Okay, I’ve been considering it for quite a bit and I think that if Tumblr existed in Japanifornia… most of us would probably not be aware of the series’ main characters.

Like, lawyers just don’t tend to be high-profile publicly-known figures. Even within True Crime communities or the coverage of high-public-interest cases, people don’t tend to focus on the lawyers as much more than a representative of the defendant and the legal system as a whole. And yeah, you can say this is just because real-life lawyers are Boring and if they did the kind of Bonkers Shit AA Lawyers do we would pay attention to them… but we do actually have textual evidence that Japanifornia treats lawyers not-too-differently than real life.

Mia’s murder, and probably the uncovering of all of Bluecorp’s dirty dealing, was highly talked about, but Phoenix’s actions in court went kinda ignored. And note that this is the case where Phoenix literally defended himself and broke the Demon Prosecutor’s five years winning streak, and that wasn’t enough to draw eyes to his part in this whole case. 

And that’s also generally consistent with how characters treat Phoenix throughout the rest of the games. By the AJ Trilogy era, it’s clear that Phoenix has made quite a name for himself… in the legal world. If you are yourself a lawyer or another sort of legal professional or just unusually interested in court proceeding, you know the name ‘Phoenix Wright’ 

But if you’re just a regular person who cares about the law the Regular Amount, you probably have no idea who this is.

So I’d guess most of Japanifornian Tumblr would probably be aware of a lot of the cases in the games, especially considering how many of them concern, like, corporate corruption and organized crime and legal corruption and international politics and the entertainment industry and other such stuff that makes it likely to get national/international news coverage. And also so many of them are so bizarre and wacky and are thus prime meme fodder…

But most people wouldn’t necessarily know the name of the lawyer the Nickel Samurai blackmailed to defend him after he ordered an assassin to kill the Jammin’ Ninja, or even how involved that lawyer actually was in Matt Engarde’s downfall.

But there would probably be a small mini-fandom of Tumblrina Lawyers and other legal nerds who are ABSOLUTELY obsessed with the WAA, and trying to collect any piece of info they can find about their adventures. 

(That’s also another aspect to consider, the general public in Japanifornia does not have full knowledge of everything we get to see in the game. News coverage of the smaller cases would be extremely minimal and very regional - and even the bigger cases probably won’t give you a full line-by-line record of everything that happened in Court. Apollo Justice was, like, the Biggest Phoenix Wright Stan in the Universe and he had very choppy and partial knowledge of the Gramarye Trial. We have to consider that even folks who are trying to keep track of the AA Lawyers in-universe would not get the full picture from the media. And that’s before we get into fake news and rumors.)

And meanwhile, the rest of Tumblr would probably treat that Fandom the same sort of bemused delight we give to, like, the extremely dedicated gimmick blogs. Like, you’d probably see less posts about Phoenix and Co. as you’d see posts memeing about the fact there’s a Tumblr Fandom for ‘some random law agency in Japanifornia’, they’d be like five thousands people in the notes going “There’s a Tumblr Fandom for WHAT? WHY IS THIS THE FIRST TIME I’M HEARING ABOUT THIS??” and then one person from the WAA fandom going “NO YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS IS THE GUY WHO UNCOVERED THE PHANTOM HE’S JUMPED OFF A BURNING BRIDGE ONCE YOU LITERALLY TALKED ABOUT A TRIAL HE DID YESTERDAY YOU JUST DON’T KNOW HE WAS INVOLVED”. 

Now, that’s all for the Defense Attorneys. The Prosecutors have a bit more publicity. I mean, Phoenix literally heard about Prosecutor Edgeworth on the news.

