, absorbing your words. He wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you into a warm, affectionate hug. His embrace was firm yet gentle, conveying a sense of security and tenderness. With a tenderness only he could express, he kissed your temples lightly, his touch soft and comforting. He made no effort to break contact, allowing you to lose yourself in the familiar, reassuring scent of his racing suit.
The moment between you was perfect, filled with a silent, shared love. However, the tranquility was abruptly interrupted by a mechanic’s voice echoing through the environment with friendly urgency.
“Alexis, ten minutes until practice starts!”
Despite the urgency, the voice seemed distant compared to the warmth and intimacy of the embrace you shared. Alexis grumbled quietly, a sound mixing frustration with reluctance. He let you go but not before stealing a series of delicate kisses on your lips. His lips were soft and warm, pressing lovingly against yours. He held your face with both hands, his fingers fitting perfectly to the shape of your face. You couldn’t help but laugh at the sensation of his caresses — a light, infectious laugh that seemed to make time stand still for a brief moment.
You loved when he showed affection in public. There was something genuine and special about how he demonstrated his feelings for you, regardless of the presence of others. It was as if the world around you simply vanished, leaving only the warmth of his love.
“Will I see you in a bit?” he asked, his smile a blend of anticipation and love. He already knew the answer, but the question was a ritual, a moment to reaffirm your bond. As you nodded and returned the smile, he pinched your cheeks tenderly.
“Great. I love you.”
His words were simple but filled with deep, sincere emotion.
“I love you too, always.” Your reply was a promise, a guarantee that, no matter what happened next, the love between you would remain constant and unwavering.

Zak Brown said something this weekend I’ve been arguing for years. Let’s have an F1 calendar that has rotating tracks. There are those set in stone and those we go to different years. But what would that look like as a 24 race calendar?
Personally I think sone tracks that stepped up in Covid should be given the right to host occasional Grand Prix. So here’s my suggestion.
First let’s talk track that have to remain.
Australia - be it Melbourne, Sydney, Bathurst or round Ayers Rock, it’s the only one in its continent. It stays.
Silverstone, UK - home of the first Championship race, great track loved by drivers and fans, always well attended. It stays.
Suzuka, Japan - long standing history of Japan and its motor industry in F1. Same as Silverstone, great track loved by drivers and fans, always well attended. It stays.
COTA, USA - seen as the peak of the modern designed tracks, loved by drivers and fans, always well attended. Put F1 on the map in the US through hard work, for that reason it stays.
Monaco - love it, hate it, it’s a huge challenge on the drivers and historically one of the triple crown races. It stays.
Red Bull Ring, Austria - despite its remote location and weather unpredictably it is a great race track that offers interesting races. It stays.
Interlargos, Brazil - another driver and fan favourite. The passion of the fans when we know how much tickets costs compared to wages in that country. Hard to deny it should be on the calendar. It stays.
Singapore - I’m all about the F1 world championship being a challenge for drivers in all conditions. Night racing in that heat. For the challenge it offers I think it has to stay.
Monza, Italy - if we test everything over the course of the season, speed should definitely be one of them. Historic track that has started to get huge crowds again. It stays.
Baku, Azerbaijan- this race nearly always delivers. Huge technical areas alongside high speed. Becoming a popular destination race. I say keep it.
Abu Dhabi - yes the track has its haters but again it’s a day night race (different challenge) on a technical track. If you are looking for a driver that can do it all. It has to stay.
Now what’s missing
Africa - every other continent is represented already. There needs to be a race here. Moving forward this should be a space that is always available as and when they are ready. F1 and the FIA need to get behind this and help in its development.
Tracks I want to argue for
Bahrain - it has been there for F1 and is always willing to open its doors. Not always a brilliant race but for its commitment I say keep it.
Canada - again historic race of the F1 calendar. Is it the best faculties and race? No. Is it super limited for weather when it can be run? Yes. Sentimentally I want to keep it though.
Spa, Belgium - oh man. Where to start. I love this track but I don’t love its safety record. Driver favourite but attend at your own peril for fans. However on the balance of the challenge it presents (as you might of guessed this is an important criteria) I say keep it.
