JYOCHO (じょうちょ) is a Japanese math rock and post rock band from Kyoto. JYOCHO was originally started as a solo project of guitarist Daijiro Nakagawa (ex. Uchu Conbini) in 2016. JYOCHO is the spiritual successor to Uchu Conbini's sublimely crafted math-pop. The songwriting and tone have matured, and the addition of flute brings with it an almost folk flair. Daijiro recruited an elite group of musicians to bring his intricately beautiful compositions to life and JYOCHO’s sound. JYOCHO is the phenomenal solo project of Daijiro Nakagawa and his beautifully intricate and soulful take on math-rock will unequivocally appeal to fans of This Town Needs Guns (TTNG), toe, and American Football.......~

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad & Oasis
No live action lançado em 2010, a música Don't Look Back In Anger faz parte a trilha-sonora do filme.

On January 10, 2024, Japanese rock band JYOCHO released “Michibiki, Sasagete/Guide and Devote,” which is being used as the ending theme for the second season of the Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside anime. I have to be forthcoming in this review and admit that I’m only familiar with this anime through looking at a synopsis and reading anime bloggers’ opinions on the series. Musically, this song grabbed me from its intro due to the acoustic guitar and flute that are prominent in it. I thought this gave the intro a bit of a Celtic rock or folk rock flair to it. While the acoustic guitar and flute appear throughout the song, they are the most prominent instruments in the intro. When the rest of the instruments come in for the song, it sounds more like a regular pop song with a bit of a folk rock influence going in the background. To me, this was a unique sound for a J-pop track, and I think it works for what I know of the anime that it’s the ending theme for. I also have to add that I really liked the vocalist’s performance on “Michibiki, Sasagete/Guide and Devote,” because I found it to be soothing and working well with the musical arrangement. Fortunately, the YouTube video that I watched for this song included an English translation of the lyrics in the subtitles. The lyrics seem to be from the point of view of a speaker saying that they’re trying to live their life while not understanding everything that life has to offer. From what I know of the Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside anime, the lyrics seem to fit in with the theme of the series. However, the lyrics are written in a way that they’re not specifically tied in with the anime and can be interpreted with a broader meaning. I really enjoyed “Michibiki, Sasagete/Guide and Devote,” because it sounds so different from anything else I’ve heard from the J-pop genre at the time I’m writing this review. I think fans of the band, as well as of the anime its attached to, will appreciate this song. I also think that music listeners who enjoy folk rock might also find something to appreciate here, even if they don’t understand the words that are being sung....~ Kyoto, Japan-based progressive rock band JYOCHO (meaning “emotion,” “mood,” and “atmosphere” in Japanese) was formed in 2016 by guitarist Daijiro Nakagawa (formerly of Japanese math rock band Uchu Conbini) who's known for his highly sophisticated and technical and now the band consists of Daijiro Nakagawa(Gt/Cho), Nekota Netako (Vo/Key), Yuuki Hayashi (Fl), and Kojiro Yamazaki(Dr). The band's music has passed through a variety of genres, and it builds a unique worldview that only JYOCHO can create, incorporating plenty of technical tracks, warmth, and intensity. In January 2023, JYOCHO released "As the Gods Say e.p," which includes the ending theme song "As the Gods Say" for the Netflix series "Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre." In the same year, the U.S. indie label Topshelf Records releases the band's latest album "Let's Promise to be Happy" in vinyl and cassette formats worldwide. JYOCHO's unique yet beautiful sounds are well-received by music lovers all over the world........~ Great way to open yourself up to JRock!....~ JYOCHO's new album is fun, emotional and inspiring. You can clearly hear the beautiful dissonance between the very rhythmic, typically math rock guitars and drums that aren't very expressive but very technical and the simple, beautiful sounds of the singer. In 4 quick but powerful songs, the band explores their summery sound that brightens up a day just like that. If you want some feel good technical and jazzy math rock, this is it.....~ Credits Performer JYOCHO Vocals Nekota Netako Guitar Daijiro Nakagawa Keyboard Nekota Netako Bass sindee Drums Kojiro Yamazaki Flute Yuuki Hayashi Chorus Daijiro Nakagawa Tracklist 01 Guide and Devote 3:21 02 ex human 3:43 03 A Flourished City 2:40 04 Counting Planets