But also… I do think this publicity is highly regional. Like, Phoenix ended up stumbling on newspaper coverage of Miles because he lives in the same city as him. I’m guessing that most of the series’ Prosecutors are at least casually known not just to Legal Folks, but also generally to people within Los Angetokyo and people involved in Japanifornian Politics… but also not much outside of that sphere either. Again, the series does establish that they are not that well-known amongst laypeople even when they are famous amongst other lawyers

And are generally recognized by fellow legal professionals and journalists and people involved in criminal activity. So the situation with them won’t be that different than with the WAA, they might be a tad more high-profile, depending on how many Tumblr users are specifically from Japaniforina and wanna make memes about the local politics… but those who will get really invested in their misadventures won’t be that different from the kind of people who’d get really into Phoenix Wright. 

Klavier is the obvious exception. Like most Famous Lawyers, he’s actually primarily famous for something other than law. It’s just that in his case, instead of politics, it’s being a world-famous rock star. There’s plenty of textual evidence that the Gavinners are an actual household name and they’d probably have a pretty sizable Tumblr Fandom, but… well… while I assume any casual Gavinner fan knows that Klavier is also a Prosecutor, I’d guess only the insanely dedicated fans and the Haters looking for something problematic would actually start digging into the records of the cases he worked on. But then again, Tumblr does have a lot of insanely dedicated fans and Haters, so maybe Legal Misadventures Involving Klavier would be kinda mainstream on Japanifornia Tumblr.

in the midst of me drawing mirage and struggling with his design, i've made a few -1 braincell headcanons for the fellow mirage fandom because of course i did 🤡 (updated; will continue to add on until i forget):

okay so he smells like ocean mist, like, the scent you find at candle shops yknow?? he smells like the color blue or some sort of blue candy or fruit or candle basically

he ain't that smart bruh, like, he forgets words all the time like one time he thought that the word "konnichiwa" was fucking "coochiewap" like a fucking idiot

he likes storms, but just the rain part. he got jumpscared by thunder one time and he didn't like it at all. he can handle the rain outside but he won't go outside when it's thundering

when he was finally introduced to the sonic the hedgehog games, he deadass said "wait a minute, that ain't noah". he proceeded to feel like a clown for the rest of the day

blud can purr, i'm telling you! but like, he keeps it to himself most of the time for obvious reasons (he doesn't wanna be seen as a dork)

he's sarcastic for literally no reason and he loves trolling people. he probably has a inactive 4chan or deactivated reddit account that was only made to make people mad

he can and will hold you like burger. sometimes he will actually nom down onto your head (not like, actual bite but yknow the soft noms) or just hold you like a lil plushie

mirage has been dunked on by optimus at least once, like, full on basketball game. he has sworn to dunk on optimus in revenge. he hasn't succeeded so far....

i know this motherfucker can whimper, i know he does. if he can purr, he can whimper, and that is 102% facts right there. he already has a girlish scream....

on god he knows any cheesy old song that radiates positive vibes to heart. he could sing "bad" by michael jackson perfectly and do all the moves too. just imagine a huge blueberry of a robot jammin' out to the most stupidest songs /pos

i don't know why but he seems like a kids movie type of guy. you can and will catch him watching nightmare before christmas or aladdin alone in the back for like the 126th time

his favorite game to play in the sonic series is sonic cd. he asked noah to make a special controller for him so that he could play and not just watch all the time. his second favorite game is donkey kong country

this big ol' nerd can't count in uneven groups!! he's like that one guy counting the cash. in fact, he can't really count in big groups without thinking about it, even if it was by 100 or 1,000 (yes he's a doofus in my eyes [and i love him so much])

he craves, and i mean craves interaction. you saw him using the car as a step-stool to snoop on noah and kris!! you can't leave him alone for too long or else he gets a bit grumpy (he's tired of being cooped up and alone yknow)

when he was confessing to noah or whoever, he got overheated and sputtered really super duper quadruper hard (like a silly engine) and had to confess on a more cold day to keep himself maintained

sometimes he feels absolutely awful for literally no reason.. when he does feel bad, he targets one person to hover close to and just sticks beside them until he feels better/gets distracted (he usually sticks around optimus or noah but if you're lucky you might see him stick around with you!!)

speaking of distracted, he gets easily distracted like a silly lil goober kid! he could like deadass chase a little red dot around like a kitten and will nevereverever get tired. he's just that silly and hyper and goofy!!