Budapest, Hungary - this again is a long standing race on the calendar and has given us some classics. Cheap Grand Prix options for a lot of European fans so I would say a keep.
That’s 16. So how to fill the remaining 8 races.
China and Zandvoort have both expressed their difficulties in continuing to host Grand Prix and Mexico sales will be interesting to see once Checo retires. So here’s what I would do.
Offer Zandvoort a share with a German track, alternate years. I know Nubergring has issues but the mere mention of Hockenheim has older F1 fans drooling.
South Korea want back in so offer them a share with China. In reality China went awol for 3 years and no one missed it.
Barcelona, Spain alternate with Portamio, Portugal. Portamio came through during Covid and seems to have been forgotten. Also as close to Northern Africa as we’ve been for a while.
Miami alternate with Las Vegas. Very few people feel the US needs three races and I still say it’s not sustainable. The locals of both venues may be happier for the disruption to be biannual. Honestly though, not sure anyone would mourn the loss of Miami. Ultimately this may become the remaining race alternates with Mexico.
Qatar and Jeddah need to alternate. To have 4 races practically on top of each other in the Middle East is a joke. I’ve already saved 2, these need to alternate.
A European GP in either Imola, France (if they want to join in again) or one of the other European F1 tracks listed that doesn’t host that year can bid for it.
This leaves two spaces open if a race wants to enter or as we see in Zandvoort and Austria, one driver causes a ticket boom. Or do Istanbul. Turkey and the Sakhir Circuit layout in Bahrain (come on it was a goody) want to alternate. Still leaves a space. Also gives room for races to avoid holidays and religions festivals. 26 countries in 22 races. F1 reckon they could have 28 races. Well now you have space to accommodate more than 28 tracks.

So like…. could Marc actually win this?
Short Answer: I mean…… yeahhhhhh????
Long Answer: *incomprehensible screaming* …… and in this essay I will-
Because I genuinely don’t know what to think of Marc’s mindset rn. The whole gresini team + Marc seem hesitant to announce the championship challenge.
When Frankie did the interview post Misano 1 w TNT sports he identified their weakness as Friday, which is true. Winning the title means he needs to sort out his fucking qualifying. The tracks where he’s falling behind, he pushes more to find the limit and make the difference, but the other side of that line is him binning it and sending him down the grid. He has the speed to be on the front row pretty much every track now, even the ones where the gp24s are in a championship of their own. He can’t keep recovering from several places back every weekend, only to get up to the podium by half way through the race, at which point Pecco and Jorge have fucked off into the distance. He needs to be up there terrorising them.
However, the amount of tracks left that DO favour Marc are significant.
To start with, the counter clockwise circuits. Phillip Island and Valencia. We could very well see a performance there like we saw at Aragon and what was hinted at in Germany (Sachsenring 2024 what could’ve been, always in our hearts). I wouldn’t say we can guarantee wins, I’m aware of how powerful jinxes are, and Aragon did have an abysmal lack of grip, but they’re tracks where his performance is expected to be the best. We can’t necessarily say the same for the rest of the tracks, but what we can say about them is that they’re a complete fucking lottery.
Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Australia = anything could fucking happen. It’s no doubt that if it were actively raining (could be likely) Marc would come out on top, as we’d seen in misano 1. But what we also learnt from that race is that Marc only really needs a slightly damp track to beat the pace of the gp24s. He got up to the front because it started pissing down for half a lap yeah, but if he sorts out qualifying, he’d be up at the front in the first place, and a damp track would then allow him to keep up and extend a potential lead. More than that, you’ll see more riders coming through on an even playing field to take points out of Martin and Pecco. Exactly like Aragon. The Asian leg, in the past, has always been a bit of a gamble, and that’s where Marc will thrive.
Realistically, Valencia being the final race means that if Marc came in to that final round near equal on points, he could win the title. It would require a perfect weekend from him, Valencia being dusty plus counter clockwise would be good for that, like Aragon.
