Hi! 😊
Thank you for being open to give it a try and draw formula e drivers too. (There is of course no pressure, you don't have to do it if you don't want to.)
I really like your drawings, they're so cute and a lot of them give off soft vibes which I really like, because that's what I usually look for in the fictional world.
In FE, Jandré (Jean-Éric Vergne and André Lotterer) is my comfort pairing, and I once read a story of them that was about them being back at their hotel room after a race, tired, not really having the energy to do anything but cuddling. I already forgot the details (my memory sucks) but this 'being tired and just wanting to be together, cuddling' thing/scene just burned into my mind, and I would love to see them snuggling/cuddling on a couch/in a bed, just being happy to be together after a long day at work, because I think it would look really cute in your style. 😊
Thank you and sorry for the long ask!

hiii this is rey thank you SO much for your research!!! i really appreciate it and omg that is all so cool. I love the image of the threshhold-- especially because structurally, the encounter in the cemetery really is the threshold for gawain to start losing his sense of self... and also despite the liminality of cemeteries being a later construction, in this one case that actually super applies. anyway. thinking so hard about that text all the time. want to write a weird postmodern retelling.
you're welcome :) re the liminality of the cemetery in l'Atre: you're so right, and it is also a space of textual liminality in the sense that it deliberately confronts different textual tradition of gauvain's identity by imagining the arthurian world without a 'gauvain' - it is almost, dare I say, genettian (the threshold as a way if imagining and conceptualising intertextuality) in the way it draws together the different definitions of the word 'atre' as both a threshold and a writing surface..........13th century verse romance is sooo so interested in meta / inter-textuality and I love it!
(PS: if you see this, could you tell me a bit more abt the Perlesvaus and the Eastern Orthodox Church? Echo mentioned that you had mentioned it to them in the past (in particular regarding Jandrée, which I always read as an antisemitic allegory for the 'Old Law') and I've been doing a lot of research on the topic recently and have become incredibly invested in the idea (is it bc of lancelot smashing the idols in Madaglan's kingdom?))
thank you I was happy to help! <3

The recent arrest of a senior MS13 leader, Fredy Iván Jandrés Parada, also known as “Lucky de Parkview,” in San Diego, California has provided prosecutors with an opportunity to gain insight into the relationship between the gang's highest-ranking members and officials behind El Salvador’s gang crackdown. Lucky, a member of the MS13's National Council, had been on the run since 2018 and was described as one of the most senior leaders of the gang worldwide. He was charged alongside 13 other gang leaders with crimes related to terrorism, including directing acts of violence and negotiating with Salvadoran government officials. With several top MS13 leaders now detained in the United States, prosecutors have the opportunity to extract information that could shed light on the gang's relations with the Salvadoran government. Allegations have been made that MS13 leaders negotiated corrupt deals with high-ranking members of President Nayib Bukele’s government. For example, it is alleged that El Crook, another member of the Ranfla Nacional, was freed from jail in El Salvador by high-level government officials after a wave of gang killings. Testimony from Lucky, Crook, and other leaders in US custody could be key to proving these alleged negotiations between the Bukele administration and the gangs. In early 2022, President Bukele announced a state of emergency aimed at crushing the gangs, which led to a significant decrease in homicide rates and improved public perceptions of security. However, critics have raised concerns about arbitrary detentions, poor prison conditions, and the relatively small number of top gang leaders detained under the emergency measures. The United States believes that MS13 leaders negotiated corrupt deals with Salvadoran government officials, and with several key leaders now in US custody, there is an opportunity to extract crucial information on these relationships. The United States has had to rely on arrests on US soil or extraditions of Salvadoran gang leaders from outside El Salvador, as the country has resisted US requests for the extradition of senior gang members. Reports have alleged that Bukele negotiated with gangs prior to implementing the state of emergency, although the Salvadoran government has denied these allegations. In an investigation into the government’s crackdown, no evidence was found that the Bukele administration had dealings with gangs since the state of emergency was implemented in March 2022. The extradition of MS13 leaders from outside El Salvador and their subsequent detainment in the US could provide key information on these alleged negotiations. The arrests of top MS13 leaders like Lucky and El Crook could provide prosecutors with valuable information on the gang's activities and its relationships with government officials. With the majority of criminal cases in the US resulting in plea agreements, where defendants provide information in exchange for leniency, there is a possibility that these detained gang leaders could provide crucial testimony. By cooperating with US authorities, these leaders could potentially reveal the extent of their negotiations with the Bukele administration and shed light on the inner workings of the MS13 leadership.