Narumitsu Week Belated Days Six & Seven - Teamwork & Seasons

Finally finished my last contribution to Narumitsu week! They’re working together on Kay and Trucy’s Halloween costumes (the Jammin’ Ninja and Steel Samurai respectively). Phoenix is sewing up part of the Jammin’ Ninja outfit and Miles, while not a great painter, at least has extensive knowledge on the Steel Samurai so he chose to be the one to do Trucy’s costume. Either way, the girls will love they’re costumes!

This was a really fun week of drawing challenges and it really got me to actually draw, which is always nice. There are still things I’d improve on in my drawings (most were just sketches or unfinished drawings, and even this one I’m still unsure on the proportions and anatomy), but even with the time constraint, I’m overall happy with what I drew. I also am super thankful to the Ace Attorney community because I actually got quite a few notes on my drawings which was really nice, so thank you! 

Anyway, Narumitsu week was fun, and I hope to do more fanart for this game series cuz it’s just so fun with amazingly charming characters!

was a founding member of the gavinners until her relationship with daryan soured and she quit after a huge argument. this nearly led to the total breakup of the band - they end up touring with session musicians on bass, keys, and drums, because she took half the band with her in the schism

she plays in a grungepop act now and is the nerd because she's the only one with a law career (how times change). but she gets back into contact with klavier after the events of Turnabout Serenade

[ask post] 5: What part was hardest to write?

- I think the hardest (so far) has been chapter 12. Mainly because there was so many transitions and traveling. Plus, Clyde was officially introduced that chapter. I also think ten was a bit hard, because anytime a chapter doesn't entirely focus on solely scc I get a bit bored and lose motivation. So, I had to find a way to keep the chapter fun to write and read.

there was one time when the two of them fought in a less-than-adequate place and didn’t want to sit in the open when it was over so they patched each other up in the backseat of Amity’s car. Luz, of course, made a point to stretch her dirty bleeding body anywhere she could just to be a little shit. backfired (or didn’t, depending how you look at it) for her tho, bc she ended up completely passing out with half her body trying to crush Amity. Amity didn’t have the energy or the heart to move her. impromptu cuddling they agreed to never speak about come morning!

Amity doesn’t often see Luz passionate about something that isn’t going to cause harm/annoyances to other people. she can name One time and it was when she was going on this excited Rambling about some Azura book or fan-animation she saw. shes just so excited w starry eyes n all n Amity would rather swallow her own fire than interrupt or bully Luz abt it (also shes lowkey very interested in what Luz has to say, they’re both nerds) so she happily listens w an uncharacteristically soft look that Willow has no qualms teasing her about.

Luz, texting Amity: get yr ass to the storage room I wanna show u where the double-track kids hideout is Amity: why Luz: cuz u look sad as fuck n the double-track kids hideout is REALLY cool Amity proceeds to look up from where she was sulking in study hall to see Luz across the room giving her a peace sign and immediately leaving. they proceed to skip most classes and do stupid shit in the hideout and getting the HELL out of there when the double-track kids show up to do some like Actual Homework. this is a common occurrence.

maybe its cause I’m busy blasting this but God I can just imagine Luz being the dumbass whos chillin in a car (driving or passenger) but then A Good Song Comes On and shes JAMMIN to it. mouthing along/singing lyrics, head bobs, repeatedly tapping foot/tapping dash, etc. her friends are subjected to this but especially Amity when they’re driving back from a fight or on their way to kick some ass. normally she isn’t as dramatic with other people, but Amity finds the whole thing amusing n it cheers her up so Luz has become Very Dramatic when other ppl, especially her, are w her