In order to be close enough going into it though he’d definitely have to be on the podium every round from here on out. Probably more 2nd’s than 3rds so that he’s scoring more than either Jorge or Pecco. Aswell as a handful more wins.
He’d also have to bargain on Jorge and Pecco fighting amongst themselves, taking points off each other. And the both of them having a few more dnfs/bottles like Pecco in Barcelona/Aragon (Peccos horrific starts not his crash w Alex) or Jorge in Sachsenring/Misano 1.
Another factor I haven’t seen people talk about, THE BEAST. For one, he is not far behind Marc, which could be a threat to him, of course. But if we imagine a situation like silverstone happening at more circuits where the gp24 could hold a massive advantage, that’s taking significant points off Pecco and Jorge, drawing the entire fight closer together. To then alternate to tracks where the playing field is more even, then we have Marc coming out on top, and Enea realistically falling behind so he can’t really make an advantage stick (like how we’re seeing him drop away again despite his dominant silverstone performance)
But I’m gonna be real….. I know I’ve just written multiple paragraphs about how Marc could win this, I don’t actually think Marc is trying to win the championship. I think he could, I honestly really, really do. I think if he had something to prove, we’d be having a completely different conversation. But in my mind, he’s already proven himself. We all know that next year, Marc is going to be alongside Pecco. There are less ducatis on the grid, and a lot of the riders on the remaining bikes, have never been Ducati riders before. If we can count on Ducati taking another massive step forward in development (fuck even any step at all at this rate) it’s clear that this is going to be a Pecco v Marc showdown. He’s staked his claim in that.
Marc doesn’t need the 2024 title. He’s saying he’s spending the rest of the year figuring out the bike in combination with his riding style. He’s doing this because he’s achieved all his goals already, get on the podium, win a race, get that seat, enjoy racing again. Tick, tick, tick, tick. He’s done, he’s checked out. He’s being realistic about his performance. As he was saying about the sprint yesterday, “If we start 7th, I finish 4th. If I start 1st I finish 4th.” And you can see the fucking BALL of a time Marc is having at Gresini, (oh my god what an incredible team I might write a whole post on my thoughts on them later). He’s enjoying racing again, and he’s relishing in that feeling coming back. I’m sure Marc is honestly satisfied in sitting back and having fun in a low pressure environment before he moves to Ducati Corse and locks the fuck in.
HOWEVER, he also has absolutely nothing to lose. For someone like Jorge who’s going to a less competitive team next year, or Pecco who’s gonna have an 8 times world champion in the box, they both are conscious of the fact this could really be their last chance at a title. Marc could come 4th, 3rd, 2nd or 1st this year and it means literally nothing because next year is where the real fight is.
In Misano 1 Marc took the risk during the rain to get up to p1 because he could afford to crash, and Pecco couldn’t. Which got him the win. If he’s planning on riding like that for the rest of the season he really could win it. But need I remind you, Pecco didn’t fight him because he wasnt Jorge Martin. Maybe Marc and the team are trying to put out the fires the media are lighting and they don’t want to draw attention to the fact that Marc very well could win this. If his strategy in those situations is fuck around now, find out later, in which the “finding out” is “win or we crash”. He’d be bargaining on Martin and Bagnaia disregarding him as a real contender. His best bet is laying low and striking when they don’t expect him too.
Am I seeing mind games where there aren’t any? Maybe. Is this delusional hope? Of course! And I also don’t think it’s something that Marc is gunning for. Like I genuinely believe the title is only gonna happen if it… falls into his hands, you know? It relies so much on luck. Getting race conditions he prefers, Pecco and Jorge bottling. Enea preforming only when it’s convenient. Not Crashing In Quali For Fucks Sake Marc. And I think Marc knows that too. This title is something that’s almost completely out of his control. He doesn’t have the bike to simply be the better rider, the only thing he can do is maximise the chances he gets in the next few rounds. If he wins or loses this, it’s not because of his skills as a rider, it’s because he was dealt the hand he needed.
