Okay, maaaaaany a year ago I started a Jacob X Shifter reader fic and I'm reading the stuff I did write down and I feel like I want to continue it.
I'll drop a snippet below from my WIP. But let me know if I should actually try writing the fic properly.
(( Jacob came up close to the drilled holes of the box to inspect the beast as it was trying to pace but unable due to the sheer size of the creature and the box being just big enough to fit it. This didn’t mean they couldn’t try and lunge for Jacob snarling its bloody canines. With its glowing yellow eyes staring into the blue of his, he smiled like the devil. The Seed brother didn’t break eye contact as that would be the first sign of weakness and his aim was to control the power the box held. ))

Jamie and Roy spending ridiculous amounts of time together and Phoebe knowing about it definitely means that Jamie’s around Phoebe a lot more in the off-season when she’s off school and Roy’s off work but still being Jamie’s personal trainer for free (and she definitely likes bossing Jamie around just as much as Roy does and finds the ridiculous shit Roy makes him do hilarious)
And you know that thing where kids love to randomly go watch this, I can do a somersault or want to see me do a cartwheel? and then you just have to awkwardly stand there and be like wow whether they actually can do them or not (and sometimes several times in a row have to try to think of something new to say the fifth time they do the exact same thing and then look to you for a reaction)
I’m just saying at some point they’re in some park and Phoebe definitely pulls a look how good I’m getting at cart wheels, Uncle Roy! around Jamie at some point and while Roy just stands there like 🧍♂️ and gives compliments that gradually get more and more deadpan and debates turning it into saying how much more impressive that is than anything Jamie’s done all morning but he doesn’t because he’s 90% sure that would just lead to Jamie getting all indignant and competitive and proving he can cartwheel too as if Roy isn’t already annoyingly aware of that from when he was dying trying to keep up with Jamie in Amsterdam while he was cartwheeling and practically skipping
But obviously Roy not saying anything doesn’t matter anyway and Jamie turns it into being like watch this to Phoebe and cartwheeling too and turning to Roy after like well go on, tell me how good I am at that too
Roy deadpans somehow it’s far less impressive watching a grown man cartwheel for attention. It’s just sad, really
But Jamie isn’t offended at all and just shoots Roy an obnoxious smirk and insists you’re just saying that because you know you couldn’t do one. Even trying would probably end with you needing a hip replacement or something
But before Roy can even properly argue or say something bitchy back, Jamie’s turning back to Phoebe with a how about this then? But even though it’s her he asks, it’s Roy he looks to the moment he finishes running a few steps and doing a one-handed cartwheel
And Jamie’s like well now are you impressed??? And god, Roy resents that he is and he could make a dig about how useless of a skill it was as an adult and how that wouldn’t accomplish anything on the pitch and he’d just look like one of the kids that picks flowers on the pitch instead of playing or even paying attention to where the ball is, but instead he rolls his eyes and says yeah okay
And Jamie beams but he doesn’t have time to properly gloat and give Roy shit because Phoebe’s already bossing him around telling him that he has to teach her how to do that too
#I’ve been debating putting this in one of my fics for months and still may#Meanwhile if Keeley saw Jamie cartwheel for attention and praise she’d be like I never know what to do when a grown man does a cartwheel in#front of me…#Keeley would be underwhelmed watching Jamie do a cartwheel but also 100% would attempt one and join in if Phoebe asked her to#Phoebe definitely got into football because of Roy#But I could also see her getting into gymnastics too because of Jamie indulging her and being just as eager to do the same little kid tricks#And then she sees someone else on the team do a flip showing off and them all arguing over whether they could do a flip too if they tried#And attempting with various results and she’s like well I want to be able to do a flip too and talks her mom#into signing her up for gymnastics and then talks Jamie’s ear off about her gymnastics class and the little kid tea from it because he’s#sure to match her energy and buy into it like he always does#Roy Kent#Jamie Tartt#Phoebe O’Sullivan#Ted Lasso#RoyJamie#Mine#I don’t have the energy or brainpower to reread this as usual so enjoy the typos and whatever autocorrect changes things too 😂

I was blown away What could I say? It all seemed to make sense You've taken away everything And I can't deal with that I try to see the good in life But good things in life are hard to find
The NHL season ended without a word from Jamie since the day he got traded to the Flyers in January. Nearly four months passed after he was traded and she never got so much as a text message from her former boyfriend of nearly two years.
They shared a whirlwind of a relationship where they met, said they loved each other, and moved into an Anaheim apartment down the street from Trevor all within a year.
She truly loved him, and she truly messed up before he left for the trip to Nashville that he never came back from.
She knew there were rumors going around Anaheim about Jamie's trade, and Jamie blocked them out every time he heard even a whisper about him getting traded out of Anaheim. He didn't want to hear the reality. When she tried to get him to see that, he walked out the door for the trip after they got into a fight. He packed a bag and spent the night at Trevor's.