Yes, yes I am Jandré trash, and no I don’t feel bad bout it.
I mean they took the two best characters and smashed them together like a child playing with Barbie and ken and said kiss. How could I not fall in love with it.
Now I just need to convince all the other jandré trash who can write to make more fanfic for them

Halloween in Maitland, FLA -- Maitland Art Center Tours
Unlike the usual Halloween haunted houses, the Maitland Art Center on West Packwood Avenue in Maitlaind, FL, is reported to have actual ghostly activity on a regular basis.  So when better to host tours in the dark to tell those ghost stories involving staff and artists in residence than Halloween.
Built in 1937 by J. André Smith, a World War I documentary artist, as a winter artist colony, Maitland Art Center still hosts artists as a winter residence where they can work freely in complete privacy.  Mayan Revival imagery is dominant in the building, with a sense of wildness and abandon, that Smith said came from his dreams.  Only the chapel across from the art center had a more Christian look and feel to it--less pagan, more religious--because he built it for his Episcopal mother.  (photo below is the chapel entrance--Photo credit: Diane Dobry).
Tumblr media
The evening tours, which are led by staff of the Art Center, begin at 6:30 on October 28.  While waiting for the tour to begin, guests can enjoy craft beer, wine, or water and the chance to design their own light-up luminary to carry on the tour.  A mini-flashlight that hooks onto a bag or strap is also provided.
Tumblr media
As I drew my luminaria--the haunted house in the photo above--I  spoke to the weekend manager and docent, and “experiencers assistant” Katie Benson, who told me she worked at the Art Center since February.  Even in that short time, Benson has experienced André's presence, since that is who the staff and residents believe is sharing the space with them in spirit.
“Closing up at the end of my shift, alone, I felt as if someone was there with me, like a helper, looking out for me,” Benson recounted.  “It is eerie knowing that when you are somewhere by yourself and you feel that someone else is with you, though I never felt it was malicious in any way.”
She continued with a story about a recent photo shoot that required them to move a bust of André.  Benson said out loud, “Oh André, how do you feel about being moved?” At which point a mask behind her fell off its podium.
Now that Benson has been working there and often arrives or closes up alone, she greets André out loud asking, “How are you?”
As Benson and tour guide Kelly pointed out, many people have experienced the presence of J. André Smith.  Sometimes it is just a presence, often it is the smell of cigar smoke (he loved his cigars). But some have actually seen an apparition of him or at least a figure in the window or hallway.
André keeps the security company, the facilities manager and sometimes the local police busy, as well, with alarms going off in the middle of the night. The alarms allow them to listen to the audio of the location where the alarm has been tripped.  One evening at 3:30 a.m., the facilities manager got the call and listened to the audio, which sounded as if large objects were being moved around in the building.  Yet no motion sensors or dead bolts were affected when the facilities manager arrived to check on things.
Another time the alarm in the courtyard area.  The area surrounding the building is away from the main roads and tends to be isolated and quiet.  Yet the audio that night sounded like a concrete mixer was running, or a semi was driving down the road (which, on the small, narrow road was not very likely).
Lights are often glowing in windows in one tower that has no electricity when the gate to the tower is locked.  Artists have heard footsteps on the roof of their studios.  And at one point after Andre passed away and a developer was hoping to turn the property into condos, an artist who had known André saw him at the end of the gallery one night. That seemed to him to be a sign that Andre did not want the artist residence to be abandoned and sold.  And so it was saved and allows the work of artists to continue today, in the peace and creative energy of the compound.
For more stories, join a tour on October 28 between 6:30 and 10:00 p.m.  Order tickets ($10 for member, $15 for non-members) in advance online at:

yes to all this 100%! Re Jandrée: obviously her faith is ambiguous but I always interpreted her blindness as recalling the synagogue / the Old Law as some contemporary depictions of the Crucifixion would also include a blind woman that was meant to represent the Jews (’blind’ to the christian messiah). There are also a few depictions in some cathedrals (Strasbourg most famously I think) so idk that’s how I interpreted that! But it’s true that the term used in the text ‘mescreanz’ was used to describe Orthodox Christians sometimes so maybe! I mean the text's vagueness sometimes feels like an attempt to conflate a broadly heterogenous group of people into one big homogenous 'other' that is easily identifiable and therefore dehumanised
Omg the perlesvaus was written right after the sack of Constantinople holy shit