But if this happens, if he is dealt this hand and he rounds the final turn of the final lap in Valencia in P1, his ninth championship secured, if I can allow us all to dream scandalously for a second, this season will go down in fucking history. In a career of incredible championship fights, controversies and highs and lows, nothing will beat whatever happens in the coming months…..

Sandwiches
Summary: Dan’s delayed coming home from winter testing. Emmy’s in bed. Fluff.
March 2019
The flight from Barcelona to London wasn’t long, but Dan was exhausted. Two weeks of winter testing meant his brain was mush in a good way. The car felt good. Not great, but he was comfortable. He could work with comfortable. But then there was a delay so they were diverted to Gatwick and it was a pain getting through. But finally after far too long he was getting his bag and getting into the taxi with Blake.
Emmy hadn’t replied to his landed text so hopefully she was actually asleep for once. She never really slept when he was driving, even in testing when it was safe. But then they were in the taxi and he put his phone away so he didn’t smile stupidly at it and give everything away. Having his manager and one of his best mates living next door to his girl was awkward for so many reasons. Especially this one.
“Talk to you tomorrow, Mate? Well, today?” Blake asked and Dan shook his head.
“Day off? Weekend off, fuck it. When’s the next thing I actually have to do? Sim work, right?”
“Sim on Monday yeah.”
“Fuck it. We’re off this weekend. I’m gonna spend it sleeping and stretching.”
“See ya.”
The driver pulled back onto the road until Dan got him to stop beside the 24 hour shop. “Just here, thanks.”
“I thought you were out further?”
“My girl’s in his building and we’re keeping it quiet for now. We’re all friends.”
“Good luck.”
It was a ten minute wait to make sure Blake was actually in his place before Dan started the minute walk down the street. He spent the time productively and picked up a bouquet of flowers for Em. They’d very carefully ignored Valentines Day, unwilling to have that conversation and let his heart be broken if she didn’t feel the same way he did. So instead it was purple and yellow tulips that he had in his hand while he climbed the three sets of stairs to get to the tiny attic apartments.
Opening the front door by pushing in the one spot guaranteed not to squeak, the first thing he noticed was the chill in the air. A quick glance at the crap storage heaters showed they were supposed to be on, but there was no heat emitting from them. Fucking landlord too cheap to fix it even when Dan had called multiple times after Em had. She’d repeated the story about how the handyman taught her how to use the heaters instead of checking them one too many times, her “I was using them in uni halls and I was warmer then, Danny!” filling the air.
Sitting in the middle of the table was a beeswax wrap covered plate and a bottle of water. Pulling the wrap off he discovered the BLT sitting there on crusty bread. His girl always left him something if she was going to bed, crisp bacon and tomatoes that were well insulated to stop the bread going soggy making him so happy. This was home. The way no matter what was going on Em made sure to have a sandwich waiting for him to get back to her if he was due in at night. For the first time in too long there was someone who cared about him just because she liked him and that was magical.
He finished eating and took a swallow from the bottle before capping it and wrapping his arms around himself to keep the heat. It was quick to brush his teeth and run a cloth over his face to get the worst of the travel grime off. But finally he pushed open the bedroom door to see the best thing. His Emmy was curled up on the side of the bed he usually slept on, a black and yellow hoodie on to keep her warm in the March chill. Her arms were wrapped around the Jigglypuff plushie he’d bought for her in Japan the year before and she was so peaceful it nearly hurt him to have to get her to move. He pulled his clothes off quickly and pushed the starry night duvet out of the way so he could slip into the bed.
“I’m back, Emmy. It’s just me,” he murmured as her eyes opened and a grin spread across her sleepy face.
“Missed you.”
“Missed you too.” He kissed the top of her head as she curled up against his chest and tried to get comfy again. A moment later he felt her shuffle and watched as her hands moved her hoodie up.
“What’s up?”
“Wanna feel your skin. Know it’s you. I-“ She was cut off by a yawn. “The hoodie made me think you were Jigglypuff but I’m too sleepy.”
“I’ve got you. Hands up for a minute.” It took less than a minute for him to pull her hoodie off and throw it across the room, leaving her bare skin pushed against his as they curled under the blankets and got warm again.