Now that the season is over, she expects him to come back to finish packing whatever he didn't grab over the All Star break in February. She couldn't just leave the apartment. She couldn't leave all of the memories behind so easily, especially since she still loves him.
Trevor texts her the day after the season ends and tells her that Jamie is coming in soon to grab the last of his things. Jamie couldn't even let her know that he's coming by. She spends that night curled up in their bed.
We'll blow it away, blow it away Can we make this something good? Well, I'll try to do it right this time around
The following morning, she's up early and thinks about what she can do to fix what's broken between them over a cup of coffee. She has no idea if he's mad at what she said or mad at the fact that he did get traded out of Anaheim.
Maybe she shouldn't have said anything about the trade before it happened. Maybe he wouldn't be about to move out the last few boxes he packed in February if she let him process his future trade on his own.
She fucked up, but maybe she can fix it. It's not over until they both think it's over, and she doesn't think it's over with them. She'll try to do it right this time. She'll be supportive of him instead of trying to get him to see reality. That's where she messed up because Jamie was probably trying to cope with the fact that he wasn't wanted in Anaheim anymore by the team that put their faith in him and drafted him 6th a few years ago.
All she wanted to do was prepare him for the possibility of being traded across the country, and she was met with radio silence since he walked out that door.
He walked out that door with her heart and took it across the country with him. She has to try to fix what's broken. She's not ready to say goodbye to him. She's not ready for him to become a memory or a ghost that haunts her dreams.
The sound of a key in the door grabs her attention immediately. She was leaning on the kitchen island and stands straight up when the door opens. She leaves the cup of coffee on the counter because she is afraid that she's going to drop it when she sees who's walking into the apartment.
She bites her lip so she doesn't say anything when Jamie walks into the apartment for the first time with her there since the fight a bunch of months ago. It feels like a lifetime ago when he walked out the door.
He freezes when he sees her in the kitchen. Their eyes meet and she has to hold back tears.
Jamie looks so much happier and healthier than the last time she saw him in person. The bags under his eyes have gotten lighter. He is practically glowing.
He was working so hard while he was playing for Anaheim because he felt like he had something to prove. He felt like he needed to prove that he belonged here. Philly wanted him so he probably was able to relax.
"Hi," she finally breathes out when the silence gets to be too much for her. "You look, um ... you look good."
"Thanks," he replies, voice quiet. "Are the boxes still in the bedroom?"
She nods quietly and Jamie makes a quick escape down the hallway. She rests her elbows on the counter and puts her face in his hands to hide any emotions that Jamie could see when he comes back out into the living room.
Her throat closes up and tears prick her eyes. She had no idea that seeing him again would cause her to have this reaction. Seeing Jamie will always probably make her have some kind of reaction.
Let's start over I'll try to do it right this time around It's not over Because a part of me is dead and in the ground This love is killing me, but you're the only one It's not over
When he comes back into the living room, Jamie is carrying one of the six boxes that are left. That's probably the biggest box so he has to carry it by itself. The other boxes are light so they can be carried two or three at a time.
That means she's running out of time to talk to him before he walks out of her life completely.
She walks back to the bedroom where his remaining boxes sit in the corner. She sits on the bed so she can catch him when he walks back into the room. With a quick wipe of her cheeks to dry them, she settles on the mattress with her legs crosses and waits for Jamie to come back.
There are footsteps in the hallway and Jamie appears in the doorway a second later. He pauses mid-step when he sees her sitting on the bed they used to share.
"Can we talk?" she asks as her entire body shakes with anxiety and nervousness. "Please?"
Jamie walks over to the corner and piles two of the boxes on top of one another. "I don't have time," he tells her as he picks up the pair of boxes. "Trevor is waiting for me outside to take me and my stuff to the airport for my flight to Toronto."
She frowns as he walks out the door with his things, but she quickly throws on a pair of slides and follows him. "Jamie, please," she begs. "I don't want to let you leave without saying what I have to say. I don't want you to get on that flight without talking to me first."
He gets on the elevator and she jumps on with him. He presses the button to go to the first floor and the doors shut. "(Y/N)," he sighs. "I can't do this again. I don't want to do this again."
"I want to fight for us, Jamie," she says anyway as the elevator keeps descending to the first floor. "I'm not letting you just walk away so easily again. It was a mistake the first time letting you walk away. Especially because you didn't come back."
The doors open and Jamie walks out. She follows him out the front door. Trevor's car sits next to the curb, and he leans against it. "There is a reason I didn't come back," he comments as he throws the boxes in the trunk of the car. Then he looks at her. "I was traded, remember? I bet you do because you kept reminding me that I was going to be traded."
His words cause her to freeze as he walks away. She looks at Trevor, who just points in Jamie's direction. "Go," he tells her. "He's just being hard to get."
She runs after him as he approaches the elevator. The doors open and she once again joins him in the small room.
"I should've been a good girlfriend and be there for you to help you cope with the possibility of being traded," she says to Jamie. "I shouldn't have kept telling you to face reality. I didn't understand how you were feeling, but I do now. I wasn't there for you and was making it harder for you. I'm sorry."
