translating jan usawi's likujo would be a fun challenge specifically if you want to preserve the tone of "like every other word is some obscure neologism that at most two people have ever used before"

how r u going about learning toki pona?
I started with jan Misali's new series (decided to watch it idly to go to sleep and then it was four hours later and I had just found my new Big Phase) and then moved on to the kama sona Discord server, where I kept the Linku dictionary and kilipan grammar reference on hand while #chatting and doing (bad) translations
This was my main path but the sitelen sitelen course was also really useful for me, as was listening thru kalama sin; lipamanka's and mun Kekan San's websites were also really useful for broader concepts, and even tho I looked into the latter's actual lessons just a smidge after the main line would've been directly useful for me, it's still a pretty good analysis
luka pona la I read through the grammar document for word order rules and then most everything I've actually learned I was taught directly over video call by jan Tepo
TL;DR: I fucking love talking and by god so does everyone else in this community
#opetp and sTesa's courses also came to my attention a bit too late for me 😔#Other particular shoutouts that I can think of RN who don't have things I can link to but tytytytyty: jan Deni. jan Salo. ijo Wen. len len#nasa utala. jan Jami. jan Usawi. jan Emikili. ko Umeja. waso suno. kulupu telo mun (inventors of eliki)#Probably other parties I can't think of rn but functionally everyone I talk 2 in ks and mpptp

hi i made up yet another impractical number system/nomenclature for toki pona!!
its base six or seximal, using the digits wan (1), tu (2), san (3), po (4) and luka (5) [as used in jan Usawi's song likujo]
now a lot of number systems use suffixes to denote the position of a given digit (see four = 4 , four-ty = 40, four-hundred = 400). personally i like single syllable suffixes so i could just come up with a bunch of sounds BUT. luckily there already is a really fun tp word with a lot of fairly distinct syllables in it: kijetesantakalu!
so we just add one syllable of kijetesantakalu after every digit of a number? yes! but theres once again a but! we need to either go through the word kinda in reverse order or [much more fun option!]
reverse the order of the digits! (i struggle to explain why i think this is nessecary soo.. trust me bro?). my native language german already does this (at least for double digit numbers) so thats proof enough this makes sense. okay thats a lot of abstract rambling so heres some examples:
"53" (fifsy three)
san-ki luka-je
"3514" (thirsy five nif ten)
po-ki wan-je luka-te san-sa
(i shorten san to sa to avoid ambiguity)
"142513" (ten unexian dozen five nif nine)
san-ki wan-je luka-te tu-sa po-ta wan-ka
cons:
-unnessecarily complicated and therefore against the spirit of tp
-requires knowledge of base six
-will not be widely used so youd need to link this post everytime you use it.
-not actually useful
-you could just say the digits in order
pros:
-fun :33
-seximal
-has kijetesantakalu in it
-anything is better than the current systems
-suprisingly good at large numbers (works until 6^8-1 (dec) and would be fairly easy to extend)

What the hell are you posting?
How is a name a spoiler, won’t let me know
Just play the game, you and blue maned, leave me alone
The anthony's on my trail, my videos unavailable
I'ma tell 'em “o tawa weka”
I’ve got a lot of anons, on and on
Getting real strange
In my inbox
Saying apple’s hot men
Blasted down the tags on blogs
But that catastrophe
Doesn’t matter now because I had a strike
Copyright about wreaking havoc on Caramelldansen
Kinda shocking it’s still on Bandcamp
No precision, just vague and threatening, claim and blocking, Kotaku’s talking
Counter, counterclaim, and another
Counter, counterclaim
Giovanni
It don't matter, here’s a video about homestuck

Hypothetically, how does one start learning toki pona?
(I say hypothetically because I have ADHD and learning a language is a very long-term process lmao)
(first paragraph is mostly justt rambling, feel free to skip over lol)
Actually, because of how small the language is, toki pona doesn't take that long to learn! The hardest part is just memorizing the sentence structure pattern, that's IT. It's quite simple, really. Keeping in mind that I'm actually scheduled to be getting an ADHD evaluation in a month, it's really easy to learn in my opinion. Even the toki pona anon (who I taught toki pona) thought at first that sey wouldn't be able to learn! But here they are.
ANYWAYS rant over. I have several resources that I use, however if you simply want to know what toki pona is, I recommend going to tokipona.org since that is the official website.
If you decide you want to learn, then jan Misali has a series on learning toki pona, which I find INCREDIBLY helpful for learning toki pona. There are also several other videos on toki pona on youtube!
Here is a link to a helpful english-to-toki pona and toki pona-to-english translator that I often use when I need to remember a word.
..And last but not least, ilo Linku is an INCREDIBLY helpful toki pona online dictionary with all the official words and nimisin (made up words)!
Also, as a little extra, I love jan Usawi's music a ton. Highly recommend.
Hopefully this helps!
#not a mini-game#ooc speaking#toki pona#hopefully duolingo will add it as a language you can learn soon...