“Nigh-night Danny. Tell me about testing tomorrow. We’ve got time.” Dan watched Em’s eyes close as she curled in tighter, their legs tangling together. They were flying to Australia in a couple of days to spend time in Perth before Melbourne and he couldn’t wait. It was two and a bit weeks that he got to spend almost entirely with Em curled up beside him with his family there. In the quiet of the night he could admit it to himself. He couldn’t wait to spend time at his home race with the woman he was in love with.

For the second day in a row I stumbled upon archival images of royals at work. Let's not forget that I work in a sports channel, so it's pretty uncommon to find that kind of things in my database.
Yesterday I found young Prince and Princess Takamado of Japan in 1991 in Barcelona accompained by Infanta Cristina (while searching footage of the final of the King's Cup that year)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And today I found a young Letizia in 1999 getting ready for her news program (bts really) because her segment started after the sports program that I was searching for (footage of Spain during the sub-20 Word Cup in Nigeria in 1999)
Tumblr media
During the weekend (yep, I have to work next Saturday and Sunday) if I have free time I'll search more of these in case there's something cool.

2010 Car Launch
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
Sebastian Vettel’s first foray into Formula One saw him fined for speeding in the pitlane during the first ten seconds of his debut. It’s fair to say he hasn’t slowed down much since.
Fame and fortune hasn’t made any discernable impact on Seb (“What fortune?” he asks, bewildered). He still gives his cars girl’s names, argues that there are more exciting things in life than driving Formula One cars (but not many) and is proud of being taller than Rubens Barrichello. He loathes being referred as ‘the new Schumacher,’ and so is relieved to see his Race of Champions team-mate returning to F1.
Born 3 July 1987 in the town of Heppenheim, Germany, Sebastian enjoyed a successful career in karting before making an immediate impression the moment he came into open-wheel racing. Starting the 2003 season aged 15, he won five of 19 races in his debut Formula BMW year, finishing second in the German Championship. The next year he took the title, winning 18 of the 20 races (he finished on the podium in the other two but doesn’t like to talk about them).
It marked Vettel as one to watch and he duly tested F1 cars for Williams and BMW-Sauber, while moving up through the junior ranks, impressing in Formula 3 and the World Series by Renault. Vettel’s chance in F1 came when he replaced Robert Kubica as BMW-Sauber’s third driver in the second half of the 2006 season. In addition to incurring the Stewards’ wrath, Vettel’s debut during Friday practice for the Turkish Grand Prix also saw him finish the day top of the timesheets.
While the performance on track was impressive, everyone was equally knocked out by the confidence and effervescence with which the teenage Seb dealt with the garage and Paddock. The authority with which he spoke and the evident self-deprecating wit stood him out as much as the blistering pace.
Sebastian finally got his chance to race a year later, standing in for the injured Kubica at the United States Grand Prix. Still only 19, he qualified seventh and finished eighth, becoming the youngest man to score a Championship point. Later in the 2007 season he moved to a permanent seat at Scuderia Toro Rosso. He made a lasting impression on future team-mate Mark Webber (and the rear of his car) during the monsoon-hit Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji before bouncing back a week later to secure fourth place at an equally waterlogged Chinese Grand Prix.
Confirmed for 2008, Vettel didn’t have the best start to his first full season and crashed out of the first four races, mostly as a result of being dragged into other drivers’ accidents. Fortunately the crash-magnet curse was soon lifted and Vettel scored points at Monaco, Montreal, Hockenheim, Valencia, Spa, Singapore, Fuji and Interlagos – though the only race anyone properly remembers is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
On the back of a strong fifth place in Belgium, Vettel and Scuderia Toro Rosso went to Italy in good form. Torrential rain over the weekend failed to dampen their pace and Vettel duly became, first, the youngest driver to take pole position in Formula One history, and then the youngest race winner, having utterly dominated the race in which a rudder may have been of more use than a steering wheel.