The two walk back into the privacy of their apartment because it's still technically Jamie's apartment too. Once the door shuts, Jamie spins and faces her.
"You made it seem like you were excited to move to wherever it was I got traded to," Jamie snaps. "Meanwhile, I was leaving behind the life that I had made for myself over the past four years. I was leaving the best teammates behind, I was leaving my best friends behind. I pushed myself so hard once those rumors started that I hurt myself trying to prove that I belonged here. I hurt myself trying to prove that I had a spot on the Ducks, and they still traded me anyway. There's a reason I didn't want to face that reality and it's because I was leaving everything behind. Then there was you who seemed like you didn't care what you were leaving behind."
"Because I was ready to move across the country to be with you!" she shouts at him. Her voice is strained as she chokes back tears. "I didn't want to leave everything behind, but I was ready to start a life with you wherever you ended up, then you walked out that door and never came back. You ignored every single text and call I made. You never gave me the chance to explain myself, and now here we are."
He walks back into the bedroom to grab the last three boxes. "I didn't want to hear your excuses," he says as she follows him. "I didn't want to listen to how excited you were to start the next chapter of our lives or whatever while I was struggling to walk away from Anaheim. Sorry if I needed a second."
As he stacks the last boxes on top of each other, she says, "I would've given you as much time as you needed, Jamie. All you had to do was talk to me. Instead, you ignored me." She pauses as Jamie lifts up the boxes. "If I could do the last few months over again, I would. If I could be there for you then I would. I'd support you through anything. I did support you. I watched every single Flyers game you played in and I had to resist the urge to call you when you got hurt a few weeks after the trade. I had to ask Trevor how you were even though he was hurt too because I wasn't sure if you'd answer and I was worried you'd hurt your shoulder like you did last year. I cheered for every point you got and I loved you from 2,700 miles away while you were ignoring me."
Tears form and fall down her cheeks as she tells Jamie what been happening with her since he left. She's angry, but she loves him so much that she's willing to be angry at him for a second while they talk for the first time in months.
She's willing to be angry at him for this one moment.
Jamie puts the boxes on the ground and looks at her. "You still loved me and supported me even though I was ignoring you?" he asks like he doesn't believe her. She nods and wipes away her own tears while she looks at Jamie. "I didn't know-"
"You wouldn't have known because you refused to talk to me," she interrupts as she rubs her face. "I'm sure you didn't bother asking Z how I was either because he didn't tell me if you did ask."
"I asked him not to tell you."
"What?"
He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair. "I did ask how you were doing, but I told Trevor not to tell you I was asking because I wasn't sure if I wanted to talk to you yet," Jamie explains. "He didn't tell me that you still loved me and were supporting everything I did in Philly."
"Still love," she corrects. "Still support. I always will because I thought for years that it was going to be the two of us til the end. When you walked through that door a little bit ago, I was getting ready to fight for us. I didn't think it was actually over between us, but you tell me if it's over or if we can start over."
Jamie stays quiet, and the only reason she doesn't immediately tell him to leave is because she can see that he's genuinely thinking about her words.
I've taken all I could take And I cannot wait We're wasting too much time Being strong, holding on Can't let it bring us down My life with you means everything So I won't give up that easily
His phone buzzes and he takes it out of the pocket of his shorts. He looks back up at her and says, "I have to-"
"Go?" she interrupts again. "Then go, but know that I'm not done fighting for us and our lives together."
"(Y/N)," Jamie sighs. "I have to go tell Trevor that I'm staying." Her eyes widen. "It's not over between us. I don't want it to ever be over between us, so if you'll let me, I'd like to start over. Redo the last few months or so with you."
All of the tension leaves her body and she nearly falls to the floor. She lets out the biggest sigh of relief, and also the loudest sob that echoes off the walls of the bedroom. She covers her face and cries into her hands.
A pair of arms wrap around her shoulders and she smells Jamie's familiar cologne on his body as it engulfs her. "We'll do it right this time," he assures her. "I promise.
I'll blow it away, blow it away Can we make this something good? 'Cause it's all misunderstood Well, I'll try to do it right this time around
Let's start over I'll try to do it right this time around It's not over Because a part of me is dead and in the ground This love is killing me, but you're the only one It's not over

"Why don't you get it."
Sitting on the coach you tried to take some deep breaths to calm your anger that you felt at life right now. But life just wasn't being kind at the moment, you were beyond anger at your boyfriend. Jamie just didn't understand sometimes how the real world worked and you couldn't be mad at him, not when his job automatically made him so out of touch.
He expected you to just drop everything for the entire holiday season and go travel with him to his home state, and go explore new places. But you had responsibilities here. Although you were off for from grad school during the holiday season for three weeks, you still had a full-time job and you were in the middle of trying to get a promotion. Also having your own family you were trying to see at some point during the holiday purely so you didn't have to hear your mothers disapproval over the phone on missing yet another 'family holiday.'
"no Jamie." your voice stern, as strong and stern as you could make it.
"Why? why don't you wanna come home with me?" he demanded.
"Jamie. my sweet boy, I can't" not sure if you were asking yourself or him.
"After this I'm moving across the country. You are already refusing to come."
"Refusing!" cutting him off. "Jamie. that's not fair." Trying to keep your emotions at bay, but you can hear your voice cracking slowly.
"Why? give me one reason you won't let us have one more holiday together before you say goodbye to us forever." The anger slowly leaving his lips with each word, all that is left is the distraught on his face, the hurt, and the hurt you feel in the moment you didn't think could get worse. Until his final blow hit "why don't you wanna fight for us y/n/n." he whispers.
"thats not fair and you know that." The tears falling freely from your face, barely able to get your question out "Why don't you get it?"
He tries to reach for when he notices the tears falling, wanting nothing more than to reach out and wipe them away. Wanting nothing more than to reach out and comfort you. But when he tries you take a step back, wrapping your arms around yourself.
"then help me understand." he begs his own eyes filling with tears.
"I -" clearing your own throat trying to get your voice to be able to speak again without sounding like you were underwater. "I have worked so hard to be where I am. And you have too. But I can't walk away, not when I'm so close. We both knew when we met that we came from different worlds. I thought we could make this work, but I think I was wrong."
"no"
"Jamie I can't do this. you said it yourself we aren't built for long distance."
"no.. no no no." he begs as he closes to distance between you both trying desperately to grasp onto anything you will give him.
"I think I'm gonna leave. Merry Christmas J. Good luck in Pittsburgh." With your final goodbye you step around Jamie even though he's trying to grab you, not to hurt you, but to try to hold on to you, to get you to change your mind. Slipping on your shoes and grabbing your bag in the foyer you leave his apartment for the last time ever.

Waaaaauuuugh, thank you for this! It's so lovely when people ask for stuff, especially stuff that I haven't posted about in a while! Gives me the warm and fuzzies, that does
I didn't have a snippet to share that was really ready ready, so I made one! Then it got big.
From the longer version of this post, where Jamie stays with the team in Amsterdam, and after the pillow fight decides to share with them what happened the first time he was there.
No content warnings apply to this snippet in particular, but it does discuss some of what Jamie has just shared with his teammates
"I'm sorry," Jamie blurted, unsure of what else he could possibly add to- not excuse it, no, but to rescue some of the image of himself in Sam's eyes. The shadow of Sam hovering over him felt heavy with the potential of he didn't know what. He wished he could shrink, seep into the hotel carpet until he spilled out the other side, underground somewhere below the basement where only the bones and the rot would welcome him. He squeezed his eyes shut; forced himself to open them again. Blinked wetly at the shadows and the broken light spilled across the ceiling. "I know you don't- approve of that sort of stuff-" The angel that was Sam's shadow bristled, and Jamie swore he saw white feathers dance from his shoulders.
"Of course I do not approve-," hissed Sam, only for his words to come to a sharp stop. Jamie couldn't see what was happening on his face, but he could hear the air shift as something churned over in Sam's head, some great gears stirring through the muddied waters. With awful softness, he said, "Jamie. Are you under the impression that I am upset because you visited a sex worker?"
His ears burned. Stupid reaction, that, but hearing Sam put it so bluntly made a fresh wave of shame curl in his chest.
He shouldn't have said anything. He should've left it in the dark, under the waters with that skinny kid and his naively stupid heart and the footprints that stopped at the edge of the bridge.
"I dunno," he shrugged helplessly. His teeth ground together like stone, and if he twisted his fingers any tighter he might accidentally spark into flames. "You seemed pretty against it earlier when we were voting."
Sam shook his head, dislodging more feathers from the sky. "No, no, that's not-"
"That isn't a sex work problem," Jan interrupted. It was the first he'd spoken since Jamie started talking, and he'd never heard him sound so angry before. "That's illegal."

thinking many thoughts about jamie drysdale x actress!reader
i think it would start out with an interview for tiktok that goes something like this:
“So, Jamie, who’s your celebrity crush?” the interviewer asked.
Jamie thought of somebody immediately. He glanced at Cam and could tell by his smirk that he knew exactly who he was thinking of. “Uh, I don’t have one.”
Cam scoffed loudly. “That’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard. He really likes this actress, the one from House of the Dragon, Y/n L/n. We watched the show together and he was obsessed.”
Jamie rubbed a hand over his face as he felt himself blush. “Stop it, dude. Don’t air out my business like that.”
“Don’t lie next time,” Cam said simply, shrugging as if he did nothing wrong.
The video went somewhat viral on hockey TikTok, and one of your costars ended up showing it to you.
You pretended like it didn’t affect you, but hockey players were always your type, and Jamie was so good looking.
About a week after the video dropped, you were at a movie premiere doing press interviews when the subject was brought up.