Elevated to the senior Red Bull team for 2009, Vettel won his second, and Red Bull Racing’s first, victory at the third race of the year. He followed it with a string of podium and solid points-scoring finishes and established himself as a firm championship contender with a second, commanding victory in the British Grand Prix. He finished the season strongly with further victories in Japan and Abu Dhabi that, together with four other podium finishes, took him to second place in the Drivers’ Championship.
Definitely a follower of the ‘second is first of the losers’ philosophy, Sebastian has loftier ambitions for 2010. He lists his lifetime ambitions as winning the Formula One World Championship and beating Kimi Räikkönen at badminton.

Sebastian and the RB6
It was windy, it was cold - rain was just a matter of time. Sebastian‘s face was nearly covered by his Beanie cap, but despite the dark clouds he was in really good mood. The reason why? It was the moment when his new car was unveiled. Sebastian laughs: „Finally we are back on the track - the winter break was far too long."
Sebastian stands in front of his car and proudly he gives a short version explanation: „We were lucky to have the best of all cars during the second half of the season. That means we had a very good base right from the beginning, so we just had to develop the car. In contrast some of the opponents had to develop completely new designed cars."
The only real new part: „I got a new seat, it‘s like having a new chair. Beside that in general all the more than thousand parts of a Formula One car have been optimised. "I have a feeling I can reach my target"… So far I have not made a decision regarding the car‘s name. So ideas are welcomed.More next Friday: Today and tomorrow my team mate Mark will do the shake down and the first laps.
On Friday it will be my turn and so on Friday evening I will able to give you further information, about how the RB6´s handling qualities.

Jerez Test

JEREZ TEST – Day Three
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 59
Best time: 1.21.783
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: J. Alguersuari – 1:19.919
Sebastian Vettel drove Red Bull Racing’s 2010 championship challenger, the RB6, for the first time today, as he took over from Mark Webber on day three of the current four-day test in Jerez.
After an initial run on dry tyres, Sebastian was forced to use intermediate and extremes for the rest of the day as wet weather set in from 0945hrs. The team’s plan was to focus on aero-testing, but progress was hampered by deteriorating weather. By 1615hrs, conditions were so wet on track that Red Bull Racing, in line with the other Formula One teams testing in Jerez, decided to end the session early. Despite the weather, the car ran without any problems today.
Sebastian Vettel commented; “After three months, it was good to come back and drive the car – it felt okay and we didn’t have any big issues. Obviously the weather is not ideal for us to find out more about the car, but we knew the rain was coming so we didn’t mess around this morning and went straight out to do some laps. It then rained all day, but you could face these conditions in a grand prix, so it’s important to do laps in the wet. Overall, we didn’t do enough because of the weather, but I’m pretty happy.”
Sebastian will be driving the RB6 again tomorrow for the last day of this current preseason F1 test at the Jerez Circuit.
2010 Rider on the Storm
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
"You can't influence the weather, we have seen that today. After a three month break, I was finally able to sit in the car today and it was good fun, I am still able to drive and the car feels good. This morning I did some (a few) laps in the dry the car went well straight away, but then it started raining and I had to park the car for some time in the garage. For sure it's a shame that it wasn't dry all day but also its possible to have rain in a race and so you have to learn to keep up with diffrent weather conditions. At the moment its still very difficult to give an idea of where everybody stands due to the new rules and the big tanks. The teams are driving with diffrent fuel levels and this also keeps changing. I hope it continues raining over night so that nothing is left for tomorrow and I can speed though all day, but as I said we have to see as we can't tell mother nature what to do..."

JEREZ TEST – Day Four
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 90
Best time: 1.21.203
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1.19.583
Sebastian Vettel was at the wheel of Red Bull Racing’s RB6 today for the final day of the current Jerez test. It was his second day of testing, as Mark Webber had driven on days one and two.
The team’s plan was to focus on set-up work and aero testing, although the weather once again played a part and damp conditions in the morning meant Sebastian began the day on intermediate tyres.
Conditions dried by lunchtime, but a fuel pump failure in the afternoon cost the team around three hours of dry running time. Sebastian ended the day with a final long run on dry tyres.