“Do you know who Jamie Drysdale is?” asked the woman interviewing you, holding the mic out in front of you.
You felt yourself smile involuntarily. “Yeah, the Flyers player. I know of him.”
“I’m guessing you’ve seen the video,” she said, grinning in satisfaction.
“Yeah, I have,” you said, feeling the heat rise to your face. “He’s cute, but I’m not much of a Philly fan, so I don’t know if he’d like that.”
The interviewer nodded, pausing to wink at the camera before looking back at you. “If he were to slide into your DMs, so to speak, would you reply?”
“I might,” you said honestly, letting out a lighthearted laugh.
The interviewer turned to the camera. “You heard it here, folks, we might have a new it couple on our hands, if a certain somebody hits her up.”
You were sure your embarrassment was completely noticeable at this point, and you smiled politely before dismissing yourself from the interview, which Cam showed Jamie the next day. Let’s just say he wasn’t passing up a good opportunity.

Jamie's relationship to alcohol/drug is a complicated magter, even before...direct influence comes into play. So many factors come into play, many outside their own influence.
The social attitude at the time very much allowed them to be brought into contact with things at a younger age than they perhaps would have otherwise, not to mention how common it was in the social areas and artsy scenes they frequent, back on the surface and on the neath. It was and is practically expected of them.
We've all seen the texts about the bohemian faction after all.
This mixes rather poorly with Jamie's individual circumstances. Trauma and mental illness can make one vulnerable to these things. Combined with the unknown issue of highly impacting ADHD, Jamie leans often into fully unaware self medicating to help themself function in the day to day. A few times becomes habit, a process becomes routine, and they don't even realize what is ongoing until things are far, far too late.
And there's something to be said, for how those who are vulnerable and struggle with mental illness, can often be targeted by those who are predatory.
#if i write the mary-anne pov fic this may come up a bit#anyway yea jamies addictions issues are a big facet of everything#and this really ads into a layer of metaphor with their relationship with the princess#of how easy it is to be targetted and fall back into things without proper support#</3#also uhhh yea its a notable Thing. that jamie has issues with alcohol + alex has parentsl trauma related to alcohol#its a mess#oc talk#oc: jamie#drugs cw#alcohol cw

gather 'round, children, and let me share with you my newest brain child, Steven Taylor/Jamie McCrimmon!
This was really just an excuse to love on Steven but it feels almost as much of a twojamie fic as it is a Steven/Jamie one with how much Jamie thinks of the Doctor
there will be a part two continuation in Steven's POV because I just can't get enough!
#caboose writes#jamie mccrimmon#steven taylor#Steven Taylor/Jamie McCrimmon#doctor who fanfiction#this was really a practice in including Steven in my fics and getting his voice right#but also it was an excuse to simp over him#its mostly talking and kissing nothing too out of hand

Side request that isn’t on your WIP list at all, but if you ever wanted to share any snippets or to have an excuse to work on your hockey au (perhaps as a way of coping with watching the Bruins), then like
🌹
🏒🥅⛸️
Hockey AU my belovedddddd And thank you for encouraging me and listening to me drone on about it months ago. It has been on my mind as I watch my B's (which I am doing currently and they are actually winning!). For your generous ask, here is the (current draft) to the opening that gives insight into the fic itself:
Rebecca watched the movers take the David Hockney painting off the wall with a mixture of regret and disappointment. She should have asked for it in the divorce. Instead-she got the hockey club. She was now the proud owner of the Richmond Greyhounds, no matter how hard Rupert tried to destroy the team prior to her takeover. No matter how hard Rupert tried to destroy her.
She survived him. And she wouldn’t let him take this team from the fans. Now Rebecca simply had to figure out exactly how she was going to do that.
“Oh, surely not the Hockney, too?” Higgins grimaced, watching the mover carry it out the door of Rebecca’s office as he entered and took one of the chairs across from her desk. “That must be worth a million pounds.”
“I know Higgins, but we have bigger problems at the moment.”
Higgins made a strangled noise, “Where should we start?”
“Let’s start with why you’re still here,” Rebecca said. “And why you didn’t follow my ex-husband out the door?”
Another startled sound escaped his lips.
“Well, I believe in this team, and I’m not willing to walk away when I think it can still be saved,” Higgins answered.
“We have a lot of work to do. Rupert did his best to run this team into the ground.”
“Unfortunately, I am well aware,” Higgins said. “And with all due respect, Mrs–Ms Welton, why are you here? Why do you want to be here?”
Rebecca sighed. She knew there would be a lot of questions regarding her position, so she might as well start swinging.
“Did you know Rupert bought the team for me? It was a wedding gift. Not for me to be involved, of course, but my present was him owning the team.”
“Don’t tell that to Mrs Higgins; she’ll have much higher hopes for our next anniversary.”
Rebecca smiled sadly, “He forgot our anniversary the next year.”
Higgins winced.
“But! Not the point!” Rebecca said with a forced cheer. “The point is we need to turn this team around and we only have eight games left to do it. If you’re ready to help me do that, I’m promoting you to team General Manager. Patrick has not built the team that we need. I think you will do a much better job of it than he has.”
“Patrick left with Rupert, didn’t he?”
“He did.”
Higgins nodded a few times as if unsurprised by this development. Higgins has worked at Richmond since before Rupert bought the team, working his way through the ranks, becoming loyal to Rupert and Rebecca wondered how loyal he would be to her, but she had little time to find a replacement.
“Let’s start with the team itself,” Rebecca said. “We are severely under the salary cap, Rupert choosing to save money rather than pay players.”
“While there aren’t many players available in free agency at the moment, and we don’t have enough assets for many trades, but I do have a lead on a sniper from Manchester City we might be able to get for under-market value. He’s an up-and-coming talent, but seems like he’s worn out his welcome with his current club, and no one else is willing to take a chance on him ruining a changing room. He’s a free agent at the end of the season, so it would just be a loaner, and there is absolutely no chance he’ll resign.”
“Make it happen. We need whatever help we can get for the rest of the season.”
#thank you thank you thank you my wonderfully supportive friend#go bruins#hockey au#rebecca welton#leslie higgins#they're talking about#jamie tartt#at the end of course#and ted's actually a competent hockey coach#he's basically jim montgomery getting a second chance at coaching#i did not put the hockey au on the list because i know it will be a niche fic and my fics don't inspire comments the way a lot of fics do#so i know if i posted it and no one commented i might give up on it and i don't want to do that so i wanted to have most of it written#before i posted and i anticipate this bitch being long

Okay so I did start an Abe Sapien series awhile ago on my old account (iamnotyourmusebitch) but I have decided to put it on AO3. I'll link the fic on here still so people can get to read it still but for this fic series it will be on AO3.
So keep your eyes open for the first chapter. As I only posted the Prologue that I had on my old tumblr account.

Hello fellow selfshippers, a question for the community:
Would anyone be interested if I took the time to write a resource to help people write better gender neutral, male, and trans+nonbinary readers in general? I know i'm not the only non-fem and non-cis person in the community whose felt frustration over the lack of representation for us in reader insert fanfiction, and the disappointment when finding some, but it's clearly written without any research into how to portray those different perspectives from yourself. I've honestly reached such a stage of frustration because, even having f/os from massive fandoms, I've still been scrolling through mountains of f!reader fics with either zero or just a handful of m!readers that it's made me retreat heavily from the community as a whole because I just don't feel included or cared about. Does anyone think that this would actually help the community as a whole? Are there any authors who do want to make this kind of content, but are too scared because they don't know how to write from this perspective? I want to gauge interest before I attempt investing the time in it or if it'll just be something that ends up lost to the ether. I'd appreciate rbs to get some more eyes on this <3
#I feel like it goes without saying but i don't think theres a problem with only writing f!readers and im not trying to shame anyone into#writing something they dont want to. i just want to try and make the community a little more equal in regards to this stuff bc it sucks so#bad to be a part of a community but not actually get to participate in it without literally getting misgendered lol#this post is inspired by me going into the thranduil/reader tag on ao3 to see 400~ fics and only 60~ were tagged as m/m. and then i went#through them all and literally only two were actually m/m fics with the rest either being mistagged or just a broad tag on a compilation fi#literally i wanted to hit my head against the wall i was so angry :sob:#anyway tags or whatever#self shipping#self inserts#x reader#imagines#f/o community#fictional other#lgbt selfship#trans selfship#jamie talks#i need to change my personal tags lel

Love your drabbles! I cannot stop reading and sharing them. I have another prompt if you are still taking them! It would be interesting to see Gaz defend his Jamie when he is invited as a special guest to that CBS show Jamie is on. Would love to see protective Gary against Kate Abdo with Big Meeks laughing in the background and Titi being torn between helping Kate or (rightfully) knowing when a battle is lost. Maybe a dib at Kate how being a host is easy money compared to being actual pundits & analysts
kinda obsessed w this prompt being sent like a day before Jamie ran his big mouth on live tv and got in trouble for it (though tbh he's ALWAYS running his big mouth and what he said abt kate not being loyal wasn't even up there with worst mistakes imo it's just the one that happened to go viral). but also YES I am obseeeeessed with the UCL Today gang's dynamic the banter.... the thinly veiled dislike between Jamie and Kate.... chefs kiss
Also, this ficlet can be considered part of the wife-gary saga and having said that I'm wondering if I should have that as a tag so the other prompt fills in that universe are easier to find......
---
“Joining us in the studio today is one of the most decorated British footballers of all time, with over a hundred appearances in the Champions’ league and two titles to show for it, it’s Gary Neville. Gary, welcome to the show.”
Gary, who’d been grimacing awkwardly through Kate’s introduction, shakes his head around a bit and then gives her a smile. “Glad to be here, I –”
“—hold on, hold on,” Jamie interrupts, “can we go back to the ‘two titles’ thing for a second?”