At the end of the RB6’s first test, Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said: “It’s been a productive first week with the RB6, despite the weather and lack of dry conditions. We’re pleased with the car overall, it’s showing a lot of promise.” The next test will take place at the Jerez Circuit, starting on Wednesday 17 February.

Barcelona Test - Tag 2 (english version below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-01
Auto: RB6-01
Runden: 125
Bestzeit: 1.21,258 Min.
Während der Tests will man keine Schäden riskieren.
Barcelona Test - Day 2
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 125
Best time: 1.21.285
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Hülkenberg – 1:20.614
The team drove its second race simulation, and at the end of the day Sebastian had completed 125 laps.
Ian Morgen, Head of Race Engineering said; “Today we experienced about a repeat of the race simulation that Mark drove yesterday. Everything went more or less according to plan. We again stopped the car during the simulation. This was a safety measure to control a few things. It was a small problem and we could continue soon after. Sebastian could finish the race simulation in full length before end of the test day. We ran many laps and are quite happy about the car.”
Sebastian Vettel said: “This was a good day – no large problems showed up. During the course of the afternoon we had to take a break due to a small thing, but that’s pretty normal with testing drives. On test days you don’t want to risk damage. For that reason it’s best to stop the car once there’s alarms in the background. Because it rained a lot in Jerez, we have a lot of work to do in the coming few days. For example we have to find out more about the tires and do a bit of coordination work.”
Sebastian Vettel will take the wheel again tomorrow before passing it back again to Mark on Sunday, the last test day.
Barcelona Test - Tag 3 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 44
Bestzeit: 1.23,123 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: N. Rosberg (1.20,686 km)
Barcelona Test - Day 3
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 44
Best time: 1:23.123
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Rosberg – 1:20.686
Sebastian Vettel finished his second test day in Barcelona at the last test before the start of the season. The day was affected by rain. In the morning only few laps were run due to a mix of rain showers and technical problems. The afternoon showed to be more useful because the team worked on the race setup for the first race of the season in Bahrain. Sebastian reached his best time during the last lap of the day. Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said; “After the nightly work in view of the program planned for the day we were late due to a few technical problems in the morning. After we got to driving in the afternoon, we managed to do three, four setup tests for the race in Bahrain. Those brought us clear results. Accordingly we finished the day in much better form.“ Tomorrow, on the last test day, Sebastian and Mark Webber will be sharing the car.

Barcelona Test - Tag 4 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Fahrer: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Bestzeit: Vettel: 1.20,667 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: L. Hamilton (1.20,472 Min.)
Barcelona Test - Day 4
Usually, my Tests would have concluded on Saturday, but due to the bad weather conditions I did not get to the distance I wanted. Because of that we agreed that I’d get back into the car Sunday morning. On Friday we did a race simulation where everything went more or less according to plan. Now we need to wait for the first race in Bahrain, today in two weeks, where everyone will drop their pants… We’ll have to work on our top speed until then, but all in all I’m rather happy with the car. By the way: I have a name already, but I’ll only share that one on my website the Monday before the GP…
Drivers: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Car: RB6-02
Laps: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Best time: Vettel: 1:20.667
Circuit length: 4,655 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1:20.472
After he spent less time on the track than expected, Sebastian was in the car in the morning, while Mark finished our preparations for the new season in the afternoon. Both drivers followed similar programs that the team successfully completed. The provisionally final setups for different tank fillings were found.
Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering, said; ”Because we lost some time yesterday, we couldn’t finish everything we set out to do with Seb. For that reason we went over more or less one and a half test days worth of work, which got us to 137 laps. That was a lot of turmoil but we managed to do a lot.
The last test went well for us. After limited testing opportunities on dry track during the tests in Jerez, the almost fully dry four days of testing here let us get back on course. During the course of the week we took great steps. These were very good test drives.”
Two weeks still separate us from the first World Championship race, the Bahrain GP.