“Yes, James, I have two Champions’ league medals,” Gary says, turning to look at Jamie with one unimpressed eyebrow raised. “As many as everyone else in this studio combined, I believe. What’s not clickin’, can you not count that high?”
To Jamie’s left, Micah doubles over with laughter, but Jamie just shakes his head, reaching a hand out to Gary’s chest, pushing him back in his seat. “No, no, Gary, why don’t you tell our audience how many games you played to earn that second medal, eh?”
Before Gary has a chance to defend himself, Kate primly says “about thirty more across his career than you did, Jamie,” which sets the whole table off laughing again while Jamie sits glaring in the middle of it all.
*
Jamie, as the lone Scouser in the cast and the only one not to have won a Premier league (besides Kate, obviously, but she doesn’t count), often feels ganged up on at CBS. And to have Gary on as a guest, even though he’d agreed to the idea (and quite enthusiastically, though don’t tell Gary that), feels like an extra kick in the shin.
Because not only is Gary, Mister Manchester United, getting obvious favouritism from lifelong United supporter Kate, he has the more crucial advantage that nobody in America knows who he is.
This means that Gary on CBS is not ‘below-average defender who only achieved what he did through obsessive hard work and sucking up to Fergie’, no, Gary on CBS is ‘best full-back of his generation, Manchester United and England legend, one of the top 10 most decorated British footballers of all time, and David fucking Beckham’s best mate.’
When you look at it like that, it’s a lot harder to find something to tease him about.
Jamie still manages, of course, he’s spent the past decade making a career out of insulting Gary Neville and he’s damn good at it. Over the course of the show he’s able to get in a few digs about his nose, his hair, his weight, his dress sense. But that’s all appearance stuff, which is easy – one look at Gary and the jokes basically write themselves.
What that says about Jamie, the idiot who went and married him, he’s not sure.
Everyone around the table is joking about Istanbul, which is easy enough to do if you weren’t there, which none of them were, and it’s enough to get Jamie’s blood boiling. He’s getting ready to launch into a rant about how it was one of the greatest games in footballing history when Kate cracks a line about how Jamie’s successes were all dumb luck, and Gary’s face scrunches up in displeasure.
“Oh, I’m – I’m not sure that’s fair, really,” he says quietly, glancing back at Jamie as he does. “Don’t get me wrong, that Liverpool team were nowhere near Champions’ league winner quality, I’m sure James would agree w’me on that –” Jamie, very reluctantly, nods. “—I mean, they finished fifth in the league that season, got knocked out of the FA cup their first game. There’s always a bit of luck to be fair, gettin’ to a Champions’ league final, but credit where it’s due – they were a scrappy little team, and that win was well deserved.”
On Gary’s right, Thierry nods in agreement, which is quite possibly the highest praise Jamie’s ever received from the man, and even Kate gives Jamie an awkward little smile once Gary’s done talking.
Under the desk, Jamie drops a hand to Gary’s knee and gives it an appreciative little squeeze.
*
As soon as the cameras are all off Jamie wastes no time in grabbing Gary by the wrist to pull him onto his lap, where he sort of half-perches half-hovers because he’s nervous about putting all his weight on Jamie’s knees (even though Jamie keeps telling him it’s fine).
Gary makes no complaints at being manhandled, just smiles fondly down at Jamie and pinches his cheek. “Look at you, you vain fuck. What I said were barely complimentary and it’s still got you all over me.”
Jamie ignores this (because they both know it’s true) and surges forward to kiss Gary instead, paying no mind to the others still in the vicinity of the desk while they get their earpieces and microphones unhooked. He hears a groan from Micah, and an exasperated sigh from Titi, but they can both go fuck themselves because Jamie’s horrible bastard of a husband willingly said something nice about Liverpool on live television, and if that’s not cause for celebration then he doesn’t know what is.
When Gary breaks the kiss with a pleased little hmph and gets up to wander over to the snack table, Jamie is left to face his colleagues, all three of them looking at him with faces twisted in an attempt to suppress their laughter.
“Man like Jamie,” Micah says gleefully, clapping his hands together. “I knew you was bringin’ the missus on for a reason, this is like foreplay for the two a’yous, innit?” As soon as he finishes the sentence, he shudders at his own words, then adds “oh, ew, that’s like thinking about your parents, don’t want to know any more.”
“I think you’re onto something there, Meeks,” Kate laughs, “and here I was thinking he’d brought him on to show off his trophy wife.”
Jamie wants to protest that he did not bring Gary onto the show, he’s not the one who made the suggestion and it’s definitely not showing off or foreplay or whatever else his colleagues can come up with, but then Kate’s nudging him in the side with a smirk and saying “Trophy wife, Jamie, get it? Because he has a lot more trophies than –”
Jamie stomps off to go find his stupid annoying and very very successful trophy wife before Kate is able to finish the thought and prompt him to say something he might regret.