Have had a crazy year, and its not done yet. October last year i spent licking my wounds after breaking up with my boyfriend of almost 9 years. I had left Argentina to be with him, try my luck in europe. We had many good adventures together, and it felt like that was it, we were forever and ever... until it wasn't.
Coming into our 30s we drifted apart, and although we were good friends, we had no romantic attachment. I thought that was that, I'd probably stay single for a few years, eventually settling into a living spinster hood.
We had one last trip together in Japan we had booked before the break up, and it was fun. After that, within a few weeks i was in Argentina to escape the cold in london, and then it dawned on me how difficult breakups, even amicable ones, could be. I felt alone, but alive. I worked with my sword, and decided to train harder.
And then the season began and in the first training weekend in January a polish guy who i had met in a festival hit me with his sword, and over messenger and whatsapp he became Kuba, and then Kuba decided to become my fiance. We stayed on the phone crazy hours while i was on a business trip in silicon valley, jetlagged but smiling. A weird city with a name i still struggle to spell became home away from home.
We trained together, we grilled kielbasy in a reconstruction of an early medieval house. I went around staying the nights in open air museums in Sweden to play war games, training and partying in castles in Germany. I lost a duel to a man who broke me hand, and spent a month trying not to go crazy by hiking around the English coast while i longingly stared at the sword i could not hold.
I bought a house. Years of hard work and a little luck, and with no mortgage, i had a bit of England to myself. Three weeks in and we were home in Wolin, this time in the camp i had been so lovingly invited many times before. Kuba pretended he had tripped, dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. In the battlefield we shared and defended as brothers, a warrior asking a warrior to be his wife.
And then i was off to Buenos Aires again, my nieces quince. A brief stint through barcelona for some more fighting, preparing for my compadre's wedding in Mexico.
And then Monterrey, tired and hot. Everyone is happy and the wedding is a beautiful affair. And im there all the while thinking, is this how i will feel next year looking at my husband's eyes as we tie our destinies together?
Its been a crazy year, its been a crazy few years. And its not done yet.

Sleepover Saturday! 😊 Where have you traveled, and where would you like to travel to?
i gotta be honest, i actually haven't travelled that much outside of italy and most of these trips date way back to my high school years ;;;;;;;;;
it's not that i don't like traveling, i just didn't really had the chance to do it for a lot of different reasons, but hopefully i'll be able to do it more often in the future, especially because there are so many places i would love to see!!!!!!
so to answer your question!!!!!!
PLACES I'VE SEEN
a few french cities (nizza, cannes, lyon, strasbourg). my ex girlfriend spoke french really well and sometimes we would just. travel to one of those cities (which are pretty close to italy) for the weekend and sleep in her car.
the netherlands. my favorite high school trip, those were awful years but i have such fond memories of the places we saw here!!!!! we visited amsterdam, rotterdam, and maastricht, climbed to the top of the domtoren's cathedral in utrecht, saw the windmills of kinderdijk and the keukenhof botanical garden, and even got to take a walk on one of the beaches!!!!!!!
barcelona. another high school trip but unfortunately i don't have as many memories of this one, which is why i would love to go back to see it!!!!!
bucharest. first time i ever travelled alone and it was to meet an online friend. let's just not talk about it ;;;;;;;;
PLACES I WOULD LIKE TO TRAVEL TO
paris. just because my mom has always wanted to see it and i would love to take her there one day.
prague. everyone who went there loved the city, so im really curious about it.
spain. just would love to do a proper tour of the entire country, seeing barcelona again but also madrid, valencia, granada, ronda, seville, santiago de compostela.......
iceland. my brother went there and i just find it fascinating!!!!!!!
japan. another country i would love to do an entire tour of to learn more about its culture first hand!!!!!!!
thailand. same as above!!!!!!!
usa. im not really interested in its big cities, but i would love to do at least one of those cross country routes, i think scenery wise it must be beautiful. also i would take a detour to iowa to meet @clandestinegardenias!!!!!!!!!
IM DEFINITELY FORGETTING SOME PLACES BUT THIS IS ALREADY WAY TOO LONG SO IM SHUTTING UP