#the trophy wife line came to me halfway through writing this and then tbh the rest of the fic became centred around#being able to get that in. bc its SO funny to me. even though it's dumb#also idk if an american audience would know who gary is or not. so i was assuming they wouldn't#carraville#drabbles#wife gary saga#<- making this a tag now. will go back and add it to the others at some point#OH also jamie getting handsy over gary being nice to him is 100% from the bit in sara's fic where they're talking about love languages#just btw

having a vague "why am i writing this horrible story?" crisis about the anglo-saxon au fic that has taken over my mind since *checks* about two days ago. i have approx 2000 words of it written so it is going fairly well in that sense but i have gone a bit niche with my fics recently and am starting to think "nobody wants to read this, people will be annoyed at you if you post this" a bit more often, even though they probably won't because it's a free cake and it's rude to complain about free cake.
#HOWEVER while hits are low the comments are about the same so that's actually my fics doing better really isn't it?#i keep stats hidden on ao3 usually but i occasionally put them back on and look at my stats page#part of switching off stats wasn't MY stats so much as other people's. i do think losing that context makes me feel better about mine.#for all i know 120 hits for a month-old sifki fic is Incredible Amounts of Number Go Up so i may as well just assume it is right?#just as i have MANY silent fans who are too shy to comment or kudos or rec my fic but they LOVE me and i am their FAVE#okay this little pep-talk in the tags has helped somewhat: i NEED to finish this horrible fic for the lurkers who love me! they'll LOVE it!#ps: the missy & jamie moriarty fic has had 24 hits which considering the crossover i am actually very pleased with :D#\o/#fic related#btw if i start tagging my fic-related posts with the working-titles so i can later track my own thought processes would that be weird?#is that too “anne rice if she had a yahoo mailing list”?

🌹🌹🌹🌹 Can we have a little Jamie gets hugged six ways snippet? Pretty please? as a little treat?
ABSOLUTELY YOU MAY!!!!! i love this fic and i will NEVER shut up about it. here you go!!
“I won’t,” says Roy, which—isn’t what Jamie’d expected. “I won’t touch you, Jamie. Promise.” And there’s a solid surety to Roy’s voice, a grounded calm that hooks into the naked, vulnerable ache of Jamie’s chest and keeps him from running off the way he so terribly wants to. He allows a breath to escape his mouth. “O-okay,” he stammers; curls his fingers into the sleeves of his shirt. “Thanks. I—thanks. Thank you.” “You don’t need to—” But whatever it is Jamie doesn’t need to do, he never finds out, ’cause Roy cuts himself off before he gets to it and changes tact. “Do you…want to come back to my house with me? I can make you breakfast.” No. It’s right there, on the precipice of Jamie’s tongue, and he can’t speak it into being. Wants to, but can’t. All he can think about is the empty, hollow coffin of his own gaff, the way it all feels foreign to him, as though he’s become a stranger in a strange land except the strange land is his house and the stranger is his reflection. And more than he wants to say no to Roy, he doesn’t want to return to that place. So, “Sure,” is what spills out, fractured and hopeful in the cold dawn light. “Sure, yeah. I’ll—yeah. Please.” And Roy nods, seeming relieved, seeming unsurprised, and waits for Jamie to venture closer to him before turning towards the brightening horizon and the path that’ll lead them home. ** He’s never been to Roy’s house before, is something Jamie only realizes once he’s there, curled into the arm of the nice, deep couch in the living room, listening as oil crackles on the stove and the smell of diced bell peppers fills the air. He should be embarrassed, he thinks absently, to be sitting around on his arse while Roy makes him breakfast like he’s a child. Except shame is a distant thing, now. Beyond his reach. Scrambling around out there on the road, all hands and knees and panting breaths, a hunted animal biting desperately at any hand that comes near, has scraped him to the absolute bottom of his emotional barrel. He can’t stretch his mind around anything more than exhaustion. And hunger. He’s so fucking hungry. He expects Roy to call him to the kitchen once it’s time to eat, but instead Roy ends up bringing two plates heaped with cheesy omelets and fried potatoes into the living room, sets them both on the coffee table and then adds a mug to the display, topped high with whipped cream. “Hot chocolate,” he tells Jamie, which is good, ’cause if Roy Kent put whipped cream on his coffees then Jamie would just maybe have to re-think twenty years of hero worship. Then he points at the fork and says, “Fork.” “No shit?” Jamie asks, feigning shock, and almost slams his body back into the couch cushions, horrified. What the fuck. What the fuck. He can’t—he can’t—he can’t do that, can’t go around making fun of Roy when Roy’s wasted all this time bringing him home and cooking him breakfast and taking care of him even though Jamie deserves none of it, when Roy’s— Laughing. Quietly, shoulders shaking. Jamie stares at him, convinced there’s something deeper to it, that the laughter will crack open to reveal the cold, ugly innards, but it doesn’t. It slowly fades into a warm silence, and then Roy says, “Yeah, guess that was fucking stupid of me. Go on, you muppet, eat before it gets cold.”
